"He's you?" The blonde girl says.
"I don't think that's what he meant..." The guy in black says.

"No, I'm not him" You say. "I'm Yuu"
The blonde girl looks shocked. "M-me?!? B-but you can't be me, I'm me!" She says.
"Yes. And I'm Yuu" You say.

The blonde girl looks nervous, and her eyes dart around like she's going to have a panic attack. Then she suddenly calms down and goes completely quiet.

...

"Is she okay?" You ask.
"She'll be fine" Madelaine says dismissively, as she turns to the armored man who she said was Storm. "Which is more than I can say for you, if you don't give me a very good reason for being here"
"I only want to talk..." Storm says.

"We have talked" Madelaine says. "The answer is still no"
"You haven't heard the question" Storm says.
"It's been the same one every time" Madelaine says.
"It might be different this time" Storm says.
"Is it?" Madelaine asks.

Storm looks guilty, but says nothing.

"Should I tell Derrick he has competition?" You ask.
"No" Madelaine says quickly and flatly.
"Kay" You say. "So what's the question?"

"He wants to know if I want to join his order" Madelaine says. "The answer is still no"
"His order?" You ask.
"The order of the Trinity" Meyu says, pointing at the chain around his neck. "The 3 stars is their mark"

"What do they do?" You ask.
"We uphold the laws of our God" Storm says.
"In other words, they're the Inquisition" Madelaine says.

"You say that like it's bad" The man in black says. "The sinners go to Mortifas, and only the pure emerge"

"It is bad" You say.
"And I suppose you're an expert then?" The man in black says.

"I-" You say, before Meyu puts a hand on your shoulder. You turn back, and see him shaking his head.

"If that's all you guys came for, then we'll be leaving" Meyu says. "This cave was a bust anyway"

"Are you sure she's okay?" You ask, pointing to the oddly quiet girl in white.
"Mikaela!" The man in black shouts.

Mikaela squeaks, and seems to come back to her senses. "Sorry! I think I zoned out there" She says as she looks around. Eventually her eyes fall on you, and she gives you a strange look before whispering something to Storm.

"Are you sure?" He asks.
She nods.

Storm draws his sword.

"There's a demon here?!?" You ask, as you put your hand on your mageblade.

"There is" Storm says.

"Like what?" Storm asks.
"Like throwing innocent people into their graves" You say.

"You mean Mortifas?" The man in black says. "because if that's the case, then they wouldn't be there if they were innocent"

"I disagree" You say.

Meyu steps forward. "You sure this is wise? 5 of us against 3 of you?" He asks.
"It's almost a fair fight" Storm says.

Meyu takes another step forward. You've never really noticed how imposing he is... "I can smell the green on you three" He says. "You ever had to spill any with that thing?"

Storm takes a step back.

"Didn't think so" Meyu says. "Now, you're in between me and my ride. Move."

Storm's eyes narrow, and he stands firm, sets his feet, and takes up his stance.

"Consorting with demons is a crime" Storm says. "You're all under arrest"

Part of you wishes you'd brought that Inquisitor's hat with you... you want to try something with it. Something that could either work, or fail miserably.

Either way, you aren't about to go quietly. So you pull the mageblade off of it's belt, but Gerard puts a hand on your arm.

"Hang back for this one, kid" He says. "I think we'd rather not let them know about uhh... you-know-what"
"I know what?" You ask.
Gerard sighs. "Just... hang back" He says.

Gerard steps up, leaving you wondering what he meant... until it hits you.

Your mageblade is red. That isn't normal. Your ability to control soul is the reason why Altea has based her plan around you, and for the moment they don't know about it...

Question: The inquisition has been going around rounding up demons and people who they presume to be bad in order to impose a ton of order. However, Yuu, as a pure demon, had no issue at all surviving the Chaos Engine. Do normal demons not get that boosted resistance to Soul? It seems like the inquisition's go to tactic for "Nuke the demons in the prison by overcharging them" should've really failed before this point.

You clip the mageblade back onto the its peg. So what if you can't use your mageblade? It isn't the only thing you've got.

You set your feet and crack your knuckles, and you wait.

The fight almost doesn't seem like it's going to start, as no one wants to make the first move. Storm seems to be the only one with his weapon drawn, but Meyu and Gerard both look ready.

Meyu has a hand on the big, heavy looking sword in a sheath on his back. It's probably the biggest sword you've ever seen, and that includes everything that was in Sherton's armory.

Meanwhile, Gerard has his hands poised above a pair of thick metal gauntlets at his waist.

...

