"What did I miss?">>30000This!The dim light going trough the holes of the stony roof of the caves is not enough for you to discern the face of Leader as she runs alongside you. As the tunnel drifts you notice it splits into another path. Leader keeps drifting and everyone follows, but you manage to notice a haremhorn stood behind alone at the entry of the pathway. No one else noticed; not even the hornmothers or haremhorns right in front of her. The last you see of her is her flowing black hair vanish in the branching path, and soon templars follow.
For a split second you glace at the enemy; black crosses for eyes in a gray box and metal all over their body, holding black steel in an odd manner; horns nowhere to be seen. You keep running, your horns heavier and your back stinging; the sound of two brief explosions making you forget that.It seems she won you a little time.
>>44415You are an old himehorn, a very tall hornmother; a former Leader that abdicated due to mental illness. Sometimes you get paralyzed and start dreaming instantly, warping your perception of reality; sometimes it’s very hard to notice. Time flows on as you sleep, but you are ready; the contraption attached to your left hand will wake you up should you press the tiny central wire. It hurts a lot.(At any time during the quest choices you can use the>Pathfinderin order to wake up. Beware; each use makes it less effective, and it may take more than one stab to bring you back. You can use the Pathfinder alongside other choices as well; but the pain is numbing and may make things harder.)
It seems that ever since Leader rushed into the tunnels you’ve been heading straight to the nursery. Besides being where most of the smallhorns are, except for the ones the haremhorns usually bring to the library (most of which are in your group, screaming and crying) there’s a mandatory secret exit pathway there. You arrive at the hornmother’s lounge, and it takes not long to notice two lone hornmothers staring at you, surrounded by painted walls of bulky musclehorns and cute looking round tables filled with food and wine, one holding a card over her head, mouth wide open while you bend on your knees gasping for air, Leader not much happier than you at your right. Then you take a deep breath and rise carefully not to get dizzy, and turn to her.>What path will you take?
>>44444quint quads of wisdom
Which ever path will let me CHECK THOSE QUINTS
>>44479>PathfinderMake sure we aren't dreaming! I hope we are!
>>4447911-have some people grab any tools that may be necessary while on the run. See if there are any bags in there and grab them8- Just keep on running through5- Grab as much food as you can and if we have the bags fill them up. 1-then on the way to the nursery! Save the little ones and escape!
>>44730Where do you go first?>>44773You feel a sharp, searing pain in your left hand and for a very brief moment you wonder if you'l ever get used to it, but once it subsides to remember haremhorns who lived their whole life after you first put on the pathfinder. And except for your face flinching, nothing changes; you are still out of breath. A haremhorn touches your hand and you lift your gaze; she's very sad and concerned."Leader! Listen to me! We should...">What path will you take?
>>44837Anonhorns! Do you agree with this course of action?
>>44926Also, "once it subsides to.." "once it subsides you..."Typos. T_T I'l give anonhorn some time to vote!
>>44837"...go trough the workshop and grab some weapons and tools to defend ourselves, then we could just run through the hot waters into the kitchen, maybe get a kitchen knife and some food! We won't..." You gasp. You ARE old, after all. "...we won't make it far without food, Leader!"Leaders are Leaders because sometimes the herd has no time to argue, make points or prove things, so when the herd has to react fast they just follow whatever the Leader says instead of wasting time... which is what Leader is doing right now by nodding at you. A shivering hornmother is soon hugged by a haremhorn, who strongly grabs her hand as your three musclehorns lie in wait to ambush anything that comes into the den.Looking at Leader a flash of hindsight fills your head so sudden it could hurt; there's a secret exit right here, in this den, hidden under a table too close to the floor where the hornmothers like to sit around (and dance over when someone gets angry at them). Not wasting the dim light you count horns with your finger; three musclehorns, six haremhorns and four hornmothers (not counting Leader) surround you. The haremhorns and hornmothers hold as many smallhorns as they can in their arms. The thought of Leader being impaled strikes you again and makes you shiver from feet to horns.>“Leader! Take (who should Leader take with her?) the next exit! Go!”>You ignore it and keep on going unto the workshop
>>45127>You ignore it and keep on going unto the workshop. They won't get far without food, go for the food and tools together.
