The Kingdom of Roggar is an iron-age kingdom compromised of humans, goblins and demons of various faiths.
After fighting battles against the centaurs in the south, we set up border defence posts. We learned that the norsemen tribes had been united by a great warrior, Knurig and together with the mighty Kingdom of Paitras we assembled a fleet and sailed north to gauge the strength and intentions of the norsemen. To the surprise of us Roggarians, Knurig was willing to not only uphold peace with neighbouring human kingdoms, but also convert to the faith of the Pantheon and to help form a Human Alliance. This defensive pact between the human nations binds us to help each other if under attack by nonhuman forces.
Soon afterwards, the people of our Kingdom were divided. The growing influence of the faith of the Pantheon conflicted with the demons of our realm and their interest, as the Pantheon was opposed to them converting humans to demons(the only way for a demon to procreate). Resplendant Wave, a magical being that had reached the power of a demi-godess, refused the offer of joining the Gods of the Pantheon in Heaven. The more radical Pantheon-believers labeled her cult a form of heresy and wished to have her killed. Narrowly escaping death by javelin, Resplendant Wave has fled the Kingdom, her destination unknown to us. Some have followed her out into the seas. The rest of us, however, march onwards to find our destiny in this world.

Mercurials are a group of monotheistic intelligent ex-farmers, who moved to Nayte in the pursuit of knowledge. They worship Abagar the Wise, and are respectful of Charodei, Lord of the Arcane, and Wave, Patron Goddess of Dragon's Tomb.

Hey Bulgar, I believe it is about time I set up my own faction, "The Guild of Trusted Advisers". We are an academic group of phillosphers who are set upon preserving and expanding upon the art and science of our civilization, while also guiding it's rulers and Kings to victory. We don't take sides in civil unrest between factions (unless the sake of the nation is at risk) instead favouring a more diplomatic approach. However when it comes to foreign affairs we are staunchly human supremacists and believers in the pantheon. We currently have a wish to construct an academy in the kingdoms capital which I will roll for on the next turn.

Good to have you here, put an appropriate name on and make a list of assets you have. Also, are you Pantheon believers? The Gods Abagar(who taught humans to use parchment for scrolls and to organize their knowledge, for instantce) and Juras(who taught humans complex laws and structures) could be popular in your circles, perhaps some in your Guild could be priests of said Gods, wielding their spells.
I really should put down a description of magical spells that the Pantheon has.

After years of research and effort, you're able to develop a more advanced form of golem, but what is it?
You guys, [ick one of these:
A.Laborer golem - capable of carrying heavy loads with ease, essentially a magical mule
B.Farming golem - while not as capable as an experienced farmer, this golem does not tire and can work day and night tending to crops
C.Mining golem - capable of toiling endlessly in the mines to prospect for ores, one golem is worth several regular miners
D.Military golem - this golem can easily break skulls with his powerful hits and can withstand many hits and will never question the orders of his master

Now, golems need magic fuel on a regular basis and are made of clay and take quite a bit of work to build and still need maintenance every now and then.
They can be fueled either by sacrifice/artefact or a magician who's recieving mana from sacrifice/artefact or a God. Mana can be transfered from one vessel to another fairly easily, it is an energy that is not freely generated just by waiting and needs a source though.

The two biggest causes of Goblin death are Centaurs and mining accidents. If they're more efficient than our current miners we can maximize output of goblin resources and free thousands of Goblins up to pick up trades like goldsmithing and create the formative beginnings of a middle class.

Hey, can I join as political and social movement?

"Eneadai" formed as response to current events: discovery of Malkosi tribe, horrible battle of Heraclea that left hundreds of families shattered, more and more agressively growing Pantheon faith left humans living in Roggar lost, pressured and fearful of chaotic times they lived in. At the same time, growing discontent with atheistic ways of demons and their kin and events surrounding Resplandant Wave was what triggered the formation of this new faction.

Eneadai is a hybrid cult of Old Gods and Pantheon (heresy) that believes New Gods to be shards or avatars of Old Gods.

Eneadai put big emphasis on continuity and permanence, change is illusion of human perception.

Eneadai honor Darkness and Earth the most and have rituals and practice meditation to commute with those Gods. They often congregate on moonless nights and in caves.