Maybe you should have brought the spear, too. You wouldn't even have to use it, you'd just have to keep hold of it and let it flail about. That'd probably freak them out enough to make them back off.

But you don't have it, or the hat, so you'll make do.

"Well one of us is going to have to do something" Madelaine says, clearly getting impatient.

Meyu smirks, and lifts his left arm. He points his palm at storm, and you hear a loud pop. You're not really sure what happened, but Storm is off his feet, and Meyu is advancing.

You guess that counts as something.

Storm manages to land on his feet, and he immediately charges back in. Meyu's got his sword out, and he meets Storms with his own. Given the size of Meyu's blade, it's a clash that Storm can't even hope to win.

And he doesn't. As the swords strike each other, Meyu's glows orange and you hear another loud POP as the sword explodes and sends Storm's sword flying.

Alright, that's pretty cool. You wonder if you could learn to do that.

Turning to Gerard's fight against the guy in black, you see him holding both of the other guy's axes. He then slams his forehead straight into the guy in black's, and he falls over.

Well, that was over quick. Maybe Madelaine could use some help.

Madelaine's got Mikaela pinned to the ground with her arm behind her back. It doesn't look like she even pulled out her sword.

"So what now?" You ask.
"Now we get in our cart, and we leave" Meyu says. "no sense in killing these kids ourselves. If they keep acting like they are now, somebody will do it for us"

You prepare yourself for the worst as the booming footsteps grow closer.

The ground around you begins to shift, you turn to see Zaine's hands glowing. He must be doing something...

As... whatever it is break the treeline, you brace yourself.

It's big. Very big.

The hulking creature clumsily crashes through the treeline, and the first thing you notice are the numerous, nasty looking scabs all over it. The second thing you notice is the collection of blades sticking out of its back, with the Hell's Legion banner hanging off.

The third thing you notice is that it's coming straight for you.

Maybe bracing yourself wasn't the best plan...

It rams into you, knocking the wind out of your chest, and then it bucks you into the air and over it...

As it approaches, you look for a good place to put your blade. Its skin looks pretty tough, but there's an open wound on its forehead that looks just right.

When it gets close enough, you leap forward and slam your blade as far into its head as you can.

Its momentum keeps it moving after you've hit it, but its legs stop running. You end up lifting yourself off the ground using the sword so you don't get dragged under.

When the beast comes to a full stop, you hop off and take a breath.

That could have gone better, but it also could have gone much worse. You think you like things this way. Though your arm is a bit numb from the impact.

"Has anyone ever told you that youre insane?" Meyu asks, as he runs over to you.
"No" You say. "Why?"
He chuckles. "Because you knocked a few years off my life there" He says. "I was worried that I'd have to let the commander know that you died out here. That wouldn't have been a pleasant conversation"

You shrug. "I had that handled"
"It sure looked that way when you got bucked up into the air" Meyu says.

"While it was alive?" You ask. "Ouch"
"Yeah..." Meyu says. "But who the hell would do that?"

You point up to the weapons stuck in its back. "Banner" You say.
Meyu looks up, and his eyes widen in recognition. "Good catch" He says. "You spot that while you were up there?"
"I saw it when it was charging" You say. "I fought a Dertaxore outside of Sherton that was the same way"
"What the hell is a Dertaxore?" Meyu asks.

"Lobster claws, lots of legs, tail with a ton of stingers" You say.
"Oh! A Carracore" Meyu says.

"Kid says that the legion sent it" Meyu says. "You can see the banner up top"

"The Legion?" Storm asks.
"Yep" Gerard says. "They are here in Lubars"

"This isn't the first time they've done this either" You say. "And now that I think about it, we ran into that other monster near Sherton... and that night, they attacked"

"You think they might attack again?" Meyu asks.
You shrug.

"Well, it's worth giving out a warning for" Zaine says. "You three should go back to Bell's Run and let them know. We'll go to Locke"
"We're letting them go?" Madelaine asks.
"My dear, sometimes the safety of the people is more important than any grudge" Meyu says. "The people in Bell's Run may not be the nicest, but they deserve a fighting chance"

Storm stands up, and gives a slight bow. "Thank you" He says.
"Just don't make me have to kill you, alright kid?" Meyu asks.

"What the hell happened!?" A male voice calls. "This thing was supposed to crush us a swath all the way to Locke! Not tromp around randomly and then drop dead"

It's quiet for a minute, and you hear footsteps. Lots of footsteps.

You wrack your brain trying to place that voice. You've definitely heard it before...

