Previous thread : http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/10535/

Your name is Balthasar, or Frazzles for your friends, and you are an 8 meter long, sentient snake. You are currently tangled around your sleeping owner, Alina Knight, daughter of the infamous CEO of Ares Macrotechnologies. Normally you would enjoy the situation, if was not of the current strange circumstances. That is, Alina and her father along many others being marked as victims of CFD, a nanite virus that supposedly overtakes the patient's mind by an AI personality. YOu are unsure about that, she did sdisplay some traits of multiple personalities under stress. Alina however believes this is an orchestrated takeover by Arthur Voger, the second largest shareholder of he father's company. Her father is presumed dead, and the whole Security Service of Ares attmepted to murder her, along with multiple other high ranked excecutives in a resort you were at.

You are currently on the boat of Jonathan Graham, the mastermind behind her attempt against her life. His hired associates turned against him during to him lying to them. He's currently tied on the lounge.

The other denizents of the boat is the hacker Jax, and the rigger Baxter, who is probably driving the boat. THere was also Zack, an elf that would assassinate Alina without your intervention. He's currently at the bottom of the resort's shore. YOu are not sure how the rest of the team would take that.

There was something about a fourth member, but it was far too cryptic about a "shape in the water".

Alina has decided to take a move against Vogel by presentng herself to Horizon, a mass media corp with close ties to your father. If she can prove she does not sufffer from CFD, The Corporate Court would censure him and his fellow conspirators. But for now the girl is peacefully sleeping in your coils

She also told she loves you. You are unsure how you feel about that.

That's why you are on a boat. So Alina can get away from Ares and somewhere where she can contact Horizon officals without being found. I suggest you read last thread. It's in the OP link

the hacker seems to know a thing or two about what's happening outside of this boat so let's ask him what he knows... and maybe run into party member #4

seconding this

Hi again Lads ^^
>>
>>42030
>>42007
You slowly untangle out of Alina who is snoring peacefully, with a smile on her lips. You feel glad she managed to get some peace of mind.
You slither out towards the main room, where Jax is checking at the large ARO screen on the wall of the lounge. THere is multiple strings of data and information in binary or english you do not quite understand. "Morning omae" Jax greets you, raising his mug of Soycaf(TM) "Hope you slept well, i got a whole lotta info from last night. I also did some wireless scanning of your girl, the results were sorta weird".
Graham, who was tied and bound to a chair in the same room, is nowhere to be seen.

Slow thread tonight hmm

You lock eyes with him menacingly, making the old hacker gulp down. "What kind of testssss ?" You ask, quite suspicious.
"Nothing serious chummer" He says a bit nervous "Just you know, a scan for ware and filed on her, see if she's bugged or something"
You blink. "Oh, my apologiesss, that ssounds sserious. WHat did you find ?". You hope it's not those nanite things, you wouldn't know what to do in that case.
"Well uhh...i dunno how to break this to you mate but...uhhh.."
NO.NO.NO.NO.
"She's a personafix junkie"
You tilt your head and half of your body in confusion. At least it's not nanites....but he makes it sound a big deal. "Tell me more about thiss..." you say, worried
"Well, personafxes are basically a kind of BLTs, Better Than Life CHips. I guess someone like you doesn't know jack about this but i'll explain. These chips are basically very very advanced multimedia tech that sort of temporary fucks with your brain in a fragged up way. It completely changes your personality and way of thought. For example a personafix programmed for a "tough n cool" personality will make even the wimpiest nerd think you he's the biggest and baddest fragger there is, and he will act like that.
YOu are very confused, and a bit scared. "Why would Alina ussse such chipsss ? I don't undersstand"
Jax shrugs "Well, i am no psych student but from the two types of personafixes i found i can deduce some things. FIrst is the typical "action hero" personality, fearless and merciless and capable going through hell. THe second is some short of "corp CEO" thing, dady's little girl you know. I guess they are some kind of coping mechanism for all the drek she's been through"
You do remember her sudden personality switch after the lighthouse. Perhaps that's why she was suspected as a CFD victim ?
"Anywho what do you think i should do with the chips ? I could delete them if you want, easy enough since she hasn't a commlink, but i dunno how she might take them"

>"Delete them, they can be dangerous to her"
>"Don't delete them, i'll have a talk with Alina later about this"
>"Don't delete them, but keep tabs on her and tell me if she ever used them again. "

so random question while we wait. would it be possible for frazzles to get cyborg arms so he could actually hold a gun or something down the line?

Considering the situation we're in, having her be able to switch to a personality that is better suited to the situation instead of growing into it would be more conducive to surviving.
>>
>>42475
Cyberware would mess with our Adept abilities by dropping out Essence.
And our nervous system is too alien for the cyberware nanites to set up the control interfaces.
We may be able to do a power suit of some kind with custom built controls, though.

"Do not delete them. I will have a talk with Alina later about thissss" You say after a thought.
Jax shrugs again "Whatever floats your boat omae. Hope you get through her, resonafixes are messed up things"
You nod as you look around. "WHere isss Graham ?" you ask. He was very dangerous as it was and you would not even like the scenario of him arounf the ship doing who knows what."
The greay haired hacker scratches his head. "Ummm yeah...about that, remember when i said we had a fourth member on the team ?"
"Yessss ?"
"Well...she uhhh...she short of ate him. "
".....What"
"She uhhh...she came in last night, i was jacked in and Bax was busy driving the boat. She talked tyo him and interrogated the uy about the situation. THen he said some "insensitive comments about her heritage and ancestors", she lost her temper, threw him overobard and...ate him. SOrry, she does that alot"
Your confusion is reaching critical levels. "What exactly isss ssshe ?"
"She's uhhh.frag if i know. Basically she's an animal that can transform into a human ? Or the other way around ? I am too afraid to ask to be honest. In any case, she's a murder machine in both"
>"I...i think i need to talk to her. WHere is she right now ?"
>"Well that's has been taken care off. Tell about the data"
>Ask Jax something else
>>
>>42590
Would it cost essence to build an exosuit?
>>
>>42615
We would lose Essence due to the nanite cyberware interface disrupting the holistic integrity of our nervous system.
It's why you still lose Essence if you add a third arm, even if you don't replace your existing two meat arms.

