Hello, and welcome to Pilot Quest. I don't have any other name for it at the moment and it's the first quest I've run. As such, I'm going to warn you that you it probably won't be the best thread on the board. But if all goes well then I'll continue it and probably ask you to help flesh out the coming story. In any case, let's begin!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You always hated dawn patrol. The guys in aircraft control were almost always tired, either because they had been up for hours or had only just got up. The patrols seemed longer than usual and by the time you had landed, most of the coffee had been taken by other pilots that had just gotten up. In any case, the sunrise was always pretty. The beauty of the break of dawn was only amplified when flying.

Your wingmate, who was fresh from training, was just bad at his job. Everything he did just grated against your nerves. His insistence to stay extremely close to you was just the worst part. In the unlikely event that you had to go defensive then you were sure that he would slam straight into you.

"Hey Zeus, you still awake back there?" You ask your co-pilot over the fighter's internal comms.

"Yeah, I'm here boss." Zeus responded, you could tell that he was nose-deep in one of his Japanese comics from how distracted he sounded.

"Zeus, what did I tell you about bringing your comics on flights?" You asked rhetorically, Zeus's irritated sigh showed that he remembered the last time they had had this conversation.

Coincidentally, you had had that conversation last flight, and the flight before that.

"Don't worry about it Razor, I'm monitering comms traffic and if we need to intercept something then I'll put it away." Zeus replied. A glance over your shoulder, past your seat, showed that Zeus was still reading his comic. The picture of what you assumed was a woman, posing provocatively, was plastered on the front cover of the comic.

"Warrior flight, you have 2 friendly contacts moving to intercept you. Looks like they want to dance" The semi-awake sound of of the air officer back in the tower came across the comms. A quick glance to the radar showed them coming in from your 1. You still had a bit of time before you had to merge, good for Zeus, he would have enough time to put his comic away and get everything up and running.

And time for you to decide how you would fly this.

>[] Fly aggressively, you were flying one of the older birds. While she lacked the upgraded electronics of the newer birds, she was far more powerful and you were more confident flying her.
>[] Fly passively, you might be confident in your confident in your abilities, but your wing mate is too new for this. If you fly more passively then it should be easier for his to stay on you.
>>

I don't want this nugget doing something stupid and either damaging our plane, or that of the friendlies.
Better make sure that he knows they're friendlies and doesn't shoot them by accident.

We have a tie, one more vote for either choice will be the deal breaker.

You wrap your hand around the throttle, the power of your fighter jet's two after burning engines at your fingertips. You think about flipping on the afterburners and smoking the two aircraft who dare challenge you.

But then you remember that you have Captain Slow flying on your wing, no matter how the guys in fighter training taught him, he didn't have the experience to help him pull weight in this fight, even if it was just a mock dogfight. Sighing, you switch frequencies and begin barking instructions.

"Alright kid, we've got 2 contacts coming in on our 1 o'clock. We're going to have a nice clean dogfight with them, just like when you were back in training. You are going to follow my lead and don't fuck up. You get me?" As your fighter's systems come online, you look over at your wing mate to see him peel back to combat spacing. Good, he actually remembered his training.

Deep down, you hope that he's smart enough to know how to improvise. Else you'll loose in a heartbeat.

"Attention unidentified aircraft, descend to 10,000 feet and reduce speed to 200 knotts or you will be shot down!" The voice of the pilot of one of the incoming aircraft filled your ears as they enter visual range. Two tiny specks on the horizon, silhouetted against the rising sun.

You can feel the pressure, you know that people are making bets on who's going to win.

>[] Play their game, you can hopefully reverse it on them when they get closer.
>[] Gain altitude on them and get ready to dive on them. Hopefully you can bounce them.
>[] Go in nose-first. If you get them on the first pass then you can end this without putting the nugget through too much. But they might expect that.

