You are Kraton Reed, Jedi Lord of Telos IV

At a time when the Republic was merely a shadow of its former self and the Sith terrorized much of the Galaxy, you chose to strike back. Breaking from protocol, you gathered together a small group of likeminded Jedi Knights and raised your own army. You launched a crusade against the Sith Empire and managed to liberate the Outer Rim world of Telos IV. The people of this world now look upon you as their Lord and their protector in these dark times…

After a hard fought battle, it seems victory is finally at hand here on the isolated world of Ferro. It took many hours of bombardment and a fierce battle between thousands of soldiers, but the Sith have been beaten back to their underground base. Even now, your men along with your allies from the Republic are storming the base while you and fellow Jedi Kota Vam oversee the battle from the surface.

>52

Your soldiers, along with your Republic allies, breach deep down inside the base and engage the Sith Defenders in vicious close quarters combat. Your forces carry the momentum form their victory on the surface, but eventually they begin to become bogged down in the fighting. The narrow corridors of the Sith Base provide many opportunities for the defenders to entrench themselves as they defiantly inflict scores of casualties on your men. The battle is still in your favor, but they are not making it easy for you.

Taking a moment to rest and recover from your injuries, the two of you are now engaging in a short respite of meditation. You had just contacted the Mandalorian Commandos leading the defense of the base, appealing to them to lay down their arms and follow you instead. It remains to be seen whether they will take up your offer and join you or fight till the bitter end, but you remain hopeful as you patiently await their response.

In the mean time, you sit and meditate inside your war tent beside Kota Vam…

>What does Kraton Reed meditate on during this brief respite?

>The Mandalorians you seek to sway to your side?
>The State of affairs back on Telos IV?
>How you can become a more powerful force on the battlefield?
>The Sith Lord Ramana, whose forces you’ve primarily been fighting?

Hi folks, long time no see!

Here's the current character sheet loaded with pertinent information on the MC, Kraton Reed

and the forces he commands and the allies and enemies he has made over the course of his personal crusade against the Sith Lords.

>>How you can become a more powerful force on the battlefield?

You slowly clear your head and begin to meditate on these Mandalorians you have been fighting, hoping to gain some better understanding of just who these warriors are.

Each of the Mandalorians you have faced has identified themselves as a member of Clan Viszla, and it appears that two leaders in charge of this band are a brother and sister named Tor and Tyr Viszla. You had personally fought Tor Viszla when he boarded your flagship, the Raider. You were able to soundly beat him in a one-on-one duel, yet his warriors fought so fiercely to protect him that he managed to escape. They seem be very willing to lay down their lives for each other, such is the strength of their camaraderie.

If you could earn their respect, then they would indeed be potent allies. However, from what you know about Mandalorians they can be a very capricious and quarrelsome lot. You would have to accept that by welcoming such people into your army that you would be inviting a very different kind of soldier into your band. Many of your followers are people who truly believe in protecting the galaxy and defeating the Sith, but these Mandalorians will care little for that.

Suddenly your holo-terminal springs to life and you snap out of your mediation. Kota Vam rises to his feet and addresses you.

>”It must be the Mandalorians, no doubt with an answer for us. I'm personally doubtful this will work out, but we'll see...”

You rise up to your feet as well and motion him to receive the call.

The familiar sight of two Mandalorians clothed in red armor appears before you.

Tyr Viszla immediately speaks up

>”My brother and I have had time to discuss your offer with our men…”

>”… you are indeed different from most Jedi we’ve seen. You carry a bit of pride with you, and don’t seem shy about fighting at all. You’re… interesting."

Her brother steps forward as well and raises his voice

>”We are willing to change sides and serve in your army. HOWEVER, we have demands of our own.”

You and Kota exchange glances before staring back at Tor. Kota Vam cups a hand under his chin and states

>”Very well, get on with it.”

Tyr points a finger up at you and lists off her demands

>”If we join you then we expect you to respect our traditions and leave internal matters to us. We don’t want any of your officers or your Jedi butting into our internal matters. We’ll follow you on the battlefield, but do not think you hold as much power over us when we are off of it.”

Tor speaks out next

>”Also, should we choose to fight for you we want you to give us something in return.”

Kota Vam scowls at him
>”Credits?”

>”We care little for wealth. What we ask in return is land.”

“Land?”

Tyr nods her head

>”You are a Lord are you not? Grant us a fief, a place where we can rest when we are not on campaign and a place where our warriors can go home to hang their heads. It does not have to be big or pretty, but it has to be ours.”

It strikes you as a fairly odd question. By the sounds of it, they want to become much more than just soldiers to you. They want to be like Vassals.