You quickly whip your cloak off and throw it at him, both to get it out of the way and to get it in his way so you can draw your mageblade.

Carthac swipes the cloak away with his spear, not even slowing down in the process.

Before you can even get a hand on your mageblade, he's on you. You just barely manage to sidestep his charge, and you don't even come close to dodging his followup sideswipe.

The shaft of his spear smacks right into your temple, knocking you to the ground.

You try to get up, but a boot planted firmly into your back stops that.

"I underestimated you last time, because I thought you merely a boy" Carthac says.

Rolled 85 (1d100)

You feel his spear press into your back, through the spot where your heart would be.

You grit your teeth and move your hand down to your mageblade.

"As I thought" He says. "Heartclaimer never took your heart. Because you don't have one"
"It's a handy trait. I can see why you guys like it so much" You say.

"Ooooooh?" The devil asks. "He's one of us then? You sure we can't keep him?"

Carthac glares at the devil, and she backs off. Then he twists the spear, making you bite back a scream.

"This will not be slow" He says.
"Counting on that" You say.

He looks confused, until he sees what's in your hand. He takes his foot off your back to try and stomp your wrist, but you've already activated the mageblade.

And his foot comes down right on top of it, getting skewered in the process.

Carthac jumps back, and you push yourself to your feet as quickly as you can. Then you reach back and pull the spear out of your back.

"Wow, you just hand these out don't you?" You ask.

Carthac doesn't look happy.

>>

>>
You feel the blood in your body flowing through your veins, unhindered by the new hole in your chest. It makes you feel strangely calm.

Carthac begins his assault anew, rushing towards you with the same speed that caught you off guard before. Funny... it doesn't seem quite so threatening this time.

You turn the spear in your hand, and throw it at him as hard as you can. Whether he dodges it or catches it, it will slow him down, buying you the sliver of extra time that you need.

When the spear is flying, you focus on your blade. The first time you faced Carthac it couldn't even break the skin. That can't be the case this time. You harden it and tighten up the edge, just managing to get it ready by the time Carthac reaches you.

He did catch the spear, as that's what he attacks you with. He starts with a quick pair of stabs, high and low, so that's how you parry.

When he steps back and tries to sweep you again, you move into the gap and force him further back.

He doesn't seem too happy about that, but at this range there isn't much he can do. All he can manage to do is guard with the spear's shaft, with no way to bring the head to bear.

You see an opening for a good hit and you take it, stabbing Carthac right in the gut. He grunts in pain, and hops back again.

But when you try to close in once more a sense of danger comes over you and you stop, just as a pillar of flame erupts between you and Carthac. Then the Lupid steps into the gap, snarling at you.

"My, my, this one's sharp" The Devil says. "Are you sure we can't keep him?"

Carthac checks his gut, and his hand comes away bloody.
"Kill them all" The Lupid says.

All...

You turn to the cart and see everyone else is fighting too. The plants that covered the cart are only about half gone...

Rolled 75 (1d100)

You can't let the devil finish whatever she's preparing, but you know that turning your back on these two will not end well. The moment you divert your attention, the Lupid will be on you. You'll have to fight her off, and the devil will finish her spell.

...

But you could use that to your advantage.

You step back, and start to turn towards the devil. As expected the Lupid pounces, with her arms out and her teeth bared.

You get one hand on her wrist, and the other on her stomach, and using her momentum you throw her at the devil.

She flies through the air, and lands right on the devil. This has the effect of breaking the devil's focus, making her lose the energy she had charged up.

Then you turn back just in time to parry a thrust from Carthac, locking weapons with him as he steps in.

"You make it hard to believe that anyone could lose to Hell's Legion" You say.
"You seem to love talking" He says.

The feeling of calm that you felt before wears away, and you start t feel less sure of yourself.

Then Carthac's hand finds your throat.

"I think I'll shut you up" He says. "Permanently."

"Igrhhmsfkpthhh" You try to say.
"What was that?" He asks, loosening his grip on your throat.
"I said, I never said you could keep that" You say.

You grab his spear with one hand, and hook your elbow over his choking-arm. Then you pick up your legs and kick off of his face.

When you hit the ground you roll and end up back on your feet, spear in one hand, mageblade in the other.

"It's a part of my collection now" You say.

Carthac holds a hand over his bloodied mouth, and glares at you. Then he charges, letting out a bellow as he rushes you.

You sidestep and slice his thigh as he passes. "And you complain that I make too much noise" You say. "At least I say things"

He throws a punch at you, which you sidestep again.
"Too slow" You say. "but you're welcome to try it again"
He punches again, and misses again.

