Use when necessary.>Recap: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Whirlpool%20QuestThe encounter proved to be a tense situation but the mysterious individuals were put into custody thanks to the assistance of Aramid—head of the Law Enforcement District. After a brief interrogation, the tall woman revealed herself, and her group, to be personnel from the Management District. Another member of the group, Havelyn, was much more cooperative and warned you about three other individuals as well as the district head—"Petroleum". You had another makeover using your Repair Module, going back to your roots as you donned a revision of the Diving Suit attire. Now that your visor was back, you played around with your HUD's Bioscanner mode and detected an invisible infiltrator. With quick thinking, he was neutralized and Caffeine managed to disarm his inventory.(1/3)
>>433084You ask the masked infiltrator if he will die upon removing his mask. A slightly-rugged voice answers your question.>"No...you will."You reach for his gas mask, giving him ample leverage to throw you off. The other individuals, in a hasty decision, rush in to successfully dogpile him into submission. Before he can do anything, four people have already restrained him with their collective mass.Caffeine takes "a few seconds" to pile his items on the other side of the room then proceeds to help you up.(2/3)
>>433089>Aramid: BE THE LAW>"Gah! What is going on!?"The armored district head arrives to the scene just in time to witness the commotion. He examines the confiscated items on the nearby table and walks over to the restrained individual for interrogation.>"Are you with the Management District?">"I'm not telling you anything.">"Of course you are, no one else apart from your colleagues are bearing lethal armaments that is strictly forbidden. Your sudden interference is in no way a coincidence."He tells his subordinate to place handcuffs onto the captive, who futilely struggles and fails to break free from being held in place.>Toss him into the cells>Keep him around for further questioning>Punch him in the gut for bringing lethal items>Write in(3/3)

>>433123The mask individual is too dangerous to leave be, Aramid and his subordinate takes him to the nearby holding cells for further interrogation. He passes by his earlier colleagues, with the gunman giving him a brief wave. Nicotine claims that he's not going to say anything useful.>"I don't mean to be a drag, but I don't think this dropper's gonna spill the beans anytime soon.">>433167She tries her hand at asking a question of her own.>"You're a big guy, ain'tcha?"The captive remains silent, irritating her.>"Oh you're a real sourpuss, you know that? Let's get a good look at that ugly mug of yours then."She attempts to unmask him but he thrashes around, prompting the rest of you to restrain him. A second pair of handcuffs are placed around his ankles, restricting him enough to let him get unmasked.>>433184Nicotine turns to Aramid and asks if the cells are airtight, he confirms that it is.>"Alright, give me a few minutes. Is there anything specific you want me to ask him besides 'Who are you' and 'What are you doing here'?">"Nah, we're good">Write-in

You ask Nicotine if you can accompany her in-person, your attire is back to being a sealed environment after all. She's okay with it. Outside of the cell, Errai asks Aramid if the cells are soundproof as well. He tells her that there's a two-way communication device that allows for listening.>>433446You start off with some small talk, hoping to ease in while Nicotine does her thing. First question: Is he going to talk? There's no use hiding secrets anymore.>"I might as well, they call me Vector."You sarcastically congratulate him for getting caught, then ask about the next step in his master plan.>"Nothing, I'll just wait for things to come."Not exactly a helpful answer, you follow up by asking why he's so insistent with the mask.>"It's...because I know what Nicotine is capable of. Who doesn't? But now that I'm here I guess I'll just have to sit back and relax.">>433430Nicotine cuts straight to the point, trying her best to be menacing. She asks why is he trying to cause a disturbance, and insures that there will be consequences for being untruthful. Vector simply smirks.>"I was going to break Slalom out, but I guess that's no longer an option."She follows up by asking if he regrets his actions.>"What's the point? I'm already here. I'm not really worried , he'll just get someone to replace me. He or she might break me out if I'm lucky."He seems to be doing a pretty good job of playing off his feelings. Either way you're a bit fed up and you'd rather deal with more pressing matters. Nicotine tells you that she's going to stick around and try squeezing some more info out of him. You swiftly walk of out of the cell, mindful of what's going on in the air, and ponder on your next action.>Accompany Errai to regroup with the rest in the Transport District>Accompany Caffeine to meet up with Halon in the Consumer District>Resume discussion with Aramid about the situation>Go talk with the other prisoners>Watch Nicotine>Write inLast update for the night, I'm going to sleep. >>433938>>434024You decide to stay and spectate on how Nicotine's gonna deal with Vector. It seems she's resorted to more physical means of coercion, one that surprisingly doesn't involve hitting the guy until he gives up. You try to eavesdrop a bit, making out a faint statement...>"...either way you're gonna tell me what I want."Oh.Dang, she's a real femme-fatale. Rolled 5 (1d6)Pardon the delay, had to deal with IRL tasks>>435872>>436308You're entranced at the display, hopefully Nicotine wouldn't mind you peeping on her "unorthodox" interrogation. She's trying to pressure him with intensifying seduction. If it fails, at least she gets something out of this. You wonder if and when Vector will give in.Ugh, one of the most difficult things I've drawn, if only because it's blatantly my first attempt and I had hurdles figuring out how to portray it.
