Summary: The world is as of now a pure fantasy setting. Things in the north are nice, things in the south are less nice. We're not adding manpreg island no matter how much you ask, feel free to add other stuff and flesh out other things.

rules are (as of right now):

>be nice
>don't fuck up other people's lore
>don't add new landmasses
>no fetishes/coomershit
>don't sperg out if people don't accept or like your lore/additions

Maritime trade is also an important aspect of life in Hithlone. Many expeditions to the South have sailed from Hithlone in search of new lands or fortunes.

One way to tell apart the nobility from the wealthy merchant class is through their garments. Merchants prefer more flamboyant, colourful clothes while often displaying their wealth, while nobles often wear dark and simpelr clothes.

>Cuisine

Seafood like calamari, oysters, clams and mussels dominate the cuisine of Hithlone. Lamb and mutton, as well as the occasional shark meat are also widely found in the markets.

>Religion

The faith of Hithlone is similar in many regards to the other faiths of the humans in Scimitaria. They worship three aspects of the same god.

Miruna is the patron of arts, music and learning. She is a beautiful woman with long, red hair.

Axile is the patron of sailors, good winds and the sea. He takes the form of a man with a sea serpent's lower body. Sailors pray to him before long travels.

Lastly, Audric is the patron of wine, hedonism and fertility. He is portrayed as a young, naked man whose statues can be found outside of brothels and bathhouses.

>Demographics

Humans - Most Humans are native to the island, and most live in the capital city of Hithlone, which is the only real city in Terpsythea. Slavers from the Three Sisters and Hydra's Eyes smugglers have made their way into the markets and the underworld of Hithlone. Many humans from all over the west come to study in the Citadle.

>Dwarves

Many Dwarves from the Kinoog Jungle have made their way into the hills of Terpsythea in order to work in the mines, as they are the best workers suited for this kind of work.

>Non Humans

Mountain Hobbits only appear in Hithlone in the form of slaves. Same goes for the Orcs, although some do occupy mercenary jobs. Sea Elves are seldom seen, preferring to study magic in Arangea or in their own realm. Drow are more common, especially those from the southern states.

no, but check out entries of Avangar, Aine Saevherne and Hyperborea. Apparently, they (and the rest of the ore Kingdoms or whatever they're called) are humans who migrated to the south and they're latest inhabitants of the Zemyland island (and they're called Zemylanders, appropriately).

May I tell you of the wise shaler? Fish of grey, with hard plated scales that carve through the stone of the tallest mountains. They travel in a large nomadic swarm, delving deep into the mantle as they migrate from range to range. Its said that if you climb a mountain's peak, and are lucky enough to catch a mighty old shaler with your bare hands, it will grant you it's wisdom.

So, with the physical and biome map pretty much done and the political map finally filled, we need to see what else we need to do:

-Political map with cities, nation's capitals, main roads and trade routes. Most nations and regions have little to no cities located on the map, even some of the big ones. We'd need number of cities, their location, capital if there's one, trade routes between the different powers... A city map would need to be made first before the trade one.
-An approximate general timeline of the world. Maybe a common mythology and cosmogony.
-How the flat world works: The night/day cycle, seasons, its relation with magic, how the Emptiness affects the world...
-Adding more lore to the more lacking spots. We could check the wiki for those places with very little lore.
-How the magic works. Does everyone have the potential to use magic? Or is it exclusive to some? If it is exclusive, who has it and why? Can wizards use all kinds of magic, or just some kinds?
-Filling the lore of the underground map.
Anything else we might need?

>Cities

Hithlone is the biggest settlement of the Republic, of which it takes its name. It's the only city in Terpsythea in the proper sense of the world.

Braavos sprawls across a hundred small islands in the delta of the Fulenn river. As such, hundreds of canals run through the city, both small and large, connected by picturesque bridges. Hithlone is a bigger city than other city states such as Arangea, Bumi, Nekiz, Tyr and Moreelse. Large shipyards and arsenals are built on the southern waterfront, in which large part of the Republic's navy.

Hithlone's buildings are mostly constructed from grey stone, though larger and richer buildings also use marble and other ornate decorations. There is little in the way of wooden construction in the city, as Terpsythea has few forests. Romantic music and evocative aromas flow in the beautiful cobblestone streets. Bathhouses and whrehouses are also common, where one might get to relieve his stress or participate in orgies.

Large bell towers dot the landscape of Hithlone, but the largest one that trumps over them all is the Citadel, located in the Oxeye district (although technically not a a single building) It's the learning academical center of the West, pursuing many topics of research. It's governed by the Conclave of Scholars, the governing body of the Citadle.

The Citadel is funded by taxes from Hithlone. Many students and acolytes visit from all over the world to study in this institution. Graduating scholars from the Citadel are awarded with a certification parchment and small chains that hang around their necks, each made from a different metal and color, signifying the field in which the student graduated from. Each chain can have many links, all awarded specifically the Conclave of Scholars.

Some of the fields taught in the Citadel include history, medicine, surgery, botanology, economics, astronomy and alchemy. One of the most peculiar fields of the Citadel is the one that concerns the "Higher Mysteries" of the world. Although magic is not banned in Hithlone, the practice of necromancy and other dark arts is, and some have speculated that dark arts not unlike those in Avangar are practiced there.

It's said that many secret tomes regarding necromancy and the secrets of the outer cosmos reside in the forbidden section of the Citadel's library. One such secret tome is said to house the secrets of the fall of the Dragon Empire, as well as the Island of Lesandros. Many scholars, fortune hunters and other undesirables have searched for these tomes in the bowels of the Library, although with little success.

