In the last chapter, Zheng Li acquaints himself with Yuan Shao who hails from a line of prestigious family. Dissatisfied with the Han, he tempts Yuan Shao by advising him to seize power as the Han decays. Together with Liu Bei and Yuan Shao, they defeat the armies and magic of Zhang Bao. The leader Zhang Jue dies of illness and the Yellow Scarves are dissolved. Despite the efforts of Zheng Li and the Dawn Tigers, the court refuses to reward their service. With a decision to make himself a lord, Zheng Li ventures out in the world. --------This quest is an RPG-styled game following the Three Kingdoms period of China and the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guangzhong. You play as a fictional character following through the events of the Three Kingdoms and hopefully rising to become an important player of with the famous figures. You will start off as a no-name, average character who can rise up through effort. Most of the characters and story will follow the events of the novel first, history second, the RoTK games third, and only a very small part will come from the Dynasty Warriors games (Mostly character personalities if suitable). The goal of the game is to create an interesting story more so than win. While this game will not be harsh, mistakes and carelessness may result in the loss of your faction and even the death of your character. Sometimes circumstances may be unfair as not even Zhuge Liang could not save his kingdom after Shu lost Jing province. Still, thinking and common sense should get you through. Whatever the case, my goal is to hopefully see you create an interesting story more than conquering the entirety of China. -------Character info: http://pastebin.com/yDvYKdAkMarket: http://pastebin.com/YwtG4Bjmtwitter: https://twitter.com/RainsArpeggioLast thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/357857/
>>384993Ambition stirs within your heart as you leave the capital city of Luoyang. The power of the Han is waning; as lords from all across the land are promoted and more rebellions rise in northernwest Liang and the south, you hold plenty of opportunity to obtain power. You have made friends with Han Fu, Yuan Shao, and Tao Qian who might be suitable allies. As your party heads towards the Central Plains, you encounter a large migrant of people along the way. They are but poor farmers and peasants from their attire and number several thousand. When they see you a great fright comes upon them and they go on their knees. It seems they have mistaken you for bandits.“We are no bandits and we do not wish trouble with you,” Hao Xian explains to the people, much to their relief. “Tell us however; why do you move in such great numbers?”“Our homes have been displaced by war,” an elderly man says. “Not only famine and plague, but bandits have attacked our lands. When we sought refuge at the capital city we were turned away and forced to leave. Now we look to settle ourselves in the lands of Chen. We hear there are open lands for us to settle.”“Many bandits and Yellow Scarves still run about,” you inform them. “The roads are not safe.”“We know, but what else can we do but risk the venture?” he says sadly. “You say you are the Dawn Tigers? Could we ask for your protection?”Hao Xian comes next to you.“Perhaps this is the opportunity we have been looking for. If we help these people we can gain their gratitude and with our men we can act as their protectorate. The commandery of Chen is small and undeveloped but this may be the exact catalyst to our beginning. The downside to this rather than trying to ingrain ourselves with our friends such as Yuan Shao is that we must rely on our power. But at the same time it would mean we owe no debts and would not have to bow to another force. What say you?”>aid the group of people to Chen>refuse, and seek a base elsewhere
>>384998Here is a commandery map of China. Know lords you have met have been marked. Chen has also been marked.
>>384998>>aid the group of people to Chen
B E S T Q U E S T>refuse to seek a base elsewhereCan we snipe Ye from Han Fu? The guy is an incompetent fuck and if we prove ourselves to people like Ju Shou we could get his officers to side with us.
>>385054Liking this. May as well take a tard out of play and gain some decent leverage if we can.
>>384998>aid the group of people to Chen
>>385054Incompetent as he may be can we really take it with only 1500 men?
>>384998>aid the group of people to ChenI really doubt we have the manpower to take down Han Fu. This'd get us goodwill with these people, and potential future recruits.
>>385111Han Fu would give the order to close the gates to us and the city would explodeHe sucks. But I do see your point, maybe another city in Ji province so we can snipe Ye before Yuan Shao does
Ah, well ignore my earlier post then, i must have misread the troop number by a good fucking bit for some damn reason. Support the people from Chen, especially if we want to landgrab now.
>>384998>aid the group of people to ChenI think the biggest issue with taking Ye other than if it's actually feasible with out current status is that it puts us right in the way of Yuan Shao's expansion which could mess with our relations. This is metagaming but I think we should keep our expansion south of the river and take the Central Plains whilst keeping Friendly relations or even an Alliance with Yuan Shao to the north. We maintain that until he passes away and his three incompetent sons start fighting over the inheritance, then we strike.
“We started off helping the people in need, and we shall follow suit,” you inform your companions. You turn to the migrants. “We of the Dawn Tigers shall protect your people to Chen. We have actually been dismissed from the capital as well and are looking for a place to stay. If your people could aid us in food and supplies, then we would defend you from all harm.”“What grain and food we can offer we shall give,” the elder says with a nod. “Then I thank you for your protection.”The Dawn Tigers travel with the migratory group to the commandery of Chen. In the week long travel you hear news that Dong Zhuo has begun fighting the rebels at Liang while Sun Jian is advancing towards the enemy rebel Ou Xing. In the northern regions you hear of Yuan Shao who has taken the commandery of Bohai where he gathers able men and talent while straying from the palace. It seems your words have convinced the man to abandon his post as a minister. You arrive at the lands of Chen after some time of travel. The region is small as described. Small valleys are scattered throughout the grassy region. To the eastern borders large mountain divide Chen from the other commanderies while the south holds the Huai river. It looks to be a decent land. The migratory people begin their settlement near the river. Houses are constructed, fishermen begin catching food, and the farmers attempt to land their corps near the river. It seems that it will take some time for these people to settle but they are enthusiastic and happy to finally have found a place of rest. What do you do during the meantime?>aid the people and take requests>go around Chen and visit other villages>focus on studies and training (choose stats)
>>385229>go around Chen and visit other villagesScout some talent.
Can we leave Hao Xian to help the people and take requests while we explore around Chen? Two or more birds with one stone if we can, IMO.