Eneadai oppose violence and war, but are against all non-humans. Lots of them are widows and children of soldiers killed in conflicts, as well as discontent inhabitants of regions near Nayte and Dragon's Tomb. They make beautiful pottery. Some say about the Eneadai village/circle hidden deep in wood south of Nayte at cave complex and salt deposit.

I'll call it for B with the king's vote tipping the matter of golems.
On the general matter A was chosen, so let's combine the two, in a way.

Farming golems have been introduced. Few exist at the moment, they are being employed to work in places where humans and goblins have a harder time working the land.
Overall, the Kingdom's efforts have been focused on agriculture and growing our population in the last few year.

>New faction, lets hope this isnt shit

Northwest of Vahkrin, at the crossroads, a small band of dark and shifty people sit together at their camp. These are the followers of Mor, Lord of Death, come to preach his ways to the Kingdom of Roggar following Wave's rejection of Gyolas and her disappearance shortly after. Rumor has it that the locals refer to them as "The Corpseborn".

Good to see religion-focused factions.
Now, about Mor, he is one of the more influental of the Gods(Hence him being called Lord). His priests oversee burials and protect cemetaries. They are actually enemies of necromancy and seek to uphold the barriers of the planes of existance - a soul that has passed from Earth to Heaven or Hell deserves to have its body rest eternally.
Now, dealing with death and helping people cope with this does tend to make most priests and warriors of Mor a somber, sometimes unfriendly bunch. People don't like having to interact with them, but when your loved onces have passed Mor's priesthood is there to help you. Still, they're not necromancers, just a warning.
Essentialy, their domain is the sanctity of life and death.

Yo fucker, we just gave the kingdom golems. We want knowledge all over the kingdom, so we built roads and canals. My next goal is acadamies in all towns and cities, so keep your antidemon propaganda away, especially when we agreed to follow your shitty laws.

>>
>>393509
Ok so you want an explanation? Here's my goal at the moment. Expand the academy system we have at Nayte and have a board of experts in charge of what people learn. That willl include fire magic from demons, water magic from the demons who learned that from Wave, farming, construction, basic sciences and maths, and specialization as well. Our golems are an attempt to create automation so indivuals are free to pursue their academic interests without being forced into a job they don't want.

All I've done in these threads is science, and so I hope you and the pro-human crowd are fine with that. Hell, demons fight each other easily, so if we do encounter more who are hostile, I say kill em.
>>
>>393523
I don't want Nayte to be a monopoly of knowledge it give you way too much room to plot.

Creating golems is like creating demons. It's futile attempt to circumvent Gods and laws of nature.

Golem is nothing but another mockery of human nature and his cyclic nature. Human is awake and then sleeps and is awake again, he works and then celebrates, he puts seed in spring to harvest in summer and to prepare for winter and to put seed again in the ground at another spring.

What Nayte does is another mockery of humans that will only bring more and more misery in the future.

>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6aLLo-Vr70

We've been sending frequent scouting parties along with our southern allies, the Malkosi, to warn us of any advances from the centaurs and ogres.
Usually no news is good news.
We haven't had any skirmishes with either race in several years now with only the occasional sightings.
Now we've seen that the territories closest to our borders seem abandoned. Trackers have determined that there's been a massive...movement. Ogres have been passing through the western swamps in great numbers, going from northwest to southeast. Centaurs have also headed south of the lands around Heraclea. We had been spotting ogres in the southern edges of the eastern swamp as well, but now there are no more to be found there either.
What's perhaps most peculiar is that we've not seen or heard of the lizardfolk traders in two years. Usually a trade ship would arrive, bearing exotic foods from the south, two times a year.
We've heard rumors that Paitras is mobilising their armies, and yet they haven't fought any battles in the last 10 years...
The last time an elven merchant passed by was six months ago and he was trying to get his business done as quickly as possible - the man had been a frequent visitor, at least once a year for the past 15 years, and was never one to rush a deal, himself being well over the age of 100 and still feeling very healthy...
What could all of this mean?
We'll find out next time, in this thread. Maybe tomorrow. Until then, have a good time and don't get too SPOOKED

Man missed the whole thread. Glad we expanded the golem to be farmer as well. Should be great for Nayte's economy.
I say just focus your faction vote on increasing our tech it will help the nation anyway since we are developing it. And they moan about us even when you help construct an Academy in another city when they complain we are hoarding learning. Turn around and say we are some how going to take over by expanding/building schools around the kingdom.
My shamans are likely powering most of the golem we make anyway. Once the chance comes up I am thinking of increasing our magic.

