Let's get cracking! You can catch up with the archive of part 1 here:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Jara%20and%20the%20Valley%20of%20Secrets

There's an abridged version here:

http://imgur.com/gallery/ncUU6

Previously: Due to some questionable decisions and awful rolls, our plucky adventurer is dead, and about 1820 years have passed since her reincarnation in the Demon Realm. She's spent 1800 of those years as an obsidian statue. In that time a religion based on her big ass rose from obscurity to conquer and civilize all of Hell. A few centuries ago it fell to barbarians. Oh well.

For the last hundred years or so she's been buried in a trash heap outside of Ass City, the once-capital of all Hell. Now she wakes. From her point of view, she was teleported to this strange place by the wand she used on herself.

Oh and there's a snake behind her. Actually it's her tail now. Because of some poor rolls earlier, it's an evil snake tail. Its evil nature does not necessarily mean that it will hinder Jara--but it might betray her, if it sees an opportunity for itself, or the rolls go to shit.

A crawler pod trundles by. A figure steps out with an Anomaly Scanner. His keen eyes have spotted movement. The Demons are looking for something here. Jara has no idea what any of this stuff is.

Let's roll a d3 to see what the snake-tail does, as it woke up a few minutes before Jara.

1: The snake-tail lets out a shrill squeal, alerting the scavenger to Jara's presence.
2: The snake-tail waits for the scavenger to pass, then bites him in the leg.
3: The snake-tail lifts a nearby rock and throws it as a distraction, giving Jara time to free herself from the dried mud.

I'd also like a second roll to find out about the scavenger. A d10 please.

1: the scavenger is a mad, cannibalistic demon who recently stole a crawler pod and ate the original owner.
2-5: the scavenger works for Mecha-Arzelus, searching for parts of the Human World Portal device.
6-8: the scavenger is simply in it for the money, and he works his way through the trash of Ass City in search of anything that might be worth a buck or two.
9-10: the scavenger is a secret Asstolicist--now a forbidden, underground religion--and Jara is their messiah.

Not sure yet, but I think a human Wizard might have insulted Arzelus in the past.

The snake's true nature will be revealed through rolls. He has been imbued with a randomized evil soul, and perhaps his nature is yet to fully settle.

"It--it's you," says the Scavenger. "The Ass that Straddles the World! And your defilement is intact! There have been many imitators...but none knew of the horror and insult that the barbarians wrought upon your tail. You were lost for centuries! You must come with me, quickly--it's not safe for you here!"

"NO!" wails the snake tail. "Away! We must run away! Into the trash, into the hills! This one is no friend! No friend!"

Jara has just enough time to scramble to her feet. What's next for her? Go with the Scavenger, run into the trash heap to gather her thoughts, or something else?

Roll a d10. First roll >= 7 decides.

The crawler pod tears away from Ass City with Jara on board. As it races through the ruins, it is spotted by the airship above, which belongs to none other than Mecha-Arzelus himself. Crawler pods are common enough in the ruins, but they rarely seem as hurried as this one.

Roll a d3.

1: The mecha-Demons send an intercept ship to inspect the crawler pod.
2: The mecha-Demons can't spare the men right now, but attempt to disable the pod remotely with a glue cannon.
3: The mecha-Demon who should be running the ground scanner is on a break, and his intern is working the scanner in his place. The intern sees nothing out of the ordinary.

The glue cannon strikes the crawler pod, immobilizing it and blocking the main door with a pearly, cement-like substance.

"Look girl," says Louie. "Back here--I think we could squeeze out this vent! Leave him, it's his own stupid fault!"

"I might have an idea," says the Scavenger. "In my profession you accumulate a great many trinkets and doodads...boots from one century, a helmet from another...we might have enough here to make you and your snake friend a passable disguise. We can pass you off as my new apprentice."

What disguise do they put together? Let's do a MULTI ROLL MULTI ROLL multi roll...

Roll 1: d5, headwear

1: a mask of some undecaying flesh
2: leaded goggles
3: bunny ears
4: a reptilian cowl
5: a mecha-Demon army helmet

Roll 2, d5, torso:

1: a jacket of human leather
2: a stout apron and toolbelt
3: a fur bikini
4: a skintight reptile t-shirt
5: a mecha-Demon chest vent

Roll 3, d5, legs
1: assless chaps made of faces
2: jean shorts
3: a fur g-string, leopard print
4: reptile booty shorts and boot combo
5: mecha-Demon tentacle legs

And finally, Roll 4, d5, a disguise for Louie:
1: an extra-large condom and some duct tape
2: a prank party snake
3: a leopard-print fur tail
4: a tiny hat and moustache
5: baby doll torso and limbs

1: "Are you kidding me? What makes you think I'd have a specific ring? We have business at hand."
2-3: "No, but if it's rings you want I might have a few in the drawer that I've never had identified...take that copper one, it might be worth something."
4: "for you, Messiah...take my ring of undead detection, it's done good by me since I was a lad."