Forgot to mention that this message was going to be a 2-parter>>436766>"Alright! Alright! I'll talk I swear, geez. I -refuse- to be treated like this."You weren't expecting a hardened commando like Vector to be such a prude. Nicotine announces over the intercom that he's going to be earnest.>"I'll admit, I wasn't expecting him to chicken out so easily. Oh well, at least this goose is ready to get grilled. Anything you wanna milk outta him?"(2/2)Last post for the night. Sorry.

He is a special operative of sorts for tasks that require his unique brand of expertise. He explains that the original plan was to remain invisible and covertly break Slalom out when no one's looking, until you tackled him and he acted out of impulse. He could've gotten away with it had it not been for being completely disarmed out of nowhere.>>436998He reminds you that, to him, Slalom was his objective for the time being. He doesn't work for her, but she does play a role in the management. You tell him that the question is about how you ended up working here. He simply says that he was merely hired after long a job, that's it.>>437105Judging from how Aramid, Caffeine and Errai is standing right near you, that's probably not an option. Plus, Aramid doesn't seem to be that inclusive. You try to discreetly gesture to Nicotine with some clever winking. She winks back and mouths either the word "Later" or the phrase "Next time", it's hard to tell from a distance.>>438193>"Petroleum, an old coot who refuses to leave his office. He assumes he's just trying to live longer.
>>439518Alright, well...He's worked with two shady corporations at this point,Ask him if he wants to give being one of the good guys a shot. We could really use someone of his talents. We can convince havel to help too if we promise him the black separation crystal.
>>439527If he agrees, follow up with asking if betrayal is a common thing you do in your profession.
Agh, another dismal performance for the day. Good thing this thread won't die as soon as autosage hits>>439527The four of you ponder your options for a brief while before looking back at Vector. Aramid, through the intercom, offers him a chance at redemption by working on the right side of the law. Nicotine mentions the fact that she has a thick dildo in her cabinet and she's going to shove it up his ass everyday if he doesn't comply. The statement prompts weird looks from everyone. You're confident that she's just saying that to hide her magnum. Now that you think about it, are the others aware of that?Caffeine and Errai turn to ask Havelyn if he's willing to join them, promising that he'll have his crystal and a chance return home. He agrees, mentioning that he's upset at being crossed like this. Meanwhile the gunman simply sits there, flashing a middle finger at how he's not going to be picked up. You walk over to him and childishly return the gesture, he almost killed Errai after all. You're not letting him off the hook easily.>>439546To retain his sense of dignity, Vector agrees to the task to avoid daily assrapes. You ask him about the prospect of betrayal, it seems likely for paramilitary types like him. He assures you otherwise.>"No, it's quite the opposite actually. Where I come from, win or die trying, the objective is all that matters."And the last post for the night.
>>439865Noy you should head towards that fire and meet up with Halon.
>>439865Will Nicotine ever shove her "dildo" in our ass?