Either way, I just love that our human friends are the ones arguing for us. Feels good to know that we've developed enough of an ethos to officially be considered more asset than liability. I remember when we were considered time bombs that were going to open up some chthulhu-tier shit with bad rolls. Feels good to be respected citizens, fampai.

Just let the guy believe as he pleases, as long as he doesn't hurt us or our institutions in any way, he's harmless and should be treated with the same respect as any other citizen. We're all working towards the betterment of Roggar at the end of the day, regardless of how spooky any of us may be. You ever want a golem for your garden, you know who to call, Asturex. Love ya man

Eat human sustenance. So they eat human food? Wtf are you even saying.

War golems aren't great right now becauss golem tech in general is pretty unreliable, and shit like ogres and centaurs would still tear through them like they would tear through the first tanks. Once we refine things, then we're going to implement them for general purpose military usage. Flame-attributed golems here we come. Can't do science without eventual obligatory "horror of war" shit.

So out of curiosity, has anyone laid "claim" to Shekelsburg? Or have I not been paying hard enough attention?

I wanna start a Merchant's Guild, primarily based in Shekelsburg. Start minting coins, hammering out trade deals, supporting the arts and crafts, exotic things and what not.

What things have we not been fully exploiting? That gold rush seems bretty good. We can gather up a load of gold, pay miners, and have it to trade later to other nations that value gold as much as we do.

I've been lurking for so long on these threads I feel like a fucking plant only now spurting out the ground.

>>395774
Shekelsburg is owned by the Goy clan. Its gem mines once collapsed and more recently an earthquake destroyed the entire mining town, but it has since been rebuilt(though I haven't seen Goy in this thread).
We're not minting gold coins at the moment and we should do it.
Goy is a settled clan that's heavily focused on trade and finances, but you can certainly create a Merchant Guild faction that's not a clan, but a professional union.

Faction: Duchy of Gobopolis
After the liberation of the mine the goblins set gathering into a lose alliance around the greediest and smartest of the former slaves Foreman Swift-Hands. Swift-hands was the runt of his litter and was forced into becoming even more swift and ruthless then other goblins to survive deep within the ogre mines. An expert miner he leads the goblins in search of more wealth in the ground and the advancement of gob-kind now that they are free from enslavement. In recent years the Swift-Hands family has be given control over an autonomous goblin state within Roggar, though there are a few rebels against said concept they cannot stand against the true might of a united gobbo front.

We'll fight in our own way!
As our Kingdom is home to three races, our troops are made up of the best balance of them.
Humans form our hoplites, who use shields, pikes and swords and fight in phalanxes; Our cavalry, which charges with lances and then fights with swords; Our archers who rain arrows upon the enemy;
Goblins make up our light infantry - they lie in ambush or fight as skirmishers and use javelins, bows, spears.
Demons are few in numbers, but make up for that by being our toughest warriors and magicians - they wield the best equipment and are present at critical locations, where the fight is toughest.
Goblin and human shamans also use elemental magic, while the Pantheon priests use the New Gods' magic, which makes our men's resolves stronger, our aim true, our shields hard.

The King has now passed away and a new one must be chosen at the Contest.
Only humans outside Nayte may send forth a candidate. Give a description of your candidate, their name, age, abilities and what they promise to do as Dragonking. Roll a 1d100 along with the description.