"I think i ssshould talk to her...where isss sssshe ?" You ask curiously. This was all new to you, but it sounded worthy of investigating.
"Knowing her, she's either swimming around or sleeping off somewhere in the boat" Jax says "Try not to piss her off, she's got some anger issues."
"I will sssure try . ANd another thing...how long were we out? And where are we exactly ?"
Jax hits up his cyberdeck, swiping forth tabs. "You slept for a good ten hours, not surpised considering what you were up to yesterday. As for where we are, open pacific it is. According to Bax we are headed to some Horizon facility that's around 4 days away"
"I ssseee....i will look for that person right now. Be sure to let me know about the data when i get back."
"Alright, Alina should be awake for that too . Laters" He waves you ff.
You get out to the deck of the luxorious white yacht. The sun seems to be near noon currently, at you enjoy the warm rays hitting your scaly skin as you slither out to the prow. The ocean is light blue currently, with barely any wind or waves thankfully. You immediately catch the form of a female elf around the cruising boat, swimming around it in a strange style of swimming you have not seen before. It is likes she's...flying into and off the water. SHe seems very pale, and lacking any clothes, strange for a metahuman. She's also quite fast, given she can keep up with the boat.

You decide to ignore the woman for now now, and decided to do some sunbathing for the time being. You coil into a spiral as you close your eyes and back into the sun.
WHile doing that, you decided to try to focus, thinkin hard over a certain event during the fight with Zack. You are sure what you saw was not an illusion. It was some short of spirit trying to cotnact you, that you understand from your surging power during tha fight.
Despite your best, it seems spiritual enlightment would not come in a day, regardless of how hard you try.

"Uhh....greeetingsssss" You say, as you turn towards her, your tomgue bringing her scent your nose, quite an exotic one.
She backs off suddenly, getting to all fours before stand upside, trying not to look threatening. "I didn't know you could speak in their tongue in your natural form. " She says, impressed "You should teach me that trick".
SHe must be able to see auras like you to recognize you are not an animal, but seems to think you are something like her. "No, it'ssss different for me" You say softly, trying not to scare her "I am not like you. This issss my actual nature, i do not change"
She moves closer to you again, before glaring a toothy grin. Her teeth do not resemble the normal human ones, they are triangular and sharp. You also notice her eyes are pitch black too. Upon closer inspection, her aura radiates powerful magic, perhaps stronger than yours.
"You have the smell of a killer, You Who Crawl in the Ground " the naked elf continues. THat sounded kind of insensitive but you do not think she can recognize that "You have killed, recently. Your venom clings to your victims, like barnacles to rocks." You can feel her voice growing more threatening " Have you killed the Slilver Tongued Devil, poisoner ?"
Uh oh. SHe must have picked something off your aura from the fight with Zack.

Lost the effing post AGAIN

You coil up to the upper bed to be on ALina's eye level. "Alina, may i ask you ssssomething persssonal ? You have been through a lot of sssstreesss and difficult situationssss recently. I would like to know if you are doing alright with ssssuch a sssstrain, given those sssituations might make you feel inadequate"
She pats your head again and smiles. "Don't worry, it's really crazy and all, but i think i'm getting the handle of it, we have bigger things to worry about"
Trivialization, as you suspected. You remember how worriedshe was when she saw your wounds last night, and how adamant she was that it was her fault.. Her fear is that she's "not good enough", that she's a dead weight and a liability. You are unsure how you can help with that

Two set of choices.
>Tell her you know she is using personafixes. You need her to know that if you are to help, and so prevent her her from lapsing to chips when talking to you.
>Don't mention it. She will tell you when she feels ready to, and she may become suspicious or ashamed if you spill the beans, making her withdraw more into her fake personas.

>SUggest you do some combat training together. If she gets better by herself and gain some experience she won't need a chip for that
>Suggest you go meet the shapeshifter girl. If she's gotta kick out the Frag for good she needs to take her pedal off the metal from time to time.

Bonding sesh with combat training. Use it to drill home the idea that we need to be able to TRUST EACH OTHER absolutely if we're going to fight together, and that a perceived weakness doesn't need to be a problem, as long as you let your allies know, they can cover it for you.

Tell her that we need to be open with each other regarding any shortcomings or dependences we might have. Point some shit to her that we're not good at/weaknesses, and ask her to help have our back on them to make the point.

You move your head closer to your caretaker."Alina...." You begin, trying to finda way to say it "I do worry. Jax told me you are ussssing sssome ssshort of chipsss that are altering your perssssonality. Could we talk about It ?"
Alina's face freezes as she blinks twice, looking at you in a way that starts with denial, and ends in absolute, utter devastation. She lowers her head, as if not even bearing to look at you.
Pain.In your heart.
You quickly wrap around Alina as you sense her sadness, before she considers anything dumb. "I don't want to berate you or be harssssh to you or anything else of the likesss of that. I...I just want to help you. And I will. Promisssse"
She sniffs as you feel her whole body shake. "What's to help ? I'm just a rich good for nothing brat, that can't even defend herself"
"That'ssss not true...and both of usss know it"
"You think ? Tell me one thing, one fragging thing that I have accomplished that's not because of my last name ,or the privileges behind it " This is bad, the issue is perhaps deeper than you thought.
"Me" You say, as you gently slap her with your tongue on her nose.
"W-what ?"
"You heard me. Ever sssince we talked you have taught me sssso much about your world. I must assay that you have been quite helpful and affectionate. And to be brutally honesst, you were the only one that treated me asss a perssson until recently. I am extremely grateful for the way you treated me. You are certainly good for a lot of thingsss"
"Y-you mean that ? Really ?" She asks between sobs
"Yessss" you say reassuringly.
You spend a lot of time recalling all the moments Alina had been helpful to you. After she calms down, you uncoil and rub her neck before landing on the bed."Now....how about ssssome training ?Perhaps if you feel better about your capabilitiessss it will help you with your feelingssss of inadequatecy"
"I...I guess we could try" she says, scooping up her few tears. She feels much calmer, but you feel it would take more than a few hours to deal a who knows how long addiction.

