Previously, on Wave Chasers

Wave Chaser: Ah shit, why are you killing me, why must you take religion, sea serpent waifu, souls, the boundaries between planes, and diefic apotheosis so serious?

Unexpected Inquisitor:Die heretic!

Resplendent Wave: Fishomancy go! Turn everyone into half-fish mer so that we can flee to the sea.

Wave Chasers: Cool. Let's settle on this awesome island covered in ancient mysterious structures!

Wave Chasers: FUCK there's no food, and even the goats are trying to kill us with heavy metal poisoning. Let's go to volcano jungle island.

Son's of Light: Pussies, we got this. Go ahead and run.

Wave Chasers: K.

Blood Clan: Wooh, hunting! There are so many fun things to kill here! And, any humans that want to try to join our all demon club, well, maybe you could learn magic to make up for not being super awesome immortal strong demons. Oh, I see you learned Bending, I mean, er Kinetic Magic. Nifty.

Waterdawn: By the power of love, we've discovered mer humans can have half-demon babies despite demons usually being unable to have children in return for being awesome.

Daemon League AND Wintermane: Gimme dat.

Waterdawn: Fine. :/ At least we found this cool gem with amazing fire powers.

Resplendent Wave: Gimme dat.

Waterdawn: OH COME ON!

Wave Dancers: How come the frog-people are the straight men?

Resplendent Wave: Don't you want to become samurai who set themselves on fire for battle?

Wave Dancers: :^)

Murlocs: We're creepy, and totally not going to eat you, we promise.

Abyssals: We're creepier, and OMNOMNOMNOM

Murlocs: Damn it, I'm upstaged. >:(

Daemon League: Darn it, there aren't enough mer women for all our science nerds. TO THE DRAWING BOARD! FOR SCIENCE! MAKE THE ABYSALLS INTO WAIFUS EDGEY ENOUGH FOR OUR EDGELORDNESS!

*CRIT FAIL*

Daemon League: And now we're all dark skinned women.. CURSE YOU RULE 63!

Oh I'm sorry I just wanted to be the first one to post, so much for being upstaged.
Well I'm going to be asleep, I'll be back in roughly... a long time.

Pic of Resplendent Wave, local demi-goddess who grants control to her followers over the Elements of Water, Fire, Storm, and Fish, and the Aspects of Protection, Life, Blessing, and Purification. Huge ass elemental affinity chart and exact spell list on request. She's always up for helping people out with non-violent requests, and has hugged a dragon to death on occasion to protect her followers.

Longterm Goals: Free the Demon's Souls from Limbo. And flip off the Pantheon. It's a long story. Civ Bulgar's fantasy civ quest. Go look it up if you like, he's cool.

~~
How to get magic:
A. Think really hard. Works reaally slowly. No fireball today.
B. Sacrifice blood, yours or preferably someone elses. Store in potions, cast ye fireballs.
C. Pray to a god, to store up said thinky hard in A (sacrificing, ala B, also works), so that you can cast ye fireballs later. Unless said god you worship is a ice god, in which case you better like ice magic.

~~

Some things my summary up there might have not made clear:

Wintermane is a Pirate Sea Elf Captain, and there are lots of other Pirate Sea Elves in these waters, they're our trade partners and generally seem to be more powerful than us with an established civilization than us, but they seem alright. They're almost all redheads, and we think they're fire element because of it.

And tons of other shit but I don't really honestly expect many more newcomers.
>>
>>411933
Sorry, I was aiming for comedic effect, for example, flavoring Waterdawn as having everyone take their stuff. :P
>>
Waterdawn:
Nothing particularly interesting happens as a result of your actions. You don't figure out what the weird lead does, though you've ruled out plenty of options (+20 to next roll to figure it out). Other than that, the Sea Elves are starting to take us more seriously, economically, with our own coinage circulating and a lot of civilization.

Daemon League:
Sooo.. That happened. Giant lab explosion turned pretty much all of them into dark-skinned women.