Out of curiosity, what was the ring? Seeing as it doesn't matter now
>>
>>110754
Just a small brass ring that we never got to identify. Jara found it among her belongings, which she was collecting to prepare for a journey through the demon realm, along with a magic scroll, which she also never got to use. The scroll was "A scroll of Dactyl Eye View, allowing her a peek of the layout of the entire realm." But the first person to reply with a roll higher than 5 decided not to "use the scroll just yet." Though, I don't blame them- they couldn't have predicted that 5 minutes into her trek, Jara would be turned into stone for about 1,800 years. :^)
>>
Oh nah, I was just asking what the ring would have been had we identified it, out of curiosity. I have been in the threads
I'm the dude that got her brother turned into a boob embiggening ghost
>>
>>110969
It would have required an identification roll to decide its curse status, but it was a ring of Charm Lower Creature. If cursed, it would have bonded to her finger and caused lower creatures to find her unbearably attractive. If uncursed, she might have used the Goreiphant as a mount.
>>
>>111158
Wow... we should've used that ring

Jk the story is great no matter which way it goes
>>
>>111158

It's time to decide the fate of Jara's physical form. As we know, the Star-Nosed Moles have her now, and the moles will use slaves of any species in their gemstone mines. Their control collars give them absolute power over their thralls, overriding all brain function. To maintain their slaves, they collect fresh bodies from their caves or the world above and use the parts. They decide to use Jara's comatose body as the basis of a new slave; the tiny spark of fungus-sustained life left in the body will help the grafts to heal quickly.

In stock they have a recently dead Star-Nosed Molewoman, the body of a deadly Cave Croctopus that once threatened their mines, and the still-warm body of a village girl stolen from her grave.

What parts do they use? I need four rolls!

Missing Eye (roll a d4):
1: How many eyes does she really need? Just sew the hole shut.
2: The eye of a Star-Nosed Mole corpse.
3: The eye of a Cave Croctopus.
4: The eye of a fresh village girl corpse; it's a good match.

Missing Scalp and Facial tissue (roll a d4):
1: Just sew the gaps together and let's hit the bar.
2: Patches of Star-Nosed Moleskin.
3: Cave Croctopus skin and minor tentacles.
4: Blonde village girl scalp and facial tissue (lightly-freckled).

What's going on with her chest? (roll a d4):
1: Just leave it...our medicine can't fix this!
2: I think we have a couple of Star-Nosed Mole teats laying around...
3: Let's graft a couple of Cave Croctopus tentacles on there.
4: The village girl was very well endowed...no point wasting the flesh.

Looks like her right arm has been cooked to the bone (roll a d4):
1: Amputate. She only needs one arm to use a pick.
2: It's not a perfect match, but a Star-Nosed Mole Arm will help her dig.
3: Come on, let's give her a Croctopus tentacle! Those are badass!
4: A human will be more productive with a human arm. This village girl is a good match.

Let's see how that turns out.

Can I get a roll--a d3 please--to see if her control collar has any bugs...

1: No, the control collar is perfect. She'll be a perfect zombie slave until such time as the collar is removed.
2: The control collar refuses to take--some kind of fungus is interfering with it. Oh well--just dump her somewhere.
3: The control collar bugs out and zombie-Jara goes on a rampage

Very interesting!

Well, the Star-Nosed Moles have an underground network that can reach many parts of the Valley of Secrets. So where do they dump her slumbering half-Croctopus zombie body? You can choose from:

The Forbidden City
The Pit of Wonders
The Troll Eerie (now gentrified)
The Wizard's Mushroom Tower
The Wizard's Freak Circus
The Wizard's Harem Village
Birdsong Bluffs, a peaceful village
The Hall of Bones

Zombie-Jara is abandoned by the road leading to the Freak Circus. It's not long before a traveler heading in that direction spots her.

Tell me about the traveler. Roll a d7.

1: He's a flesh-merchant, and he seeks girls to sell to his awful clientèle...being a zombie just means he won't need to drug her!
2: He travels the Valley of Secrets looking for freaks for the wizard's Freak Circus. This is like the heavens themselves just sent him a freak. Freak girls are worth so much more.
3: He's a simple innkeeper, on his way to the circus to deliver a few barrels of beer. We'll roll afterwards to see what he does.
4: It's a woman who grew up near the base of the Wizard's Mushroom Tower, and she vaguely recognizes Jara and chooses to look after her.
5: It's a sorcerer who would like nothing more than to understand the secrets of the Wizard's Mushroom Tower. He spies a few pale caps growing from a rent in Jara's scalp.
6: It's the Ringmaster himself. We'll roll again to see how he reacts to Jara.