The Order of the Scholars is very concerned about the rising power of necromancy in the Okhost Islands, and particularly worrisome are the rumours of the conglomeration of dark wizards with less than pure intentions gathering in the city of Alga, practicing their wicked magic.

Some more cynical individuals would say that the Order of the Scholars despise magic and want it gone from this world, blaming them for the waning influence of magic throughout the world - or even worse- that they were the ones responsible of the sinking of the lost civilization of Lesandros. The Order categorically deny such "drivel", as they call it.

Other cities in Terpsythea include Kioneta, a small mining town built on a small plain on a hillside, Ganima, a town to the north where House Doce holds heavy influence and Soran, a market town on the eastern shore of Terpsythea, famous for its brothels and cutthroats that patrol the streets.

Many plantations exist in Teprsythea, but the most famous one is actually located on the island of Sycrone the west. Cultivating imported banana trees and exotic farm animals, it's inhabited by many hobbit, dwarven and troll slaves. Many suspect that there's an underground smuggling operation ongoing, with the Harpy's Eyes syndicate paying Koman to push the White Death narcotic towards Hithlone and Azan.

The only other proper city in the Republic is also located outside of Terpsythea, in the island of Cerato. It's full of villas, brothels and pleasure houses, and it's where certain rich merchants of Hithlone go after retirement or whenever they want to take a small "vacation".

>Millitary

The Hithloneans are proud of their naval power, where many war and merchant fleets are being constructed at the Arsenal and the other shipyards of Hithlone. So high is the number of constructed ships that Hithlone leases a large part of them to other nations that lack the necessary manpower or expertise to build them. However, there have been concerns of the large deforestation happening in Terpsythea, with many shipowners resorting to cutting trees from the Kinoog Jungle or other areas in order to meet their demands.

>Foreign Relations

The Triarchy - Relations are good between the two nations, as the Three Sisters buy wine and pearls from Hithlone, while they supply them with slaves from all over.

Moreelse - Another city that's descended from former Drow slaves. Relations between the two Republics is cordial, although they have been souring over the years thanks to Moreelse's inabillity to cleanse their city of the Hydra's Eyes filth, who spread their narcotics in Hithlone.

The Last Remnants - Hithlone sympathizes with them, as they once too were under the yoke of the Drow. They plan on "liberating" them and incorporating them into the Republic, planning on sowing dissent between the humans and the drow first.

>Bestiary
Seconding maybe we could even get some art from the drawthread
>>
>>84996128
I think those areas change hands between the drow and Azan fairly often, but I don't think they are usually hardcore enslaved by the drow because the drow don't like spending time on the surface except in the volcano lands where there is little sunlight, instead areas that are subjected by the drow would pay heavy tribute in exchange for not being hit by raids.

Kinnog is mostly outlaws that settled after the drow pulled out the last time around. Red Lotus is religious cultists that settled there after the drow pulled out.

>>85000243
When writing some of the other lore sections, I assumed the Western Elf Empire was mostly wood/primal elves, but I guess the Drow Empire can also be called the Western Elf Empire, history tends to repeat itself

>>85002219
Whenever you are doing a major update on a region, it is probably a good idea to run keyword searches on all the threads. There are a lot of small interlinkages that don't end up on the wiki page for a particular nation that may be under another nation, plus some good discussion that didn't make it onto the wiki

>>85002279

Here's those trade routes you mentioned.
>>
>>85002319
Thats reasonable, and a question many biologists have attempted to answer. Its unsure where the theory came from, but it's believed that at one point a swarm of knifefish encountered a source of primal earthen energy, either naturally or divinely, and it transformed them into the Shaler variety. Some druids, either in conjunction with nature studies or for their own means, have tried to recreate this event. Unfortunately, there are no records of this sort of expirement being successful yet.
The unlikelyhood of such an event happening, as well as the fact it seems non-repeatable, would explain why there appears to be a singular migratory swarm of Shaler.
>>
Azan, Azhar Nar, Lorient, Nasr - Apart from being trade partners, they barely interact with them in any other way, although they are open to supporting Azan if another Drow-Azan war was to break out.

Isle of Wizards and Arangea - Many wizards and alchemists from these places visit the Citadel, although almost all of them return to their main nations once they complete their studies.

Terusia - Trade occurs between those two nations, although Hithlone greatly supports Azan's original plans of creating an isthmus, something that would open up a huge market towards the north of Giantstep, without needing to go around the Sea Elven states.

Orc'Eire - Many Hithlone ships stop by Orc'Eire to resupply when heading for Kinoog. As such, trade is common between these two, although not in large quantities.

Former Kingdom of Kinoog - Officially Kinnog is far too unimportant to be of interest to the elite in Hithlone, but unofficially some councilors are customers of its slaving operations (via the Triarchy) or in the pocket of the Hydra’s Eyes. Many shipowners buy lumber from the local communities there, or they land with their own workers, chopping down parts of the jungle by their own.

Drow City-States - The dislike between those is mutual, and Hithlone wants to liberate the areas of the Drow that are majority human. Trade is not common between them, although many agents and spies are planted amongst the Drow's elite ever since Hithlone was just a vassal.

>>85003525
Yeah, Braavos (alongside St. Petersburg, Venice, Sibenik etc) was one of my biggest inspirations for this one so I forgot to change some things up. I always assumed the Western Elf Empire was Drow and a succesor state of the Drow confederacy, since wars between Azan and the Drow are often mentioned in the lore.

Also I realised it's not "Kinoog" but "Kinnog", welp.

Hmm
Is there some place for small "pockets" of crytal caves like the Cave of crystals in mexico or is there something that contradicts its existence in the point of lore.

The idea is that the crystaline destroyers are too small in numbers to make a difference in anything yet by their nature they are too OP to exist on the surface in great numbers.

