Looking for a journey through a strange land filled with monster girls and magic? Well, you came to the right place! This quest has an emphasis on world building, character-driven narrative and recently combat.

Last time you traveled back in time to discover the mystery behind the destruction of an ancient human village. Turns out it was you. You, and your friends Yuki, and Anna began to train in magic and after studying briefly under the Wizard Uriel you traveled to the Eversong forest. On the way, you stopped by a small village in the plains which was raided by sirens. In the process, they stole your friend Victoria so you began a journey to the siren village to rescue her. Upon arrival, you were confronted by the siren leader and then fell unconscious due to her magic melodies. What could this siren have in store for you and you friends? Why does she care about you so much? Will Mother ever tell you exactly what is going on? Find out as the quest develops.

You awaken naked in what seems to be a hot spring. “Finally awake are you” You hear the voice of the siren leader directly above you. After a second of realizing exactly where you were you find yourself to actually be sitting in her lap in the springs with her. “I must admit I was surprised to find out you were in fact a woman, but looking at you now it is clear that your clothes don’t do you justice.” You would be annoyed that you keep hearing this, but at the moment you are too busy concerned about everything that had just happened. “As for this sudden bath I should like you to know that I am a benevolent master, but I appreciate my servants clean. Seemed like you haven’t bathed in weeks so feel free to thank me.” What ensued was an incredibly uncomfortable bath filled with as much unwanted physical contact you could ever stand as she insisted on washing you personally. By contrast, she was enjoying herself greatly, to the point where she was taking pleasure in the action.

“Oh, I suppose I lost myself in the fun there. My name is Aviana leader of the siren village Arcadia in Eversong. From now on you will live with me as a personal handmaid.” At this point, you notice the collar around your neck with a red feather attached to it. “Ah, yes the slave collar, I’m afraid it doesn’t come off, but don’t worry despite its name under my care the collar should not be a hindrance, also the red feather is my symbol for property. As long as you have that no one in the village should assault you, or else incur my wrath.” Now I suppose you have many questions, and I would be happy to answer them for you. Though you should be quick about this, you have your first assignment to perform.”

“Your “friends” are likely okay, one of them is trying awfully hard for your sake. The other landed a rather cushy job for a slave healing the injured. The basilisk has become a sculpture for our great monument currently in production. The rambunctious one is still where you lost saw her, in fact, she has become a crowd favorite.”

“ Why am I doing this? Hahaha. Because I can. It is a privilege of the strong to command the weak. I am merely exercising my privilege.” She seems quite pleased with herself. “With that, you are to go to your first task. The servants of my house have recently got rambunctious, not as much as your violent “friend,” but they could become a problem. You are to silence them, by any means necessary. You intrigue me greatly and I look forward to what you do in this situation.” She laughs and sends you on your way.

This situation is even worse than when you were trapped in Mother’s Castle! Speaking of which, “Mother are you there?” “Indeed, and I must say darling, you are in quite a bind. Though you heart was in the right place, wanting to save your friend and all. But was charging straight into their camp really the wisest option? *sigh* I suppose this journey was for you to learn, but I had hoped you were able to read situations better than this. None the mother, you will simply have to struggle, and deal with the consequences. Was there anything else you needed?”

Ask Mother if there is anything she call tell you about Aviana. Also ask Mother if she could teach us more about Death Magic and the like.
>>
>>339514

“This Aviana I have no knowledge on though she seems to have a strong sense of pride and enjoys having power over others, which is a common Siren trait.”

“You wish to learn more of Death Magic you say. I had no idea you aspired to be the likes of a necromancer or warlock. If you wish to learn there is some I could teach you mut doing so over call will take much more time than in person.”

What do you wish to learn?

Increase direct damage spells. Might as well be able to kill with magic.
>>
>>339568

“Direct damage it is,” you spend some time with mother in your head telling you proper casting of death magic and you feel like you got the grasp on some more medium level death touch attacks. “That will have to do for now darling, you are needed so it seems.”

Off to the servants quarters. On your way down this huge mansion of a house for a village, no one tries to stop you, most of the other people in here are house servants anyways. Once you get to the actual quarters, however, you notice just how many Aviana has. There were at least 30 including the ones you saw on the way down. They were a mixture of races to be sure. Dog folk, lizardfolk, cat folk, and even a human like you. Wait a minute, a human?!

“Alright everyone, I got a plan, one that will teach that bitch a lesson for sure this time.” The human called to the others. “Adrian, you say that literally every time but all it gets you is a beating.” one of the cat folk retorted. “Well, that's just because we haven’t found the right plan yet. I swear all we got to do is take her hostage and cut off her magic and we can bust our way out of here.” This must be the rambunctious mess you were sent to fix. Though from the looks of it this seemed to be a normal occurrence and Aviana likely got tired of dealing with it.

Use Diplomacy. Call Adrian over. Tell him that Aviana sent you and that she wants everyone to calm down and get to work. Warn him that the next person to be sent is probably going to be way more hostile. Also see if you can't arrange a meeting with him later.
>>
>>339798

You walk closer and try to wave Adrian over. It wasn’t hard as most of the other servants have checked out of his ramblings. “Hello Adrian, I’m new here and Aviana sent me to-” “YOU'RE HUMAN?!” he shouts. But they haven’t been here for hundreds of years, which means your a time traveler or… oh.” He looks at you like he completely understands your situation. “Anyways Adrian we can talk about this later, we need to calm down this little rebellion.” It was currently 1 man big. “Next time Avian will probably send someone much more violent. For now, you need to be quiet. We can talk later about getting out of here.” He nods. “Come back down here tonight, we can discuss all this,” he says.

You return to Aviana. “My word handmaid, you are quite efficient. That brat has always caused me trouble but the rarity of his species garnished my interest when we first snagged him. It's kind of endearing in a way, how he thinks he can escape and not give up hope. Hahahaha! What a moron.” She collects herself. “I would have preferred a more violent touch personally but the arena is always there for that. Speaking of which I was thinking of heading there again today. Would you like to join me?” she asks. “I have a choice?” “Of course, you don’t silly” She drags you off with her.

The site outside was something to behold. Same about of slavery everywhere, but Aviana was something else, her mansion was impeccable and had 10 landscapers/house cleaners at all times. The rest of the village was similar but nowhere near as clean as her home. The arena was only a few minutes away, plus Aviana flew you there. Though she made you wave her with a fan as repayment once seated.

You hear a booming voice. “Next, we have the new rising star of the gladiators, so far she has bested the cat folk, and dog folk. Today she faces the dreaded tigers. As you, all know this fighter is known for never actually killing combatants. Give it up for… Mercy!” The crowd uproars. Mercy must be a gladiator name, but based on the crowds reaction this should be quite a fight. Mercy walks out onto the arena, wearing almost no armor and only carrying a sword. It’s a girl and as she walks further forward you can get a better look at her. “ANNA!” Aviana is smiling deviously. What is going on here?

Ask why Aviana is forcing Anna to fight and why she is forcing people to fight in the first place. Also start looking around making note of guards and how well defended the Aviana currently is. Along with how well defended she has been.
>>
>>339989

“What is going on here!” you yell at Aviana. She slaps you. “Do try to be quiet during the good parts.” “Why are you making Anna fight, in fact, why do you make people fight in the first place.” She raises and eyebrow, “you remember our discussion from before? Because I can, plus I love a good blood sport. *sigh* if only Mercy wasn’t so nice. Anna still had her sword and was fighting with it but her blows would never cut, only impact. “She is a special case I would say, when you fell unconscious she yelled to me “I’ll do anything just let us go”” She imitates Anna in an annoying girl voice. “So I told her all she has to do is become number 1 in the arena and I would let you go. Look at how hard she is trying for you? Doesn’t the struggle just tantalize you?” No, in fact, it doesn’t.

