Hello and welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest! Today, we'll be continuing our adventure with the new generation of Lin Kuei: Tundra, Frost, and Vapor.

Tundra: Zian, the son of the legendary warrior and Earthrealm defender, Kuai Liang, AKA Sub-Zero. A well meaning, if somewhat sheltered and naive, young warrior. He has been sent on a quest to Outworld, but this was interrupted by the untimely invasion of Onaga.

Frost: An orphan taken in by Sub-Zero as an apprentice nearly fifteen years ago, she was frozen solid when she attempted to take the Dragon Medallion for herself. Now awake once more, she has been given a second chance by the Grandmaster to redeem herself.

Vapor: Born of the union between the enenra known as Tomas Vrbada, AKA Smoke, and the edenian Jade, Andela (Codename Vapor) is a shy girl who has recently become more outgoing due to her time as a crewmember on the realm-hopping nethership, the Dragon Wing.

However, at the end of our last entry, our three heroes were separated by the terrible storm that protects the lands of the ancient cryomancers. Vapor was carried away by the blasting winds shortly before some beast of the snow forced Tundra and Frost apart. This left Tundra on his own, whereupon he was rescued by an ice giantess and brought to her cave. Upon waking up, she managed to communicate only slightly with him and brought him through the storm to a floating mountain of ice.

Our story begins with Tundra having climbed the mountain and discovering a city forged of ice, which is perhaps the last remnants of the ancient cryomancer civilization. As he presses onwards, thoughts about his friends and their condition worry him terribly...

Before you lies an incredible sight: a city made entirely of ice. The sky here is bright, even though there is a thick white mist that surrounds the city. Against the white of the fog, the ice-blue towers, spires and buildings stand out, allowing you to see the intricate details of them even from the edge of the upside-down ice mountain you are standing atop. You breathe heavily as thousands of thoughts assault your mind, wondering about what you might encounter, what it took to get here, but most importantly: that you are now alone.

Frost and Vapor are both gone, and possibly dead. You know they are both strong and capable fighters and members of the Lin Kuei, but you can't help but worry. They are your friends, your teammates, they are part of your life. But they are not here, and you are, even though they should be. They set out on this journey with you, and should be here to witness this sight with you.

The magnificent, yet quiet and seemingly abandonned, city lies before you, waiting to be explored. You close your eyes and take a deep breath as you ponder what you should do next.

The city is large, and exploring it could take some time. Perhaps it would be best to get an idea of just how large it is, and since this glacier-like floating structure can't logically go on forever, it must be round, or at least round-like, which means you can walk around it. And while you're doing so, perhaps you can signal to the others and hope they can see you.

Taking out the magical ice-crystal that you found in the ship, you hold it aloft. Ever since you and the ice giant both used your powers on it, the glow is noticable for some distance. It's the best thing you have for a signal, outside of your own powers---but perhaps it would be best to converse energy for now.

You begin walking around the city, staying close to the edge. As you walk, you observe the buildings and the many structures, noting their differences in size, shape and other small details. No two are uniform, aside from the spires that rise above the frozen rooftops, which leads you to believe they were all built by different individuals with a common goal. The more you look, the less you think that one single architect was behind all of this; could it be that each cryomancer created their own home for their families?

Until you move in and search for more clues, you won't know, but after about a half-hour of walking around, you suddenly hear something. You pause, thinking that it just may be the wind down below the spire, but then you hear it again: shouting, faraway yet clear.

You run to the edge and carefully look down, and your heart begins to pound in your chest as your blood runs quickly when you behold Andela! Vapor is struggling to climb up the side of the mountain, as she cannot make handholds like you could out of the ice. She also appears weak, barely able to hold her smokey form together. She shouts again for help.

"Andela!" you shout from above, getting her attention.

"Zian!" she replies with a weak, but glad, cry. "I... I can't climb!"

You begin to look around for anything, when you remember that Wolf's tribe gave you some rope. Of course, you could climb down to her...

>A) Climb down to Vapor

Taking off your backpack, you quickly rifle around inside of it for the coil of rope you were provided with and waste little time in lowering it down to her. Tensing your arms once it reaches her position, you dig your feet into the ice and, with a little cryomancy, ensure that they will not budge.

When you feel her grab onto the rope, you begin pulling her up. She is surprisingly light, but that may not be a good thing, given her nature. After a few minutes, you are within grabbing range of her and reach down with your hand.

She takes your hand, and the texture of her skin feels strange---only semi-solid. You grit your teeth and gently pull her up onto the solid ground, where she collapses alongside you.

Her form is wispy and weak, constantly bleeding smoke and trying to bring it back within herself. As you try to help her back up, she collapses through your arms and reforms back on the ground.

"It took everything... just to hold onto the rope..." she gasps.

You kneel down and help turn her over. "What happened?"

"I was... scattered," she says. "The wind carried parts of me all over, I barely had enough to... to survive. Blown onto the side of... this."

"What can I do?" you ask, greatly concerned but not well-versed in her unique physiology.

"I need time..." she says. "It's like... after donating blood? You're woozy and you need... need time. Same..." Her voice trails off as her eyes flutter shut. You gently hold onto her shoulder as she breathes.

"It's alright," you nod. "You're out of the storm now."

"Where...?" she begins.

"We're here, the city of the cryomancers, just like we came to find."

"Oh... Oh, good," she says, a bit relieved. "Do they have any houses?"

"A lot," you say, looking around. "Come on. Let's get you inside."

Well, she's still down there, possibly looking for Frost, or she's returned to her cave.

>>353265
>>353297

Picking her up as delicately as you can, you carry her towards the nearest building. You find the entrance, a door of white, frosted-over ice, and kick it open. Surprisingly, the ice gives way and the doors slide open, allowing you access to the cool interior.

Everything, from the walls to the chairs to the furniture, is made of ice. Even the decorations.

'I suppose it would be hard to find other raw materials in abundance up here,' you think to yourself about the prevalence of the ice scultures.

Surprisingly, or perhaps not, the beds are not made out of ice. Well, their bases are, but animal pelts, skins and furs make up the blankets. You set Vapor on them to allow her to wrap herself up and warm up a bit. The furs are old and hard, but warm up quickly enough after being in contact with her warm, wispy body.

After she gets a few extra layers on, she looks up. "What are you going to do now?"

After checking to ensure the doors are closed so as not to let any stay winds inside while she is resting, you return to the bed chamber and sit by her side. "I'm glad I found you," you tell her. "I can't tell you how worried I was."

"I've never been torn apart like that before," she shivers. "It wasn't very fun."

"What was it like?"

"I'd... rather not," she says, shying away at describing it.

"I understand. You didn't see Frost at all, did you?"

"She's not with you?"

You shake your head. "Something separated us... I don't know what it was, all I saw was something moving under the snow. Then I was rescued by a giant woman."

Vapor stops shivering for a moment. "A giant? A giant woman? Like, a giant and a woman?"

"Yes," you say with a smile and a shrug. "She took me back to her cave, undressed me and---"

"Hang on, where is this going?" she asks, one brow raised way up.

"---and fed me soup before trying to talk to me. She's a cryomancer, or at least has some in her blood. She was blue, had blonde hair."

"She wasn't naked too, was she?" she teases.

"No! She didn't even speak english. Which, I guess makes sense, neither did Wolf's tribe. Except for that old wise woman..." You wave a hand and get back on topic. "Anyway, she helped me realize what that crystal is. We could have used it to get through the storm unscathed."

"THAT would have been nice to know," she sighs.

"Then, she took me to the base of this floating ice mountain and helped me up. I haven't seen her since."

"Me, I just ended up on the side of it. Thank the Elder Gods that I just blew up onto the side. If I had been in that storm much longer..." she trails off again, shuddering at the thought. "So, you haven't seen Frost at all?"

"No. She may still be down there."

"Are we going to go look for her?"

"YOU are going to stay here until you feel better," you tell her. "Me... I'll figure it out."

You open your pack and take out some food and water, giving them to her and making sure she drinks and eats. As a non-cryomancer, she's still at a disadvantage in this environment, and given her recent experience in the storm, she's terribly weakened as it is.

You sit back as she grows warm until she begins to close her eyes and lay back on the animal skins.

After ensuring that Vapor is snug and safe, you give her a warm hug and a kiss on the forehead. To have lost her would have been like losing a sister---you've known her longer than you can remember, even if she wasn't visible for most of your childhood. She barely even said a word to you before your eleventh birthday.

After leaving, you close the doors and take a moment to apply a little extra fortification to them to ensure they do not open. You don't know who else may be here---the city seems abandonned, but can one ever be too safe?

From here, you approach the edge again and look back down into the maelstrom of the snowstorm that swirls about the base of the floating ice mountain. Deciding that since you have found Andela, you should find Frost as well. Perhaps that giantess discovered her and brought her back to her cave. Perhaps she should come along as well when you return?

You begin scaling down, making a path for yourself as you do. Going back down is a tricky affair, especially once you hit the storm again. Thankfully, the blue ice crystal makes this easier, as the storm blows around you, kept at bay by the magical bubble it produces. With the crystal shielding your descent, you focus on creating hand and footholds so as to make the return journey simpler.

When you reach the bottom, you leap off into the snow. You land and look around, finding no tracks. They vanish quickly in this storm, it seems. Holding the crystal high like a beacon, you think about what the next best move should be.

>>

Knowing that you'll need to find your way back, and that it would be best to leave a trail for anyone else, you raise your hand and begin to walk, using your cryomancy to create a trail of elevated blue ice. Though it is quick to be covered in snow, the raised and solid nature of the short wall allows it to be easily found and followed.

You begin to search for the giantess' cave.

As you walk along, protected from the storm and raising your wall of ice, you hear a noise out in the distance, a kind of low rumbling. You pause for a moment and look around, but the howling of the storm makes you think that nothing was there.

You resume walking after trying to see anything in the flurry and failing. After another few yards, however, you hear it again, louder and more distinct, in the background of the storm.

Turning around, you begin to see something moving in the grey distance. A mound of snow rising and then falling. Your eyes widen as you realize that this, whatever it is, is what separated you and Frost!

Before you can make out what it may be, it turns in your direction! Moving fast and under the snow, the large creature makes a line right for you, pushing aside the snow in its path! You brace yourself and dive to the side as the massive body rushes past, smashing part of your wall.

Thanks to the crystal, you catch a brief glimpse of its long, white body. It's some kind of snake or worm, or something else of a similar nature, and it's turning around for a second pass, rumbling deep under the snow! The mound that represents its head is coming right for you!

Placing your hands at your feet, you shoot ice straight down, creating a crude, yet effective, pillar of ice that propels you upward and out of its reach. The creature avoids the pillar, moving around it and turning.

As it slides away, you get to see the length of it from your elevated position atop the pillar. It is longer than this pillar, much longer.

Recognizing that you have gone higher, the creature rises from the snow. You watch it as its head lifts higher, and higher, and higher even than your pillar, before turning to look at you.

The massive worm-like monstrocity opens its segmented mouth, framed by a pair of large mandables, and exhales steam. Its internal temperature must be great, but its exterior white plates are cold as ice.

The worm looks upon you and closes in!

>>353871

Bringing up your hands, you try to create a javelin of ice and hurl it towards the worm, but you miss and the ice bounces off its hide. The worm crashes its head into your pillar and smashes it to pieces, throwing you into the snowbank below amongst the shards. The worm rears its head back, not even stunned by the ramming action, and looks upon you and opens its mouth wide, preparing to slam down and eat you whole!

"CHEW ON THIS!" you shout, throwing up both hands and blasting a ray of cryonic energy into its face. You cover the entirety of the worm's head and mouth with ice before you roll aside, avoiding the hammer-like fall of its frozen face on the ground. Getting up on your feet, you back up a few paces as it raises its ugly head and tries to shake off the ice, eventually slamming down again until it begins to crack.

>>353923

Thinking quickly, you place your hands down on the ground and attempt to create another pillar, a sharp one that the worm would impale itself on, but unfortunately the worm stops smashing its head and drives back down into the snow. As it begins traveling again, it knocks you aside with its massive tail section and slithers off.

Unfortunately, it is not done yet. The worm rises again suddenly from another side of the field, finally free of the ice as its jaws manages to snap shut and crush it. The worm turns and sees you, opening its mouth again.

>>353938

As you think about creating a sharp projectile to shove down its throat, it turns out that it has other plans and a gladn within its mouth opens up to spew concentrated cryonic energy of its own! The blue beam cuts through the snow, turning it to ice!

"I suppose everything is part cryomancer around here!" you shout as you turn and run, but the worm manages to hit you square-on, freezing you completely solid. Though not necessarily harmful to one such as yourself, it keeps you in one place as the worm grows nearer and nearer, opening its mouth and preparing once again to swallow you whole! You desperately try to escape, or think of a way out of this!

Frozen as you are, you can still conjure up some cryonic energy. You close your eyes and focus intensely as the worm grows near, intent on enjoying its frozen meal, when your hands begin to glow blue.

You create a barrier of ice pillars and spikes alongside you, buying you a moment of time as they keep the worm at bay. Tightly biting down and tensing up, you manage to break your icy prison and smash yourself free, but only your upper torso. You begin to pound on the ice keeping you in place with your fists when the worm breaks through the barrier and looks at you.

As you prepare to defend yourself, you hear a new noise; a loud, long and deep war cry. A figure, twice as tall as you are, lands nearby with a burst of ice energy, sending snow flying in all directions. The giantess hefts her large axe before her and sets her sights upon the worm.

"Day deir, tranjar du eek hroar hjem iden VAARDON!"

The worm turns to look at her, exhaling and rumbling deeply. You manage to break free of the ice around your legs and roll back, away from the creature.

