Fishermen on the Longfork River have whispered of strange things since the destruction of Nayte; now, these whispers are shouts. A swarm of lunatics have settled in the furthest south-east forest in the realm of Roggar.

The first generation are merely magic-sensitive men and women whose minds were fried by the magic unleashed at Nayte; sadly, the madness is all their children will ever know, along with their own myriad of issues, physical and mental.

Following the events within the portal at Nayte, the leader known as "Manman" has failed to return. Not knowing (or perhaps caring) why, the lunatic Barnaby has declared himself leader of his fellows.

In the reign of Nick Ashwood, Barnaby somehow became Royal Admiral, and promptly ignited several ships on suspicion of swampweed smuggling. In the year 251 he was imprisoned for decade by reason of arson, and spent one day a week smoking swampweed with a man named Lee, who acted as his temporary replacement.

In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
Our civilization would have to progress on its own and so for generations we worked the lands, expanded in numbers and territory. We adopted goblin miners, fought dragons and welcomed a demonic warband. Adventures were had, technology progressed as we explored more and more of the world, largely adopting the faith of the New Gods of the Pantheon.
In the last year and a half a terrible war ravaged the land. Dark elves, dragons, orcs, centaurs, ogres, norsemen and demons sought to bring about the end of the mighty Kingdom of Paitras. Roggar's King and his closest friends were seduced by a dark elf witch into pledging their aid for the Horde. As the Legions of Paitras fought to protect the Duchy of Kulargar from invasions, a civil war raged within Roggar between supporters of Paitras and supporters of the Horde. Battles, betrayals and struggles culminated in the Siege of Nayte, the center of secular science in Roggar and home to our demon community. Outnumbered and outmatched by the enemy, the defenders of Nayte set off a powerful magical explosion that wiped both the city and the attackers off the face of the Earth, leaving only a large crater.
Spring came again and the leaders of Roggar's warring factions came together in the capital, Dragonstomb, to select a new Dragonking.

In the east, the Horde crushed the power of the mighty Paitran Kingdom, which splintered off into multiple smaller states, while the various races of the Horde also took their own paths, some returning to their traditional homelands, others setting themselves up as rulers over the humans. The lands of Paitras themselves are split into many smaller states, most recently we've learned of the Free City of Ravlegith.

After the Second Horde War the Norsemen were united into an Empire, for years afterwards a civil war raged over who was to take the throne and now we've learned that Innar I of Kraeverag has asserted himself as Emperor - the norse have lost control of all their southern colonies, but they are united once more in the homeland.
Most recently in our Kingdom, we dealt with the Portal that opened in the Nayte Crater, saw the rise of a new Prophet, Parvedan, and conquered new lands in the east.

G - the Pontifficate of Gregariapol.

Gregariapol stands as the largest city in the former lands of Paitras, its Pontiff claims the diocese of the former High Pontiff of Dominas, but can not claim the title without reclaiming the holy city. They have steady relationships with the other Paitran states and good relationships with the High Elves.

Our diplomatic envoys arrive in the great city of Gregariapol - the Pontifficate is smaller than our Kingdom in territory, but it is a lot more densely populated, the city is home to roughly half the state's population.
Its walls are tall and strong, the soldiers in this city are like the Legionnaries of old, the banners show on one side the symbol of the old city - the - and the symbol of the Church of Paitras, a sun with thirteen blazing rays, one for each of the Gods of the Pantheon.
The Grand Temple of Juras in Gregariapol is home to the Pontiff and the heads of the clergy, who rule the state.
Our envoys went to the Temple to meet with them, but the priests decided that it would be better to discuss matters of the state in the Hall of Administration, a decently-sized mansion that is filled with scribes and records, with little room left for what it was originally built for.
We explain our positions, our wish to restore the unity of the human lands, we ask that the state join us as we promise to soon liberate the Holy City, Dominas - our churches will be united and Mankind will stand stronger under one faith and one crown.
Pontiff Inatlivus is silent through most of our explanation. Once we are finished, he begins speaking.
"You speak of unity, yet where was your Kingdom when Paitras needed help the most? When the Horde knocked on your doorstep, our Legions were there to help. The second time you opened your door and let them have at us. All of that we could forgive, were it the only issue.
You speak of faith, yet you have not only accepted the heretic Parvedan, but also proclaimed him Prophet! You've colluded with pagan norsemen and vile dragons.
We do not wish to ever come in conflict with fellow believers - indeed, it is our opinion that you are misguided, not malicious in your intentions. However, it is obvious to any observer that you pursue expansion eastward, into lands you have no claim to. The only man with a claim to the throne of Paitras is the Duke of Ezgielath and the only Church with a claim to the High Pontifficate is this one. We would welcome your assisstance in reclaiming Dominas and helping unite the splintered nations of Paitras, but it will not be you who rule over these lands. Paitras and Roggar agreed to respect each other's sovereignty, were we so greedy in the past, your Kingdom would have been swallowed up by our Legions.
Meditate on these words. Consider your actions, past, present and future. We will welcome friends and allies, but not foreign tyrants.
Your delegation will recieve free lodgings in the city for the next week and you may sightsee at will."
It seems the rulers of Gregariapol will not surrender their independence to foreigners.
As our delegation was preparing to leave the mansion, a well-dressed man that was supervising the work of the scriptors approaches us.
"I have an offer to you gentlemen, if you will listen. Away from the eyes and ears of the priests."
A.Follow him
B.Be on our way