Anna was holding her own against the tigers, attacking only in counters but it was enough to wear out the tigers, as well as her. She came away from the fight with more than a few scratches but victorious none the less. The crowd cheers. Maybe Anna actually has a shot at winning you guys out of here.

Now that you think about it Aviana doesn’t seem that guarded like she has this sense that no one would actually attack her here. She has complete confidence in herself it seems. There are always squads of sirens guarding the village entrances and exists, though.

“Ahh here comes the second favorite for the number 1 position” “?” It’s Victoria. Unlike Anna, she is called The Harbinger. Of what you can only assume is her fists or spear. She fights off against a group of lizardfolk but defeats them all with ease. Unlike Anna Victoria cares little for their lives and simply fights until they stop getting up.

“Both excellent fighters I would say, makes me look forward to the possible championship matches there could be. Regardless let us return” You head back to the mansion where you spend the rest of the day attending Aviana and doing menial tasks while keeping her company. Night descends and you have to figure out how you are going to spend it.

Talk to Adrian. We promised we would. Also start to note guards in the mansion and it's layout.
>>
>>340123

You promised to talk to Adrian earlier, you should head down to the servant quarters. On your way, you not night shift guard positions. Again, incredibly lax. The layout of the mansion itself is hard to pin down there seems to be two main floors but the second floor feels like an open combination between a 2nd and 3rd floor. Vaulted ceilings and a huge staircase in the center.

You reach the servant quarters and find Adrian leaned against a wall in the back. He begins the conversation“So, you from back home too?” “Back home?” “Earth the mortal plane or whatever Mother called it.” He must be on of the five Mother mentioned a while back. “Yeah, It has been quite a ride so far.” “Yeah… so how did you get out?” “My friend and I busted out in a couple hours.” “No way! It took me two years of fighting with the others and figuring out what the hell she actually wanted from us. Hell, I still don’t know what that woman wants from us.” “Me neither” He takes a deep breath, regardless we can’t find out trapped in here forever? You wanna bust out of here like you did with Mother? In my opinion, Aviana is worse, at least Mother isn’t a sadistic bitch who forces people into slavery”

Trying to bust out now would do no good. More people would get trapped and we have friends we want to rescue. So if we want to get out we should try and free everyone so we can get an army together and kill Aviana and break up this slavery. I think Mother would like that.
Also tell Adrian about the lax security along with asking him if he know whether or not the collar are magic or just plain metal collars. Also Ask Adrian if he has a connect to Mother like us. Along with asking Adrian about his skills.

“Yeah I wanna bust out of here, but doing so now would only cause trouble, we need to plan and time this just right to take Aviana out. I got some friends throughout town that can definitely help as well, but they are currently occupied. I noticed that security around Aviana is lax and the other real thing guarded in the village are the perimeters.” “In which case, the best time to break out would be when they go out to snatch new slaves.” He’s right. With a majority of the guards off raiding towns, the defenses of the village would be even laxer, couple that with the slave to siren population already favoring the slaves means we could cause a successful uprising. “There is one problem though” Adrian hesitates. “The collars themselves are magically made, plus that crazy bitch’s song messes with your head. How are we gonna deal with that?” “The easiest way would be to kill Aviana, or somehow make her break the spell.” “Hmm, alright we’ll bide our time for now.”

“Also Adrian, do you have a… connection with Mother or something like that?” “What do you mean?” “Can you like, talk to her in your head?” “No way, that would be fucking creepy” “Yeah… that sure would be... “ Suddenly in your head, “How dare that brat judge my methods of communicating with my darlings. Hmpm, serves him right getting caught in this mess.” You can practically see her pouting in your mind.

“What exactly can you do in a fight, Adrian?” “Not much I am afraid, until getting captured here I wandered around with nothing but my clothes and a large piece of wood I found and used as a shield. That doesn’t mean I can't do anything, and you know what they say, you just gotta have the right spirit. He points in the air as if victorious and confident in his seemingly non-existent abilities.

The rest of the night was uneventful and you spent it sleeping away after doing some minor plotting with Adrian.

What is our grand plan for getting out of here anyways?

*Puts on General's Hat*
Acquire more info on the layout of the town. Find main holding locations for slaves and how to get into the Gladiator holding area. Along with Guard counts on each place.
When info is acquired grab and hide some sort of blade on our person. Then wait until the guards go out to raid. Hold up Aviana at knife/magic point and tell her to undo the spell on the collars. Preferable do this when she is relaxed and not on guard but still when the raiders are out. If she doesn't undo the spell kill her. If she does undo the spell kill her, she is a maniac and needs to die or all our gain will be for not. Also if she tries to use her song on us kill her.
After Aviana is dead and our collar's spell is broken, grab Adrian and all the forces we can muster and attack either the main slave holding pen or the Gladiator hold area. Which ever has the least amount of defenses. After we have broken out more slaves, start to move our revolt over to the other holding area so we can break out the rest of the slaves. Then it is a simple matter of drowning the remaining Sirens in bodies.
After the Slaves are freed and this village is ours prepare an ambush for the returning raiders. Then slaughter them.
If we do have siren survivors, which is unlikely, we shall interrogate them.

You have a very good idea of how generally you want things to go but this will take time. At least a week to fully get underway. You start scouting out town more when Aviana sends you on errands to benign for her. The slaves have their own districts, as not all people like Aviana has storage for them at home. You try to get into the gladiatorial slave pits but it is the one thing guarded rather well. Then a thought occurs to you. You flash your collar and tell them that Aviana sent you to inspect the combatants for the competition. As it turns out there was a semi-organized tournament to deciding ring championships and the championships were coming up. The guards let you in seeing the red feather.

The gladiatorial barracks were a mess, nothing was to significantly different than the normal slave district besides the fact that everyone was armed. Each gladiator had their own separate rooms and there was a cohesive infirmary. I got in here, now what should I do?

Check on championships than go to Anna's room
>>
>>340412
>>340461

Let's see if we can’t find Anna. You walk over to Mercy’s room and you see Anna practicing swinging a sword and what you can assume is her alteration powers. “Anna?” she turns, and then runs over and hugs you. “Oh just where have you been you big dumb?!” “Trying to figure out a way out of here, how are you doing?” “Alright, I suppose, If I win the championships coming up we’ll get all of us out of here.” She pauses “The only problem is that I will likely have to fight Victoria.” “That shouldn’t be a problem! All you would have to do is have one of you surrender.” “I am told that championship matches you aren’t allowed to surrender. “Plus… “ She hangs her head. “...I don’t think Victoria would want to surrender anyways.” “That
S absurd! Surely she understands the situation we are in? We need to get out of here and your way might just be the fastest way!” “I know that, but she honestly looks like she wants to fight me. And I more than anyone know that she deserves a good hit from time to time. I just.., don’t actually want to fight her.” You put your hand on her shoulder. “Anna, all you can do is try your best, If it comes to blows between you two all you have to do is communicate with your blows. I’m pretty sure that is how Victoria prefers it anyways.” “Hehe, yeah I’m sure that brute is looking forward to our “conversation”.”

There are only two more rounds till the championships and you know Aviana is going to be there to watch it. Which means so will you. You can only hope for the best at this point. You have begun to linger here a bit too long and need to head back or else suffer suspicion. While heading out though you snatch a small knife you can hide on yourself to deal with Aviana when the time comes.

The championships were upon you and after a riveting, semifinals matches that involved victoria suplexing a creature three times her size, and Anna fighting off a horde of skeletons it was time for the Finals. Which as predicted was between Victoria and Anna. On your way to the arena that day you heard Aviana talking with a guard. “After tonight's festivities, it would be a good idea to grab some fresh blood. We can’t have the audience dulled over the same combatants can we?” After the championships were to be a celebration in the victor's honor and immediately after a snatching? Today just might be the right day.
>>
>>340492

You and Aviana arrived at the arena, early. And in fact, it turned out that Aviana herself would be announcing the combatants this night. “Today is the day we have waited for not only is it the day of our honored championship, but it is also the day of the clash between Mercy and Harbinger. I must say I am quite honored to introduce these two to you all. What then ensued where two over the top flashy entrances filled with magical dancing lights, smoke effects and even entrance songs played by the choir for each combatant. The WWE back home would be proud.

