“That was certainly something, my dear leader”. Parvaneh looks rather tired, as you all are, but the licks of azure flame that occasionally shoot from her blazing eyes are still full of passion. It is by now dark enough that you are having problems seeing further away from the area that is lit by torches and bonfires, which is fortunately quite wide even if you're outside Maner's walls, though the starlight still gives you a decent idea of your surroundings. “I have to congratulate you on your cold blood, I was afraid you would do something... Inappropriate when suddenly faced with a vampire”.

“Thanks”. You were about to, you have to admit, but it was more a matter of luck and not knowing what to do than a conscious choice, and you owe your survival to your fellows.

“In time your stamina will improve, though I certainly do not wish for today's events to become your practice”, she chuckles, orange flames flickering, “Though seeing how we're safe, dear leader, may I request to be dismissed? I have some matters that require me to be rested come tomorrow”.

“Please do, you've done plenty enough for me today”, you thank her again with a smile and see her off as she merrily trots inside.

“Can we go in too? Can we go in?”, Tama's excited rubbing comes closer and she almost passes you by, though fortunately she doesn't rush ahead. You would have no way of stopping her if she does, since you can neither hope to catch up with her nor actually stop something her size even if you could.

“Just a few moments more, there's someone we need to meet out here before you'll be allowed inside”, you explain. You're quite tired too and you wish for nothing but a nice bed and some decent rest, but you still have this situation to handle. Unfortunately, Tama doesn't look tired in the least, then again she's the one who slept the best amongst all of you last night.

“But there's people inside, that means cute boys!”, she insists, holding her cheeks as she stares at the front gates, skittering in place, “I can see them from here!”.

You do know there's someone watching you, you can spot them. Soldiers, most likely, though you have no idea whether they're cute boys or not. You just can't tell from this far and with such poor lighting.

“Yes, but you can't meet them right now. It's late, people sleep at this hour”, you patiently explain, “We'll get you introduced and then we will all take a good rest and tomorrow I will help you get acquainted with the humans, okay?”.

She nods eagerly, so eagerly that you suspect she'll agree to just about anything as long as it gives her what she wants. The problem is that, as far as you know, this monster with a young maiden's heart lived practically alone in the jungle for all of her years.

>”Why are you so interested in cute boys?”.
>”What do you want to do when we get in Maner?”.

"Why are you so interested in cute boys?", you seem to remember something about her being pretty young, so she's likely just realizing that all the outbreak of sexual desire she experienced during puberty, which must have been relatively recent to her, is going to have a chance to be satisfied and maybe she never had a chance to learn about something called "restraint".

Not that you can blame her, if you were stuck in a jungle with nobody you could have sex with for all your life...

"Because there are no cute boys where I live and there aren't around either. Trust me, I tried. The only boys that came at some point weren't cute and weren't friendly either and they were also kind of locked in an impenetrable fortress and didn't take it kindly to people scaling it", she answers, quite eagerly and showing just how excited she is, especially when she looks at you, "I am so happy you brought me there! Finally I can fulfill my dreams!".

"That is very nice to know", you smile reassuringly, "But like I said, all the cute boys will be sleeping and... Chances are they have never seen someone like you, so they might be a little... Afraid at first?". You try to weigh your words carefully, you don't want to have someone this excited blow up, and you don't want her to be even more frustrated either. Ishtar sure didn't prepare you to deal with all the minutiae of cross-species breeding, especially the "make everyone get along" part.

Then again not even the most faithful followers of Iria seem to have a recipe for getting this part right, and the creator goddess' explicit wish is for everyone to get along and love each other. No surprise it's a divine call almost nobody receives, it has to be amongst the hardest, most frustrating endeavours one can dedicate his life to.

"Okay okay", she answers, skittering in place still. You don't even know if Cassilda is awake or not, so they might have to go and wake her and let her get dressed or something, and you have to keep Tama busy in the meantime before she decides to rush ahead on her own. You really don't think the soldiers will try and kill her, especially if you're with her, but you still don't want to give anyone the wrong idea.