The giantess wastes no time in charging in, her feet stomping across the ground with heavy footfalls, and swings her axe at the worm, who recoils in pain. She cleaves into its side, tearing off a section of its white plating, exposing pink-blue flesh beneath.

As the giantess attacks the worm, it writhes and attempts to twist around her. She is forced to hop back and charge in again, but again the worm repositions itself.

Putting up your hands, you attempt to freeze it in place in order to give her a better chance to attack. But when you try, the worm rolls around, out of your blast range. The giantess continues to attack it, slicing away as it is put on the run, but as you run to keep up, the worm suddenly turns around and starts heading in your direction, sliding past her legs.

>>354127

Seeing your opportunity, you kneel and focus, creating a spear of ice, much more solid than the one before. You remember how it bounced off of its white hide, but now it has exposed flesh! You watch as its body rotates in the snow, putting that side high up where the wounded flesh would have the least resistance from the ground.

The worm slides past you and you jump up, shouting as you stab the spear into the wound! The worm screams, a high-pitched and painful sound, as it stops moving and twists. The giantess charges up and buries her axe in its tail, slicing into the segmented white armor and drawing blood.

She withdraws her axe and makes her way up to the head, moving past you with a quick glance. She then steps on its neck and raises the axe high over her head before bringing it down like a woodsman, chopping cleanly into it. The head is almost entirely separated with one blow, and soon enough the body stops moving, only occasionally twitching.

She removes the axe and hefts it up before pounding on her chest and letting out a shout. Afterwards, she turns and looks at you, her expression turning soft.

"Huvorfr kom du telbocki nad, isi blod?"

You shrug, unable to understand her question. You approach her, walking along the dead worm's body, and say, "I'm glad to see you again! Thank you for the timely rescue, as always."

She tilts her head, equally unable to understand you. You hold up the crystal and invite her to come closer, into the protective bubble. She understands that and kneels down.

"Jaaghar ikee fnet deen vennar."

"Right, sure," you nod, sitting down on the worm. "I never got your name, you know." You point at your chest. "Zian. Zhee-Onn."

Her face contorts in confusion. "Du isi... Zeeon?"

You nod and point at your chest again. "Me, ice, Zian." You then point at her. "You? Er, du?"

"Bestla," she replies, pointing to her chest. "Bestla." She then points at you. "Zian."

You smile and nod. "Alright, Bestla. Got it."

Your smile fades away as you feel something moving underneath you. At first you think it may be the worm twitching again, but then you definitely feel something inside of it... moving.

With the remainder of your spear, you cut open the flesh of the worm, slicing into its intestinal lining after cutting past its muscles. There, you discover a fleshy and bulbous sack covered in thick bile that you feel something moving around in, along with a muffled cry for help.

“Frost!” you realize, and begin cutting open the stomach. You slice it open and almost immediately she climbs out, gasping for air and covered in all manner of strange and disgusting fluids from the worm’s stomach. Thankfully, the interior was warm, and despite being eaten, kept her alive. She coughs, hacking up stomach fluid before you help her to the side where she vomits it out. You gently help her to a sitting position outside of the worm as she breathes more easily.

“Zi, Zian,” she says between coughs. “Where, where is…?”

“It’s alright, you’re alright,” you assure her.

“Did I get… eaten?” she asks, wiping her face clean of slop. When you nod, she closes her eyes and shakes her head. “Gods, that was disgusting… I think I might hurl again. And I lost my mask, great.”

She then blinks a few times and looks up at Bestla.

“Uh, Zian…”

“Right, sorry, this is Bestla. She’s the giant we saw who shot down the dragon.”

“Isi blod?” Bestla asks, pointing at Frost.

“Isi blod,” you nod.

“The hell does that mean?” she asks.

“Far as I can figure, it means ice-blood. She’s like us, a cryomancer.”

“That’s one huge cryomancer,” she whispers. “And… Did she help kill this, thing?”

“She did most of the work, I’ll admit.”

“That’s two I owe her, then,” Frost says, nodding at her. “Thank you.”

"Vei bohr kominn." She stands up and looks around.

You look in the gaping hole of the creature and fish your arm inside, searching for her mask. Eventually you find it and pick it back up. When you lift it out of the hole, it drips with the stomach fluid.

Frost shakes her head. "Oh, no. I'll get a new one. Gah." She gingerly takes it from you and throws it off into the snow. "Definitely not wearing that one anymore."

As she stands up, she brushes herself off, trying her best to get rid of the bile. When you move to help, she stops you. "I, uh, I got it. Thanks." She pauses and sighs. "I do mean it. Thank you. I was worried I would end up wormfood, and I... I was hoping you would get me out."

"I'm just glad I found you. I found the city of the cryomancers and came back."

"What? You did?" She turns around, looking at you in surprise. "What is it like?"

"A floating mountain with the city on top of it. Ice, all of it."

"And... you came back for me?"

"Of course I did. I had found Vapor, so---"

She kneels back down and hugs you, despite this action spreading the bile onto your uniform. This is surprising---you're fairly certain, no, ENTIRELY certain she has never hugged you before.

"Thank you," she says.

"It... It wasn't a big deal, really."

Bestla then speaks up. "Dettay kon venti. Vee maa forltay!" She sounds urgent, and motions for you both to stand up. She appears to be readying herself to move back to her cave.

Hopping off the worm, you start making your way towards the wall of ice you made. Bestla is about to speak up, but you interrupt her.

"I need to go back up!" you tell her, pointing to you, then Frost, then the mountain upwards. You hold up three fingers. "I have a friend there!"

She understands. You point at her and then upwards, and she shakes her head. Seems like she doesn't want to come... or cannot. She holds up a blue hand and gives you a small wave before turning. "Vhar fourshiek liet enen!" she calls back before stepping out into the storm, heading back home.

You take Frost with you and approach the wall, explaining the city, the floating mountain and more, as well as Vapor's current condition. You reach the bottom and begin to scale upwards, taking some time to make sure you and Frost both get up through some clever ice pillar generation. Once the two of you start climbing, it is slow going, as you must move together to stay within the protective influence of the crystal you possess. But thanks to your earlier efforts to make the return trip easier while you were descending, this is not very difficult, as you already have hand and footholds ready.

Once you get out of the storm, you are able to reach the top much more quickly. You make it up first, and then help up Frost. She takes a few deep breaths before turning to look at the city. "My god... It's amazing," she says in a low voice. You help her stand up. "Did you explore it?"

"No, just there---" you say as you are about to point at the building you left Vapor in, but then you realize the doors are open.

You go silent and immediately sneak up to the doors, stilling your breathing and not panicing. That wouldn't do well for her if she is in danger. As you hug the wall, you look down and see signs of a struggle near the door; footprints and dragging. Something came up and opened the doors, then dragged something out.

You can guess what.

Looking inside, you see some knocked over furniture, broken in areas, and the bedroom is empty. There are particles of frost here that would indicate recent use of cryomancy.

Frost walks up behind you. "Well?"

"Vapor was here. She was frozen." You look back. "That would explain how they dragged her out of here."

"Who? Cryomancers? Are there any left?"

"We're about to find out."

You stand up and look at her as you move towards the exit. "We're going to find her. I want you to stay behind me, out of sight, until I need you."

"Why me?"

"You're better at sneaking then I am. Better I'm the one who sets off a trap, if there is one."

After thinking it over, she nods. "Alright. Let's go."

You leave the house and begin following the trail. Frost lags behind and eventually takes another route, one that keeps her nearby but out of sight. You keep your eyes down on the ground, but occasionally have them dart around, looking for any signs of trouble. You take a deep breath and swallow any nervousness as you follow the path.

It takes you to the heart of the city. Here, the buildings grow taller and more intricate. You wonder if there is a connection to the level of detail of the buildings, their complexity and height, to their proximity to the edge of the mountain. They only grow taller the further you go, leading you to believe that these places were made by more powerful cryomancers. Perhaps confirming your theory is that, at the center of this city, sits the largest ice structure of all; more of a castle, really. The gigantic proportions of the building make you wonder how many people it took to build it. A thousand? A hundred skilled? A single master?

The trail leads up to the castle, so it appears that is your destination. A grand staircase leads up to a set of large ice doors, which are slightly parted.

Standing alongside the staircase are two large statues of ice, holding large axes. They are still, but as you look at the frosted floor, there are footprints that match the size of their feet leading from and to their position.

It wouldn't be the strangest thing you've encountered if those statues were to come to life and attack.

Keeping a close eye on both statues, you begin to walk up the stairs. About halfway up, the statues come to life---ice given animation---and leap up to the top of the stairs, pointing their weapons at you, making you stop. The constructs are faceless and, aside from their armor, are entirely wrought of solid ice.

"Do you speak?" you ask them, but there is no reply. They stand perfectly still as they face you down. You narrow your eyes, crack your knuckles and get ready for a right if need be.

Turning around to perhaps seek out another entrance, the golems move to attack while your back is turned! They charge forward and swing, but as you were prepared, you roll down the steps and back off onto the flat ground in front of the stairs. They move to follow, moving quickly and holding up their weapons!

Holding up your fists, you get ready to put these two... on ice!

'I need to work on my one-liners, even the ones in my head,' you think.

>>355340

As you try to get back up, the hammerer picks you up by the leg and holds you upside-down. You gasp as he begins to spin you around before letting you go, tossing you across the frozen surface where his counterpart awaits. Holding out his arm, you slam into it face-first and fall down.

Everything is fuzzy for a moment as the two constructs close in. They both raise their weapons and you hold up your hands in an attempt to freeze them, but the blows to your stomach and head prevent you from concentrating in time.

Two knives of ice fly out and are embedded into their heads, causing small cracks. They turn and see Frost sliding up, grabbing you and pulling you out of the range of their weapons. She skids across the ground, her feet glowing blue, as she lets go of you and forms two more daggers.

Holding them up and facing the two constructs, she says, "Mind if I cut in?"

You pick yourself back up and dust some ice off. She cocks a brow. "You alright there, tough guy?"

"I've been hit by worse," you reply, balling your fists up and getting ready to punch some ice.

"And you've hit worse, so let's kick their ass," she says, darting in with her knives.

You follow her as she attacks the one on the left, leaving the right one for you, the one with the hammer. You leap up and punch him in the face, shedding a few more crystals of ice from the cracks Frost's dagger left behind. As the golem attempts to recover, you punch him again and again, slamming your fists into his face and chest. The contruct may be made out of ice, but your fists are made of steel, in a purely metaphorical sense. You continue to punch, adding in a few kicks, moving fast and hard enough to keep it from recovering and counterattacking.

>>355455

Nearby, Frost dances around her opponent, dodging his attacks until she sees her openings, striking with precision slashes and kicks. What you lack in finesse she more than makes up for as the two of you begin to beat your opponents backwards. Frost creates a spear of ice and thrusts it into her opponent's head, cracking it even more.

Eventually, you both push them against each other.

>>355378

Frost's hands and eyes glow blue, as do yours. With them both back-to-back, the two of you put your hands together and fire simultaneous cryonic beams of energy at them, freezing them both together! After completely covering them in a solid cone of ice, you walk around and approach her. She puts up her hand and you give her a cold high-five, sending small snowflakes and bits of cryo-dust falling from your hands.

The two of you begin to walk towards the palace when you begin to hear a cracking noise. Turning back, you see the cone of ice begin to shake and then shatter. You both protect yourselves from the falling ice as you look upon what emerges from the cold coccoon; a single, unified ice golem, twice as large and strong as either statues were apart.

"Talk about coming together," Frost says as the large ice construct steps towards you. "It'd be nice to have a giant right about now!"

Creating a sword in one hand, you and Frost split apart as it smashes the ground, creating splinters of ice that travel up and become large spikes where you were standing. You dart in towards it, landing lightly on your feet as you slide past and slice at its joints, but this does little to be effective. The golem stomps on the ground, making a shockwave of ice that pushes you backwards.

>>355516

Again you go for the legs, jumping over the next shockwave and sliding between them. However, when you do this, the giant constuct lifts up its foot and slams it down on you, pinning you to the floor. You shout in pain as you grab its foot and try to push it off of you, but it slowly puts more pressure on.

>>355530

Closing your eyes, you cover yourself in a sheet of protective ice as you hands and eyes glow blue. By smoothing it out, you make it slippery, which gives Frost a chance to tackle the golem's other leg from behind. This causes its center of balance to change and it slips on your icy armor, falling backwards and cracking a bit as its back hits the ground. You push the ice shield off of you as you get up, taking deep breaths as your lungs and chest readjust to the normal state of not having a giant foot stepping on them.

Nearby, Frost jumps onto the contruct's chest and ties punching him, but he remains solid. You begin to wonder if you're going about this the wrong way; to break him, perhaps you need to use something bigger than him...

Looking up nearby, you see the top of a tower. A bell tower, to be specific, complete with a frozen bell. Despite you questioning how such a thing could work, perhaps that would be heavy enough to smash this melded monster to bits...

You see the bell tower and run towards it, but the golem has other plans. It knocks Frost off of his chest and gets back up, moving to intercept you. As your leg is grabbed and you are pulled backwards, you look down at Frost.

"Frost! The bell! Smash this thing!"

"Okay! It seems to like you more, anyway!"

She runs towards the tower as you mentally and physically prepare to be a punching bag for the ice golem.

After a minute of being tossed around, the golem lets go and you fly into the wall of a nearby building, bursting clean through it. You end up in someone's frozen living room and shake your head as you pick yourself up.

The golem smashes the roof, showering you with ice shards, as it reaches down to grab you, but you leap out through the same hole you entered from and look up. Frost has made it to the top of the tower and is preparing to use the bell, but you need to lure him over first!