You flip on the afterburners, jam the throttle forward and yank the stick back in one smooth motion. Your jet responds smoothly as gallons of fuel are pumped into the engines, sending a fiery streak many meters in length out of the engine's nozzles. As you climb you look back over your shoulder to find that your wing mate has dropped back by a dozen or so meters.

You find that the 2 incoming jets are climbing to intercept you. Their angles of attack gently rising as they track upwards to keep on course.

As they get to about 5k out, you cut the afterburners and roll your bird on her back, angling towards the lead fighter. They know what you are planning and scatter, the lead aircraft banks hard right while his wing mate breaks left.

>[] Go after the leader, the wing mate is less experienced so the nugget should have a good chance for a "kill".
>[] Go after the wing mate. His lack of experience should make him an easy kill. All the nugget has to do is keep the other aircraft busy.

This isn't to actually kill, this fight is to get experience so that when we are in combat for real, the nugget isn't dead weight.

"Go for his wing mate, he's breaking left. I'll keep the leader off you." You instruct the nugget as you dive after the leader. "This is your chance kid, don't fuck up." He responds wordlessly, simply breaking off you and accelerating after the wing mate, who is turning to try and support his leader.

The leader passes into your boresights for a split second, before he banks hard right, cutting in right underneath you. You roll onto your back again and pull the stick into your gut, pulling up as hard as you could, bleeding airspeed is seconds.

This puts you in a precarious situation as the lead aircraft continues his turn on full afterburners, coming in fast and forcing you to roll to the left to avoid him. You banked left and he banked right, both of you trying to converge on each other on full afterburners. Had this been a real dogfight than you both would have shredded each other by now with your cannons. But in order to score a "kill" you had to keep someone locked for 5 seconds.

Both of you continue your rolling scissors while you contemplate how to break the deadlock.

>[] Continue with the rolling scissors, all you need to do is keep him distracted long enough for your wing mate to "kill" his wing mate.
>[] Break out and try to get on his tail some other way.
>[] Climb! You have the power, let's see if he can follow you.

If the kid is able to take down the enemy leader's wingmate, that is.

If that's an F-15 we're fighting, and we're in an F-14, we most assuredly do NOT have the power to climb him. And we won't be outmaneuvering him if he has a competent pilot.

>[]Break out and try to get on his tail some other way, and wonder why Command has us in a retired airframe that was already notorious for being poorly maintained.

Or could you give us some context on how this world differs from ours? Starting a quest without much setting info is kind of setting up players to fail, Dunderhead.
>>
>>363031
Meh, I'm just using F-14 and F-15 pics as placeholders. This is after all just a test thread to see if this quest would work.

I haven't done much world building as I want to leave that up to the players.
>>
>>363035

If you're not even gonna let players pick the plane, stick with one or the other. Also no worldbuilding beforehand? Bad idea.
>>
>>363065
I am planning on letting players pick their aircraft, obviously there are limits, for instance you can't pick to be part of the US navy and decide to fly Tornadoes. And once they choose an aircraft they will be stuck with it until the aircraft is destroyed (and even then they might just get the same aircraft as a replacement).

I do have some some world building done for some scenarios, but ultimately it will be the player's choice.

You and the other aircraft continued the rolling scissors for a few more minuites, neither of you managing to get a clear advantage. But as time passed you realised that all of your current tactics were failing, whatever you did to try and get on his tail agressively would just cause him to re-position and bring himself back into position. It occoured to you that the lead pilot was doing the exact same thing you were, stalling to keep you from interfering with the duel between both of your wing mates.

Which meant that the nugget wasn't fighting someone with equal skills, he was fighting a far more experienced opponent.

With this sudden realisation came a renewed effort to get out of this deadlock. An idea quickly came to your mind, one that would involve Zeus pulling his weight.

"Zeus, look at that bandit. Does he have a co-pilot?" Zeus didn't answer immediately, instead waiting for a couple of seconds to get a better look at the lead fighter.

Or he was securing his comic, you could never tell without either a mirror, or looking over your shoulder.