>”One last condition Reed.”
Tor Viszla stares you down for a moment, seemingly considering his words carefully before speaking up

>”We have served under Lord Ramana for years now and she has treated us fairly. Should we choose to follow you then we will defend your worlds and fight all your enemies… save her.”

Kota Vam balks at him, but Tor’s sister is quick to interject

>”We mean her personally. We have no qualms about fighting her subordinates or her rivals, Hell wlll fight the Republic if it comes to that, just not her. Ramana is an honorable woman who has treated us well, and amongst her band are a few distant kinsman who we would rather avoid crossing blades with. We understand that this is a serious demand, but it is important to us.”

>How does Lord Reed respond?

>Accept their offer and have these Mandalorians join you
>Reject their offer and continue to fight them
>Propose a Counter-Offer of sorts?

>>Accept their offer and have these Mandalorians join you
Though remind them that it is war, and that while you will try your best to save Ramana it is no sure thing.
>>
You mull it over for a short while as Kota Vam stands off to the side and mutters

>”Very strange. Either these Mandalorians are much more obsessed with honor than I thought, or there’s something odd about this Ramana we’ve been fighting.”

You nod your head at Kota before turning your attention back to the Mandalorians

“Very well, I accept your terms From hence forth Clan Viszla will fight for me.”

Tor maintains a grim look and remains quiet while Tyr smiles and speaks up

>”You won’t regret this. Few clans can rival us in a fight.”

“Just remember that this is war. I will most likely have to face Ramana in the future, remember that.”

>”Of course. Now then…”

Tor’s smile fades quickly as she begins to rapidly type something on a terminal on her wrist

>”You need to pull your forces back right now.”

Kota Vam raises an eyebrow at her

>”Aren’t you going to order your forces to stand down?”

>”We are only leading the defense here because most of the other Sith in charge are dead. Most of them aren’t going to lay down their arms even if we order them too.”

>”Then why pull back now when we’re about to win the battle?”

>”Because we’ve rigged this base’s main power generator to overload.”

“Excuse me?”

Tor Viszla turns away and begins to bark orders to who you assume are his men

>”Everyone load up the weapons and begin piling out through the back tunnels RIGHT NOW!”

Tyr places her helmet back on her head as she explains

>”We held no delusions of winning this battle after we lost the fight on the surface, so we figured we’d take as many of you down with us as we could.”

Kota Vam’s jaw drops as he stares at you in shock

>”This whole base is about to explode!”

>What does Lord Reed do now?

>Order all of your men to pull back immediately, you don’t want to risk losing anyone in the blast

>Major Success

You stomp out of your tent and quickly find Commander Skrillex standing in front of a column of troops

”Commander, order a retreat! I want all our forces to begin pulling back from the base right now!”

>”What? Sir we’re thrashing them! Why would we—“

“The whole base is about to blow and take us with it!"

A look of abject horror dawns on Skrillex’s face as you utter

“IT’S A TRAP!”

>”SITHSPIT! LET’S GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! Hey you! Stop putting those sandbags down! STOP DIGGING THAT LATRINE! EVERYONE MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!”

The camp on the surface begins to dissolve into chaos as many of your men begin to rapidly flee from area.

It would appear that Kota Vam was able to reach the forces below almost immediately over comlink. Soon enough, you begin to see dozens upon dozens of your men sprinting out of the tunnels.

After only fifteen minutes of waiting, you hear that Fianna and her Republic soldiers have already fled from the Sith Base, along with Arnet Yar and over a third of the men who went down to fight. Another ten minutes pass before you see a familiar sight emerging from one of the larger blasted out tunnels.

A handful of what you recognize as your own men seem to be riding on top of what appears to be a stolen Sith Tank. As it begins to blizt in your direction you notice a familiar sight, a man with white hair and white eyes standing atop the tank with a green lightsaber in his right hand.

>”Lord Reed! The majority of our forces have pulled back! I am prepared to give you a fully detailed report when we are no longer in mortal danger! HOP ON!"

Sensing that the base must not have much longer to go, you jump up high through the air and land atop the speeding tank alongside Lo Rai.

After nearly a full minute of speeding away, in which time several more soldiers hop aboard the tank, you sense that the base is finished.

“Everyone get down!”

You all duck and hug the tank as a massive boom resounds and a blast of flame blows out of the tunnel, followed by several more fiery blazes from the other nearby tunnels until the entire landscape is more or less covered in geysers of fire.

As a wave of heat washes over you and several more deafening blasts thunder across the landscape, you slowly peak your head up and see that you are quickly leaving the area behind. The tank slows to a crawl, and the squad of soldiers that lied atop with you all but collapse onto the ground.