"What do you want to do when we get in Maner?", you then ask.

"Build a new nest there!", she claps her hands, "So I can invite some cute boys to get there. And prepare everything I need. Maybe I can finally have some kids too!".

She did mention knowing someone and taking care of their children, and while repopulation of the arachne is one of the tasks you took up, it's kind of surprising to see how upfront and nonchalant she is about it.

>”I don't think you can build a normal nest inside of Maner”.

>>
"Do you have any trade skills or something?", you ask out of curiosity.

"What's a trade skill?", her answer leaves you quite unsatisfied, but you should have expected this from someone who literally grew up in the jungle.

"Something you can do. A work", you try to describe it with gestures but you're not sure what she would understand either, and you're not the most well-educated person either so you're a little lacking on the academics part of defining words.

She seems to think about it for a moment, "Mh, well, I can weave silk. My silk. But I can do stuff. I can make clothes, I made plenty of baby clothes lately", she looks proud of it for a moment, then she looks down on her shirt, "I've made mine too. I should fix it but I was busier with baby clothes. I can dye them too so no problem".

You're pretty sure you need tools of some sort, or at least a facility, to dye cloth, let alone silk. You haven't seen any of that in her possession, unless it was in her cobweb abode, in which case... Well damn she does make a lot of silk. Not that it's really that surprising considering her sheer size; despite being the smallest arachne you've seen until now she's still at a size level that would put a horse to shame.

"That's good! And very useful", you smile, "The people of Maner will appreciate you a lot for that".

"Really?", she claps her hands and rubs her pedipalps and for a moment it looks like she wants to just rush inside, but fortunately she doesn't.

"Don't you want to meet your old friends, too?", you then ask her, "Now that you're here I can ask Arianna and Leiana to come here too, wouldn't that make you happy?".

"You really could do that?", she sounds... Not as surprised as you expected. She also doesn't appear to be as interested as you might have expected, "Is Maner this good of a place?".

"Well it's a bit messy but it's very welcoming", you chuckle, "And I'm here to make sure you can become part of it without any problems. Same goes for your old friends".

"I barely remember their faces", she admits, getting lost in thought for a few moments, "I don't even think I would be able to recognize them. What were they, a tarantula and... Uh... A... Grey something?".

You're not completely sure yourself, so you just shrug, "I don't know but you'll meet them soon enough".

She stares at you for a few moments, and you notice she's just fidgeting, as if she's nervous. “You know I haven't met anyone of my kind since my family left me. I don't know anything. How do we greet each other? I forgot”.

“I don't think you have a special greeting”, you don't remember seeing Leiana and Arianna exchange any, at least.

>”No need to worry about that, I'm sure they still love you”.

I'll be greedyanon today!
I hope she has more restraint than the harpies and mermaids at least, otherwise this might be difficult.
>>
"No need to worry about that, I'm sure they still love you", you pat her pedipalp because her head is out of reach. You hope this isn't some kind of taboo for arachne, but if it is there's a chance she'll let you off the hook because she doesn't know herself.

"Thanks", she rubs the pedipalp against your hand a little. The fur there is very short and a bit rough, but still fluffy enough to hug it, assuming one is into hugging giant spiders.

"Speaking of which, do you know Isthar?", you ask, suddenly curious.

"Oh, yes, our goddess Ishtar", she answers, "Linne and Regor have an idol of her, they say they asked for her blessing and that's how they got five children. They look really happy", she claps her hands, "I want to ask for her blessing too, I want to have many children too".

"Why are you so eager to have them?", you continue.

"Because I'm old enough", she blinks, as if she doesn't quite understand the question, or why you would even make it, "Why wouldn't you want children?".

"Well I... I don't know", you shrug, "Maybe it's not convenient at the moment?".

The question falls completely flat. It seems like Tama has no idea what you might be talking about, which leads you to a quick change of topic, to make things less awkward.

"Do you know magic?", you sprout.

"Magic? No", she shakes her head, "Magic is strange and sometimes bad, but only very very very very few people can use it". At least she has her facts straight where they count.