The Freakcatcher wastes no time. He leaps at Jara with his freak net!

But what's this? Jara herself is a soulless zombie, but her Croctopus tentacles seem to detect the threat, and stir...

Hmm...aren't Croctopus nervous systems distributed around their tentacles? They say a disembodied tentacle has a limited ability to think for itself!

Time to roll! Gimme a d3!

1: The tentacles flail uselessly but without coordination, as the Freakcatcher has sprung from Jara's blind side.
2: The tentacles swipe the net aside and strangle the Freakcatcher, then slowly dismember him. The Freaks in the Freak Wagon freak out and run.
3: The tentacles swipe the net aside and knock the Freakcatcher out, then they pull Jara over to the Freak Wagon where they investigate the piteous whining from within.

Zombie-Jara is not alone in the rear of the Freakcatcher's wagon. She's been tied with a Silent Giant, a heavily pregnant Peckwife, and a Half-Demon Boy.

Her tentacles are naturally inquisitive, and love nothing more than picking locks and untying knots. So!

Roll a d10. If it's >= 4, she unties the Silent Giant's bonds. I imagine that will cause a bit of a ruckus.

The Freakcatcher drops off his cargo with the Ringmaster and leaves a much wealthier man.

The Ringmaster directs the four to their new living quarters, a row of squalid cells behind the latrines.

You have one chance to redeem yourselves here. As Jara passes the Ringmaster, the tentacles reach towards the jangling of keys.

Roll a d10!

If it's <= 5 (that's LESS THAN), the tentacle scoops up the keyring without the Ringmaster noticing.

(this is OP)

Oh shit what's this? A mecha-Demon patrol is assembling in the bowels of Mecha-Arzelus's airship.

They have a few things to check out, including a crawler pod that was behaving suspiciously earlier.

Tell me about the patrol members:

Roll a d3 to decide the first crewmember.

1: Dravis, the easily-agitated arachnid butcher with spinnarets full of poly-metal web
2: Hoggis, the pig-faced pervert with wandering hands
3: Nu-Zel, a soft-headed demon that mostly just misses his brother

Roll a d3 to decide the second crewmember.

1: Needle-Eye, the sniper that shot the Pope of Cheeks
2: Thud-Thud, an almost all-mechanical brute
3: Yessir, an archer still getting used to his enhancements

Roll a d3 to decide the sub-sentient heavy hitter.

1: A mechanised, undead, very ancient, fairly pissed-off Armored Goreiphant
2: Blast Slug, a cannon-wielding gastropod with an insatiable hunger
3: Scrizzard, a 15-foot chameleon with a mile-long tongue-whip

Roll a d3 to decide the patrol leader.

1: Cruddem, Lord of Dung-Bugs
2: Hisser, Lord of Snakes
3: Rolnedas, Lord of Scavengers, and Leandros's estranged son

Roll a d3 to tell me about their Interceptor vehicle.

1: It's a top-of-the-line Airslasher 9000, and it could theoretically reach orbital speed from a standing start
2: It's a Floatgas Dropship, a reliable way to move heavy things for short distances, though loaded with volatile Floatgas
3: They could only spare a rusted-out Patrol Platform, basically an open-air metal plate on glider wings with a winch cable linking it back to the Airship

Finally, roll a d3 to tell me about their general disposition.

1: They need to prove themselves to Mecha-Arzelus. He might be watching, and brutality is all he respects.
2: The hunt for the Human World Portal is the most important thing. They'd prefer prisoners for questioning.
3: Demons need to think about themselves sometimes, and might be open to a bribe.

So to recap, the first 6 d3 rolls after this post will set the scene for tonight's encounter.

Please just roll once (dice+1d3), and once per player (unless 6 unique players don't roll before this evening...)

To summarise then:

Nu-Zel, Yessir, a highly-modded Goreiphant of some deep and dark origin, Rolnedas, a shitty patrol platform, and they are out for blood!

Well done!
>>
Nice, so it's going to be a fanatical leader with a incompetent crew and a shitty vehicle.
>>
>>122490
So they are the Red team to our Blue team.
They get the jokes, and we get the plot.
>>
Are we mentally capable enough to fight?
>>
We'll start with a free decision later once the patrol arrives and just before they cuts through the door. So have a think.

Rolnedas and his father are not on good terms to say the least. It's going to be a tough chat if they come face to face.

Nu-Zel and Yessir are, as you say, basically incompetents, but should not be underestimated.

The ancient undead Armored Goreiphant is a total wildcard. I might decide its history first.

The patrol platform is fairly rudimentary and the winch cable could end up as one way Jara might get to the airship, if that's something she even remotely wants to do (their original intention was to return to the secret Asstolicists).