Things your people immediately noticed:
Some previous waifu's are very upset.
Some previous waifu's are very excited.
Some demons are very upset.
Some demons are very excited.
Demon women do not seem to be able to have children, so your situation on having children is even worse than before.
You've lost your fire-element connection, and forge and enchanting work is suffering from the loss. Your livelihood could be in danger!
And... the Sea Elves are offering you a small fortune for the secrets of gender swapping? Huh.

>STICK TO THE PLAN! DEPTH CHARGE THE ABYSSALS!
This will absolutely positively have no potential bad consequences, and will definitely still be a beneficial.
>Sell the secrets to the elves, or at least, what we still have after the lab explosion. Then quickly focus on something else to discover if we've unintentionally gained some other powers.
+Elves, +Short Term Prosperity +Write In
>Maybe we can hold the elves over the barrel, and create some less explosively propagative version, and make money selling small doses of gender swap potions that are baffled to be harder to reverse engineer.
-Elves, +Long Term Prosperity
>Hold the phone, this is possibly a weapon of mass genocide, if used properly on races that age. We have got to weaponize this.
+Gender Swap Weaponry
>>
Sons of Light
>Create a dedicated exploration corps for investigating mystery island's secrets (Manpower)

Go ahead and give me a roll for that. 1d100, as usual.

>>411988
Also, by "fire element connection lost" I don't mean you can't use it all anymore, you're just no more innately skilled at it than humans.

And then:

Well... You could just stop by and say hi, attempt to convert us into praying to you rather than praying to the earth and sea, or you could attempt to get us to stop using magics that offend you. Although, frankly, I need them due to the Murlocs inneficiency.

>While your magic is currently achieved with Wave's power, Wave doesn't know how Kineticism works. If you teach Wave Kineticism, then she can spread it and teach it more quickly. (Magic, Wave)

>Focus on Wave's Fire magic, the idea of a warrior setting themselves on fire..

>Oh? Civilizing us? Please enlighten us, oh wise goddess of fish. For reals though.
>OMNOMNOMNOMNOM

"Wow, there's so many people who want to involve me this turn! I finally get to bring out the 'God Management System' about how to try and convince me to do your thing and...."

"They're eating... my people. NOPE. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Everybody, suit up, we're putting these Abyssals down!"

Wave asks for volunteers to attack the Abyssals in retribution for them eating some mer and force them back into the deep waters.

"Alright, I can only transform so many of your people into mer on this short notice, if I want to still be able to participate as more than a large target."

>Transform our warriors. Powerful fighters with trained formations, we will break the enemy lines!
>Transform our hunters. The abyssals are divided, and we will hunt them down one by one.
>Transform our mages. Water mages fighting in the ocean? We could not ask for a better battlefield advantage.

>>
>>412005
Stop oppressing my cannibal culture! Augh! Fine, ill try to keep my people from eating you, don't expect it to work very well though. Maybe the massive amount of food in your reefs will help, hmm...
>>
>>412005
Oh hey were back neat!

>the snafu with abyssal clan
We did warn them about not eating their own...

In any case for the good of the islands we shall join in the fight as well!

Our met shall hunt them down from the wetlands and keep our coasts safe!
>>
>>412929
You warned nothing! You said "please don't eat us" and we said "eating is kinda what we do, sorry" and then you were like "murder!" And we were like "Allright fine, you weirdos"
>>
>>412938
I'm paraphrasing of course
>>
>>412938
>>412943
Cept we sorta did, we made an agreement to share the spoils of our hunt, but when we had heard that you ate your own we asked polite like mind you, that if your chucking corpses into your hauls to keep that stuff to yourself. We don't cannibalize our dead.
>>
>>413562
Ok, so you requested that a certain variety of meat was kept out of your share, no problem.
>>
>>412287
>>412943

Ok I just realized I was really stupid and vague, and didn't specify between two things.

