Rules: Dice are to be rolled best of 3, and only after a decision has been made to prevent bandwagoning a high roll or avoiding a low roll. The quest is designed so it can it be played independently of previous quests; however, you can find the previous quest at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/47807/ .

"Onii-chan I'm cold. Could you warm me up by crafting a speargun with mahogany plywood, heading off the coast to hunt whales for their oils to sell oil fueled lamps, while making sure you don't offend the merfolk, then trading your speargun to a Sahuagin who's been having a difficult time fishing, both to make her life easier and so I can add her harpoon to my shelf of collectibles? "

"Of course," you responded. Anything to make your sister feel better.

It's been around two weeks since your sister last had a cold spell. You had figured it was around time that she'd be having another fit. Your sister has been having cold spells from before she had become an undead. No one had expected the trend to carry on even after her passing. As expected, the legendary KEY AIDs are nothing to be trifled with. You'd taken her to see countless experts, with results all being inconclusive. The only thing that seems to calm these fits is following through with her requests. At the very least, it couldn't make the condition worst.

You had it pretty easy last time. All you had to do was spread anti-dark elf propaganda on your favorite Elven anime imageboard; take your favorite hearse service to Madeline Private Girl's Academy where you met a daughter of an elder of the Sylphyra clan (whose name you never got) who you convinced that Dark elves were failing to uphold their end of a treaty, upon which said elf ran off back to the Sylphyra Clan, asking you to come give testimony; disrupted your sister's Dark elf history teacher, Ms. Yao Venmyar, in the middle of her lesson; managed to get Yao to extend the deadline to your sister's history paper, and successfully got Yao's number.

This time the request is a bit more complicated. As you can see there are two independent subtasks: starting a whaling/lamp business and obtaining a Sahuagin's harpoon.

Yup. To make your sister the most happy we should do exactly as she says. It's the best way to make sure things get done according to plan anyhow. You should start off with making the speargun. It's a bit strange for her to specify the kind of wood that you need to use but that's fine.

Mahogany Plywood huh? Well, it's kind of expensive, but it should do the job. You're not too sure how much you'll need to make a speargun though. There are a few options here you could do a bit more research independently to find out how much you need, and look up all the other supplies you might need as well to make your very own speargun or you could buy what you can find and make that work or you could just go to a professional and get one custom made for you. You might just be able to find a speargun with your favorite e-commerce service, Lemongrass Prime, anyway.

You have $20,000 in your bank account. Although, if you really needed it, you could probably beg your mom for some more money.

It's for your sister and for her you'll do whatever it takes. She deserves the best and only the best. You decide to take the time and do the research to make the speargun with all your heart. Even if it doesn't look the best or shoot with the most pressure or even have nearly as long as a range as other spearguns, it's yours and it'll be the only one out there this way. Maybe it'll be like others. You'll probably have to find a guide to make the gun, but when you carve it, all those imperfections you make, that'll make the gun yours. You'll etch in it your essence and brotherly love for your sister.

After a google of 'How to make a wooden speargun you find a 3d Model that will give you the dimensions you need to make a working speargun. Excellent! As you see it, you'll need 6 pieces of 8mm thick 4x8 plywood, some epoxy, but you'll have to find some tools to handle the wood and a place large enough to work in. This might be a bit of a problem.

After you find the materials and tools you need. You could

Woodwork is definitely in an Elf's domain. And uh, the only elf in your contacts is your sister's history teacher, Yao. Dark Elves might not be as savvy as you'd expect Wood elves to be, given their names and all, but they probably do know better than you nevertheless.

You whip your cell out and give Yao a call. It takes a few moments for the call to connect, but you hear a voice on the other end of the line.

It comes out a bit sluggish, but you think you hear, "Huh? Who is this?"

"Hey. This is Ren, Zombimouto's brother. I kind of broke into your class two weeks back. Remember me?"

You hear a laugh, one that's muffled, but still quite audible, before the response finally comes, "Oh, you. I didn't think you'd actually call. So you feel like taking my job on Monday, or better yet the entire week?"

You probably wouldn't mind subbing in for her on Monday but you do have a lot on your plate right now.

"Sorry Yao. I don't think I can, I'll be a bit busy."

A disappointed sigh comes across followed by, "Aw, damn. A break would have been real nice. So, then," and after a pause, the voice resumes, faintly higher and much more energetic this time, "Why are you calling?"

"I've got a task that may require some Elf-like talents. Are you busy? How about we talk about it over dinner?"

"Dinner yeah. Definitely not busy later."

The response this time comes in at a quicker pace and you hear something fall on the ground? You think you might also pick up another female voice, further away this time, laughing.