"Wow, I didn't think you'd actually do it" You say. "It's not like I said it'd work"
"SHUT. UP"
"No"

Come to think of it, the devil and the lupid should be up by now. Maybe you should duck.

A fireball roars over your head, slamming right into Carthac.
Ducking was definitely the right move.

"Woops" The devil says. "Sorry"
"I forgive you" You say.
"I wasn't talking to you..." She says, shaking her head.

You stand back up and look around. This situation doesn't really favour you.

The three demons have you surrounded, and you don't think you can keep this up much longer.

"Would you guys be willing to fight me one at a time?" You ask.
"Kill him" Carthac says.
"You know, that's gotta be the fourth time you've said that" You say.
"And?" He asks.
"Do I look dead?" You ask

Carthac walks forward. "Oh, I am going to enjoy this" He says.

You tighten your grip on the mageblade, and quickly check to make sure it hasn't lost any of its form.

Carthac picks up speed, and you can hear the lupid approaching as well...

You search for a way to make this more favourable. Of all the things you could do, which one would work?

You hear a distant crack, and what sounds like the tinkling of chain getting closer.

"What is that?" You ask, as you look around.
"Shit" The lupid says.

Carthac looks up, which you find strange. What could possibly be up there?

You turn your head upwards and see some sort of flying... thing. Whatever it is, you can see chains flying down towards the ground.

"Hunters" Carthac says. "Retreat"
"But-" The devil says.
"Retreat" Carthac says, as he turns to leave. "Retreat!"

"Whoa, whoa" You say. "Who said you could leave?"

You chase after Carthac, until he turns and holds out a hand. His hand turns black, and the shadows on the ground seem to shift. Then they turn, and as spikes they lash out at you.

You tumble back, only narrowly avoiding the strange tendrils before tripping on something and falling on your ass.

"Rejoice, for you have been saved" Carthac says. "do not test your fate by following me"

The tendrils dissipate, and the area around you slowly becomes shrouded in black fog.

In the darkness, something lifts you to your feet.

"We'll play again later, okay cutie?" The devil says.

You search around for her, but find nothing. You only hear her giggling getting further away.

Then the chains strike the ground around you. The impacts blow away the fog around you, but it still keeps you from seeing further out.

Attached each of the chains is some sort of anchor, and you can see people riding them down...

"Holy hell, he's alive" Meyu says.

"Yuu!" Madelaine says, as she rushes over to you. "Are you hurt?"
"Not really" You say.
"Are you sure?" Zaine asks. "I could help you out"

Zaine is currently healing Gerard's neck, where it looks like something hit him.

"Again?" Storm asks.
"I got his spear last time too. I'm thinking of starting a collection" You say. "Which, by the way, I told you so"
"What?" Madelaine asks.

"I told you I fought him last time, and you didn't believe me" You say. "Do you believe me this time?"
Madelaine sighs. "Yeah... I do" She says.

Meyu chuckles, and grunts as he stands up. "Those hunters should be comin' down soon" He says. "We should go say hi, and thank 'em for savin' our asses"

>[1/2]

"It takes that long to get down from there?" You ask.
"That airship is big" Meyu says. "And it's a lot higher up than it looks from down here"

"Huh" You say. "That's what that is"
"Never seen an airship before?" Meyu asks.

You shake your head.

"We should take you by Locke's airship docks" Meyu says. "There are always a few there, though most of 'em have been grounded of late"
"Why?" You ask.
"War" Meyu says. "Even this one looks like it took a few shots..."
"Who shot at it?" You ask.
"Probably the guard in Leon" Meyu says. "Pretty sure that's where this one was docked"

"Huh" You say. "Why?"
"If the hunters are leaving Leon, then that means that they're probably abandoning Lubars" Meyu says. "Either that, or they're heading to Locke... but nevermind that, here they come"

The first of the hunters reaches the ground and hops off, before disconnecting a little mechanical thing that held onto the chain.

"Good evening" Meyu says.

The hunter waves, and steps over to you. He's a lean, tall man whose face you can't see underneath his helmet. "We saw the fires and the monster from up above, and figured we'd offer our assistance" He says. "What happened down here?"

"-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-"

"YUU!"

"HHHHHHHHhhhh?"

"You can stop screaming now, we're on the airship" Lance says.
You open your eyes and look around. "Oh... I knew that" You say.

The people up here seem to be ignoring you. You guess screaming must be a normal occurrence on these things...

"Sit tight, I'll grab someone to take a look at your back" Lance says.
"Kay" You say, as you sit down against the railing.

