You are Kailey Baker, or Kiwi, of the Adverine Metropolitan Police Department with your job being a Narcotics Detective. Your best friend and colleague, Danielle Keats, otherwise known as Danni, is missing in action after today's events, whatever they were before you woke up at the park.

Previously, you had started off memoryless in the middle of the park, a mystery on its own, but regained them with the help of Danni's photo's on her phone but a significant lack of Danni concern's you when the announcement of an "incident" over the station intercom gives way to anything in your mind.

As you sprint to where the incident was supposed to have happened, hoping to every god above that Danni isn't hurt, you come to the end of the main platforms where people had been moving away.

Once there, you get the best sight of your life- Danni is sitting on the edge of the platform, holding her arm in pain when she looks over to see you. Her face goes from in pain to absolute joy.

"Kiwi! You're okay! Where were you!?"

"Uh... the park? You okay Danni?"

"Fine, just got knocked down when I tried to stop a suspect. He had a baton and knocked me aside before running onto the tracks and disappeared a distance away and left us a parting gift." she points to the middle of the tracks where a dead male human lay, two bullet holes in him.

"Oh. That ain't good... say... you haven't seen my... everything now did you?"

"What'd you lose?"

"Oh just about everything: my badge, my wallet, my GUN."

"That is not good." she pauses to think before continuing. "The guy who shot this man had a gun like yours... maybe he had it. If you want to chase him, take mine." she hands you her gun, a Glock 21 loaded with 13+1. "Also, I hope you remember your badge number at least."

"Of course I do... I'll be seeing you later Danni." you say before running down the tracks, after whoever shot that guy.

Current Inventory:

Glock 21 - 13+1 bullets
Phone

Stats: TBD
Class: TBD

Where will you search for the killer first? Along the tracks are:

>A clothing store
>An apartment block

I should note that your race is a Catfolk (or Khajiit, whichever you prefer) and Danni is a goblin.

You sprint down the tracks until you get to the apartment building. Or really buildings but the one in front of you is the only one that has no doorman and an unlocked entrance and naturally a great place to break in and hide. There is an elevator to take you to the other 4 floors above, a stairwell up and a separate going down to the basement and, from knowing tall buildings well, roof access on the fifth floor.

This guy could be on any of them!

Which floor do you wish to search first?

You check the basement first and...

...its dark as heck down here. Even with night vision for a cat being like you, its quite dark but you do see your immediate surroundings well. The back area is completely enshrouded, hiding whatever may be there. You hold onto the gun given to you by Danni, alert that anything can happen.

Roll 1d20 for perception- is someone down here as well?

(19, Major Success) and almost a crit as well... so close.

You hear something rustling in the back where its darkest and you walk forward, completely alert, hand on holster and ready to draw, knowing full well this could end badly if you're not careful.

When you get to where you think the sound was coming from you only have seconds to react as you hear someone trying to strike you down with a pipe!

What will you do?!

(26, Average Success)

You grab the pipe just in time, stopping it from knocking you out of commission. You see a young man holding it but other than his figure, you can't see much else despite the night vision you have. It's clear he meant to knock you out and that's enough to fight back.

How will attack?

You kick him right in the soft spot and he falls to the ground in pain. When he does, you hear something clatter to the ground, a gun! It fires a round off, hitting the wall. Clearly the safety wasn't on; he was definitely ready to shoot you.

Now that he's "disabled", you can see that he's not actually human as you first guessed (somewhat) but is actually a dark elf- otherwise known in the force as the "assholes of elvenkind", and though this may be stereotype, this guy definitely plays to it pretty well.

What will you do with him? You have no handcuffs so arresting him is out but you do have your phone so you call for back-up. But as they come, should you question him or knock his silly butt out so he can't get away again?

It takes a few minutes considering he's in a massive amount of pain before he responds.

"Because."

"That's not an answer."

"I have no need to give you one."

"Make this easy on yourself. I have the legal authority to beat you silly."

"Oh yeah... you cops are just like the guards of hundreds of years ago- all of you did what you wanted with no repercussion."

"Well congratulations old-timer- not much has changed. When I don't have to wrestle an Orc or grapple with an Ettin, then I'll go easy on criminals. For now however... I think you should answer the question."

"Fine.. if it keeps you from kicking me... I was ordered to kill you."

You ask him who sent him... and why you.

He responds by going on a rant for about five minutes on how corporations control everything and that he had no choice... blah blah blah... you've heard this spiel at least ten times by now.

Unlike all the other times, at the end of his rant, he states that one corporation, AIDI or Adverine Insurance and Development Inc. and an organization named Drakuar sent him because... he's got nothing to lose really.

You reiterate the why me part once again and he states that they just told him to kill you and your partner Danni but the first attempt failed, the first attempt on Danni killed someone else and his second attempt on you ended with his balls being popped basically.

You only have a minute or so left before back-up arrives and that means one more question.

>What do you know about AIDI?
>What do you know about Drakuar
>Do you know anyone specifically in either organization who sent you?

You ask him if he knows anyone specifically in either organization, besides public figure obviously.

He replies with a whimper before stating that he got his orders through the mail along with a package- the only name on the letter was a "R.T". In the package however...

He pauses before sobbing a bit more- seeming to have remembered something.

You're confused, what did AIDI and Drakuar send this guy? You ask but get no response.

Before you could continue, you hear someone calling out from behind. You turn to see that your cavalry has arrived- a little out of jurisdiction but here at least.