Pardon the quick and lazy updateAramid tells Nicotine to remove Vector's bindings and for Caffeine to open Havelyn's cell door, before having their equipment returned. Errai remarks how Havelyn's spear is surprisingly heavy.>>440049As Vector retrieves his items from a wary Caffeine, he warns you about his former colleagues.>"I'm sure there's more to your group than five people. You know, now that the others are mobilized, they're going to try messing with us the best they can."He does have a point, now that he mentioned that.>Continue going to Halon's location>Detour towards the Transport District>Split up, your half will regroup with the others in the Transportation District>Split up, your half will meet with Halon in the consumer district>Write in>>440077Maybe~

Judging from the handful of spectators nearby, that must be the location of the fire...which is the grocery store you visited yesterday. The fire seems to be under control though but you don't see any firemen nearby.Your teammates start asking the bystanders questions.

>>442411You walk up to the vendor from yesterday, who has just finished talking with Nicotine.>"Oh hey! I know you, you're from yesterday. Nice armor, by the way. Yeah, it's crazy you know? One minute I was just minding my business then something caught on fire in the grocery store. Luckily the fires were only contained inside and the firefighters got here quickly. I-I...should walk away now, this can't be good for my lungs."You interrupt him to ask about the firefighter's whereabouts.>"I don't know, I wasn't paying attention. He has a different interpretation.>"You think it was liquid fuel? That's weird but possible, although I don't remember liquid fuel being sold in grocery stores."
>>442564Well, this guy's probably legit.Time to check the ashes for clues or something. Maybe Havelyn is best suited for the job, he might have protection of some kind. Dude is weird, but effective.
Rolled 1, 1 = 2 (2d6)Excuse me, just secretly rolling for plot
>>442582>>442591You ask Aramid and Nicotine if they know anything about Halon's whereabouts or the other firefighters, they say they haven't seen them but according to the witnesses they already left after the flames are extinguished. You tell Havelyn to check out the charred ruins for anything important like clues. Vector volunteers to assist, claiming that he has experience in hazardous environments. To him, a burnt grocery store is a child's sandbox compared to where he's been. Minutes pass and the two return almost empty-handed. Vector assumes that the fire is probably caused by an accident. Maybe a broken appliance, faulty wiring or mishandling of supplies.
I suppose I'm out for the night. This might the only project I've ever had that I can conceivably finish.I hope to see you anons again in the morning.

>>443076You try to use your visor's Bioscanner function but there's also nothing showing up in the wreckage. You suspect that, for some reason, Halon and his firefighters have to leave immediately after settling the flames.>>443089You approach the pretentious broad for answers but her responses so far are very unhelpful. It's like she doesn't even care that there was ever a fire.Errai walks up to you, mentioning that the Fire Control District is split up much like Aramid's. There's probably a fire station nearby, what else could Halon be doing immediately after extinguishing a flame?
>>444242On to the fire station, then.Ask vector what management was paying him, it might be worthwhile knowing how much cash these lugs have to throw at their problems. Of course, they might have coerced him with something else, like with Havelyn.
>>444469You request Aramid if he can lead the group to the nearest fire station, and he agrees. On the way, you ask Vector if he's being paid for his role or if he's being forced to work. He claims that he's being paid not with cash but with the luxury.>"I usually spend most of my time cooped up like I'm some sort of prized cockfighter. It's not bad or anything, it's a bit...hollow. I only get sent down on missions that require my cloaking...speaking of which..."He looks away to tinker with his gadgets, good luck with him.--You arrive at one of the Fire Control Districts and...hear glass breaking very loudly, along with other noises.>Barge in>Enter discreetly>Stay outside
>>444635>Enter discreetlyUse bioscanner
>>444635Have the others barge in, while Us, Caffeine, and Vector go in from a different entrance more discretely. We're the most specialized to that role, after all - mobility, time-slow, and invisibility are perfect for that shit. Basically, if the main crew gets into trouble, the infiltrators can help out by flanking and subtly taking out the most dangerous enemies, or at least distracting them.