“No, we have a field of honor here so ladies please shake each other's hands for we all wish for a good fight.” The both do so, but Victoria almost death grips Anna’s hand. “Just because it's you doesn’t mean I am going easy pipsqueak.” “Nor you, brute” Aviana places her hands on both of them and separates them personally, but not before touching their collars. “We don’t want these coming off during the fight do we. “Not like it matters.” After they are the proper distance away from each other Aviana walks back and makes one final announcement. Patrons it is my distinguished honor to inform you that this match will be in dedication to our traditional rules and will be… to the death.

“WHAT!”

This next section the player will be taking over either Anna or Victoria. This decision will have extended voting time due to the nature of its importance it may have in the plot.

Standing across from you was a little brat. She tries so hard to be bigger than she normally is. Talking big game but never backing it up. What can she expect to do in this crazy place? Whatever she just really pisses me off right now. Let's get this over with. You assume a fighting stance.

“They said this was a fight to the death twerp you better prepare yourself.” “I don’t care what that woman said, I will win without killing you Victoria!” Still delusional I see. She may have her fancy magic, but my combat reflexes far surpass hers. This should be simple.

You rush in, not giving her a chance to react as you swing the first blow with your fists. A few good shots on her but nothing beyond preliminary blows. She managed to land a good counter on you as well but there was a problem with her strike. “You’re still using that magic to make your sword blunt huh, what are you an idiot?

Meh, might as well just beat the shit out of her. We can make her seemingly dead too. The street life taught me that there was a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. This shouldn’t be too hard, just gotta pull the important punches.

This time, Anna runs in. “Ohh, got guts on you now? Trying to actually back up that game.” You punch her in the side as she rolls to hit you. “Ahhh,” You move for a grapple and german suplex her. “Ahh, why must you always be like this” “What? Stronger than you” “No, difficult. She springs up and shield slams you. Wait a minute she didn’t have a shield. Where did it come from?

“Nice trick there, you practicing to become a magician back home.” “Not quite, I’m practicing for surviving out here.” *Chck* That's what pissed you off the most, the fact that she thinks she can handle a situation when she clearly can’t. “Come on then!” You kick her new shield into her. “Were just getting started, aren’t we. Show me you can actually do something other than talk!” Anna rushes at you again shield raised. She can’t see like that and you simply slide under her to knock out her legs. When you do so, however, you are met with a sword swipe across your face. Blunt though it was it still hurt. “Look at you charging into situations without comprehending risks!” Anna taunted. “Shut up!”

The twerps magics tricks can’t last forever you run feint under and instead jump over her shield block slamming her to the ground. Time for my favorite part. “This is the match Anna” you just unload on her while you are mounted. Punching everything that moves until it doesn’t. “AHH, UGH, AHH” You hear from the crowd “STOP IT VICTORIA!” It was your leader, by the head bitch here. She clearly doesn’t think you are fighting to pretend to kill her but that just means this looks authentic. Once she sufficiently stops struggling you dismount and begin to walk away in victory.

Only to have a pole hit you in the back and send you to the ground. “Wha-” Anna tries to stand, she touches her legs and is then able to stand miraculously. “Fucking magic.” She shouldn’t be this good at this.

You grab the pole that she threw at you and use it to stand. “Why won’t you just stay down to finish this!” Anna coughs “Because I said… I would win.” “Fine!” You toss the pole at her but it dissolves in mid-air. And instead, you have a second pole barreling toward you. “Fucking magic.”

Anna takes the opportunity to toss her shield at you to make sure you are down before getting on top of you. She returns your kindness from before by beating you now to a pulp. You whisper while it is occurring. “Fake it” she whispers back “I don’t plan on killing you at all I hope you know” There’s that attitude again. She agrees not to actually kill each other but she did so in a way that only made you angrier.

When she is getting off of you grab her legs and pull. One of you needed to lose, but it seems neither of your prides would let you. You trade blows on the ground that are slowly losing their momentum. After a bit, you pull each other up. “Just stay down already you brat” “You first” You punch her in the face. “Who do you even think you are anyway” Anna coughs, "your friend” Friend? Friend! FRIEND?! “What the hell do you know!” you kick her in the stomach. “You don’t know anything about me, and you think we’re friends?” Anna gets up and delivers a punch to the stomach.“You never tell us anything about you! All you do is sit off by yourself until you need to fight something! Can’t you learn to talk to us!” “And what would that accomplish?! People forming bonds? Like family or some shit. I have had enough of those!” Anna punched her again. “Why do you keep lying!” “I am not lying!” “THEN WHY ARE WE HERE?!” Victoria stops for a second. “What?” “If you don’t want friends or family or nothing then why are we here doing this right now?! Why have we been together as a team for the past weeks?! Why did you tell me to fake it instead of actually try to kill you?!” “shut up,” “Stop lying to yourself. “Shut up.” “We’re friends Victoria.” “Shut up!” “No amount of lying to yourself will change that!" “I SAID SHUT UP!” you punch her as hard as you physically can. She falls over. And stops moving.

“ANNA!” you hear your leader cry. “Aww, just when we were getting to the really good part.” She snaps her fingers for a guard. “Someone confirm she is dead.” Two guards fly over. “She is still breathing lady Aviana.” “That's no good, go and finish it Harbinger.”

You walk over to the guards and Anna. “I won’t do it.” “You must Aviana yells.” “I don’t listen to you crazy bitch.” “This does ever so leave a dull taste in my mouth. Victoria, I command you to kill Anna.” Pain reverberating within you head at the thought of not Killing her. “AHHHHH!” “That is enough!” your leader yells and jumps at Aviana.

The pain in your head is growing worse.

“I… don’t care… about your damn orders!” You pick up one of the nearby guards and throw them at Aviana. You are in excruciating pain, but fuck that bitch. Your leader was already struggling with her and the flying guard managed to hit both of them. At least you hit her. “Get up Anna. Things are about to get interesting. AHHHHHH” the pain is still immense but you are powering through it at the moment. Anna is groggy at best and likely won’t be of any help for a couple minutes. But it seems that you have a distraction to last that long. The spectators in the stands are already winding up at the site. The patrons and their slaves are eyeing each other suspiciously while looking on.

This might be your chance to start something big.

Usually, this is the leader's thing, but given the situation, might as well give it a shot. It probably won’t hurt anything at least. Probably.

“Listen up you pathetic excuses for men! This bitch here and all these siren bitches here stole you from your homes and just tell you what to do. And you just sit there and let them! These collars are nothing! I have been here only a week and I can tell that you sorry lot outnumber sirens at least 2:1. What's holding you back from taking back your lives?! Oh, that’s right… YOU! I wish to retract what I just said about you being men. None of you now are men, only slaves. A man chooses. A slave… obeys.” You struggle through the pain and reach your hands up to your neck.

The pain is making it hard for you to grasp, but you will be damned if that bitch will control you any longer. You tear off your collar and raise it to the crowd. “WHAT ARE YOU ALL.” the crowd chants back “MEN! MEN! MEN!” “THAN PROVE IT AND CHOOSE,” You throw your collar down to the ground the crowd roars. “OOOOHHHHHH” Chaos breaks out. Many of the men fall over and start convulsing in pain but there is enough to where it doesn’t matter The damage you cause can’t be fixed so easily.

Suddenly though you hear a hum in your mind. “Fuck! I forgot about that bullshit.” It’s impossible to tell who might be singing it, probably many of the sirens are.

You need to decide what exactly to do fast or risk being subject to the sirens songs once more.