We should probably recruit one of the other team members so she can practice fighting people. It's doubtful that most of her enemies will be a giant snake.
>>
>>50801
> Ask Baxter if you can borrow some old drones for target practice
Guns. Because commlinks can connect a gun's smartlink to a pair of AR specs, and since everyone who can afford them uses them, it won't make her feel inadequate for using a targeting computer.

Seeing as she already has martial arts knowledge, this seems smart. Plus she'll never get caught without a weapon. We're going to need to pick up a good shooter soon though, seeing as both Bal and Alina are close combat types.
>>
>>50887
I was under the impression her martial arts knowledge was a chip
>>
>>50892
Good point, but we can hope that she has some lingering aptitude/muscle memory if she ever has practiced, even if it was just a chip.
>>
>>50905
It doesn't seem like she has skillwires, so there won't be any muscle memory.
The whole point of her using personafix chips was so that she could THINK she had aptitude without any of the work or cybernetics to get that aptitude.

In a world of cybernetic melee implants that are as cheap as guns, vatware muscles, and magical physical enhancement, you need more than a few classes in close combat to be anything more than dead weight.
>>
>>50801
>Go to the deck and practice her hand to hand skills
>>
>>50887
Yea, I feel like you can get the hang of a gun much faster than you can grasp certain close combat tricks, and if she does find herself without a weapon at least she won't be completely useless.
>>
>>50924
Valid points actually.
If her martial arts skills are completely imagined then I guess go for guns.

If she does have some good tricks already, stick with hand-to hand, for the reasons >>50936 pointed out.

So far she has a shock glove and an uzi, remember... Maybe a taser as well, but I don't know whether that was a close range one or a taser that fires from a small distance.

"Let uses ssstart with some closssse combat" you say at her as you ascend the stairs to the deck. You are curious if the years of close combat training were real or the chip talking.
"Uhhh....." She says awkwardly
"After seeing you fragging geek people in a matter of seconds, and tanking bullets with your skin, going against you sounds a little, tiny bit scary".
"Oh don't worry "You say, a little amused "I won't try to hurt you "
"Me neither"
She sighs as she stands against you in the sunlit deck of the yacht. Thankfully the shapeshifer is nowhere to be found, or she could scare Alina.
The girl takes a combat stance in front of you as you rise like a cobra your head to her size. She seems a bit unsure, and there is not the cold hard determination from the chip.

>>
Rolled 70 (1d100)

You decide to let Alina make the first move. You bend your body backwards, ready to spring sideways in the incoming blow. Alina makes a poorly telegraphed attacked that would normally be dodged.

If your mind was not occupied to another task.

Your senses switch to a different environment. You feel its related to your last vision. It seems to be in the top of a corporate skyscraper, though the fine details are fuzzy, as if you are underwater. The only clear figures iare the old lady for before, and a bronze skinned man with white hair and an executive suit.
"So" the man says, sipping coffee from his cup "The slayer meets the prey for the first time. What you think the result would be ?"
"Hard to say" the old woman replied.
Then you get punched. Hard.
When you return to the physical realm, you see yourself on the ground, with Alina having a look of mixed enthusiasm and worry. "Im okay" you reassure her, rising back up .
Gloves are off it seems. Or it would, had you any hands

Just a mistype on my part.

You quickly retaliate with a rapid whip-like movement of her tail. To her credit, Alina manages to raises her hands to parry the tail in her upper body in time. However, she blocks the furtherst segment of the tail, allowing the rest to whip her back. She lets out a cry of pain as she almost falls to her knees, but the last moment she manages to get back up and regain balance. Given the force this would leave quite a bruise. Tinges of guilt already fill your mind, but she easily reads your expression and smiles.
Alina suddenly springs to action, closing the distance between you and delivering a low kick with her right leg aimed at your lower body.

After getting a couple of trauma patches from Alina's medkit, you decide to talk to Jax. The old hacker seems to have retreated on his room for the time being, but a knock from Alina quickly alerts him. "took you long enough" he mutters as he exits his room, his deck in hand.
"So, what exactly did you find ?" Alina asks, her mood slightly worse than before, sounding impatient.
"Well, first one about the crash on the Atlantic." He says as he opens up his commlink "There's a massive restricted area around the crash set up from most triple A corps. They say it was a solar flare .
malfunction but my friends in the shadows doubt it. The are multiple runs funded as we speak to break into the wreckage. I dunno whats inside, but apparently its something one would pay seven digit numbers to have"
"Thats strange" Alina frowns in thought "If it was my dad the corps could have easily recover him, what kind of drek would make them create a safe zone and classify everything ?"
"Drek if I know" Jax says while shrugging"Now for the main crazy thing: Vogel is resigning from Ares"
"W-what ?!"
"You heard me. He says he takes full blame as the head of AresSpace program for the crash and resigned. Either way, this kinda blows your theory about him wanting to take over the corp"
"Not necessarily" Alina says while going back and forth "As of know, the ground forces at the port will have noticed Graham is missing. Perhaps he got air someone got out of his little deathtrap and now he's trying to hide back before all this blows on his face, letting his nephew take the blame. "
"Or its part of his plan. Ares goes tits up with its two highest shareholders missing, then appears out of nowhere like a knight on a white horse to rescue the company and pull it out of the muck" Jax shrugs again