The voice resumes, "Sorry, I stumbled and dropped my phone. Where are we having dinner?"

"How about Cafe Conundrum? I hear that place is pretty good."
She seems a bit nervous as her voice cracks a bit, as she replies, "Café Conundrum? I can't really afford that." A hollow laugh follows, and she continues, "A teacher's wage you know?"

You figure you owe her one for breaking into her classroom and you're asking for her help after all.

"No problem. I'll take care of the bill. Don't worry. Does 8 o'clock sound good for you?"

"Sure I'll meet you there."

"Well, I'll see you then."

You hang up the phone and reserve a table for two at Café Conundrum. You're lucky that there's a last second opening, because it's pretty difficult to reserve on the same day there.

You decide you need to change. It'd be pretty embarrassing to look out of place. The attire there is comfortable yet stylish threads. A cardigan sweater with a polo shirt underneath and khaki jeans should do.

Before you know it, it's time to head to the restaurant. You take the Hearse as always, and arrive around ten minutes early. As you head in you see a young Squirrel Girl receptionist and you say that you have a reservation for 2 under the name Ren. She leads you to your table, where surprisingly Yao is already seated. She's wearing a mantle with leather bindings, showing off her ample cleavage. She notices you and a big smiles emerges from her face.

You scratch your head and ask, "Sorry, I didn't make you wait too long did I?"

"Of course not. I just got here too."

You make some small talk and order dishes and a bottle of white wine. While you're waiting for your dishes you decide that this is the perfect opportunity to ask Yao about the mahogany plywood.

"So about that construction project I'm working on. I figure elves are good at woodwork, so you might know a thing or two about where I could get some mahogany plywood and if there's anywhere that'd be convenient and has woodworking tools."

"Yeah, sure. For woodworking tools, there's Pulze's Workshop. It's run by a gnome. He can be grouchy at times, but he always gives a fair deal and offers to help if you're struggling. I'll talk to Pulze tomorrow and see what I can get set up for you. What kind of project are you working on anyway?"

"I'm trying to handmake a speargun with mahogany plywood for my sister. She has a collection of items from different cultures."

"Oh? You really go out of the way for your sister. If I remember correctly, you interrupted my lesson so she could get an extra week on that history paper. It was one of the better ones in the class. "

"Right. We've been close since we were kids. Our dad likes to go off adventuring so he was never really there and our mom, well she's a bit of a recluse, and when she did come out of her lab, she tried to get us to learn all sorts of things from her. We depended on each other a lot growing up."

"That's really sweet. How about I give your sister this for her collection?" Yao takes off a twisted horn-shaped necklace, and continues, "It's a charm my people wear. It's to ward off curses and for general protection."

You take the necklace from Yao, putting it in your pocket, and sincerely thank her, saying, "I'm sure she'll appreciate it."

"I hope she gets better. She's been missing a lot of class recently."

"Yeah, me too." It's a bit of a sensitive subject, so you try to bring back the topic before. "So what about mahogany plywood. Where would I get that?"

"Oh don't worry about it too much, Pulze has all the supplies you'll need. You just need to rent part of his workshop for a few hours and he'll include everything you need."

Your wine and smoked salmon platter come out. The plating is absolutely stunning. Chives on top of roe with a crème fraiche and a slice of smoked salmon on pumpernickel bread. It makes your mouth water. The server pours your glasses of wine and the two of you enjoy your appetizer. The salmon melts in your mouth being creamy and soft, quite delectable.

The meal continues and the two of you have a good time talking about a wide range of topic from how her days at work are incredibly tiring to the latest hits on the charts by Sabbath.

Before the meal ends you ask her:

"About what we talked about before you left class that day. The treaty. How did that go?"

Yao stands up all of a sudden, leaning towards you, and plants a kiss on your cheek. There's some of her purple lipstick on your cheek. She grabs a napkin and wipes if off. She giggles before revealing in a low voice, "They were definitely planning something. Thanks for the heads up. You might have saved my people. They haven't made their move yet, but it shouldn't be too long. From what I've heard all they've been doing is sneaking around. No one really knows what they're look."

With a mischievous grin, you ask, "Just a kiss on the chin for saving your entire people. Surely they're worth more than that."

In a playful tone, she replies to your quip, "Maybe from any other girl. But I'm worth quite a bit, myself."

"Aren't you always complaining about how your teaching wages are too low for all the work you have to put into it?"

She lets out a desolate sigh and waves her hands around signaling defeat, "Ha-, don't remind me. I really am worth a lot to the clan though, my father is the chief."

"So what are you doing all the way out here then? Working a dead-end job to top it all off?"

"I just wanted to get away and see the world. I'd read stories of how different the outside was and wanted to see it for myself. And being able to survive in the forest doesn't really help land a job in a metropolitan area like this."