>>45139You decide not to bring it up; she knows about the secret exit as well, so it's her will for all of you to go togueter; and yet you still shiver. And looking at the smallhorns crying in her arms and the sounds of screams and broken bodies that echo from the tunnels do not help much either.Without more warning Leader rushes trough the cute tables (you quickly agree that there's no time to go through the dishes, since hornmothers always leave some empty) straight to the black curtain painted with the white symbols of your herd and lifts it open; and you are all now going trough the tunnel, not running as fast as before. You finnally reach what haremhorns call the workshop. It seems someone lost a lot in that game of cards and too many hornmothers danced in one of the long tables, because of the slim attempt at repair that lies before you on the ground, surrounded by tools of many shapes on many tiny tables along the walls of the cave, a ladder that has a knife stuck to hit for some reason and many other details you don't consider anymore as you command everyone to gather what they can. Soon a hornmother is slowly swallowing as she holds a tiny hammer with both hands; most haremhorns take knifes almost from out of nowhere and split them among themselves, while the musclehorns weapon of choice is the musclehorn himself. You and Leader both take knifes as well. You hear a shattering scream comes from the tunnel that leads to the hot waters; you didn't grasp it's nature.>"Let's go! We can't let the templars gain on us!">"Everyone... hide!">You silently point at the musclehorns and hide.
Hornscum deserve to be destroyed.
>>45419>"Everyone... hide!"The group is too small to lose anyone. We may be the only ones to make it out.
>>45464nohorn go home
>>45464G-go home nohorn! ;-;>>45436>>45466Haremhorns slowly pat the smallhorns in their arms as they hide behind boxes and under tables, while hornmother's aren's so lucky at making them crying and just hold their hands against their tiny mouths as they try hard not to cry in fear themselves. You stare up; musclehorns are holding themselves close to the roof against the corners of the table. They look fearsome, at that takes a slight sigh of relief from your old lips. Then after some time (every second feels so long) you hear footsteps coming from the tunnel to the workshop's entrance, coming near, every second the sound grows a little stronger. When you ponder why it sounds so odd you notice white hair and black armor and blood; a templar is dragging a bigger templar with all the strenght she can muster trough the floor, leaving a trail of blood. She then notices the musclehorns in the roof, and you wonder if she noticed the one behind her as her head exploded under the musclehorn's hand. It seems she was crying. The other templar doesn't seem to breathe, but it stops mattering when a musclehorn crushes her head under her feet. You notice yourself breathing fast; how did they get here so fast?! Suddenly; more footsteps from the tunnel.>"No time to waste! Let's go!">"Hide the bodies! Fast!"
>>45629>"No time to waste! Let's go!"
>>45629Get out of there. If anything, the bodies out in the open are a better ward than a locked door.
>>45629"...at making them STOP crying" aaaaaaaaaaa typoooooos!!
>>45629Let's get out of here. And nohorns go home!>"No time to waste! Let's go!"
>>45464NOHORN GO HOME, YAY YAY
Please do not bully the nohorns!
>>45663>>45712...you say loudly enough that the sound may not leave the room, which is almost a whisper that's quickcly quelled by the hard sound of musclehorns hitting the floor from above. The one that obliterated the cute templar quickly shakes the gore out of her hand and goes head first into the tunnel entrance before any other; you forget how to breathe as you watch her tall, bulky shaped body slowly dissapear under some force you can't see.Suddenly your neck hurts a lot and you can't scream; something warm is pressing hard against your mouth. It comes into view; it's Leader's hand. She's kneeling next to you. You turn your eyes to her; her's seem between sad and desperate. "How long?" you mutter, "Just some seconds! Let's go!""It could have been far, far worst...", you think to yourself as you clench your left hand. You swallow, slowly; it seems a smallhorn is sobbing behind you, but it could have been a hornmother. The templars couldn't have catched up with you that fast, after all.>You send the musclehorns to scout the next room. It seems the screams were real.>You think about the smallhorns in the nursery. It almost hurts. "We can't waste more time! Let's go!"