>Almost the entirety of your forces survived the Sith Base's Self Destruction!

Lo Rai runs a hand through his hair as he lies flat against the tank

>”That… went well. I imagine what was left of their forces must have been wiped out in that blast. I destroyed their Ion Cannon, almost all of their ships have been dismantled, virtually all their soldiers disintegrated. Which means… we've won.”

You look across the landscape, and see hundreds upon hundreds of your own men as well as the Republic’s shuffling about, many of them staring straight at you

Lo Rai begins to chuckle as he slowly stands back up, looks to you, and shouts

>”KRATON WE’VE WON!”

Numerous cheers erupt around you as your soldiers cry out in joy.

>”WE DID IT! That’s one more planet the Sith don’t have!"

>”HA! Those bastards blew themselves up for us!”

>”Long live the Republic!”

>”Long live Lord Reed!"

>The Hidden Sith Base on Ferro has been destroyed!

Many soldiers being firing their weapons up in the air as they begin to celebrate their victory whereas others appear to be doing everything from planting flags into the ground to singing. It’s a glorious sight, such that you feel yourself sharing in their joy. After the liberation of Telos IV, this has to have been the greatest blow you’ve struck to the Sith.

>”Kraton! Over here!”

You spot Commander Skrillex shoving his way through a crowd, and suddenly you noticed several imposing figures following behind him. Mandalorians, with the two in front of them donned in red armor.

>”Mandalorians?! Did Skrillex manage to capture them himself?”

“Not exactly, they’re joining us.”

>”Joining us? Strange, I thought they hated most Jedi. Our two peoples have been at each other’s throats for millennia.”

“Well, they think we’re a bit different than most Jedi.”

>”Very true."

Hopping off the tank, you soon find yourself standing face to face with the two leaders of Clan Viszla.

>”So brother, this is the Jedi who beat you so soundly above orbit?”

Tor Viszla grumbles as his sister Tyr gestures to you.

>”Well, I’m sure it was a good battle. Let’s hope there are many more good battles to come eh?”

Tyr Viszla takes off her helmet, revealing her short black hair and her hawk-like eyes. She stretches out a hand to you and awaits your response

>Shake her hand

Hopefully they'll begin to trickle in...

You smile as you raise up your own hand, the two of your grasping each other by the wrists.

“I am honored to have such strong warriors in my army.”

>”Hmph, well you can count on us. Amongst soldiers, there are few like the Mandalorians. And Amongst Mandalorians, there are none like Clan Viszla. You’ll see soon enough.”

Tyr appears to be eager to demonstrate just how good she and her warriors are in a fight. Tor on the other hand remains silent as he stands behind his sister.

“I look forward to seeing firsthand.”

>Clan Viszla has joined your forces!

>Lord Reed has gained 300 Mandalorian Supercommandos!

The sun is beginning to dip low over the horizon now as your forces begin to reorganize themselves. Eventually, you are approached by the leader of the Republic forces, the Jedi Palawan Fianna. Despite the massive amount of good cheer that seems to be infecting everyone, she is able to maintain a neutral stare as she calmly approaches you and speaks out in her usual monotone voice.

>”Congratulations. According to my master’s recon work this we have struck a significant blow to our enemies. I suggest we leave very soon now so we can reinforce Telos IV once more.”

You send out various star fighters and swoop bike riding scouts across the planet, and in little time you manage to discover a city that is partially hidden within the tree tops of one of the planet's more dense forests.

You send out more of your men to contact them, and it appears that your soldiers impress the locals enough that they agree to speak with you.

Some time early the next morning, you meet on neutral ground a ways outside the city in question. Waiting alongside your knights and several of your soldiers, you are eventually greeted by the sight of a small delegation of the Ferroan people.

They are an odd sight. The Ferroans are all blue-skinned, just like Sayla the Chiss is, though many of them also have white hair. All of them are also easily defined by their eyes, which are a bright gold color.

The tall and elderly looking man who approaches you wears a set of White robes and speaks to you in a somewhat course form of Galactic Basic.

>"My retainers watched as your ships bombarded our world for nearly an entire day. Our planet is sacred to us, it's forests ancient, and yet we have watched so much of it be destroyed. If you're battle is over then we ask that you and your warriors leave our world, and never return."

You sigh as you stare back at the Ferroan elder and tell him

”I am sorry for the destruction that has befallen your planet, but I want you to try to understand that I had little choice. I am leading my people at war against the Sith, and it was important that I defeat them here on your world. Now that they have been defeated, they may return. This entire region of the galaxy is becoming a battleground, I hope you will take appropriate measures to defend your people.”