It looks like Yao really isn't too happy with where she is in life, so maybe you could cheer her up by taking her on an adventure with you.

"Hey, what do you think about this. I'm starting up a new whaling business and could use a few helping hands. I could pay you double what you made before. And it'd be pretty exciting too."

"Making double would really help out with the rent. I don't know though. The principal helped me get that job and I feel I really owe her." You can hear hesitation in her voice.

"Look Yao, you deserve more than you're paid. You've asked for a raise a few times now right?"

"Yeah, but there's nothing they can do. Budget cuts and all, but the principal's been real good to me."

"But you have to think about you. Isn't this what you set out to do? See more of the world and live a good life? Do you want to not come to work everyday knowing you won't be appreciated, that students are just going to fall to sleep in the middle of your lectures anyway, no matter how much effort you put into it, or do you want to come with me and start something up with your own hands. "

Yao shuffles around her seat uncomfortably.

"Yao, come on. You have the right skill set for this job. Last time we saw each other, to be perfectly honest, I thought you were going to explode on me when we were alone. But you didn't. You knew that there were parts where you were lacking and were looking for places to improve. That's dedication and persistence. If you stick around that school, you'll just be wasting away your days."

She looks back at you and asks, "What can I even do for you? I don't know anything about whales or the ocean. Hunting is all I really know and I can't even do that if I don't know how to find let alone catch a whale."

"Don't worry about the details too much. Just believe in me, alright? It'll be a good change of pace for you. "

"But whaling-"

"No buts, just trust me, ok? We're in this together. I'll value you more as an employee than that principal ever did. I'll make sure you have a nice salary with good benefits as well."

She looks at you with tears forming in her eyes and finally accepts your invitation.

"Hey come on, don't start crying here. Let's have a drink to our new business."

You pour her another glass of wine and offer a cheers.

After enjoying your wine, you pay the bill. The two of you step outside the restaurant, and you remind her, "Call me tomorrow about Pulze, ok?"

"Sure thing, boss."

She wraps her arms around your neck, embracing you tightly, pressing her lips against yours, over and over, before letting go.

As you two go your separate ways, she turns around and waves goodbye to you.

"See you tomorrow, Ren."

Intermission for two hours while I eat dinner. I'll leave an interlude before I go though.

Interlude
"Tamamo here with you at Fox News. Today, we have Svensen, producer of smash hit documentary 'Where the Leaves Gather.' Svensen, good to see you. Thanks for being here. "

"It's a real pleasure, Tamamo. Great to be here."

"So tell us a bit about 'Where the Leaves Gather.'"

"Sure thing, Tamamo. Well, the documentary focuses on a particular instrument used in Dark elf traditional and contemporary music, a non-free aerophone, the Mewa. Now, the Mewa produces a beautiful sound, like a breeze blowing across a meadow, hence where the name 'Where the Leaves Gather' comes from. The performer plays her Mewa, and you wouldn't believe it; it's just like a magical sight, but you can see it in the documentary. Well, it isn't the same, you're missing the feel of gentleness in the air and an aura of serenity, but when the performer plays her Mewa like contemporary artist Eru does in the film, a wind carries through, across the forest, and the leaves follow, dancing in rhythm.

Of course not all pieces of Dark Elf music use the Mewa exclusively either, the Dark Elf Art Project is a good example of this. The perfomers sang and dance with the Mewa, a lute, and a few more instruments. Quite a few of the pieces they perform were done in homophony. You should really attend a Dark Elf concert if you have the chance, Tamamo."

Tamamo puts on a polite smile and replies, "Oh, I'll be sure to do that Svensen."

She lets out a small cough before continuing, "So, Cheshire Magazine has a piece out today that says that you allegedly took a bribe from the United Federation's Minister of Foreign Affairs to falsify your documentary. Your take on the matter?"

Svensen pauses and takes a moment to take the information in. He adjusts the tie he's wearing and says with a fervor, "Well, I'll tell you right now that claim is complete baloney. I actually haven't seen that article. Cheshire Magazine is tabloid trash. Humor me. Tell me what else they said. "

"Right, right. Of course."

Tamamo looks down and skims the printed out article she's holding titled, Scandal? Dark Elf Culture Falsified? Treaty between the Elves Broken? .

"Well, Svensen, it says here that the blowing in the wind, was most likely the result of an adept wind mage, and that the Dark Elves may intentionally be breaking a treaty about hunting and offering endangered animals to their Gods?"