"Yeah, he's got an RIO. Or WSO, not sure which. But they are looking right at us, likely telling the pilot what we're doing." Zeus responded as the jets crossed each other again.

This was all you needed to know. As the planed rolled back towards each other you executed your plan, cutting the engines to idle and extending all flaps and air brakes. Zeus grunted as multiple g's of force slammed into the pair of you with the rapid deceleration.

But the plan worked, the lead fighter rocketed in past you, unable to compensate for your sudden deceleration. He tried to pull up vertical and dive on you, but you cut under him and managed to get on his tail.

"Hey! Can I get some help here?!" Your comms came alive as the slightly panicked voice of your wing mate called for aid. A quick glance over confirmed your suspicions, despite his original advantage, the enemy pilot had managed to outmanoeuvre your wing mate and get him on the defensive.

Shit, if they got a kill then you would NEVER live this one down.

>[] Try and kill the lead aircraft before they killed our wing mate.

"Hold on, I'm on my way." You respond as you dipped beneath the lead fighter, safely out of site of his co-pilot you broke away and gunned it towards your beleaguered wing man. All things considered he was doing a great job at keeping out of the bandit's boresights, but he wasn't making any attempts to get out of his predicament.

"Listen up nugget, change your heading to bearing 231, try to keep the bandit on your tail." You instructed calmly, thankfully your wing mate remembered his bearings and quickly lead his pursuer on.

"Zeus, where's the lead fighter?" You asked as you prepared to tail the opposing wing man.

"He's going the opposite direction, looks like he thinks we're still behind him." Zeus replied smugly, and you had to admit that things were going perfectly. The only question was how you were going to end it?

>[] Get the bandit off your wing mate's tail and let him take the kill.

You contemplate how easy it would have been to take the kill for yourself. All you would have had to have done is line up on the bandit's tail and light him up with your radar for 10 seconds. There was no way that the lead bandit would be able to realise his mistake and get back within "range" before you had claimed your 6th kill.

But then the nugget would have left with no kills, and this was the best time to get him one. With your mind set up, you came up directly behind the enemy bandit and flipped your radar on.

The results were immediate, the bandit immediately broke off your wing mate and went evasive. While he was a bit hard to follow through the first few maneuvers, you were able to predict his repetitive maneuvers and stayed on his tail. Your wingmate eventually formed up just behind you.

"Razor! The lead bandit is coming in!" Zeus yelled. You didn't need to look as you broke off the bandit you were tailing to intercept the incoming lead.

"Nugget, this is your kill. Just follow his patterns and you'll keep on him." You comm to your wing mate as you merge with the incoming bandit. All you needed to do was distract them, and you have a great plan.

At the last second, you bank hard to the right and present your tail to the lead bandit, and sure enough he takes the bait. following you with his radar on. You count down the seconds until your wing mate gets his ten second lock. You bank hard right, then reverse the motion by banking left. Keeping the lead bandit from getting a lock. As the final few seconds tick away, you look out of the canopy towards your wing mate.

And watch helplessly as an AIM-9 rockets off his bird, and streaks towards the bandit.

The bandit immediately responds to the launch, rolling hard right and dumping flares in an attempt to spoof the missile. And he succeeded.

For a second.

The missile, unable to track so many targets went haywire. It lanced through the air and slammed into the bandit's right wing, blowing most of it clean off. The force of the explosion knocked the aircraft to it's side, sending it into a dive.

"CEASE FIRE! CEASE FIRE!"" The authorative call from the air officer was the final say as all 3 remaining fighters switched off their radars and weapon systems. But all eyes were on the damaged bird.

The jet dropped thousands of feet, the pilot managed to get control of his aircraft and began to gradually level off. The aircraft responded remarkably in it's damaged state. The pilot managed to level off just above 10.000 ft hard deck. His flight lead diving to form up with his damaged comrade.

