Outfits Edition

You are Subject 108, a.k.a. Whirlpool. You are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies from a reclusive civilization that has mastered spatial distortion. You tend to suffer occasional lapses in memory, emotion and judgement from shifting hormonal imbalances due to a congenital anomaly. You have been sent to the feral planet known as Cymbio IV for a simple task: fetching water, but you are sidetracked by an adventure of your own making.

>Recap: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Whirlpool%20Quest

The encounter proved to be a tense situation but the mysterious individuals were put into custody thanks to the assistance of Aramid—head of the Law Enforcement District. After a brief interrogation, the tall woman revealed herself, and her group, to be personnel from the Management District. Another member of the group, Havelyn, was much more cooperative and warned you about three other individuals as well as the district head—"Petroleum". You had another makeover using your Repair Module, going back to your roots as you donned a revision of the Diving Suit attire. Now that your visor was back, you played around with your HUD's Bioscanner mode and detected an invisible infiltrator. With quick thinking, he was neutralized and Caffeine managed to disarm his inventory.

You ask the masked infiltrator if he will die upon removing his mask. A slightly-rugged voice answers your question.

>"No...you will."

You reach for his gas mask, giving him ample leverage to throw you off. The other individuals, in a hasty decision, rush in to successfully dogpile him into submission. Before he can do anything, four people have already restrained him with their collective mass.

Caffeine takes "a few seconds" to pile his items on the other side of the room then proceeds to help you up.

>Aramid: BE THE LAW

>"Gah! What is going on!?"

The armored district head arrives to the scene just in time to witness the commotion. He examines the confiscated items on the nearby table and walks over to the restrained individual for interrogation.

>"Are you with the Management District?"

>"I'm not telling you anything."

>"Of course you are, no one else apart from your colleagues are bearing lethal armaments that is strictly forbidden. Your sudden interference is in no way a coincidence."

He tells his subordinate to place handcuffs onto the captive, who futilely struggles and fails to break free from being held in place.

The mask individual is too dangerous to leave be, Aramid and his subordinate takes him to the nearby holding cells for further interrogation. He passes by his earlier colleagues, with the gunman giving him a brief wave. Nicotine claims that he's not going to say anything useful.

>"I don't mean to be a drag, but I don't think this dropper's gonna spill the beans anytime soon."

>>433167
She tries her hand at asking a question of her own.

>"You're a big guy, ain'tcha?"

The captive remains silent, irritating her.

>"Oh you're a real sourpuss, you know that? Let's get a good look at that ugly mug of yours then."

She attempts to unmask him but he thrashes around, prompting the rest of you to restrain him. A second pair of handcuffs are placed around his ankles, restricting him enough to let him get unmasked.

>>433184
Nicotine turns to Aramid and asks if the cells are airtight, he confirms that it is.

You ask Nicotine if you can accompany her in-person, your attire is back to being a sealed environment after all. She's okay with it. Outside of the cell, Errai asks Aramid if the cells are soundproof as well. He tells her that there's a two-way communication device that allows for listening.

>>433446
You start off with some small talk, hoping to ease in while Nicotine does her thing. First question: Is he going to talk? There's no use hiding secrets anymore.

>"I might as well, they call me Vector."

You sarcastically congratulate him for getting caught, then ask about the next step in his master plan.

>"Nothing, I'll just wait for things to come."

Not exactly a helpful answer, you follow up by asking why he's so insistent with the mask.

>"It's...because I know what Nicotine is capable of. Who doesn't? But now that I'm here I guess I'll just have to sit back and relax."

>>433430
Nicotine cuts straight to the point, trying her best to be menacing. She asks why is he trying to cause a disturbance, and insures that there will be consequences for being untruthful. Vector simply smirks.

>"I was going to break Slalom out, but I guess that's no longer an option."

She follows up by asking if he regrets his actions.

>"What's the point? I'm already here. I'm not really worried , he'll just get someone to replace me. He or she might break me out if I'm lucky."

He seems to be doing a pretty good job of playing off his feelings. You are about to ask him one more question when you suddenly hear Caffeine's voice from the intercom's speaker, she says that Halon can't make it as he has to deal with a serious fire accident in the Consumer's District.

Vector says that he used to work for a...long-defunct corporation and is currently under the employment of the Management District. He is a special operative of sorts for tasks that require his unique brand of expertise. He explains that the original plan was to remain invisible and covertly break Slalom out when no one's looking, until you tackled him and he acted out of impulse. He could've gotten away with it had it not been for being completely disarmed out of nowhere.

>>436998
He reminds you that, to him, Slalom was his objective for the time being. He doesn't work for her, but she does play a role in the management. You tell him that the question is about how you ended up working here. He simply says that he was merely hired after long a job, that's it.

>>437105
Judging from how Aramid, Caffeine and Errai is standing right near you, that's probably not an option. Plus, Aramid doesn't seem to be that inclusive. Agh, another dismal performance for the day. Good thing this thread won't die as soon as autosage hits

>>439527
The four of you ponder your options for a brief while before looking back at Vector. Aramid, through the intercom, offers him a chance at redemption by working on the right side of the law. Nicotine mentions the fact that she has a thick dildo in her cabinet and she's going to shove it up his ass everyday if he doesn't comply. The statement prompts weird looks from everyone. You're confident that she's just saying that to hide her magnum. Now that you think about it, are the others aware of that?