"Oh, and uhh... don't look down" Lance says, before walking off.

You reach up and grab the railing, then you pull yourself up to look over.

Wow. That is... a long way down. You don't think you could survive it if you fell from up here... and the fall itself would be absolutely terrifying

...

You think that you're just going to curl up into a ball now. Not because you're afraid, no. But because you just think that the fetal position sounds like a good position to be in right now.

A short while passes, and you spot Lance coming back with a guy that you don't recognize

"Hey, Yuu. I found-..." He stops, when he sees the position you're in, and crouches beside you. "You looked over the edge, didn't you?"
"Maybe" You say.

"First timer?" The guy asks
"Yep" Lance says.
The guy laughs. "Don't worry, kid. The first time's always the hardest" He says. "So, where's he hurt?"
"Back here" Lance says. "Don't be alarmed, it's just a hole. Everything else is fine"

Lance grabs you and rolls you over so that they can look at your back.

"A demon, huh?" The guy asks.
"Is that a problem?" You ask.
"Not with me" He says. "Let's get you fixed up"

"It doesn't bother you that I'm a demon?" You ask.
"Nobody would have brought you up here for help if you'd done something bad" The guy says. "Not with the Huntmaster down there, anyway. So I've got no reason to dislike you"

"And I went and found Winston because I knew that he would be willing to help a demon" Lance says. "There are people up here who would sooner knock you off the ship, so... be wary"

You fee the blood drain from your face at the thought of falling off the airship. "Y-yeah... gotcha"
"Still, this thing's nasty" Winston says. "Who the hell did this to you?"
"Carthac did" You say.
"Well damn" Winston says. "He must miss Heartclaimer, if he's still going for the heart. I heard that someone snatched it when the Legion attacked Sherton"

"That was me" You say, pointing to the spear on the ground next to you. "I got his spear this time too"
Winston chuckles. "A demon fighting the Legion" He says. "And winning too... I take it back. I think there might be a few people up here who'd want to buy you a drink"

"I wouldn't mind that" You say. "Can there be food with it though? I kinda skipped a meal or two today because of all the stuff attacking us..."

Winston pats your back. "I'm all done here" he says. "I was going to go grab dinner myself, why don't we snag something for him?"
"Sounds good" Lance says. "You uhh... stay put. We'll be right back, alright buddy?"

"Alright" You say.

You hear Lance and Winston leaving, and you roll over onto your back. It doesn't hurt anymore, and the weird breezy feeling in your chest is gone.

You lever yourself up so you're sitting on the railing, and unclip your mageblade from its peg.

You finally feel like you're getting the hang of this thing. In that fight you were able to keep it solid and sharp, and it made all the difference.

Since Carthac actually had to worry about your blade this time, you could put him on the defensive. You feel like that made all the difference.

It didn't do much for you when it became 3-against-1, but you think that the sharpest blade in the world couldn't have saved you there...

And that devil was weird... the way she sang as she lit everything on fire, the fact that she didn't really seem to care about the fight at all...

You remember Carthac saying her name... Cheska, you think it was.

You don't look forward to seeing any of them again... but if you want to be a good guy, you're going to have to clash with the bad guys every now and then.

Best to be prepared. Having the sharpest sword may not have won that fight for you, but it certainly wouldn't have hurt...

Rolled 65 (1d100)

So that's what you'll do. You noticed your lade lost a bit of its sharpness when your attention had to go elsewhere. While it didn't exactly turn into a bludgeon, you'd rather not risk that.

This kinda makes you wish you'd brought Tian's practice blades along... though you don't think you would have remembered to bring them up, and you definitely wouldn't go back down to get them.

But you make do with what you have, and activate your mageblade.

You can sort of feel the energy you're putting into it, along with the reserve that it's pulling from. It feels... full... at least in comparison to how it felt when you passed out on the way to Locke.

Beyond that you don't really have anything to compare it to, so you don't know how long it will stay "full". But you definitely feel like you've got some to spare for practice, you'll just have to keep it brief to conserve energy.

You focus on bringing the edges in more, without straining yourself. You figure that if you have to force it, you're doing it wrong.

After a minute or so of work, you don't see any visible difference. But it feels sharper. Not that you'd want to touch the edge to test that, but it definitely seems to have improved.

...

You realize that you really have no way of testing that up here... and if you actually improved, you would have no way of seeing by how much. So you really just have to trust your gut on this one.

Maybe you should get a block of wood and start putting nicks in it each time you think your blade has gotten sharper. That way you could see if there was any improvement, and see how much you improve by each time.