>>385229>go around Chen and visit other villages
>>385229>>focus on studies and training (choose stats)Leadership and Intelligence.
>>385229>go around Chen and visit other villagesAll three choices are things that need doing to be fair. We need to help the people out, so that their goodwill towards us will increase, but we also need to get our face out there and let the surrounding people know we're here.We also need to git gud and increase our stats. Any decent leader has much higher stats than we do. We seem to be a LDR/WAR/CHA built guy, so I reckon we should focus on raising them up in the future.Right now, I think getting our face out there is best choice. Getting more people on-side for more manpower is a must.
>>385271We are going to need someone with good POL ASAP since we are starting base building.
>>385271>>385229I agree with this guy>Go around Chen and visit other villages
>>385277Hopefully we can find someone and get them to join.
You inform Hao Xian that you plan to visit other villages and scout around the land. You tell him to aid the people in any way he can and keep things in order while you are away."To ensure we maintain our authority we must gain the trust of the people. Listen to their requests and if need be help them. And Yang Jing, try not to drink too much," you inform them with a joke as you depart, Yang Jing tells you to sod off as you head to scout Chen. You look around the villages of Chen. They are small and hold little population. Most of the villages are agrarian and hold small farms with populations of about a thousand or so. You inform them of your arrival and tell them the villages that you mean no harm. When they hear that you are aiding a group of migrants, they consent and approve of your presence. One of the bigger villages is called Chengfu. Unlike the other villages, it is a commercial village and more larger with several thousand people inhabiting it. Nestled around center roads that connect the Central Plains it is a place of trade and goods. You think that it is perhaps time to hire someone of note. You, Hao Xian, and Yang Jing are warriors but if you are to ever rise up you may need advisors and civil officials. You look around the village...(Three 1d100 rolls)

Alright, i was never going to mention it but seeing as this quest looks like it won't die in the cradle I have to tell you this OP.In your pastebin it says ROUGE BAND.It should say ROGUE BAND. Unless there is something particularly red about our band.

You hear of three individuals that are staying in the area but are about to leave soon. It seems you only have the time to visit one and convince him to side with you.You hear about one young man who is humble and a good natured man. He has has studied and traveled around the Jing region to the Central Plains to discuss scholarly pursuits and the like. Another you hear of a sharp-minded individual who is straight to the point and minces no words. He is talented and looks for a worthy man to serve that can bring him to greater heights. And the third you hear is a very tall man, towering around six feet tall. He supposedly acts frivolously and holds no qualms about taking ruthless actions. Despite this he is considered incredibly brilliant.Who do you attempt to recruit?>the humble man>the sharp ambitious man>the tall frivolous man
>>385456Fair enough, i'm just used to shitting up the place with being moderately/severely useless.
>>385461>the humble man>>385464Relax bud. You're fine.

>>385461>>the sharp ambitious man
>>385461>the tall frivolous manBetter to have him on our side than not, convincing him may be a problem though and we only get one shot it seems
>>385477Well, thanks. I'm just trying not to be shitty. Useless, maybe, but not shitty.
>>385461>>the humble man
>>385461>the humble man>Humble the rebels!
>ambitious manSeriousy the fuck guys. We're all discussing killing Han Fu who is a nice guy and stealing Zhang He from him but we're going to hire the good two shoes?Willing to bet humble guy is the worst of the bunch.
Seriously y'all, not choosing the dude who doesn't mince words?C'mon, I want as many assholes on this crew as possible.
You decide to hire the man known to be humble and good-natured thinking that he may be the best fit for your force. You ask around for the man and people state he is discussing matters with other scholars at the nearby Confucian hall where intellectuals like to gather and talk for hours on end. You visit this hall and when the scholars see you they welcome you among the seats. It seems they always like are always welcoming of those who can contribute to their discussions. The current discussion is the decline of the Han. The scholars discuss what people should be doing at the current times and many scholars offer their points. Some state they should do their best to restore the Han say they should leave it and head south for safer places. What do you say and what is your opinion? Give a thought about the current government and comment on what scholars should do.
>>385522Right? I hope we didn't miss out on hiring Yu FanHe's da best
And the thread goes silent.
>>385554Scholars should aid able men.And bring up how hoping things remain peaceful forever is very similar to hoping things remain stagnant forever.Without times of trouble from where can heroes arrive?
>>385554Strengthen the people, for it is they that will carry us through this time of strife, even if we are the ones to lead them. Our duty is not to flee, but to look to our people and see them safe and prosperous for the good of all."
>>385554Say that supporting the people is just as supporting the Han. Would you sit underneath a crumbling wall? Or would you try to fix it?
>>385598>arriveAfter the scholars laugh at me tell them I meant>arise
>>385554That the current situation with the government is deteriorating. The Yellow Turban's were a symptom of the problem and their defeat won't stop what's coming. I feel that between the Eunuch's incompetence and the recent conflicts something drastic is bound to happen within the Han and the whole balance of power is going to shift.I feel the best thing the scholars could do is to find a leader outside the Han that they think is worthy, someone that can weather the storm of the coming days and protect their people. The scholars, with their wisdom, can help these heroes in finding prosperity and security even a chaotic time such as this.
>>385554>>385554The Han falling is pretty much an inevitability at this point. The faith in the Han has obviously crumbled, evidenced by the size of the Yellow Turban Rebellion.Furthermore, the Han is full of corrupt officials, and even the Emperor can be led astray by corrupt family members, many of whom have been able to accumulate too much power, and have used that power to further corrupt the Han, placing officials that would support them. The easiest example of the corruption is in He Jin. He was given his position because he's a relative of a consort of the Emperor. He did nothing to prove he deserved his post. Furthermore, he raised many of his own relatives to positions of power. The Han is a diseased, rotting shell that will soon become a corpse.