Ares is a megacorp. Those kinds of business work through a massive number of subsidiary companies owned to them. >Is there any big projects that Ares was working on recently?
Alina answers that before jax does. "Dad was talking recently about a rifle to clean Are's stain from the whle Excalibur debacle. I am not really sure what he was talking about but i think it operated on advanced gyrojet technology. Other than that there's the launching of the new Ares space station but that is probably not going to happen with Vogel's resignation anytime soon"

>Is there any way to know how the other AAA's are handling this?
Jax shrugs "Most of them have made the same almost carbon copy speeches about space safety and how sorry are for the loss, but that was expected. For inner info that would need a dedicated team of runners, as you would expect. If i could bet, i'd say they are all getting the hibbie jibbies about Zurich station being compromised and that they are currently looking for a suspect. "
>What about what Vogel's nephew?
"Hell if i know, he's the head of the secret effing service of Ares, i doubt a single session of long haul matrix searching could give me any insight what the guy is doing. He did make a press conference about cracking down on CFD, probably a prelude to making the massacre public. "
>And how is the coverup of the resort massacre going?
" As good as you'd expect. I bet A.I.S.S. has silenced any associates of the dead ones. Whistleblowing would be profitable as hell in this case but ya'know, not lot of people have the right kind of guts for this. But in my opinion it's a matter of time"
>The Ares CEO is missing, presumed dead, and no one wants an interview with his daughter? Not even Horizon?
"THey do, but the A.I.S.S. has uspposedly put her under a tight security blockade on her father's protocol in case things went south. Horizon is nosy though, i don't think that facade will last for long. Especially since when the big D is confirmed dead and his will is made public."
"THat's strange " Alina says, deep in thought, " I supposed thye would say i commited suicide or that i was a CFD victim like the rest on the resort. What kind of game are theyplaying ?"
>ANy underground channels to contact Ares ?

OR we hook her up with another firm publically as an attempt to keep anyone from killing her.

The first is a lot safer honestly, but means she'd have to give up on any revenge or luxury for the short term.
>>
>>58027
Is there anything on this yacht we could use to provide Horizon with some test results showing Alina is clear of CFD?

And this is an Ares yacht? Could AISS track this yacht somehow?
>>
>>58041
>>58027
Throw these two questions to the gang and see what they think. We can empty her personal accounts while we get her SIN burned.
>>
Wait, wait,

Someone apparently killed DAMIEN KNIGHT?

The guy wrestles dragons and shits Ares Alpha guns.
>>

He is PRESUMED dead. THough you have no idea how he could survive his shuttle crashng on the middle of atlantic

>>
>>58027
Ask Alina's opinion on what we should do
>>
>>58155
Options are:
1: live on boat for rest of life
Note: this will be until Ares mages track her down with magic and the killteam arrives
2: Hook up with Horizon and let them hold Alina as a bargaining chip
3: Burn Alina's SIN, drain her accounts and hide until Alina can get this sorted.

>>
>>58194

The last time someone did that, they set off nukes and caused Crash 2.0.

>>

>>
>>58194
>Burn Alina's SIN, drain her accounts
Sure, go ahead and confirm that Alina is still alive rather than having a fake SIN created and used. I'm sure that AISS isn't watching all of her accounts for any activity indicating she's still alive.
>>
>>58267
We drain the accounts while we burn her SIN. Can't track her if there's no SIN*.

What, did you expect for the team to burn her SIN for free without payment, pro bono?

We don't have any funds to pay to get it done if we don't grab them and run.

*this is not actually true
>>
>>58267
That's not how SINs work. Your SIN a link to your fingerprints, DNA, samples of blood, all that crap. You can get a fake SIN, but when someone actually scans your face from a photo and gets a good iris shot, and feeds that into an ID computer, it'll spit out Alina's SIN and her identity.

You need to burn her SIN so that her personal information can't be tracked back to her. That means someone hacking into the various registry offices and relinking Alina's SIN to someone dead, or messing with the index so her DNA on file gets misplaced, or someone burns her fingerprint file or simply brute force destroying a whole swathe of data and corrupting the backups.

You can't just get a fake SIN while you have an existing SIN - it'll last for as long as someone actually checks the info into a database and find that it matches with Alina's SIN.

That's why you need it burnt if you go underground.
>>
> Is there anything on this yacht we could use to provide Horizon with some test results showing Alina is clear of CFD?
"We COULD" Jax says with a sigh "But with all the paranoia about this and the whole Monad debacle i doubt any corp will just straight up accept that claim, no matter how many results you got. They would probably feel the need to run their own tests. THat's why Bax decided we go to the Horizon facility instead of just contacting her. Which i don't really think it's a good idea, for you or us "

"Why sssso ?" you ask Jax. He seems to be much more experienced in such matters than either of you, so his opinion weighs heavily in you mind.
"Well, never forget that Horizon is a corp. And all corps put profit first. What if instead of making her case public they want to blackmail Vogel ? Or if the keep her in a cell for a dreklong of time to be used as a PR weapon against Ares whenever they feel like it. Be it now or in a decade. Hell, if she inherits Dam's stocks, she might just be the spearhead of placing a Horizon puppet on Ares. "

"Well, what do you suggest then ? " Alina asks, clearly worried. Perhaps her plan about Horizon was not as planned as she made it seem.