Both sides have accepted our envoys and their leaders tell the same tale - their people are fleeing from a great danger, an ever greater and more savage horde of warriors from a race called "Orcs". These orcs are being led by dragons.
These centaurs are natives of the steppes south of our lands, while the ogres come from forests and swamps in the east, west and south. Further south lie the orcish badlands, where the warring tribes have been united by a group of dragons. They are headed north and have pushed the centaurs and ogres to flee for their lives. They ask that we let them pass and that they find free lands where their women and children may take refuge, while the men prepare to fight, if need be.
A.These are lies, these barbiarians are trying to trick us! We will fight them at every turn if they try to enter our lands!
B.Let the ogres and centaurs pass, there is mostly unsettled region between here and the Kingdom of Paitras that they can use, we must find peace with them and face this common threat

With most of our forces focused in the west, we've managed to hold out the defence lines around Vahkrin, using the terrain to our advantage as much as possible. Things haven't been going as well near Lueceric and the eastern bridge though.
Lueceric is under siege now as the neraby border post has fallen.
The eastern post was taken over very quickly, the dragons must have helped, but we can't be sure - no one lived to tell the tale! The bridge south of Great Nest is now being contested, we're trying to hold the line until reinforcements arrive.
Four days into the invasion.

We finally set our eyes on one of the four dragons - this one belongs to the Flame Element. His flaming breath roasted the defenders of the western outpost alive and under his lead the orcs have now taken Vahkrin. Thankfully, Kulargi reinforcements have arrived and strengthened the western side where Muttvile is now the frontline.
Our forces were down to 14 000, but with the Kulargi we now number 20 0000.

A.Keep up our strategy of slowing down the enemy conventionally
B.Burn all the bridges, pull all of our troops and civilians on the other sides of the rivers
C.Assemble as many troops as we can and try to take out that Flame Dragon
D.Assemble a party of adventurers and elite fighters to take out the Flame Dragon

Who will risk their lives in this daring raid?
The Flame Dragon leads the westernmost horde, he seems to have taken residence inside the ruins of Vahkrin. The party will have to sneak past orcish lines and enter the town, kill the dragon and get out. Many will surely die, but slaying a dragon can tip the balane of this war in our favor.

Who will you send? Up to 2 companions with your hero possible. Describe their equipment and abilities and let's get ready for a Dragon Hunt

67 years old but through rigorous Training and good amount of Knowledge our clan shared with the shamans he is still able to fight.
He may be considered a liability but we all know how hard people who don't care about their lives but care about their Kingdom fight.
He is trained in the holy magic of Kovag and thought it may not be useful in battle he does own a very sharp Brand new DragonIron (steel) Sword that may or may not be to heavy for his old arms.
>Eric of The Tajo clan
the Tajo clan is still alive but lives under the command of the Notajo clan which is the branch of the Fused Tajo and Nota clans, Eric is the Head of the Tajo clan, he is 45 and growed old but is a skilled spearman.

The Daemon League elects to send Ano, who's an accomplished fire mage, competent with very basic water magic, and a respected swordsman, armed with steel armor (think lorica segmentata-esque), a steel shield, and a primitive steel longsword, all enchanted to resist fire and heat to a certain degree. He also has the standard set of demon-strength mana potions. Accompanying him are two golems filled with high-grade mana potion and covered in basic water enchantments learned from Wave. Basically watery little suicide bombers.

27 characters from the factions so far, let's say there's another 13 for a classic WoW-sized raid. Those 13 slots can be filled by anyone coming in later.

So, with our preparations ready, the party sets out from Muttvile! Vahkrin is not far, on a clear day you can sometimes see one town from the other. However, the way is paved in blood - it is a battlefield on which every couple of days clashes occur and hundreds die.
We are the white dot, allied forces are green, enemies are red, we're trying to get behind their lines and enter Vahkrin where the Dragon nests.

Now, give me three rolls for our journey there

The expert hunter Aurora Dragonfist and Great Crow, a master of gorilla warfare, guided the party through oricsh lines undisturbed and we now find ourselves in Vahkrin. The town is ruined, most of the houses were burned to cinders by the dragon's attack. The dragon has taken to nesting in the central part of the town, where he holds captives for food and hoards treasures the orcs have sacked - primarily gold.