So a realitively large crystalised cave under the ashlands which was originaly some underground lake heated up by a magma chamber under it then later on crystalized. After some time by some means the crytalines infested the place. Its not a livable place its meant to be an all or nothing destination point either get the riches of the underworld or get mangled by nigh indestructible crystal bugs.

Location is on the volcanic ashlands ( more specific location is given to someone who is better at illustrating it on a map)

Okay so 1N 27W tile.

And the Blurb.

Chambers of the lustrous is the name.
Deepth: 1780 metres ( main chamber could be more deeper)
At first it could be mistaken for a similar cave formed by volcanic activity and as for the first 500 meters it seems like it is aside from the unnatural amounts of geodes.
Starting from around 540 meters the cave reveals its specialty various sized chambers stuffed with exotic gems and crystals. Originaly theorised these chambers contained water.
The cave houses many branch leading into various chambers filled with either crystal structures or volcanic rocks like granite. But the main route leading straight to the deepest region is a constantly widening cavity " many desribe the cave's shape as an underground three and the chambers being its fruits.
At the deepest part there is the entrance of the main chamber.
The Main chamber is colossal in size from its walls colossal crystal pillars potrude in fact its so overgrown that its nearly imposible to see beyond a few dozen meters.
It contains immense wealth worth in the most exotic and rare minerals the world has ever known. But this place is a home to a variety of extremely hostile anomalies.
Aside from the hot and oxygen scarce enviroment thisbplace is plagued by extremely hostile inhabitants one of them is the crystaline destroyers while encountering them is unlikely and even then its more likely to be encountered by the smaller relatively easy to deal with types there is always a chance. Aside from them the plqce is littered with other "entities" like "trees" and "water" made out of crystal materials these things have a habit of liking water so contact with them is often lethal either getting skewered by fast growing spikes (the "trees") or solidifying inside the body and shredding you apart from the inside (the "water") and who knows what horrors can be found deeper.

The cave has an obscure and small yet rich history (1/2)

History years from now:
-1200-1300 years: a theorized date when a currently unknown Azani Saint was born in a "mouth of a cave with a glittering gullet" validity is unknown.
-980 years: first known discovery of the cave with the intention to mine out possible resources never happened.
874 years: second discovery by a group of religious explorers and in the next 10 to 12 years they explore the first 700 meters .
840-720 years: Great scale mining for the mineral riches of the cave deepest point 1245 meters.
682 years: first attempt to go to the bottom of the cave through the main shaft with an estimated 50 man group failed none came back.
674 years: The revelation of Saint Moyha while the book barely mentions it it was the first written example about the existence of the main chamber.
646 years the discovery of the main chamber
645-475 years: various expeditions and mining experiments to exploit the main chamber.
467-466 years: the first and only succesful instance of bringing up to the crystaline water to the surface legends say it was a favoured torturing and executioner device of one of the late Drow queens.
420-360 years: The Great Swarming an event that shrouded in mistery. Large amounts of Crystaline destroyers started to move upwards from the main chamber qnd stopper around 500 meters. Nobody know the cause.
297 years: the tradition of a yearly slave mining experiment has started. Blessed by their gods the nobility of the actual city state controlling the Chambers will send 81 slaves and 9 willing chosen to lead them for a "gift for salvation" to the main chambers it is rare is when someone survives this trial but when it happens the chosen will accomplish great deeds and become leaders of their kind...or so the tradition says. But nonetheless whatever they bring up is extremely valuable so one way or the other someone won.

>>
>>85006950
I already posted a day/night cycle proposition. But I'll repost it here.

Starting with the assumption the world is flat, there's nothing to make us think there isn't a three dimensional space, thus we can put things both above and below the world.

I propose there are two pairs of celestial bodies orbiting around the plain world. An orbit with two suns, and orbit with two moons. Each body is on the polar opposite of the other within their own orbits, rotating around the world. Thus, each day has one sun and one moon different from the day before.

I mean, I've used the lore of the regions to make it. I guess I could try and make it look more natural and add more intermediary biomes, but that would need a lot of assumptions on my part, not to mention time. I could add land borders so we know what biome belongs to what country, which I'm probably going to do anyway once the anon making the political map finishes it.

>>85006873
For this we'd need a lot of lore written about how the work actually works beforehand.

since the world is flat, we will have to give new explanations for alot of the things we take for granted in our reality (eg. gravity, the basis for cardinal directions etc.)

>the sun and moon are actually the chariots of two gods

What if instead of a orbital path its more like a U-shaped path. The sun dips down and is closest to the plane at the desert, then dips back up into the night sky, same for the moon. The gods follow a parabolic path that makes them unseen when they race off into the astral.

Going to jot something down real fast. Let me know if you guys think it fits or not.

In Azan tradition, dragons are divided into 2 (technically 3 but not relevant here), Drakes, sometimes called Tyrannic Dragons; and Divine Dragons, which the Azan call Aezar. According to the Azan, the dragons were the servents, and sometimes children of the Gods. In some cults, they were the gods themselves. A titanic war broke out among the Gods, and a dark enemy. (Some hushed communities within the Azan culture to this day claim that the enemy was the firstborn among the dragons, whose name has been purged from history for his treachery.) When the war began, the dragons who sided with the Gods in defense of the world and Mankind were rewarded with wisdom, halo's, and the ability to shapeshift, while those who sided with the enemy were cursed. Some became feral beasts entirely, while others were consumed by their impulses and greed, forever preventing them from uniting against the Gods again.

In the first days, the dragons flew by divine grace alone, but after this sundering, the Tyrannical Dragons, to their great shame, grew wings to fly as birds do. Only the Aezar continue to fly unassisted. Since those ancient days, the dragons have slowly left the world to its own devices. Most are believed to remain on large mountaintops, or deep withing deserts and tundras in quiet meditation. Many fateful adventures have been made in attempts to find one, either for its wisdom, or some treasure legend tells that they have.