Jax retrieves another cup of soycaf as he lounged on a dirty sofa. "Right now, Ares doesn't know you are alive. Sure, Graham's kicked the dust, but he had your kill confirmed before our watery friend ate him. This is just a case of runners killing the Jonshon and running with the money. Not really good for us but better than carrying a top priority target. Sure Ares will look into our case, but i heavily doubt they will put much effort in it, they got too much drek on their plate. What i suggest ? Find a fake SIN, keep your head down for a few months, get access to yours or your daddy's accounts and drain as much cash as you can and burn your SIN. "
"That's your proposal ?! " Alina exclaims angrily "Throw everything my father worked for and let his murderer run his company ?!"

"Hey girl, calm down. Currently you are not ALina Knight. You are a nobody on the run from an AAA corp. I'd rather live in the shadows than try to take on an AAA corp or spend my life as Horizon's bargaining chip, but that's just me. You are grown girl, take whatever decisions you want, but you won't go far with that attitude"

>WHat do you say/suggest ?
>>
>>58354
Stick with Horizon, or even go Evo.
Going into the shadows means that when Knight's will goes public, that Alina is out of the picture and Vogel's plan goes ahead, just as he planned.
>>
>>58354
Ssss. Cannot take revenge if you're dead or usessed as a tool by another corp. Better to take your time to sssssurvive. It'sss how lived.
>>
>>58391
Uh, no.
We are the very personification of "tool of a megacorp", and we've done pretty well.
>>
>>58354
Damn, forgot trip
>>
>>58407
That mega Corp was run by Alina's father, who has a vested interest in not betraying us at the drop of a hat. Horizon on the other hand couldn't give less of a shit about us if they tried. Going underground is our best option for now.
>>
>>58460
We need to go to ground, then find people in the corp who our father trusted and were his freinds. e.g. his secretary. Contact them without their internal police finding out, then with results that are verifiable from multiple sources, go public with being alive, the events at the resort, and the fact it was a set up.

This should allow us access to resources through the trusted individual, let us feck off into the dark if we need to, and get the court all up in this buisness investigating things.

With magic its just a matter of time till it all comes out.
>>
>>58460
And what, just survive?
Taking smalltime milk runs because we have no marketable skills?

>>58479
We are dual-natured,and we are a 8 metre long venomous snake. I'd be fucking terrified if a giant snake using adept powers showed up. So,I think these are marketable skills.

My suggestion, is to take Alina aside and have a talk with her about what she wants to do. If she suggests anything that sounds reckless try and steer her towards caution instead. We want our pinkie happy but we want her alive and well more.

That is a good suggestion.

Before an arguement erupts, you tactfully poke Alina's leg with you tail, before going outside. She raises an eyebrow, before sighing and following you on the top deck.
"What is it ?" She asks, slightly angry but far calmer than moments before.
"I would prefer to talk in private about thissss" you say slowly, basking into a slopy surface of the yacht to look better at Alina "I underssstood from before that you wissssh to take revenge for Vogel's transssgresssionsss. But you seem to have doubtsss about Horizon. WHat do you intend to do ?"
"I...i don't know really" Alina says with a second sigh as shepets you "I feel like i am hitting against a wall. I really want that fragger pay for everything he has done, and while Horizon seems the obvious choice, but with Volger's recent moves it seems i don't have all the pieces of his little plot, and i don't know if i ever will. It's just....i feel no matter what i'll do he'll be two steps ahead."
"THat'ssss a normal feeling to have when you are against a masssive corporation" you say reassuringly "I'm ssssure you can figure ssssomething out"
"Well, currently going low and burning my is the most optimal solution, but then i lose my greatest weapon: My SIN. Unless i can prove i am Alina Knight, nobody is going to listen to me, and while life in the shadows does not sound as bad as death or life on a corp cell, I am not sure that a nameless mostly inept person could survive more than a few years"
She suddenly looks at you in a different, more worrying way. "I...i never asked your opinion. Sorry....what do you think ?"
>I think you should risk it with Horizon, they have more to win if they make it public
>We can survive together in the Barrens and the shadows until you manage to get the funds to get back at Vogel. I'll protect you. We tell them we leave at next port.

>>59342
Join the shadowrunners... Whatever we do, it can't hurt to have these guys at our back...
>>
>>59342
>>Perhaps we could join these shadowrunners. They seem skilled and they have much to win from a cooperation in the future.
>>
>>59365
>>59342
There needs to be a decision on the SIN issue. It's important to be able to verify her identity, but is it worth the risk of keeping?

Is there anyway to prove that Alina is Alina if she's SIN-less? If she's willing to burn her SIN then I say we join the current group. They seem skilled and we have some measure of rapport going, though the whole Zack thing might be an issue.
>>
>>59399
Depends on how it gets burned. As >>58336
pointed out, there are many ways of burning a SIN, from mismatching biometrics to literally erasing it.
>>
>>59418
I feel like one day being able to verify who she is would be super useful, but we can't afford to go up against a mega-corp on the daily...

Can I vote in favour of joining the current group, but having Alina adopt a "ghost" runner identity? As in she wears a mask, goggles, and gloves at all times to avoid cameras/iris recognition/fingerprint recognition (apart from in completely of the grid locations like the boat, very private rooms etc.)? Swear everyone on the crew to secrecy? Obviously it's less safe than erasing the Sin, but I think it's a good balance of risk/reward...

>Plus, a little risk can add to the adventure (as long as we keep a close eye on pinky).
>>
>>59471
That sounds like it would make it very, very hard to actually do runner things.
>>
>>59342
>I think you should risk it with Horizon, they have more to win if they make it public
>>
>>59342
>Perhaps we could join these shadowrunners. They seem skilled and they have much to win from a cooperation in the future.