>>355572

Dodging the golem's stomp, you dash towards the tower, picking up bits of ice and throwing them at him, mostly to annoy. As the golem pulls its arm out of the house, he walks towards you and leans over.

You continue to taunt him. "Come on, you big waste of a popsicle! I've seen snowballs worse than you! Frosty wouldn't be caught dead giving you the time of day!"

"You really need to work on those!" Frost calls from the top of the tower.

As the golem reaches up to bring its fist slamming down on you, the trap is sprung. You slide away with a burst of cryonic energy, skidding across the courtyard as Frost pushes the bell out of the tower. The heavy sculpture falls, making first contact with the neck of the construct, severing its head. They both fall to the ground and shatter with an overwhelming noise, sending shards of ice flying in all directions.

As Frost slides down the side of the tower, you throw your fist into the air. "Yeah! We really kicked some ice, huh?"

She stops dead in her tracks and lets out a long, low sigh. "Tundra, I like you, I really do. But if you ever say that again, I'm freezing your junk solid and then I'll 'kick some ice' if you know what I mean."

You gulp as she walks past, towards the doors. Pushing them open, you and her both walk into a grand entrance hall. Everything in the room, from the ceiling to the pillars holding it up is ornate, perfectly preserved and beautiful to behold. The power that must have been used to forge this wonder is unlike any you ever imagined possible of cryomancers to possess.

"How did they make this?" Frost wonders, looking at the amazing patterns of ice dragons along one of the walls. "Who lived here?"

"I wonder where they all went," you say, tearing your eyes away from the sight to look at the ground. You know Vapor was taken here, but the trail ends and you can only wonder where to go.

You take a firm stance on the situation. "We'll figure it out once we find Vapor. That's the important thing. Come on, let's see if we can't find a dungeon or something..."

As you walk around, Frost continually inspects the walls, doors, furniture and more, intensely curious as to their design and what it must have taken to make them. Though you are just as curious, as this is all part of the history you came to find, you focus solely on finding your fellow Lin Kuei.

Eventually you come upon a large staircase that goes downwards. As this castle was located at the heart of the floating icemote, and this is the first downward direction you have discovered, this must travel far into the ice and lead to another level entirely, built into the mountain itself.

As you travel down its long, winding length, Frost lags behind a bit. "Come on, Frost!" you tell her and she skips up to your side.

"Sorry, this is all just so fascinating," she admits. "I never really knew or cared too much about where we came from or how we ended up like we are, but all of this... it's just making me think."

"I think that's why my father wanted you to come along," you tell her.

"Yeah... right." You look over at her and notice that the mention of your father seems to have stirred up some potentially negative feelings. What ended up happening between them so long ago? You've never spoken about it with her...

Before more thought on the matter can be spent, you reach the bottom of the stairs and find yourselves in a large, rough natural cavern. The ceiling is high above your heads, but the walls and floor all seem naturally formed, with clusters of icy crystals and clear formations in random locations throughout the massive cavern. The path from the stairs, however, is nearly laid out and leads to an entrance of sorts, to some kind of dungeon or tomb, with an archway of solid ice sharing the same level of detail as before, but beyond is darkness.

"What a cave," she says, looking around as you two walk forwards. "This must take up at least half of the interior of the entire floating mountain! It's a wonder how the whole city doesn't come crashing down in here..."

Your attention is focused solely on the entrance up ahead, and what may lie inside. You step on something suddenly, and it sticks out of the snow.

You lean down to pick it up and shake off the snow. A grey facemask.

Vapor's facemask.

You look up at the entrance as your blood runs a little bit colder, and not because of who your father is.

"This feels like a trap," you say, holding up the mask. "What should we do?"

"Spring it," she replies. "Whatever's in there is waiting for us. We won't know what it is until we go see what it is."

You grip the mask tightly and slide it onto your belt. "Stay behind me, stay hidden like before. I'll go in and be the face."

"Be careful," she says, and stays behind as you walk forward.

You pass through the carved entrance and into a long hallway that opens up to a dark chamber that glows with a dull blue hue that you can see even as you approach it. Upon entering the room itself, you find yourself staring a large blue crystal that takes up much of the mostly-circular chamber. The crystal glows and is oddly shaped, spiraling to a point upwards with jagged spikes.

Your eyes narrow as you look around the room for any sign of Vapor, but see none.

When you take a few steps closer to the large structure, a voice reaches your ears as though its owner is whispering right behind you.

"It's impressive, isn't it?" he asks. "It's a larger version of the shard you have in your pocket."

You turn around, looking for the source of the voice even as a chill terror begins to creep up your spine. You know whose voice that is.

"The ancient ones could create ice like no others. Their ice was magic, and artifacts like this allowed them to make wonders. This one is what keeps the mountain afloat, what keeps the storm from reaching them. You have a piece of it with you."

Taking a steadying breath, you speak up. "Show yourself."

His voice seems to bounce off the walls, but it always seems to end up focused right in the center of your mind. "I'm right here. I have been, all along, beside you. A part of you."

"What did you do with Andela?" you demand, looking around.

"I know what you did with her," he slyly replies. "You left her alone. She was weak, vulnerable, tired... and you left her in a strange place."

"Show yourself, you coward..."

"Come now, Zian... Between us, we both know who the coward is."

"A coward hides in the shadows. I'm not afraid of you."

"Hahaha... You can lie to me, Zian, but you can't lie to yourself. You can't lie to your dreams. And I know your dreams so very well..."

Shadows flicker in the corners of the room. The blue light from the crystal seems to dim a bit, and the room grows a bit darker.

"Tell me, why did you come here?"

"I'm betting you already know," you say, curling your fingers and scanning your eyes around the room, looking for him.

"I do, but I want to hear you say it."

"Maybe you should come out so I can say it to your face."

You hear footsteps, and what sounds like armor moving. You look to your left and see a figure step forth from the shadows, wearing the armor of an ancient cryomancer, like your father once described. But his skin is not white, but black as obsidian. Two blue eyes peer out at you from beneath the steel-blue helmet.

"Did you come looking for this?" he asks, reaching up and taking off the helmet. He holds it up in one hand, looking at it. "There's an old crypt nearby. The last of the cryomancers are buried there." He looks over at you again and adds, "Well... not the last."

Noob Saibot drops the helmet to the ground, whereupon he kicks it towards you, almost dismissively. The helmet rolls across the ground and ends up at your feet.

You look back up at him. "Go on. See for yourself. That's all that's left of them. Frozen corpses, empty buildings of ice, some glowing crystals---and useless armor." He holds out his arms. "But us? We are alive."

"You are not alive."

"Relatively speaking," he says, slipping back into the darkness behind him. Again his voice echoes around the chamber as more shadows dance along the walls. "We are what remains of the ancient cryomancers, too. Their blood runs in your veins, as it did in mine."

You remain silent as you keep yourself ready at any moment to defend, but Noob still seems content to talk.

"But do you know what the fundamental difference between you and I is? Between your father and I?"

"Well, for one, my father actually beat Scorpion in a fight."

Silence fills the chamber following that stinging remark. A smile comes to your lips.

"What's wrong, uncle? Have you run out of things to bore me with?"

"Scorpion," the voice returns. "Hahah... Hahahahah!" His laughter resonates throughout the chamber. "Let me tell you about Scorpion, young one. His story is not entirely different from your father's, because now both are nothing more than weak, pathetic men. Scorpion could have been so much more, but he lost sight of what truly mattered. He strayed and now thinks he can live as a man."

You look to your right as the shadowy form of Noob Saibot reappears from the wall. You maintain your composure as the figure who has haunted your dreams for a decade materializes, staring at you with his bright blue featureless eyes. "Do you think the man who calls himself Hanzo Hasashi today is any bit as powerful as he once was when his meaning was clear? What he thought was a burden of vengeance was clarity of purpose. Scorpion defeated me because his desire for revenge, misguided as it was due to his easily-fooled nature, burned hotter than the ice in my blood."

Noob clenches his fist and holds it up before him as it drips with black oil. "But even he lost his own inner flame. Scorpion died the day he became Hanzo Hasashi once more, but he was always a fool. He resented what he was... while I embrace it. I have the same conviction, the same clarity of purpose, the same power that once fueled his heart. And I have used it to defeat your father, to conquer the Netherrealm, to raise my Army of Darkness... and I will use it to destroy everything you hold dear."

You face him fully, staring at him through your one functioning eye. "When we last met, I was only a child. I'm much more now."

"I know," he nods as he lowers his hand. "For a long time, I was worried that your father would never let you leave the temple, and yet here you are, wearing blue but still green on the inside and with a belly of yellow. I know you, Zian. I have watched you. You convince yourself that you are brave, that you are worthy of the Lin Kuei, that you are not afraid---and we both know all three of those to be lies."

"I am Lin Kuei," you firmly insist. "That's the difference between me, my father and you: we are Lin Kuei, and you are not. Not anymore."

"I care nothing for the mockery that is your new Lin Kuei. I have already seen what will happen to it, and so have you." He holds up his arms and indicates the room around you. "Behold, the legacy of the Lin Kuei: doomed to extinction, just as the cryomancers we are descended from."

"They're not extinct yet," you say, holding up your hands.

He chuckles to himself as he begins to pace around you. "Oh, but they are. You don't know what killed them, but I do."

"Since you're so keen on talking, why not tell me about it?"

"When I first died, I thought about holding onto what I was: a cryomancer. I found this place, and do you know what I found? Nothing. There was nothing left of them, for each of them had died. It all became clear to me: why hold onto the past, when all it can offer is weakness? So I let go. I let go of the cryomancer blood in my veins, I let go of the Lin Kuei, I let go of my title of Sub-Zero and I let go of Bi-Han. And I became something more than you could ever be."

"I didn't imagine our meeting to involve this much talking," you say to him.

Again he chuckles. "Well, it's giving my 'friend' time to deal with yours."

Your eyes widen as your heart beats a little more quickly. 'Frost!'

You break immediately from Noob as he laughs and you run back to the entrance of the room. "Frost? Frost!" you call out her name. Since the wraith's arrival, the entry way has grown only darker, as though the shadows have been heightened by his arrival. You look into them, attempting to peer through as you search for Frost.

Footsteps reach your ears, ringing out on the ice. Then, a set of blue eyes open, fixed upon you from the darkness.

"Tuuuuundraaaaaa...." her voice comes, but it is twisted and not her own. "Tuuuuuundraaaaaa..."

"Frost?"

She steps out into the light. Something has taken hold of her, changed her---a dark presence lingers over her and has taken root. Her face is covered in some kind of black mask that obscures her nose and mouth, shaped like large fangs, giving her an eerie, inhuman smile. Her eyes are featureless and blue---like Noob's. Cold grows up her arms and back, creating spines of ice that add to the menacing appearance.

"Frost..." you whisper.

"Why keep up your sympathy?" she asks, stepping closer. "You never truly liked me. You never truly thought of me as a friend."

"That's not true! Frost, listen to yourself!"

"Neither you nor Sub-Zero ever truly valued me!" she says, holding up her hands and squeezing them. "You think I did not hear? You think I did not see? I did! I know what you truly think!"

You continue attempting to reason with her. "Frost, something has gotten into you! It's making you say these things! You have to fight it!"

"I don't WANT to fight it!" she says, letting out a cold, foggy breath. "For the first time since I grabbed the Dragon Medallion, I feel alive again! Like I can finally be myself---be what I was always MEANT to be! And YOU! You always hated me!"

"That's not---"

"You and Sub-Zero both! I wasn't ever good enough for either of you! He rejected me, you rejected me! You both hate me!"

"I do not! And neither does my father!"

She ignores you and goes on. "Well, I hate you! I've always hated you! I hate how you look just like him, I hate how you're his favorite, I hate how you're so simple-minded and arrogant and foolish! I hate everything about you, Tundra!"

You step back, trying to remain firm in the face of these words, but even though these may not be Frost's words, they are in her voice and still shake you. Nearby, Noob laughs again and steps into the shadows.

Frost, or whatever she has become, now points and says, "I hate you... and I'm going to kill you!"

As your uncle slips into the dark corners of the room and vanishes from sight, you focus on Frost and continue trying to reason with her. "Frost, I don't hate you, I never did. If I hated you, why did I go back to look for you and bring you here with me?"

"Oh, it would disappoint your father so," she slyly accuses as she begins to step around you. "We can't have that, can we? His approval means everything to you. We can't disappoint him or fail to live up to his expectations, now... CAN WE?!"

With those last few words, she dives towards you with a kick. You step aside as she lands on the ground and attempts to sweep your legs out from under you, but you backflip away and dodge the attack.

Low to the ground and on all fours, she looks at you with burning blue eyes. "You sicken me! The way you grovel and bow before him, you're weak! Weak like your father! You're both unfit to be cryomancers, unfit to lead the Lin Kuei!"

You hold up your hand and shout, "Frost, listen to me! I know that you're in there! This isn't you---you must fight it! I know you can!"

She stands up as she laughs. "What's the matter, Tundra? Afraid to admit to yourself that this is the real me? I'm not holding it back anymore, I'm letting it all out, and it feels... so... good!" She stretches her arms out and rolls her head backwards across her shoulders before focusing on you again. "To think, one time I wanted you... Wanted your father... Mmm, the things I would have done!" she laughs in a sultry yet sinister tone. "I would have made your cold blood run hot..."

Ignoring her attempts to put you off-guard, you continue to plead with her. "Frost... Please, fight it! You know what you truly are---this isn't it!"

"Oh, I'll fight something alright," she says, crouching low again. "...YOU!"

She springs forward, hands covered in icy claws!

"Tundra... Why hurt me? Why would you hurt your friend?" she coos in pain, her voice no longer twisted but normal.