>>385627>yfw we are talking to Liu bei
>>385645If it's Liu Bei, I'll be glad to turn him away. Guy abandoned his own kid, and when his kid got returned to him he threw that kid on the ground. That kid ended up being the death of Shu, since he was an idiot when he grew up.And then he goes around spouting off about Benevolence and being "All for the People", whilst messing his family up by betraying a cousin(Liu Zhang) and messing up his kid(Liu Shan). Plus the novel glorifies Liu Bei, as if he can do no wrong.
>>385645We know who Liu Bei is since we fought with him. We would recognize him if he were here.
And while we're on the subject of BENEVOLENCE...
>>385663I know. I think it would be funny if we walk up to the guy while his back is turned, shittalk the HanThen he turns around
>>385659Can't see shit captain
>>385668I honestly hope we can poach Zhao Yun. That man is a beast of a warrior. He's the Jeremiah Gottwald of ROTK.
>>385681Hell, can we get Zhao Yun/Zhao Zilong? That would be amazeballs.
>>385681He's all the way with Gongsun Zan friend. I can't possibly think of a non forced way for us to get him.
>>385684Well, I mean, we could go visit Liu Bei if we heard he was hanging around with Gongsun Zan. Admittedly we aren't quite friends with Liu Bei, but we are Amicable..
Having dealt with the corruption of the Han firsthand, you quickly give a response to the scholars."The government today is full of corrupt individuals who obtained their positions through nepotism. The eunchs and Chief He Jin are prime examples of such. Many good men and those willing to fix the state are driven away.To serve the government and court at the capital is dangerous and there are many who would work against you. Those who have talent and ability should seek to better the people by serving the local commanderies and ridding corruption where one can."The people of the hall nod at your assertion and the discussion continues. The talk goes on for an hour before the people get up to depart. Spotting the young man you were seeking, you go to speak with him."That was a fine point you brought up Sir," he says bowing to you. "May I know your good name?""I am Zheng Li. And you Sir?""I am Lu Fan of Runan. I have traveled around Jing to further my studies. When I returned back to the Central Plains I unfortunately saw the rebellion of the Scarves and have seen been traveling around the safer roads to pursue my studies. Tell me your story Sir."You tell Lu Fan your beginnings and what you faced so far of of the Han government. He seems kind disappointed at the current state of affairs, especially when you inform him of what happened to an honorable man like Lu Zhi. You finally bring up your current situation in helping the people of Chen and ask Lu Fan's aid. The young man quickly nods."Recently I feel as though I have not been doing much to help people nor have made myself useful. You were correct when you said the talented must work for the betterment of the people. I cannot say I am experienced nor the best, but I would aid you in what ways I can."Lu Fan joins your cause.
>>385706You and Lu Fan return back to the camp of the Dawn Tigers and the new village. You find Hao Xian and some of the soldiers working in the fields along with the farmers while Yang Jing is helping the villagers carry heavy loads of lumber. The village is still coming alive. You introduce Lu Fan to Hao Xian and Yang Jing. Lu Fan is humble and treats the two with respect, earning their respect in fast time. The four of you eat together and discuss matters of the land every night and the friendship between you grow.Lu Fan suggests a few courses of action. He says the Huai river is prone to flooding and as such irrigation channels and dams should be built. He also states the northern roads can hold bandits and rogues. If the Dawn Tigers can protect travelers and merchants they can earn a good reputation around the area while also earning some gold. Lu Fan also suggests training some of the Dawn Tigers as some of the men are still new recruits. What do you do?>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farm>protect merchants and caravans>focus on training soldiers
>>385724>>focus on training soldiers
>>385724>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farm
protect the merchants/caravans then irrigation, then training. We should get our area safe then focus in infrastructure, the people would trust us more and probably provide more recruits later.
>>385706>I am Lu Fan of Runan. Not bad.. Lu Fan was Sun Ce's main strategist in many of his campaigns.Anyway, lesse.. stopping the flooding would be really helpful, as would helping clear bandits... I'm leaning more towards stopping the flooding, as what good is clearing up the bandits if there's no food? People will starve. The bandits wouldn't have the strength to cause the problems to the area that a flood would.>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farm.
>>385724Can we delegate here?Lu Fan would be best helping the irrigation.Yang Jing and Hao Xian could protect the merchantsWhile focus on training our Green Soldiers.
>>385706>>385724>Lu FanYEEEEAH>focus on training soldiersWe're going to split from Chen I assume
>>385742No, the troops of Dawn Tigers themselves are also working.
>>385724>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farmMight be best to wait til we recruit more soldiers then drill them all at once instead of having to do it twice.
>>385461>Incredibly tall manCould it be?
>>385724>>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farm
>>385724>>aid with the irrigation and dams of the farmGotta have a proper foundation if you want to build a house.>picking the humble guyYou fags, can we stop bending over and spreading our humble assholes for 5 seconds?
>>385890Lu Fan is a pretty good acquire, don't bitch too hard
"The land has long since suffered from famine and hardships. This contributed ti the rise of the Yellow Scarves. We must focus on aiding the people, and in turn. allow us to have ample supplies."Lu Fan nods to you and finds himself impressed on your decision to focus on improving the lives of the people on hand. You order your soldiers to help shovel the land for irrigation channels, chop wood, and load materials for the dams. The people are very grateful and your reputation around Chen grows. A few months in the village of migrants has grown considerably. More people from other lands come to the village and your reputation around the area grows. All things seem to be going well, until one day you hear news that a rogue band has come around Chen. A soldier informs you that a thousand men dressed as Yellow Scarves are around the area. You and the Dawn Tigers march out. You encounter the band of Yellow Scarves and their leader calls out to you."Who are you and what do you want?" "I am Zheng Li and I am protecting the commandery of Chen. The Dawn Tigers and I shall destroy any bandits that would cause harm here.""The Dawn Tigers? Damned," he says with a grunt. "I have heard of your ill-reputation. You have put to the sword many of our kind, even those who surrendered." He draws his blade. "We are but remnants of the Scarves who now hold no home. The cause we fought for has been crushed and we are chased by the Han government. Leave us be, and we would hold no quarrel. We only pass by Chen to the eastern lands where I hear we may be given refuge."How do you respond?>all Yellow Scarves are scum, kill them>let them be on there way>try to convince them to join you
>>385829I say we look for the tall frivolous guy at a later date if we can.>>385914No probs with Lu Fan, but the humble do gooder image we keep portraying is pretty old at this point.>>385918>>try to convince them to join youSpeak to him of how we were betrayed by the Han government for failing to bribe a eunuch and all that.