>>46008>You think about the smallhorns in the nursery. It almost hurts. "We can't waste more time! Let's go!"
>>46008>You send the musclehorns to scout the next room. It seems the screams were real.Think of the Herd. If we don't escape, the Herd is probably doomed. The smallhorns in the nursery will be fine because we rescue them, or they won't and we must survive.
>>46008>You send the musclehorns to scout the next room.If it's just panic, they would at least provide a sense of security.
>>46008>>You think about the smallhorns in the nursery. It almost hurts. "We can't waste more time! Let's go!"use the pathfinder?
>>46278Nervermind, I'll switch to send musclehorns to scout to break the tie.
>>46008>You think about the smallhorns in the nursery. It almost hurts. "We can't waste more time! Let's go!"We can't risk it. As long as a few hornmothers escape the herd will live on.
>>46179>>46164Why would anybody hide if the scream was a dream? As the musclehorns march fast and silently (they are brutal, natural predators) you let your gaze wonder to Leader, and you wonder if you could handle yourself without her. And as you notice where the train of thoughts lead you look elsewhere in order to stop it; this is no time to panic. The musclehorns return unscattered, and without a single word everyone starts running trough the tunnel again, the echo of screams and clashes of battle bouncing out of every wall.It doesn't take long to reach the hot springs. As you reach the entrance you take just one second to feel relieved that no hornmother dropped any of the smallhorns in their arms; the one you stare as you run has three, their tiny arms clenching her black robe with all the little strenght they can muster. And as you reach the center of the hot springs you don't fail to notice the templars coming from the room used for general storage at the east. You took too long.>"RUN TO THE KITCHEN!">"RUN TO THE BATHROOM!"
It's been ages since I've went to /tg/, and now there's a fucking board for quests? And Dan is here?My night can't get better.Dan please eat something sweet, it's good for depression.
>>46411>"RUN TO THE KITCHEN!"If the nohorn bullies get distracted, we might grab food, then its a straight haul to the nursery
>>46411>>"RUN TO THE KITCHEN!"Forget the food, just get to the little ones!
>>46411Kitchen! Maybe if we're lucky there will be some haremhorn reinforcements with CHOPCHOPCHOP knives.
>>46455>>46485Every himehorn in the room is sprinting desperately towards the kitchen's entrance without even screaming; and you were as well, not even turning your to the rain of explosions behind, and the vapor from the hot springs seems to have had something to do with you getting to the entrance in one piece. You turn around; it seems your luck couldn't be shared. You notice two haremhorns and a musclehorn near the room, the musclehorn almost falling into one of the springs. They don't move. And before your mind goes blank you notice a hornmother screaming in the floor near the kitchen entrance behind you, smallhorns scattered around her.Her leg is broken.>"Don't look! KEEP RUNNING! DON'T LOOK!>"WE HAVE TO SAVE HER!"The vapor of the hot springs covers her, but the tiny explosions keep on happening.
>>46656"not even turning your HEAD" aaaaaaa!!"...and a musclehorn near THE CENTER of the room."Can I change this later?Like it never did happen? ;-;Is any anonhorn a witch?
>>46656>"Don't look! KEEP RUNNING! DON'T LOOK!We can cry later. That's what I'm gonna do.>Can I change this later?>Like it never did happen? ;-;>Is any anonhorn a witch? You can only delete the post and then make a new post.It still makes sense to me.
>>46656>"Don't look! KEEP RUNNING! DON'T LOOK!It's too late for the hornmother. We can't slow down. Not even for the other smallhorns. As long as we can save one smallhornmother the herd will live on.
>>46656>>"WE HAVE TO SAVE HER!"No one deserves that fate of being left behind.
