what the fuck, was this there the whole time???

We used to play evo games on this very board, even. Of course, the audience for that kind of thing hasn't posted here in about 8 to 10 years.

god, now I feel old.
>>

Do you know where they've gone now?
>>
>>93615780
In theory they should have gone to /qst/ but more likely they just went on towards other hobbies. Banning games killed this board.

No, but I know the Sagan people still accept new players for their planets. You could play with them or their forums might have a lead on other play groups.

2010 was roughly the time when everything went to shit. rulesets becoming less autistic and requiring less rulebooks, necrons becoming shit, wizards of the coast and games workshop gradually becoming weird...
some good tabletop games after it but otherwise everything started degrading and driving old fans away to replace them with new ones

back then there were old beards playing stuff in the corner, now there are no more old beards, i have a beard and there is nobody to play with and the new ones are idiots
take me back

The image is a cladogram from the second link. There's a bunch more of them, I just grabbed what I thought was the most interesting one. Here's another.

Unless you mean what the fuck is an evolution game. It's when a bunch of bored drawfags get together and start "evolving" made-up animals.

I think it's because nobody ever talks about evo games unless it's to other people who play them. I think that's a damn shame, because some of them are great to just read, too.

There's a ton of links to ones run on /tg/ and /qst/ here:

There is a fervent debate in the twilight zone oculus community. Are you an eye female or a tail female? The resounding answer, after 10000 years of debate, is a decisive "yes."

The mouth for the Sandy Eeleye now opens along a large portion of its upper digestive tract. By coincidence, the anatomy of the oral flaps and the muscular channel within both allow a powerful suction force to be brought to bear. It can strip an area it lands on clean of algae and bacteria slimes in the same time it takes to swallow.

OP here, I actually knew evo games dated at least as far back as 2006 the whole time (in fact, I'm a prolific contributor to the one I linked in the first post) and wanted to spark a discussion for research purposes and to get a wide breadth of perspectives on evolution games, especially from sites where they were especially popular for a time :)

This thread was very informative, and I even pitched into the evo game--I'm actually the guy who kept making that one lineage's eyes bigger, lmao. Attached is a screenshot of the folder with all the images I did.

(I'm a digital archeologist and evo games stoke my autism)
>>
>>93684113
Make another thread for this one. Don't let it die
>>93684060
I've been a little scared to say it, I didn't want to ruin our friendship. But I can't just not say anything. I love you and I have since I first met you. I didn't want to be your friends out some manipulation tactic to get you to like me, I'm just a coward who missed his chance. But I had to say something.
>>
>>93684167
Any name suggestions? On thisisnotatrueending I tagged it as "Threadjacker Evolution Game", but I'm not the one who hijacked the thread and started the evo game, so I don't want to step on toes here.
>>
>>93684199
Don't name it yet. We can make one in a thread with traffic that isn't about to die.
>>
>>93684237
So we should hijack another thread instead of making a new one? Not sure the mods will like that, as funny as it would be. I was about to post a new one in /qst/ with the thread title "WTWEGV'10? (Evolution Game part 2)"
>>
>>93684258
god damn that v was supposed to be a b. good thing I didn't hit post yet
>>
>>93684237
Since I don't want to irritate the mods (I think this one only worked because the thread was already about evolution games), I went ahead and made it as a completely new thread.