"Warrior flight, what the hell happened up there?!" The air officer demanded from his perch in the tower. "Actually, you know what? Form up with Venom flight and RTB. The commander is going to want to know."

Before you could try and protest the line went dead. This was terrible news. The base commander was known to be a fun hating, by the books style officer. There would definitely be repercussions for this, hell, there was a chance they would all be grounded, or even loose their wings.

You form up behind venom flight, with you holding position to the 4 o'clock behind the damaged aircraft with your wing mate on your 4 o'clock.

"Warrior 3-1 to Venom flight, do you read?" You switch you comms to directly contact Venom flight. And are rewarded as a response comes through almost imminently.

"Warrior 3-1, this is Venom 2-1. Reading you loud and clear." Venom 2-1 responded, his voice sounding like a mix between frustration and concern.

"Venom 2-1, how's your wing mate doing?" Razor asked tentatively. He could clearly see the damage to the damaged aircraft. Most of the wing was gone, and while the aircraft was flying relatively well now he had no idea if it would stay that way.

"Aside from the whole missing wing thing, he's doing well. Engine 1 is working well but engine 2 is smoking due to shrapnel damage. Aside from that nothing else is wrong. All of their remaining control systems work and neither of them were injured. Though they're running low on fuel due to ruptured tanks and having burned through most of their fuel during that little fur ball." Venom 2-1 paused for a second before continuing, his voice now noticeably more annoyed.

"Say, just what in god's name was going through your wing mate's head? It takes a real concentrated amount of stupid to shoot one of your own buddies." Venom 2-1 asked.

"I don't know. We think that it might have been a technical failure, if not that then it could have been an accidental launch." You answer back as you look over at your wing mate. You were never any good at body-language. But you can tell that he's worried. Accidentally hitting a friendly with a missile during a training fight was a terrible way to introduce yourself.

"Well then, you better find out. 'Cause if you don't have your story straight when we meet the boss then both of you can say goodbye to your wings." Venom 2-1 cut the line before you could respond.

You decide to follow Venom 2-1's advice and switch frequency to talk with the nugget.

"Nugget. You-" You try to talk to your wing mate but he cuts you off.

"Sir! A-are they ok? Is everything going to be alright with them?" Your wing mate starts blabbering, the shock and worry is obvious in his voice.

"Calm down kid. They're fine." You manage to get out before he can continue on. "Aside from the wing damage, all they suffered was some fuel tank damage and minor engine damage."

The kid audibly sighed with relief as he was told the news. An invisible burden was taken off his shoulders.

"I'm more interested in what the fuck was going through your head when you launched that missile." You drag the conversation back to the matter you called about. "Just what the hell happened?"

"I don't know sir." He responded bluntly. "I followed him with my radar on just like in training, and when in pressed the launch button it fired an sidewinder."

You sit there wondering for a minute if he was born retarded or if it was an acquired skill, before asking the most pressing question.

"Why the FUCK did you think you had to press any fucking buttons?" You practically yell through the comms. The nugget stutters for a few seconds before you continue. "When you do shit like this, range computers monitor your radar. And declare a kill when you meet the criteria. You don't need to fire a damn thing!"

The nugget continues spluttering for a few seconds before finally deciding that it's better to not argue.

"Look. When we get on the ground, we are going to have the base commander on our ass. And you are going to have to own up. I'll try and argue in your favour but you're going to have to accept whatever judgement he makes. Do you understand?" You calmly explain. The comms are silent for a couple of seconds before your wing mate responds.

"Yes sir" Is all he says to you for the rest of the trip back.

You switch your comms to the internal channel between you and Zeus and sigh.

"We're boned." Zeus casually says, you know he's thumbing through that comic without even looking over your shoulder.

"No we're not Zeus." You respond, lightly banking the jet away from Venom 2-2's stricken wing.

"Really? You and I both know that this is the exact opportunity that the commander has been looking for. If we aren't permanantly grounded then we'll probably be sent off to some shit detail. Like Alaska, or Europe." Zeus ranted on as you make ready to land, bringing the landing gear out on setting the flaps.