As you walk towards her, she springs back up. "I'll show you hurt!"

>>356611

As she leaps at you again, you attempt to slide underneath her with a trail of ice, but she reaches down and grabs you, pinning you to the floor. Now atop you, she begins to rain fists down upon your face, her hands hardened with ice so as to hurt more. Left, right, left, right, she pummels you before grabbing your blue mask and tearing it off.

"I was never good enough for you! Never!" she shouts as she resumes punching. "Even last night, you rejected me! You hate me! You hate me!"

She finishes punching and reaches around your throat. "Well, I don't need you now... and I don't need Sub-Zero! I have a new master now! And he is worthy of service, worthy of devotion! I would die for him! I would kill for him!"

You try to speak for her, but her grip tightens.

Reaching up to her face, you grab hold of her firmly and pull her down as you lean up, headbutting her and cracking the black ice of her mask. As she rears back, you then grab the remaining shards of the mask and pull them off of her face, throwing them aside and exposing her mouth.

This isn't her---you KNOW it isn't her. Something is inside of her, and it won't let go... unless it has a better host.

Maybe it's stupid, maybe it's crazy, maybe it's the wrong thing to do... but you pull her in for a kiss.

Frost goes stiff in your hands as you open yourself up, and the spirit within her leaves her body, entering yours. Frost goes numb and falls unconscious in your arms, allowing you to roll her off to the side as you try to get up, coughing. Your throat feels cold, and it spreads to your insides. Unnatural cold, deathly cold, and soon it's all you can feel. Your vision begins to swim and turn blue as your mind is granted a strange vision that begins to become more clear.

Your ears are filled with laughter. Noob Saibot's laughter. "Now you will see," he says, appearing and kneeling alongside you. "See the end of the cryomancers."

The vision is of a people, the ancient cryomancers. Images flash before your eyes of their rise, their dominance, and their fall---brought about by a curse, a dark spirit, who claimed their lives. One by one, this darkness, this soul of winter, claimed them, making them destroy themselves. The few who could escape this doom fled these lands, but those who remained attempted to fight it, until they realized that they couldn't win. And so they sacrificed themselves, here in their tomb, keeping it locked away... until today.

"I don't know its name," he says as it continues to spread to your body, "but I know that it is hungry. It has been here for so long, waiting for a true cryomancer to return so that it may leave and resume its work. It has been waiting for someone with the blood of ice... for you, Tundra. Or Frost, it doesn't matter, but I prefer that it is you. I prefer that you are the one to return to your home, to spread killing ice and cold, to murder your clan, your mother, your father... Just as I have shown you in your dreams."

You close your eyes and desperately try to hold onto your humanity as you feel it being swallowed by the cold darkness. What remains of you is slipping away, frozen and discarded as the spirit takes root.

"There's no fighting it," Noob says. "We all know you are weak... But now, you can be strong. Now, you can have purpose and meaning, like I do. You will be the arm of winter in my Army of Darkness, the vanguard of freezing death... Just let go, Tundra. You cannot win."

>PERSPECTIVE SWITCH

You slowly open your eyes, groaning a bit. Your head is throbbing and you feel like you've been hit by a truck, then it backed up and went over you a few more times. Your muscles are sore, your eyes feel like they're jelly, and your mind is foggy---but then you hear the laughter.

You look up at Noob Saibot and you immediately shoot up to a sitting position and back up. He doesn't spare you any attention, however, for his is focused squarely upon Tundra, and now your's is as well.

Zian is changing. His skin is turning blue, and then to ice as spikes and shards of it begin to grow from his flesh. His eyes burn blue as something takes him over---the same thing that took you over, you realize, as memories of what it made you say and do come flooding back.

'Oh, oh shit...' you think as the words it made you say to him play out in your mind. What's even worse is that you remember what he did for you to get it out of your body and your guilt skyrockets.

Noob steps back as Tundra rises a changed being. The spirit has taken him over completely, overwritten him as the controller of his body, and you know all too well what it intends to to with him. While it was in control of you, you learned many things of your own: what it did to the cryomancers, how they defeated it, and what it now plans to do with its new freedom and alliance with Noob Saibot.

You also saw visions of it freezing Vapor, and where it took her---there is a tomb nearby, connected to this building, where her frozen form lies, preserved so that Noob may use her for his plans later.

But what's more, you know that Tundra is carrying the very key to seal away the dark spirit back in the large crystal at the heart of the chamber---the small blue crystal he found at the bottom of the ocean!

Noob turns his attention to you now, and so does Tundra. The wraith looks upon you with apathy. "I have no use for you as a cryomancer any longer," he says, "but I could always use another wraith."

You get up to your feet and hold up your arms. "Try it, freak, and see what happens!"

Noob laughs at the notion. "Tundra, if you would, kill her. I'll deal with what is left."

"Gladly," he says, his breath cold and white. He steps towards you. "Come, Frost, let us make this quick... We both know how tired you are of living in the shadow of my father, so living as a shadow should suit you well."

Tundra raises his hands and fires a volley of ice spikes at you, but you bring up your hands and create a shield in front of you to block them. They shatter upon making contact with it but the last of them breaks the shield as well, causing you to fall backwards. Tundra covers his hand in a ball of ice and leaps forward, intent on bringing it down onto you, but you roll to the side and make a run for it.

You know exactly where Vapor is, and how to break her out. Tundra is right behind you as you leap up onto the upper level and dash into the tunnel leading to the crypt of the last cryomancers. Here is where Vapor was brought and you see her immediately, frozen in a combative pose. She tried to defend herself but was unable to do so, but that might just be your lucky break, for if you can free her, she'll be combat-ready.

Tundra raises his hand and creates a slick pool of ice at your feet, making you slip and fall before you can reach Vapor. He then raises a series of spiked icicles in front of you, making a barrier between you and her.

"There's no use in running," Tundra says. "I killed every single cryomancer that ever was, and what are you? Nothing!"

You stand back up and pant a bit, looking over your shoulder at the looming ice demon.

"Give up, Frost... You know you're going to die. Accept it."

You kneel down and place your hands on the ground, conjuring forth a burst of ice that surges outwards in all directions. It shatters the the icicles behind you, but does not break the ice encasing Vapor. Tundra is also unphased by it, as he puts up his arms and seems to absorb it. He then points both hands at you and launches two balls of ice from his hands at you, each hitting your stomach and knocking you down.

"Your ice is useless," he says, walking closer. "Just like you."

"Yeah?" you ask, gasping a bit. "Well, let's just see about that!"

>>356902

You throw your arm upwards and create a dome of ice over him, allowing it to drop down and trap him. This seems to work, allowing you to turn towards Vapor and start working on the ice covering her.

You place your hands on it the ice and begin working your power through it, weakening it and causing cracks to appear along its surface. You close your eyes and focus hard as Tundra pounds on the dome, cracking that as well. With just a little bit more time, you can---

He smashes through the dome, breaking it into pieces. He raises both hands and covers them in spikes like a morning star before charging at you, intent on slamming them down and impaling you on them.

With no other option, you cover yourself in a protective sheet of ice, completely encasing yourself in it. Tundra rushes forward and slams his arms down into it, completely smashing it. The ice crumbles to pieces, scattering in all directions---but you are not inside.

"What?" he says, looking around.

You slide up behind him, having successfully cryoported for the first time, and stab him in the calf with a dagger of ice! He shouts in pain and turns around, but you are ready with a powerful uppercut that sends him flying backwards---right into Vapor's frozen prison, shattering it and freeing her!

Vapor bleeds outwards in a grey fog in all directions before reforming alongside you. She shakes her head. "Urgh... What is...?" She looks over as Tundra picks himself up and turns around. "Z-Zian?"

"It's not him!" you tell her. "He's been possessed by an ancient evil that killed all of the cryomancers! He's still inside, but we need to trap the spirit in the ice again!"

"Never!" Tundra shouts, covering his arms in shards of ice again. "Never again! I will spread cold death across the realms, and there is nothing you can do to stop me!"

"Definitely an evil spirit," Vapor whispers.

She vanishes in a cloud of smoke as you roll away, pushing yourself back up with your ice powers. "The crystal!" you shout out to Vapor. "We need to get the crystal in his pocket!"

As Tundra faces you again, you blast his legs with cryonic energy, freezing him to the spot. He growls and prepares to break free, but not before Vapor appears behind him and reaches into his sash and finds the glowing crystal. >>357163

As you reach the main chamber once more, you stop sliding and focus your beam even harder against his own, expanding it outwards. The meeting of these two colliding beams creates a wall of ice at the entrance to the tomb, at least five feet thick, that serves to keep him trapped, at least temporarily.

You then raise your hand and flip him off. "Haha! Fuck you, evil ice spirit! Suck my frozen dick!"

You turn around and come face-to-face with Noob Saibot, towering over you.

He backhands you and sends you flying off to the side. Vapor appears and catches you, dragging you away and up to your feet.

Noob splits into two as the oily Saibot separates from him.

d-does frost have a dick?

Well, she could conceivably MAKE one out of ice, but let's not walk down this road.

>>357205
>>357196

As Saibot lunges forward, you summon two ice daggers and throw them at him, pinning his oily feet to the ground and stopping him in his tracks. This gives Vapor the opening she needs to fly over to the large crystal and start searching it for imperfections.

>>357198

you dash off to the side, leaping from the upper level and onto the massive glowing ice crystal. You feel its power radiating; it was created long ago to house the magic of this city, but also to contain the evil spirit of ice. When pieces of it were stolen, the phantom was able to escape, and the cryomancers were desperate to recover the lost pieces, but could not do so in time.

Touching your hands to the crystal, you reach out with your cryomancy and sense where the fracture is located---detecting it almost instantly!

"Vapor! It's over---"

Noob suddenly appears from the shadows and runs over, tackling you to the ground. You shout as he gets on top of you, wrapping his hands around your throat.

"Foolish girl," he mutters, squeezing down. "I'll do to you now what I should have done twenty years ago..."

Suddenly, Vapor teleports above him, landing on his back! She wraps an arm around his neck, choking him out and forcing him to let go!

"Remember me?!" she says as she tightens her arm around his neck. "Remember my father?! This is for what you and your master did to him long ago!"

She draws a knife from her gauntlet out and stabs him in the ribs, where his heart would be. Noob shouts and turns to oil in her hands, bleeding away.

Vapor falls atop you and you both help each other up. "Where's the point?" she asks.

As you are about to answer, the ice covering the tomb entrance shatters outwards as Tundra walks through. He sets his sights upon you both and jumps down.

"Frost... Andela..." he mutters. "It's time for this to end!"

"I agree," you say, taking the crystal from her hands. "Let's finish this."

>>
>>357254

Vapor flies forward, tackling Tundra to the ground. This gives you the chance to run around and replace the crystal in its missing slot. With lines of blue surrounding it, the crystal fuses back into place and rejoins the rest of the magical ice.

The crystal at the heart of the chamber begins to glow even brighter, pulsing as though it is a heart itself. Each pulse is accompanied by a brighter flash of light, banishing the shadows of the room.

Tundra throws Vapor off of him and stands up, now charging at you. He batters himself against you, throwing both of you to the ground as he stares into your eyes.

"No! I won't let you---I WONT'T LET YOU!"

With its purpose restored, the crystal begins to pull the spirit out of Tundra and into the central core. Black, wispy smoke begins to drift off of his skin along with the ice covering his skin, all of it twisting as it is sucked into the crystal. "No! NO! NOOOOOO!" he cries, desperately clinging onto his mortal shell. Within moments, the entirety of the spirit is dragged back into the crystal.

Tundra now falls onto you, unconscious just as you were when the spirit left. You push him off and stand up, looking around.

Noob Saibot appears on the upper level. "Congratulations," he says, folding his arms. "But now what? All I need do is break the crystal once more and free the spirit. If not today, then tomorrow. You've done nothing but delay the inevitable."

You meet his gaze and stand up as Vapor materializes at your side. Staring up at him, you make your choice.

>A) Destroy the crystal with the spirit inside of it; this will cause the city to be destroyed

You look down at Tundra and slap his face as Noob's laughter again fills the room. "Come on, Tundra, wake up already!"

"Yes, let him be awake for this," Noob says, several portals opening behind him at once. Wraiths begin to walk through them, in several sizes and forms. One of them hands him a black scythe and he holds it up, inspecting it. "It's time for this to end."

With one final slap, you say, "Wake up Zian, you lazy little---"

He startles into consciousness, blinking and sitting up. You inwardly cheer as you turn his face towards you. "Zian! We need to stop him!"

"What...? How?"

"You had the spirit in you too, now. You know what the magic ice can do!"

Zian looks at the glowing crystal, then up at Noob and his growing force of wraiths. "Right," he says, standing up, but stumbling. Vapor helps hold him up as you and he both put your hands on the crystal.

"Are you ready?" you ask him. He nods and you both begin focusing, putting your cryonic energy into the beacon. Vapor supports him as he does, but when Noob commands his minions to move up, the half-enenra lets go and stands between you and them.

"Whatever you're doing, make it fast!" she says as she begins to hold them off, blasting them with smoke and teleport-kicking them with rapid and fast strikes.

"This is it!" you shout at Zian. "Give it everything you got!"

He grits his teeth and continues funneling power into the crystal, but again Noob's laughter reaches your ears. "You cannot do it, Zian! You know you can't! You are full of doubt, full of weakness! You powers are nothing! Your family is nothing! Your clan is nothing! And soon, you will be nothing as well!"

You look at Zian and see him begin to buckle, struggling to keep up. You, a more powerful cryomancer, are not struggling as much as he.

"Come on, don't let him get to you!" you shout to him.