I would hardly call you inept, you have a breadth of experience that many shadowrunners would never be able to replicate and an intimate knowledge of how corps work, this way you can use the safety of not being Alina Knight and a way to make money enough to figure out the plans of this coup. There is no shame in taking time and careful steps to completing your revenge.
>>
>>59365
>>59399
We don't know these runners well enough to know whether they'd rat us out if the pay is good enough.
>>
>>59471
Isn't the astral identity linked to her SIN,though? if any Ares mages see her, regardless of disguises,we'll be fucked. However, that's up to the QM,I guess.
>>
>>59496
I think masks/goggles/gloves are actually fairly commonplace amongst runners. They can be functional items too remember!
>>
>>59528
That's a good point... Can we discuss with Alina and Jax our methods for SIN identification avoidance?
>>
You know, shes gotta have a lot of PR experience as part of her whole training to be an exec. This group recently lost there negotiator under...tragic...circumstances and could use a new one, I'm sure she could fit the bill.
>>
>>59528
Like every wagemage you meet will have access to the top secret files of Ares inner members
>>
>>59555
We don't know the full scale of the conspiracy. If Ares ever manages to track us down and somehow recognizes her,we are screwed forever. True,it's unlikely to happen, but better safe than sorry.
>>
My suggestion; burn the SIN linking Alicia to it, and when we need to ID her, we can do it as her giant snake pet that was Alicia's.

Also, this is meta knowledge, but there is *no way in hell* Damien Knight would go down to a shuttle crash. And he'd be able to ID his daughter.

Have faith in the bastard that made it to the top of Ares! (Unless he's the REAL mastermind behind all of this)
>>
>>59584
I don't know I reckon risking identification by the 0.1% of Ares mages who are informed enough to recognise her is worth keeping the a SIN from the pinnacle of society, that is our only way to prove that she is who she says. I'm still voting for Alina to assume a veiled shadowrunner persona.

Plus, I would imagine they've got some serious security/alarms on anyone accessing Alina's files atm. I'd rather risk having to snek-smash a mage possibly at some point in the future maybe.
>>
I suggest burning the SIN and going under also

>Perhaps we could join these shadowrunners. They seem skilled and they have much to win from a cooperation in the future.

They could use her to fill the niche of the guy they lost and we make a shockingly good infiltrator. In fact you could call us solid snake.
>>
>>59586
>and when we need to ID her, we can do it as her giant snake pet that was Alicia's.
Why would they believe the words of a snake?
And what evidence do we have that we're not another 8-meter long dual-natured snake, of which there were quite a few from the breeding operation that produced us.
>>
>>59586
Bearing in mind they didn't even know we were sapient pre-conspiracy, I don't think anyone wil have a strong enough relationship with Alina's pet snake to take our word for it, especially if this is all some elaborate plot. Who will take the word of a talking snake over a well respected exec with a private army and more cash than he knows what to do with?
>>
>>59584
>>59586
>>59626
>>59614
Guys, you're also forgetting how cool a crew of a giant talking snake, a shapeshifting elf/shark(?), an orc with an army of robots, a techno-wiz old guy, and a masked aristocrat/martial-artist sounds...

Really fucking cool
>>
Forgive me for even suggesting this, but couldn't the problem of her identity be solved by blackface or by excessive usage of a turban?
>>
Well for now I say we keep the SIN. We can always attempt a burn later on, and the burning process itself might be a bit tough.

Let's ask to join the crew and try lay low for a while.
>>
>>59613
Well. Whatever we do,we must do something abou Alina's appearance, especcially if we do as >>59552 said. She won't be able to use masks all the time, and depending on how well known she is,there's a chance the common Joe might recognise her.(I'm sort of throwing ideas around, because we don't know exactly how it works, living in a terrarium for most of our life and stuff.)

Have Alina tested and proven free of CFD.
The people at the resort looked like they were being killed by Ares Internal Security teams. It's risky, but I'm assuming we or someone in our group knows the extent of what our SIN tracks so we don't accidentally reveal her by not getting her thick goggles or gloves or whatever.
Having her identity essentially be in sleep mode will hopefully prove useful once we get the necessary resources to actually use it again.
>>
>>60168
Theoretically we can just stash her in a safehouse until we can get into someone in Ares who we can trust* and get the company sorted out.

That only leaves her at risk of ritual spellcasting tracking her down, which can be avoided.

The only reason we can trust these runners right now is because if this all pays off, they'll be owed a favor from the top of a AAA corp. And thats the kind of backing a runner would kill for.

>>
>>60371

>>
>>60326
They can sell Alina out now and get a favour from the top of an AAA corp already, and they did just try to kill her. Corp memories are long and if I were a runner I'd be worried about her holding a grudge or simply wiping them out to make sure her little BTL habit isn't known. Corp scum are known for that kind of terriblness, don'tcha know?

On the other, other hand, they just failed their current contract and got their Johnson killed so they probably can't really get much recourse from Ares either. They're in as much shit as we are at the moment.

It's probably ok to risk trusting them, just as long as we don't overdo it.
>>

But if we replace her with the REAL one, she's instantly got control, and she's LEGALLY in control, too.

There's compelling voice, but no compelling gaze.

COMMANDING VOICE
COST: 0.25 PP PER LEVEL (MAX 3)
Adepts with this power have a knack for convincing people to believe them or do things for them in certain situations. For every level of this power, an adept gains a +1 die to any Opposed Intimidation or Leadership tests that they initiate (normal limits apply). If the adept succeeds, then the target(s) will agree to or follow the adept’s next suggestion or command, within reason and depending on the situation. A subject won’t normally harm himself for example, but he may be persuaded that the pretty-boy elf over there was making moves on his girl/guy and that punching said elf is a good idea. Or an adept may convince a corporate secretary to give up some dirt on her boss.
To keep this power in check, gamemasters can also grant targets a situational bonus based on how inclined the subject would be to believe the adept. An adept can attempt to use this ability on up to (Charisma) people at a time, with a –1 dice pool for any additional subjects.
>>
Since AISS already put forward a Fake-Alina, isn't it also possible that THEY burned Alina's SIN by switching the biometrics to that of the fake?