This is your chance, Aviana is still in a tussle with your leader, but if time has shown you capable of one thing is it's hitting your mark with a thrown weapon, and that weapon going through the target. Anna’s pole was still lying on the ground and it would be your best bet. You wind up and launch the pole at your enemy with as much force as you can muster.

There are few throws in history that ever turn into legends. Like the bones that were thrown by Pyrrha and Deucalion, that became women and men. The mud that was thrown by the goddess Aruru that created the great Enkidu companion to Gilgamesh.Your throw was such a throw. Though it did not like the others result in the creation of life, but its obliteration.

The pole goes through Aviana’s heart and carried enough force to actually pull her along with it into the arena wall behind her. Aviana’s body hung limply on the pole through her heart, displayed finally on the wall. Aviana died instantly. Almost too kind a death for a woman like her. The ensuing Chaos was so much that some didn’t notice the fine display but the sirens that did were mortified and flew away for their lives. You pick up Anna and walk over to your leader. “I don’t know who you manage to do it every time Victoria, but you never cease to amaze.” She grows a bit serious, “ Now though we have to take care of Anna, find Akitani and get out of here. “Right!” “Are you okay to hold Anna while we run. “Yeah, I know where Yuki is at least.” “Where?” “The infirmary.”

You head down to the infirmary below the arena. While doing so you raise 5 or so skeletons to add even more chaos to the situation. “NOOOO!” Yuki screams. “C'mon girly, you're too useful to let go, the slaves are rioting, but we will be damned if you get away.” “Hey, fuckers!” Victoria yelled, but the guards weren't endanger from her. You touch both guards on the shoulder and their respective arms rot and fall off. “AAAHHHHHHH!!” You knock both of them down, and they are in too much shock to cause hindrance to you. You hug Yuki who is crying. “Where have you been?!” “Finding our way out of here. I don’t have time to explain we have to move fast.” “Okay… Let me see Anna while we are leaving.” Yuki’s places hers hands on Anna and light emanates from them, slowly healing her wounds. She does the same to Victoria.

“I know likely where Akitani was.” “You head for the center of town.” Chaos has spilled into the streets and although dangerous no one really tries to stop you on your way through town. “Once you reach towns you see Akitani. She seemed to be wearing a beret, had what looked like sunglasses on with earplugs in and working on a huge sculpture of what you assume to Aviana. Boy did she have quite an ego. “Akitani!” She can’t seem to hear you. You get closer, “AKITANI” “WHAT?! YOU ARE INTERRUPTING MY WORK!” she takes the ear plugs out and turns to you. “Oh no… I didn’t mean… “ “It’s fine we need to get out of here now!” “Oh, so that was the noise I tried blocking out... “ Seems she is just now noticing the riot. As you are leaving Victoria asks. “Hey is this sculpture supposed to be the head bitch?” “Yes, why?” Victoria doesn’t answer instead. “Anna can you make a bigger pole and harden it. I want to make this more representative of her” “Anna, groans and does so.

“Wait, everyone, we need to head to Aviana’s mansion.” “What why?” Victoria protested. “Because there is someone there that might be important.” “Might, be” “Listen, it's another human and he knows Mother, this can only help us I think.” “Whatever boss.”

You make your way to the mansion. Again, chaos. Adrian seems to be leading the one house revolution wearing as many jewels as he could find and pointing off into the distance as if he is leading some great charge into the breach. “The time has come my friends! As I have predicted the time has come for us to finally be free of this place. None of the other servants are actually paying attention to him but hey, at least he is trying. You yell at him. “Adrian we’re getting out of here cmon!” “Oh okay! Just one last thing. He takes what seems to be a paint brush and writes in big letters on her wall, “Aviana is a loser” “She’s dead.” “Gotcha” he fixes it. “Aviana is a DEAD loser.” Aughh.

You all start running for the exit there were a couple guards there but nothing you and your capable and now blingy crew could take care of. Truthfully there is a part of you that wants to make sure this whole slavery system doesn’t just revive here, but right now you are more concerned with getting the hell out of here.

Once you finally get away from that horrible place you finally have time to rest. But not before getting out of this forest. The last thing you want is to be picked up by those sirens again. You trek through the woods, but as this goes on you grow fatigued. Anna and Victoria are still reeling from their fight, and Adrian seems weighed down by his new accessories and tired quickly.

“Alright. This way please.” she motions to a path. It was incredibly safe and you made your way out of the forest in no time. “Wow, thanks. We have,to be honest almost everything we have run into in these forests has tried to kill us.” She giggles. “Well, I’m just doing my part to ensure that the forest as a whole doesn’t get a bad rep. Though… I would like to receive some kind of reward for what I have done.” “Yeah, of course. I assume you want one of the many jewels we have.” You motion for Adrian to hand her one of the jewels. “Aww, but my bling.” “Quiet you, Akitani slaps him lightly with her tail. “Oww, fine” and he hands one over. The moth girl giggles again. Thank you all, I wish you luck on wherever you are going, and if you ever want to come back we have a small village here in the woods.” She smiles and waves you off.

Now that you are finally out of immediate danger. You can set up camp for tonight. Your party seems more than ready for this to happen. Most of them are tired after the whole slave experience but it might be a good idea to talk with some people.

>What do we do in camp tonight?

Talk to Yuki. She probably needs some support. We should also talk to Anna and Victoria at the same time. See if we can't figure out what is wrong with those two. Also if we have time talk to Akitani. Leave Adrian for another time.
>>
>>343541

“Hey, guys we should talk.” There is a collective groan between Yuki, Victoria, Anna. They all know they need to talk but they sure don’t want to right now. “So Yuki what happened to you down there.” “They took notice of my healing abilities and decided to abuse it at the fighting arena. I healed nonstop for almost a week. It was terrible. At least I got to see Anna and Victoria all the time, that made it much more bearable.” That’s good. “I’m going to be okay,” she says weakly. “I just really need some rest.” That, you can understand. Yuki slinks off to dreamland on her own and you walk to Anna and Victoria.

“So, I am going to call that a tie.” “You what?!” I clearly won. Seems this hasn’t changed. “Guys, we just got out of that together, can we just sit down at talk normally.” “This is normal” they respond in sync. “Eeehh!” again, sync. “Come on now, you sit down next to them. There are somethings that need to be said.” “Only if she stops lying about not being friends.” “How is that a lie if you don’t know me?” “Then talk to us like I said back at the arena.” “Why should I have to do that?” You look at her. “*sigh* whatever.” She takes a deep breath. “I went to the same middle school as you all. I didn’t like home so I spent most of my time outside, and I don’t really wanna talk about it. There I guess… we’re friends..” “It’s at least a start.” You and Anna say. “I’m going to bed, our” they both say again almost simultaneously. They both pout off to bed after that. Those two sure are similar.

Adrian seemed fast asleep in his new comfy bed of precious jewels. Which leaves Akitani. She seems to be pretending to sleep again. “I’m not mad at you, you know.” “Really!” she springs up from her seemingly dead sleep. “Yes really, in fact, I am just glad you were okay. I didn’t see you for almost a week.” you hug her. “Well, we were both entrenched in our new duties.” “Speaking of which you took quite a liking to your sculpting I see, and where did you get the beret and glasses?” “She blushes. “I was told that those were part of the uniform. Plus I finally had time to return to my sculpting hobby. I got a little into it I suppose.” That’s adorable. She kisses you. "?" “Sorry for my forwardness but it has been a week, and you know…” she has a devious look on her face. “The others are all asleep. Which means…” she begins to coil around you.

Akitani continues but you try to pull away from her. She seems a tad sad, “What's wrong?” ‘I just… don’t know.” “About me?!” “No, about this.” you motion your head to the impending situation. “I have absolutely nothing against you Akitani, I just don’t know if I am ready for this.” “I see.” She looks sad but looks at you straight on. “Then… I’ll just wait until you are ready.” “Akitani...” She kisses you, “Aki” “?” You can call me Aki from now on” “Alright, Aki” She is jubilated. “I understand you are not ready, so just let me have this.” “?” She kisses you a bit forcefully, but it keeps going. Only for a minute though. After that she nuzzles against you already in her embrace, “Good night” she whispers and then falls asleep.