Also there's no telling what kind of shit Baby Louie might pull.
>>
>>122500
If we want yo think in terms of relative power class, Nu-Zel and Yessir are C-class, Rolendas is A-class, similar to his father. Demon-Jara--not having had the benefit of years of adventuring--is something like an E-class, but I'm sure she's quick enough on her feet to make a decisive offensive move if the dice are in her favor. I don't think that she'll be able to punch her way out of this one, but there are other kinds of attack.
>>
>>122519
For reference, what class was human jara?
>>
>>122537
DD, but she's only been lightly adventuring for a while and there's no telling what her potential might be.
>>
Rough power class guide:

F: everyday villager
E: villager who works a tough physical job
D: new low-level adventurer, skeleton guards
DD: low-level adventurer on the cusp of improvement
C: experienced adventurer, lower mecha-Demon.
B: decent martial artist, successful sellsword.
A: can shatter bones with a punch, leap ten feet
AA: legendary, peak physical prowess for a non-magical human being
S: can put a hole in steel plate with a punch, leap thirty feet, usually augmented by some magical power

But it's only a relative measure and it's only when it serves the story...

Rolnedas decides to hang back and let his men do their jobs, under his careful direction.

"Alright lads, who's going to crack the shell?"

Roll a d2 to see who approaches the crawler pod first.

1: Rolnedas decides to send in the Goreiphant, he looks eager enough today. He should have no trouble burning the glue off with his rocket nozzle, or just punching through one of the windows.
2: Rolnedas decides to send Nu-Zel to cut the door open with that can-opener of his.

Either way, Yessir will hang back to skewer anyone who tries to run.

The Goreiphant lets out a low rumble of agreement.

Roll a d3 to see what it does.

1: The Goreiphant charges, and attempts to punch its way through the front of the crawler pod.
2: The Goreiphant turns its rocket nozzle on the whole mess, heating the glue to melting point, possibly roasting anyone inside.
3: The Goreiphant carefully cuts a hole in one of the windows with its serrated trunk.

>>
>>124537
well when we used the staff on ourselves we whatever that thing was called was charging us and we did have the end pointing towards whatever was charging us so if I had to guess... I'd say once we turned ourselves to stone we had enough mass and the thing had enough force behind it's charge to skewer itself on the staff.
>>
>>124537
probably it got stuck in the goreiphant when he rammed to us 1800 years ago.

The Goreiphant grinds its trunk against the window, slowly working its way through the glass.

Jara recognizes the Goreiphant. Oh boy...it's the same one from earlier! (Earlier today? How'd it get so big?) Oh well...it's the same one!

It's time for our first recognition check! Let's see if the disguise has done us any good. Roll a d10.

1, 2 or 3: The Goreiphant recognizes Jara. It flies into a berserker rage. We'll roll again to see what exactly it does.
4, 5 or 6: The Goreiphant does not recognize Jara, but her proximity to the Wizard's Staff embedded in its chest causes it to react, as she was its last user. We'll roll to see how the reaction turns out.
7-10: The Goreiphant does not recognize Jara at all, and finishes the job of grinding through the window.

Either way there will be an inventory of the crawler pod and a free turn after this.

"That thing in its chest!" says Leandros. "I'll bet that's what my Anomaly Scanner has been picking up. It seems to have activated somehow. We should probably stand well back."

"Forget him," says Louie. "Look, the glass is almost broken! Kick it through and try and yank that thing out! If it's powerful, we want it, right?!"

Run to the rear of the crawler pod and wait to see what happens, or try to break the glass and claim the staff--or do something else? What do you do? First to roll >= 7 decides.

...Jara SPRINGS towards the rapidly transforming Goreiphant as the arrow ZIPS toward them...

And now I NEED TWO EMERGENCY ROLLS

Roll 1, d3:

1: Jara's grasp slips through the staff like it isn't quite there, and she comes away empty handed
2: Jara grabs the staff, but she can't pull it free
3: Jara pulls the staff free in a single motion

Roll 2, d8, because Yessir's aim isn't great:
1: The arrow strikes Jara in the chest.
2: The arrow strikes Jara in the leg.
3: The arrow strikes Jara in her outstretched arm.
4: The arrow strikes Louie.
5: The arrow strikes the staff.
6: The arrow strikes the Goreiphant.

I mean, we did have our soul wrenched from our body, then our old body riddled with fungus that grew into a tower before being ripped from said tower and thrown into a pit of lava, later to be turned into a sort of soulless Frankenstein's Monster of a thing. Our soul was reincarnated, retaining "some semblance" of our human form, before we accidentally turned ourselves into a statue for 1,800 years. Our statue tail was defiled and vandalized, carved into a snake by barbarians. So, yeah, I mean, we kinda got more than a scratch, honestly. :^)
