I propose to my fellow gnolls a long term plan for our people.

The foundations
turn 1 = We build lumber mills so we can have access to a steady supply of wood.
turn 2 = We build a proper mining facility so we can have a large steady supply of copper and green metal. We might even discover new metal ores as our miners mine while we govern.
turn 3 = We build a smithy so we can make better tools for our miners.
turn 4 = We build a foundry so we can smelt and shape metal on a large scale. With this building we can mold metal into any shape that we want from metal casting.
turn 5 = We build a workshop for manufacturing more complex metal parts and components and also the research of new inventions.
turn 6 = We build a boiler facility for boiling salt water that we get from the coast into fresh water via distillation.

Tech branch A: Pseudo-Steampunk Gnolls
turn 7 = Using our foundry, workshop and boiler facility, we build the steam engine. We will install it in the boiler facility.
turn 8 = Since we will have a foundry, a workshop and a steam engine by this point, our Gnoll scientists, engineers and inventors will tinker about the worskshop until they discover electrcity. We will use heat energy and steam pressure as a power source.

Tech Branch B: Bathrooms and Sewage Systems
turn 7 = We build a network of pipes throughout our tunnels and connect it to our boiler facility so each Gnoll home will have access to clean water making us even more hygenic (due to proper bathrooms complete with showers, bathtubs and sinks).

Its pretty good.

Legions form up into testudo formation. First we position catapults to throw fire bombs into the bunkers on the surface. My legionaries at the back of the tested carry torches and wood and throw said wood and torches down the holes and we lit huge fires at the top and then tip all the coals and shit down the holes. Then when they come out because of the smoke and fire we slaughter them. If we have to move into the tunnels we move in 3 men rows with shields high. Moving in a shield wall formation.

If they try stop us at the surface or on the plains. We use tested formation which blocks all projectiles. Our tower shields are metal lined. We also have helmets.

All that I could think of that we can do right away is to make sinkhole traps around the city by digging underground making the surface unstable. Armored trolls and catapults are heavy so when they step on it they sink and become trapped and we make our move.

Other than that we make our escape by digging even deeper where the trolls can't follow us and collapsing the tunnel behind us. We then dig towards the nearest region where we can start again in secret.

But yeah I agree that our chances of survival are slim.

Ah okay, big siege ballista was what I had in mind, though thinking over it, siege engines don't seem to fit with the Snakins quick, cavalry heavy army too well.

okay so i made this map of trinston :)
1. this is the main castle thing, it is made out of stone and wood and the 4 leaders discuss things in it
2. this is the house of the water troll leader
the water trolls are seen separate from their original country and arn't seen as responsible for the war
the eye shaped houses are the longhouses and the square ones are the insulae
3. this is a small snakin pyramid and also the home of the snakin leader
4. this is a clay house of the leader of the radishes
the more square houses are shaped as the big tree houses
5. this is the entrance of the hole of the gnolls
the houses surrounding the entrances are built closely to each other so it feels like the tunnels
6. this is a market place
there are also some farms surrounding the city and around 500m west of the city is a militairy training school
