Welcome to Genre Shift! Here, you control a poorly drawn human as he stumbles across time and space, from genre to genre.
What you missed last time:
>Gained some sweet loot from the prison armory
>Accidentally shifted into the Life-Sim Genre
>Without Aria or Hadrian
>Met and conversed with an alternate reality version of ourselves.
>We bought a home base area on a cliff named "THOR'S BLUFF"
>Shifted back to JRPG Genre and are now on the run from the guards after escaping from the prison.

You, Aria and Hadrian all stare into the flames of the fire as you attempt to recite a story to them from memory. You can't really remember all the words however and get it kinda mixed up. Something about a dude sitting
in the sun and everything melting. Hadrian doesn't look pleased.

Everyone decides to turn in for the night soon afterwards. Hadrian volunteers to take first watch.

You are too kind, Anon. Thank you.

Hadrian wakes you up soon enough and you take over second shift of the watch. Nothing eventful happens and although you consider waking Aria for her turn, you let her sleep.
Early the next morning you three are back to hitchhiking. A carriage soon rolls by and comes to a stop next to you.
The Driver is sitting inside the carriage, out of sight. A voice drifts out of the wagon.
>"Need a lifft?"
>>
>>254653
Yes, do it. Nothing could possibly go wrong! Go! Gogogo!

>"Climb right on in back"
The three of you climb into the back of the wagon. It's rather cramped in here, but you make it work.
>"Where are you ffine travelers headed?"
That's slightly odd. The voice sounds like it's coming from outside the wagon now.
Hadrian speaks up before you get a chance to.
"Just northward please. We're traveling to a village South-East of the Frozen Wastes"
>"Close to the Ffrozen Wastes, eh? I'm not heading that quite that far north, but I'd be glad to take you partway ffor a small ffee."

Sorry for the wait.

The voice calls from outside the wagon
>"The ffee will be Ffiffty Copper Crows to the head. Is this ffair enough?"
This is a currency you aren't familiar with. A quick look around and you can see a look of confusion on Aria and Hadrian's faces as well. Plus all your money was with your equipment.
All the cash you have on you is 5 Simoleons.
"Will you take services as compensation?"
The voice remains silent, contemplating for a bit before speaking up.
>"These services may be less than... ethical. But I shall except them iff you shall provide them..."
Aria looks a bit worried about this.
">Are these agreeable terms?"
>>
>>255445
The alternative is staying in a city where two of us are wanted for murder and escaping a prison, and undoubtedly the other is now wanted for aiding and abetting. We'll all be hunted here, and probably put to death since we can't be trusted to stay put in our cell(s).

The terms are acceptable.

You can hear people approaching in the distance. Yelling.
"-ver here! I think I found 'em!"
The voice hisses at you
>"Quickly, your answer?"
You feel extremely put on the spot as both Aria and Hadrian look at you.
"Fine, just get us out of here!"
The voice grins. you don't even know how this is possible
>"And to the north we go. One hundred and Ffiffty Copper Crows is your debt."
A strange yellow net cascades around each of you as the cart rushes off at an unusually fast pace.

The netting fades from view but you can still feel a chill under your skin.
You're kinda stuck in back here for now while the cart bounces around. What would you like to do or talk about. There are 2 barrels, a large crate and numerous burlap sacks back here with you..

You decide to meditate to pass the time. Hadrian still looks peeved, however, so you switch over to Aria's bench. While you felt uncomfortably cramped next to Hadrian, the closeness between you and Aria is nice.
You close your mind off to the bouncing of the cart and the sounds of the pursuit.
Your mind slips back to recall the various friends and foes you've encountered.

You are shaken out of your thoughts when the cart rolls to a stop.

>This guy.
Missed you, Don Patch

>>257476
The Voice tells you to step out, he has your first assignment ready.
The three of you hop out and look around. Looks like an abandoned military outpost. From the looks of it, it housed at least one Horse unit.

The big building appears to be lit with candlelight, but the dancing shadows make it impossible to discern any creature's movements.