"Are you just eating my followers if they happen to die nearby?"

Or

"Are you actively killing and eating my followers if they get too close to one of your hunts?"

The first, aka, just eating the dead, I'm not gonna organize a crusade over. I don't like it, and I'd prefer if you didn't do it to factions that don't want you to, but still not gonna organize crusade over it.

The second, which is murder and then eat, yes, I will totally crusade you right back down to the deep.

So, considering that we're all on the level, what is your choice?

>Bring it. Keep killing and eating my mer at the danger of war.
>You haven't seen the last of us! Keep killing and eating my mer, but take advantage of Wave's ultimatum by evacuating back down to the depths in the face of military force.
>Fiiiiine. But we still get to eat you if you die.
>Oh, this was really a big misunderstanding. We really just thought you were asking if we could eat you after you die.
>>
>>414703
Your people, from this point onwards, shall be exempt from our laws of consumption. This means that they will not be expected to provide meat to ensure their continued living and their meat, after their death, shall not be subject to scavenging unless otherwise stated. It'll be a pain in the ass to enforce, but I'll try.
>>
>>412005

Alright, with that out of the way, I can talk about the other things demanding Wave's attention.

Dwellers in the Deep
As far as civilizing the Abyssals, Wave's advice is pretty simple "Get a supply chain going for food where being tempted to eat my people will not be a problem. With my magic around, the statement 'there are plenty of fish in the sea' is reaaaaly true. If you'd prefer to not be under my tail, there was another island, the craggy cave island, that's final special was tons of fish around it. It's also cold, which might be your style. Once your people don't have to worry about spending 100% of their time looking for food and shelter, that's when civilization starts kicking in."

Murlocs: "I'm ok with you guys having your own fish magic, though it is a little annoying to have constant ringing from the lures, I'm used to it, what with answering prayers. And, while you can keep praying to the Earth and Sea, I'm pretty sure the Elemental Gods are dead, or at least greatly weakened. The shamans of the tribes I was exiled from sought the powers of the Elemental Gods for over a century, but only contacted echoes of rage. I, on the other hand, am definitely alive."

Blood Clan/Wave Dancers
"Wow, I really want to learn Kineticism, it's pretty cool... But I also want to help the Wave Dancers with the fire magic thing... It reminds me of yet another promise I made with the demons, albeit, a lesser one. :/"

"Er, yeah, so, I've got some ideas. We could do both, but I'll have some difficulty managing my time. We could try combining it, teaching both me and the Dancers Fire Kineticism. Or one of you could yield voluntarily."

>Do both! These things are too cool not to do. (Roll please)
>Combine them, even if it means the Wave Dancers will have to learn fire resistance later, martial flame manipulation will be an awesome tool for them. (Roll please, no failure chance, but a crit is possible.)
>Hey, it's ok, we'll learn the fire resistance from our metallurgists and Waterdawn's instead. It'll set us back a little economically, but that's alright. (Wave Dancers only.)
>No, you go ahead. (The other person gets Wave's undivided attention)
>>
>>415308
Deep Choices:

>Move to Crag Island. Well, avoiding the temptation of eating your people will be a lot easier. And it sounds nice.
>Stay here. If we wanted to be alone again, we could just go back to the depths.

Murloc Choices:
> Learn Wave's magic.
+Magic -She can turn it off when you inevitably betray us.
>Nah, earth and sea got us covered.

Also, what do you want to focus your infrastructure on, Murlocs? Just making more Murlocs is what I presume as a default, but anything else special?
>>
>>415325
>Stay here. If we wanted to be alone again, we could just go back to the depths.
We want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Our warrior spirit is worth preserving 40k reference FTW so our own flesh will be consumed as per usual, but yes, we would love to be part of your massive tribe. What do you call this new magnitude of cooperation?
We technically still keep our homes in the abyss, (and possibly some future infrastructure) and will continue to do so, even moonlight makes us a tad uncomfortable.