The Elder scowls as he opens his mouth, yet one of the younger Ferroan women cuts him off

>”We had little choice but to welcome the Sith on our world. They needed a place to hide and train their armies, and we did not have the strength to oppose them.”

The Elder’s expression softens

>”My granddaughter speaks the truth. If we had resisted the Sith then our world would have suffered greatly, though perhaps all this destruction was… unavoidable.”

The Ferroan Elder gloomily looks away from you and stares into the distance where much of the destroyed forests lie.

>”We… have little reason to blame you for what has happened here. I suppose now we must prepare for what comes next. Go in peace Jedi.”

The Ferroan delegation looks to be leaving back to their home city now. Fianna walks up to your side and says

>”That was fairly impressive. Maybe we won’t have to worry about them coming back to fight us again in the future. I imagine it would have been easy for a Sith to recruit these people against us, but not anymore.”

“That would have been very unfortunate. I am glad cooler head could prevail.”

>Moderate Success

You’re soldiers scatter across much of the continent where the Sith Base had been located and attempt to salvage as much war material as they can get their hands on. Most of them focus on taking blasters and ammunition off of the dead Sith soldiers, though some speeder bikes and other small vehicles are also taken. A fair amount of rations and fuel is also found.

After a few days of work, it seems that you’ve managed to loot a fair amount of war material from the defeated Sith, so much so that resupplying your forces should not prove to be an issue for quite some time, even should you choose to march on a new planet fairly soon, such as Mirial.

Just when it seems that your forces are finishing up their salvage work, you receive word from various scouts that they have discovered something rather big towards one edge of the continent. They inform you that they have discovered a hangar bay hidden amongst the cliffside, and inside they have found 36 mostly intact Sith Buzzard Fighters, roughly three squadrons worth.

Far more valuable than the typical Interceptor that the Sith love to employ in their Swarm attacks, these Sith Buzzard Fighters features everything from shields to hyperdrive systems. They will almost certainly be a boon to your space fleet, especially given your past track record in naval battles.

With most of the salvage work taken care of, there seems to be little else to attend to now. It would seem that your present business on Ferro has largely concluded.

Before you begin to marshal all of your forces back to Telos IV, you begin to consider constructing an outpost of sorts

Though there is much to consider in regards to this. The first thing you immediately make yourself aware of is how much manpower you currently have at your disposal.

When you first launched the Attack on Ferro, you had the following manpower at your command

Surface Forces
1 Jedi Lord
2 Jedi Knights
1 Jedi Padawan
1 military commander (Skrillex)
12,000 soldiers

Naval Forces
1 Raider Corvette
4 Hammerhead Cruisers (Skeleton Crews) (Bait)
4 Sith Transports (loaded with soldiers)
48 Aurek Starfighters

Just recently, you've been able to more fully gauge your losses as well as your sudden gains since winning the battle

>Losses
Lost 3,000 soldiers
Lost 2 Hammerhead Cruisers

Raider Corvette heavily damaged and in need of repairs
12 Starfighters

>Gains
300 Mandalorian Supercommandos
36 Buzzard Fighters

Given that, you can make a better informed decision of just how much you want to put into the construction of this outpost.

>What will the main purpose of this outpost be?

>A place where we will be able to keep an eye on the surrounding sectors and watch for hidden movements amongst the enemy
>A place where we will be able to better train our men, much like what Ramana previously used this planet for

This. Though also make it a hidden stronghold. A good fallback point if anything.
>>
>>375637
Maybe make it a outpost for viewing the sector, but maybe could we have the chance to expand upon it?

We should put it in/by the hanger we found, so we have the ability to mobilize messengers or a fleet?

Name it Outpost Vigilance, as we will keep a watchful eye on this planet and sector forevermore

Thoughts?

I too suck at names, partly why two of our knights went nameless for so long

If you wish, you could repurpose that entire complex into the outpost you all wish to build. Building upon that existing framework will actually make it easier to construct, and you will be better able to create fighters and shuttles of your own should you choose to build it here.

It is however, not exactly the best place to build a stronghold. If discovered, it would be more difficult to defend that some other places on the planet.

I also like Outpost Vigilance as a name

No problem, ask away Anon.

This story is set at the start of the Republic Dark Age, roughly around 1100 BBY or 1,100 years before the Battle of Yavin. It was a time where the Republic basically ceased to exist outside of the Core Worlds and when much of the galaxy was being controlled by various Sith Lords who often feuded with one another.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Republic_Dark_Age

>Is Star Wars Legends Canon?

More or less yes. I've taken a lot of inspiration from various Legends verse stories as well as from the movies. That being said, there's not a whole lot about this particular era we are playing in that's clearly defined in the EU and I have nothing at all against the new EU either.