Despite being coiled by Aki it is remarkably comfortable. Probably due to the feathers that are mixed with her tail that add a small layer of fluff. It takes you a minute to get used to, but you were able to fall asleep quickly after that.

“My you have had quite a week, haven’t you.” You hear a voice. You open your eyes and you are once again in the room of darkness at a cafe table with Mother. “I must say having you toiling about for that woman made me a bit jealous. Maybe when you get back you can help around the house?” “You wish” you scoff her off. “So what did you come here for this time.” “Well, what has gotten into you with that attitude of yours. You are sounding like an upset boy.” “I am not a boy!” “Well, your change in appearance certainly doesn’t help that argument.” You look down, She is right! You were just starting to fill out only a month ago but now you're back to where you started, if not a little older. Therefore slightly more masculine than you were before. “But don’t worry darling, Mother will love you regardless, hehe” “What is even going on here!” “I told you many times, you’re changing, but now is an interesting time.” “What does that mean?” “Your friends have begun changing as well” “How?” Talk with them in the morning and find out. “I honestly just wanted to stop by and check up on you, things seem to be progressing nicely it seems. Is there anything you wanted to chat about? Like boys? or girls?” A sly smile, “Or Basilisks?”

“The boy? Adrian was his name, correct? Ahh, yes I remember him, quite a talkative one. While in my home, he kept talking about how he was going to form a group of individuals and break out of here. His heart was in the right place, but he didn’t seem to have the charisma to lead.” “So why did you let him out.” She takes a sip of wine. “He hit me.” “He what?!” “I must admit I was as shocked as you at first but was the first human child to physically stand up to me. I saw potential and excitement. Why he hit me I don’t know for sure, perhaps he wanted to convince the others to follow him by showing his ability to rebel.” She laughs. I must say it is rather amusing he was captured by the sirens and reacted the same. “

“Me again? Darling, I am flattered that you are so inquisitive of my past, but I have lived for hundreds of years and most of it quite boring. Perhaps we will discuss this again when an interesting topic comes up.” She takes a breath “As for the home front, not much has changed, the children here are trying their best but none have shown me anything of interest as of yet. One did try to dash me with poetry, though. It was quite cute.”

“The Accursed lands, so you are thinking about traveling there soon. All journeyers endeavour to go there at least. Most of them find only death. The land is barren, darkness and volcanoes surround. I hear there is a rumor that a village exists in a large valley within the mountains, but that was years ago.”

“But I am keeping you long enough, you should return to your friends and lover. Perhaps you will learn more there.”

When waking up you notice that you are no longer in Aki’s embrace and instead are on the journey laying by yourself. It seems Mother kept you a little long and the others have woken up and are milling about until you get up. You yawn and get up when you hear. “Do it again!” What could be going on?

You awaken to your friends breaking random objects. Victoria snaps a stick. But after a second the stick repairs itself. “How is that possible.” Anna seems excited. “How did you do that Yuki?” “I don’t know…” she responded, “I just wanted it to be fixed and it fixed itself.” “It’s probably due to all your time healing in the arena,” “That was healing people, this is like fixing, I don’t know. It feels different.” Adrian is beyond impressed. He looks at you “Just who are you, people.” Shrug. “We don’t know.” Either way, Yuki’s new power is a useful ability to have.

Aki slithers up behind you, “sorry about leaving you this morning, I didn’t want the others to think anything. You aren’t mad are you?” You know for the first time she asked that question you do feel mad. “A bit Aki, I guess this just means you are ashamed to be seen with me. I get it.” “Noooooo! You have it all wrong, I just didn’t want you to feel embarrassed or anything. Suddenly you do. “Aki you can’t just… oh no I used her nickname out loud in company, people are going to talk about this. I don’t want the group to become divided or awkward, but what do I possibly do?” Your face is burning red. “It’s okay, just calm down” You’re as cool as can be “What are you talking about Aki, I have never been calmer.” What is happening?

You shrug it off and try to get people on track. Alright everyone we need to get ready to head out. “Where are we going?” “Well, right now I think we should head to the lake near here. “A beach day!” Yuki jumps up. “After what we just went through a relaxing time on the beach is exactly what we need!” I am afraid we don’t have any cute swimsuits, though.

“Cute swimsuits?” Anna thinks for a second and then places her hands out. “Suddenly swimsuits for everyone appear. What. The. Hell. Is. Happening. “Anna, your new ability to materialize things is amazing, and a life saver.” I mean I just started doing it in the arena out of desperation, but this is feeling more abstract. Can I doing more like this?”

Now properly equipped you suppose it is off the lake. Thankfully you are rather close and there is a village near the outskirts of the lake.

“Let's stop at the village guys. We can get a room at the inn and then head to the beach.” You don’t have to worry about paying for much, as Adrian solved fiscal problems for you by looting. “Don’t worry ladies, I’ll pick up the tab.” He says trying to act suave. No one is impressed. The village itself seems quite dainty, although barren of men. The sirens must hit here often too. Hopefully, that stops soon, but you can’t control that.

It was only mid-morning in the village and you had all afternoon to the beach planned. While in town you hear some of the locals discuss the lack of fish being caught in the lake recently, and some people have sworn they saw the lake monster, like Nessy. Pftt, nonsense.

After getting situated you and the others head to the beach. The lake is immense. It was probably as big as the Eversong, and it had pristine blue water. “Time to try these on” “YES!” Adrian seems excited. Aki pulls him aside and whispers into his ear. He seems terrified now. Almost as soon as you were done changing you hear a noise in coming from the lake. Like a low moaning.

Wonder what it is, better be prepared, though, you hand glows a little darker and you walk toward the lake. You hear a weak voice “Please... help” Please help? You wade into the water when you see her. A close to beached mermaid bleeding from her stomach. Realistically it doesn’t look like to serious a wound but she seems to be acting as if she is dying.

We should help her out. “Yuki we got a wounded person over here.” “On it, oh, a mermaid.” The mermaid speaks weakly. “Are you the kind madam that will save me along with this gentleman?” Every time. “Just stay still we’ll get this fixed in no time.” In fact, the small wound took Yuki maybe 30 seconds to fix. “Madam! You have my sincere thanks for saving my life.” “It was only a small cut…” “Nonsense such cuts are life threatening to a delicate one such as I.” Sure. You but it. “Well, if that will be all you can head back to the lake so we can get back to the beach. The mermaid seems shocked. “Are none of you concerned over where I got such a terrible wound.” After all this dramatism, not really. “Well, I received it in flight from my oppressors the dreaded shark fold of the deep.” She seems to be telling you anyway. “There I was, caught desperately in their trap following a skirmish. My mother always told me not to go off and play soldier but my dreams of leading an army of battle would not rest within me…” She seems to be going on and on about something involving shark people and mermaids.

“I went onto the field, the enemy commander Malygos, was a hardened veteran but I was not afraid of a man such as he! I raised my saber high and charged his position. My men thought me a fool for rushing in headlong, but a leader must lead from the front I say. The battle lasted for almost 6 hours. The first was spent- *blah blah blah* and then *blah blah blah* Then Malygos landed a lucky strike and knocked me all the way out here.” “Fascinating.” “Indeed, but now where does this tale lead I wonder? Do you wish to learn more about the plight of the mermaids in the unending tyranny of the demon shark people? Would you be willing to hear our people out and even aid our people?”

Damn Heroism. Yes let us hear her people out. Though if she wants us to meet her people she better have some something to help us breathe underwater.