"As for the first claim, it's ballocks. Find me a wind mage that can pull that off and I'll be damned. Even one. Hard, right? Yeah, you can't because it's impossible. Only wind spirits and elementals could have that level of control over the wind. And you know, for certain, that those spirits and elementals have eccentric natures. They'll do as they please. It'd be impossible to outright hire one."
>>
>>142380
"For the second one, let me tell you. The Dark elves are a small minority in The Federation and compared to the Wood Elves, they're not too great in number either. Perhaps if Dark Elf culture were completely eradicated, no one would remember in as short as twenty years. That's why I made the damn film.

Dark Elf music, and by extension Mewa performances, are used to carry on the Dark Elf culture. Now the Dark elves, they aren't a group that is well treated either. You know what the people tell me, they say that they aren't treated like humans. They're looked at like dogs. The ones that move out of the forest say, if they had known that what they were experiencing wasn't the norm they probably would have already commited suicide. Being beaten and abused on a daily basis, when they go out hunting for food. Starving, having to pick up scraps off the forest floor. Even having to sell their blood and flesh to live on another day. Imagine that as the norm, that's what Dark elves have it like.

One young Dark Elf I interviewed nearly broke my heart. I asked her what her greatest wish was. And you know what she said to me? 'I want to look like a Wood Elf. It's something that's right in front of me, but so far away. Something that should be a given. It's the one thing I haven't experienced.' She just wanted to be treated like the other elves. Now why would I make any of this up? "

"Powerful words. Thanks, for your time Svensen."

"It was a pleasure."

"That was Tamamo, here with Svensen, talking about the recent allegations against his documentary 'Where the Leaves Gather.' Inori will now be taking over to talk to you about the importance of offering fried tofu at your local temples."

The following day, you wake up and you're ready to get to work. You still have to get that speargun, go whaling, start up your oil lamp business, and find a Sahuagin willing to trade away her harpoon. Busy times, busy times.

Well, you managed to double your staff count in a single day, so you're off to a good start already. The only problem here is that you've only got $20,000 in your bank account. If you're going to be paying Yao $18 an hour with benefits like you promised her, you'll need to either make a killing with the business or find external funding.

You don't know when Yao is going to call you about Pulzes, so there's no point waiting around. May as well find something to do.

Your sister is your number one priority. You need to see if she is feeling well today, so you head to her room, knocking on the door before you enter.

She's still wrapped in her blanket, snug and soundly asleep. It'd be rude to wake her up, so you just use the back of your hand to press on her forehead, to see if she has a fever. Her forehead feels cool against your skin, so at the very least she isn't burning up. You pat her head and rustle around her hair.

With that, she wakes up, giving you a warm smile.

"Good morning, onii-chan."

You regret the headpat, but it seems it's already too late.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."

Your sister gets out of her blanket upon which you see that she's only dressed in her underwear. As a gentleman, you turn around. From behind you, you can hear your sister giggling before she says, "It's fine, onii-chan. I'm a bit better than yesterday. How are you doing with the harpoon?"

"Right, well, I managed to hire my first employee for my whaling business yesterday. Guess who it is?"

This question stumbles your sister for a while before she finally anwers, "Hmmm, Is it Jack? I haven't seen him in a while."

Jack, or Action Jack as you like to call him, is a friend from high school. In highschool you were the only one who stood by him when he came out, so the two of you are pretty close. It's true you haven't seen him a while, but that might be because he's busy. He's a male model and has had a lot of commercials recently. Maybe you should see how he's doing later.

"You can turn around now onii-chan. I'm dressed."

But back to your sister's question. You turn around and reply, "Nope. Not Jack. I haven't sene him a while. It'd be fun to have him around here again, right?"

"Eh? I don't know anyone else. Unless it's Vita."

You quickly deny this, "Definitely not Vita."

Vita is your cousin, whom your sister seems to have a rivalry with. It turns into a bit of a mess when the two of them are around each other. Unluckily enough, they're in the same class this year.

"It's your teacher, Ms. Venmyar."

"Ms. Venmyar? But she's so boring."

"That's only because she didn't like teaching. She should be more fun to be around after we go whaling. And on the topic of whales, did you have any specific whale in mind? Are sky whales fair game?"

Your sister looks at you extremely perplexed.

"Onii-chan, you want to hunt sky whales? You might want to get a bigger weapon then. Sky whales are tough to hunt. You should probably look into sky whales some more too, just to be sure."

"Of course, sky whales are a real man's challenge and you deserve the best. Well, I should get to business. You gave me a lot to do yesterday."

You kiss your sisters forehead before heading out of the room.

Whaling it is. Hunting normals whales probably won't be too difficult by itself, and if you decide to take on sky whales, well, you think you have a plan for that took. You could just take the Skeleton Dragon out, and as long as your mom never finds out, she won't get angry. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. But uh, how the hell are you supposed to sell whale oiled lamps? Those things have been retired for nearly a hundred years now.