Setting aside an entire regiment of roughly a thousand soldiers led by a colonel who had fought bravely alongside his men, you order your forces to begin the construction of a hidden base here on Ferro.

Reappropriating the hidden Starfighter Hangar, you begin to expand upon this cliffside base and transform it into an observation outpost where you can more closely watch the passing of fleets in the surrounding systems. Building upon the already existing framework, you believe it will take a relatively short amount of time for the base to be finsihed and you believe the existing technology will allow them to build up a decent amount of fighters to defend said base.

>”It will be done my Lord. Outpost Vigilance will be up and running post haste. Expect a transmission from us in no less than two weeks!”

With that settled, you begin to marshal the rest of your army. The majority of your men are still in a jovial mood as they happily load transport vessels with the spoils of war. You find yourself in similar cheer, though you still feel that you have quite a lot of work ahead of you. The Battle for Ferro has ended, but your crusade is far from over.

Boarding a shuttle and arriving back on your damaged flagship, you direct the fleet alongside Fianna’s and make the jump to Hyperspace back to Telos IV

Sorry to see so many people miss out. Let's start up again now shall we? Hopefully more of you will be able to make it this time.
After a day’s journey through Hyperspace, your fleet finally returns home to Telos IV.

Hailed from the remainder of your fleet, you are quickly informed that all is well on the homefront and that aside from a few probe droids that were blasted to pieces, your forces have seen no sign of the enemy Sith!

Your forces begin to fly down to the planet’s atmosphere, with you and the majority of them flying down to the planet’s capital city, the massive floating super city of Citadel Station.

There is a great deal of fanfare as thousands of Telosians flood the streets to welcome your army home. As your personal shuttle zooms over the city streets, you see your own men begin to celebrate alongside the people who are thrilled to have their liberators back. Curiously, you notice many of the soldiers below appear to be wearing a uniform you do not recognize, one that carries blue and white colors to them.

A short flight later and your shuttle touches down upon a landing pad adjoined to an Armory, where you disembark and are greeted by the the Correllian Jedi Knight Jaina Charr and the turncoat Commander Stryker.

>”Welcome back Kraton! Bring us back any souvenirs?”

>”My Lord.”

Jaina looks fairly excited to see you while Stryker greets you with a reserved smile and a a firm military salute.

>Greet them warmly as friends

Hmm, kind of a slow start again. Oh well, I'm feeling confident that the Twitter will help this time.

You smile as you stretch out your arms and embrace Jaina.

“It’s great to be back! I’ve brought us a few fighters and rusted blasters, and a few new friends.”

>”Friends?”

“I’ll explain later, it's a little bit of a crazy story.”

>"Heh, I'm usually the one who comes back with the crazy stories."

She steps back as Stryker strides up. You reach out out and grasp his hand, shaking it firmly as you ask

“I trust you kept things running smoothly while I was gone?”

>”Of course, running a planet is much easier when the people actually support you. Makes my job much simpler.”

You chuckle as the two of you break off your handshake. Your gaze drifts aside to a crowded city street that lies in the distance.

“Why are there so many soldiers dressed in that blue and white uniform?”

>”Ah yes, I took the liberty of making some reforms to our fighting force.”

“Reforms?”

He nods his head as he folds his arms over his chest

>“I noticed that many of your soldiers lacked a formal uniform. Most wore old Republic military equipment, while many others wore whatever they could get their hands on. Of course all my men wear the standard Sith military uniforms found in most of the Empire…”

He reaches into his belt and pulls out a small data slate, which shows a hologram of a soldier wearing that uniform.

>”I believed that by adopting a set of colors for our army would help us coordinate in battle easier and build a stronger sense of camaraderie. I chose the colors of white and blue to distinguish us from the Republic’s White and Red and the Empire’s White and Black. Do you approve?”

>Approve of his work and tell him you are impressed

“I like it… I like it a lot. Very nice work Commander, I think I would like to have the whole army adopt this.”

>Stryker beams as he stands tall with his fists planted behind his back

>”Just my way of helping install a little discipline Sir. It may not seem all that important, but I think it will help us greatly in the long term. I will see to it that your returning forces adopt this model as well.”

“Excellent. Though you will notice that not all my forces have returned, I left a detachment of men on Ferro to build an outpost.”

>”A garrison for the planet?”

“No, merely enough for a small observation station to keep a better eye on our enemies. Should be finished within a few weeks.”

He ponders your words before nodding his head in approval.

Jaina Charr steps aside and leans over the landing pad’s railing to look down at the commotion enveloping the city.

>”Seems the whole planet’s having a party again. Say Kraton, now that the gang’s all back together why don’t we all celebrate?”