It is the Aezar that the Azan Tieflings claim descent from, though no one has been able to find a dragon to validate that claim. The similarities of the dragons to the Tieflings in appearance and temperament, in addition to the stark heat tolerance that the Azan possess, points to the claim being, at least in part, true.

Benzovarr (drow city southwest of Kuri’tas-Sii), 800m f.s. – Moderate sized Lolthite city, last rulers of the Cornfloor Peninsula before they decided maintaining a presence there was not economical

Kuri’tas-Sii (already on map) – One of several drow cities that worship Infernus, the Volcano God. Known for its fire magic and proficiency commanding fire demons

The Endless Crypt (location #1), 200m f.s. – This massive tomb network from a now forgotten culture contains tens of thousands of bodies on slabs, shallow pools, and nooks carved into the tunnel walls. They are unusually well preserved despite the jungle climate and presence of vermin, no one knows how

Morigrad (location #2), 900m f.s – This massive coastal fort was once the capital of Kinnog back when it was a dwarven kingdom. Several large sea caves were expanded and fortified to form a large, partially enclosed harbor, while mines and vaults extend nearly a kilometer below the surface. It has occasionally been partially occupied since the fall of Kinnog, particularly by drow, but these days, infestations block the main entrances, while some of the lesser entrance ways are used by smugglers and bandits

Also, the Wet Caves was supposed to be pointed at the goblin cave in Kinnog, the Boom Cave was supposed to be in southern Changrila (references the goblin boomer meme, which is also in southern Changrila), and you missed The Burrow, which could work for any of the hobbit locations, though I did reference one on the map here >>84982647

>>85008198
I think we have a pretty good grasp of where the goblins, ogres, and trolls particularly dominant. Orcs seem limited to the far west, harpies have been mentioned a few times, same with bugbears, dryads, vampires, liches, and merfolk

There is also some monster races that dominate entire regions, but are probably present in smaller numbers elsewhere, and non-sentient monsters only found in one region that can be expanded to others

The heavenly procession and the two moons and stars works together. The giant staircase idea is interesting, but then theres the issue of the gravity. Are there enormous cliffs at the edge of the ocean? does water from the oceans flow down the steps for eternity, coming from and returning to nowhere?

Separate idea that isn't related to the staircase: What if the world(or maybe steps of the staircase?) was curved ever so slightly as to be in an enormous ring surrounding a star(which is slightly off-center), with another located a ways above that star. The two moons are very large orbit the center star closely, creating the nights and causing the lengths of the days to vary depending on how close they are to the star in orbit. Although this means that gravity for the inhabitants would have to be caused by the immense depth of this ring. With this idea, in order for there to be a second sun it wold have to be far above and away from the first one, and could cause different night/day by the ring rotating at an angle perpendicular to it's curve.
>>
>>85012348
The problem with that is that that is an optical illusion, and doesn't actually go up and down at the same time because there must be a point at which the stairs stop, and the part that looks like it connects to them is actually just at a different depth and blah blah blah you know how the stairs work.
>>
>>85012376
I would imagine the closer you got to the edge, the more insanely tall the ocean would look until it the water appeared to bend like an asymptote at an equation. If you kept pushing forward, the water would get steeper and steeper, but the distance you covered is basically nonexistent.

For every step you take into the void: everyone, everything, and all that you know gets infinitely further. You turn around, but it's already too late. oh, well it seems like we aren't going with the strip idea anyways in favor of the Penrose staircase.
The worlds on the other steps probably won't be filled out in favor of filling out our own step more. think of the other steps as this settings version of outer space. The final frontier, although you will never step there, many dream of great starship battles, entire worlds, galaxies, and dimensions yet to be explored. This is just the same. an infinite expanse yet to be explored.

I was thinking a bit slower than that. More like once every generation an old star ascends and a new star rises to take its place. Every year seems a tad extreme, less momentous.
>>
>>85013982
>Once a generation
So once every thirty years a star and a moon ascend one step. Makes for either a huge celebration or a time of troubles, depending on what cosmic fuckery occurs.
>>
I've added a simple entry for the Heavenly Procession in the wiki. Until we hammer down how we want the stairway to function (up/down) or penrose or weirder, I'm going to leave that for another anon as well as the path the stars and moons take since that will likely be subject to change as well.

so who is the most powerful individual in this setting? is it the vampire? the gnoll emperor? vandervax the vile?
>>
>>85015083
I think a dickmeassuring contest like that would go nowhere. The Gnoll Emperor is not exactly 'specced' to be an individual combatant.

He can summon and control undead, rapidly heal his injuries and mass-produce maggots.

I'd say the Gnoll Empire is the single nation with most military might, but they are dimplomatically isolated and infighting is common. Realistically if they tried attacking Changrila or something they'd get their ass kicked due to diplomatic alliances and bad terrain.

Vandervax we know little about, beyond him being a holy-warrior pre-undeath? If he was some sort of palladin and retained his swordsmanship skills he'd be a force to be reckoned with and absolutely terrifying.

The creature with most raw-power still hanging around are likely the God of Gluttony considering he brought his domain the Isle of food to this reality and "The Lord who came from the sky" which is a tortoise which casually shattered reality and is just looking in, but those 2 beings are very passive.

I'd also imagine the Dragongod King could pack a punch in a fight considering he alone held off the Gnoll Empire for 3 wars only to be defeated by trickery, but he also got severely injured doing so and was already long past his prime.