Generation 4

NPC Factions:
Free Masons
Vasarian Group

Mystery Island:

Sons of Light
Fishermen with dreams of magic, fearless explorers despite simple ways.
4 Fishing, .5 Explorers (2.5 Human, 2 Mer)
Faction Specials: Dreams of Magic, Fearless
Faction Resources: Well, pretty much the entirety of Mystery Island that's been settled.
-Elves, +Wave

Still need that 1d100 roll from you for exploration success. To spice it up a bit..

>Search the entryway that killed many from the Moon Jade. Fear cannot stop us!
+Crit Success, +Crit Failure, +Fearless
>Search other entryways. No sense being fearful, but no sense being foolhardy either.
Normal roll.
>Let's stay outside the ruins, investigate the island as a whole. Let's be safe about this.
-Crit Failure, -Success.

Volcano Island:

Blood Clan
Demonic warriors who practice ritualistic hunting to sharpen their skills
Faction Points: 1.5 Warriors 3.5 Hunters (5 demon), 1.5 Divine Kineticists (1 human, .5 half-demon)
Faction Specials: Wild Hunt, Kinetic Magic
Faction Resources: The hunting industry, a few clan halls, that include prep for hunts, and arenas, which now have troughs in the floor for catching spilled water.
Relations: +Elves, +Wave

While most of your Kineticist's use water still, some now use Wave's other elements as their primary style, and many can use two or more elements. The plant that the half-demon ate does indeed seem to be nutricious, even to demons, but whether or not it is the source of his strength is still up for debate. A few humans who tried eating it seem sickened however, and have come down with fevers and nightmares that have not abated.

>Don't eat the fruits. Something's wrong here, even beyond the obvious poisoning. We should investigate further before committing.
>Only let demons/half-demons eat the fruit. If it's poisonous to humans, it's poisonous to humans, but that doesn't mean demons and half-demons should have to hold themselves back.
>Actively cultivate the fruits. This could be a valuable new source of food.
>>
Waterdawn
Miners seeking riches below the Waves, and craftsmen working the raw riches into wonders, harmony between demon and man.
Faction Points: 2 Miners (Mer, 1 Humans, .5 Demons, .5 Half-Demons) 2 Craftsmen (1 Humans, .5 Demons, .5 Half-Demons) 1 Metallurgy/Divine Fire Magic Users (Mer .5 Half-Demons, .5 Humans)
Faction Specials: Unity of Soul
Faction Resources: Elf, crafting halls, great docks, and volcanic vent forges in Waterdawn's resources.
Relations: ++Wave, +WinterMane

After long years of research, you've finally discovered a use for that wierd lead. When combined with some other stuff and iron, it makes a really useful metal called steel. The big problem now is the lack of iron. The elves are willing to accept some small mark-ups for trading you iron to get steel in return, but due to their monopoly on iron supplies for the Wave Chaser's settlements, they won't be easy pickings.

>Don't trade steel to the Elves, they'll probably reverse engineer it like they did the fire enchants, and then we'll be toast.
>Trade steel to the Elves, we need that iron, and we want to keep good relations with them.
+Steel supplies, +Elves

Other goals?
>Find Iron! We needs it! (Specify where you search.)
>Write ins?

The Daemon League (Ano the Daemon)
Engineers, scientists, and craftsmen who seek societal advancement for everyone.
Faction Points: 1.5 Craftsmen, 2 Demon Fire Magic Users, 1 Scientists, .5 Mer Metallurgists
Faction Specials: Edgelord
Faction Composition: Demons, few Merdemons, few Half-demons
Faction Resources: Fire Enchantment labs, supply chain, docks, lovely sea-side property.
Relations: +Elves, +Wave

See
>>411988
>>
Wave Dancers
Adaptable, semi-aquatic part mer, who live in wetlands.
Faction Points 1 Masonry 1 Crafsmanship 2 Fire Kineticist Warriors .5 Metallurgy .5 Hunters
Faction Specials: Underwater Architecture
Faction Resources: Temple to Wave
Faction Composition: Half-mer
Relations: ++Wave

Progress goes well on teaching your people fire magic. You've got both Kinetic and Wave type Fire magic, and with a little, well, a lot of work, you could teach your warriors the art of protecting themselves from fire. But there are some issues still.