"Where did you learn how to fight then? You're really strong", you have to admit you've never seen someone behead someone else with a knife hand chop. Hopefully you won't have to witness that scene again in the future.

"Oh. My parents started to teach me something at first, but then they went away and so it fell on Regor and Linne to teach me the rest", she explains, "And then I practiced a lot, because the jungle is full of bad guys".

"Yeah no kidding", Bryld mutters.

It's at that point that Cassilda arrives, escorted by Julio and Carrera, with which she's exchanging some words and laughing about jokes you can't hear, mostly with Julio. When they come closer she approaches Tama, who peers curiously at the three-tailed human with strikingly blond hair as she peers up at the much larger arachne.

“This your new recruit?”, she asks you as she pats her spidery legs, “Impressive. She looks a bit young, though”.

“I'm seventeen”, Tama explains, “I'm an adult”.

“Of course you are”, Cassilda pats her again. Seventeen is old enough indeed, especially when she doesn't have a society or the expectations thereof around her, “I must say I didn't expect you to make it back in one piece. I hoped you would, of course, but this is a pleasant surprise”.

>”Gee, thanks”.

Let's get this out of the way.
>>
"How did you know she was young? I mean, particularly young", because there's no way Tama would look anywhere near any definition of "old".

Cassilda makes that smug, know-it-all grin of hers and goes "When you reach a certain age, you start to instinctively feel who still has the candor of youth around her, and this girl has plenty of it".

Tama smiles but she likely has no idea what she's even saying.

"Regardless", you continue, "Where's the monster brigade headquarters? I need to set our camp up".

"Uh, yeah, right, about that...", Cassilda looks around for a moment, "How about you set it... Not right here in front of the gate but just, like...", she motions somewhere to either side, "Somewhere about? That'll be fantastic".

"You want us to set up camp outside of the walls?", Bryld asks, just to be sure she got it right.

"Well I would find somewhere else but we were supposed to expand to the South and you've seen how messy it is with the massive amount of civilians we were totally unprepared to deal with". You've been there, and Cassilda's way of putting it is, in fact, quite accurate, "The rest of the camp is walled off already, and I don't think there's enough room for your friend there with the rest".

A quick glance at Tama reveals that no, there is no way she can fit amongst the civilians, simply due to a matter of physical space. Even Parvaneh had to stay where nobody else would dare set a tent up, and the other centaur lived in the outskirts as well from what you gather.

"Besides", Cassilda continues, "It's high time we expand our camp and our resident dwarf keeps demanding materials for building. We'll do a second line of hopefully much more organized tents and structures and build another, outer wall over that", she traces the ideal locations of said places with her finger on the landscape, "Might as well start from you".

That seems to reassure Bryld somewhat, and it does kind of make sense all considered.

"Are you sure there won't be any problems?", you ask, without looking at Tama.

"That's your job", she smiles brightly.

But there's another thing you have to get out of the way, "Do you have any single, arachnophile cute boy looking for a healthy, eager and cute spidergirlfriend?".

Cassilda keeps her bright smile on, puts both hands on your shoulders, squeezes, and then says:

"That is your job".

>”Come on, you know I can't do this on my own”.
>”Fine, but I'll have you know that I am not on to stop love from blooming”.
>”Are there any priests in the camp?”.
>”Are there any priests of Isthar in the camp?”.
>”Don't worry, I can handle this”.
>”Very well, we'll set up camp right here right outside”.
>”Can't we bring her in even just for one night? We can't set up camp now, it's too late”.

Let's Ishtar her!
>>
"Don't worry, I can handle this", you claim as you spy Tama head for the wooden palisade and look up at some of the soldiers peeking out to check the perimeter.

"Hi", she tells someone as her massive spider body effortlessly climbs up to the point she can just peek over herself, "You look cute".

"Well that's a problem", Cassilda dryly comments.

"I'm sorry I'll go get her off immediately", you say as you instantly reach Tama to try and pull her down... Somehow.

"No I mean", you barely hear Cassilda comment behind you, "If we're ever invaded by giant spiders that's a problem. Walls are useless. We need something better".

