You are Subject 108, a.k.a. Whirlpool. You are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies from a reclusive civilization that has mastered spatial distortion. You tend to suffer occasional lapses in memory, emotion and judgement from shifting hormonal imbalances since birth. You have been sent to the feral planet known as Cymbio IV for a simple task: fetching water, but you are sidetracked by an adventure of your own making.

>Twitter: @guardtemp
>Notice: You can roll 1d6 to influence your current situation akin to Roll to Dodge. Use when necessary.
>Recap: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Whirlpool%20Quest
You return to the tribe you met earlier in the day and retrieve your PORTHOLE. Inside their settlement, you had a somewhat formal introduction with certain individuals and learn of their origins. They are apparently descendants of scientists who were exiled from their own laboratory complex by an unknown faction. You then attend a meeting by the tribe's leader about the group's next plan of action. After which you then test an unusued ability concerning your suit.

Pretty much so.

>>213098
Assuming that you might turn into a beefy mech, you tell Errai to walk with you outside. You stand still for a few moments, trying to actually get your suit to work. Suddenly SPATIAL DISTORTION or whatever technology you have kicks in and your suit transforms into something more armored. Errai is audibly impressed.

>"Gracious, that is some marvelous technology you have. You bear a faint resemblance to a squid though, a motif perhaps?"

You're pretty sure the mythological Kraken is an octopus and not a squid. Your three "fingers" are tendrils that can converge into a single, powerful drill. You're not sure if you look awesome or not but if you have a mirror you can admire your appearance or come up with revisions.

KRAKEN'S BEAK is taxing on the suit's power, this clearly isn't something to be used for extended periods of time. You turn back to normal and return your HARPOON back to your INVENTORY.

Using her statement as a tangent, you decide on simply giving her a compliment. You tell her that it isn't the technology that makes a person great, but the virtue and beauty of the person who bears it. It sounds cheesy but you're sure it will work on someone completely detached from pop culture.

It does.
>>
>>213543
Hmm, she needs more courtship at the moment. And perhaps some recreational beverages (if you know what I mean).
also the old thread needs a link to this one, it's easier that way
>>
>>213543
Hey baby, wanna check to see if we're physiologically compatible?

Wait, maybe genetically compatible might have been a better line.

How do people do romance?
>>
>>213563
Physiologically, and not in so many words, in about 200 extra words and without them noticing that they answered that question. More like 4 or 5 questions.
>>
>>213566
Psychologically goddammit!
>>
>>213566
Who's interested in psychology? Pssh.
Physiology is far more interesting. And entertaining.
>>
>>213553
Just, ask if there is a place where one might partake of alcoholic beverages in this village (not in so many words) and commence talking about her, and yourself when she wants to.
>>
>>213568
Sorry, but that's how romance works bro. You're the one who asked.
>>
>>213568
Also to note, that way leads to rape, and that really isn't optimal sexual intercourse. Things just feel better when she wants it bro.
>>
>>213577
>Suggest a forthcoming and honest portrayal of intent
>Your suggestion involves inebriation
>Mine is the rape one
Ok
Also, make less posts, god damn. Fill your shit into one concise post.
>>
Very intriguing discussion.

I need a third (or fourth) party for a consensus.
>>
>>213579
Sorry, I finish one post and see something else I want to reply to. Also, I said "leads to rape" meaning the disregard of the other members mental state. Also, inebriation wasn't meant to go very far, one or two drinks while we speak then escort the lady to her sleeping corters. At which point we ask the question. at a time when she is more likely to agree.
>>
>>213583
You're a tumblr, aren't you?
Absolutely nothing about it would lead to rape.
>>
>>213584
>who's interested in psychology
Read "I don't care what she thinks"
And my suggestion is the rape one.
>>
>>213586
At any rate, whether of not one of the suggestions is "rape" now is not the time to suggest sexual intercourse. (Sorry for the double post. Didn't think I should put in a finalizing statement then)

Nice bait. Now how about we come to an agreement about what our course of action should be.
>>
>>213577
Here I was referring to the line of thought. not the action you suggested, the action leads only to denial.
>>
>>213596
Fine, how about a leisurely stroll to her favorite places while talking. Exchange personal preferences and stories at roughly 1:1 ratio.
>>
>>213603
This sounds reasonable, perhaps a bite to eat, on the one with nearly inexhaustible income?
>>
>>213605
>income
We have no income, just more money on our person than we could possibly spend on this planet.
>>
>>213603

You consider treating her to a nice date, paying for all your expenses with the near-bottomless currency card in your possession. It's possible that Rigel hacked it or something but it doesn't concern you right now.

However you realize that this settlement might not accept the digital currency, or if they actually use currency at all. Not to mention that you're gonna have to go back to Resorcinol for your obligatory spending spree.
>>
>>213634
Just go around to her favorite places, the best date spots are free. Don't need anything fancy, just a scenic view.
Most of it will just be talking anyways.
>>
>>213640
In sight of the trouble with spending the money, this seems to be all we can do. Grr.

You approach Errai and ask for a tour of the place. You are a newcomer here plan and you want to get to know each other on a more personal level. Plus, she doesn't know much about you aside from saving her life, twice.