>We don't have any way of setting ourselves on fire other than our own fire attacks, which we could just launch at the enemy. We need some non-magical fire. Let's mess around with oil!
>We should learn how to turn ourselves back into full humans for combat. The human form is superior for ground combat, and this whole setting ourselves on fire thing isn't much point in the water.
>We need better weapons. The fire will give us an advantage, but we're wielding bronze weapons, and those were starting to be obsolete, even when we left 4 generations ago.
>We need better armor. Being on fire won't matter if our enemies can just shoot us down from range.

Glurble, of the Murlocs
A group of murderous monsters who obviously have no ulterior motives and only want to help
Faction Power: Warriors 2, Misc 2.5, Construction 1
Faction Special: We have reserves
Faction Resources: Shanty towns and seacaves, walls and ditches.

The Murlocs fortify their homes with series of raised earthen walls and ditches. There's no great layout, due to the haphazard nature of their homes, but that might make them confusing to attackers, and they are many layers deep to mire down attackers in repeated skirmish and ambush.

There are some disagreements about how best to utilize the defenses.

>The Shamans wish to create lures to keep monsters in the ditches! Sure, a few dumb murlocs might get eaten, but that just keeps the survivors sharper.
+Monsters, -Growth
>Connect the trenches and ditches, and keep them half flooded, we're not afraid of the mer, but the demons are pretty scary.
+Ground Defense, -Water Defense
>Focus on raised embankments and towers we can rain down projectiles and spells from, even if it makes us more vulnerable to such attacks in return.
+Ranged Attack, -Ranged Defense.

Note, none of these are mutually exclusive. You can build all of them.
>>
>>418851

+Monsters, -Growth
>Connect the trenches and ditches, and keep them half flooded, we're not afraid of the mer, but the demons are pretty scary.

We're pretty good with aquatic combat, and losing a few idiots doesn't seem like a bad idea.
>>
The Blue Jester of The Dwellers of the Deep
1 Hunters 1 Fisher 2 Light/Water/Fire Mages
Faction Specials: Scary as all get out (eaty life magic), Search for Maoi's Hook
Faction Composition: Abyssal Mer
Faction Resources: Shimmer Tooth

The Abyssals are not fond of not eating anyone they please, but when a few of the rulebreakers are overwhelmed by Wave Dancer or Blood Clan patrols, or zapped to death by Resplendent Wave herself, the rule becomes definitely not a guideline but a rule.

The Abyssals don't like this, and they don't particularly like being too close to the surface either, what with all the extra light. How does the Blue Jester appease them?

>We shall request the Wave Dancers to provide us with homes near the surface to keep out the light.
>We shall request Resplendent Wave to transform us slightly to make us less sensitive to the light, as we do fall under the element of fish.
>We shall eat so many creatures of the light that we shall absorb their resistance to it!
>We'll suck it up. Because we're Abyssals.

As for cooperating with others, what do the Abyssals bring to the table other than fish?