But you don't have time for that, you have to make sure Tama doesn't do anything that she might regret later. Not to mention completely ruin your attempts at peaceful co-existence.

"Tama", you call, even though she's not that far, "Tama come down you can't climb over the walls". Admittedly, the very concept of walls should be quite alien to her considering where she's been in the savage wilderness all her life, and the expectation that someone will not climb them over for no reason might not be within her.

"Eh? Why?", is her answer, but she's quickly distracted by the soldier again, whom you can't really see from your position. At least they don't seem to be freaking out.

"Er, well, thank you", he says. You don't even know if he's cute, or a boy. But you trust Tama can tell this much, although tere are, admittedly, plenty of people that could get anyone confused, especially under some armour or a loose enough tabard.

But that's a problem for later.

"Hey there!", Tahenohan comes running, waving her dirty hands, "I'm done burying!". You kind of wish she didn't say that out loud, but being a half-elf you can count on the fact that nobody will think too hard about what she says.

"Well since you're doing okay", Cassilda smiles, "I'll see you tomorrow. I want a report on what happened in your first mission. And we can discuss other... Things".

She waves and goes back inside, followed by Carrera, who stops for a moment, "Don't worry, it's safe even outside the walls. At least it is this close to them".

That was supposed to be reassuring. Admittedly, it's not your own personal safety that's concerning you right now.

“What do you humans do here in human homes and why are they so close to each other?”, you hear Tama eagerly asing with the curiosity of a child who has been exposed to civilization for the first time in her life. Fortunately for everyone the royal army of Rune has been trained to deal with things like this one.

Well not really, but the Cult of Gaia also handles worship of Iria, and you seem to recall them having a role in military training. Hopefully it helps them recognize friendly people.

You cannot let Tama stay alone and unguarded, she's like an energetic child who also happens to be over three hundred kilos of spider and savage power who has likely never met a man before and also happens to be sexually mature. Despite your body begging you to just go to sleep you have to stay awake long enough to ensure nothing stupid happens.

"What do you do?", Tama asks with a loving tone despite her somewhat strange voice.

"I'm out guarding".

"Guarding what?".

"Well, the town".

"From what?".

"From the possible dangers that lie outside".

"But they're far".

"Well they got very close a couple times so we can never be sure".

"You know I live close to those dangers, you should hole up a little better, set some traps", Tama explains with a loving smile, her finger idly drawing circles on the palisade, "So you have time to do things other than just guard".

All considered, the conversation just seems to be normal. The guards of course need to keep their patrol up and switch from time to time, but they quickly adapt to the idea of having a monster just hanging there, showing them how absolutely feeble their first line of defence can be and just trying to chat everyone up.

She seems eager to talk to anyone, just anyone, but of course she has a special tone in her voice when she talks with men.

You shudder and jolt off the wall as you feel a sudden plunge in your heart. You look around with a hint of panic but quickly realize you had just fallen asleep in the worst way possible. The one that makes you feel like you were literally falling somewhere.

You rub your eyes. You don't have the strength to go fetch your things in your tent, and neither you have them to set something up. You turn to Bryld and Tahenohan, unsure on whether to ask them the favour or not, but you realize they just laid out their bedrolls and are sleeping on them without a single care in the world.

Tama has the endurance to keep talking to people until dawn comes. Fortunately, the soldiers see this as a chance to pass the time while they do their very boring duty and don't seem too concerned, although you suspect most of them do their best to not peek over the palisade to see Tama's lower body.

“Really? You did that? No way!”, you hear Tama chuckling.

“I swear! And my wife was staring at me with this face and she went “That's not my child! Whose child did you kidnap?” and then I heard someone screaming next door”.

You lost track of how many hapless people she caught up in her incessant chatter, but at least she hasn't moved from where she is, and seems content with that.

You feel your eyes closing on their own.

It's amazing how such a large and heavy body can stay perfectly still in the midst of climbing over a palisade, but the flickering light that illuminate it and the constant chatter only make you sleepier.

