You dodge out of the way of one incoming Holy Energy ball, it zooms past you. You block the other with your Parrying Dagger of Urniseus' Judgement and Celestial Blade. The Energy surrounding the dagger slowly sucks in the Ball of Holy Energy, creating a bigger energy blade.

"Impressive... Your enchanted items are as interesting as always.

However, we're not done yet. Let's see how you deal with this kind of attack!"

Elenna is charging up for a Holy beam attack.

You summon your Phantom Knight to aid you. Together, you slash the Energy beam in two, repelling it successfully! Elenna looks impressed.

"Amazing..."

"Very well, that should be enough training. Let us go back to Sainteper to get some rest. You've earned it."

You both walk back to your current residence in Sainteper.

>>242711
"....Just so you know, that wasn't my full power, it's just this body you see, you definitely wouldn't be able to repel my attack if I'm at full strength. Definitely."

You gave Elenna a reassuring pet.

..........

You've arrived at Sainteper.

"Alright Lilian, I will go back to our room first, you can go to the bazaar and buy some supplies if you want to. Don't come home too late, we need all the rest we need. Remember, tomorrow the public pilgrimage carts depart for the High Order Castle, and we mustn't be late for it."

You can go to the bazaar and buy some supplies that you might want, the bazaars sells many things from exotic foods, medicines, weird artifacts, even peculiar foreign children's toys. ......though some might just be rip-offs. Or you can go back home with Elenna right away and get some rest.

What do you do?

You decide to look around the bazaar for something useful.

After browsing around the bazaar, you've set your eyes upon a list of interesting items.

- A Jeweled Ring said to have been worn by a great wizard.
- An engraved ring said to be carved out of demon bone.
- A Dragon tooth necklace, said to be great at conducting magic.
- A necklace of an old Priestess, a memento of a Battle Priestess who passed away in battle.
- Elven Bread, bread said to come from the eastern lands, one bite is said to be enough to sate the hunger of a grown man, and it can keep freshness for months. Will restore your energy greatly!
- Eastern children's toy, a toy that looks to be a small wooden hammer with a ball tied to the end. An Eastern Elf childrens' favorite toy.
- Medicine and Bandages, basic first aid for battles.
- A Turban of Western origin. The desert warriors of the southern kingdom wear these with pride.
- An engraved dagger, the waving pattern is designed to cause severe laceration. It comes from a kingdom far to the south.
- Matchsticks, useful to start a fire.
- A Mysterious Cloak, woven from the finest threads, it's said to be worn by an ancient Eastern Priest who fights Demons.

There is a chance that some of these items may not be as advertised, can't trust the bazaars too much, but at least they have cheap prices. You can probably buy three of these items.

What do you do?

(One poster may pick only one item each, or vote for something someone else has already picked, Lilian will buy the 3 items with the most vote. If there is a vote tie I will pick randomly between them.)
>>
>>243129
Mysterious Cloak. Can't go wrong with a cloak.
>>
>>243129
Dragon tooth necklace could be useful, they are mythical beasts well versed in magic after all.
>>
>>243129
Old priestess necklace
>>
I'm voting for the toy
>>
>>243129
As much as I like enchanted items, the Medicine and Bandages will definitely be useful.
>>
>>243129
Actually, I might've kinda fucked up the mechanics here, sorry. We won't get anywhere with this amount of votes, so I guess I will change it a bit.

How about each poster can pick 3 items, so it will increase the vote tally a bit.
>>

>>

The Mysterious Cloak looks to be the real deal, you bought it and start to enchant it, gathering the Energy in the atmosphere and concentrating it into the cloak just as Elenna taught you. The Cloak's special fabric absorbs the Energy and starts to glow softly.

A d6 will decide if the Enchantment manifests successfully or not. 1-2 means no enchantment and 3-6 means there is an enchantment.

The Dragon-Tooth Necklace looks impressive, so you bought that too. As you start to gather energy into it, you hear a crack. Then, the Tooth, shatters into pieces as it couldn't take the high amount of energy you poured into it. It was a dud! You've been ripped off by the merchant! It seems to be normal Wolf Duck tooth!

You're torn whether you should buy the Toy or the Medicine and Bandages, but you decide to buy the Toy instead. Surprisingly, the Eastern Children's Toy absorbs the energy you pour into it even better than the Cloak. It seems to be made of some sort of sacred wood. The Toy glows incredibly brightly and you feel power welling inside it bursting out.