Fuck. Off the bat, you can already think of some problems.

First off, you can't really imagine the merfolk being too excited about whaling taking off again. Thankfully, if you go sky whale hunting, you can avoid this. But, the tourism industry might not take kindly if you hunt too many.

Secondly, fish oil smells pretty damn awful. You don't expect whale oil to be any better.

And most importantly, the price. Would it even be profitable selling whale oil lamps? How are you supposed to pay Yao's salary, rent a play to harvest whale blubber and turn it to oil, and market the product?

You head back to your room and use a skill that you've laboriously gained through being told to >lurk moar and dozens of counts of blue-balls from not being able to find an image that some dipshit cropped for god knows what reason, an essential technique to any web denizen, the art of google-fu.

After a few hours of furiously scouring through poorly written blogs and unnecessarily javascript-riden product sites, taking a break here and there to watch some Elven cartoons, you think you may have a solution to some of your problems.

You realize that you can use the entire whale. You can use the bones to make more ammo for your speargun, sell the meat to Eastern Kingdom, so they can make sushi, and you might even be able to sell the skin to make leather.

As for the foul odor issue, there's scented oils. This stuff works off of a mixture of at least 90% Isopropyl alchohol, a fragrance, and some oil. You can sell it as a premium product. Well that might depend on how well the marketing turns out, but that's the goal anyway.

What the hell are these fragrance names though? Dancing Under the Moon? Youth Dew Amber Nude? Love's True Bluish Light? What's that supposed to smell like? Sometimes even google-sensei can't solve everything.

When you're thinking that, Yao calls you. You pick up the phone and the first thing you hear is an excited Yao.

"Good news! Pulze decided to open shop today and said you can come in whenever. His shop is on Pine Street."

>You decide to go to Pulze's Workshop. You need a speargun to trade for a Sahuagin harpoon regardless of hunting regular or sky whales.

No matter what you have to get your hands on a speargun anyways, so you decided to Pulze's workshop. If he's has as good service as Yao claims, you should manage to finish your speargun in one session. Before that though, you go on youtube and double check your How to Make a Wooden Speargun playlist.

You take the hearse to Pine Street where you see Yao standing on the corner. You pay the kind horseman and get out of the cart. Yao raises her brows and starts to say something, but decides to not finish the thought. She leads you in to Pulze's workshop. It's a large area done with murky colors and overall looking a bit-old fashioned. The first thing you notice as you walk in is the amount of tools lying around the place.

You take a look around, and besides the two of you and a gnome, holding a stick, in green there's no one else. It seems you have the place to yourself today.

"Why hello, there lass. The little lady tells me you're lookin to make a speargun. Out of mahogany plywood no less."

"That's right. Can you help me with that?"

"Say no more." Pulze points you to the sheets of mahogany plywood behind him and shows you the carpentry tools around the room. And with a proud smile says, "I've even drawn you up a diagram. What do ya think, lass? With tha three of us here, we should finish in no time."

You're willing to take the help of an expert.

"Brilliant. Let's get started then."

The three of you divide up the schematic and start to saw out the basic shapes necessary for construction. The team decides to make use of a premade trigger and handle to save time. Messing around with those parts could lead to serious problems down the line, so you'll trust Pulze's decision here.

You cut an enclosed wood track with a dovetailed delrin muzzle reinforcement for the shaft. To do this you found the center and depth for the dovetail, cut it, tested the fit, and shaped the end of the delrin to match the start of the wood track. You continued by cutting a sharkfin slot, with a ball cutter behind it. You get Pulze to smooth it out to polish out the imperfections, then drill out slots for the trigger and coat it with epoxy before slotting it into the shaft.

Thankfully, you had Yao and Pulze to help you out with the complicated parts. After some polishing, sanding, and improvements from Pulze, you have your speargun.

You even now have a roller model, which you didn't expect in the beginning, as long as the spear isn't heavily damaged you should be able to roll it back and fish the catch in. It should be helpful for the Sahuagin, but not too much for whaling. Thankfully, the module was made detachable, so you can just shoot the spear if you'd like.

The process took an entire day's worth of time, but at least you've accomplished a major task. Now if you ever run into a Sahuagin you might be able to trade it for their harpoon.

You thank Pulze and Yao for their help and as you're about to leave, Yao mentions that she still has to give her two weeks notice, so she won't be able to start for another two weeks.

>You can probably make do without Yao for two weeks. There's still a sizable amount of logistics you need to cover.
>You ask Yao to skip her two weeks.
>You ask Yao if she can work nights then. It's a startup and a lot of work needs to be done.