WELL MET

Alina stands beside you, and you are pretty sure she can'[t be a fake. But here is Alina on the screen, giving a heart wrenching interview about her father.
"What...why...how can they even pull drek like this ?" Alina utters slowly, completely taken off by an identical copy of her soeaking on the screen.
"Hard to say " Jax replies as he observes the screen "I-doll drones can be advanced enough to impersonate someone with a good pilot program, but any mage would point out she lack an aura. My guess is they hired a magican that can change his aura. Pretty advanced stuff, but it's definetely not outside a megacorp's grasp."
"So, what's their plan ?" She ask again, making circles " Have "me" take in chrage and fuck up, then Vogel comes in to to save the corp ?"
"Or "you: just ask for aid to run things, given your age, you hire "senior advisors" to run things. Besides this...whoever or whatever it is, is already running things behind the scenes. But it's probably a short term solution. Remeber what was the CC's reaction when a corp tried to impersonate a judge ?"
Alina sighs and covers her face with her palm "Did this accomplish anything other than make us more angry and paranoid ?"
"Well, it means that the A.I.S.S. is lying on it's lower ranks. Graham was pretty damn sure that all of us had CFD because his boss told him so. Meaning that the conspiracy is not as deep as we originally thought. "
"So we are not against the entirety of Ares, just the top heads. Such a relief" She replies sarcastically.
"Hey, at least that means your SIN won't get burnt"

Finally... good idea to talk about the pretty boy
>>
"If you may, can you call Baxter downsssstairsss ? I have sssomething to sssay " you ask Jax slowly, considering your options. It had to be made clear now. If you joined and then they ot the memo, they would never trust you.
"Sure, what about ?" Jax says as he gets inside his bunk to recover a pricey commlink.
"Zack " You say, after some consideration
Jax shrugs "Oh, we know"
"W-what ?!" Alina stutters, her eyes growing wide and fear visible in her voice.
"Last time we talked he was about to kill you, then he stops responding. We can put two and twotogether you know. Plus our watery friend gave our girl the info before he went back to...whenever spirits go really"
"And...you are not mad ?" YOu ask, suprised . You would say that he was cold hearted but it's not something that would go well.
"WHy you think first thing Bax did after he learnt the Jonshon lied to us was to attack him rather than run ?" Jax asks "Besides, this was wetwork, not a tea party. People die, all the time. I'm gonna miss the smug bugger, but i'm wise enough to know the real fragger behind this was that setup of a run Ares hired us for. Well...Bax sees it a bit differently but don't worry about it, he's just frustated. Give him something to shoot at and he'll soon chug beers with you"
"Sounds like your team wil need someone who's goot at negotiating and the like huh ?" Alina says with a smile
"Damn right, after we leave you at Horizon we'll probably someone when we make port at Hong Kong "
"Now that you mention it" you interupt "Me and Alina have decided that thisss might not be our bessssst option at the time being"
Jax grins "So it's a Shadow life for you ? Null sweat chummers, we can drop you off at HK once we get there"
"Uhhh...actually" Alina says, as she tries to smile "We actually thought of rolling with you guys for the time being, "
Jax blinks "You, a runaway from a megacorp that will probably have the whole of Ares settings their sights at you if you are uncovered, along with a magical talking snake, both with no experience in shadowrunning whatsoever, wants to join or team ?"
"Once i manage to drain my accounts there is gonna be a lot of nuyen for you. And i have a lot inside info of Ares and the other triple As. And who knows ? If i ever manage to get my corp back, you will have someone on top of Ares owning you everything"
"Whoa whoa whoa miss" Jax says, tinged with fear and doing a "stop" motion with both his hands "I won't get involved to whatever crazy revenge scheme you have against guys capable of killing Damien Fraggin' Knight. "
"Never said that you will " Alina replied with a wink "Some things that you learn in a corp is to keep ypour private matters away from business. And i doubt you are the U.C.A.S. treasury to tell me what i do with my money. Yes my identity is an issue, but if i take a few precautions it won't be a problem " SHe shrugs " And if i bring heat on you,you can just sell me out on Ares.

"Sell you out ? We killed an Are's high ranked official and we are housing a top priority target of theirs !" Jax snaps at her.
"Hm, then you would say that either way Are's is gonna be tailing you, either on info on myself should it be revealed i am alive, or not for killing one of their own. Seems your only way out of this is if a higher up in Ares thought otherwise" Her smile gets wider as she speaks like that "If only there was a way to put a person that owes you one there...."
"I...you..what" Jax grabs his head in frustration "Frag...am i actually considering this ?"

You jusssst cover our living expensssesss and we will not take a sshare in the next missssion. And if you ssstil think we are lacking, we sshall take our leave"

"Well...." Jax sighs " Free run sounds enticing, but don't expect me to go easy on you. If you frag up you are out"
" We did not expect anything less from such a capable team leader as you" Alina finishes with a seemingly honest smile.
"Dont start with the flattery just yet, you'll need it fir later" Jax mutters as he ascends to the yacht's bridge "Ill notify Baxt of the change in course. This is a fragging bad idea.....".

The girl on your side relaxes on a couch, letting out a groan of relief "Well this seems to have been dealt with. Frag.....never expected to be an actual shadowrunner. God this will look terrible in the resume for CEO. " She absent mindedly pets your head "Thanks for the help Frazzles, I don't think I could have done it without you"

ALina's face immediately change to one of guilt mixed with worry. "Omygosh you poor thing ! " She exclaims as she wringgles out of your grasp "YOu have done so much, you must be starving !" She rushed to the small place of hte lounge dedicated to a small oven, a medium sized fridge and a gas stove. She quickly opens her fridge to see if there's anyhting edible for a carnivore ...