But that can wait until you get back to Locke. For now, you'll be satisfied with having something in your stomach. Preferably food, but you're getting less and less picky by the minute.

You deactivate your mageblade and clip it back onto its peg, then you look around.

There are significantly more people around you than there were when you took your mageblade out.

You smile. After everything that's happened today, Stella ranks pretty high on the list of people you'd want to see.

Emi probably ranks higher, because she gives the biggest hugs.

"Stello" You say.

Stella's smile widens. "Hey, didn't expect to see you up here"
"I didn't expect to be up here" You say. "And given the option, I probably would have stayed on the ground"

Stella giggles. "Yeah, the first time up is always scary" She says. "I first came up here as a little girl, and I cried the whole time"

"So I'm doing well by comparison" You say.
She nods. "Carrot?" She asks, offering you one from her basket.
"Thank you" You say, as you take the carrot and bite it.

Stella looks kind of sad. "I had to pull up all the ones in my garden, so there's lots" She says.

You nod. "Even if I have to punch the king in the face myself"

Stella giggles. "You don't have to go that far"
You take another bite of your carrot. "He has it coming" You say. "He did indirectly try to kill me, after all"
"Just be careful, okay?" She asks.
"I'll try, but I think I'm pretty bad at it" You say.
"Bad at being careful?" She asks.
"Yeah" You say. "I try, but then bad things keep happening..."

"So long as you stay in one piece, I think it'll be fine" Stella says, as she turns and hugs you.

"That spear" You say.
"What spear?" She asks.
"That spear" You say, pointing to where the spear is resting on the ground.

Stella frowns. "How did you get skewered?" She asks.
"Well we fought this monster, and we were talking about where it might have come from when a bunch of demons showed up" You say. "So I fought them, and Carthac stabbed me"

"But you're okay, right?" She asks.
"I'm fine" You say. "I managed to stab him back, and I may have kicked out a few of his teeth"
"And you kept his spear" Stella says.
"Again" You say. "I'm thinking of starting a collection"

Stella sighs and settles in next to you. Her hand hasn't moved from where it was when she found the hole in your shirt, and she leans her head on your shoulder.

"Well, you're in good enough shape to make jokes" She says. "And you're right. You are bad at being careful"
You shrug. "I do try though" You say.

You chat with Stella, and munch on your carrot for a little while after that.

Even though she's sad about leaving Sherton, she's looking forward to seeing her family again. It's been a while since she's seen big Hella, she's never met little Hella, Daniella is her favourite aunt, and Gabriella is "the cutest".

While she talks, you spot Lance approaching through the crowd. When he sees you, he smiles, nods, and leaves.

...

That was weird. Wasn't he supposed to be bringing food?

...

Ah well. Stella has lots of carrots, and you can always eat something else later.

"There was something I wanted to ask you" You say, when it seems like Stella is done talking.
"What's that?" She asks.

Hearing her talk about Hella reminded you of something... "When I was talking to the Huntmaster, he thanked me for helping 'his' Hella... what did he mean by that?" You ask.
Stella looks oddly confused. "I never told you about him?" She asks.

You shake your head.

"Oh... better late than never I suppose" She says. "The Huntmaster is my dad"

You shrug. "He seemed like a cool enough guy" You say. "But that is sort of a big detail to leave out..."

"Sorry! I'm so used to everyone already knowing about that" She says. "All the hunters do, and I don't spend much time around other people"
"That's fine, I guess" You say. "Come to think of it, I haven't really met anyone's parents"
"You mean your friends?" She asks.

You nod. "It never really occured to me before" You say.
"It's worth asking" She says.

"Maybe when I get back to Locke" You say. "I guess you'll all be going to the guild hall?"
"No clue" Stella says with a smile. "Some of us will be at the hall, sure. But the hall can't hold 4 cities worth of hunters"

"Where will the rest of you be staying?" You ask.
"I assume that some of us will be at the castle" She says. "I remember hearing talk about setting up a camp outside the walls, too"

"What about you?" You ask.
"Us rabbits will probably be at the guild hall, since that's where all of the administrative stuff will be happening" She says.

"Ad-mini-strative" You say. "What's that?"
"Don't worry about it" She says.

A little while after that, Stella pats your leg. "Sounds like the hunters are coming back up" She says. "This was a nice break, but I should get back to work"
"Aww..." You say.

"I know" She says. "I'd say see you later, but I'll probably be pretty busy for the next few days"
"That's alright, I will be too" You say.