With a d4 the following Enchantments may be picked for the Toy:
1: Enchantment of Mischief; The Ball of the toy may wander around out of control and trip people up randomly.
2: Enchantment of Entanglement; The Ball will track enemies and tangle the string around them.
3: Enchantment of Thunderous Clap; The Hammer summons Thunders with each swing, turning it into more than just a toy.
4: Enchantment of Sun's Fury; The Ball of the toy can turn into a a sphere of raging inferno, smiting opponents with it's swings.

The first person who rolls a d4 will determine the Toy's Enchantment, and the d6s will be averaged to decide if the Cloak will have one or not.

I don't know if you can roll two different die at once or not, but if you can do 1d6 and 1d4 at once then it'll still be the first d4 who'll be picked so it shouldn't change much.

For fun, here are how each items will turn out if you did buy it:

- Jeweled Ring: A dud, just a normal ring
- Engraved Ring: True Demon Bone, but that doesn't help much with enchanting. ~Low chance of enchantment.
- Priestess Necklace: Genuine, ~average chance of enchantment.
- Elven Bread: This is literally a LotR Lembas Bread, would've been able to restore your energy and enchantment after eating it. Since "resting" counts having a full meal as mentioned in previous thread.
- Medicine and Bandages: Normal, works fine.
- Turban: Normal cloth. ~Low chance of enchantment.
- Engraved Dagger: A dagger used in rituals, the real deal. ~High chance of enchantment.
- Matchsticks: Normal, works fine.

Cloak is getting an enchantment. We'll decide with an average of d6, rounded mathematically.
1: Enchantment of Slowness; the wearer will move slightly more sluggish. The cloth will also be damp. Yuck.
2: Enchantment of Calming; the wearer will have a cool head no matter the situation. No other apparent benefit though.
3: Enchantment of Healthiness; the wearer will never get sick/poisoned. Gives a boost to stamina as well.
4: Enchantment of Victory Fanfare; Allies will gain a morale boost, raising their abilities in battle
5: Enchantment of Physical Potency; the wearer gains a massive boost to their physical capabilites. Stronger, Faster, Harder body.
6: Enchantment of Divine Protection; the wearer is protected from damage to an incredibly high degree. Greatly reduces damage, especially from energy based attacks.

Average: 3.2 -> 3
The enchantment on your Mysterious Cloak settled, and it manifests into a Cloak of Healthiness. You put it on and feel a surge of invigorating energy. You feel like you can run for miles without tiring. The mild stomachache you felt earlier is also completely gone now.

As you walk away from the bazaar areas, you saw a notice board. On it, you saw.....a wanted poster with your face on it! You've expected this, the Church have probably realized how Elenna and her two angels are missing and sent out a search warrant. They probably would never guess that you are right under the their nose all these time. Regardless, you shouldn't stay long, good thing you are leaving the city tomorrow to fulfill your promise with Elenna.

You have finished shopping, now you can either go back to the Inn you are staying in with Elenna, or go the Bar next to the inn for some drinks and gossip. There's also a Restaurant near the inn that's supposed to serve delicious food. Across the inn there's also a Bath House, a bath sounds super relaxing after all that training you did. Then again, Elenna did tell you to not come back too late and get some rest.

What do you do?

You go to your room at the inn and ask Elenna to join you for a bath. Despite Elenna's protest, you drag her to the bath house with you. When the both of you slip into the warm bath however, Elenna stopped complaining and she seems to actually start enjoying it.

The bath is actually designed to ease the fatigue of the Priestess and Paladin trainees, and it gives a small boost to magical capabilities. Your enchantments grow somewhat stronger!

After the bath you go back to your room and rest for the night. The good night sleep completely energizes you, your Enchantments are recharged!

- Northern Wind; Mediocre damage, immobilizes enemies, 5 charges.
- Phantom Knight; Strong and resilient ghostly knight, summoned once per rest until death.

.........

You wake up to Elenna screaming at you from the next room. It seems you've woken up a little late.

There's still some time until you arrive at the halfway point.

You asked Elenna to pass you the newspaper. It might help pass the time to read the news.

