The dull light of the cellphone illuminates the abandoned office, casting shadows out upon the walls that seem to dance with each sway and tap, upon the screen. There is a cool breeze that slinks through the walls and boards that adds a slight chill to the otherwise warm summer night. Outside can be heard the rattle of a chain link fence, the chirp of crickets, and the flickering of fluorescent lights. A moth flits its way through the cracks in the window, bumping around in the darkness before slipping back from whence it came. The little furniture that lines the office is covered in dust save for where it has recently been kicked up, paths etched through the fine debris across the desk top, revealing old coffee stains and light cuts upon the top of the desk, leading to the boots of the focus of this tale.

Sophie taps upon her phone, looking through texts, images, whatever to sate her boredom. Bored, bored, boredboredbored. Ugh… she leans back further in the cracked old leather of the old boss’s chair. This “test of courage” that her friend Katie had put her up to is more boring than anything. “Spend a night in the old abandoned factory.” She said. “It’ll be fun.” She said. It has been two hours sitting here and already she has run out of ideas on what to do, flicking idly through her cellphone for entertainment.

“Whatever, fine, might as well get this started.” She says popping open the video recording application, and looking into the camera.

“Hey everyone, Its Sophie, doing a test of courage at that old chem plant and factory. Two hours in and this has been one of the worst nights. It’s so boring. Anyway, figured I’d give you a little look into how things are going. Maybe I’ll give you all a tour later provided I don’t fall asleep. Well, that’s all for now.” She says, pressing the, end record button. Then she gives a sigh and goes back to attempting to surf the web, signal patchy at best in this old facility.

Then, the noise comes in the distance, a strange clang of metal upon metal, the whirling of machinery and the sound of moving conveyers, then a whirl of a mechanical pulley and a sickening wet thud that seems to echo in the old abandoned place. Sophie’s eyes go wide, her heart pounding in her chest as goose flesh creeps up her arms and her hairs stand on end, it is at that moment she realizes, she isn’t alone.

“W-what was that?” she asks herself.

I knew I recognized that scribble art style.

Probably rats.

Or zombies.

Or coked-up transients who want to rape and eat you, maybe not in that order.

Y-yeah thats probably right, rats... just rats, not zombies or other types of monstrosities that could be lurKING IN THE SHADOWS!

Sophie jumps to her feet, the machinations of her own mind probably far worse than whatever is lurking out there.

>>364412
Lucky for me, I knew things may go south, so I brought my trusty pocket knife.

Sophie produces the small knife from her hoodie pocket and flicks it open.

>>364445
Oh trust me I intend to, there is just a couple of problems with that. First off, I'm kinda on the third floor of the factory in the warden's office. Most of this compound is boarded up tight or locked down, save for one entry way. And secondly, that entry way is all the way on the other side of the building... on the first floor.

>>364507
I don't know how I would, I mean there are planks I could use but the desk itself is bolted to the floor and I don't have any tools to use besides my knife and phone.

The glow of her phone illuminates the room before her as she stands, the battery reading 75%, it'll probably last a good more portion into the night. The shattered glass of the door window could let her peer out into the factory, and maybe she could bring some of the... debris? With her? Not sure if that would help, heck it may slow her down, but one may never know when they need a plank of wood. Or not.
>>
>>364385
Good to see you running again!
>>
>>364938
>the desk itself is bolted to the floor
What kind of plant manager would bolt their desk to the floor? What an asshole.

>the battery reading 75%
Don't suppose there's a lower powered red light illumination mode on the thing? Use less power and don't wreck your night vision as much.
>>
>>364938
So is the factory supposed to be haunted, or just a creepy place? Heard any rumors about it?
>>
forget using that knife, that plank with a nail in it is 10 times the better weapon.
>>
>>364938
Grab the plank and take a peak out of the broken window
>>
>>365009
>What kind of plant manager would bolt their desk to the floor? What an asshole.
Maybe people kept rearranging his furniture. Damn you former factory workers! Your pranks have doomed us all!

Or, doomed just Sophie I suppose.
>>
>>364938
Trust me, planks are where it's at for bashing zombies. Or crazed murder hobos driven mad by sonic hubcaps. Or manifestations of a man's psyche, tormented by the death of his wife. Y'know, the usual scenarios.

I can check, but I'm really worried right now...

>>365016
Well, ever since it closed theres been a higher number of "missing persons" cases than the surrounding area.
It closed when there was a horrible accident where a worker died and more were injured.
Supposedly, its haunted but only kids believe in that stuff... certainly not me... heh...

Sophie looks at the plank, its really splintery but with a few well placed cuts with her knife she gives it a rudimentary handle.

Standing in the middle of the hall is a hazmat suit suspended by some kind of pipe to the ceiling. The really creepy part is it is standing underneath a lit lighting fixture... when power should be out at this facility totally.

OKAY! That was NOT there before! Shit... SHIT. Is it the ghost? Is this place really haunted!? Crap, crap, crap. What should I do?

The suit doesn't move from its position and Sophie is still peering through the hole in the window, hopefully unnoticed.
>>
keep staring but back up from the window a bit
>>
>>369098
Smack the door to attract it's attention. If it's a zombie it'll attack the door and you can bash it's arms off.
>>
>>369098
Maybe it's a scarecrow? Would your friends be the types to try and prank you?
>>
>>369098
Ghosts don't usually wear Hazmat stuff. Looks more like some sort of government or corporate type. That THUD you heard was probably that guy becoming dead.

Have you checked the desk drawers for matches or other things? Who knows, might be a pistol in there. Kind of a long shot, though...

Suddenly the hazmat suit's head jerks up in a sharp motion, looking towards the door.

Sophie stumbles back aways.

Please don't let it have seen me, please don't let it have seen me.

>>369287
No, no I haven't maybe there is something in there, anything that could help me.

She hurries back away from the door, trying not to make a huge ammount of noise as she makes her way to the desk and slides open the drawers.

No good, just some paper, a couple of paperclips, a thumbtack, and a broken rubber band.

There is a sound from the hall like footsteps, and rubber being stretched and pulled, and meat being shaken in a plastic bag.

I'm... I'm going to go check and see...

Its... its gone! The lights are off down the entire hall, it seems whatever the thing was, be it a figment of her imagination or the horrible ghost that haunts this factory it has decided to-

There is the same sickening wet thud as a light flickers to life further down the hallway and the hazmat body suit plops down from the darkness above, crumbling as it impacts the floor, then slowly rises to her feet.

In shock Sophie lets out a cry which she quickly catches in her throat, her jaw slack and mouth trembleing.

NOPE!

anywhere else you can go? or are we stuck in this office until morning?

Can we barricade the dor with the desk and anything else we can find?

Look around and see if there's any holes in the ceiling in here, then hide under the desk if there isn't.

Also, nice hips, you seeing anyone, hot stuff?

Hope you're still here, OP, I was enjoying this story.

Also, btw, do only OP posts count as a bump on this board? After I posted in this thread yesterday, the thread seemed to stay on page 8 or 9.