There is also probably some Amazing grand wizards on the Island of Wizards, Changrila and some Martial Artists in Changrila... and let's not forget the Bog Witch. No clue how strong she could be.

Do countries in this setting prefer flags or coats of arms?

large settlements, regions, royal families, armies etc would have coats of arms if you are looking to do some
smaller towns might revert back to flags, likely sharing a colour scheme/design with its nation

Sniden is a strange land with even stranger people. It's occupied by deformed humans, ogres, elves, halflings and hobbits, who despite all, somehow live in total harmony.

It's ruled by a giant worm-like creature with the head of a human being. This creature, known as "God-Emperor Adonis" by its inhabitants, has been around for a long, long, time. There have been mentions of this God-Emperor by the Elves of Elfwood almost 3000 years ago.

The manworm can speak every language in the world and has the abillity of prescience, being able to predict events before those happen. The inhabitants of Sniden worship the manworm as a God and offer him daily tribute, although it's useless to him.

The council of Sniden consists of caterpillar men who spend most of their day smoking hookah, inhaling a drug known as "scatterweed" that's said to be able to give its smoker the abillity to see glimpses of the future.

Trade is almost non existent in Sniden and only happens between villages and towns. Outsiders avoid this queer place, seeing nothing of worth in its grotesque inhabitants.

God-Emperor Adonis has been warning the people of Sniden of the "Krazylek", the imminent struggle between the ultimate forces of good versus evil that would lead to the end of the world as we know it.

>Flesh Sculptors

Flesh culptors are a group of Vzdoruye that occupy the secret city of Mossovoy. They are responsible for altering the bodies that the necromancers bring to them. Using advanced surgical and magical methods, they are able to manipulate the human body to their will.

They often create hybrids using the corpses that they are given. Ogres and gibberlings, spiders and oviscentauresses, the list of horrifying creations goes on and on. They are also known to operate on the living, as many desperate people from Zapalovah or the Land of Windmills visit the dreaded Zvdoruye. The Flesh Sculptors can use body parts from the various fresh bodies to replace the missing ones of the living. New eyes and prosthetic limbs are one of the few operations done.

However, the prices of those operations are astronomical, and some cynics have speculated that through the various implants, the Vzdoruye agents are able to see through the eyes of the beholder.

I wrote a lot to expand Ögchuk lore:

The culture of the Ögchuk fiefdoms largely revolves around the garl, the mount of the Ögchuk riders. A garl is a horse horselike creature, with four inspectoid wings, with an insectile head with a set of compound eyes and mighty pincers on its head. The body is like a harless horse. An Ögchuk will bond with one or more garls from childhood, learning the art of riding one through land and sky as intimately as walking. While there are many within the fiefdoms have no access to garls, only a rider, or son of one can call himself a true Ögchuk.

The Ögchuk are loosely organized in a set of clans, each clan denotes ancestry from a legendary Ögchuk, foreign noble, or having been adopted into the clan. While Ögchuks are often very proud of their clan, there are many clanless ones as well, and clan membership does not denote clan LOYALTY, as infighting is just as common as conflict between clans.

The council of 23 is what closest constitutes an Ögchuk central authority. Situated in Vakögchuk, the council are the only entity allowed to make binding decisions for all Ögchuk. They mostly deal with religious matters, external threats and are the final authority on the delegation of honorary titles. Membership in the council is for life, and on the death of one, the council decides the new member in a secretive process. Every 6 years, or when the council deems it necessary, the council holds the Graciögchu, a great meeting of Ögchuks, where one can bring up ones grievances to the council.

(Part 1)
>>
>>85018647
While there are over 200 different titles in Ögchuk society they can be categorized in four groups: Warriors, knights, lords and the Lord of Flags. A warrior is the ordinary Ögchuk, almost always being pledged to the service of a higher rider, or holding a small fiefdom at maximum a hamlet of 3-10 people. A knight usually have a few warriors working for him, and control larger fiefdoms at the size of villages or larger areas. A lord is an Ögchuk controlling large areas of land, or a city, with knights and many warriors under his control. A Lord of the Flags is the closest thing to an Ögchuk marshal or king. It is a temporary position, being named by the council of 23 for a set amount of times in times of crisis or the invasion of a foreign nation. There is no set amount of Lords of flags. During a punitive invasion from Changrila 4 clan leaders were named Lord of Flags to not offend anyone. The Changrila army was beaten back, but the Ögchuk could do no counter-invasion, as the four lords ended up quarreling over who would lead the Vanguard.

The pride of an Ögchuk is his dhur band, a band of knotted coloured cloth, sometimes with pearls or gold attached. Having a band or more is a great honor for an Ögchuk. A warrior is entitled one band around his leg, or around his arm with the permission of a lord as a reward for mighty deeds. A knight is entitled to one on his arm and one on his leg, or 2 on his arm if not in the service of a lord. A Lord is entitled to 3 on his arm. A Lord of Flags can have 3 on his arm like a lord, and to carry the 3 flags of Vakögchuk. The combination of the color of the band, as well as style, number and size of the knots, and any embroidery or jewelry is complex symbol, denoting the wearers clan, father, accomplishment, strong features, lord, and fiefdom. Besting a rival Ögchuk in battle means you are entitled to his dhur band, and these are often hung upon a spear or saddle.

>>
>>85018690
There are a large number of fiefdoms, ranging in size from two houses and a an orchard of plum trees, to the size of a small nation.

Vakögchuk: Vakögchuk is the largest city within the fiefdoms, it holds the seat of the council of 23, and is considered neutral ground for all Ögchuk. No fighting is allowed in the city, and therefore it is often the site of non-violent conflict resolution between knights or lords.