>"These are the remnants off Ffort Ironhammer. You are to eliminate any squatters and to report back to me. Your payment shall be 10 Copper Crows to the kill."
Night is fast approaching and the carriage begins to move off. Its oddly quiet from the outside. A black whistle materializes in the air in front of you.
>"Blow this when you are ffinished here"
The wagon soon disappears from view.

Hadrian looks slightly apprehensive.
"Fort Ironhammer was overrun by a pack of Werewolves a few months ago. A few of my buddies were stationed here..." he trails off.

Aria, not meaning to be rude picks up where he left off.
"But tonight it's a New Moon so we shouldn't have to worry about any werewolves."
She also looks anxious, but for a different reason. You doubt she would take eliminating innocents very well.

What would you like to do?
There is a deserted stable with a few barrels and the large log fort building. Behind you is a small well for gathering water and beyond that is the path that you came from.
>>
>>257626
Loot the stable for anything usable, then operate the well bucket mechanism to check if the water is still clean
>>
>>257626
Go into the building and murder everyone you see

you only need to kill 15 people anyway
>>
>>257626
Check if the werewolf rumors are true. If you go inside and see soldiers maybe the post is filled with deserters instead of 'overrun'. If there is civilians... this will be tricky

You send Aria and Hadrian to check out the barrels and crate. They find a bit of preserved food and some spices.

You head over to the well to check the town's water supply.
You crank the bucket up and you can feel the weight of the bucket on the rope.
Instead of a nice batch of fresh water, you are greeted with a pile of bones sitting in murky brown liquid.
This surprises you and you let go of the crank, the bucket falls as the rope unravels.

You look over at her and she isn't doing too hot.
She completely drained her mana reserves and cast the remainder from her hit points.
It looks like she won't be much use should another fight break out.

Aria simply is rewarded a feat to not cripple herself after limit break moves, but will still need to recover mana. But it will not take effect until after she recovers from this one.

>>
>>260662
I agree with sheild throws, but Aria needs a real move. Maybe fireball is upgraded to flaming skulls?

We should get a special monk skill that let's us infuse our punches with our wizard element. Dual classing should offer something like that.

You skim through your Ice wizard handbook and find what a level 5 ice wizard can use.
Nothing new has actually unlocked.
You are disappointed.

Ray of Frost: Range-Close Send a Ray of freezing cold to target location. 40 Mana

Frozen Cloak: Range-Self Cloak yourself in armor of ice and snow. Extra defence. Expends 2 mana Per second

Ice Shards: Range-Medium Sends a few icicles(Number increasing with level) flying in target direction 50 mana

Blizzard: Range-Far Creates a blizzard which slows everything and everyone not resistant to cold. Duration-2 minutes 90 mana

Frostbite: Range-Touch Parts of the opponent are frozen solid on contact, dealing massive damage and potentially shatering that part. 100 mana

Imbue Ice: Range-Touch Target weapon(including fist) is imbued with the element of Ice dealing bonus cold damage. Expends 4 mana per second

Ice Blades: Range-Self Create Large swords of ice for your use. 85 mana

Pillar of Ice: Range-Medium Shoots a giant Icicle out of the ground after a short delay. Enemies hit take massive damage. 150 mana

Ice Affinity: Passive Skill- Ice Spells cost 10% less to cast. You may take this skill up to 4 times.

Wand Affinity: Magics preformed with a wand are 30% Stronger. You may take this skill up to 5 times.

Below these are a bunch of other spells in runes you cant quite understand. These must be spells for wizards higher than Level 5

Spoiler: A few mana costs have been rebalanced. I shouldn't need to change them again, but it's a possibility.

You check your monk skill book
A few new skills are available!

Unarmed Affinity: Unarmed Strikes deal 20% bonus damage. You may take this skill up to 20 times.

Meditaion: You may choose to meditate to recover Health by using mana.

Environmental Fist: Unarmed strike that causes double damage if an opponent is knocked into an obstacle.