He is all but about to collapse under his own weight as the crystal demands reserves of power from him that he cannot supply. "I... I can't!" he shouts, about to break under the pressure.

You look at Zian and shake your head. "Come on, Zian! You've been through enough of his taunts to ignore them! They're just words! You can do this, I know you can!"

His arms shake as his legs begin to buckle. He is struggling, but has not fallen. His body glows blue along white along with your own as you continue to channel energy into the crystal; it has almost reached peak power needed to fuel the spell you are attempting to cast.

You've never been one for encouraging talk, but this is no time to watch him give up on himself. "Zian, listen to me! Think of your family, your clan! Think of your friends! Come on, don't give up, don't let them down! I believe in you! GODDAMNIT, DON'T LET HIM WIN!"

He is not relenting. His body is weary and drained, but he keeps his hands on the pillar. Breath does not find him as he continues to channel power he did not know he had into the crystal, but still he pushes on, past the point of his limits.

But he cannot do it alone. You take a hand off the pillar and place it on his shoulder, and now you channel energy into him as well. He looks at you, wordlessly asking if that is wise, and you nod. "We do this together," you say breathlessly.

With your combined energy, you finally completely imbue the crystal with the necessary power. It glows bright blue, but remains cold to the touch as the light becomes blinding. Vapor teleport-slams a wraith, whose eyes begin to burn from the bright light. She shields her own eyes as the room fills completely with light, banishing all shadows. Even Noob himself must protect his eyes from the sheer luminosity of the magical ice.

Then, the energy is released. Harnessing the power of the magical ice, as well as the spirit of winter within the obelisk, you and Zian unleash blue beams of cryonic energy across the room. These blast the wraiths, piercing them and cutting them in half. Vapor takes cover as the wraith she is atop is destroyed.

Noob shouts as several rays of blue light strike his chest, filling him up with light. His form begins to bloat and twist as his skin bubbles before he explodes in a shower of oil and black flesh. His dying scream fills the room, echoing through the halls as the light begins to fade.

The wraiths are gone, with only scorch marks remaining.

Zian falls down and you help him to a sitting position. Vapor pokes her head out from behind a crystal. "Uh... what happened?"

"We destroyed them," you reply, propping the barely-conscious cryomancer against the obelisk.

"For good?"

"I doubt it. He was probably sent back to the Netherrealm. But it gave him something to think about..."

"What about that spirit?" she asks.

"It was part of the spell," you tell her. "We used its power, inside the crystal, as a weapon... If it's destroyed, or just gone for now, I don't know. But it won't be bothering us for now."

You look at Zian, who sits with his eyes closed. You rub his slightly-bloody forehead and smile as you sit back.

>PERSPECTIVE SWITCH

You open your eyes and rub your head. You can hear Frost and Vapor talking amongst themselves nearby, but their words don't really register in your mind. Taking a deep breath, you try to focus on what just happened.

You and Frost were pouring all of your power inot the crystal. She knew what you had known, for she too had been host to the spirit and had access to the knowledge it shared with you, as though through imprintation or symbiosis or some other strange reason. On a much larger scale, just as Bestla and you had imbued the small crystal with your power, so to did you and Frost pour your energy into the larger obelisk.

But you were failing, and you let Noob's words get to you. You were about to give up when Frost encouraged you, reminded you of what was at stake, while Vapor held off the wraiths coming to attack you. Frost placed her hand on your shoulder and lended you some of her might, allowing you to keep on even after your body was ready to give out. Your powers, not as developed as her own, hindered you in ways she was not. But in the end... she was there for you.

You look over at her now as she sighs and sits up against the crystal. There's a strange feeling lingering in your mind, an odd sensation---the crystal changed you, somehow. You're not sure how, but when you and Frost both poured energy into it, something was put back into both of you.

"Frost," you say, getting her attention as you take off your hood. "Do you feel anything? Different?"

"A little," she says with a nod. "Tingly..."

"Yes," you say, "especially in my hands."

You hold them up. They appear slightly whiter than before, not unlike your father's. "Do you think..." your voice trails off, before you finish your thought: "Do you think our contact with the crystal somehow changed us?"

"I can't say for certain," she replies, inspecting her and your hands. "Do you feel more powerful?"

"I don't know, I'm too tired," you admit. "But there is definitely... something..."

>Also are we going to get to pick for frost?

Potentially, but Frost and Zian are actually now on the same level, power-wise. The crystal caused a change in both of them, making them more powerful but balancing each other out. Their power briefly became one, then was actively disseminated equally into them both, with a little extra from the crystal itself to represent the last bit of power from the ancient cryomancers given to them.
>>
>>358784
This is also fine. I suppose we can go full fengshui/tactician via straight up study if nobody has objections.
We should probably raid the library before we leave though if that's the case.

After gathering armor from the tombs, you then return to the city above and explore it. The ancient cryomancers are gone, but their city remains and you can study it. There isn't much else to learn, unfortunately, but you do collect many books that are written in a script you cannot read from a library of sorts. These could provide a number of useful clues to the cryomancer's civilization and potential abilities and theories regarding cryomancy itself.

When you have some time to yourself, you sit back in one of the cryomancer's old homes on a chair of ice and think about something that is troubling you. During your time that you were controlled by the ice spirit, you learned a few facts not only about it and its history, but about the person it had controlled last: Frost. You learned that while she wasn't in control of anything she had said, it wasn't entirely unfounded.

She carries great anger. Orphaned, forced to fight to survive, never knowing her origins or the source of her Kori abilities. When she was younger, during the time of Shao Kahn's invasion, not long after she became your father's pupil, she developed feelings for him. Perhaps it was childish, perhaps it was out of some misguided notion that since they were the last of the cryomancers, they made sense as a couple, but when she saw him with Sareena, your mother, she grew jealous. It was this very same jealousy that led her to taking the Dragon Medallion---she wanted power, and to show Sub-Zero that she was better. She was foolish, she even admits this to herself---but those were her reasons.

She was frozen for a long time, out of ice that was not entirely unlike the magical cryomancer ice you've encountered on this journey. They couldn't free her, and so they left her in the Lin Kuei temple crypt until she was freed when you were only sixteen, just about four years ago. You always thought she was a bit strange, and she was rude of course, but now that you've glimpsed her mind by proxy, you begin to understand why as you see things from her perspective.

She had quite a few issues with your father already, but when she woke up, you were there. You were like a younger version of himself already, so it was all too easy to project the issues she had with him onto yourself, but to her shame, she began to once more develop the same complicated feelings towards you that she once had for Sub-Zero---or, perhaps it would be more accurate to say, she simply shifted them from him onto you. She grew jealous and spiteful towards other girls who seemed to be spending time with you, like Samantha, and that night in the cave, when your actions were not your own, when you invited her into your embrace and began to kiss her, it was something she had always wanted but had convinced herself she didn't. Your actions allowed a flood of repressed emotions from within her to surface, and when it seemed like you weren't going to return them, her spite only grew.
>>
>>358808

Though you managed to apologize and get her to work alongside you again, even joining powers with her at the end to fend off the wraiths and Noob Saibot, you two are still a bit distant and awkward around each other.

As you sit in this room now, thinking heavily on these thoughts, you begin to wonder what you should do. Frost isn't unattractive, by any means, but can you honestly say you return her feelings, complicated as they are? Does she even know what she truly wants? Do you? Sure, you've never thought of her as purely a friend, but romance was never on your mind either. She's a clan member, a Lin Kuei, a fellow cryomancer... there's certainly a lot you have in common, but she also has a lot of baggage. An orphan, attitude problems, and a mountain of insecurities related to you and your father...

You sigh and rub your eyes. What do you do?

>A) Attempt to pursue a relationship with Frost
>B) Frost will be friendzoned; you will not return any advances on her end
>C) Leave things as they are for now and see where they go
>D) Talk with Frost and attempt to help her get over her feelings

I feel like Zian doesn't know what he wants in that regard and would rather have her clearer headed about the whole thing before doing anything either way.
Even if we do obviously care about her in some fashion, we're still kind of shit at the whole "women" thing at any rate.

So, I'm cool with this if we get on after trying to get her to chill a little. But only if we actually get on for the most part, Tundra wouldn't be the sort to try to use her issues or be fine acting as a proxy of sorts here I don't think.
If we go for Frost I'm fine with it. I just don't want it to blow up on us, or her really, pun not intended.

Otherwise, I want to thank you all for playing this chapter of Mortal Kombat Konquest. I had a lot of fun, as always, and really enjoyed getting a chance to explore this little corner of the universe.

Next time, Kaito and Mileena venture to Shang Tsung's island to scout out a base for the New Defenders! What will they find? What crazy schemes will that kooky old sorcerer cook up? Find out next time on Mortal Kombat Konquest!

Again, I must stress that this thread isn't over yet, not until I write it a proper ending, so don't go anywhere yet! I still just wanted to thank you for playing ahead of time.

I understand where you're coming from. I think, you know, just delving into the matter, Sareena likely never trained her son in her ways out of two things/reasons: one, a desire to avoid past aspects of her life (wanting to escape her role as a demon assassin for the Brotherhood) and two, so that her son would not potentially be exploited for those same skills she could impart. She saw what happened when people in the Lin Kuei became too much like heartless assassins; we ended up with Noob Saibot.

I think it boils down to any mother's desire to not see bad things happen to her son, that's why he hasn't been trained as a stealthy, leather-clad BDSM assassin. That's not to say that it's inevitable or that she is 100% right, but she's simply trying to do best for her son.

But it's not out of the question that Tundra could willingly ask his mother to impart her knowledge to him.
>>
>>359048

>>
>>359048
Might have to do. All we have to do is counterbalance it with what we picked up from the Lin Kuei.
If nothing else, not the heartless sort, a little detached maybe, but it seems like as he's been written so far Zian pretty much has the best intentions at least.
>>
>>359069
>>359078

>Also we can always point to smoke if she feels something could go wrong.

Uncle Smoke is kind of a weirdo, though.

Like, he stares off into space a lot, and you're never really sure if he's looking right at you or if he's just staring through you.

On a serious note, yes, Sareena still knows a bit of magic. And I know, it's easy for us as the players/writer to say "sure, Tundra could learn Brotherhood assassin skills without becoming corrupt, his intentions are pure, he's a good boy" but what's important to understand is that from her perspective, she was apprehensive about teaching him about her old skill set for those reasons.

As for Noob, his time will come when he kills everyone
>>
>>359079
>As for Noob, his time will come when he kills everyone
Noob seems like the kind of guy that will never be happy. I'm sure if he killed everyone that opposed him he was just ended up disappointed. Poor Noob

I like that. I feel like he grew a bit on this journey, he's gone some distance in conquering his self-doubt, but his greatest feats along the journey were all the result of help from others. He's learned that he can be good in part of a team, but still isn't very self-sufficient yet. I think, with a little time and some more training (perhaps from his mother) he could become more in line with this.
>>
>>359082
Among other things the guy is clearly lonely. Despite everything else he did spend forever and a day just talking to his nephew.
And he goes out of his way to try to recruit him specifically.
Honestly he could have just as easily have skeedaddled with the then more powerful cryomancer to harass the Lin Kuei.

Then again what do you expect from somebody too stubborn to stay dead and so convinced of his own path that he teams up with his imaginary friend to kick other people's asses?

I mean his reasoning is skewed, he's clearly awful and everything, but he keeps coming back for the Lin Kuei and "come with me"ing folks despite having bigger things on his plate.

I figure every wraith probably has a very human motivation at it's core.

What skills does Sareena know that you can't get from already being raised by a ninja clan, anyway?

The only things she could ever do in the games are fight with knives and sickles, and a couple variations of the Shadow Kick, and her only canon special power is the ability to suck energy out of living things like a succubus and shapeshift between demon and sexy goth chick forms (which she maybe no longer has? I recall Damashi saying she's not a demon anymore, but I don't remember how she pulled that off, did she get her hands on Ashrah's sword at some point offscreen while Kaito was asleep or what?)

Frost: Talking with her but neither returning nor rejecting her fully and waiting to see how things go.

Bestla: Spending some time with her to communicate and inviting her back to the temple.

I'll write an update in just a bit.

Standing up, you leave the building and quickly locate Frost and Vapor. Andela turns towards you. “Find anything good?”

“Not really.” You look over at Frost, just out of earshot, and clear your throat. “I need some time alone with her.”

Andela picks up the tone in your voice and briefly looks at her, then back to you before saying, “…Alright. I’ll be around, I guess.”

“Thank you.” As she slips away, you approach Frost, who is busy inspecting an ice mural carved into the wall. “Frost?”

“Hm?” she replies, not really turning around.

“I, uh… I’d like to talk.”

She pauses, hearing your semi-awkward tone, and looks back. “About what?”

“Well…” You scratch the back of your head. “I’m not very good at talking about stuff like it, but…” Looking around, you find a chair and sit in it as Frost turns around and folds her arms. “It’s like this: I know you were possessed by the spirit, and how it imparted knowledge into you like it did to me, but since it took me second, I learned some… other things.”

“What do you mean?”

“Like… about you.”

Her eyes narrow a bit as she cocks a brow upwards, regarding you with equal parts suspicion and curiosity. “And…?”

“And, well, I learned a few things about how you feel. Or felt. About my father, and when you woke up, about me.”

She doesn’t immediately speak up, but continues to stare. An awkward, pregnant pause fills the room as you wait for her to reply, but when she doesn’t, you begin to worry that this may not be the right time or place to discuss this. Growing a bit nervous, you clear your throat again and move to stand up.

“And how do you feel?” she suddenly asks, still keeping herself guarded in posture. “I mean… about that?”

“I don’t know,” you answer after a few seconds. “I don’t, uh…”

“Is there anything there?” she asks. “Anything at all?”