You sigh. Damn your sense of heroism. “Yes, we’ll hear you and your people out.” “NO! I will not let my precious time on the beach be spoiled by another misadventure of ours!” Yuki yells. “Yuki, I promise we will have time in the sun when we are done.” You turn to the mermaid. “Now if we are to go underwater we need some way to breathe.” “Of course!” “She waves her hand around. “There, now you should be able to breathe underwater.” “Should?” “I mean will.” Convincing. You put your head in the water and take a breath. Not choking yet. “Wonderful, now come along everyone the majesty of our kingdom awaits!” she says in the most royal voice she can muster. Your party collectively groans, except Adrian, he seems rather excited once again.

The swim down to the city took about an hour you would say. You had no idea that any lake could be this deep and colorful. “Now welcome our heroes to the graceful kingdom of Pacifica!” The city was gorgeous, the light of the waters reflected off of these coral and almost porcelain buildings in such a way that made the rest of the city shine even brighter. Mermaids and mermen were swimming about. “Awww” Adrian seems disappointed for some reason. she gives a bow. “We will need to speak to the queen right away about our combat against the shark menace. Come along now.” This is going a little too fast, and you just swam for an hour nonstop, but this could be important.

“Oh, I must have gotten caught up in all the excitement and while facing that life-threatening injury.” She puffs her chest out. “My name is Marina, but most just call me Mari.” You introduce yourselves accordingly. “As for the war…” she ponders for a minute. “It has been going on for as long as I remember, so that means at least 25 years.” Damn. That’s some war.

“No that is quite enough we should head to the queen now.” “Alright, just this way. ” you all make your way to a large building that almost resembles a castle made out of coral. Mari stops you for a second before entering. “I just wanted to warn you, the queen is usually quite nice, but she may be a little upset right now.” “Because of the continued war?” “Sure…”

You enter the main audience room of the Queen and you find that she looks remarkably like Mari, but far more elegant and refined. “MARINA AQUILA UMINA! I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO TO THAT BATTLE!” Oh no, she just got middle named. This must be serious. “BUT MOOOOOOOOOOOOM” she draws out like she is 10. “I just wanted to see the battlefield once in my life.” “And once is too many! As my heir you need to take your safety into account at all times. Heading into battle, against Malygos no less can only be described as foolhardy.” She points to a door. “Since you can’t look out for your own safety I will have to do it for you. Henceforth you are confined to your quarters for the next week!” “But mooooooooom” “No buts.” “but what am I going to do for a whole week, just the thought of being stuck in there, auhhh” She actually faints into you arms. Seconds later some servants come and carry her to her room.

“I do apologize for that scene and my daughters flare for drama. My name is Suitena Umina queen of this kingdom. To whom do I address and what are your reasons for coming. “You introduce yourselves. “We came here today because you daughter wishes us to help your people defeat the shark folk whom you have been at war with.” “She did? Why?” You have no idea. “Perhaps her dramatics got the best of her. This conflict does not involve you or your surface kind. I cannon ask you to join our cause simply because of a young girls whim. You may return to the surface if you wish. I will even have a guard accompany you.” A generous offer.

Damned Heroism. Yes we want to help. We are new to the Astral Plane and have been told by some powerful people that we need to go about proving ourselves. A noble cause such as ending an over 25 year old war would definitely help prove ourselves and allows us to make more allies.
>>
>>351962

“Wait, your majesty, we may be surfaces who just arrived because of your daughter but we truly wish to help.” She raises a brow. “We are new to this plane and currently on a journey to prove ourselves. A pilgrimage of sorts you might say. Helping end a 25-year long war would only help prove ourselves in this quest.” “Hoho, how interesting. Well if you truly wish to help you may see our grand general in the war council. I am told they are currently planning the next rebounding attack following our defeat by Malygos. Very well. You headed to the war room which turned out to also be within the palace.

Upon entering the room you see a grizzled merman hunched over a large table with a map on it. “Malygos will be confident after this last victory, he will likely send his son Kalos to the next battle in his stead as he thinks us wounded. If we can kill his son, it could send Malygos into a rage an-” He notices you. “Who might you children be, and what are you doing in our war meeting.” “Sir. Queen Umina has given us permission to join the war effort and told us to meet you as soon as we were able.” “Heh, she never cared for war, and leaves it all up to me, so what gives her the idea she can just add strangers to the equation when she likes?” “Sir. We are sorry for this intrusion and forwardness but we honestly do wish to help you and your people and free them from this tyranny.” “Hmm, that will need to be proved.” He looks at his map. Then gets a grin. “I know how you will prove it. Kill Kalos in the upcoming battle and I will trust you completely.” some soldiers walk up behind you. “Until then you will be under the watch of my men. You will have to pardon this but after many years of war we cannot be too careful when it comes to strangers such as you.” You can’t tell if he is sorry or not.

>Accept his offer

“If that is what it takes then we will accomplish the task, sir.” “Excellent. The battle will begin in two hours.” “two hours?” “Yes, the sooner we strike with our reserve force the faster we can catch the tired enemy army. My men will take you there when the time comes. As the newest members of the army, your group will be the Vanguard, understood.” “Uh.. yes sir.” “Good. we will deal a blow to those shark bastards yet.” You guess you are doing this. You have almost no time to prepare other than, “Guess we get to kill a shark today.” “Sweet.” Adrian is the only one who looks excited. “Don’t worry though everyone this is sure to get us even more prepared for whatever it is we have to do later.” You really wish Mother would just tell you.

The battlefield was on an open field? You don’t know exactly what to call it underwater. An open bed perhaps? The two armies squared up against each other. Both look overall exhausted. And you were in front of one of them. Something you noticed is that the enemy is lead by shark folk but their forces seem to be a combination of many species. Primarily shark folk, but there are also octopi, squid, crab, and other peoples. It is of no concern to you though as your only target is the enemy general Kalos.

Kalos looked like a young guy, seemed to be fairly competent in battle administration. The grand general behind you was barking out attack orders and as the people leading the charge, you head into battle.

>In this skirmish. 4 of you party members will be tied down fighting off enemies while only two can be able to reach Kalos. Decide how the party should be split and the general attack strategies for each.
>>
>>352207
You and Akitani should go for Kalos. When you are fighting Kalos have Akitani start to paralyze him while you defend her. Summon undead to help. We are not trying to actually kill Kalos. We just want to paralyze him and capture him.

Anna, Adrian, Victoria, and Yuki should fight off enemies for us. Have them act defensively and close together. This is not our element so we will not be fighting optimally, as such we should stay defensive.
>>
>>352240

You inform your group of your battle plan. “Aki you're with me” “Aki is it now” Yuki comments off-handedly. “Now isn’t the time!” Fighting underwater is incredibly different than on land. You not only have to worry about the movement, but also enemies being able to attack you from both above and below. As such the group forms a defensive perimeter around you and Akitani and hold off the enemy. Well everyone but Adrian, he just kinda stood there, trying and failing. You don’t want to kill Kalos, but paralyze and capture him.

“Aki you get on one side of him for an initial ambush, but just petrify him.” “Understood”. Your plan works out great at first but Kalos was no pushover in combat. He wielded a saber and yelled “Come at me, you mercenary aggressors. I will not disappoint my father by falling here!” He makes a couple swipes at you and gets you couple times. Thankfully you can regenerate that easily and are only buying time for Aki.

Kalos’s right arm turned to stone completely, but he merely grabbed the sword in his left hand. “It is going to take far more to stop me.” “Okay” You raise your hands and raise some skeletons from the bottom of the sea. Pirate skeletons. With their help you surround him along with Aki and continue the slow strangling of his position. Kalos tried to swim out, but Aki’s stone was weighing him down. Instead he dashed to you thrusting. For some reason you are able to dodge easily, despite the water. You swim around him and give him a quick blow to his left arm. Aki continues.