Vokichen: Vokichen lies on the border of Dsrvyth. The people of this city and area around are known as strong warriors, often being hired as mercenaries for Dsrvyth. The largest fiefdom of the area, the fiefdom of Vokichen, constitutes the city and most of the land around. It is currently held by Ghataç, patriarch of the Ök-Fuvhen clan.

Gorok: Gorok is the richest city within the fiefdoms, trading with the neighbouring Changrila. The area around is largely peaceful, dominated by fat knights and wealthy merchants.

Northern fiefdoms: The area north of Vokichen and Gorok is the most contentious area of the fiefdoms. Hundreds of competing Ögchuks fight over the land, with every rising lord quickly being despatched by his rivals.

Central fiefdoms: In the centre of the lands of the Ögchuk lies the city of Ükmen and the fiefdom of Gkum, as well as the golden plains, the legendary land of clan Ök-Farfh, now split between 15 knights, all dreaming of lordship.

South-eastern coast: the south eastern coast is dominated by the fiefdom of lord Grakkc. The area has the largest concentration of Garl roosts, and as such is frequented by people from the rest of the fiefdoms.

(Part 3)
>>
>>85018746
Ögchuk religion consists mostly of ancestor-worship, with tales of legendary heroes being an important part of the rites. Shamans and Priestesses are important for every fiefdom, with any lord worth his salt having a dozen to consult the spirits and bless his weapons and Garl. The Ögchuk also pays tribute, sometimes token and sometimes genuinely, to the Changrila God-emperor as a "living spirit." Ritual combat is also important for the culture of the fiefdoms, with two Ögchuks on foot covered in Garl blood beating each other half to death with wooden clubs in a haze of incense being a sacred rite.

The Ögchuk also worship the two moons as watchful protectors, and sometimes take pilgrimages to the giants handprint as penance for sins if commanded by a shaman or the council. Those surviving the journey are considered cleansed, and are forgiven any wrongdoing.

Couple of major and minor cities I was thinking of drawing up. It isn't hard to just try and jam Byzantine Greek and Japanese together to see what works.

Essalor/Essakor
Elrazo
Arkaea
Rial/Rikaea
Tosan/Tozan
Tinsari
Telkaris
Insarka
Riosen

Nananikor is the only canon city in the region I believe(which I like to break into Nan, which I homebrew as meaning New, and Anikor, the actual name of the city, perhaps meaning Capital. Making Essakor something like Old/Eastern Capital) I love etymology.
Example artifacts could be...
Enchanted (magic exists right?) Katana/Longsword
Red pearl/gemstone that is claimed by the person sending the party to be a dragon scale/egg
A legit dragon scale or horn
An ancient blademasters book of techniques
Enchanted obsidian armor from an ancient warrior
You can get real creative. I'm torn about leaning into the Jap or Greek influences.

Like, in my head, rural super traditional Azanese people are basically ninja villages, and the closer you get to bigger cities, the stronger the Greek influence becomes, like the culture has changed over time. The rural Azan see the city dwellers as weak and undisciplined, while the city folk see the rurals, if they know about them at all, as skilled, but behind on the times, and unequipped to handle the modern world.

Several Azanese cities appear in >>85009652, but it is only the very southeast corner of the Empire

Etymology of Nananikor makes sense. It has been the capital for over a millennium, but the Dragon/Azan Empire is several millennia old, so there was probably other capitals
>>
So we never figured it out. Is the Western Elf Empire actually the Drow Empire? And the Drow Confederacy succeeded the Empire, yes?
>>
>>85019844
Gnoll Empire is more African tribals/Egypt, maybe WItchelves because they are close to changrila 'cause they are chinks
>>
>>85019418
Vandrivex the Vile is a Lich who has set up his army of undead in the Okhost archipelago, so it's fair to assume that he's been there for a while.

The Gnoll Emperor is also a lich, so he's goddamn old too.

>>85015853
According to this, the God Emperor is over 3000 years old althoug he's been chilling.

And according to the Vampire entry:

>Elder Vampires are the oldest of the oldest, with some saying that they are the fathers of vampirism, and have lived in Giantstep longer than any man, dwarf, halfling, elf or any other living race. When Lesandros, Biblion and Qadash were in their infancy, Elder Vampires were already ancient.

So, the current (and last surviving?) Elder Vampire is several thousands years old, I'd fathom.
>>
>>85019898
Western Elf Empire were wood elves/primal elves (and perhaps others) conquered by Azan, but one anon also referred to the drow as the Western Elf Empire, so perhaps the drow empire/unified nation took on the name "Western Elf Empire" to increase their legitimacy.

>>85019732
I kind of assumed the eastern inspired stuff in Azan came from the Changrila region back when they were unified under one Empire. There would have been a decent amount of migration between regions, so the rural population would be mostly indigenous Azan (greek/byzantine) with some small pockets of migrants who haven't really integrated despite being there for centuries/millennia, while the cities would be more cosmopolitan, especially the larger coastal cities.
>>
>>85020046
ok, so maybe we can refer to the Drow Empire as the "2nd Western Elf Empire" or some shit, which was followed by the Drow confederacy which was split into multiple city states.

There were several proposals on thread 3, the most consistend divisions include a north, a southwest and an east I believe.
>>
Changing Big Rock Candy Mountain Lore to include local lore from the surrounding areas.
Such as:
>Joois clan believes it to be their promised land, aka the land of milk and honey aka giantstep version of Israel.
Since Azan Empire is basically giantstep Byzantium this checks out.

Wrong map Terminus should be back on the southern edge of the map. That's where it was originally.