“What’d you have in mind?”

>”Well, the Armory here’s got plenty of room for a get together. Let’s have all of us share a meal and catch up.”

Stryker tilts his head toward her and adds

>”I could have all the other officers under our command join us, maybe some soldiers who distinguished themselves in the lat few battles as well. My previous Lord would have feasts every now and then, though I imagine you’d want something a bit less extravagant.”

>Tell them you think it’s a good idea, and that we should hold a modest feast to celebrate our victory
>Tell them you’d rather not, as it sounds a bit excessive for your tastes. It’d be best to simply let people enjoy themselves and rest at their own leisure
>Tell them that you want to immediately focus once more on the liberation of Mirial and that you do not want to waste any time
>Tell them that you feel there are other important matters that require your immediate attention (Write-in?)
>>

hey OP i'm here now

>Let's strike a balance between a casual feast and a bit of spitballing about our next assault. Mirial is still under a lot of pressure and we don't have time to waste since the Sith menace could retaliate at any moment. Still, we did win and the men deserve recognition for their deeds.

Basically, a good meal with some banter and occasional strategic discussion, but not quite as formal as a meeting or briefing.

You adopt a serious look as you place a hand under your chin and stare out at the celebrations down below

“I don’t like the idea of having a big party when there’s still so much work to be done. We’ve done a lot, but the Sith are still out there and we NEED to prepare for Mirial.”

Stryker nods his head as Jaina gives you a neutral stare.

“Still, we should at least recognize the men for a job well done. We’ll throw a casual feast.”

Jaina grins as she steps away down the catwalk

>”I’ll get in contact with everyone at the Temple and let them know to meet us here in the city.”

Stryker begins to type on his datapad

>”I’ll notify the other officers and enlisted men as well while the preparations for tonight begin.”

+++

As night falls over the city, you find that celebrations are still in full swing all across Citadel Station. You personally welcome your Knights and your major military officers into one of the Armory’s grand halls where many tables filled with food and drink are set up. Everyone seems to be in a jovial mood, even those who stayed behind and appeared to disagree with your decision to focus military efforts on Ferro over Mirial.

Your allies from the Republic arrive too, as the Jedi Padawan Fianna takes a seat at the table you sit at to your right side. The two Mandalorian leaders, the brother and sister pair named Tor and Tyr Viszla, arrive as well along with a handful of their men, all clothed in their suits of armor sans their helmets. You quickly notice as the party begins that the Mandalorians appear to congregate closer with Stryker and his officers.

As drinks are poured and people begin to mingle amongst themselves, the Mirialian Knight Janus joins your side.

>”Kraton, I was thinking. You may want to start this party off by recognizing someone who did well in the last battle.”

You swish a goblet filled with wine in your hand around as you ponder who to honor with this feast

>Recognize Lo Rai, who’s brave leadership proved crucial in destroying Ferro’s devastating Ion Cannon
>Recognize Fianna, who’s forces were vital to winning the space battle over Ferro’s orbit
>Recognize Kota Vam’s Padawan Arnet Yar, who fought bravely and went beyond what was expected of just a Padawan in facing a Sith and fighting beside Fianna
>Recognize someone else? (Write-in?)

Have to go for a while, be back later tonight

You stand up tall and raise your voice

“We have struck a great blow to the Sith. Ferro has fallen, and thus Lord Ramana has lost a prized base of hers, ensuring that our hold over Telos is now stronger than ever. We should be grateful for the sacrifices that were made to achieve this victory, the brave soldiers who fought courageously and who gave their lives to make this all possible. Let us take a moment to recognize the brave deeds of those who distinguished themselves in this battle.”

You then gesture a hand over to Fianna who sits by your side

“Our allies from the Republic have done great things for us. If not for Fianna and her forces' presence, we would have not been able to stage such a fierce attack. Your master has trained you well Fianna, we give you thanks and praise for all that you’ve done on our behalf.”

She solemnly nods her head as her officers applaud, quickly joined by all others present who also cheer

>”You are too kind, thank you.”

As the cheers die down, you then gesture over to Arnet Yar who sits further away beside his master

“Let us also recognize the Padawan of my knight Kota, Arnet Yar. I still remember when we first found you and welcomed you into our band not so long ago. You’ve learned so much in such a short amount of time, and I am proud to have you with us. I can clearly see your master has also trained you well."

The young man seems to shrink and blush a bit, overwhelmed by the glowing praise as his master closes his eyes and grins proudly beside him.

"The two of you fought valiantly, leading our forces into the thick of combat and, working together, you were able to defeat one of their Sith Warriors, a feat that many Jedi Masters can not even attest to. Truly, if these two Padawans are the future then these dark times we live in are nearing an end!”