You manage to smack Kalos fairly hard in the back. Kalos’s left hand now turned to stone and his ability to fight was nullified. I mean he could bite you, but that wasn’t threatening as long as you didn’t get close until Aki finishes her work. The encirclement continues as Kalos becomes much less threatening with his tail now turning to stone.

Kalos’s fish half froze in place. He was barely able to move and sank slowly to the floor. Aki continues her gave until he is frozen in all but his face. You swim up to him. “Call for the retreat” “Why would I?!” “Because if you die it would accomplish the same effect, and I do not wish to kill you.” Kalos was surprised, and laughed “Haha, that is a laugh, just kill me then.” “You leave me no choice, Aki! Go all the way.” “Within seconds, Kalos’s body was wholly frozen.

You announce to the forces “Your general has been dispatched you have lost the battle this day and shall retreat or else lose your lives!” Usually, it takes you a second to find out if your talking had any effect but they start dropping their weapons and running as fast as they can. Some of them get cut down when turning to run, but that was to be expected. The grand general orders his men to hold, saying that a demoralized army returning home would be better for our cause.

The general congratulates you and your work this day and orders you back to the royal palace. He takes the frozen Kalos with him, once he confirms that the petrification would come undone over time. He probably wants to question him. Not to mention holding the son of a prominent enemy general hostage can be quite useful.
>>
>>352367

You meet back up with the rest of your group. Adrian claims he fought off 4 of them at once, and then Victoria tells you she actually did that. Anna was able to make a shield appear over her and block almost all damage to herself. And thanks to Yuki’s fixing and healing everyone came away fairly unscathed. "So everyone got out okay?" Victoria answered, "Yeah, fighting was annoying down here, but it felt easy considering the enemy didn't know how to fight properly." Either way you can't complain that everyone is alright.

You head back to the royal palace where the Grand General tells you to “You may rest for the evening as I will question Kalos and meet with you in the morning to discuss our next step.” The Queen was actually kind enough to offer you a place to stay for the night. “Thank you, your majesty, we will see to it that your graciousness will be met with well do respect.” before leaving though she tells you. “If my daughter tries anything, just tell her to stop it. Her personality has her long for days of excitement when she does not understand the weight of ruling a kingdom.” The queen lowers her head a bit. “Some day she will learn, but until then I fear for her safety.” “Understood, your majesty.

In any rate you have the royal palace as your home for the night. But what shall we do in our new luxurious place of rest?

We should talk to Adrian, he could prove incredibly useful as he survived what Mother put him through. You walk up to him “So… I heard you hit Mother.” “That I did! I had enough of her and I wanted to convey how annoyed I was at the situation.” You hear in your head then, “He almost cried after he realized what he did.” Adrian is still standing proud. “Impressive” you comment. “So what happened with all of that and after it?” He breathes deeply. “Well, I came here the same way I assume you did. A couple years now Mother and her crew attacked our town and took us.” “She gave a speech about people becoming more than they were and then locked us in a basement until we figured it out. All I knew was that I needed to get out of there and spent every day coming up with plans. Haha, all of which failed, since I couldn’t get people on board. After hitting her though she just let me go. Told me to survive out here until I was ready to go back home. Being by myself I decided to stick to villages. I roamed around for a while, running from every encounter as I had no combat experience, but I got to at least hear some interesting stories of monsters and magic. And watch some of it play out. I remember I saw a human riding a centaur into battle once in the Ash Lands. I wanted to approach but the battle took precedence. Eventually, one of the villages I was staying at was attacked by Aviana and her group and I was stuck with her ever since, until now of course. He turns to you “How about you?”

You fill him in on everything that happened until this point. During your tale, he expresses shock a number of times. The fight with the scorpion queen, meeting Akitani, the time travel, the Arachne. He puts his hands on his legs “Wow, look at you a group of kids three years younger than me and you managed to do so much more in only a couple months than I have done in three years. He digs into his pants and is shaking. He stops immediately after a couple seconds, “Oh, well I suppose I am with you guys for now then!” he flashes a thumbs up and a smile. “Never fear for I shall personally ensure your group's safety.” You’re sure he will.
>>
>>352455

Now might be a good time to talk to Mother about this situation. “Mother, what do you know about the mermaids of lake Biwa, their queen Umina and their war with the Sharkfolk.” “Hmmm, I’m afraid I do not know much as I have almost never interacted with them, darling.” Back when I first meet the people of lake Biwa it seemed rather peaceful. A lot can change in hundreds of years, however. I do not know about this current Queen but she seems to be a fine woman, but as a ruler, the jury is out. I do find Mira quite endearing, though, her will for adventure and wanting to explore and learn reminded me a lot of myself at her age.” she laughs softly to herself and then sighs. Besides that there is not much I can tell you, darling. I’m sorry, but even Mother doesn’t know everything” Tell me about it.

The morning came, and your meeting with the Grand General was the top priority. “We learned from Kalos that his father is stationed in this small village here only an hour away from the capital of their kingdom. If this operation works we will have the perfect staging point for an assault.” He scoffs, though, “The only problem is that this village is deep within enemy lines which means to get to him quickly we need to either have a distraction force deployed on the front lines and circumvent the lake to strike him. Otherwise, we will have to march slowly up and face him in battle.” The general looks at you. “I promised I would trust you, what do you think about the situation?

Go with the Surprise attack. Marching slowly will give him time to flee.
>>
>>352466

“We should go for the surprise attack. This type of opportunity needs to be taken, even if it does mean a troublesome journey behind enemy lines. In fact, my team and I with a small dispatch of soldiers could likely do this ourselves while you fight on the front lines.” he jumps in, “Doing so would mean the main enemy force would be facing us leaving the general with a light guard. Indeed this could work young one, but it will be undoubtedly dangerous which is why I am sending you with a small detachment of only 10 scout soldiers. They will only be there to assist, you will be responsible for the direction of the mission, however.” Sounds reasonable. “You should get packed and ready for the trek to the village it will likely take you at least almost a day to reach.

You and your party do so. While preparing you your rooms though something swims up behind you and whispers softly. “Are you going somewhere.” you turn quickly and almost jump back. It’s Mari. “Yes, Mari we are going on a mission to deal with Malygos.” “Really?! You simply must take me with you. I need to repay him for that almost mortal wound I received the other day. Just thinking about it makes me grow dizzy and nauseous.” she places her backhand against her forehead. “Ohh, how sad it would be, that a young maiden never received proper revenge”

She has made her point.

She said the Revenge, we must take her. Besides having the princess slay such a prestigious general would certainly do good for her image. We will also be heavily protecting her all the way.
>>
>>352486

“Sure, you can come.” “Marvelous!” She seems quite giddy. She means well enough, and having some sense of combat, and a relation to the country's forces couldn’t be bad for a ruler to be. You feel a little bad for Queen Umina as she desperately doesn't want her daughter to go out to war, but you will be sure to guard her and keep her close at all times. We’ll need a disguise, though.

You approach the Grand General. “Sir. We have need of some cloaks for the travel, in case people may recognize us from the previous skirmish.” “Approved, you likely would be fine without, but taking extra precautions never hurt in war times.” Now Mari can come with you undercover, but this operation would take some time, and the Queen will likely realize that she is missing after a short time. You’ll just have to be ready to face her wrath upon return. But you are making sure that nothing happens to Mari along the way.

Once you are all ready to head for the exit of the city where the Grand General is addressing the scout force to be sent with you. “Now men, this may be one of the most pivotal missions in this war. If we are to defeat the shark scum at last, we need to dispatch their greatest general Malygos. You are all to do your duties and ensure that Malygos is swiftly dealt with. This long war has droned on far too much. The people yearn for peace. This makes failure practically nontolerable!” He notices you. “These ones and their group have recently come to us but have already proved their loyalty in their dealings with Malygos’s son Kalos. I trust you will keep them in sufficient care.” The men all straighten themselves. "Yes sir!" He salutes his men. “Goodspeed all of you!” with that you begin your surprise attack. But before you left The general gave you a small bubble to carry with you. “It is a messaging device over long distances, simply speak your words into the bubble and they will be transferred to me. Use this if you are in trouble or to update me.”