Troll King Skrug, forcibly summoned from his world, ripped from his kingdom and his wargaming, languishes now within an arcane prison. His regenerative flesh is harvested daily by silent minions of his jailor. Large as a small fort and the pinnacle of his race, the once-king Skrug is now a mere source of flesh and experimentation.

i like to add something called "death metal" to all my settings. basicaly starsteel, or metioric iron. vibrates lightly when near something with a soul.
you can give it all sorts of hardcore magic properties. i like to keep it pretty high level. in order to attune to it you have to bond your soul to it. that means no afterlife, and you enter the object. if its a weapon i deals arcane damage that ignores resistances. it can only be worked by elder smiths, usually resurrected from the dead to work once again. requires a blood sacrifice to quench. additional magical effects depending on who or what was sacrificed. some bad cult might have deathmetal weapons, but the mineral content is only 10% deathmetal and 90% iron/steel. still real crazy. or perhapse an ancient king of a long forgotten kingdom had his soul placed into a death metal suit of armor, but it was broken apart by some good/bad wizards, each piece hidden in some corner of the world. maybe also all the death metal in this world are the physical remnants of a dead god, its bones remade into weapons. perhaps their use nourishes it.

also what about, some unstable magic element. uranium. but blue. formed when copper or maybe sand is near an open manavent, or source of incredibly high and sustained raw arcane force. it turns to a brittle, blue, semi-translucent element that radiates that same power for years to come. maybe folk recharge shards of it like batteries. maybe shards are good for hundreds of years and are a prime component in high end magical implements. no doubt touching it, or sleeping near a bit will at best sterilize you, but im sure there is a wacked out group that imbed bits into their flesh to unlock dope power

Campaign anon here. What races do we have in setting or would be common enough to be PC races? Campaign will be set during the current Cold War between the Azan and Drow with the Azan sending a group of adventurers into Drow lands to look for something...

If anyone has better campaign hooks I am willing to take some suggestions. I just want to slowly introduce the players into the setting.
>>
>>85023559
from the western part of the setting, the main races include:

humans (potentially different stats for different cultures)
dwarves
hobbits (mountain clans, shire-type, or merchant type)
garden gnomes
demon tieflings
"dragon tieflings" - not sure what they are supposed to look like yet, maybe they are just dragonborn
drow
half-drow (half-human)
half-elves (wood/primal elf mixed with human)
witch-elves (basically dark elves from warhammer)
sea elves
joois (basically khajiit from TES)
orcs

If you want to do something more weird, there is also trolls, ogres, brownies, ogre-human-halfling mixes, harpies, goblins, bugbears, half-drow-half-wood elves, lobster-squid mixes, sheep-centaurs, dryads, and eel-folk, but I have a harder time seeing these races as mercenaries in a lawful country, and also a lot of them would probably cause game balance issues at low levels.

Hey, I'm the guy who has been writing a majority of the Bobbit the Hobbit story as of late. I've had a grand total of 0 inspiration to write much of anything recently, so I'm sorry there hasn't been anything written by me since what was last posted. I'm going to keep writing eventually, but I don't know when something will next come to me

I'm really glad to have you here. Just enjoy the thread, and when the time comes the great hobbit scholar will write again.

don't forget the Amazonians
succubae
and Oviscentauresses (she-eep)
>>
>>85016847
some parts of the big rock candy mountain
(I'm not done writing lore though)

that sounds pretty cool.
I like this idea
>>
>>85023957
Amazonians and succubi would also be pretty overpowered for a low level campaign, not to mention succubi would only really work for an evil campaign.

I did mention the sheep, but called them sheep-centaurs.

Another one I forgot is half witch-elves (half humans) since it is mentioned they sometimes work as mercenaries, though usually as borderline slave fodder for larger mercenary companies.

>Daligrad Province

>History:

Daligrad’s history is murky. The oldest structures in the province are the remains of a small dwarven town with outlying farming communities, though they likely aren’t the area’s first inhabitants.

Humans later settled the area, and coexisted peacefully with the dwarves. About two thousand years ago, the area was absorbed into the Azan/Dragon Empire, though perhaps not for the first time.

As the northernmost province on the main continent, Daligrad became very important militarily. The city itself expanded as it attracted businesses catering to the northern legions, while many forts were built in the outlying regions of the province. Many campaigns against the northwestern fey were launched from Daligrad, but the fey fought back, allying themselves with darker creatures like gibberlings, harpies, and ogres, and thus the Azan Empire never expanded north along the coast past Daligrad.

As the Azan Empire began to crumble, Daligrad was one of the few outlying areas that made no real effort to rebel. As far as the nobles and other power brokers of the province were concerned, the legions garrisoning the province were simply too good a source of income. However, Daligrad’s sleazy reputation and skill at tax avoidance meant that Azan had no real reason to protect it, especially after peace was made with the northwestern fey.

After most of the legions left, Daligrad doubled down on its reputation as a free for all city where any vice is catered to. This has helped make up for some of the lost profit, though there are plenty of other places it competes with for the vice market.

These days, Daligrad finds itself in a rather precarious position, hit by frequent raids from Mutaa’s realm, occasional raids by the gibberlings and succubi, and growing tensions with the rogue province of Kalydon.

>Government:

Daligrad has a governor (exarch) loyal to Azan, though his control of the legion and the bureaucracy is undermined by widespread corruption.

Real power tends to reside in the criminal gangs that run the city, and who also sometimes have holdings in the smaller towns and villages. Some examples include:

Wharf-Side Gals: A group of exiled witch-elves that run prostitutes, bordellos, and casinos in one of the main harbor districts. They cater to almost any kink and pride themselves in recruiting from around the continent.

The Goodly Bank: A seemingly benevolent bank run by humans and dwarves, the leader is actually a witch allied with Mutaa, and those who end up owing too much money are often forced into accepting strange geas and/or forfeiting odd body parts.

