You were saying?
And correct me if I'm wrong, but short for Wyoming all US states have at least part of their borders to be based at least partially on some natural barrier, that got then codified to prevent border shift (hence the weird borders around Ohio, Mississippi and Missouri rivers that are semi-straight)

Reminds me of an island between Finland and Sweden, which was divided. Finland built a lighthouse on the highest point, which was on the Swedish side. So a compromise was reached, where the land needed for the lighthouse was given to Finland and equal portion of land was taken from Finland.

That's everywhere. Because reality doesn't exist on a neat grid in a filing cabinet. I know a guy who built a house boat for himself to live in. Ended up in a years long battle with the government on how it would be classified and if it could be registered as premanent residence. A friend lives in a house that was built in the 50s. The person who got the zoning permit wiped his ass with it and the house is way bigger than is allowed, but because nobody has bothered to measure it, on paper it's still the approved size. There's cases where buildings have one corner flattened because it came a little too close to a "main road" that nobody but the person owning the building uses and it's still several feet away from the dirt road. Bureaucracy is a hoot*.

*scam
>>
>>84411424
My mother lives on a house which floats in the water, but it looks exactly like a normal house. It's officially classified as a boat and not a house, which means you have to pay far fewer taxes.

>>84399779

Every harbor built in the middle east is malicious erection. They are designed for the sole purpose of annoying the shit out of me, or someone like me specifically. If you are unaware, the sand niggers are big fans of building artifical coastlines or islands, but they are really bad at doing it, to said coastlines/islands erode away in a decade or so, and the sea floor changes completely at the drop of a hat. I'm tired of looking at maps and charts of the middle east.
But yeah, you see buildings that are made for the sole purpose of pissing off other every now and then. You also see plenty of buildings that where clearly designed by an architech who was having a laugh; you'd be staggered how many buildings look like gigantic cock and balls from a bird's eye view.

Two years ago I had a road to unfuck, because turns out in the early 60s someone had the bright idea to privately obtain machines and material to put asphalt road in front of 8 houses. Nobody took any measurements, but the city decided that sure, this is a public, city-owned road. Comes 2020 and new construction in the area, my office is hired to take measurements...
... and the road is build almost 3 meters away from where it is drawn on the map.
The case is still pending, the city so far managed to secure the road as city-owned from 5 of the 7 owners, while reimbursing them for the loss/extension of their plots to adjust for the roads. The original contract I had went nowhere due to this, but at least I've got paid for my measurements

There's this bit of land between my neighbourhood and the next one that I tried to get the council out to clear out because it's full of brambles and trash. The council told me it was owned by the housing assocation. The housing association told me it was owned by the council. Neither would accept responsibility.

I wanted to buy that no man's land a couple of years ago and both the council and the housing association said they should be paid for it because they both owned it. They both had separate maps for it which magically appeared the moment money was involved and work wasn't asked for. I just took down my back fence and cleared out a big circle of the brambles for myself anyway and pretended I wasn't interested in buying it any more.

The correct course of action was to assure the government that sure, your neighbours are fine with it, since you've already talked with them. And the talked part is important here, since verbal agreement is just as binding as signed papers. That you are lying is of secondary concerns
Meanwhile doing what >>84412774 suggests is the easiest way to get fined, especially given the size of the thing.
Usually the concern with greenhouses isn't as much with their size, but their height and how close to the border of your plot is. Hence the questions are (obviously):
- how tall it is
- how close to the border of your plot
Usually, there is a location plan that allows you to build a structure that's in relation with the height of the building or structure, regardless of country. For example: you can't build a building x times taller than the requirements to put an access road in your land. So assuming local requirements are for an access road to be 5 meters wide, and the x is 3, you couldn't build taller than 15 meters. Of course, this is absurd for greenhouse, but this is an example. Knowing such limitations in your local law AND local planning is a key of getting shit done and any land office will provide you this information (it's their job)

Easier than fighting forever to get it done. You think they won't fine you if it comes to light you lied to the government about having permission from the neighbors?

Except you will get a fine AND a court-mandated warrant to demolish the building, paying for the demolition yourself.
>You think they won't fine you if it comes to light you lied to the government about having permission from the neighbors?
They would have to send people to actually check that, which means expenditures they don't want to make (why do you think they delegate it to the person asking for the permit?)
It's like you genuinely never in your life interacted with any bureaucracy and take your entire knowledge about how things work from TV

Besides, they would have to PROVE that you didn't have permission from your neighbours. Since you claim you obtained that permission in verbal form, it is impossible to prove you didn't, UNLESS they plan to drag you to the court and spend 1d6 months on unwinnable case, since there is no way to prove you didn't. Therefore - verbal agreements and "hand-shake" deals are awesome to get low grade shit done, especially when no actual agreement took place. Because nobody can actually prove them happening or not, same with the actual wording of it.
Why do you think we developed written contracts in the first place?

>In 2010, the UK's Appeal Court ruled that because the building had been deliberately concealed, the four-year period only began once the building had been revealed, making the council's objections well within the legal time limit.
Unfortunately, britbong officials have to be wankers as usual.

Just tell them you have a verbal agreement with the government for the greenhouse. Are they gonna spend months trying to prove you didn't have it?
>Why do you think we developed written contracts in the first place?
Probably so someone can't tell the government "I totes have permission for this from all parties involved"?

I'm no expert on british law, but it sounds like RAW was on his side - nobody challenged the building for the entirety of the grace period because nobody knew it was there.
The court's "b-but you concealed it, so it doesn't count" sounds like lame excuse so that they won't have to admit they were outsmarted.

Yes, that is how the British legal system works. that's the joke that Adams makes, over and over again.
But then when you learn the rules and play the game on them, they get mad.