The journey would take approximately a day and you didn’t want to lose, day- err, sealight. The soldiers kept to themselves and scouted as much as you would expect for such an important mission. You were in good, safe company at least.

Your journey goes off without too much trouble. Your friends keep company as they always have and Mari is absolutely thrilled about the whole experience. “I have never been this far out from the kingdom before, well besides the other day when I flew to the beach. But this is amazing!” nothing really is happening. Sometimes you see some other sea folk in the distance, but you don’t bother them and they don’t bother you.

About halfway to the village, you do spot a small contingent of shark folk soldiers. Again they seem comprised of multiple species. You have both taken notice of each other. Your scout friends have been cautious from the beginning and managed to stay out of sight, but they seem to be walking over to your location.

Try to talk to them

>>355503

Talking can’t hurt. “Hello there!” you wave to the group approaching you. One of the crab folk among the group states “They ain’t the murmaiderers, just surfacers, let’s let them be.” “Murmaiderers?!” Mari yells from under her cloak. “?” You quickly calm Mari. “please excuse her, she has had a terrible experience with the mermaid people.” *Mhmm* *Mhhmm* Mari is shaking as you struggle to keep her quiet and hold her still. The shark leader of the group says, “Well she should get in line, and get that checked out. The way things are going we’re going to have to deal with a lot more of those assholes, but who knows. Maybe Maylos will be able to do something.” The shark woman looks you over a second. Well, I don’t see anything concerning, as long as you do not cause trouble here you are free to explore. If your friend is any indication you would want to leave here as soon as possible, however.” “Thank you for the advice, good luck in the fight out there.” You wave them off.

Mari is now free from your grasp. “I will not allow myself or my people to be insulted in such a way! Calling us murmaiderers, I say!” she pouts off. Victoria speaks up. “If that is all it takes to offend you, you need to prepare yourself for when you are in charge. Not to mention the rest of this trip will likely trigger you.” Mari speaks up. “They dark companion is correct.” “Dark companion?!” Mari ignores her “I need to resolve myself for when I come into power, and this journey will prepare me. So bring it on world! I am ready for your insults!” Your glad she is so into this, but perhaps her enthusiasm is a little much.

Your journey continues and within no time you come up to the village where Malygos is said to be, but it is dark by now.

Attack tonight
>>
>>355608

We should make our move as soon as possible. Attack under the guise of night would be best anyways. “Awwww” Mari groans. Your friends are reasonably tired from the march but you explain this opportunity is worth taking given the weight of the situation.

You move into the village. There are guards stationed outside and they allow you and your party in without much trouble. But. One of the guards pointed at Mari “Hey your friend there. Take off that hood.” Mari complies, not fully understanding the problem. The guards are instantly set on edge and raise their weapons. “What is one of them doing with you?!” It was expected but you need to decide quickly what to do.

Say that we are taking her in as a prisoner.
>>

"As a prisoner you say? where are you taking her then and under whose authority do you make this arrest?"
>>
>>355694
Taking her further into this village. Maylos told us.

"Malygos you say? Are you part of his special detachment then? If so present to us your badges." He holds out his hand.
>>
>>355718
I give him my badge. By badge I mean death touch. I kill him. Infiltration has stopped we kill now.
>>
>>355732

“Yeah I got a badge right here, you ball up your hand which is now slightly growing black and purple and place it in the guards open palm. You unclench your first and his arm falls off. “AHHHHH!” a nearby guards run over to inspect the screaming man. It seems your scout friends were prepared for this and pounced from the guards at all angles. “Somone! Sound the alarm!” Oh no if he sounds the alarm this would make killing Malygos exponentially more difficult.

Roll a d20+2 to see if you manage to defeat the guards in time to prevent an alarm.

Your new friends and old friends try to stop the guards by it wasn’t meant to be soon. An alarm rang throughout the village and many more guards sprung into action. There was at least 30 of them lined up to face you. At the back of the force, you hear. “Now what could all this racket be this late.” There stood an old shark folk man. He had a scar on the left side of his face and was staying largely still. “I suppose you came for my while the armies are distracted on the front line?” Malygos taunted “A clever strategy for sure. If I were to fall his majesty would sure be next. But I am afraid I prepared for that as you can see.” At a second glance, you can see that the enemy outnumber you 3:1. Not to mention that the soldiers sent with you were scouts, not combat specialists. “Now then, what will it be tonight ladies and gentleman. Will you still try to kill me, or will I just get to kill you here?”

“Malygos,” you call out. “I have come here today to challenge you to a duel for the honor of a young girl you have disgraced.” “Yeah! I am but a laughing stock to my home country now, having lost to the devil Malygos without losing my own life. The shame it brought me the last two days have been immeasurable.” she starts crying a bit. Mari then points to him. “Which is why I have come here to make you pay for your insult to my person!” Who knew her dramaticism could come in handy like this.

Indeed it is so Malygos, as for the honor of the maiden in question I challenge you!” He laughs “Hahahaha, you were that young girl at the battle two days ago correct? He points to Mari. “Lass, you merely fighting where you had not place, what I did was a kindness, not an insult. But your people have never be known for understanding that I suppose." He straightens himself and swims forward. I am a leader of men, and I lead by example.” He brandishes his blade and steps forth. “Come then, let us settles this matter. Once I have killed you I will see to it that all those Murmaiderers burn for what they did!”

I assume it is the MC vs Malygos so stay on the defensive and judge his abilities. Once we have we should change our strategy.
>>
>>356093
I mean it can be someone else vs Malygos if you want. MC is the default though

You don’t know what he may be capable of so for now we should take a defensive stance. “So you are content to defend as the aggressors? How ironic” Malygos says while charging. For an old shark, he is quite nimble able to swim around you easily. Thankfully you have gotten used to the water pressure and are able to move similarly to how you did on the surface. He cuts you across your arms, only prodding you at the moment. Your regeneration will take care of that easily.

As this semi-stand off continues, you start to get a sense of what he is capable of at the moment. It seems he favors striking the right, withdrawing feinting left and then attack right again. Also, he appears to have quite a bit of strength but is not fully throwing it with his attacks yet. He also appears to be increasing in speed over time.
>>
>>356156
Ok. Change tactics. He has strength in reserve and is building up speed so we want to end this quick. Block his right attack then exploit his left feint to trip him up. Then go on the offensive. Dropping out of a defensive stance and becoming much more aggressive. Also see if we can't start to work in magic with our attacks, unless that is considered to be dishonourable.

He has reserve strength and he is getting faster which means we should end this as quickly as possible. If he wanted to fight you’ll fight all out. You prepare your death touch in your hand and bided your time. You go to block his standard right attack. You do so, but he seems to have expected that. He goes for his feint and you trip him up and reach for a death touch. You barely scrape him as it seems he accelerated immensely and our of your grasp. There was also a huge gash in your side. “What?!” Malygos is in front of you rather smug. “You’re not the only one with magic you know.” He starts swimming around you, but at incredible speeds. He wasn’t swimming faster and faster… he was accelerating the water currents around him.

You are significantly more open in your offensive stance, and soon more and more gashes appear on your body. He didn’t try to go for mortal injuries, though. “Malygos stopped once you fell to your knee which was now cut deep. “Are you suffering? Tell me, how did it feel to torture my son?!” You take slow breaths to calm down and assess the situation. Your regenerative abilities we keeping you operational, but they weren’t advanced enough to heal you this quickly.

Malygos begins accelerating all around you once again waiting for the right time to take your life.

Try to trip him up with lies about how weak and pathetic his son was. You couldn't even torture him he just killed himself in fear. Along with this mental attack summon some skeleton to help you and drop into a defensive stance. We need to focus on dodging this critical blow and providing a counter.