>>385918>try to convince them to join you
>>385918>try to convince them to join youIt's 1,000 men. Most of these guys are just peasants who are tired of the Han's corruption, and we literally said not long ago about helping the people. Here's our chance.
>>385918>all Yellow Scarves are scum, kill themThere is no way in hell we're getting them to join us, and letting them leave will set a bad precedent.
>>385918>try to convince them to join youSo long as they are willing to renounce their ties to the Yellow Turbans and settle down, then we will have no reason to be enemies and we can live together in peace.

>>385918>>try to convince them to join you
>>385918>try to convince them to join you"I don't know what drove you and your men to join the Scarves back then, but I'd wager it had something to do with how corrupt the Han was and how your livelihoods were trampled because of it. The war is over now and we are rebuilding. If you renounce your ties to the Yellow Turbans you can join us, either in protecting this land or cultivating it for prosperity. You can have a home again."People turn to banditry because they aren't content with their lives. We can give them work and a home.

"We have recently helped a group of migrants settle in this area. We too have been mistreated by the government and we are starting a base here. If you are true to your words and will not pillage, why not join us?""Join you?" he spits on the ground. "And kill us like you do with Guan Hai? And Pei Yuan Shao? >>386029>Letting former rebels/possible bandits free to cross our landsyeah, this will do wonders for our reputation, and will surely convince the villagers whose homes were more than likely destroyed during the rebellion that we'll protect them.

>>386043We follow them out of Chen. Then they are someone else's problem. If they even become a problem.

whoever of you wishes for a home come with us ,everyone elseGtfo I'm sure this guy dosent speak for the entirety of his force
>>386018>let them be on their wayWe only have 500 more soldiers unless we got more recruits since I last saw. I don't think we can risk a lot of casualties at this point in time over some yellow turban rabble. Plus, we likely wouldn't be able to kill them all, and the remnants would potentially scatter throughout Chen and become bandits seeking revenge against us.
>>386061>>386018I do like this if we can do it.
>>386061course, we could also extend an invitation for him to return and join us if he doesn't find fortune where he's going.
>>386061This works perfectly
You shake your head."Then I am sorry if we could not meet a mutual understanding. But in times of war, you as a warrior should understand the consequences when you joined your cause. I will leave you and your men alone, but only until you have left the borders of Chen.""So be it," he responds. "Keep your distance 5 li away from us and we will hold no trouble."You agree to the man's term and follow suit. As per his word, the man leaves Chen and heads for the eastern mountains where he and his men decide to take refuge around the lands of Xiaopei. You remember that is the territory of Tao Qian, and whatever those former rebels do, it is Tao Qian's problem now. As you make your way back to your base, you pass by a village where some come out to greet you. They ask what happened with the rogue band. What do you tell them?>tell them the truth of what transpired>embellish the story'; they were bandits and you drove them off in fear
>>386084>tell them the truth of what transpired
>>386084>>tell them the truth of what transpired
>>386084>tell them the truth of what transpiredThe turbans may have been bandits, but they were also generally peasants dissatisfied wih the han. Embellishing would be an outright lie and we'd probably have to roll, and if we failed we'd lose a load of respect
>>386084>tell them the truth of what transpired"I had wished that we could all work together to make this land great, but I fear the scars of the war are still fresh."
Should have killed themNo room for banditry in times like these
Though you could embellish and lie to the people for more fame and trust, you keep it honest inform them of the truth that had transpired. You remark to the people of how you wished to see Chen more united but the unfortunate circumstances have proven otherwise."I had wished that we could all work together to make this land great, but I fear the scars of the war are still fresh."To your side, Lu Fan nods and finds himself further impressed with you. Your honesty and goodwill seems to have garnered his loyalty and respect. "We are ever so grateful for your protection," the villagers state. "This land has seen much strife, but with your presence here, I think we can be safe. Please continue to safeguard us. We have named our village Xiaodan (Little Dawn) in honor of your help. Please continue to safeguard us."You have now established a base at newly found village of Xiaodan. The surrounding villages as well unanimously support you, and you become the unofficial Intendant of Chen.
>>386170Force info: http://pastebin.com/0e7vF6mZYou are now your own force that holds your own territory. This comes with the responsibility of maintaining your lands and force. Your gold has been added the force treasury, totaling 500 gold.Your troops need supplies. The number you hold will be simply referred as “low,” moderate” “plentiful” etc. Having lots of supplies will allow you to go on campaigns and battles longer while also improving morale. Low supplies will degrade morale, and should worst comes to worst, no supplies will lead to starvation. Obviously having a high number of soldiers means you need more supplies and lands to back up your food source. You can use gold to buy items for yourself, improve your lands, and buy weapons for your soldiers. Your officers and troops are assumed to be paid and you receive income every six months from your land taxes. Typically you can Your troops now automatically assumed to have standards weapons from swords, spears, bows, and armor. You can purchase horses, improved weapons/armor, siege weapons, ships with gold to make them a more elite force. Your troop's training also ranges from Recruits > Adept > Trained > Veteran > Elite > Crack. Keeping alive veteran and experienced soldiers will greatly aid you in battles. Troops can be trained to Trained status and after that they must see battle to improve.
>>386170>you become the unofficial Intendant of Chen.dickass government official showing up to annoy us about this when???
>>386177Is there anything of geological significance in Chen?passes, bridges, etc? General terrain?