"We weren't involved in the missile launch, that's solely on the nugget's head. And in any case I still don't get why you hate europe." You bring the jet into a holding pattern over the airbase. Emergency responders, firefighters and the likes, are moving to emergency positions as Venom flight makes their final approach.

"You know that he won't get us for that. He'll get us for having a mock dogfight without prior permission." Zeus remarked absentmindedly as Venom flight landed. Venom 2-2's damaged bird couldn't even take the strain of landing, and the gear collapsed just 100 meters after first touching the ground. The pair of them sighed as the ATC diverted the to the base's second runway.

"You and I both know that many other pilots do it and he doesn't take their wings. It would be hypocritical for him to do that to us." You state as you make your way towards the second runway.

"It's not just that Razor. It's the tower buzzing, the low level dogfights and on-base shenanigans that you always do. If he has a chance to get us out of his hair then I'd bet my life that he'll take it." Zeus summed up as you make your final approach. The jet's wheels kissing the sun-warmed tarmac.

"You may have a point there Zeus, but if he wanted to get rid of us then he's had many excuses." The nugget manages to just about pull ahead and get on the taxi-way first. But you are in no rush. Who ever rushes to get yelled at anyways?

"In any case. Our continued careers are dependent on the commander being in a good mood. So don't make any more snarky comments please?" Zeus snorts as you taxi into your hanger, the pair of you finish shutting down the aircraft and dis-embark.

As you climb out you are meet by a platoon of marines. From what you can tell it looks like most of them are there to stop venom flight's chief engineer from beating your entire flight to death. All 4 of you, including Zeus, the Nugget, His co-pilot and you, are bundled into the back of a truck and whisked away. And less than 10 minutes after touching down, you are all in the commander's office. Also occupying the room was the members of Venom flight. He commander finished his call and sighed and looked at the assembled group of pilots, his eyes rested on you.

"So, today has barely started, and already we have to write off a jet." He started in slow, measured sentences. "Care to say why?"

Nobody answered for the first few seconds, nobody wanted to be the target or the commander's inevitable rage. So you took the initiative and spoke up.

"We decided to have an informal training exercise, to get the new guy a bit more expirience." You began, the commander's cold, piercing stare was fixed him.

"And then what happened pilot?" The commander asked, his voice obviously straining.

"And during said informal training exercise someone accidentally launched a sidewinder that tracked after the closest aircraft." You continue, the commander's rage becoming more and more obvious with every word you said. "No aircraft was lost, but Venom 2-2 suffered serious damage."

The commander paused for a few seconds to process what he had just heard as you braced for the coming shit-storm.

"I know, I was watching from the ground... and while it took outstanding piloting skills, to keep up with Venom Lead. But you just don't GET IT!"

The commander slammed is fist into the desk with a colossal thud. While it may have been intimidating to other pilots, you and Zeus had been here enough times for it to have little to no effect on you.

"You just don't get it, that bird doesn;t belong to you! It belongs to the government, bought with tax payer money. It's there to protect our country, not let you pull whatever stunts you want!" The commander continued yelling, his voice growing more hoarse from the constant exertion. "What is up with you? If I had a list of every little misdemeanour you had ever done it would be the height of the ACT!"

The commander paused to reach under his desk, probably reaching for a dismissal form, when the nugget spoke up.

"It wasn't his fault sir. I launched that missile." The commander simply paused, and looked up at him.

"I know that kid. And I'll get on with you later." The commander finally retrieved the notepad he had been looking for and placed it on the desk. "You are all being charged with wasting materials, disobeying direct orders from a superior officer and engaging friendly pilots. I'll deal with all of you one at a time. Venom flight and Warrior 3-2 will wait outside."

The rest of the assorted pilots saluted and walked outside. Leaving you and Zeus alone with the commander.