"Tama it's late", you tiredly explain. Wow, your voice came out rougher and more exhausted than you expected. It's groggy and you feel groggy too and you might just collapse if you're not careful in getting off the palisade you've leaned on for quite a while now, "We should go to sleep".

"Oh but I'm not tired!", she complains, briefly looking down at you, "And I'm having so much fun!".

"Tama you have all tomorrow and every tomorrow after that to have fun and these people need to work", you insist, stifling a yawn and almost failing, "Go to sleep".

"Yes please, we'll keep watch over you, don't worry", the soldier helpfully adds in. You think it's a woman, but you couldn't hear the voice very well; though if you were to guess, you'd say it was a woman simply because Tama doesn't protest as much as you expected.

If having kids is anything like this you can't fathom how Tama can be so eager to have them considering she's younger than you are and hers are going to be giant spider children. On one side that would be quite some sight, on the other it would be rather scary, especially for those around her.

Although you have to admit, she has been behaving quite well considering your expectations and her own situation, you know people who would have just jumped on someone in her place. That's some amazing self-control. Or maybe she's civil enough to also want to feel emotional attachment and comfort.

You hope it's more of the latter.

She bids goodbye to the last "volunteer" of the night and regretfully climbs down, though you can clearly see how she wanted to stay there until dawn, and maybe more.

You pat her on the pedipalp, "You're a good girl, I'm sure everyone likes you, just get some sleep and tomorrow you'll do great, how about that?".

In response, she picks you up and hugs you tightly. It's a bit of a surprise, especially because she literally picks you off your feet as her humanoid body is higher up than yours is, and your hips and legs are held in place by her pedipalps which also squeeze you until you start wondering if she ever feels like putting you back down.

And the answer is yes, she does.

“I want to share this with my old friends too”, she then says, “Even if I don't even remember their faces”.

“I will make sure you will”, you promise.

“They're the only ones I can share things with, you know? That would understand. Because we're of the same race, you know?”.

“Yes, I understand that feeling”, you lie. Nobody ever introduced a cambion to you. And that's not surprising, your kind is very rare and in order to make one you have to mate with someone who doesn't belong to this world and can only be summoned, and from the only specimen you've met you guess this isn't always an easy or pleasant task.

Still, you're reminded that you're even more alone than the girl who only has literally two friends of her own race in the whole continent. Maybe.

Fortunately you're too sleepy to think about it much.

>Continue
>>
"They're coming!", you hear from behind you. You can't spy anything from the darkness, only grass too tall to see through that covers your whole vision. You're stuck on the ground and cannot move. You're too weak, you can't feel your legs and can't lift your arms either; you can barely move your head and your sight is blurry nonetheless.

They're coming from you, they want you and just you and will stop at nothing until they get what they want.

You hear them long before you can see them. Ravenous and insane, and when they jump out of the grass it's already too late for you.

The sunlight blurs your vision more than your dream did. You are short on breath and you feel your heart pounding within your chest, racing with a panic that subsides too slowly for your liking.

Bryld is still sleeping sounding right next to you, and your sudden sit-up toppled Tahenohan, who was sleeping on top of you. She grumbles in her sleep and then falls silent, apparently unfazed from the disturbance. Close to you, you spy Tama's massive body, her legs close to her spider part in a position you've seen the arachne sleep in already; it must be instinctive to them.

You're drenched in sweat and you're long overdue a good bath, your clothes cannot take much more before becoming so stinky that you're going to have trouble putting them on and not hating yourself. It's also a tad too early to actually get up: the sun is up, yes, but now that your eyes have adapted to the presence of light you realize it's still early in the morning. It's just that here, in the Shadow Marches, it's bright from very early on.

You feel the wear and tiredness set in again and your body, once it has calmed down, actually starts to feel like it wouldn't mind sleeping in some more. However, the recent memory of your silly nightmare still haunts you and makes you feel ill at ease.

Were the vampires really out for your blood? It seems like they only attacked you after all.

You rub your eyes. You're safe here, even if you're outside the town walls you're being watched constantly by guards. And besides, there's no way they'd get this close to a place where they would get their asses kicked in short order, would it?