>>386177The year is now 188. Your force controls Chen commandery and you must now work to improve your lands. What do you commit to do for the next few months? A few actions are available to you, but you can be free to do anything you wish and originality is always appreciated. For instance, you may wish to build a school in Chen and the like to attract scholars.>improve markets >improve farmlands>improve defenses/walls>ask for volunteer troops500 gold>recruit soldiers: 1 gold for 1>improved spears: 1 gold for 1>improved armor: 1 gold for 1>improved crossbows: 1 gold for 1>horses: 1 gold for 1>rams: 100 gold for 1>catapults: 100 gold for 1>warships: 100 gold for 1 (can hold 300 men)
>>386186The River Huai divides your southern border to the Southlands. Mountains are to the east. Most of the land are grasslands with small hills and valleys spread throughout.
>>386197>>improve farmlandsFor now let's focus on not starving. Switching it up every other month with one of building better defenses.
>>386197>improve marketsMore money early the more we can invest in things.>recruit soldiers: 1 gold for 1250 soldiers>horses: 1 gold for 1250 horses.Make a cavalry task force for protecting the land.
Going to eat and come back in 30 mins. Try to come to a consensus on what actions to take, and again and original ideas you want to input are welcome and rewarded assuming they are good ideas.
>>386197>>improve defenses/walls>>ask for volunteer troops>>Train the 300 fresh recruits with the 300horded to lay the foundations for a dedicated cavalry force>>386212We already have 300 horses for a cavalry in comparison to our 1500 men, total
>>386205>The River Huai divides your southern border to the SouthlandsAre there any ferrys or bridges we could use for the purpose of collecting tolls? If not can we work on setting that up?>>improve markets
If we have mountains we should build a mine to supply more abundant amounts of metals for weapons and tradeMaybe make a huge surplus of weapons or seige weapons to sell to the anti-dongzhou crusade at high prices?
>>386197>improve marketsWealth and safety will bring more people, then we can focus on farming and education.
>>386238That wouldn't be a bad idea if we can get a good flow of resources, work on that with a good flow of grain and we can set ourselves up for some good old fashioned war profiteering.
>>386287I presume that means we focus on farming, THEN market first?
>>386287>>386238Or make ourselves a huge strategic target. We should get prospecting when our markets are set up and then begin mining operations when we have a force capable of holding our borders.A tentative plan could be:Markets (+prospecting) -> farmlands -> school -> defenses/walls -> recruitment (+outfitting) -> training -> mining
>>386305Well, we've already got stable agriculture, suppose we could get started on something else then come back to agriculture.agriculture+economy then military I say. Perhaps we could look into reforming the bandits that are rumored to be around us? Could even put them to use as a rudimentary intelligence network if they are at all capable.
>>386197This initial sum of money should ideally be invested into the commandery.A short term investment into the economy will lead to increase economic activity and prosperity in the future, leading to increased tax income.
>>386309>Or make ourselves a huge strategic target. It's a good thing we have friends like Yuan Shao, things come to it we could always swear our loyalty to him if things got too dangerous for us.
>>386341Yuan Shao is to far away mate.
Is the current plan to improve the markets? And yes, investing gold to improve the markets as well will provide more growth. >>386228No ferries or bridges. The river is large that if you ever want to go Walder Frey it would cost quite a bit of money to make a crossing.
>>386350Yeah improving markets early will give us a higher revenue to spend on stuff while we improve other things.
>>386341I'd rather throw in with Tao Qian given the proximity and knowing he won't take advantage of us.If we wanted to go full Cao Cao we could also pursue the bandits we just let go into Xiapi and dispose of them to gain Tao Qian's favour.
>>386350Sure. Make the expansion orderly and precise. Design it with military maneuvers in mind.
>>386350Invest the gold. I'd say invest 300 gold, that'll leave us with a reserve should we urgently need to pay for other costs.
>>386350>No ferries or bridges. The river is large that if you ever want to go Walder Frey it would cost quite a bit of money to make a crossing.Well I suppose it's a good thing we're looking to expand our economy.Anyone else on board for going Walder Frey with it?
>>386348>>386354A powerful friend a ways off is better than no friend, being friendly with Tao Qian won't hurt either.
>>386369Sounds like a plan.We can build large barge boats for the crossing and reap the economic benefits. That we can also use the boats to train a civilian navy that can easily translate to military work would be a plus.
>>386369Not just yet. Let's build our town up first a lot yeah?
>>386350>>386369>>386378Also we can perhaps use the river to ferry materials from the mines if we get that going. It would be really helpful if we could have a more accurate map of Chen so we could see what we're working with.
You remember that the village of Chengfu in your northern borders holds a relatively healthy trading post. It lies close to the heart of the Central Plains and investing in the area could prove useful in the near future. You talk with Lu Fan about the prospect and he agrees it can be a good idea."I stayed in Chengfu for a while. It is mostly a village where merchants and travelers from other lands come to trade. What could improve our economy and give us better taxes would be for Chengfu to have its own specialty in selling wares. What that ware is... Well it can almost be anything. Clothing, wine and spirits, pottery to name a few. What would you choose Lord Zheng?"Build...>clothing stores>wineries>pottery makers>other
>>386378Course from using barges as a ferry we could eventually upgrade to a big fancy bridge/castle I suppose, and it would never hurt to have some naval capabilities.>>386389Definitely, didn't mean start off right away, but as a goal to work towards.
>>386369I'd back that. Controlling a bridge would be useful.>>386398>pottery makersGet dem kettles, man
>>386398>>wineriesSince we plan on beefing up our agriculture wouldn't this go hand in hand?
>>386391Problem is that it's kind of difficult to find maps for ancient China that lists commanderies, cities, terrain and the like all at once, especially in respect to Three Kingdoms era. Sometimes the details of the map kind of conflict with one another. Here's another map to where Chen commandery is relatively located.
>>386398>OtherWhat would things like ink and parchment fall under? If we plan to build a school in the future we could get some good trade from the scholars who come when they buy locally.
>>386398>>pottery makersDiversified from wines. Wines are dependent on grains and if we have a bad harvest, it creates a domino effect.Pottery also allows us easy storage of food and provisions so that they'll last longer. This'll better supply chains for our troops, longer better storage of excess grain and diversified industries.