The commander did nothing for a good 5 seconds, before reaching into his desk and pulling out a pair of forms. "Looks like I can finally get rid of you two vermin." he said as he tossed the forms on the desk. You recognised them imminently.

They were transfer forms.

I enjoyed the read wasn't actually able to play but you've got some good characters and what appears to me as a layman as a solid grip on dogfights.

I'd like to see more of it but where do you want to take the quest? It doesn't seem like we could put a request on the transfer forms we're handed
>>
>>364925
At the moment the only things I have confirmed down is that the tech-levels are around late 80s to early 90s. And that the main character is being sent to a new unit.

I'm open to suggestion about what to do next, as while I have an idea about what to do next. I want as much player feedback as possible. Including possible plot points in the future and other features to add (within reason of course). This is the point in the quest where anons can put in their suggestions for what they want to see in the coming threads.
>>
>>364951

Well if your running historically too then it wouldn't be unreasonable to get caught up in the first Iraq War. I personally would like to see epic dogfights but the time period isn't the best for them. Would also be fun to run some close support for ground troops though. As far as where we're sent to I actually liked the little joke about Alaska, I'd be down to get sent there.

If you're not worried about historical accuracy maybe we get sent to Alaska and Russia decides to finally move on us but forgoes the nuclear option.

That was something I was considering. But I'm not very good with politics, so it would be hard to find a reason why the Soviets would try something like that. But I defiantly like the idea.

Onto something else, what do you think about the few characters we've seen thus-far? Would you like to keep Zeus as your co-pilot, or would you prefer to ditch him and either get a new co-pilot or switch out to single seat aircraft.

Well, just a thought from the top of my head, after the failed Soviet invasion of Afghanistan they worried they were losing too much face and started being more aggressive in the surrounding areas. This aggression caused the US to pump more resources into NATO and the Iron Curtain accelerating their containment idea. Tensions mount and hate builds until finally US operative teams start to get into firefights with Soviet troops. Russia decides that they don't want America to choose the footing they start the war on and strikes out to secure vital resources for their war efforts. Boom WW3, it would be interesting to see this build up and explosion from the perspective of a pilot sitting on the doorstep to Russia.

I like Zeus, even with the little that we've talked to him there's enough of an implied relationship to make it dynamic. It would be fun to run into the commanding officer down the line again. Seems almost like a buddy-cop movie but without the overwhelming crisis that forces the CO to keep us on hand despite the havoc that is sometimes raised. He knows we're good and even acknowleged it now we just need the overwhelming crisis

I like that idea, although I think that there is way where the player could be a part of the operation that brings about WW3, possibly covering a defecting soviet pilot? Or alternately covering a spec-ops mission gone wrong.

Another question: As we're most likely going to be settling on an American character (or at least someone serving in the US armed forces). What would you prefer, that the MC be USAF or USN? Remember that at this time ATF and NATF are both in development so there are chances for both groups to have stealth fighters (eventually). But each side has their own advantages and possible places where you could be deployed. For instance, USAF would be more set in europe, battling the bulk of the fairly modern and well trained Soviet army. Meanwhile the USN would be more focused on the east, including things happening off near Alaska and Japan.

Down with either of those ideas, especially if we don't have much of an idea of the shitshow we're sent into.

Honestly that's a tough choice for me. The European Theatre would have more run in with allied forces which is always fun. Whereas the Pacific Theatre would mostly be held by the US and Australia but I feel like it would be more dynamic as far as deep strikes, crossing the artic circle, and possibly even being downed above the jungles of SE Asia.

I vote USN because the Pacific and SE Asia doesn't seem to be a popular quest area and I feel like there is room for development and adventure there.

(I really wish someone else was in here to vote as well)

I prefer the USN theatre as well, just because of the scenarios that could be made up. But ultimately, I really think that it's going to be pretty cool.

Just one more thing that I want to ask: How would you feel about female fighter pilots being included in the upcoming unit? Historically speaking it would have happened already, so it's defiantly possible, I just want to get the player's opinion so that it doesn't look like I'm trying to shoe-horn unrealistic things.