What tactic should we employ?
A.Wait for nightfall and attempt to sneak up on the Dragon
B.Go in hard and fast before anyone can react
C.Wait for him to fly off to some battlefield and then go to his lair and prepare an ambush for when he returns

Plamnokas had just finished his fiery stream and was seeking other targets. Without his eyes, he had to rely on other sences - sound, vibrations, smell. With all the meat he'd charred, smell wasn't cutting it, so that left sound and vibration. The golems made an obvious target and he focused on them, crushing them with his arms, but that gave the other enemies enough time.
The goblins jumped onto his neck and started stabbing all over. As he was trying to claw them away, arrows continued to strike him, while mercenaries cut and stabbed. He roared and tried to fight these mortals off, but they were too many, swarming all over him. His front left leg gave up first, then his right.
Plamnokas did not die a glorious, spectacular death. His was death by a thousand stabs, slow, gruesome, painful, bloody. He continued struggling, but his neck was too wounded to allow him to spew fire, his eyes could not show him the light, his scales were broken apart, his legs were being cut up. Eventually he stopped moving. Several minutes later the cuts and stabs also stopped.
Of the 40 adventurers, no more than 10 have survived, but the Flame Dragon is dead at last. A cause for celebration!

This is the fourth dragon our people have killed. Many brave warriors lost their lives in this process. The orcish horde still has three dragons leading it and their advance has at best only been stalled.
Word is coming that the halflings are sending supplies and reinforcements, while Paitras and the Norsemen are assembling their fleets.
No word from the centaurs and ogres, though.

Hey Bulgar, how viable WOULD making a 7-8 foot tall golem able to carry a demon pilot be? If that's possible, could we take it a step further and stick iron plating on the thing?

What I'm asking you here is, how viable is magical clay/iron power armor at the given moment?
>>
>>400003
It would've been possible if you'd gotten the
>>400000

Anyways.
A golem is a clay construct about the size of a larger human. We have only farming golems right now.
What you'd bee looking at making is an exoskeleton.
You need something big that's hollow inside with enough space to fit a demon(6'2" and 240lbs on average, for you amerifriends),
So that means it must be able to
1.Be piloted from the inside
2.Protect the pilot from hits
3.Be able to move around
4.Be able to do stuff

Now, a large amount of materials and even larger amount of time and magical fuel could produce such a construct. It would need continued maintenance as well.
The end result would be something cool, but really, really expensive and not much more protective than a good suit of unenchanted armor.

I think I won't be continuing today, since I'd have to make a new thread and I don't want 4 of mine on the catalog.
However, you can ask questions here, I'll check it every now and then and answer. Or just chat, share ideas, artwork.

Alright, appreciate the response. Good to have a Q&A day every now and then, as well.

Regarding armor and our recent development of basic steel, I assume that we're more or less on Roman-tier armor like pic related? If so, how widespread is quality iron armor throughout our military?
>>
>>400142
Can gods present visions to multiple people at a time and/or speak directly through their believers?

Is there any way to become an avatar of a God? Death isnt a problem if that's what it takes.
>>
>>400142
When will you include legions in our forces?
Since we trained legionaries
>>
>>400230
I keep track of the Kingdom's assets, factions keep track of their own.
Our royal army is made up of hoplites, primarily. We had the option to reform to Legions, but the players chose not to.
>>400201
Yeah, we're not at lorica segmenta yet, we're around 2nd Century BC.
Our main infantry force(professionals, that is) are equipped in full iron sets(greaves, chestplate, helmet, shield, pike, short sword), that's why they're called iron hoplites.
When we raise militia forces, they get whatever's left, which is largely bronze when it comes to armor.
>>400212
Gods are not bound as humans to only be able to look at one thing at a time. From the Heavens, they are able to observe the world and they speak to those who hold faith.
As the story goes, the Pantheon first spoke to the humans from the tribe that founded Paitras - they were under the rule of dragons and wished to set themselves free, but lacked the power. In desperation they turned to prayer, even though they had not seen or heard from the Old Gods, they still believed in a higher power that would save them and the Pantheon granted its knowledge and power to the faithful, giving them magic to expel those dragons.
There are no records of humans being posessed by a God's spirit.
I'm making a second pastebin in which I'm detailing info on the gods, but I'm lazy and I've left it half-finished for now.