Intensive Training: Choose a stat. +1.5 to that stat. You may take this skill as many times as you like.

Flurry of Blows: Doubles the amount of attacks you make this turn. This skill may be upgraded at level 10 and 20 for x4 and x8 attacks.

Palm Strike: Repeated Palm Strikes on an opponent gain an increasing chance to stun. Stuns are stackable, but the StrikeStack resets with each time a stun is successful. 20 mana +20 for every subsequent strike.

Aria/Hadrian to follow.

Hadrian's options:

Shield bash: Bash target with shield for moderate damage. Chance to stagger. 25 Mana

Dual-Wielded Shields: A skill unique to the Stonewall Clan, this skill allows the dual wielding of shields. Can be upgraded at level 20 to Tri-wielded Shields.

Defender: Choose an ally. Absorb all damage that would have been directed at them once. Taking another action dispels this effect. I know this kinda happened differently in the battle. I handled it poorly then and am tweaking it slightly.

Shield-Combat Affinity: Shields do 20% more damage in melee combat. You may take this skill up to 20 times.Half as effective while dual-wielding.

Shielding Affinity: Shields block 20% more damage. You may take this skill up to 10 times. Half as effective while dual-wielding. Penalty is dispelled upon reaching Shielding Affinity Rank 10

Shield Throw: Throw a shield at Target opponent for moderate damage. Shields must be manually recovered. May be upgraded to Shield Boomerang at level 15.

I thought it was the other way around? I thought he leveled up as a monk twice and as a wizard once. He was a level 3 monk and a level 4 wizard, right?

Mirror shield: any projectile gets reflected at the attacker for this turn

OK, so it's only 1 and it's been a really long day already and (insert 20 other lame excuses).
You are correct.
>>
>>261157
Then I say we do flurry of blows, intensive training in strength, and pillar of ice (which seems like a safe option against bosses considering our earlier mana boost and whatever it was that reduces the mana that we use for attacks)
>>
>>261176
Ice affinity, right
>>
Also, I say wand affinity for Aria and Sheilding Affinity for Hadrian
>>
Palm Strike, Intensive training: str, and I guess Blizzard for Fabio
Wand affinity for Aria
>>260891 This for Hadrian
>>
So, intensive training in strength is definitely going to be a thing, right? And we have one other intensive training in strength from before, right? So that makes our attack 6?

OK so here come the updated Char sheets. I haven't been able to draw much at work today, so I've been doing filler-y stuff in the meantime. I went with shield throw for Hadrian this time because it got seconded ages ago, but the Shield-Whirlwind thing will be available next time.

If you see any errors Lynch me let me know so it's fixed next time I post these.

You feed Aria some of the preserved food that you found earlier. While it restores a bit of HP, it does nothing for her mana reserves.
At least she isn't on the verge of death anymore.

The party now consists of you and Hadrian. You are standing in the stables with Aria wrapped up in her resting area. It looks like she needs some time to recover so you and Hadrian hide her away behind the barrels and crate.

You have the main fort to the north, the hills to the east, forest and what looks like a lake to the west, and the forest trail you came from to the south. The lights in the fort are extinguished now, but nothing else has changed.

Look for supplies in the various houses.
>>
>>261265
We may as well check out the main fort. If there's squatters there that aren't immediately hostile, maybe we can ask them about this whole "copper crows" thing.
>>
>>261283
I agree. We don't have to be immediately hostile.

I just thought it'd be interesting to check the math on the 25 1's in a row real quick
You have a 0.0000000298023224% chance of rolling 25 '1's in a row on a 1d2. You probably have a better chance of being attacked by a shark, struck by lightning, and winning the lottery at the same time.

Just pretend this is in black and white if the coloring is too shitty for you. Too hyped to try this tablet out.
You leave Aria and head towards the fort with Hadrian.
The door is locked but Hadrian doesn't really care. With a swift kick, the door falls inwards.
Groans from all directions tell you this might now have been the best plan.