"Don't worry about it too much Yao. You won't lose your job over the next two weeks. There's still a lot of planning to do."

That and you could probably find a suitable Sahuagin to trade the speargun with, given that time. If you went about planning your business and getting the necessary paperwork done, before meeting up with investors, accountants, lawyers and dealing with all that other nonsense, who knows when Zombie Imouto will get her harpoon? You really can't wait to see the excited look on her face, when you come home to show her that harpoon.

"Thanks Ren. That job better still be mine in two weeks. Or else I'm screwed."

You head home with your speargun, ready to tackle the world.

Some immediate worries on your mind are: the viability of the fragrance oil market, finding investors, getting that harpoon.

Tomorrow you'll

As you get up in the morning you plan to learn more about how the fragrance oil industry works. The Sahuagin can wait and it's probably a better idea to have a solid business model, five year plan, and exit strategy before you start talking with investors. Don't want to scare them off with being unprepared. Besides, you're sure if you walked in with a sample of your product, an angel investor wouldn't hesitate to sign you a fat check.

A brief search nets you the following results:

To operate a perfumed oil lamp a separate bottle, burner, wick, and perfumed oil is needed. You've got enough work on your hands, so you'll just stick to the perfumed oils for now, and if the markets are right, you'll consider expanding later.

You have two main sources of competition for the perfumed oil market right now: Lilirune, a company that sells "brand name" oils, and the shoddily done, but cheap knock off brands from Eastern Kingdom. It seems there just might be a market for quality but inexpensive fragrance oils.

You should choose a set of launch fragrances.

You can contact others that might know more or you can just wing it with the fragrances, does it really matter as long as it smells nice?

You may as well ask your mom. She's probably in her lab anyway.

You head out of your room and venture down towards the basement.

While large, the room is a horribly cluttered mess. The floor is stone and the walls are painted black. Light is sparse, only provided by candles scattered randomly across the floor. You have a hard time making it out, but you think your mom is currently harvesting a liver from some old corpse.

As the door slams shut, without turning her head your way, your mom shouts out, "My purse is in the corner, by the test tubes. Just don't knock over the Draught of Thirst. It's the purple slime in the vial."

You're hesitant, but you decide since you're already here, you may as well follow through.

"Hey mom, teach me a bit about alchemy."

She flings the liver and scalpel in her hands and rushes towards you, grabbing onto your shoulders and looking you straight in the eyes.

"Really? You're not lying to me right?"

"Of course-"

Before you can finish your sentence, your mom starts breaking out into a tangent.

"You're not as talented as your sister, but you're still my son nonetheless. I knew you had it on you…"

You stop her before she spends the rest of the day talking about your faults.

"Wait mom, I just want to know how to make a nice smelling potion."

With a menacing gaze on her face, she starts pointing at you , "Is this for a girl? I won't make you a love potion, you know? Even if she gives you her body, she'll never give you her heart! You have to chase after her properly!"

Your mom sighs and says with a pout, "First with dropping out of college and now drugging girls? You're really no good are you."

Before she completely looks in the wrong idea of you in her head you need to convince her you're not going to go off into the streets raping girls left and right.

Roll 1d8 to convince.

Your mom can get the wrong idea very quickly, so you rush out of the basement and run into your sister's room. Your imouto squirms around and looks at you confused, as you grab her in a princess carry, storming all the way back down to your mom. You've decided to shield yourself in case your mom decides to take drastic measures.

Luckily for you, you've guessed correctly. You notice was in the middle of casting a spell as you enter the room.

When your mom sees you holding your sister, you cries out, "Despicable! Holding your sister hostage," before putting a stop to the spell.

"Wait mom, listen. I'm making fragrance oils to sell. I'm starting up a whaling business. Zombie Imouto asked me to."

You take a look at your sister and hurriedly ask her, "Right? Right? Tell her."

Your sister glances back and forth between you and your mom before slowly saying, "Mmm, yeah."

Your mom blushes in embarrassment and is in no condition to talk, pacing back and forth, muttering things under her voice that you can't understand.

You take this time to carry your sister back to her room and cover her back up with a blanket. You thank your sister, and HOPEFULLY, THIS TIME YOUR MOM WILL LISTEN TO YOU.

When you decide it's safe to enter, you see your mom sitting on a stack of books with a set of jars next to her.

With a blush, she hands the jars over to you, saying, "Each is a different scent. A diluted drop should be enough for your oil. That should last you at least a year. I'll make you some more when you run out."

You carefully toss the jars into your bag of holding.

Your mom then proceeds to give you a 8-hour long lecture on alchemy.

Gained perfume mix and basic alchemy skills!