>>386469That is a fair point. We could always expand another village to specialize in one or the other couldn't we?
You think about Chen which is mostly agricultural. Grains from the the farms can be used to create baijiu and you see no reason not to go this route considering the land of Chen. You inform Lu Fan to draft plans for some liquor stores and breweries to be built. As you are about to implement the plan, you are visited by Yang Jing.“Zheng Li! I heard that you were going to build breweries around the area. A fine idea, but you forget to leave the right man in charge for this job!” Yang Jing thumps his chest. “Me! I can create the best liquor ever!”Lu Fan chuckles.“You might know how to create wine Sir Yang, but can you be in charge of building the breweries and hiring the respective staff? And to ensure materials make it to the brewery safely and account for the details of wares sold and money earned?”“Shut it you brat! I'll leave that to my assistants. I only need to create the drinks.”“Very well, let me be your assistant in that regard then,” Lu Fan says with a smile and bow. “One thing Zheng Li,” Yang Jing says. “Creating baijiu from grain is one thing, but wine from fruits is another. Fruit wine hasn't been in these lands for that long and most of it's considered a luxury around the richest cities. Give me some gold to obtain grape seeds and let's also begin planting some grape vineyards around here.”Do you give Yang Jing 100 gold for this endeavor?
>>386517Yup. Go for it.
>>386517Fortune favors the bold, lets go all in.
>>386517Go for it
"How could I refuse you?" you say with a smile to Yang Jing. "I will give you 100 taels of gold and leave the matter in your charge.""Hahahaha you won't regret it Zheng Li! The Yang Jing Wines will start selling like hotcakes!" Yang Jing boasts as you hand him a pouch of gold. He excitedly leaves to begin his venture and Lu Fan follows."And I will be there to make certain such a terrible name will not be put in our brand," Lu Fan says."Kid, I will break your nose and when women see you you won't even ever lose your virginity." It seems the duo left in high spirits. The season passes and you are informed that the breweries have been successfully established. Yang Jing traveled northward and obtained grape seeds, and after returning has begun growing the fruits. Your income of gold should increase as more time passes.-100 gold, commerce increases in Chen.-----------------------------------------And that's the end for this session. +2 Lea for leading the people to Chen, +2 Int for scholarly discussions, +2 Pol for governance. As always will inform 24 hours ahead when the session will be up.
>>386555Thanks for running
Oh and the sharp ambitious man was Shen Pei. The tall frivolous and ruthless man was Cheng Yu.Any questions that won't spoil future stuff are welcome.
>>386555>>386579Thanks for running.>we missed out on Cheng YuI voted for him and regret nothing. Also here is 10 minutes in paint for a rough map of what I think Chen looks like. Mountain divide in the East, river roughly congruent with the map in the thread and the locations of the two villages we know about.
>>386579Ah, dammit. What a pity. Just missed out on some gems but thats fine. Thanks for running Arpeggio.
>lost Shen PeiDamn it you fags.
>>386579is the local area any defensible? In this case when the imperial court comes, what is the normal procedure? Will they just appoint someone to oversee or just integrate the lord and lands back into the system.
>>386646Right now you have no defenses but your troops. Chengxu has walls but they aren't that great. The Imperial court doesn't care for you. They're dealing with internal political problems with He Jin and the eunchs, rebellions in Liang and Changsha, and as stated during this period power was given to local lords to govern outside of the capital lands. Yuan Shao quitting his job as a minister to gather troops and men at the north would be considered a rebellion normally except the court is dealing with too many problems.
Are there waifus in the forseable future?Peasent or otherwise?
>>386665Any hotspots of trouble near us?Did we stay in touch with the Liu Bei?
>>386687>Liu Bei?can we just not
>>386680Yes, though that's not in my priority list.>>386687No real trouble. Liu Bei is getting cucked by government officials near the capital. But otherwise no, not really staying in touch.
>>386727Well at this point we're friendly to him.We have no reason to be antagonistic to him and we did bond a little over common circumstances to lead troops.
honestly there is nothign wrong with Liu Bei until he forms Shu.
>>386861well then perhaps he should die some hero's death and let us recruit his generals.Better he die while hes fine rather than turn into a faggot.
>>386680The only Waifu that matters is Lu Lingqi.
>>387362Git fucked! Yue Ying!
>>387362>>387376Who gives a fuck about getting a waifu, we need to focus on getting more advisors and officers.Women are like clothing, brothers are like limbs.
>>387403>Who gives a fuck about getting a waifu>we need to focus on getting more advisors and officers. Not wanting a Waifu who's an Officer or an Advisor.
>>387647most of the unclaimed waifus are mediocre in intellect and politics, I'd much rather have someone like shen pei over someone like lady fan or lady liu
>>387815Why can't we just have peasant waifu?
>>387815Every waifu is 'unclaimed' technically with us so early in the Three Kingdoms Age. Seriously if we could snag Yueying or Da Qiao who has good POL, INT, and CHA we'd be golden.Bet it's a pipe dream though.
>>387950Nah not a pipe dream. Least not yet.
>>387647Going for anything other than a political marriage is dumb
>>389597We can just get an officer cool with polygamy, and get more than one waifu dude. This is ancient fucking china, we can have a wife and take concubines for political reasons.
>>389602tbf waifu faggotry is lame and annoying so
>>389608Except there is barely any, and people are just shooting the shit until the thread dies. Anti-waifu faggotry is kinda toxic, considering we can just, y'know, get a bunch of waifus because again, ancient fuckin' china, man. We can get one wife for love, and concubines fo' days. Get enough concubines to build an actual palace out of them to keep our wife in.
>>389608So harem? Harem. alright, it's agreed upon
>>389608Get fucking used to it.You are in 1. A Quest on 4chan 2. In a setting where people have waifus from games and media based on the same setting 3. In a time period where polygamy was fine and 4. the girls have stats that you want to acquire like officers. You are SOL if you don't want this to become a thing. Not a huge thing mind you, but an aspect of the quest.