The more you think about it, the more you are certain that you are just reasoning upon paranoia, fear and the lingering feeling of unease from a nightmare, which is not what you would define as the best counsel sleep can give.

But for now you are awake, whether you like it or not, and this gives you some options.

Running, sweating and having nightmares all contributed in making you too thirsty to stand it for much longer. You decide to get up to go and get something to drink, for your throat is so parched you think you'd have problems speaking up if you had to.

You drink a bit from your canteen, but since you can get some fresh water you go and do so. The front gate is not unguarded but you're by now a known face and nobody even tries to stop you; someone even sends a nod your way, and you wave back, though you have no idea who these people are. The fact they have uniforms makes it all more difficult to remember their faces; good thing humans are varied and have many different animal features due to the blessing of Gaia, but even then that's not enough for those who aren't even acquaintances.

Although you being the leader of the monster brigade is still not official, nor is the monster brigade itself you suspect, you believe you have enough rights to be in the military encampment, especially since you came invited. You can't say you're at ease with soldiers, them being a kind of professional you've never had much experience with, but aside from having clothes of similar colours they look like okay people. Men and women working together in an organized fashion, either relaxing or maintaining their equipment, and some are working or training for battle.

The walk calms your nerves and makes you feel safer and more at ease, there's no vampires in Maner and nobody is out to get you. You pass more than one tent that has supplies but they're either food or other equipment which the quartermaster will not allow you to even touch, at least judging from the look she gave you.

But you do find a place where there's people filling canteens and other containers from clay jars full of water. "May I get some?", you ask as you approach, and your voice isn't too rough just because you still had some left in yours to drink earlier.

"Sure", a helpful man in his forties gives you a smile and extends his hand. You pass him the canteen and he does the operation himself before handing it back to you, "Say you're the one who brought the spider lady, are ya?".

Great. She's famous already.

"Yes", you see no point in denying it, and a few other faces from the small group light up.

"I remember you", a woman of undefinable age with short black hair states, "You were convincing her to go to sleep last night. My shift had just started, that's something I wasn't expecting to see".

"Good thing she listened to me then", you smile.

"Oh I wouldn't have minded the company, gets boring sometimes when you're out there", a bit of vocalized agreement arises, “But better boring than dangerous”.

>”What do you think of Tama?”.
>”Ever had problems with vampires?”.
>”Know anything of a monster brigade?”.
>”Are there monsters in Maner?”.
>”Do you know any single arachnophiliac cute boys...”.
>Other?

Aand for when she looks at us with that "the fuck are you on about" look:

"Hey do you know of any single arachnophiliac cute boys who might be interested in a healthy, cute spidergirlfriend?", you ask, and receive some good laughs as answer. How cute, they think you're joking.

"Single? Yes", a man says, "Cute? Maybe. Arachnophiliac? I guess there might be. All three combined AND interested in getting a spidergirlfriend? I don't know".

This sentiment seems to be quite shared amongst the group. They must be helping the quartermaster organize the water supplies, especially because in a short while a couple hundred soldiers will be preparing breakfast and they might need plenty of that. And considering the heat and the weather, they might just need plenty of water in general.

"What", you smile, "She can't be the only monster in Maner, this can't be too new to you".

"Well I wouldn't go about using that word, 'monster'", a young soldier, that has to be around Tama's age, warns as she brings a couple large buckets of water, likely freshly drawn from a well, "There are some non-humans, yes".

"Goblins, centaurs, a dwarf which I'm sure you heard about already", someone else chuckles, oh you heard her alright even if you didn't do much else with her. You might be hearing her soon enough too, now that you're back in town, "Then there's that minotaur and we have a harpy with us".

"A harpy?", you arch an eyebrow.

"A messenger harpy", another soldier specifies, "Amazing she can remember what we tell her to do but I'm not complaining".

"But nothing else?", you ask, "No other arachne? Nothing... Stranger?".

The soldiers look at each other for a bit and just shrug. Seems like this is it. The girl glances at your horns and tails and looks like she's about to say something, but ultimately doesn't.