The day is nearly over, but you have some time left. Is there anything you want to do before the day is over?

You're on your way to BoozeBelly when you see a female automata being assaulted! The villain is trying to force brush her teeth wide in the open. This might just be an exhibitionist couple, but you can't take your chances. You pick up a brick and sneak up behind the non-consensual toothbrusher, wacking him on the head.

He collapses and the toothbrush falls out of the girls mouth. She starts coughing and spitting out the toothpaste.

Afterwards, she thanks you, "You have my sincerest thanks. That man grabbed me all of a sudden and stuck his toothbrush in my mouth. If you weren't here, who knows what would have happened?"

You laugh and offer her your hand.

She takes it and replies, "Aigis."

She starts humming and says, "Now lead the way."

The two of you walk, hand in hand, to BoozeBelly.

It seems rather full today, but the two of you can still find seats at the counter. You get an old fashion glass of whiskey while she decides to opt for a margarita.

She was a bit stiff at first, but once she had a couple more drinks, the two of you enjoy each other more. As the band plays a romantic tune, you ask her for a dance and she accepts.

Now, you're no dancer, but surprisingly, the two of you are right in sync. When the song ends, the rest of the pub offers applause towards the two of you.

Aegis gives you a kiss saying, "It was fun, but I have to head home now."

She gives you her number and says, "Call me," before leaving.

A productive day, you think.

Interlude
1 Week Ago:

A young female Wood Elf rushes into the Chamber of Elders.

She wastes no time for formalities, immediately shouting out, "Father, urgent news."

While there wasn't a meeting in place, the Chamber was not a place just anyone could barge into. Of the eight elders, three were currently present.

And older, but still youthful looking, male elf gets up from his seat and looks at the young Wood Elf with a stern expression, calmly rebuking her, "Tuka, mind your manners. Have you forgotten where you are?"

Tuka bows to the other Elders in apology and comes to a kneel.

In a much softer and stable tone Tuka reiterates, "Father, please. I have urgent news."

Tuka's father takes his seat again and replies, "You may continue."

The two other elders in the room pay close attention to Tuka as well. As an elder's daughter she wouldn't be acting in this manner unless there truly was an urgent matter.

"I have report that the Dark Elves are conspiring to attack. First they're witling our founds away by hunting the endangered we raise and intercepting our supplies."

One of the two other elders, one with a more muscular build, calls out in anger, "Yulvin, I knew-"

Yulvin holds his hand up, urging the other elder to stop.

He attempts to calm the elder saying, "It is best we make sure of this news ourselves, lest there be any mistakes." He turns back towards his daughter before prying, "Tuka, where have you obtained this information?"

"A passing by wight mentioned this to me. I did not catch his name, but I told him to come here to serve as evidence."

In dismay, Yulvin shakes his head.

"You listen to words of a stranger? You'd rather trust strangers than our sisters of the forest?"

"But father, wights are a noble race. One would not lie about this matter for no apparent reason. Do you not trust my senses?"

Yulvin takes a second to contemplate before responding, "Indeed, you can discern good from evil spirits. But there's the possibility that this wight is simply mistaken. We shall wait for his testimony. This matter has been decided."

Tuka nods her head, accepting her father's decision.

She silently leaves the room and the muscular elder follows.

The remaining elder calls to Yuvin, "That Adresin, are you not worried he'll take rash action?"

"He will not act in a way that will harm the clan."

The elder sighs, taking a drink, knowing there will be unrest in the forest.

What's in a name, anyway? You can always decide on one later. The substance is what's important. A startup is brought to life by its team members. So what you need to do now is find people who are right for the job.

You're the brains and wallet of the operation while Yao is, well you're not actually sure what you hired Yao for, but she'll be able to learn quickly and hunt down whales with sufficient practice. For hard labor, you can have your mom raise undead, offering you free labor, but there are still key pieces missing from this puzzle.

Hunting down the whale will be the most important part. If you can't [] a whale, everything else is worthless. With that being said, you're looking for a talented gunner, someone with an excellent eye and never misses a shot.

You go on Craigslist and various other sites for job searchers and leave your listing.

Searching for Skilled Gunner/Hunter

You'll be leading the hunt either for whales or Sky Whales. Having a tolerance for rapid navigation and turbulence is a most.

Required Skills
*Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
*Tracking down and hunting large prey, preferably experience hunting Sky Whales

To apply, you must
*Own a gun and have the proper permits
*Be a licensed hunter registered with the United Federation Hunter's Organization
*Not be a wanted criminal in any major country or territory

Pay on a commission basis. Price per head negotiable.

Over the span of a week you hear responses from a surprising amount of applicants. There are three that you think will be a good fit for the job: a monotone and straight to the point automata, a mysterious black haired wight with a blazing blue eye, a cheeky and arrogant human, not afraid to express her opinion.