All you can offer her is a shrug. “Again, I just… I don’t know. There’s nothing… negative, I mean. It’s just, that I, uh, never really…” Your voice trails off as you motion with your hand, but words fail you. “I like you, Frost, I do, I value you as a warrior and a clan member, but I don’t know if I---that is, I mean, I don’t---“

She sighs. “Alright. I get it.”

“No, no, you have to understand, I---“

“Look, I do understand, really,” she insists. “You’re just kind of a big, indecisive lug who can’t talk to girls to save his life.” You’re about to protest when she laughs at her own teasing. “It’s fine, Zian. Look, some things came up while we were out here, some things were said, mostly by me, but I’m… You know, I’m sorrrrr… sorry.” She forces herself to say it and then takes a deep breath. “I realize that it wasn’t you in the cave, but, well, part of me was hoping it was. I don’t know.”

“Is that what you really want?” you ask, leaving the question out in the open.

She shrugs. “If it is or it isn’t, there are better places to talk about it.”

“Exactly,” you’re quick to agree. “I didn’t mean to bring it up here, I just… I don’t know, it was on my mind and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

“I understand.”

“Maybe, after we’ve both thought about it for a while…”

“We’ll see,” she says, moving towards the exit of the room. Looking back over her shoulder with a bit of a teasing look on her face and she says, “…You big dumb lug.”

She walks out then, leaving you to chuckle by yourself and eventually follow. Things will stay the same---for now. Perhaps that is best; you two taking some time to sort out your thoughts on the matter. As for the future, well, who can tell?

After all, you’re fairly certain that you don’t know any other girls who might be interested. But since you’re finally leaving the temple and joining the New Defenders, maybe you might find a few. Or maybe you could look for some, if you decide Frost isn’t quite your kind of girl. Who knows?

>Meanwhile, in a diary in a Chicago apartment...

Dear Diary - March 5, 2012

Boring day. Had dinner with dad and mom instead of going out to see a movie - nothing good out. Thought about calling some of the girls from work but too lazy. Sitting at home watching YouTube and making hot chocolate. I've been thinking about getting a dog - maybe a lab or something that would make me more outgoing. Falling behind on jogging and too much fatty food in the fridge. What would be a good name for a dog?

Need to take the car in to the station soon. Nothing else much going on... bored. I almost miss the academy.

Dear Diary - March 9, 2012

This might be my most important entry ever, I'm so excited I can hardly write straight - I don't know where to begin! I've been to another world! I was coming home from work when a thunder god (for real!) came out of nowhere and said I was needed for a crisis in another realm, and then took me to it! It was like all those stories from the invasion that dad was in, I felt super over my head!

I wasn't trained for anything like it - there were zombie samurais and monsters and their leader was a giant dragon-man-thing, and I was part of a team led by Johnny Cage! Dad was wrong, he's super nice, and he has a daughter (but I didn't get to talk to her too much). I was scared and frightened because, I mean I'm just a desk cop, but everyone had super powers or magic weapons and we all fought a huge army of dead things and it was just out of this world, I can't even describe half of it!

The dragon-man used some kind of magic and sent me to Hawaii of all places, which was confusing at first but actually kind of nice, but then Rayden (thunder god) came and found me and brought me back. The war was over and this thief I met - Sow? Zao? Saow? I don't know how to spell his name - became a prince under the emperor, Kotal Kahn (I didn't really meet him either, he was green and intimidating!) and there was a big party with a lot of food.

Johnny Cage says that because of dad, I'm going to be on his new team, called the New Defenders, but I'm super nervous because everyone else has super powers or some kind of super military training and all I'm just a desk cop! I lied to some of them and made it sound like I was a patrol officer and that I bust a lot of bad guys. Rayden says I have "potential" but wouldn't tell me what it is, and I don't know how to call him. Do gods have phones?

And diary, I met a guy on the team and oh god I think I fell in love at first sight!! - I know how that sounds but he's just gorgeous and!! I'm getting ahead of myself. His name is Zian and his codename (he's a ninja!! an actual ninja!) is Tundra because he has ice powers! He's the son of Sub-Zero, the blue ninja from the Old Defenders, and he's tall and handsome and very polite, and he has this big scar on his face, and he has SUPER POWERS!

I tried to spend some time with him and I got to know him a bit but I was nervous the whole time and I don't know how I must have come off but I hope he didn't think I was a total creep. We took a ride on a magic boat (I can't believe that's a sentence I just wrote!) but had to leave on a quest. I wished I could go with him on an adventure but it was FREEZING cold, and the ship was attacked by a giant squid (!!) like straight out of a pirates movie.

There's just so much more that I saw and experienced but I can't stop thinking about him. He put this coat around my shoulders and I just melted. I gave him a hug and he was a little bit cold, but maybe that was just because of where we were? I wonder if he's cold all over or if he can turn it off? Are his lips cold? I get tingly all over just thinking about it. I didn’t get a phone number or an address but he might not have either…

I put my pillow in the freezer and then cuddled with it last night and it didn't feel so bad, it was just a little chilly but it warmed up. Is that weird? I'm a total creep aren't I? I hope he's alright and I get to see him again soon - if I get to stay on the team, I could spend a lot of time with him! I'm so excited! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me! - I need to call dad and tell him all about this!

Shouldn’t have called dad…

Measuring the passage of time in MK is a little weird.

Like in the original timeline, Johnny had enough time between MK1 and MK2 to make "Mortal Kombat: The Movie", his bio says the reason he went to the second tournament was to get sequel ideas, lol.

And in the new timeline, Shinnok's invasion is two years after Kahn's. All the "twenty years laters" go off of that, so it's actually 22 years after MK9.

Even in the quest, weren't there weeks to months of Kaito just wandering around Outworld between each tournament or invasion?
>>
So statistically, how likely is it that a good part of Frost's "therapy" is just learning to relax a bit because of how dense Zian is about women in general?
>>
>>361485

Personally, I take the passage of time in Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3 to take place within the span of one to two months, maybe three or five, but all within roughly the same year. Things moved quickly in the quest, and there was indeed downtime between the major events of the game's stories, but the way I wrote it had them happening as part of a series of cause-to-effect events that, while not completely back-to-back, happened in the same span of time. Due to the age of the current characters and the rough timeline of when things happened in the quest, Shinnok's invasion took place not too long after MK3's events, perhaps only within the time of a year or just a bit longer.

I probably could have avoided one or two headaches with figuring out the timeline if I had made the timegap twenty-five years instead, but I liked having the round number.

>>361501

She's a bit calmer now that she understands his position more. Patience was never a strongpoint for her.

Anyway, Bestla update incoming.

Turns out, even when you really sit down and try, communicating with a giant who speaks only in an ancient language is still very, very difficult. After returning to her cave and spending time with her, including eating some more of her simple but tasty stew, you, Frost and Vapor have been working hard at attempting to speak with her. After establishing simple terms and building up some sign language, the three of you begin to make some progress and you learn a few facts about her. Firstly, she is the last of her kind, at least the last that she knows of. Secondly, she considered herself a guardian of the lands surrounding the cryomancer city, a task given to her by her father and his father before him.

She knew very little of the curse within the city, but was glad that it was defeated. With nothing left in the city, other than the armor and books you now carry with you, you attempt to convey that she no longer need be here alone. At first she does not understand, until you manage to communicate that you have a clan of warriors who live in another land of snow far away, and that she, as one of the last few beings who can manipulate Kori energy, would be more than welcome to return with you.

“Will she even fit on the boat?” Frost asks.

“Shh,” you reply before resuming communicating with the giant.

Though it takes some effort, you eventually succeed in getting across all of the information you needed. She spends a day in thought, but eventually comes to a decision and agrees, gathering up her simple but proportionately large belongings, such as her armor, bow and axe. For the most part, you are ecstatic over this news; a frost giant for the Lin Kuei clan! Coupled with the armor, texts and the white dragon eggs you have hidden, you can only imagine how proud your father will be.

Still, Frost does make a point… It’s going to be tough to figure out how to fit a giant onboard Kaito’s boat…
>>
>>361530
How big is she exactly? I thought she was gonna be like 10 feet tall or something
>>
>>361513
Based on my knowledge of the canon, this is what I'd figured out for the games some time ago, but you can use whatever you want for the quest:

>1492 - Both Timelines: Great Kung Lao defeats Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat

>1542 - Both Timelines: Goro defeats Great Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat

>1990 - Both Timelines: MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero (Based on official comic: Scorpion claims to have been dead for 2 years in MK1)

>'90-'92 (Approx.) - New Timeline: Assumed birthdates of Kung Jin, & Jacqui Briggs (Jacqui was born before Jax died in 9 & assuming Jin is on the older side)

>1991 - New Timeline: Birthdate of Takeda Takahashi (His exact age is given in MKX)

>September 1992 - Both Timelines: MK1 / MK9 (MK1's release date)

>'93-'95 (Approx.) - Old Timeline: MK2 & 3 (Assumed but unclear, some bios allude to passage of time, MK9 was much more condensed than original games)

>1994 - New Timeline: Shinnok invades Earthrealm (2 years after MK9)

>'94-95 (Approx.) - New Timeline: Birthdate of Cassie Cage

>1999 - New Timeline: Takeda's mother dies, he joins Shirai Ryu (Age 8)

>2000 - Old Timeline: MK4 (Based on a line somewhere that Mythologies was ten years ago)

>2002 - Old Timeline: MKDA & Deception (Based on several bios stating MK1 was ten years ago)

>'02-'03 (Approx.) - Old Timeline: Armageddon

>'08-'09 (Approx.) - New Timeline: MKX Comic (Goro loses arms, Reiko Accords, Sub-Zero usurps Sektor as Lin Kuei Grandmaster, Frost joins Lin Kuei)

>2009 - New Timeline: Kung Jin joins Shaolin, Takeda completes Shirai Ryu training & joins Special Forces (Age 18), Scorpion & Sub-Zero make peace

>2014 - New Timeline: MKX

You could also say they were rounding all the "twenty years ago"s and MKX was set in 2015 when it was released, which would move all the Takeda-related points up one year.

"So, when's the next time I'll get to see you?" you ask Kaito as you step near the rowboat. Forest Fox, Kung Ling and Lex have already climbed in.

All the man can offer at the moment is a shrug. "Soon, I'd imagine. Since the team is official and all."

"Well, when are we all gonna meet up next?"

"Hard to say. I think we'll need a base, first."

"Where's that gonna be? The Special Forces base? The Shirai Ryu temple? Outworld?" you lean closer. "Johnny Cage's appartment?"

Kaito chuckles and shakes his head. "Can't say for certain. Might be one of those, might be neither. It's something I'll have to talk to Johnny about."

"Well, keep me in the loop," you say as you step to the edge of the boat."

"Will do. And say hello to Hanzo for me. Take care, Takeda!"

You give him a smile and a small friendly salute as the boat is slowly lowered into the water. It's a good thing the Dragon Wing has more than one longboat, since you dropped one off with Zian in the arctic after fighting that giant squid. Fox takes up the oars and begins to row, but then Lex, the monk studying under Bo' Rai Cho, takes up the second set and joins him.

"I can get those for you if you like," you offer.

"I'm fine, thanks," the white-haired monk replies as she looks back over her shoulder.

"I can see that," you say, observing her well-toned armed at work. You sit back and let your mind wander a bit, inadvertantly picking up some stray thoughts from the others. You try not to peer too deeply into their heads; it's an invasion of privacy, after all. But who can blame you? After all, you don't have complete control of your telepathy yet...

Hmm. Ling is thinking about Frost, curiously enough. Seems like they've made friends. Fox is serious all the time, so he's thinking about reporting to the grandmaster, no surprise there. Lex is wondering about how things are going to change in Outworld, both at Master Bo' Rai Cho's school and at Xun-Koto, Lady Yanake's city, now that the forces of Anubis up north declared support for the Dragon King. She's concerned about war in those lands.

You could probe a bit deeper, or perhaps start up some conversation. It's rather awkwardly quiet on this ship...

Lightly tapping your hands on the sides of the boat, you decide to speak up. "So! That was some party back there, huh? Who would've thought that Cao would be made a prince? I didn't even know that was legal."

"Outworld has no laws," Kung Ling deadpans, staring out over the water. "Might makes right. Kotal Kahn has the throne, Kotal Kahn decides what is 'legal' or not." She idly strokes her fingers in the water as she cups her chin and leans her elbow on the side.

"Well, I suppose nobody can argue with Jolly Green so long as he's the one in charge," you say with a smile. She doesn't really respond. "Still, from beggar thief to warrior prince. Good for him."

"Kahnzedah," Lex corrects you. "It's an older title, one that hasn't been used in a long time, since Shao Kahn was never interested in physical heirs. He assumed he would never die."

"What a shocker," you laugh.

"I am just as surprised as you are, though," Lex admits. "When I first met him, I never thought much of him."

"I thought he smelt bad," Ling says with a small chortle.

Lex clears her throat. "Still, it's an amazing reversal of fortunes for him and his sisters. But to think, he had the soul of Shao Kahn inside of him all along... He used some of its power on me in a sparring match, once, and it was overwhelming."

"Yeah, he had the soul of one of the biggest and most evil conquerors in the realms hidden inside of him. Let's make that guy in line for the throne that evil conqueror once held." Ling rolls her eyes.

"Hey, that's not really fair. He eventually told others."

"But not you," Ling says, and Lex grows quiet.

The boat grows quiet again. You notice that Fox hasn't spoken up at all. A little mind-reading tells you that he's not too interested in the conversational topic.