>>389613Eh. I don't have anything against having lots of concubines and shit, but it's faggots like this what make it so faggy.>>389617>Get fucking used to it.No, I'm afraid I never will you turbovirgin.
>>389613Be funny as fuck if arpeggio came back though. Still think it's Raian under a different name. Be really kick ass if he used Ravages characters for certain people.
>>389614I'm down with that.Just like Yang Jing said"ALL THE BITCHES!"
>TFW we didn't grab Zhang He and he's probably partying with Yuan Shao up north
>>389631No Zheng Li said that.
>>389630Watch Zhu Xing be an NPC and Wu Bu happens again.
>>389633Our officer poaching game has been absolute shit all around really.
>>389635Right, but it was partly his idea I recall.
>>389644I was indifferent back then honestly.
>>389644>TFW Getting Sun Ce would have been a good idea as confirmed by the QM, and anti-Ce-fags murderboner killed the questWhy else would it end immediately after killing him, hm?
>>389647I just think its really funny people metagamed like fuck thinking he would betray us because historically the Sun family had the territory we were taking. When in reality, the character himself in that timeline did not feel any sort of ownership of the land.
>>389647Nah. It continued for another thread or two I think. But im not sure as its been awhile.>>389646I was hoping ya would offer the ritual comeback.
was Sun Ce dying two years ago really such a big deal
>>389650>I was hoping ya would offer the ritual comeback.Shit I honestly don't remember. It wasn't something as simple as AntiCeFag pls right?
>>389655Cefagpls fag pls
>>389653I liked fighting him. And i samefagged the vote back then so we would go north to face yuan shu rather than south to recruit more shit
>>389658I liked the entire quest. I enjoyed it so much I try to replay the scenario in ROTK X as close to it as I can
>>389663I would have rather run that quest into the ground and have it become shit due to Raian losing all of his enthusiasm before just having it disappear like that.
>>389668He just moved to /a/ like a fag. Shitting up threads, namefagging there.
>>389675>moved to /a/nooooo, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyYYYYYYYYY~QQQQ!!!!
>>389653For a lot of meta gamers and people who thought they should win everything. There was a lot of people who only played DW that basically wanted power fantasy recruit everyone get all waifus and shit.>>389647I'm pretty sure QM didn't say that. He said if you had a lot of CHA/INT and worked on plots and shit it could have maybe worked but Lu Bu and Chen Gong probably would have been annoyed.People need to stop meta game shit. SunCe in that quest wasn't the Little Conqeror he was just a rival warrior who never got a chance to rise because we cucked him with Lu Bu proto Wu.
>>386861Nah, he was always a faggot.
>>389687>People need to stop meta game shit.Seriously this>I don't mean to be meta but...just don't
>>392265Seconding. Metagaming is what I don't like in this quest and what has been bad in the other TKQ as well. People were going out of their way and totally against character just because they wanted to meet/waifu characters they only knew from the game/series. It would help if the QMs would just change people's names from the original to avoid the most extreme metagaming.I still like the quest though.
I just want to poach Zhang Liao.We might be able to do that....maybe?
>>392579That's cubersome and annoying though.Basically the QM should disallow any metagame decisions that make no sense. We as players should also shut down bullshit like>oh hey Zhuge Liang is in this area so lets make our char go there and search for talent
>>392689>oh hey Zhuge Liang is in this area so lets make our char go there and search for talenthang on i'll fix this for you>oh hey Zhuge Liang is in this area so lets make our char go there and murder him
Since we might not be able to poach Yellow Scarf officers should we look to some of the bandit groups that popped up?I remember quite a few officers used to be bandits and pirates before they joined up with people so it might be a good idea to scout out talent in them. Also we need some ships at some point. If not for war then for trade.
>>393059Bandits should be put to the sword and have their heads planted on a pike as a warning to others.
>>393074>Not wanting Gan Ning>Wanting to be some edgy lawfag
>>393077Gan Ning is overrated. Not to mention not even near us.
>>393074Nah, ZHou Tai and Gan ning were some pretty good officers, I also know that there were a few mooks Liu Bei used, one even took a hit for him and died because liu bei took a chance and employed him.
>>393079He's just one example of a former bandit turning out to be a huge badass. I'm not trying to go all meta, but being all "JUDGE DREDD MOTHERFUCKER KILL ALL BANDITS KILL THEIR FAMILIES BECAUSE THEY MIGHT BE CRIMINALS TOO" is kind of retarded.Hell, by the standards of the time WE'RE a bandit. Also a rebel.
>>393083>Hell, by the standards of the time WE'RE a bandit. Also a rebel.Only if we lose.
>>393080I'm trying to remember what that fucking guy's name was now.But anyway the point is that there are going to be some decent officers in bandit groups, we just have to sift through the trash to find them.I kind of like having limited access to good officers like this, makes it more challenging but it feels more rewarding when we accomplish things.Maybe later we can get some really good ones also anyone know of any officers we might run into in this region? I freely admit that most of my knowledge comes from Dynasty warriors so I don't know much.
>>393088There's Zhang He. Who we should've grabbed ages ago when he was still nearby, since preventing Cao "Widowfucker" Cao from getting him would have been totally fucking great.
>>393093Speaking of Cao Mendge. What will we do when he marches on Chen ?Fight, swear fealty ?
>>392919>wanting to anger KongminIt sounds like you want to be thwarted by the one man army.
>>393098We can Ally with him, we just need to start gobbling up some territory so he thinks twice about marching on us.
>>393107I was thinking Yingchuan or Pei >>385006Might be good and manageable.
>>393074Putting people to the sword should only be applied to truly vile filth and people who cannot give a good explanation as to why they're bandits or their actsLook at at zhou cang, he turned into an alright dude
>>393093>Everyone keeps saying we should grab Zhang He like it's the simplest thing in the world.Okay fags. Lets actually think about this. How do we get Zhang He? Write steamy love letters like we did for Sun Ce in the previous TKQ? Smuggle him out of wherever he employed?I'm open to ideas here. I'm tired of the 'Why haven't we got him yet Reeee' I keep hearing.