You then suddenly feel some kind of tinge. It's not a new feeling. You turn around and spot a tall woman with blonde hair, straight long enough to reach her waist. Her eyes are dark, of a colour you can hardly tell, and she carries the almost nauseating and pungent smell of fresh bloodshed.

It's only once you realize that her tabard is clean and she's wearing hardly anything else, like many other off-duty soldiers struggling with the heat, that the smell disappears abruptly, as if you just imagined it. But you didn't. It was a divine presence, you're sure of it.

"Are you new?", she asks while she fills a canteen without looking and picks up a bucket of water, staring at you. Her tone is deep but still vaguely feminine, though not markedly so. Her body looks muscular and sculpted but not in an excessively obvious way, and despite her apparently drowsy look you feel her gaze is actually very sharp and attentive.

From the moment she came in everyone else stopped talking.

>”Yes”.
>”No”.
>”I'm not a soldier”.
>”I'm the leader of the monster brigade”.
>”Who are you?”.
>Other?

Is she a priestess?

That would be fun, we haven't run into many religious guys and gals so far.

"Who are you?", you ask, faced with a woman that you've never seen before. Or maybe you did, but she never tried to interact with you.

She does not answer, and instead stares at you, checking you out and looking somewhat between the puzzled and the dissatisfied in an otherwise expressionless face, "I'm a soldier, and you clearly aren't. Are you a camp aide? I've never seen you around".

"No-".

"Are you someone's relative?".

"No", and you see that she has run out of guesses and just went back to silent staring, so you decide to fix the situation yourself, "I'm just new".

"Well this is a military camp, don't come here for water if you don't have to", she states matter-of-factly as she turns around with the bucket of water and just walks away, idly scratching the back of her neck.

After she has put some distance between you and her, the girl soldier lets out a long sigh, "Iria knows I don't know what to do when she's around".

"Relax", the middle aged man smiles, "Even if you worry your little head about it won't change anything".

"She won't even understand what's wrong with you", someone else says.

"Who was she?", you then ask, since she didn't bother answering.

"She? Oh, name's Amanthis. That's... All we know about her", the quartermaster answers.

"And that she's on our side", the other soldier adds, "Believe me, I fought with her, thank Gaia she is on our side".

"What's wrong with her?", you ask because you felt something off. A divine presence, you're sure, but she didn't look like a priestess.

"Ever met someone that is so strong that even if she's on your side you fear for your life?", the man claiming to have fought with her asks you, somewhat vehemently, "She may look like nothing, all bored and barely functional as she is when we're camping, but the moment we're marching or there's enemies on the field? She turns into a monster. A real monster, not like those we have here".

"Non-humans", the girl corrects him, but he doesn't listen.

"She has this huge-ass axe and she cleaves people with it like they're made of butter, she's just a whirlwind of death and blood, and she has this look like she was born to do that and enjoy it".

"I heard someone say she's rather bathe in the blood she spills than get a good fuck", the black-haired woman says, cracking half a smile, "That's just a rumour though, I don't know if anyone actually tried to fuck her".

"I heard she's a chosen of the god of war", the quartermaster says, "But she's on our side and that's enough gossip on our own fellows. Remember we have to stay united at all costs out here in the Shadow Marches, we have no reinforcements, no towns to resupply but this one. We're here on our own and we're in this together”.

The rest mumble in agreement and nod, getting back to their work.

At least you got your water, but you feel a little less thirsty, like you can still feel that vague scent of fresh blood in the air.

And this is it for Episode 69!

Sorry about the low number of posts, we started on a roll though, that's good.

I'll see if I can do an evening episode tomorrow but don't hold your breath. What's important is that now you have the aftermath of Tama's rescue mission to deal with, and that might require a bit of bureaucracy and a lot of organization.

Still, stay tuned on twitter to be up to date on when I'll run next, and take care!

There's just so much time I have to run the quest and Lillith was way too tired for any sex to be happening.

>too tired for sex
Normally I'd say no such thing, but for once I could actually believe that. Guess things just didn't end up aligning that way!
