Welcome to Adventure Civ Medieval!

In this quest, you will help a medieval realm strive and grow as trouble arises and other nations work on their own agendas.

Last time, an Orc horde attacked the copper realms, which helped reunite them against the invader and stop their internal wars. The copper Golden maidens' lands were raided by the people of the forest, and they took many angry women to their homes. A queen from the sea visited Elfland. After she left, the whole entire fleet sunk in a terrible storm.
The Bowtie kingdom declared war to the ratlands, and developed its tactics and plans for a long-term war. Their Queen became an immortal lich.
The Sun people made spas and spa embassies.


how to play:
1) choose a realm to play for. change your name to reflect your choice (ex: Bowtie Noble). Max 4 players per realm.
2)each turn, your realm has 2 actions. You can choose a cultural, technological, or immediate acion, plus one bonus action based on your realms' bonus action(if your realm has a bonus tech action, you can do any action one time per turn, plus a tech action).
3)discuss with your compatriots which actions you will take. Once you're done, reply to my recap anchor post with the recap of your actions.

The classical shamans attempted to make the holy spa a training ground for new adepts. However, they could not force the self-indulging shamans and warriors out of the promised resort!

Disgusted in their people's degeneracy, the classical shaman secluded themselves in their temples, training under the harsh sunlight all day long, until some of them finally rediscover magical secrets long lost.

The Bowtie embassy reported a demand for help building a wall. The classical shamans saw no reason to decline the proposal. the action now needs to be taken by the bowties.

Finally confident his preparations are complete, the Marquis led his trained, well equipped troops beyond the border, aiming for the closest cities to serve as campaign headquarters.

The rats were prepared, but the shift in tactics pummeled their confidence, as their shots bounced off the formations harmlessly. With ingenuous use of the terrain, the Marquis cut the ratreat of his opponents and massacred them by the thousands.
The cities did not resist long. They're ground-level houses surrounded by low stone walls, with a burrow complex beneath, that let the most influent rats leave the city unseen.

Hearing the news of the Marquis' great successes, the Queen herself went to New Septent with her skeletal host to see for herself. She officially rewarded the Marquis, a blessing any proper noble would die for.

The elves improved their magical abilities. They learned uproot, which gives trees the ability to rise from the ground as ents. They only fight defensive battles, though.

The people of Elfland, fleet deprived, focused their violence on their rat neighbors with a grand, disorganized assault with no particular goal. The troublesome copper women were promised ownership of themselves if they volunteered in, everyone hoping they'd die quickly on the field.

The morale was very good, everyone eager to duke it out after the loss of their ships. The attackers were fierce and merciless.

The local rat guards were reinforced by the Litter's Little Helpers, their king's host of necromantic mages! Those fearsome death weavers were escorted by a troop of mice cossacks of the capital.

The cossacks came with a barrel of vintage cave brew, for them and the Helpers. The guards wanted some of it, but were refused.

In the night, a group of thievy guards attempted to steal the cossacks' brew. But well aware of their people's nature, the cossacks were taking turns watching the barrel! A brawl ensued, which escalated until someone got shot!

Then, complete chaos ensued. The nearby guards were startled awake, thinking the camp was under attack! Some started running away, then others followed, until the entire camp was running away, leaving only confused warlocks behind.

The warriors found only empty camps and undefended villages. No battle was fought.

For our turn I suggest leaving the spa resorts for what they are, atleast for now.

I like the idea getting birdkeepers in all embassies and major cities for swift communication, as of now we have no quick way of reaching out to our embassies.

another action that someone came up with is giant mirrors for focussed sunlight. they could be used for praying and for harm.

other things we could focus includes:
- the overal quality of our common folk.
- banning the spa rights of the lazy shamans through the power of the classical shamans and warriors
- get some more architecture to fancy up the place.
- ward the (now being constructed) wall with wards
- commune with spirits for ideas, they could probably help us.
- if we're gonna focus on intel gathering we could use spirits to fly over the lands which would give us details what the other realms are up to. right now we know very little of what the others do in game, we only know the mayor points such as the war with the orcs because refugees tell us.

there's probably other good or better options but this was what I could think of for now.

Coppers Our turn is by majority

Tech: MEGA HARVESTER. Basically putting blades on the wheels and dramatically increases harvests and food production

Action: Invade the orc lands. Also capture orcs.

We move in a formation with shields and then crossbowmen. Lots of crossbows and ballistas.
The warriors from the warlords are in front and kneel for the crossbow engineers and our siege to just FUCK the orcs up. The maidens are also in front as they have the most armour and defensive tactics.

A coastal wall has been built, with manpower support from the southern allies. The quartermasters complained the Sun workers were a lazy bunch, and that it was more contagious than plague. The wall will be done in two turns and consumes a lot of resources and manpower.

The rats only dared the smallest skirmishes and scouting operations this year, their courage dimmed by the presence of the Queen herself, residing in New Septent's new church.