The Red Palace: This sprawling complex is the city’s largest bordello, made up of three interlinked city blocks catering to all sorts of customers and price ranges. It is theoretically run by rogue witch-elves, but is actually run by succubi, with the help of witch-elves and others devoted to the Succubus Queen. It is also a major hub for the slave and drug trade.

The Canal Dredgers: A not so secret branch of the Harpy/Hydra’s Eyes, the Dredgers control the distribution of White Death, and are also involved in parts of the slave trade, alchemy trade, and other parts of the drug trade.

>Economy:

The city of Daligrad itself relies heavily on various vice industries to keep its economy afloat. Overall it is not a wealthy city. Once one of the larger cities in the Azan Empire, much of it has become run down, and some sections completely abandoned. But desperate folk and outlaws from all over keep coming, drawn by the dirt cheap housing and lack of effective law enforcement.

Some organizations are of course very wealthy, though they rarely flaunt it, knowing full well the city is filled with desperate thieves.

The outlying areas are much the same. Frequent raids by the bog-witches, gibberlings, and succubi have given the rural parts of Daligrad a very frontier feel. Although the legion does what it can, the longer lasting communities often have other unofficial protectors, like retired adventurers or criminal organizations. The temperate, somewhat swampy region grows a wide range of crops and livestock, including wheat, potatoes, rice, sheep, and swine, though farms tend to be small, crude, and well defended due to the risk of raids.

Daligrad doesn’t export any legal high value goods, but does import a wide range of items from basic food and drink to high end textiles. Unofficially though, Daligrad is a major hub for the import and export of illegal drugs and slavery.

>Foreign Relations:

Azan Empire – Daligrad is a part of the Azan Empire, though ties are somewhat weak. Widespread corruption and involvement in the drug and slave trade haven’t endeared Daligrad to the good folk of Azan, and none of them would miss it much if it rebelled or was conquered. However, some of the not-so-good folk of Azan have strong interests in Daligrad, and probably push for Azan to defend it if needed.

Siuerland and Kalydon – As much as Azan doesn’t like Daligrad, it likes these two rogue provinces of unstable religious fanatics far less. Any hostile action against Daligrad by either of these two provinces would be seen as an excuse for a war Azan has long sought justification for.

Mutaa’s Realm – The main threat to Daligrad, Mutaa’s agents are everywhere in Daligrad Province. Like Mutaa herself, they seem to enjoy tricking folk into signing unfair contracts simply for the fun of it, though they sometimes do active raids as well.
>>
>>85025402

Succubi – Although few realize it, a small nascent succubi breach known as the Orgia Breach allows the succubi to stir up trouble in Daligrad and Kalydon. Like their on and off allies in Mutaa’s Realm, the succubi seem to prefer terror tactics, mind games, and corruption to outright violence, but raids are still not uncommon.

Evergreen Pastures and the Baalps – The humans of the Baalps are close cousins to Daligrad’s long time inhabitants. Some of the humans and other Daligrad residents on the north side of the province are known to have an affection for the she-eep.

>Geography:

A small province, it is heavily forested by temperate forest, which sometimes conceal small bogs and coastal marshes. However, there are also a decent number of meadows and farms, with the meadows often being the locations of abandoned farming communities.

>Demographics:

Humans – The main inhabitants of the province are humans. Many long time inhabitants are cousins to the people of the Baalps, Gvilderstaaten, and the nations north of the drow city-states, and therefore have paler skin and fairer hair. Others are more recent arrivals from the core regions of the Azan Empire and generally have darker skin and hair.

Dwarves – Dwarves have long lived in this region, bolstered by more recent migrations from dwarves fleeing the fall of the kingdoms in the Baalps, and later some smaller migrations from Gautlan and the core Azan Empire.

Witch-Elves and Half-Breeds – Daligrad’s immoral nature and cheap real estate make it a popular destination for witch-elves who oppose the succubus worshipping theocracy back home, but who see little place for themselves in places like Azan where morals are stricter. However, some of these “rogue” witch-elves are secretly still worshippers of the Succubus Queen, and follow their own dark agendas.
>>
>>85025405

Bog Witches and Succubi – Although few in number, and usually disguised, witches and succubi are well placed to cause all sorts of problems in Daligrad for their idle amusement.

Ogres, goblins, grutzlings, kikimora, and other bog creatures – Small tribes of creatures that serve the bog-witches will sometimes migrate into Daligrad Province, though they usually limit themselves to raiding and falling back to the bogs.

Giberlings, harpies, dryads, and will-o-wisps – These monsters also sometimes migrate into Daligrad from wilder regions, occasionally raiding in an uncoordinated fashion.

Goblins and eel-folk – Some goblins and most eel-folk prefer to mind their own business and are often overlooked as a result. Sometimes poorly informed newcomers will mistake them for monsters and either flee or attack.

She-eep – Adventurous She-eep are rare but not unheard of in the northern part of the province, and sometimes enter the city of Daligrad itself.

>Religion:

The New Azan Faith is still moderately popular here, though many folk prefer the Triple God Faith popular in Scimitaria due to its less stringent moral restrictions. Many folk aren’t really religious at all.

Secretly some witch-elves worship the Gogotha the Succubus Queen still, while agents of the Bog Witch more or less worship her, though the nature of their religion is unclear.

>Military:

Daligrad is home to a single legion of the Azanese Army, plus a few naval units. Daligrad is considered a poor posting, and many troops posted here are either incompetent or corrupt. Alternately, some were perhaps a bit too pure, but had corrupt officers.

The various criminal gangs collectively also have many fighters and spellcasters, and aren’t above hiring mercenary companies if needed.

Finally, most rural folk are a part of one of many militias, the first line of defence against all sorts of raiders.