Rolled 3, 5 = 8 (2d6)Pardon the delay, OJT and all that>>444644>>444653Caffeine has yet to return right now, whatever is going on over at the Transport District, it's keeping her busy. You get the others to barge in while you and Vector flank the building from a different entry point. On your way to the next position, you hear a chime, probably Havelyn doing something archaic. You're not sure if it counts as irony, but the station does have its own fire exit. Your companion suggests that you enter through the window, since fire exits only open from the inside. You wait for the signal, the sound of the front door being slammed open, before bursting inside.(1/2)
>>445313>The bottom panel"What are we gonna do today, Whirlpool?""The same thing we do every day, Vector. Try to take over the world!"
>>445313You hear the sounds of doors being slammed open, your cue to flank the situation. Due to your inexperience you noisily open the window and stumble inside, eliciting a quiet sigh from Vector. You make your way through the room into the main hall and find that the situation is...pretty much under control. There seems to be a casualty riddled with crossbow bolts, surrounded by your other companions and some firemen, one of which is presumably Halon.Vector fades into view while you ask Errai what's going on. She says that upon entering the structure, Havelyn swiftly brandished his weapons and attacked someone.(2/2)Last update for the night. This seems like a pretty good day, apart from the gigantic delays due to IRL matters.
>>445443Realize how lucky we were to have subdued havelyn so quickly. Bitch could have rekt us in a heartbeat with reflexes like that.Uh, anyways, get someone to call for medical to report here ASAP. While waiting for them to show up, get info from local firemen on what happened here, and then try to determine who the downed person is/does from the items on their person.
>>445443Ask Havelyn how exactly it went down.
>>445457I guess there's a reason Petroleum wanted to keep him around.Regardless, you tell the others to call for medical attention, assuming Havelyn's barrage didn't kill her outright. One of the firemen says that he's already trying to administer first aid while another has a phone. You politely request for an account on what happened. Apparently, this woman and an accomplice were seen fleeing the scene immediately after arriving at the scene. They only caught her while the other got away. You approached the downed individual, who appears to be an office worker, and confiscate some kind of scoped pistol from her weak grip. She mumbles in response.>"I'm...still alive...dumbass..."Good to know she's still alive, her posture means that you can't frisk any more items from her without lifting her up.>>445956Havelyn says that upon opening the doors he saw the woman turning towards him with a weapon. Thinking fast, he decided to shoot first rather than have someone beside him get hurt.
>>447156>You guess there's...I did not mean to type in first-person on that statement. Welp.
>>447156Notice this person somewhat resembles Slalom
>>447156This scoped pistol...I wonder if we can [INTEGRATE] it?I'm not sure what the actual gun parts might do, but the scope could probably upgrade our vision capabilities. Give us some zoom, maybe assist our aiming with some reticules. To be honest, the scope itself is mostly what I want to integrate. Also, we ought to ask if anyone here is Halon.
>>447156Quickly interrogate the woman before she passes out, check the ammo on her pistol and pocket it for yourself, and take the woman's glasses for safety reasons.
>>447163The office lady does bear a small resemblance to Slalom, but that's largely from the fact that they both wear eyeglasses. Although she might be as tall as the accountant, if not taller, she's not broad especially in the chest. She's more slender, if anything.>>447170With a little creativity, you can! The ballistic mechanisms inside the gun might allow you to have some sort of integrated firearm somewhere on your suit, like your wrists, for example. However care must be taken lest you end up with an impractical feature like the inability to reload and/or having a unique caliber that can't be replenished.>>447174You eject the pistol's magazine after some fiddling before placing it and the firearm into your inventory. Vector crouches near her and administers some kind of medical spray over her wounds.>"Her name's Cassandra Davis, also known as 'Cassie-D'. She's the weapons supplier, which is weird since she's not supposed to be out here."She flinches from the medical application.>"Aagh! Why are your sprays...so shit? H-Hey! My glasses!"You take away her eyeglasses to neutralize her further.
>>447417Ask Vector who might the person that escaped be.
>>447417Might as well ask a few questions while we're here.>Where do you keep your weapon supplies? (So aramid can organize a raid)>What weapons are currently in the possession of others? (So we know what we might have to deal with)>Why are you here and why did you attack the fire department?>Who was your accomplice?>Why are you so flat, are you wearing a ballistics vest?