I think >>67526 means more the dissonance that comes from how Alina and we act. It's sort of like Annie and Tibbers from League of Legends. Here's a relatively non-harmful-looking girl who just casually has a massive hellbeast of death and destruction under her direction. And as she's walking to lane, Annie occasionally says, cheerfully, "hop, skip, jump!" like she's a completely normal child who certainly doesn't have an unstoppable fiery deathbear as a teddy.
>>
>>67622
I think running the shadows exposes you to strange things, so maybe a giant snake that's subservient to an 18yr old girl isn't as strange as we think it is.

Alina seems to have managed to find something that makes the tip of your tail inadvertedly wag (that happens for some reason when you are really excited. YOu have no idea what causes it, and it's pretty embarassing for you when someone points it out.): A big, meaty steak. A real one too, you can notice from it's scent !
Alina is not a coook, you are pretty sure she has probably ever cokked once or twice in her life, and one was to actually make something for you. It really messed up part of her room, and the brand new model of the PetitChef(TM) drone. But she tries to be more carefull now as she looks for some oil in a drawer.
Soo, the air smells of the delicious smell of roasted meat, making you your sensitive nose overload with sensations.
Alina does not bother with a plate, she just throws the steak once it was lightly cooked on your direction. Making a heroic leap, you catch the meat with your mouth, swallowing it whole with your next gulp. You take your time with that, savoring the sweet taste of cooked food. You are not really full, but given you are cold blooded that meal can hold you for a week.
You did not realize a certain nake elf was behind you.

Thread is in autosage, so i'm going to stop here story wise. THanks for playing ! However, there is one vote about the roll system. I have been using this one (d100) for a while, and to be honest it is not exactly enjoyable to me. Mostly because it is mostly chance based. I'd like to make it full SR, as the first thread's choices was actually a way to create your "sheet". It will be relatively rules light (most SR will be ignored), which i will explain below.

> 10 Attributes and a lot of skills.
>Physical attributes are Body (Toughness and Stamina), Agility ( Accuracy of movements and Dexterity), Reaction (Reflexes), and Strength (Self explaining)
>Mental attributes are Logic (Processing speed of information, rapid calculations, concetrantion) ,Intuition ( 5 senses, perceiving your surroundings, "gut feeling"), Willpower (Sanity, Mental force, Mental constitution), and Charisma (self explanationary again)
>Special attributes are Edge (Luck) and Magic (Magical power, you do nothing with it as an adept, you just gain more powers the bigger it is)
>SKills are a lot, but snek knows few so not much bookeeping
>Roll are a dice pool of d6 equal to Atrribute+SKill or Attribute+Attribute
>FOr example if you try to tail slap some fool it's Agility+Unarmed combat (I will always say what you roll)
>Every roll above 4 is a "hit", it's a success
>More hits=THe better
>Hits are either have a treshold of my choosing or opposed if you are up against something
>Character sheet is practically ready
>Will just have to look at the Csheet to see what to roll

So vote for

>Keep d100
>Switch to Rules light SR

Hey, just so that you can have a bit of feedback...

What I like:
The setting is nice, but it's not really you who's creating it, so nothing you can do about it.
How you ease us into the setting however is more noteworthy. I'm not really familiar with Shadowrun (though I should), but I managed to get into the story without having to stop every 10 sec to check for a specific word or saying.
Rolling. People may or may not like rolling, but seeing luck have a saying is always nice. Of course, what die you use is up to you.

What I DON'T like:
Spellcheck. Please. It's really bugging me to see how some basic mistakes are made because you didn't think to check it back.
The formatting you use is both monotonous and makes it hard to distinguish when people are talking and when there is a description. Use a hype, before a dialogue line to make your story more readable.
Greentext. Sorry, but I feel that keeping the greentext as-is when the character is asking questions really breaks the immersion. That also breaks the flow of the text itself, so I suggest you either integrate the question within a dialogue or that you describe the discussion while giving us a recap. See >>58027

Aside from that, I don't think I have anything to say, so good luck and keep writing!
>>
>>68744
Forgot to add:
I can't really judge for your writing prowess seeing as I'm not really experienced, but so far it's been rather enjoyable to read.
Also, I meant a hyphen.
>>
>>68744
I agree with most of that, although I don't know what you mean by
>Use a hyphen before a dialogue line to make your story more readable
It seems pretty readable to me - aside from the spelling and grammatical errors, of course - so I don't know where you're getting lost. Of course, I do most of my reading from books rather than 4chan quests, so I'm pretty used to large chunks of text.
Also, I disagree with your thing about greentext, assuming I've interpreted it properly; it's a good way to draw attention to the choices or prompt for Frazzles, similar to how a videogame might have a dialogue box that's differently-formatted to function as a selector, or how a CYOA book tends to bold the "If you want to check out the woods, turn to page 54. If the abandoned junkyard is more your style, turn to page 67" stuff.

>See >>58027
I think I see your point now. Still, it seems to only have happened once; for the most part, Frazzles asks our questions in his normal hissy voice.
>>
>>67884
>>69118>>68744

I'll be fully honest. Gotta agree with the listed complaints, even if I've been a bit desensitized over the years. Mostly from low quality smut

But yeah, it would be nice to run basic spell check and maybe work on formatting a bit.
>>
>>69185
In QM's defense I think he's posting from his phone a lot which definitely can contribute to confusing posts. But yeah sometimes spelling errors bring me out of it
>>
>>67884
Keep up the good work OP
really enjoying this just like to thank you for your hard work and amazing world building considering I knew nothing of SR before the first thread I feel really immersed aside from the couple of formatting and spelling glitches but it really doesn't detract very much in my opinion.
>>
>>70359
Honestly i feel like the spelling errors add to the new language and word changes lel