>"Alright, our first destination will be the observatory. Do you wish to begin the conversation?"

You have the option of asking her a question or sharing something about yourself. You can also pass and let her talk about herself first.

Interactive info-dump, ho!

Apologies for taking too long.

>>213746
As the two of you head towards the observatory, you tell her about your life before arriving to Cymbio IV. You skip the early bits since it's probably too mundane, even for her. Instead you start when you first joined the program.

It was definitely above your league, most people there are as smart as secret civilizations imply. You're not exactly dumb yourself but a lot of people overshadow you intellect-wise. You learned how to operate your suit at least and some basic combat lessons from your instructor. The real struggle is living with the weird society they have. Their culture revolves around having blades on their limbs since birth and users must maintain and utilize them throughout their life. Obviously, you didn't have these which pretty much meant that you have no identity. At least people with broken, dull or "rotting" blades had some individuality to them, like that "Mist" person. Meanwhile you are treated like another rank-and-file, generic entity and people don't seem to recognize you much. You're just "there". Your familiarity with pop culture and (strangely-enough) a fully-functional penis apparently wasn't enough of a distinct identifier.

Arguably, your greatest strength is the uncanny knack for working with what you have and salvaging the situation. It's how you managed to get this far despite outdated equipment and poor circumstances. Being treated like an invisible, nondescript pariah wasn't always a bad thing. You got away with messing with your equipment under their noses and enjoy some social independence but the lack of common social interaction made life lonely.

Still, you did manage to make some friends, or at least they're the closest thing for it. They are other subjects like you and they're probably assigned to the destinations you didn't pick.

First up was Subject-247, "Geyser". A combat prodigy with amazing reflexes and serrated blades. He views you as a "novelty teammate", which isn't always a bad thing but he tends to treat you like a liability which sometimes gets on your nerves.

Then there's Subject 595, "Tsunami". Don't be fooled by his size, he's actually the smartest of the bunch. He seems to be distant around you, probably because he was turned off by your "unique" physiology.

However the closest and most genuine friend you had is Subject 336—"Splash". She was the only one who seemed capable of looking past the bizarre trappings of their culture (and your dickfulness) and actually see you for the person you are. Being friends -before- all of this certainly helped. You wonder how she is faring right now.

>"Fascinating, yet strifeful as well. Were you lacking your own set of blades from poor circumstances or was it taken from you by force?"

Neither. You were never supposed to have such blades in the first place. That's because you're a foreigner. You were merely staying over at Splash's when the call went out.

>"My history is not as adventurous as yours. I was merely born, raised by my parents and received education as I grew up. Much like everyone else here, I too am a scientist but I'm not fond of theoretical discussions. I prefer more tangible field research and operations. That is the reason I was on an expedition outside, to learn about the world first-hand. Of course, you have seen how risky it is.

>"The others expect me to pick up where my mother will leave off, but that isn't my interest. Personal responsibility alone is burden enough, but having to lord over everyone else is a challenge I refuse to accept. It's good that our home isn't run with a monarchy, for I am not proficient at leadership."

She calls for your attention and opens a nearby door. Apparently, the two of you have already arrived at the observatory. You walk inside and see the still-functional equipment built out of scavenged parts.

>"Multiple risks were taken to procure the more delicate components and a lot of resources were spent in its construction. Rigel in particular had to make sacrifices for the lenses. I do not recall the previous studies the observatory was used for. Currently, we observe the twinkling stars which hold immense longevity and remind us of our continued survival. Rebuilding will be a difficult undertaking, but this installation is proof of our collective endurance."

You feel a bit calmer inside.

Sorry for the delay, and apologies in advance as I'll be out for a long while due to an out-of-town road trip.

Do we know the coordinates of our home solar system? Maybe we can spy on it. Or see if we can check on one of the assigned planets we didnt visit.

Errai looks a bit embarrassed at the idea.
>"Aheheheh, a disproportionate amount of attention is allocated to research and our survival. We...it's not something that passes through my consciousness often. I'm not very familiar with courtship."

>>215593
You ask her if she can aim the large telescope at Earth and look at what's going on its surface. She walks over towards the control panel to check.

>"Under normal circumstances, it requires the attention of multiple personnel and careful management to redirect the installation but that is unneeded for the moment. It is already set to view Earth anyway. Do note that enhancing magnification to penetrate the planet's atmosphere and examine surface happenings is impossible. According to my mother's grandmother, even the first generation's equipment is not capable of such a technical feat. I apologize if your request isn't completely fulfilled."

Perfectly okay with that. You peer through the viewfinder and see a pretty good, yet somewhat monochrome, image of Earth. You even see the silhouettes of one of the satellites orbiting it. By your estimate, either it's a really big satellite or it's escaping the orbit. You tell Errai that the planet has always been so beautiful, just like her.

>"You are aware that it doesn't take a scientist to recognize your infatuation. Still, your compliment is heartfelt and very appreciated."

Well, there's always sex.
It's night, there's nothin else to do, and if tomorrow has everything ever go wrong then we probably won't get another chance.

Yeah, fuck it, make the move. Our max mobility will be worthless if we can't even use it to catch someone's heart