Caffeine and Errai turn to ask Havelyn if he's willing to join them, promising that he'll have his crystal and a chance return home. He agrees, mentioning that he's upset at being crossed like this. Meanwhile the gunman simply sits there, flashing a middle finger at how he's not going to be picked up. You walk over to him and childishly return the gesture, he almost killed Errai after all. You're not letting him off the hook easily.

>>439546
To retain his sense of dignity, Vector agrees to the task to avoid daily assrapes. You ask him about the prospect of betrayal, it seems likely for paramilitary types like him. He assures you otherwise.

>"No, it's quite the opposite actually. Where I come from, win or die trying, the objective is all that matters."

And the last post for the night.

There seems to be a casualty riddled with crossbow bolts, surrounded by your other companions and some firemen, one of which is presumably Halon.

Regardless, you tell the others to call for medical attention, assuming Havelyn's barrage didn't kill her outright. One of the firemen says that he's already trying to administer first aid while another has a phone. You politely request for an account on what happened. Apparently, this woman and an accomplice were seen fleeing the scene immediately after arriving at the scene. They only caught her while the other got away.

You approached the downed individual, who appears to be an office worker, and confiscate some kind of scoped pistol from her weak grip. She mumbles in response.

>"I'm...still alive...dumbass..."

Good to know she's still alive, her posture means that you can't frisk any more items from her without lifting her up.

>>447170
With a little creativity, you can! The ballistic mechanisms inside the gun might allow you to have some sort of integrated firearm somewhere on your suit, like your wrists, for example. However care must be taken lest you end up with an impractical feature like the inability to reload and/or having a unique caliber that can't be replenished.

>>447174
You eject the pistol's magazine after some fiddling before placing it and the firearm into your inventory. Vector crouches near her and administers some kind of medical spray over her wounds.

You ask her a series of inquiries, starting off with her weapon supplies.

>"It's...all up in the Management District. We don't give it to anyone."

Nicotine asks her to describe the other personnel of the Management District, specifically asking for their full names and their weapons. All of them.

>"I can see you've...already befriended Vector and Havelyn."

Vector bends down and immediately plucks a crossbow bolt from her wounds, causing her to shriek in pain.

>"Ya—-argh! Okay, okay! Hayley Glendale is dressed like a cheerleader, she holds a pair of tonfas. Sergei Grigorii is a gunman, hired from eastern Europe. Hamilton Cooper is our expert in hazardous materials and retrieval, he wears a hazmat suit. Felix Englebart is an engineer, Stoddard's constantly furious at him for some reason. Slalom is our financial expert and supervises logistics. She was going to retrieve you, Havelyn, but I guess something happened to her."

She takes a moment to catch her breath.

>"Then there's that one guy, I can't remember much about him. Lastly, there's Susan, she like those angry soccer moms you find in PTA meetings."

Errai requests that she divulge information relating to the attack on the Fire Control District.

>"I don't normally go out on the field, but I'm supposed to stop any more District Heads from gathering or at least distract them"

Aramid tells her that Slalom is imprisoned and demands to know if she's her accomplice or someone else. Cassie looks hesitant before momentarily expressing worry.

>"If I tell you, will you promise to leave her alone? Or at least, be gentle with her."

>Accept
>Only in not hurting her
>Refuse

Explain it as thus: As long as management personnel don't interfere with our current operations, we don't care for them. We won't be specifically seeking anyone out unless they prove to be a hindrance.
For that matter, we've only really hurt the ones that have proven to be hostile or at least provided a definite threat at the time. Cooperation results in fairly nice treatment, and even freedom to do whatever, as in the case of Havelyn - we haven't even touched him beyond the initial tie-up, after all.

So, as long as her accomplice doesn't try to hurt us, doesn't pose a threat, and doesn't interfere, she'll be left alone.
If she doesn't hurt us and doesn't pose a threat, then we at least won't hurt her.
We'll pretty much HAVE to hurt her if she poses a threat or hurts one of us, to ensure everyone's safety.

After explaining that deal, mention that Cassie should consider working with us instead of Petroleum - we're the good guys, after all, and we only want the best for everyone. If petroleum has dirt on her, we'll help her liberate it from him, as some incentive.

Immediately after the first two sentences, Cassie-D glares at you hoping to get her point across.

>"Don't you get it? Interfering -was- what we've been trying to do! Petroleum found it suspicious when the District Heads begun grouping together. He sent us all over to try and break it up before anything else happens. Honestly I don't think I'm cut out of the job but he sounded...pretty desperate."

Errai agrees, pointing out how after encountering Havelyn, mayhem became notably more frequent that before. She also hypothesizes that the events were orchestrated to maintain the status quo, either that or avoiding any danger to Petroleum's position. The office lady sighs, realizing that it's futile to continue resisting.

>"If you ever see a little hooded girl, that's Nikki. She's a bit of a scoundrel but that's only because of her upbringing. Please...take care of her."

Almost on cue, two paramedics arrive through the doorway. They lift her up onto a stretcher outside, along with two more paramedics. Her egregiously-long ponytail is trailing behind her.

So anyways, how it do Halon? He looks kinda beat up. As long as there's not any pressing matters, we should explain what's up to him.

Have a policeman escort Cassie-D to their destination, to make sure there is no further mischief

Speculate with the others on why Petroleum didn't want to have the district heads to gather together. Maybe because he doesn't want them organizing an uprising.