Stella looks surprised, and a little ashamed. "I just realized that I never asked what you were doing in Locke" She says. "So, what's got you so busy?"
"Training with Altea's knights" You say.
"Really?" She asks. "How's that? I've heard some interesting stories about them"

"It's rough" You say. "But it seems to be working"
"That's nice to hear, at least" She says. "Anything else interesting?"

"I learned that Emi can take down a Centaur in less than five seconds" You say.
"Wow... remind me not to mess with her" She says.
"I will" You say.

"Alright, now I should get going" She says. "I might be busy, but if you find the time to drop by the guild, I'll try to make some time for you"
"I will, if I have the energy" You say. "You could always come by the castle and see me training, just don't be surprised if you find me getting my butt kicked"

Stella giggles. "Okay, that sounds good" She says, before giving you a peck on the cheek as she stands up.
"See you" You say.

She waves to you as she walks off. As soon as she's gone, Lance comes up and sits beside you.

"Har, har" Lance says.

You look up to see a woman with a hat and cloak like yours.

"Hey squirt" Layla says.
"Didn't think I'd see you up here, Layla" Lance says. "Thought you hated airships"
"I do" Layla says. "Archer and I flipped a coin to see who would come up and see what was keeping you"

You stand up, but don't follow her immediately.

Instead, you inch your way back to the railing and peer out again. Sure it's a long way down, but it seems like it's a bit more bearable when you aren't looking down.

From here you can see Locke in the distance. Kinda funny how tiny it seems. You guess everything must look small when you're up this hi-

Now you're looking down. That was the one thing you weren't supposed to do.

"Coming?" Layla asks.
You hop into action to get away from the ledge as quickly as you can. "Yeah. I'm coming" You say.

You follow Layla over to a stairway that leads deeper into the airship.

Stella's sorta creepy to me. Yuu clearly has no idea what she means with any of it, and she pursues him anyway.
>>
"Is it... please?" You ask.
"No!" Lily says.
"Is it... airship?" You ask.
"Not even close" Daisy says.
"Uhhhh... silk 'n' sweet?" You ask.

"Nuh-uh" Lily says.
"How about... Lance?"
"No"
"Blankets"
"Nope
"Brusselsprouts"
"Wrong"
"Tails"
"These are getting worse"

"Darn..." You say. "Wait... what's stopping me from just going in?"
"We are!" Lily says.
You consider that for a second, and then give Lily an evil grin.

Lily narrows her eyes, daring you to do what you're thinking of doing. Daisy seems sort of out of the loop.

You take a step forward.

I say we use this roll. Yuu wouldn't be going all out against the girls.

"You wanna go down?" Lily asks.
"Bring it on" You reply.

"Alright Daisy, like we practiced" Lily says.
"Wh-what?" Daisy asks.
"The thing" Lily says.
"Ohh! I got it" Daisy says.

"1... 2... 3!" Lily says, and then they both throw their weight forward to try and topple you.

It's... not all that effective. For one thing, aren't they trying to keep you out of the blanket fort? Why would they want you to fall towards it?

Come to think of it. Don't you win if you get inside?
...

They try again, and this time you go with it and fall forward. You turn as you fall to land on your back, rather than on them. Then you sit up.

"I hate to say this, girls. But..." You say, pausing to give both of them a peck on the cheek. "I win"

Lily looks around, and then reels in shock. "I forgot!" She says. "No fair! I demand a rematch"
"No" You say.

Lily puffs out her cheeks.
"W-well, now that you're inside. Do you wanna play?" Daisy asks.
"Absolutely" You say.

Lily lets the air out and smiles, before they both wriggle out of you arms and start dragging you further in.

"Come on! We've got a whole bunch of books and snacks and stuff back here!" Lily says.

We still haven't eaten anything but a carrot. They aren't filling.

"You had me at snacks" You say.
"Come on! We've got cookies" Daisy says.

They lead you to the back of the fort, between the two beds in the room. The room itself isn't very big, only being large enough to fit 2 beds, a night table, and some overhead racks for keeping stuff in.

"Here!" Lily says, handing you a little metal box full of cookies. "Mommy made them before we left. They're delicious!"

You take a cookie from the pile and bite it. It's sweet, and crunchy. You like it.

"Read this" Daisy says, handing you a book.

You take the book and examine the cover as the devils each snuggle up to you. The cover has a colourful drawing on it, and a title that reads 'the landless prince'.

You open the book to the first page and start reading. You thought you might have some trouble, but the words are all very simple. It must be made to be easy to read.