Cao is a new friend of yours, and as such, you feel the need to defend him a bit. Leaning over, you look past Lex and Fox and say, "Cao is a good guy. I fought a dragon with him and we killed it together. Call me crazy, but you learn a thing or two about a guy when you kill a dragon with him, and if anyone deserves to be made royalty, it's him." You then raise your brows a bit. "Have you ever fought a giant undead elder dragon? Hm?"

Your teasing seems to have roused her a bit, but she still gives off a dismissive "Tsk." She shakes her head. "I fought Goro. That's more than any dragon."

"Well, you did that with me," Lex points out. "And speaking as the other half of that battle, we didn't fight him so much as hold him off, and we didn't beat him, either."

Ling gives her friend a distasteful look. "Who's side are you on, anyway?"

"As always, the side of truth. I haven't known Cao for very long either, but I think he earned his new status through his struggle. It's like you said, might makes right, and he defeated Shao Kahn's influence on his soul."

Ling lets out a small huff. "Big deal."

You chuckle. "Yeah. 'Big deal.' Who even cares that he conquered the conqueror, am I right?"

"In case you didn't notice, many of Onaga's underlings, including Goro, escaped. I don't see why we had a party when evil like Quan Chi is free to roam the realms once more."

Lex speaks up. "Ling, I know how you and your family feel about Goro, but---"

"I don't want to talk about it, Lex!" Ling insists, and that finishes any conversation on that end.

You focus a bit more and start to read Ling's thoughts a bit more deeply, and her mind is consumed with thoughts about her father. Talking about Goro has her thinking about how, five hundred years ago, he killed the Great Kung Lao, which in turn leads her to think about her father named after him, which in turn stirs up all manner of personal issues she has with the blade-hat-wearing Shaolin Monk.

Rowing in silence, Fox and Lex reach the shore. Ling is the first to stand up and walk out onto land while Fox sets about tying the boat up.

As Lex and Fox finish up putting the oars away, you hop onto land and head after Ling, walking alongside her. You think that perhaps if you ask her directly, you'd feel less bad about reading the thoughts from her mind.

"What could Goro have done to you? Aren't you from Earthrealm?"

Without even thinking about it, almost as a reflexsive action, she uses her staff to trip you and send you face-first into the dirt. She walks a few steps forward and turns. "Whoops," she says, but you can read her thoughts and know it was anything but an accident.

"Hey, the hell is your problem, anyway?" you ask as you get up to one knee.

Almost immediately, your friends are here to intervene. Lex runs over to Ling and places a hand on her shoulder, trying to turn her away as Fox hoists you up to your feet by the arm.

Ling refuses to be turned and points the end of her red staff at you. "Let's get something straight: I'm from Outworld. I'll give Cao this, at least he isn't from Earthrealm. Not much help any of you were against Onaga at the final moment, anyway."

"He sent us away back to Earth with the Kamidogu!" you point out. "I was right there alongside you and then suddenly I was in Cuba. You try explaning THAT to the thunder god who comes to pick you up next time you're in that position."

Ling mocks a yawn. "Yes, we really couldn't have done it without you. Oh, wait, we still did." Lex again tries to dissuade her friend from this course of action, but the daughter of Lao is undeterred. Fox tries to do the same for you. "This isn't worth arguing over," he points out.

"You know what? I think you could use an attitude adjustment," you say, pushing away from Fox and walking closer to her.

She shrugs off Lex and approaches you as well until both of you are staring each other down. "Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, and a good spaking oughta do it!" you say, taking out one of your whips and pulling it tight. "And I'm just the person to do it!"

"Go ahead and take your shot, earthrealmer," she says, her grip tightening on her staff. "Or are you too afraid?"

"Me? Afraid? I think you got the wrong guy. I'm with the Shirai Ryu, and I'm not afraid of anything."

"Not even a spear shoved up your---"

"Excuse me," Lex interrupts, making you both look at her. "But is this really the best time to---"

"Yes!" you both reply at once, then look back at each other. Both of your eyes are smouldering as you stare each other down.

Then, without much warning, you both spring back; she holds up her staff as both of your whips shoot out of your arm-holsters. Both of you land, ready for kombat!

As she charges in with her staff, you activate the short-range teleportation device on your belt, instantly transmitting you behind her. Expertly throwing out one arm to allow the whip to wrap around her polearm, you yank it backwards and out of her hands, right into your own!

You then turn and swing it, smacking her butt with the staff. Her face turns bright red and Lex covers her eyes as Fox, leaning up against a nearby tree, cocks a brow.

"There's a spanking for you," you say with a smile.

She's quite livid, and holds out her hand. The staff vanishes from your grip and reappears in hers, before its head transforms into that of a curved spearhead. She then swings it back at you, intent on making you very acquainted with it!

>>364889

You barely dodge the first swing, but this only opens you up to attack as she hooks a leg behind yours and trips you again. As you fall, she spins her spear around and smacks you in the face with the blunt end before turning and planting her foot firmly on your chest before finishing her weapon-spin and pointing the sharp end at your neck.

"What's the matter? No more words or tricks?" She leans down a bit, but still keeps the weapon up at your throat. "I should have figured that an earthrealmer like you would be all show and no substance."

Pushing aside the head of her spear, you hip up and hook a leg around her waist. You then twist your body to the side, taking her down to the ground with you. You slam her in the dirt before quickly readjusting your leg and getting her into a leglock.

She immediately tenses up and struggles to escape, but has quite a bit of difficulty doing so. Her arms are still free, and she attempts to use her staff, but when you do you pull, giving her pain.

"Go on, yield!" you say.

"N-Never!" she says through gritted teeth. Again she tries to swipe at you with her staff and twist, stabbing the spearhead into the ground and using it to gain some leverage, but you have her in a perfectly ideal hold. She's not escaping until you let her.

"Say uncle!" you tell her. "Go on, say it!"

She closes her eyes, pounding her hand on the ground. "ARRRRGH! UNCLE!"

You let go and allow her to roll away. As you get back up and offer her your hand, she slaps it away, grabs her spear and storms off. Before you can say anything to her, Lex immediately steps up and puts a hand on your shoulder. "Don't," she advises. "She's just upset. She's... a bit of a sore loser. But she'll come around, I promise you."

You watch her go and kick a rock out of her path, muttering to herself.

"Well, she egged me on," you say, a bit defensively. "What's her deal with earthrealmers, anyway?"

Lex looks at her friend, seeing her leave hearing distance. "I don't mean to speak on her behalf, but she's just resentful towards her father. She's half-earthrealmer, and blames him for her mother's death."

Nearby, Fox lets out a small grunt. "Sounds familiar, doesn't it Takeda?"

You blink a few times and watch her walking away. "Yeah... Very familiar..."

Even with your mind-reading powers, how did you not ever pick up on this? She's almost exactly like you, or at least how you were only a few short years ago.

You let out a breath and nod. "Alright. I'll let her fume for a bit and trust your word." You then look at her and raise a brow. "So, what'd you think of the fight, huh?"

Lex takes her hand off your shoulder. "Erm... It was fine. But Ling isn't very strong in grappling. She uses her spear, but I have always used my fists If you tried that on me, you'd find yourself in a much worse situation."

"I'll take your word for it," you say with a smile as she walks off to be with her friend. Fox walks up, his arms still crossed. You give him a look and then ask, "Well?"

"Well what?"

"How'd I do?"

"You don't need me to tell you. You can already see for yourself. But you'd better hope that monk is right and that Ling will come around, especially if we're going to be on the same team."

"I hope so," you say as you walk with him. "But that was a good leg-grapple, right? I've been working on it."

"Sure," he shrugs.

After a short while of walking, the two of you lingering behind Kung Ling and Lex, you reach the walled city of Xun-Koto. You look over at Fox. "Have you ever seen him laughing like that?"

"No," he admits. "Should we disturb him?"

You look down as he takes another sip and then places his hand on Yanake's. It seems like a sweet moment, and it honestly warms your heart a bit that Hanzo is having such a good time despite all that has happened and is still happening.

You and Fox decide to wait until one of them is done. In the meantime, the two of you hang off to the side and perform a few stretches. Eventually, Master Hasashi excuses himself from her company, leaning over to give her a kiss on the cheek.

As he leaves, the two of you approach him and bow. "Takeda, Fox," he says, motioning for you two to rise. "What news from the west?"

There is quite a bit to report on: from the liberation of Sun Do, to the siege of Z'unkahrah, to the defeat of Onaga and the circumstances surrounding the Kamidogu and finally Cao's coronation. You handle most of the finer details while Fox lays out the overview, though of course there were moments that you two were present for individually but not together. Overall, Hanzo is pleased with the way things have gone, especially since victory was acheived.

"A curious fortune for the thief," he muses, scratching his beard. "Harboring the soul of Shao Kahn all this time... I never would have suspected it."

"He hid it well," you tell him. "I never even knew, and I'm the one who can hear thoughts." Hanzo gives you a stern look. "Uh, not that I would do so without express permission or unless it was mission critical, master. Hehe."

Afterwards, Grandmaster Hasashi explains that after the Egyptian deities attacked the city and rescued Turana, their forces retreated north to their lands. He has sent out a few scouting parties of Shirai Ryu footsoldiers and is expecting word from them soon, but he estimates that the gods are regrouping in response to Onaga's defeat. While he still is not sure the extent that their forces were allied outside of providing ships for his undead army, they are still declared enemies, having laid siege to this city and attacked its people.

He personally congratulates the two of you for your accomplishments during the siege of both Xun-Koto and Z'unkahrah. "I cannot think of finer Shirai Ryu to have on this team of New Defenders," he says with a proud smile. "Now rest. I shall summon you soon enough."

You both bow to him and leave the gardens.

With your business with the Grandmaster concluded, you part ways with Fox as he goes off to his quarters to rest. He's certainly earned it, as have you, but you aren't quite ready for bed yet. Deciding to stretch your legs with a walk, you head out of the palace, down the steps and out into the Xun-Koto streets. Things aren't very active at the moment, apart from the people cleaning up and sweeping away battle damage. With the siege over, a little life has crept back into the people, but not much in the way of markets are currently open. There are a few people out, but for the most part, the populace is still mostly indoors.

As you round a corner and pass an alley, a red staff comes out and attempts to trip you. But you don't fall for it this time and step over it, turning around with your hands raised to find Ling there, without Lex, leaning on her pole and smiling.

"Hey," she says, cocking her head off to one side. "Good reflexes... this time."

You are disarmed, somewhat, by her smile and stance. Standing up straight, you give her one of your own. "Yeah, well, you know, it comes from a life of training in the Shirai Ryu."

"I wouldn't know. I only have a life of training under Master Bo' Rai Cho," she says with a shrug. "But... perhaps I was a bit too prideful earlier. I'm sorry for the things I said."

At first, you're inclined to read her mind, but then you remember your words to Grandmaster Hasashi. If you're going to start trusting people, you can't just go invading their privacy like that. You decide to return her friendliness and reply with, "Hey, it's no big deal. I got a little heated myself."

Leaning on one leg and cocking her hips to the side, almost as if to be playfully inviting, she gives you a sheepish smile. "Yeah, well... I could use some company, if you don't mind. What do you say?"

Almost playfully yourself, you lean up against the alleyway entrance. "Well, what kind of company?"

"A kind without too much talking and a lot more touching," she says with half-lidded eyes. You find yourself quite surprised by her sudden forwardness, but not certainly not against it.

Taking a step back, however, you decide to go against your earlier decision and peer into her mind a bit. Your eyes narrow as her most prominent thoughts play out in your head.

>'...Come on, what is he, shy? Don't just stand there slack-jawed, I want you naked...'

You almost cough a bit when you hear that, making her look a bit curious.

"Are you alright?" she asks with a slightly concerned look on her face.

"Sorry, it's just, uh, what do you want to do?" you ask, trying to maintain your bearing.

>'What? Am I not making myself clear enough?'

"I'd like to spend some time with you," she says, keeping up her playful tone. "You know, get to know you a bit..."

>'Come on, come on... Maybe I need to push him harder.'

She steps a bit closer and places a finger on your chest. "You're not shy, are you?"

"No, not shy, but... Well, this is a little sudden is all," you reply with a shrug, trying to keep your cool.

>'I should make fun of his manhood.'

She flutters her eyelids a bit. "Well, if you're a bit, oh I don't know, inexperienced, I guess I understand," she says, trailing her voice off with implication aplenty. "I guess I'll just go be lonely tonight somewhere else."

She turns away, silent, but in her head she is practically chanting,

>'Bite the hook, bite the hook, bite the hook...'

You cock a brow upwards. While her outright thoughts are apparent as though she was saying them, her true motivation isn't quite as clear. Could it be that she just wants to go have some fun? Are you reading too deeply into this?

"You serious?" you ask as she walks further into the alley.

"I guess only one of us is," she says over her shoulder. "Shame it isn't you."

You follow after her. "Look, it's just, earlier you were trying to tear my head off. Not literally, mind you, but you were angry, and now what? I mean I wanted to talk to you about some stuff, yeah, but---"

She turns around and brings up her staff, pushing you up against the alley wall. "What's the matter, Takeda? Can't handle a bit of spontaneous fun?"

>'This moron just doesn't get it. I thought he'd be jumping at the chance.'

"Well, look, I---"

>'Can't believe I'm the one who has to do this.'

Taking initiative away from you, she leans up and kisses you, hard and rough. Her body presses up against yours as she leans on the staff pushed into your chest, holding you in place while she takes what she wants. For the most part you're a bit stunned by how forward she is being.

>'Never took this guy to be so timid,' she thinks. 'Come on, kiss me back already... It's like kissing a brick wall.'