The news mentioned that a Bishop and the Royal Alchemist has passed away. Besides that, it seems the Church and the Kingdom's Army is pushing their recruitment even further. Seems that the age of peace is coming to an end. Times of troubles are ahead.

You decide to eat the bread that they give for free to pilgrims. It's a little stale, but better than nothing. It fills you up decently.

The cart has come to a stop, you jump out of the ride. You have reached The Halfway Point. From here, the soldiers have closed the road ahead due to danger of Demons closer to the High Order Ruins. This is as far as the general pilgrims can go. people are praying and leaving flowers near the blockades as a sign of respect for the departed.

If you want to go further, you will need to either convince the guards to let you through, or sneak past them.

What do you do?

After thinking about it for a while, he lets you pass. You and Elenna continues on your mission. The road is desolate, the air is heavy and grim. No doubt, you are getting closer to an ominous place.

After walking for some time, you notice two shadows on the road ahead. Demons! You and Elenna let out a surprised gasp, and the Demons noticed your presence. They let out an angry roar and take up an offensive stance. You two follow suit.

You entangle one of the Demon with your Toy, while Elenna charges up a spell. She unleashes a great ball of Holy Energy, but all it does is blind the Demons without any actual damage.

"Nghh..Curses..! This sorry form of mine..!"

Seeing the opportunity however, you charge in and slash the Demon that is tangled up by your toy. Your lightsaber does some serious damage to one side of its head. It shrieks with anger, then takes off into the air. With your toy still tangled up on its body, it lifts you along with it. You dangle dangerously in the air.

Meanwhile, the other Demon lunges its tail at Elenna, and swipes her off without giving her a chance to react. It pulls Elenna close and coils around her.

"Aaaahhh....! Filthy...Demon....!"

Roll for random effect on the demon?
>>
>>245397
Sure, I forgot to touch on the Dagger charge mechanic for this thread. Since you have only 3 charges, and there may not be a chance to rest in between fights, you're allowed to preserve the effect for when you want it to trigger.

If you want to do a slash that triggers the random effect, do a d100 along with your initial command.
>>
Rolled 55 (1d100)

Oh? Mind if I roll for it, due to the fact the rule wasn't clarified yet? I assumed it always did it, as it did last thread, so I didn't mention triggering it. Rolling just incase you say yes. If you say now, I say we climb the toy's rope and stab it once more with the sword before doing what I suggest next.

What to do next:
Jump away from the flying demon and drop down onto the snake, using your sword to slash it's tail off (so it will stop constricting our friend). No use of random effect on this hit.

Roll average: 56; nothing that interesting happens.

The Demon's wound suddenly starts to bleed a little more heavily, even though it was already starting to stop earlier. Besides that however, nothing much happened to it.

You let go of your toy and drop down onto the Demon currently coiling around Elenna. With an awesome jump attack you slide its tail off. Elenna struggles free of the now lifeless tail.

"Thank you Lilian, much appreciated. Be wary, these Demons are tougher than they look."

With a dying gasp, the Demon turns to ash. The other Demon have also been reduced to nothing but a skeletal remain. Huge wave of Holy Energy fills the air. Slowly, they swirl into your enchanted items, amplifying their powers.

Enchanted Cuffs:
- Northern Wind: Now deals considerable damage, freezes a bigger area. [4/5 charges]
- Phantom Knight: Grows even stronger and more durable. [1/1 life]

Enchanted Parrying Dagger:

- Celestial Blade: Stronger energy blade.

Enchanted Mantle:

Enchanted Toy:

Average: 90 Great rolls here, good enchantment choices abound.

An averaged d20 will decide the Enchantment that shows up:
1-5: Enchantment of Thunderous Clap; The Hammer calls down Lightning with each swing.
6-10: Enchantment of Sun's Fury; The ball of the toy turns into a sphere of raging inferno which reduces enemies to ashes.
11-15: Enchantment of Torrential Rage; The toy can shoot out beams of water. Every swing rides on the force of a raging sea.
16-20: Enchantment of Earthen Pillar; The toy can turn into a two handed Battle Hammer, with the strength of the Earth itself riding behind every swing.

Good luck!

You set up camp to rest for a while. The starless dark sky looms above your small campfire. You keep watch while Elenna takes a small rest.

...........

Suddenly the whole ground shook. The very earth shudders in an ominous rhythm.