Can individual factions make significant tech advances, or is that relegated to nation-wide shit? I know that we did golems as a team, but I'm thinking more actual tech-tree shit. Like, concrete, for instance.
>>
>>400349

>>
>>400376
I got a question for you Bulgar.
Who's your favorite player? Or should I say your favorite dice roller?
I got my my internet back:^)
But really here are some real questions.
Can their be friendly dragons?
Can you slow down tech a bit? I love the speed but l would love for tech to be gained through time.
Is this world as big as Earth?
Can you give us a size how big is our kingdom? (Km are fine but in America :^)
Good job, this civ faction mix is really coming together and staying together. I think you have a really popular civ in you hands. Keep it up
>>
>>400510
I have certain ideas for making tech advance more balanced, you might see them soon, in fact.
Our entire Kingdom is less than 3 % of the continent we are on and that continent is one of several. Probably not as big as Earth desu, in my sketches(I've only made proper world maps on paper so far) it's turned out to look like there's a higher percentage of land compared to water on this world as opposed to Earth(If Earth has 70% water, this world has maybe 55%, or at least that's what my maps look like). We've explored less than 10% of our continent, I'd say.

It's roughly 100 kilometers from Dragonstomb to where the river splits into two, I guess.
Longfork is one of the three biggest rivers on the continent,we've explored 60% of its length or so

In the previous civ, the whole thing with the planet being a moon is something I made up later to explain having a smaller world, kek
>>
>>400600
Thanks for explaining. You could just add more land masses later on. So it's as big as Earth maybe make a jew shape island or some groups of islands. Anything is possible.
I see you didn't answer my other question. But I already know the answer. :^) No need to tell the other.
Maybe with the tech you can have us reach a wall that can't be passed.
Or something else.
That all the questions I have and from the start in your old thread I saw that jew in the landmass. I didn't say anything because I thought everyone saw it. Guess some people never did.
I made a new title since I help kill a dragon. Kill its right eye helping blind it with Erden help, who got the left.
Any power gotten from killing the dragon? Any blessed magic from the gods giving a permanent bluff to faithful servants for killing the dragon?
Or you cover that in the next thread?
That my last set of questions, thank you for answering them. See you in the next thread. :^)

Oh, right, the dragons.
They are important to the Main Story.
You hit him with an arrow, IIRC. You've certainly gained some prestige, but what happened with the legendary Mutt Dragonfist was a very peculiar thing.
The insides of a dragon, his blood, organs and tissues, are all posessed by magical qualities, they make the highest quality magical fuel there is - they are so powerful that no one can survive drinking pure dragonsblood potions, they must be dilluted with water and blood from another being(at best, the race that the one who drinks belongs to).
So, Mutt Dragonfist went in with an enchanted fist and punched a dragon that had reached demigod power level. Now, the enchantment was temporary and it allowed him to make the Dragon Punch that blew Suhkamuk apart. In doing so, his fist dug into the flesh and organs of the dragon and got soaked with the magical essence. The enchantment remained permamently, at half strength, since his fist had come into contact with pure dragonsblood in such a manner.
A similar effect could, in theory, be replicated by putting a very powerful, temporary enchantment on a weapon and plunging said weapon deep into a dragon's flesh - that enchantment, or at least part of it, would likely remain permament upon the weapon. At least that is the story of the Paitran Royal Sword, Dugorez, wielded exclusively by the Paitran King - it is made of bronze and a powerful enchantment strengthens it forever. Some say it is not of human design, in fact...
In regards to the dragon relations, you, the players, chose that we would be hostile to dragons in the first thread. We could've tried being friends with Syuuhei, learn about the world from him, maybe he would've become our demigod.
>>
>>400678
Nah, unlike here, I had no idea what I was doing and I was making everything up as I went. Entire continents popped up suddenly in the empty space in the ocean that I hadn't thought about.
Here, I've actually taken some time to use a pen and stack of papers to draw concepts of the world, write down the races, Gods and so on. Still improvising a lot, but I have more ideas.
>>400728
I'll think of it when we start building ships that can enter deeper waters. We already had a guest or two from the ocean :^)

How do dragons work in relation to the gods, spirits and the afterlife?
>>
>>400770
You will find out sooner or later.
If our civ dies, we'll make a new one somewhere in the same world. Eventually you'll find out. That's the Main Story, thar runs paralell to our own civ's development.

Forgot to ask, can we get to work on producing old Greek-style crossbows after some research like pic related? Really closer to a man-mounted siege weapon than a proper crossbow, and they were less reliable than later, actual crossbows. Would this push things too far for the current tech level, or can we work on getting these little shits? I ask because dragons are fuckhuge.