I also really wish that there was other people here. I really appreciate you still being here though.

>>365439
I personally think it would be cool if we got sent somewhere where we are forced to use older, slightly outdated equipment like an F4 Phantom. I'm pretty sure the US wasn't using them anymore at that point though, which kind of kills that idea. (Unless we get transferred to some kind of multinational unit that makes use of all NATO aircraft.)
>>
>>365397
I prefer the spec-op mission gone wrong. As for USAF or USN, that is a pretty tough choice. I think I prefer the USAF mostly because of the planes.
>>
>>365484
I'm completely down for having female pilots. A diverse cast is an interesting one. Plus we can fight over which one is best girl.
>>
>>365507
Yes, waifu wars are always a good idea.
>>
>>365484

Women are fine by me, inevitably there will be some waifuing but so long as it's not fueled it's easy to manage and adds another dynamic to character interactions.

>>365485

I think your best bet there is the USN, they're a whole hell of a lot less willing to drop their planes because of an older design so long as they do the job they need them to do. I think in this universe though there will be some return of mothballed planes after a little while, no fight with a more updated and cohesive Soviet Bloc is going to be easy. Maybe if we lose our plane on a mission the replacement we get for a little while is a more outdated plane.
>>
>>365485
That could be something shoe-horned into the USN side, what with the USN re-activating as many WW2 era island bases as possible. It only makes sense that older birds would get pulled out of boneyard to plug the gaps. Though that would require thing to go wrong.
>>365486
If you prefer USAF just because of the aircraft then some could probably be integrated into the USN theatre, as a number of USAF fighters featured emergency arrestor systems.

Also, at the moment it's a 1-1 tie between defector and spec-ops. So maybe you'll get your wish.
>>365507
I had figured as much it just isn't a quest without a good old waifu war

Also, welcome to the after thread planning.
>>
>>365563

Who's got the vote for the defector? Cause if it came down to a vote I am pulled for the spec-ops mission extraction and cover
>>
>>365747
Can't find the comment, maybe I just misread a post.

Yeah, we'll settle on the spec-ops mission.
>>
Can you link the new thread here when its up?
>>
>>367276
Sure. It will probably will be up in an hour or so
>>
>>367771

Yo OP, you alive?
>>
>>368602
Yep, I'm just running through some characters, bases and aircraft.

BTW, seeing as we're dead set on going USN, what aircraft do you want? Keep in mind though that if you choose a single seat aircraft then Zeus will be re-assigned and you probably won't see him again (you might, but that depends on future things).
>>
>>369336
I'd say an F-14 would make the most sense, what with this being the 80's.
>>
>>369336
F-14 will make the most sense if this is the 80's or the 90's.
>>
>>369352
What variant?

The A model that has raw, powerful engines but older weapons. But is very easy to get parts for.

Or the B model with under powered engines but better weapons integration.

Because we aren't going strictly historical, there is a chance that some new weapons will be integrated, if I find evidence of them being tested on your aircraft (this means that it might not be a bad call to get an F-4 if the Tomcat get's smashed up.
>>
>>369424
Since I'm a fan of raw power, the Model A sounds like the best option. It's like the Chevelle of the sky.
>>
>>369424
Model A, the old weapon system can still be effective and the powerful engine will help us get out of dodge.
>>
Ok then, I'm going to leave it a bit longer so that we can get some more votes. If no more votes come in then we'll settle for an F-14A and go straight into the next thread.
>>
>>369563

I'm good with the F-14A, a high performing aircraft in the hands of a good pilot will be able to do a lot even with the older weapons system
>>
Now that we have 3 votes for the F-14A, we are all set for the next thread. It's already late here so I'm going to head off to bed and we'll start the thread tomorrow. I'll put up a link here so that you can just hop over.

Sorry things are a bit late. I had heard about the incident in France and had to check up on family.