THUMP.

THUMP.

A huge claw climbs out of the cliffside. A cracked skull of a demon pokes out next to it.

As the figure comes to view, you feel goosebumps running up the back of your neck. The atmosphere is filled with dread.

An enormous Demon the shape of a Dragon climbs up from the cliffside. Tongue sticking out, it eyes the both of you with a blank expression.

"This presence...no...!"

It roars.

From the wound of the dagger, the Demon's arm starts to rot. The Goddess of Luck have decided to decay the Demon's flesh. The Demon writhes in pain, then it decides to bite its own arm clean off. The bite's strength was so overwhelming it crushes the Parrying Dagger into tiny pieces. The pieces rains down into the chasm.

The Demon is overwhelmed with rage, it decided to dive right at you, but you cast Northern Wind on one of its wings as it dives towards you. The wing froze up and the Demon tumbles past you and crashes into the ground. It roars with fury.

You tell Elenna to run away while you hold back the Demon. The Demon charges at you with mouth wide open. You use a Northern Wind right on its charging head. While the Demon is taken off guard by the ice, you hit it with your Hammer, propelled by the force of the water torrent.

The hit staggered the Demon, it might have given it a mild concussion. The wound is also bleeding and sizzling from the Holy Water. The Demon turns even angrier, and it whips its thick tail at you. The hit took all the air out of your lungs. You're sent flying into the rocks. The Demon prepares to finish you off for good.

..........

A crackle of lightning shoots out and hits the Demon's left arm. It shatters into pieces of frozen Demon flesh. The Demon roars with anguish.

"Enough Marcus! I will not let you hurt my friend anymore. I see now that you are beyond saving....so I will take it upon myself to end your suffering."

Elenna stands tall between you and the Demon. Teardrops dripping down from her eyes.

You blast the incoming tail with a Northern Wind to slow it down, then you jump onto it and starts climbing. The Demon wails in pain.

Elenna finished charging her spell, she unleashes a great beam of light. The beam pierces the Demon, wiping the flesh in the way completely. The Demon can do naught but roar. You unleash a final beam of water to finish off the wounded Demon.

With the last of it's energy, the Demon unleashes a dying roar. The roar was so powerful it blasts everything in the vicinity away. You try to hold your ground against the shockwave, but it is no use. You got thrown off by the intense pressure. Your body flew backwards, and your head landed on the rocks behind you.

You lost consciousness.

Yeah, thanks for joining. I'm super tired.

This was pretty fun to do. Lilian was never meant to be an Enchantress, but the idea was interesting when someone mentioned to check for an enchantment on the cuffs, and it became a pretty unique thing to her. And I had fun drawing her silly face. But I think she's had her spotlight for now. I want to try out other characters.

They all end up pretty differently if I do say so myself.
Aria: Missing. Background unknown. (not much planning went into this)
Luce: Turned into a Demon to set up what >>252679 figured out, but he definitely got a clear outcome and is still "alive". Humble background of a farmer's boy.
Theo: Alive, clearly survived WITH his companion. Unknown background
Lilian:I've always meant for her to survive to set up a powerful future character, although the road there is full of improvisation. Humble background.

idk how you think they all end up similar but I'm really curious how it'd look that way. I try to keep things varied so if it somehow turned out to read similar I'm curious how that could happen. We already have a couple characters that are pretty different than usual ready for future quests, but we'll see how those can turn out.

Here's some trivia things for the hell of it:

- Theo was meant to deal with Luce, me and Priestess OP planned to do a "I clean up your mess, you clean up mine". Yet he somehow messed up the direction of things, and I couldn't get a correct chance to do my job so I had to split it into two quests.
- Elenna was never meant to be a companion, I thought she'd just be abandoned/killed during the first battle, she didn't even have a name at first. Yet she turned out to be a really fun character to do.
- I actually already tinkered with a Demon Lilian sketch which I will include in this post, but I figured that it's not usable for a variety of reasons. Mainly because I want the art direction of Demons to look very beast-like, and also I don't want another Demonized protagonist. Though when the body enchantment suggestion came up and I thought it was super interesting, it won't be without consequences and I figured I might as well use a part of the sketch I already made.

Yeah, if you want to get notified for future quests go to the twitter. I might post Demonity sketches there too, and of course any extras will go there.