The hall once again erupts in cheers as those assembled exhort Arnet as well as Fianna.

With that, food begins to be placed down as those assembled continue to speak amongst themselves and enjoy their meals.

You take several minutes to sit back and enjoy your wine, which feels noticeably light compared to what you normally enjoy, and then pick at your food for a short while before gazing out at those assembled. People seem to be enjoying themselves, and you too are somewhat pleased with how things are turning out. However, the liberation of Mirial is still fresh on your mind and you wish to begin some plans for it now if you can.

Your gaze drifts over to where Commander Stryker sits. He leans back in his seat which tilts on it’s back-legs while he lights a cigar to himself. His officers speak amongst themselves while he silently sits and listens to their banter.

Rising up from your own seat, you walk toward the Commander as he takes his first few puffs of the cigar.

“Stryker.”

The man immediately puts down his cigar and quickly rises up to his feet to salute you

“At ease Commander.”

>”Sir, would you care to sit with us?”

“I’d love to.”

He loosens up his stance and smiles as he sits back down. Taking a seat beside him, he offers you a cigar as he puts his back in his mouth.

“No thanks, I’ll do without tonight.”

>”Fair enough.”

Stryker sits his chair back down and places his own cigar aside, letting it rest in it’s ash tray.

“Have you been enjoying the party?”

>”These sorts of gatherings aren’t normally my thing Sir, though I am enjoying myself well enough.”

He looks around the room a bit for a few quiet moments before stating

>”To be perfectly honest, I am still not quite comfortable with some of these new arrangements. Sitting here alongside people I fought against, sharing drinks with members of the Republic. It’s all pretty new and uncomfortable to me, but I will make do.”

“I see.”

The Commander seems a little more out of sorts than what you’re used to. Whenever you’ve met him at his camp or with his men he’s always seemed very composed. You suppose a kind of casual event like this is something that he never really experienced while serving the Sith.

“So do you approve of my army itself so far?”

>”I find it all very promising Sir. There’s so much to be done and so much to work on, and I’m eager to assist in whatever ways I can. I want to help make these forces of yours something special.”

You smile at him

“I’m glad, I think our forces will benefit a lot from your input. How do you think we’ll perform in the upcoming battle for Mirial?”

He adopts a serious look as he leans forward over the table with his hands pressed together

>”They will still be expecting us I imagine, and I believe they will have had quite a bit of time to prepare for us. I’m confident we can field enough forces to overwhelm their defenses, but I’m rather worried by how much we might end up losing. There is also… another concern of mine.”

“What’s on your mind Commander?”

>”I’ve been running a few different scenarios in my head, and have been trying to make judgements based off of what I’ve seen in our scouting reports and such. It seems that with Verus dead, that someone amongst his forces has risen up to power in Mirial. I think I know who it is.”

“Who?”

>”A colleague of mine in the navy, Rear Admiral Zilas. You might remember him as the officer who ordered bomber squadrons to destroy Verus’ flagship while you were still on it.”

You vaguely recall a tall human whose body was clearly dominated by various pieces of cybernetics.

“Yes, I recall. What was he like?”

>”Very loyal, not to just Verus or Ramana, but to the ideals that many of the Sith espouse. He is a very ruthless individual, ruthless… and clever. I’m not sure how exactly I know, but I just have this sinking feeling that he managed to escape death somehow at the last battle and is now out there.”

Stryker’s hands grip as he clasps them together

>”He will do everything he can to ensure Mirial doesn’t fall into our hands. We have to be flexible when fighting him. Also, I believe we should launch the invasion of the planet fairly soon, perhaps by the end of the week. I don’t know how much longer it will be before he might get reinforcements from Ramana herself.”

"Perhaps we should try to spy on them and probe their defenses more before launching the attack?"

Stryker ponders the prospect a bit before replying

>"I'm uncertain if it would be right to delay the attack for too much longer. The longer we wait the more time they'll have to reinforce their position. that being said, I suppose we could launch a raid of sorts to test just how well defended their orbital defenses are."

"And what of Zilas? If he's as dangerous as you say he is, perhaps we should focus on dealing with him alone?"

Stryker scratches his chin a bit

>"I imagine he'd be well defended. An attempt to capture or kill him would be risky, I imagine he has many soldiers guarding him. He would almost certainly be commanding everything from the space station above orbit, and if not that then he would likely be in Verus' castle. If we could pull it off, I bet we could take Mirial far more easily, but it is risky. Perhaps if--"

Stryker stops mid speech as he looks up at a soldier who has just walked up on either side of you both. He appears to be a bit distressed

>"Something wrong son?"