>>393156Why would he even wana join up with us when he can be with Yuan Shao ?I mean. We know he will go to shit but that hasnt happened yet.
>>393162Well he might like us more currently. I'm not completely sure if he is with Yuan Shao right now.Maybe we should honestly set up a correspondence with him at first just sending a letter just to see how he is has been and how he is doing with no real ulterior motive behind it. Shoot the shit pretty much while getting a feel for his situation and if he might be open to recruitment.
>>393162Zhang He works under Han Fu right now.
>>393199Alright that's good. Han Fu wasn't the best.We might be able to persuade Zhang He to join us with both our friendship, somewhat competence as a ruler, and the excitement of being part of something new (iffy on that last one, we haven't been truly tested yet as a faction).Maybe letters at first like mentioned above then organize a personal meet up sometime.I do think that if we are going to be on recruitment drives we need to fucking grind some LDR and CHA before hand. I want to get to the point where CHA rolls are at least best of three.
>>393221We need to have another fight with him first.
>>393260Hey look at what you found anon! A pretense for him to come out and meet with us personally sometime.
Personally, I say that the solution to the wole metagaming stuff is to make us roll for Incentive every time we do something that would not entirely make sense in-character.So like, if we encounter some benevolent-ass fuck that's just being good and shit, and we usually do good things, but then decide to just kill this guy simply because he'll eventually turn evil in the future - even though our character doesn't have appropriate evidence on-hand to prove that - , we'd have to roll for incentive then - and probably need a big-ass roll to succeed.Of course, I can also see this probably not working at all.
>>393577Dude slow down. You're making this whole metagaming thing out to be way more than it is.Of course we aren't going to kill Liu Bei or Zhuge Liang just cause we know what they become in the future if Zheng Li has no reason to do it.It's never been that bad and it never will be. You don;t need to make a mechanic for that.Seriously, y'all niggas are making mountains out of molehills. Relax.
I wonder if Zheng He is still loyal to the Han? If so, getting him to join us could be tricky
I say we fill up some of our ranks with generic made up officers in order to avoid too much general stealing and meta gaming.
>>393654Cefagpls fag pls
>>393665cefag pls fag pls fag pls
>>393658Dude we are so early in the timeline that it isn't stealing as much as picking someone up before they join their original faction. And I don't why people are freaking out about this 'metagaming' boogieman.Like what have we done that constitutes as metagaming hardcore? Knowing that the Han is going to fall? People in character already guessed that.
>>393682Honestly you can metagame and still make in-character decisions.
>>393693That's exactly what I am saying.I can say 'Man it'd be nice if we had Zhang Liao with us' out of character as a comment. And that doesn't mean suddenly Zhang Li is going to turn on his Zhang Liao Spidey Sense and travel across China to beg him with kettles to recruit him. We'll take the opportunities we are given when it comes officers. And everything else really. But we can't force shit to happen.
>>393704Kettle best waifu.
>>393712We need a waifu that specializes in tea.
>>393725Cant we not just go to the nearest merchant town and pick some whore from a brothel and make her our wife ?
>>393704But you know if Liu Bei came to us and made us an excellent fucking offer we're going to shoot that down despite all our in-character interactions being positive and Liu Bei seeming like a good guy to Zheng Li because of fucking MEMES, metagaming and LE FUCKING SHU FAGS SHOULD DIE EDGELORD AMBITION XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
>>393725So...the Kettle then? Pretty sure she specializes in tea.>>393727And be boring just cause you in particular don't want to deal with that aspect of the quest? Nah.
>>393732Dont you talk shit about my whorefu!
>>393727Maybe for a concubine but not a wife. Especially not First Wife. That goes to a Daughter of someone we absolutely want on our side.
>>393736>>393735>>393732>>393727WHY DO WE NOT HAVE A YELLOW TURBAN WAIFU!!!!!!!!??????REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>393730I'm happy you think the worst of this playerbase. That we'll throw everything away cause of memes. I like to think we are a bit better than that, but to each their own I guess.
>>393740Becuase you touch yourself at night.
>>393743This is the playerbase that made Raian commit Sudoku and got buttflustered when we lost a battle against Jia Xu because we acted like idiots.I'm surprised you have faith in it.
>>393754It seems a bit different though. But the core seems to be the same.
>>393736Yeah I think First Wife is restricted to either political or merit (really good stats).>>393754But we both are aware of that. And so is every player that was part of old TKQ. I think we learned from our mistakes. Also this playerbase is smaller so it's less of a stampede of raging bulls whenever a vote comes up.
>>393758Yeah, thank god for /qst/ right? :D
But seriously guys we need more LDR and CHA if we are going to be a faction leader.Ministers can deal with POL aspects and Strategists can deal with INT aspects and our WAR is solid right now. INT in general is good though...
>>393770Our War is kind of small actually because we haven't been training or dueling ever since Zang Ba. 72 is like... Wei Xu and Song Xian tier from the last TKQ.I say our priorities next session should be:1. Raise troops. Ask for volunteers to defend Chen and use some gold to hirr as well. Hopefully we can get to 5000 troops, at least 3000 so we aren't freaking bandit small band size.2. Get War to 80ish, 85 if possible. I like Zheng Li to be a warrior first and foremost because that's our origin and begining. Lets make him train a bit next session.3. Start looking around for one more general type officer and one more advisor admin type. I think pur army would be pretty good and domestic good for holding a small territory at that point.
>>393730We will discriminate him based on his freakishly large ears and not metagamingPlus as far as we know he's literally a nameless peasant mat weaver
Stats: 66(+1)-72(+1)-48-45-53 (Lead-War-Int-Pol-Cha)Our stats at beginning of thread.I'd like to see our Int and Cha into the High 60's low 70's before Lu Bu shows up to party n the Central Plains. War into mid 80's and Lead into high 70's. That should make us a lot more formidable.
>>393758One positive thing from /qst/ is that its very hard to samefag.
>>393934>>393934>>393934hahahahahahahahahaoh wait, you're serious!LET ME LAUGH EVEN HARDERHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
