Your name is Oliver Penelope. The year is 1367, and dragons are besieging the land. But that is not your worry, at least not yet. For you do not have any knowledge to make you worthy to fight the dragons, but that is what our journey is here to change.
A few days after your 16th birthday, an oracle came traveling through town. They said it was your destiny to be
>A mage (master of the traditional elements)
>A sorcerer (master of the spirits and summoner of demons)
>An enchanter (master of enchantments [imbued magic in objects])
>A wizard (Master of prepared rituals [think runes, potions, and such])
This is my first quest. Sorry if it is a little rough at the beginning. Also my pc's HD went full on bonk so running qst from phone. Also I suck at art, and even worse at art on phone. Thus if some artfag wants to donate art, please send it to @OP_QST on twitter.

Back story the post.
You grew up in a quint trading village. As one of the human villages closest to the Elven Forest, not much other than traders came to the town. Occasionally an envoy of elves would come out to trade with the traveling merchants, and from what you were told, the whole reason the town was there was because of the trade with the elves, something about having a place for the traders to rest and get fresh food. Other than that, your town has a small farm, and a couple of the townsfolk raise cattle. There is a small forrested area nearby that the elves don't claim, so some controlled logging Is done near the edge, and some wild game lives in the center. Other than the small log and mud houses and shops of the town, there is not much else save for some corrals for the livestock.

Yea! Someone posted. I had about given up.
____
So the oracle said you were destined to be a sorcerer.

It was quite an event for the oracle to show up. Enough of an event that a small carnival was set up. Not that extravagant, but various stalls selling wares, and a couple of performers who had followed the oracle. One of the performers said something about following the oracle from a large port city. You can't read, but you remember that the town manor has a fairly detailed but old map.

Do you:
>Browse the stalls
>watch a performer
>go to town manor
>write in
>>
>watch a performer
>>
>>440905
You watch a pair of individuals juggle torches for a bit. Their acrobatic skills allow them to do cartwheels and walk a slack line while still juggling.
>Browse the stalls
>watch a different performer
>continue watching same preformer
>go to town manor
>write in
>>
>go to town manor
posting on the off chance op comes back

I'm still here for now. Posting here is slow enough that I'm checking infrequently.
______

You walk to the town manor. It is a 2 story house where the town magistrate lives and holds his office as well as the postal facilities and jail, as well as a small library.
Do you:
>go to the library (where the map is)
>go pester the magistrate
>go to the postal facilities
>write in
>>
>go into the library

I'm checking pretty infrequently as well
>>
>>442116
You've never had a reason to visit the library before, as you were never taught to read. It looks quite impressive to you. The room is lined with shelves except for one wall that houses a fireplace. As it's near the hottest part of the year, it is unlit. There are a couple chairs for people to sit in while they read. Above the fireplace is the map. You spy it as soon as you enter the library. (see pic). On the floor is a rug. It seems that someone marked the town with a dot and an arrow. You can only make out one other populous, and from what you overheard from the performers, you bet that is where they came from.

A official looking person comes in and hushes you. Evidently you were being to loud. They stay hovering around and keep glancing at you.

Do you:
>ask official looking person something (white in what)
>continue looking around the library
>Go back into the hall
>write in

Well I'm calling it for the night. Be back in 12 hours.
>>
Well, its been an hour and 3/4 longer than when I said ill be back, and no choice made for the last prompt. I guess that means my single player absconded. Tisa shame. I had things planned.

In the chance that this post brings someone, I'll still watch the thread.
>>
>ask official looking person if there are any copys of the map above the fire place
>>
>>443710
>copies
>>
>>443710
You walk up to the official looking person.
Erm, excuse me. Are there any copies of the map?
Huh, sorry, only the one map around these parts. One of the larger towns might have a copy they could lend out, or perhaps one of the traders could fetch a copy, but their next visit won't be for another couple weeks.
If you are finished here sir, the magistrate would like a word with you.

Do you:
>inform official person that you are finished here
>continue looking around the library
>Other
>>
>>443932
Sorry about these sporadic replies man. I've been kinda sick the past few days.

>Other, I want to ask the official if they have parchment and something to write with so I may copy the map.

I support the other anons choice

It's fine. It allows me to do other things...
______
They gesture over to a small desk in a corner of the room that you hadn't noticed yet.

You walk to the desk and begin to roughly copy the map. You have a crude black and white copy of the map now.