You like the passion that the human has. She reminds you of a dashing cheetah. Quick to the chase, standing high above others. Despite her delicate form, you can tell she's a veteran at her trade. Mysteriously enough, she exudes an ambitious aura, maybe from her arrogance or the way she called you out on the ambiguity in your listing. Either way, her sharp wit will come in handy when navigating the skies.

You give her a call. It doesn't go through, but you leave a message in her voice mailbox and send her a text for good measure.

A couple of minutes later, she gives you a call back.

"Hahahaha, what took you so long? It's been almost a week. You're lucky I stuck around."

In the background, you can hear plenty of side conversations and a rock song being played.

"There were other applicants to get through. Plenty of people interested in the job."

"Peh, what a waste of time. There's no one better than me. Why'd you even need to do that? Just ask around. I'm the best. How about you head to the Hunter's Organization and we get this all sorted out?"

You head to the Hunter's Organization and from outside the door you can hear a song playing.

Upon entrance, you look around, hoping to spot Alisa. When you do see her, you're baffled. She's arguing with another hunter. He takes a swing at her, which she adeptly dodges. Before he can balance himself, Alisa grabs the guy and tosses him onto the ground, holding him in a choke.

It's a brawl between two hunters, not something you'd normally get involved. And who knows what this guy did to piss her off? If you got in the way, you'd likely end up with a black eye and an unhappy employee. Best to just watch it out.

The guy tries to tap out, as if he were in a sports match, but Alisa is relentless. She keeps him in the choke until he passes out. She finally releases him, but not for long. Alisa grabs the hunter by the scruff of his shirt and hauls him across the building, before tossing him out the door.

She notices you on her way back and wipes off her hands on her skirt.

In a matter of fact tone, she says, "Just taking out the trash."

You're curious though, so you have to ask, "So what'd he do to piss you off?"

She grits her teeth before replying with annoyance, "He asked me to take on a request with him. Imagine that. Me, needing others to help. Never even seen the guy around before, and he thinks I need his help. How stupid."

Welp, it seems you were right to not intervene. Reminder to self: Don't offer to help Alisa, ever.

The two of you get to business and sign a contract. You'll have to pay her $1500 per whale, minus damages, but you think it's worth it. She has experience on land, sea, and air. An extremely versatile hunter proficient in ranged and close combat. There really is no one better for the money.

You shake her hand and tell her you'll call her when she's needed. You can't be buying everyone dinner after all. You're tight on funds enough as it is. Making your way out of the building, you see the other hunter still unconscious, sprawled out on the cement.

Yup. Life as a hunter seems rough.

You treat it as though you never saw anything and head home. You think about recent events and how your life has changed ever since your sister made that request. It's an improvement. Definitely.

Oh, yeah. Yao's going to be off her two weeks soon. She's only got 2 days left after today. You may have to rethink your plans. Having her on the hunt with Alisa would be suicide. If you rescind your offer, that'd be awful for Yao, right?

Well, the two of you can talk about this sometime. Maybe this weekend. There's still some time left in the day.

You go to a patisserie and buy a box of assorted confectionaries. It'll be a nice change of pace to treat your family. You head home to spend the evening with your mom and sister.

Entering you shout, "I'm back. I've got some sweets too."

That should lure them out.

Your sister quickly makes her way over to you.

"Welcome home!" She says as she latches onto your arm.

Eyeing the box of sweets, she asks, "You look tired. Busy day?"

You wave the box around, and her eyes follow, like a cat chasing a laser. It makes you laugh. "An interesting one. The hunter I hired has a nasty temper, but she sounds great. Things should be going well really soon. How about you? Are you feeling cold today?"

Mischievously, she hugs you from behind, pressing her breasts against your back.

"Not if you have fruit tarts."

Gently, you push her away from you.

She frowns, saying, "Mmm, you're no fun, onii-chan."

You open the box and retort, "Now, you won't be getting any fruit tarts if you're like that."

"That's no fair." She puffs her chest in indignation. "Bully."

"Of course it's fair. I bought them. My rules. So where's mom?"

"Oh mom, trying out a new experiment. She said to not bother her. Something about modifying the attributes of ghouls?"

"Alright then, how about we leave her the madelines and a few crème puffs?"

The two of you divide up the sweets, and leave a message for your mom, telling her she can have the rest.

The next morning you wake up with a glaring headache. You try to massage your temples to see if that'll do it, but you're out of luck today. You go through the medicine cabinet and manage to find some ibuprofen, which you down with a glass of orange juice.

You're not in the mood to do hard work today.

Instead you