>"Lord Reed, Commander Stryker, an emissary from the Republic has just arrived. He will be arriving here in a few moments."

Sorry I forgot to answer this. The masked Sith Chick's name was Arlia Sitra, and I'm afraid she hasn't joined you all quite yet.

She is currently still confined to her cell at the Jedi Temple, as you have yet to offer her a chance to join your forces. At this time, the only thing that has been decided in that regard is that once she is ready to join you that Lo Rai, with his superior understanding of the Dark Side of the Force, would be the best candidate for taking her on as a Padawan. I imagine the next time I run we will have a chance to offer her a place in our forces, should you all deem her ready.

"No, I'll go out and meet with him personally. Ensure Fianna is informed as well."

>"Yes Sir."

You stand up, as does Stryker, and the two of you walk out of the banquet together and enter the side hall. The two of you wait outside for a few minutes before a single figure, flanked by two of your soldiers, marches down the hall.

He looks to be a Duros man wearing a Republic Navy Pilot's uniform. He grimaces at the two of you as he approaches with a data slate in his hand.

"Welcome to Telos IV. I hope your journey was--"

>"Fraught with danger I'm afraid, though there really is nowhere in the galaxy that's safe anymore."

Stryker frowns at the pilot
>"Yes well, how can we help you?"

>"My business does not really concern either of you, but I need to speak with General Vike immediately."

"General Vike? He is--"

>"Away on a renaissance mission with a detachment of our expeditionary force."

You all turn away and see Fianna staring you down with her usually blank look.

The Duros pilot's eyes light up as he realizes

>"Ah, you're the Echani girl. I've heard a lot about you."

Fianna visibly frowns

>"What do you want?"

>"To bring you and your master your new orders."

The pilot hands Fianna his data slate as she walks up to you all.

She stares at the data slate for a full minute without taking her eyes away from it. You have little idea what this all is about, though you feel yourself growing more tense as this goes on.

>"It sounds like things are going very badly."

"Excuse me?"

The Duros pilot frowns as he explains

>"The Sith fleets are encroaching even closer than before on the Core Worlds, and what's worse is that several systems in the Inner Rim and Colonies regions are being hit with plagues."

Stryker visibly tenses up

>"Plagues? What kind of plagues?"

>"Ones we haven't seen in centuries, and they're spreading fast. The Republic needs all the manpower it can get right now to defend it's borders and ensure public order."

Fianna sighs as she lowers the data slate

>"So that is why the Supreme Chancellor is ordering us to come back?"

Your eyes widen in shock as Commander Stryker balks at the young Padawan

“The Republic is calling you back now?!”

Fianna responds in a much calmer tone

>”It would appear so. I’m very surprised as well.”

The Duros nods his head

>”You are to respond to these orders immediately and leave Telos IV for Chandrilla with the remainder of your forces.”

Fianna silently stares back at the pilot. The air feels thick with tension as you all await for her response.

>”I am afraid I cannot comply with this order quite yet.”

The Duros scowls

>”I’m not sure you understand exactly what you are saying. You and your Master are obligated to—“

>”My master is still conducting his reconnaissance mission. My orders from him were to command the fleet and assist Lord Reed until he returned. Once Sun Vike is back and in command of the fleet, you can pass on these orders to him.”

The pilot grumbles loudly at the young padawan

>”Fine then, but the more time you waste here the more danger you put our Republic in. You there!”

The pilot points at a soldier of yours that had been escorting him

>”Show me to my chambers, I’ve been stuck inside a cockpit for days. I NEED a bed.”

Fianna glances in your direction and quickly adds
>”I believe I will retire to my quarters as well. Thank you very much for your hospitality this evening Master Reed.”

She bows her head before walking back into the Dining Hall to collect her officers

Stryker turns to you with a very dark look

>”Sir, this could not have come at a worse time. I’m not sure if retaking Mirial will be possible without the Republic’s naval forces. This complicates… everything!”

The commander rubs his forehead as you stand there and wonder just how you will deal with this sudden crisis.

With that, I'll stop for now! I hope you all had fun playing tonight. If you have any questions or concerns for me then please ask away now, otherwise I hope to see you all later!

I will be sure to announce on the Quest Thread General and on my Twitter when that happens, but with my work schedule I'm pretty sure that won't be happening any time earlier than 7PM Central.

If I were to take a guess I'd say Thursday evening at the earliest!

Really fun quest by the way. It really captures the star wars feel.

agreed, this quest has been fun to play, and funner to read. Its true we should expedite this assault (if able) seeing as weve already given them time. But making a hard strike at the leadership of the defenders would also be wise, at least we could be a very effective distraction during the main assault.