"What are you waiting for?" Lily asks.
"What do you mean?" You ask.
"You're not gonna read it?" Daisy asks.
"I am reading it" You reply.

Lily and Daisy both pout.

"You're supposed to read it out loud" Lily says.
"Ohhhhhh" You say. "I was wondering why you wanted me to read it... alright, let's see. 'The Landless Prince..."

When you finish reading that one, Lily hands you another one. Then when you finish that one, Daisy hands you another one.

When you're about halfway through the third one, the door opens.

"Oh my" Fran says. "Where is everybody?"

"Down he-" You say, before Lily and Daisy cover your mouth.
"Shhh!" Lily says.

Fran bends down to look under the blankets. "Hi there" She says.
"Hello" You say through the tiny hands.
"Aww man. She wasn't supposed to find us" Lily says.

Fran taps her nose. "You can never hide from me" She says, as she gets down and crawls under the blanket fort. "What are you guys reading?"
"The Dragon's Tower" You say.
"Ahh" Fran says. "That was one of my favourites when I was little"

"Mine too!" Lily says.

Fran brushes Lily's cheek with her hand. "You're still little" She says.
"I am not" Lily says.
"I'll believe that when you can tie your own shoelaces, sweetie" Fran says. "Anyways, Lance told me you were here, Yuu. But he never mentioned how you go up here"
"It's a long story" You say. "Probably longer than this book"
"We've got time" Fran says. "Lance got roped into doing some heavy work, and Layla didn't seem like she was having much luck getting Archer's stomach under control..."

"Oh" You say. "Alright then... so I was minding my own business..."

That's all for tonight!

Next thread will probably be like... Wednesday or something.

As always I'll be sticking around for question/suggestion time!
>>
>>253239
Thanks smiley
>>
>>253239
Woot. Nice thread. Now what can our new spear do or is it just a spear?
>>
>>253239
As always thanks for running Smiley

Somewhere from the deep recesses of my soul a voice is shouting to use our mageblade like a hook and swing down the anchor chain when we get back to Locke
>>
>>253239
Hey smiley I finally caught a quest live and want to say its great reading through your stories.
>>
>>253239
H
Our homeboy...I'm blanking on his name. The guy who can breath fire. Is he actually a hermaphrodite? I thought you said men are "normal" humans, yet he has a monster ability.
>>
>>253239
Great thread, Smiley!
>>
>>253272
Every boy inherits their mother's magic.
>>
>>253245
Possible, but not without a few minutes of prep. Your shaping stat is still 0, after all.

>>253244
It's just a spear that Carthac grabbed to use in place of the first one you stole.

>>253247
Glad you could join us. Always good to hear that people enjoy reading this.

>>253272
Derrick's mother's a dragon. There are a few types of women who are unique in their ability to pass traits down to both son and daughter. Dragons are one of those.
There are a few others on a list that I wrote out... somewhere. I'll put that list out if I can find it/anyone wants to see it.
>>
>>253287
So how much lolipussy are we getting exactly?
>>
>>253315
None. I said it back in ODW and I'll say it again: That is not what lolis are for.
>>
>>253315
Bad things happen when you try to do those kinds of things to Smileys Lolis
>>
>>253324
Come on don't act all pure with me now.

Now, will this reach some actual pairing conclusion or you will keep the romance far away?
>>
>>253315
None. Smiley's pretty vanilla.

>>253287
I'd like to see that list, and any other world building you want to share. Put it in the next Op.
>>
>>253332
About the most degenerate you can expect from smiley is these girls coming after Yuu once they're grown up. Demons don't age, I think?
>>
>>253334
A lot of it is on paper, since I do most of my notes and stuff during downtime when I'm at work. Which, coincidentally, is where my notebook is right now...

I can't wait to go in tomorrow morning, open my notebook, and find some glaring inconsistency that it's now too late to change...

>>253332
You could always shun the females and their feminine wiles, remaining celibate until the end.

But since that will never happen... yes, there will be a romantic conclusion at some point.

>>253348
Demons age.

I will go so far as to say that depending on how BtG goes, the chance to romance the devils will present itself. But if/when that time comes, you will not be playing as Yuu. I have a sequel planned
>>
>>253360
Wew, better have yuu end up with superior feline breed.
>>
>>253365
>feline
>superior

Nigger there are dragons and angels and the cat is the one you wanna breed with?
Set your standards higher.
>>
>>253379
I know right clearly snek girl is best girl
>>
>>253379
>>253784
Devil demon will be best. We'll make her regrow her heart from love of us.

Seriously though, cat and snake are my two front runners. We should just dust our clothes in catnip.