Thats great and all, but uh... we're technically Mer ourselves. Actually to be more specific, we're some sort of abomination of man, fish, frog, and what was clogging the truck stop bathroom last Tuesday,
So... fighting Mer doesn't seem too bad, seeing as how we're better in the water anyway.
While demonic hellbeasts on land are... well demonic hellbeasts on land.
>>
>>418883
I make no claims to being an expert in Murloc psychology, and what they do and do not fear.
>>
>>418904
If I was to classify Murlocs on the Mer scale, I'd put them at the same level as the Wave Dancer's half Mer. Not quite as good as humans or demons on the land, not quite as good as Mer in the open ocean. But you can do both, and have a sweet spot of super shallow waters and wetlands, which doooes include trenches half-filled with water.
>>
>>418880
I fell the source of our discomfort needs some explanation, yes, bright light is painful, but more importantly it changes how one is meant to tell a threat is approaching. Down in the abyss one normally can look at shadows and know, "Hey, there's another light source, what is it?" and look. But up here, one has to look around constantly. Only two creatures don't do the bioluminescent thing, bone crabs and the death swarm. Anyways, I'll go with...suckling it up, it's not like we sleep up there.
Now, on the question of co-op, with the massive influx of meat we can look into abusing the deep fire, see what kind of tools we can make out of the lava straight from the mantle of the earth!
>>
>>418908
Well... I'll give you a basic rundown of Murloc fears
>Demons
>The French
>Cats
>Rather large fishing hooks
>>
>>418914
Thats about where I put Murlocs too, that's why I'm pretty much keeping all settlements coastal, or in swamps, wetlands, sea caves, areas of that nature.
>>
>>418915
Probably tools rather similar to the ones The Waterdawn, Daemon League, and Wave Dancers are making with that trick!

I mean, they'd totally let you in on that action, they're nothing if not cooperative. But it wouldn't be 100% unique to you guys...

I do have a suggestion that might work, I'm not sure. I'd need to brush up my chemistry, or it'd need some earth magic to work.
>>
>>418931
Oh, is there any chance we can build a Prison to store a bunch of too uncivilized even to our standards Murlocs?
>>
>>418940
Well, how fancy you wanna get with that? You could just categorize them as monsters and throw them in ditches.
>>
>>418931
From my research we'd mostly get silicon and aluminum. If we work hard we can make it behave like a metal instead of a crystal. But we are way behind that, maybe we can distill useful amounts of aluminum, but still, we definitely need earth magic to make the best uses of all this.

Also looks like, what with battlefield artillery starting to take the stage, dragons and magic are becoming more and more obsolete, and will be absolutely pointless by guns.

One, lucky for you.

Pretty significantly. Purefags are still majority, but there's a decently sized neutral bloc now, and Inky is keeping purefags in line for the most part. We're finally organized as well, so we're going to be able to expand our influence.

As for the dragons, I honestly dunno. They can still wreck face, keep reading and you'll see we nearly got wiped out recently. It's just soviet-style tactics that saved us, and it wasn't even our own troops we sacrificed. We're also still a few hundred BC atm, and Bulgar has made it clear we're not going to develop all that amazingly quickly. I figure give it a shot, stick around if you like it, leave if you dont. We'd love to have you, and I doubt purefags would still be bent on purging you as long as you stick with edgebloc. They're focused on expanding, we're focused on quality of life stuff and magic research. Of particular note is that there are apparently unaffiliated demons running around.

What are you coming at me with? Boats? Metallurgists? Untrained idiots with sticks? Do they even have illumination? Dost thou even hoist? Are you gonna drop bombs in the sea and hope? Any plans for possible monsters?

Wave, can we eat the idiots who actually swim down into the abyss?

The plan clearly states Depth Charges.

And the reason I didn't want a 5 or less or a 95 or higher, is because those are the only two results in which the insane determination of the Daemon League would have any appreciable effect, with a crit fail or success.

As it is, they did roll "success" So your people will likely have a higher rate of female births for the next couple of years, like 60% or something.

>higher rate of female births
>like 60% or something
Between the females and excess meat, I do believe it's time to breed like no one's business.

Still waiting on Waterdawn and Sons of Light, unless I missed their posts. I'll give it another 12 hours before going on ahead without them.

Did they happen to share ID with one of the Velos? Cause they might be banned.

Where's the update?
>>
>>429696
Soon (TM).
>>
>>430979
Are you seriously trying to trademark "soon"?
>>
>>431395
It's a Blizzard reference.

So, is "When you grow some testes" a reasonable estimate? read "never"