Slowly, your hands come up to her waist as she attempts to deepen the kiss, skipping several levels of gradual buildup as she thrusts her tongue into your mouth, apparently eager to get right to the good stuff. Her eagerness isn't masking anything, as far as you know, but then again you aren't as adept with your telepathy as your father is. She moans into your mouth as she moves even closer against you. Her enthusiasm certainly doesn't seem to be hiding anything...

>was perfectly willing to have sex with her

Cao was actually actively resisting at the moment, to be fair. He flirted with her mostly as a joke, to be playful, but when she was dead serious all of a sudden he got flustered.
>>
At least with Cao she wasn't pretending to be another woman.

Looking back at it everybody was definitely for banging khameleon. And considering at the time we were controlling Cao I'm pretty sure we (being his brain) was all for getting down and dirty with her.

With a shrug, you throw caution to the wind and give in. She wants a party? You can give her that. Pushing back, you walk her across the alley to the other wall, now actively responding to her wild advances. She brings up a leg and wraps it around your waist as her hand grips the back of your head. She moans again as you start getting real into it, tilting your head and showing her just as much passion as she is. You stop reading her mind and start reading her lips; her body language speaks for itself.

And damn, is she fine. Master Bo' Rai Cho really knows how to pick his students and keep them thin. Can't say that last part for himself, but hey, you can't complain about this little ball of fire in your arms. She responds well to you finally giving in, holding you tight as she drops her staff and smiles. Breathing grows hot and heavy as you slide a hand down her side and take a generous grope of her rear while her thigh grinds against your side.

She pushes you back, panting a bit. "Let's go somewhere more private," she says with a bit of flirty mischievousness. Looking up, she disentangles herself from your embrace and bends over to grab her staff, purposefully giving you ample opportunity to look at her curvaceous legs and bottom. Looking back with a smile and a wink, she runs to the opposite wall and pole-vaults up onto it before kicking off and grabbing a ledge to pull herself up, working her way up to the roof.

With a smile of your own, you follow her. You could teleport, but you feel like being a bit more physical. After a few jumps, you ninja your way up onto the roof to follow her and find her waiting, urging you forward with her finger. You waste no time and grab hold of her, firmly pressing your lips against hers as the two of you make your way down onto your backs. As you move against each other, she reaches down and brazenly grabs your hardening manhood through your pants, rubbing it to get you more excited.

“Take off your clothes,” she whispers, and you’re all too happy to oblige. It takes some doing to take off your harness that holds your whips, but once that’s done you quickly shed your belt with the rest of your gear, then your sash and shirt, followed by your pants. All the while she watches, chewing on her lip, waiting for you to get done.

Pausing at your underwear, you look down at her. “Aren’t you…?”

She smiles. “You first.”

With a grin, you push it down and discard it, before kneeling down and kissing her again. She moans and you feel her hands explore your body and you do the same to hers.

“Let me,” she whispers after breaking the kiss, idly trailing her fingers down your chest. “You gave me a show, that’s only fair.”

You smile and sit back as she backs up a bit, reaching up to her shirt and thumbing the straps around her shoulders. When she does this, she pauses and smiles.

“Hey, Takeda?” she says in a throaty, flirty voice.

“Yeah?”

“Uncle.”
>>
>>366458

As quick as lightning, she then grabs all of your belongings in the bunch, stands up and runs off. Before you can protest, she jumps off the roof and back down into the alleyway.

“H-hey! WAIT! COME BACK HERE!” you shout, suddenly realizing how badly you’ve been fooled. Without so much as a single shred of clothing left, you jump down and land on your feet, chasing her through the alley, but when she rounds a corner and out into the marketplace, you pause out of a desire to not be seen running naked through the streets. She gets away, vanishing across the street as several people walk by whom you hide from. It's still only early evening; people are out and about, and it'll be five or so hours before dark.

Taking a few breaths, you calm down and slap your forehead.

“Oh, you bitch…” you mutter. “It’s SO on.”

But now what? She’s got your clothes, all of your gadgets, your teleportation belt, even your weapons. Hell, when you took them off you even put them in a neat pile so you could get them after the deed was done; that made it all the easier for her to just grab them and run off. What would your clan members say? What would Grandmaster Hasashi say if he found out you got seduced out of your clothes and were seen running around naked? Christ, what would Kaito think if he heard about this? You’ll never live it down!

‘Stupid, stupid, stupid,’ you slap your head a few times. ‘I swear, when I get my hands on her…’

Time to go full man mode. Run through the city covering your junk. While doing this read the surface thoughts of civilians to find out if they saw a scantily clad woman with a staff running through the streets. This is the true test Takeda. I'm sure your dad would have a hearty laugh and approve.

As you dash through the alley, keeping your hands firmly planted over your junk, you stay low and look in both directions to ensure nobody is out in the street before runnng across the road as fast as you can into another alley. Once there, you pant heavily and catch your breath before doing the same.

You aren't sure what your end goal is, exactly. You already lost your clothes and sight of their thief, and as luck would have it, you can't find any replacements conveniently hanging out. At least not in the two alleys you've looked in, but the nearest options would almost immediately result in people seeing you.

'Damnit, Takeda, how did you end up in this situation? You even read her mind! She said she wanted to get you naked! You have no one to blame but yourself for not knowing that what she really meant was, 'I want to get him naked to steal his belongings!' This is bad, this is bad, this is bad... I might just swear off Outworld girls for good after this!' You pause for a moment. "Ah... who am I kidding, no I won't."

You steal a look outside the alley again, seeing some people with their backs turned. Taking the risk, you dash across the street at a 45-degree angle into another alley. Here, you manage to find a low-hanging sheet that you reach up to grab, but when you do, someone comes around the corner. By the grace of whatever sick deity is watching and laughing, it's not a total stranger, but rather Lex.

"Oh, by the Elder Gods, what the hell are you doing, Takeda?"

You quickly cover yourself back up and are quick to explain. "It wasn't me! It was Ling! She tricked me and made off with my clothes!"

Lex places a hand on her hip and looks you up and down, cocking a brow as she asks, "And how did she do that, I can only wonder?"

"Come on, the details aren't important! I need help!"

A smile forms on her lips. "She seduced you, didn't she?"

"Well if I had known she was a damn succubus, I wouldn't be in this situation!"

Lex laughs and waves a hand. "Oh, come now, she's just playing a prank. She did the exact same thing to me once at Master Bo' Rai Cho's school."

"Well, that's hardly..." You pause as you think about her words. "Wait, now when you say the 'exact' same thing..."

"The circumstances were a bit different, obviously. She's not angry or trying to actually be hateful towards you, this is just her idea of fun."

"Well I'm not having fun! And you have been talking to me for far too long while I'm in this state! Now, are you going to help me or not?"

"Oh, calm down. I'll help you. We just need to hide you until I can get some clothes for you, maybe a robe from the market or something..."

Another idea springs to mind. Approaching her, you give her your best look and say, "Well, I know someone who has some clothes she could spare..."

You let go of your junk and bring up your hands.

Her initial surprise gives way to quick reaction as she grabs your wrists, twists them behind your back and then pushes you up against the nearby wall. She holds you there, gripping your arm tightly as you let out a squeal of protest as your naked body is forced against the stones.

"Now, I know you weren't just trying to touch me with hands seconds after cupping your privates, now were you?"

"Uh, n-no!" you say. "Honest!"

She twists your arm a bit more as she leans up against your back. "You think you can just seduce me out of my clothing? What do I look like, you?"

"Okay, okay! I get the point!"

She doesn't let go and instead squeezes a bit more tightly. "This isn't an uncomfortable position for you, is it?" she asks with a smile, leaning her body up against yours as she twists your arm a bit harder. "You know, I hear that some guys really like being tied up or forced into... compromising situations."

"N-not me!" you say, gritting your teeth.

You can feel her breath on your ear as she whispers, "Say uncle."

"Uncle!" you say without hesitation, and she lets you go. She giggles to herself as you cover yourself up. "What's the big deal with you and Ling and this 'uncle' thing? Are you two in on this together?" You look around, seeking her out if she is watching.

"No, no, I just got it from you after all," she says after another fit of giggling. "Now, to show you that I'm not a poor sport, I'll give you my clothes."

You pause. "...All of them?"

"You wish," she smiles. She proceeds to remove the outer layer of her outfit, the orange and yellow portions (leaving her with the brownish-greenish underclothing), before handing them to you. For your benefit, she turns around as you slip them on, trying to make the best out of her clothing. You still don't have any shoes or an effective shirt, but at least your dangly bits aren't showing.
>>
>>367719

Afterwards, she turns around and smiles upon seeing you in her clothing. "This is absolutely delicious," she laughs.

"Yeah, yeah, yuk it up. You know, if I had my gear on me, you wouldn't have pinned me so easily."

"Maybe one day we'll just see about that," she says. She gives you another look up and down. "I think you look rather dignified."

"Very funny. Now, we have to find Ling. I don't think you know how expensive that stuff she took is, but it cost a lot and if my clan finds out I lost it, I'll never hear the end of it."

"Well, for your sake then, I hope she didn't go straight to your grandmaster."

"Do you think she did?"

"Well, no. The last time she stole my clothes while I was bathing, I found her with them on."

"You're telling me she could be out there, right now, cosplaying as me? That's even worse! If the others find out---"

"Oh, will you be quiet? You're so worried about something that might not even happen. Ling likes to play pranks, but she doesn't like to ruin lives. It's harmless fun."

"You Outworld girls are making me feel a bit harmed if I'm being honest."

Stepping out of the alley with Lex, you begin walking with her as you search for Ling.

"So, you said she did this to you once before?" you begin a new conversation. When she nods, you then ask, "How did you get your clothes back from her, anyway?"

She looks over and flutters her eyelids. "I tracked her down, wrestled her to the floor and tore them off of her body before making passionate love to her."

Halting in place, you swallow the sudden lump in your throat and stutter, "You... You..."

She laughs before clamping her hand over her mouth. "You should see the look on your face!"

"You shouldn't joke about that, you'll give me the wrong impression about how things go down at that school of yours."

"I've heard about how easily swayed you earthrealmers can get when it comes to women. Don't feel too bad; it's mostly the same for outworlders, too."

"You know, I was starting to think you're aesexual. I can't pin down the vibe you're giving off."

"I'm what? A sexual what?"

"Nothing. So what did you actually do to her to get your clothes back?"

"I just found her and she gave them back. She was hiding, though. I think finding her is just half of the game; she just put on the clothes while she was waiting out of boredom. Might end up being the same thing with you. Then again..."

You wait for her to finish, but when she doesn't, you ask, "Then again...?"

"Well, we'll just have to see when we find her."

You peer into her mind.

>"I just hope she hasn't sold them..."

'Oh, if she did, she'll get more than her money's worth, I promise you!' you think.

You start to steer her towards the markets.

"Say... When she took your clothes last time, she didn't try to, oh, I don't know, get rid of them at all, did she?"

"No, why?"

"Well, it's just that my gear is rather valuable. She isn't hard on cash, is she?"

"Cash?"

"Koins, sorry."

"No, I don't think so."

"So you don't think she'd try to sell them?"

"No... No. I don't think so. I think she's just trying to have fun with---"

Suddenly, a stick is thrown down from a nearby roof. You look up at a nearby roof and see Ling, wearing your outfit! She has the skull-mask over her mouth and your outfit, while a size large for her (except in the hips and chest area, that is) makes it seem baggy, it's the whips hanging off of her arms that really sell the "I stole this" look.

She's also wearing your yellow headband!

"Hey, look at me! I'm Takeda!" she says, flopping her arms and the whips on them around. "I like to run around naked!"

She then runs off. It'd be cute if those weren't your high-end gadgets and Shirai Ryu colors she was wearing.

"That's just immature," you say.

"I think she wants you to chase her," Lex points out.

"Oh, she'll get a chase alright!" You run up to a nearby building and begin scaling it.

Quickly getting back up on the rooftops, you chase after her. She runs ahead of you by quite a head start, but you begin to gain on her.

When she jumps down into an alley, you follow her, landing right in her trap. She kicks out a block and activates a counter-weight that pulls a snare around your leg tight. You suddenly find yourself hanging upside-down by the leg in the alley like an idiot.

Ling jumps down nearby and looks at you. She approaches and puts her hands on her hips.

"Having a bad day?" she asks, obviously amused.

"Okay. Fine. Is there a point you'd like to prove?"

"Not really, but I am having fun. Aren't you?"

"So, was all that kissing just fake, then?"

"No, the kissing was real. You felt it, didn't you?"

"I meant the emotions! Just playing with someone's emotions? For shame."

She smiles. "Reading people's minds without letting them know? For shame."

"Wait... I never told you that I could---"

"No, you didn't, but I have my ways."

"Wait... Are you a telepath too?!"

"No, sadly for you."

"Then how did you figure it out? Seriously?"

"That's my little secret." And when you narrow your eyes and focus, you hear her thoughts.

>'And I'm not going to slip up and reveal how.'

"Oh, very cute," you say. You then look up at your leg and then back to her. "You know, if you're going to keep looking, I should probably start charging for time. Is this how Outworld dating goes?"

"Not usually," she says, summong her staff and then using its magic to transform the head into a spear. She stabs upwards and cuts you loose, letting you fall down.

You get back up and rub the back of your head. "Alright. I'll admit that I underestimated you, but still, these are some dirty tricks you played today."

"Well, I would only expect you to respond in kind."

"What? You mean, like a prank war?"

"Something like that."

You give her a half-smile and hold up your hand. "Alright. Deal."

She shakes your hand and gives you a smile back.

"So... When do I get my clothes back?" you ask her.

"When you can actually catch up."

She then presses the button on your belt and teleports away in a flash of orange light before you can grab her again. "Damnit! How do you even know how to work that thing!? Get back here! When I get my hands on you..."