This required a classical shaman to be sent to each embassy for contact, though, which is not pleasing the Queen's inquisition at all.

The classical shamans persevered in their sun communions, but nothing has dawned upon them yet.

A warlord traveled south in a journey of self-discovery after the horrible things the orcs had done to him and his family. When he seeked the wise councils of the Wise-Men of South, he was disgusted to find lusty lardasses dipping in boiling ponds all day. He went to the nearest temple of the sun, and in a dramatic tone, introduced himself to the more sane shamans. He expressed his disgust, said he was going home, and that if they wanted to send the fat men to his place, he'd make them real men.
The shamans didn't really believe he'd manage to make anything out of those guys, but sent a troop of loafing shamans with him anyway. They'll come back next turn.

A wall is being built north, on the seafront, with the help of the eastern Bowtie allies. The bowties feel a bit out of place in the evening at the bathhouses, how prude!

Alright, an idea for what we can do.

We can start fortifying the lands that are frequently targeted by the orcs so they'll be less likely to succeed in raiding them.

We also need to deal with the fact how good their troop quality is compared to us. I propose since the turn said we had horses is to begin training soldiers to use horses in battle to become horse archers as our tech since its never been done before in this world.

The elves are getting paranoid with all these new women running around free in their orderly country. They actively maintain an ent retinue of peacekeepers, ready to act at the first sign of trouble.
The situation would have probably blown up long ago, if those measures weren't taken, and the elves are proud of themselves. The elven womens' only mean of resistance left is their refusal to procreate.

The fleet is being rebuilt. However, the funds are lacking. The mercenaries stopped helping the elves, claiming their treasure is theirs alone.

The war froze on the rat front. Rats have been kicked or eliminated out of the captured cities.

The thing about it is that they don't necessarily need to be conquering land as is, just hosting small raids and kidnappings that will both boost the slave population of The Tree Nation once slaves start being sold off to The State, and cause the northern front of The Rat Lands to weaken due to constant assault and fear.

And if you start a program to buy slaves freely to the state, you could have The Elven Council owning an army of slaves themselves instead of having the slave population distributed among private ownership.

This makes it to where you can direct the use of slaves as a viable force in building, farming, or even military if you start raising their children as warriors from birth.

If all goes well by a short while The State would be able to keep watch of a load of war prisoners, rowdy daughters, or rebellious women directly instead of entrusting that the father of a household could upkeep his slaves. This is a great work around for avoiding having to give rights to women, but at the same time taking more power out of the hands of the slave class, and better putting them to use on something better. For example maybe you can have your slave army all crafting boats. You'll be amazed how much an army of slaves can get done.

I'm a little worried this isn't going to work out. Having women and men be equal in such a short time frame after generations of inequality would undoubtedly have a lot of detractors amongst the men and male elves and could cause strain between the women who had to work for their rights and the ones who did nothing. We have to ease them into equality, so that no one gets too mad. Having the orange maidens be free after the campaign and giving rights to the secret police was a step in the right direction; we should focus on giving women rights through deeds rather than just flat out handing it to them. Eventually enough women would have earned their rights this way they will functionally be free. Of course the slaves won't get this option, make them stuck on the bottom of society.

The thing about harvesting grain is that it likes to lay down when you smack it, so people had to cut it real low to the ground, and nobody truly had the technical know how to develop a kind of clockwork machine that could do anything like that.

Well mechanized farming wasn't good until The Industrial era and the invention of liquid fuel tractors. The thing about steam is that it's bulky, hard to control, requires fire to function, and has a habit of exploding. These are all pretty massive downsides to trying to farm, especially the fire bit.

The reason only Trains became useful in steam-powered movement is because you don't need to steer hose. It is quite literally what you have now, just on rails.

Right now though it seems as if the bst way you have of turning your steam tractors is to put a horse in front of it and pull it, which is kind of redundant as you've now just made a spinny plow.

The Queen has historically privilegied her firstborns, which gave them much power over the other royal families. However, the Queen has been quite disinterested in their fate in this generation.

Today, their military power is quite weak, however, their honor and renown are still great, and they are the national trend-setters.

the new lord of the goldheart clan is very young. Before he was old enough to care about such things, his father and brother went to war with the Maiden, like his mother, against the bad warlords of the south.

But they were cruelly betrayed by the northern engineers. They lost, they were executed, and their lands were taken. Now, the little lord lives with his sister in their aunt's castle on the island, petitioning for help getting their own lands back. But the Maiden turn deaf whenever they ask for concrete military support.

the Simsuns are a model family in the sun-blessed lands. The father is a proud shaman, that even goes to the temple sometimes. Though he mostly dips all day.
The mother is a housewife, doing massages on sundays, which she finds quite a fullfilling task.
The daughter plans on being the first woman shaman, or at least be a master mage. She feels surrounded by fools and loves school.
The son doesn't go to school that much, peeking at the women's bath and throwing rocks at the dipping fatties is a lot more entertaining.