They obviously stop you first, you have no badge but once you give them its number and your position, they let you off.
They handcuff him and search him to find your badge and keys but not your wallet.

Well shit. That's not coming back anytime soon. Besides that, the officers are ready to take this guy back to the precinct.

What will you do now?

And I am back! After trying to draw over a period of 2 hours...

>>345547
You walk back to the train station to return Danni's gun, which she may appreciate considering it's her gun of course.

As you walk back, you reflect on how you fought that dark elf, opting to stop his attack and go for a low blow instead of shooting. You think about your fighting style... was this how you fought?

It seems not all your memories came back, like your fighting style.

Based on your choices during the encounter and your race, these classes are available (as the quest progresses, opportunities will be available to change class):

- Fighter
- Rogue
- Ranger

=---=---=
When you get to the station, now empty inside, you walk to the end of the platforms where there was a heavy police presence. Standing on the tracks, overseeing the recovery of the body was Danni- who was not in a formal uniform at the moment but really, you two aren't on the clock at the moment, which explains your street clothes.

You call to her and hold out her gun, saying you have yours back, and your badge as well. And your keys, but not your wallet sadly.

As you give her the gun, she hushes everyone around when you hear. The distinct noise of...

...a train horn? Weren't all trains on the line stopped? It most likely is a passenger train but it should not be coming, especially with modern train system able to stop a train automatically...

...which means this one is sabotaged and heading straight for you and Danni! Oh crap!

You have chosen Rogue. Stats and skills and such will come later when Kiwi is not in danger.

(12, Minor Success)

You manage to grab Danni and pull you and her to the other track in the nick of time, just as the train rushes past but not without injuring yourself on the rail. You've managed to sprain your left ankle in the jump but it'll heal in time- a Keet (Forget calling her Cat Folk or Khajiit, might as well make something up, different worlds, different names.) like you can heal easily.

Danni is on the ground unconscious for some reason, you hobble over to her and wake her up- or at least try to but it seems your landing bonked her head straight into the rail and seems to have given her a concussion. Looks like a trip to the hospital is needed for the both of you. You should leave the runaway train to the transit police; it's their problem, not yours.

On the way in a patrol car, you have time to search up something on your phone. Since your talk with the dark elf, the two organizations seem the best choices to look up.

Which will you search for?

>AIDI
>Drakuar

I can't draw people sitting for anything.
>>
>>349761
>AIDI
>>
>>349761
>AIDI
>>
>>349867
>>349792

You look up AIDI on your phone as you head to the hospital.

AIDI or Adverine Insurance and Development Inc. as said before, is the largest insurance company in the country, insuring everything from cars, to lives to banks and other companies. Not only that, they also have a large investment branch, hence the "Development" in the name. They invest in ventures, reality, and other stuff. Basically, they're you're average investment firm combined with an insurance agency- which makes them wanting to kill you all the weirder. What have you must of found that makes the higher-ups in a large corporation scared of you?

AIDI has offices everywhere, their HQ being in Adverine obviously, and lobbies in the government all the time. Again, things everyone knows but can't really change. So what does this all have to do with a Narcotics Detective like you? Is the CEO snorting dust or something?

Lastly are the conspiracy theories on AIDI- demonic cults, NWO, blood sacrifices, dragons; the whole nine yards on wacky things one can find on the Internet. But... the fact that the dark elf clearly was influenced by AIDI and some group named Drakuar, you suspect some shady stuff going on but that means crazier things too. Being affiliated by a group named Drakuar, which sounds Draconic, makes you wonder if it all involves dragons- hell, maybe Tiamat? Of course, if they summon Tiamat, you're sure some Sidewinders are a good welcome, they always are.

You soon arrive at the hospital, breaking your train of thought. Hobbling in, they take you to a room- separating you from Danni. Before long, a doctor arrives to preform a check-up to measure if your.. everything, is okay- besides the sprained ankle.

Time to stat up: 15 points to allocated. Every level up gives 5 points to be allocated.

Kiwi - Level 3

Aim -
Charisma -
Agility -
Endurance -
Strength -
Intelligence -

For being a Keet, you have these racial bonuses: +1 Agility, +2 Intelligence, -2 Strength.

(We're really getting into the RPG micromanaging now) Once this is all done, I'll be putting it on pastebin to be refereed to.
>>
>>350260
>Aim - 2
>Charisma - 3
>Agility - 5
>Endurance - 2
>Strength - 2
>Intelligence - 1
Super speedy cat girl.
>>
>>350345
Since this is an important decision, I'll let others choose until 8PM EST.

I don't why I think like this but I think my icon puts people off- should probably get an actual one instead of badly drawn line-art
>>
>>350630
Okay, no one made any further word so...

>>350345
Kailey's stats, including racial bonus, are:

Aim - 2
Charisma - 3
Agility - 6
Endurance - 2
Strength - 0
Intelligence - 3

This is obviously going to change every level but its a start. Endurance modifier of 2 adds 4 HP to her current HP which is now 38.

---
Once the check-up was complete, the doctor determined that the sprain was moderate and needed some rest, ice and gave a splint for you to use. You find out that Danni will be interned at the hospital until she wakes up to make sure she doesn't have any damage to her head from the hit. Same for you as well.

It seems that you're spending the night at a hospital. Nothing can go wrong here, hopefully.

Hopefully.

Chapter 2 End

That's it for this chapter. Again short but just some exposition and stat distro. more than anything. Hopefully, next chapter is longer and has more action.

See you all next chapter/thread.