>>46713>>46734You either shouted too late or the haremhorn did not care; she did not doubt either. She lifts the hornmother on her left shoulder and the three smallhorns climb to her right arm as everything around her explodes, including one of her horns. She doesn't even flinch; and as she comes unscattered another haremhorns grabs the smallhorns and, suddenly, you were already running towards the kitchen. The tunnel ahead is very long; your eyes water as you consider your choices.>You tell the musclehorns to stay behind.>...But you don't. You keep on running.
>>46857>Keep running.Without some musclehorns on hand we're good as dead.
>>46857>...But you don't. You keep on running.Get to the kitchen!
>>46857We need to get going. We shouldn't have waited before, we lost too much time, they're gaining on us, and it's likely some crusaders will sneak past a line of musclehorns.
>>46981>>46984>>46989"We are almost there! Just hang on!" you shout, your lungs now empty. The sound of step after step is everything you hear; until halfway trough the tunnel a hornmother screams as hail of explosions erupt behind you. You don't look back; it wouldn't change much. You stop. Templars seal the entrance to the kitchen from the other side. One of the nohorns has no helmet, hair white hair flowing freely with the wind.No more footsteps sound. No more explosions, either. You notice Leader's hand in yours; she's shaking from feet to horns. The haremhorns turn the smallhorns in their arms towards the cave walls and you hear a quiet, peaceful hum; "Happy Horns, Happy Herd, Happy Egg..."What would seem to be the Templar Leader approaches you, her cold stare looking straight to your black eyes.>Talk.>"...Musclehorn!" Might as well take as many with us as we can. You clench your knife.>Kneel.
someone save us from these nohorns
>>47128>Talk.Maybe we can talk our way out of this. We'll cover for Leader, so if we die, she can pick up where we left off.Its all for the herd.
>>47128Agreed with >>47191And even if we both go down we can buy some time. Maybe some other hornmothers might escape.
>>47191"N-nohorn... We dwell below. We honor the Pact! We dwell below!"The templar... just stares at you. You feel how a single drop of sweat goes from your himecut to between your eyes, and drifts at your snow; the templar is right in front of you looking at you with dead, cold eyes. She smiles but her mouth keeps expanding, twisting her gaze and your quivering eyes slowly rise to the roof as the templar becomes the great shadow of a giant beast with a big, big smile. You can't move. You try to scream. You can't scream. You manage to turn your head around to Leader; she's smiling too.And then she's not. You push her from over you, a haremhorn catching her and almost falling on her own. Your breath is heavy and your hand is on your chest; and you close your eyes in an attempt to regain what's left of your shaking sanity. You open them again, Leader still staring at you dumbfolded; but you notice the wet under her eyes. You are in the kitchen. Haremhorns and musclehorns are barricading the gate with everything they can find. A hornmother is hugging her smallhorns in a corner, in utter silence. You count horns again:two haremhorns, a musclehorn and a hornmother died at the hot springs. There is only one musclehorn now, three haremhorns and two hornmothers. The musclehorn must have stalled the templars to give the rest the time to get to the kitchen; it's a long, straight passage, and the templar weapons kill by looking at you. So..It seems a hornmother died to save you.
>>47429You just stare at the ground.
>>47448Quest is over for today, anonhorn! And... you seem to be having a bad time. ;w;Don't worry, you can make it! All at takes is a little thinking and some musclehorns... maybe just one musclehorn could be enough.
>>47521Thanks for the fun, Haremhorn. This quest isn't as comfy as I thought it would be, but I really want to help Old Leader get to somewhere comfy.
>>47521and please archive for future herds.
>>47521Thanks for running, Haremhorn!I guess we need to check our sanity more often.
>>47561The clues are very subtle.
>>47584Perhaps typos are the clues?

>>47634Too clever for me.
>>47654Maybe that's why they're so mean, they aren't ever comfy.
>>47654Also, I've a question to ask. What's the inspiration for this quest? Where'd you get the images from?
>>47671I agree! They should take off that heavy armor. It must hurt the knees!