What do you do?
>inform official person that you are finished here
>continue looking around the library
>Other
>>
>>444824
Yea! A second person!!!
>>
Inform the official your done go back into town buy a weapon chop some wood sell some wood....profit
>>
>>444913
You inform the official looking person that you are finished. They lead you to the office of the town magistrate. It is upstairs. For a building made our of logs and earth, the staircase is quite grand. You imagine that it wouldn't look out of place in a fancy house in a big city, but you've never been to anywhere outside of a day's walk from this town.

The official looking person knocks on a door. From beyond the door, you hear someone say "Yes?"
The official looking person replies"Sir, I've brought the individual the oracle spoke to."
The voice beyond the door says "Send them in.".

You walk into the room.
The official looking person closes the door behind you remaining outside.

What do you say?
>Erm, Hello.
>stand awkwardly not saying anything
>write in
>>
>write in: I introduce myself and then stand quietly awkwardly not knowing what to do with my hands.
>>
>>445513
You introduce yourself saying Erm, hello. I'm Oliver Penelope, but most people just call me OP.Your hands fidgeting betraying your nervousness.

The person behind the desk, evidently the town magistrate motions you to a chair with out looking up from the documents strewn across his desk.

Do you:
>move to one of the chairs and sit
>move to one of the chairs and remain standing
>awkwardly remain stationary and shuffle your feet
>write in
>>
>>445827
>move to the chair and sit in it, I then move to another chair deciding the first one was uncomfortable.
>>
>>446060
You walk over to one of the chairs gestured at in a small sitting area that is in the office and try to get comfortable. After squirming for a couple minutes you decide to see if one of the other chairs is more comfortable. You find that the new chair is much more comfortable, although there is now a spot on your back that the chair is now making hurt. Never less, there isn't likely a better chair in this room, save for the one the magistrate sits in behind his desk.

After a few more minutes, the magistrate lets out a sigh, clearly at some impasse with the documents he was looking at. He then slides his chair back and looks over to you. So your the one the oracle spoke to huh?

How do you respond?
>confirm his statement
>oracle? What oracle?
>write in
>>
>>446110
>confirm his statement
>>
>>446167
Mr magistrate seams to know what's going on anyways, no need to skirt the thing. Yes sir. That would be me.

Well, you going to make me ask? He stares at you as if he were trying to look at your soul as he says this.

Do you?
>Reply with what the oracle told you.
>huh, ask what?
>write in
>>
>>446230
>reply with what the oracle told me.
>>
>>446333
She said I was destined to be a sorcerer, but I've never done anything like that before.

A sorcerer? That is quite rare in these times. The last known sorcerer was the great king that died several centuries ago..
he trails off mid thought glancing up at you.
Do you:
>ask about this sorcerer king
>ask about sorcerers being rare
>stare back at him waiting for him to continue
>write in
>>
>>446397
>ask about sorcerer king and why they are rare
>>
>>447299
Sorcerer king? you inquire.

Yes, several hundred years ago, there was a great sorcerer who married into the royal family. The then king couldn't produce an eligible hair and so on his deathbed named the sorcerer his hair. The sorcerer then became king and unified much of the land and had treaties enacted between the humans, elves, and dwarves, and there was a peace treaty with the dragons. From what I recall reading this very town was started as a trade outpost from those treaties. He slowly starts mumbling and you can barely make out that last sentence, coming to a stop.

you said sorcerers were rare?

Yes, quite. A few dozen years after the sorcerer king died, some people got scared that someone would come along and create another empire or go killing a lot of people and most sorcerers were hunted and killed. As a result very few of those susceptible to becoming sorcerers ever studied the craft, and it all but died out. But that was a long time ago. I think I heard one of my acquaintances mention something about a sorcery school in the capitol that was started to preserve the knowledge that was almost lost. If you were to visit the capitol I could probably convince them to let you stay with them for a bit.... Probably need to come up with some gold though.... He mumbles on for a few minutes.

Do you:
>ask about that acquaintance and lodging
>ask about sorcerery school
>ask about mumbling
>write in.

I'll continue to use this thread as long as I can, but here in another 14 hours when I will next start will be at the 3 day bump limit, so well be in auto sage. When the suptg archive comes back online (it's giving dns errors), I'll update the archived copy. Just wanted to let you know I case a reply comes after I go to bed in another 2 hours.