>>447436Vector says he doesn't know, but he suspects he/she is the one person Cassie seems to lovingly dote over in private.>>447170>Also, we ought to ask if anyone here is Halon. You tell the other firemen that you're looking for the district head, mentioning that you and the others came here for his help.>"That would be me."The battered fireman stands up, expressing disbelief at some kind of conspiracy beneath daily life.>"I caught her trying to sabotage our suits' Cryofield Emitters during the dispatch so I had to hold her off while the others dealt with the fire.">>447457You and several others loom over Cassie-D, Nicotine in particular stomps the heel of her right shoe dangerously close to her hand. You tell the office lady that you're going to need answers otherwise you're going to pluck those crossbow bolts off her individually. You ask her a series of inquiries, starting off with her weapon supplies.>"It's...all up in the Management District. We don't give it to anyone."Nicotine asks her to describe the other personnel of the Management District, specifically asking for their full names and their weapons. All of them.>"I can see you've...already befriended Vector and Havelyn."Vector bends down and immediately plucks a crossbow bolt from her wounds, causing her to shriek in pain.>"Ya—-argh! Okay, okay! Hayley Glendale is dressed like a cheerleader, she holds a pair of tonfas. Sergei Grigorii is a gunman, hired from eastern Europe. Hamilton Cooper is our expert in hazardous materials and retrieval, he wears a hazmat suit. Felix Englebart is an engineer, Stoddard's constantly furious at him for some reason. Slalom is our financial expert and supervises logistics. She was going to retrieve you, Havelyn, but I guess something happened to her."She takes a moment to catch her breath.>"Then there's that one guy, I can't remember much about him. Lastly, there's Susan, she like those angry soccer moms you find in PTA meetings."Errai requests that she divulge information relating to the attack on the Fire Control District.>"I don't normally go out on the field, but I'm supposed to stop any more District Heads from gathering or at least distract them"Aramid tells her that Slalom is imprisoned and demands to know if she's her accomplice or someone else. Cassie looks hesitant before momentarily expressing worry.>"If I tell you, will you promise to leave her alone? Or at least, be gentle with her.">Accept>Only in not hurting her>Refuse
>>447906Explain it as thus: As long as management personnel don't interfere with our current operations, we don't care for them. We won't be specifically seeking anyone out unless they prove to be a hindrance. For that matter, we've only really hurt the ones that have proven to be hostile or at least provided a definite threat at the time. Cooperation results in fairly nice treatment, and even freedom to do whatever, as in the case of Havelyn - we haven't even touched him beyond the initial tie-up, after all. So, as long as her accomplice doesn't try to hurt us, doesn't pose a threat, and doesn't interfere, she'll be left alone. If she doesn't hurt us and doesn't pose a threat, then we at least won't hurt her. We'll pretty much HAVE to hurt her if she poses a threat or hurts one of us, to ensure everyone's safety. After explaining that deal, mention that Cassie should consider working with us instead of Petroleum - we're the good guys, after all, and we only want the best for everyone. If petroleum has dirt on her, we'll help her liberate it from him, as some incentive.
>>447913Immediately after the first two sentences, Cassie-D glares at you hoping to get her point across.>"Don't you get it? Interfering -was- what we've been trying to do! Petroleum found it suspicious when the District Heads begun grouping together. He sent us all over to try and break it up before anything else happens. Honestly I don't think I'm cut out of the job but he sounded...pretty desperate."Errai agrees, pointing out how after encountering Havelyn, mayhem became notably more frequent that before. She also hypothesizes that the events were orchestrated to maintain the status quo, either that or avoiding any danger to Petroleum's position. The office lady sighs, realizing that it's futile to continue resisting.>"If you ever see a little hooded girl, that's Nikki. She's a bit of a scoundrel but that's only because of her upbringing. Please...take care of her."Almost on cue, two paramedics arrive through the doorway. They lift her up onto a stretcher outside, along with two more paramedics. Her egregiously-long ponytail is trailing behind her.Updates next thread, which won't be until tomorrow.
>>447951So anyways, how it do Halon? He looks kinda beat up. As long as there's not any pressing matters, we should explain what's up to him.