We follow the man to a house in the rich part of town, somewhat average-looking in that quarter, but definately a nice place to live in.
Making sure that no one else has followed us and that there are no spies around, he offers us some food and drinks at his table while he tells us his story.
"My name is Randall Chaezar III. My father Randall was the last Duke of Gregariapol before the Kingdom of Paitras was destroyed. I was born in the years after the sacking of this city - in those years of disorder my father still kept the reins and upheld order in the city. Shortly after my birth, my father fell in battle, trying to protect his ally and vassal, the Count of Vaesdeman, from the norse invasion. After the norsemen claimed victory, they sacked the countryside all the way up to the walls of this city. I was but an infant at that point, when the Priests under the then-Pontiff, Uripal, took power. They took my father's mansion and made it into a scriptorium - the Hall of Administration that we visited. All of these years I and my family were made to serve under the Pontiff, as senior civilian bureaucrats. Stripped of our position without right, what justice do these priests of Juras profess to be spreading?!"
Calming down, he continues
"And so it is. I have no memory of the time when my father reigned and my young son has lived his entire life under the rule of these usurpers.
They talk of preserving our independence, but for years now they've been negotiating with the other Remnant States and the High Elves. Within the decade, this city will be part of a larger nation."

"To get to the point, if you ensure that it is I who rule this city as Duke of Gregariapol, then that nation will be the Kingdom of Roggar."
How does he plan to go about reclaiming power, we ask.
"If you march your armies, the other states will quickly intervene. Even if you win, it will barely be worth it.
You've tried diplomacy, you know what it'll lead to.
That leaves only the more covert ways...I have two plans for that.
The first has more risk for the city, but we would not be suspects. The second will probably succeed and will be more bloodless, but we will almost surely be suspected of it, even if there is no evidence."
A.Plan A: Somehow get orcs, demons or some other nonhuman group to eliminate the Pontiff and his priests

Success! Using halfling assassins, we managed to eliminate the Pontiff and several other high-ranking priests, while framing the whole scenario as an incident of pederasty, thus discrediting those priests. Public outcry against them allowed Randall Chaezar to seize power in Gregariapol and he has now just sworn loyalty to Roggar, being granted the title of Duke.
Rolling for event.

It is a calm spring morning in 261, the royal family are breaking their fast in the King's Palace, with a gorgeous view towards the sea...usually. The mist has been unusually thick and unnerving this morning. The quiet is broken by the sound of horns...norsemen! It appears part of them are trying to attack the King's Pallace, while the rest are going for the docks - they've already set several of our war triremes aflame before we could get men there!

What should the troops in the city of Dragonstomb focus on?

A.The docks, try to save as many ships as we can and stop the norsemen from attacking the city
B.The King's Palace - though it has its own guards and walls, it must take priority in defence!

We have two thousand soldiers stationed in the Capital and we've sounded the alarms, telling the citizen-militia to take up arms, which will quadriple the number of defending troops within an hour or two.

It seems a large force has been dedicated to assaulting the Palace. A group on each gate and the main force on the walls, scaling them with hooks launched from their ships.
The King has 80 human soldiers, spearmen and swordsmen, as well as himself, his eldest son and his minotaur bodyguard, Allep. His wife and second son as well as most of the Palace staff are noncombatants.

The defenders of the Palace will have to hold the norsemen off until reinforcements arrive, they are unlikely to be able to take care of them on their own.

Now, brave defenders, the fight is upon you!

The arrival of reinforcements, led by the Royal Diplomat, Bardolf Godric, tipped the scales of battle. Bardolf is an old man who was short on breath from running, but he had brought good warriors along with him.
As Allep the Minotaur's axe cleaved norsemen and the King shot arrow after arrow into the dragon, one into his left eye even, the Royal Diplomat's nephew, the young warrior Reinhard Godric jumped onto the dragon, climbed up his neck and plunged his sword deep into the Ice Dragon's skull, delivering the final blow.

With the dragon dead, the remaining norsemen surrendered.

The King is safe and we've finally got materials to make a proper new Dragonbone Crown after the destruction of the previous one during the Second Horde War.

Vote on these two matters
1.Counsil powers
A.They stay the same
B.In matters which concern the position, the Councilor's vote counts as 2
C.Councilors each have a second H ability with its own cooldown, separate from the personal faction project. The Councilor Project must concern the Councilor's position, for instance, commision more ships to be built.
This it's possible to do this if you're a counsilor:
Turn 1:Personal Project
Turn 2:Faction Project
Turn 3:Something else
Turn 4:Personal Project
Turn 5:Faction Project

2.Titles
A.Any faction leader who owns lands may ask the King for a title such as Lord, Baron, Count, Duke etc. - it gives you prestige and is inherited by your heirs
B.Set up a pyramid structure - at the top stands the King, below him there are Dukes, under them serve Counts and Lords and under them serve Barons. You could be a Count/Lord sworn directly to the King as well (This is the Crusader Kings 2 system).
C.No pyramid, but everyone gets a title to show off, is sworn directly to the King

Councilors' votes count as 2 when relevant(PLEASE INFORM ME IF IT IS SO, I CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING)
And here's the administrative map of the Kingdom of Roggar(Not included is the Duchy of Grigariapol)

Tell me now if there's any complaints with it.
A single faction can own multiple titles
I've marked down the names of Counties that are part of Duchies if said County belongs to someone other than the Duke.
I think the County of Shekelsburg is owned by the Duke of Bullhorn(Iron Legion) right now, but it is de jure part of another Duchy.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong on anything

Messengers rushed out on the fastest horses to inform the neighbouring regions to send forces ASAP. We've raised another 4000 men from the city militia to bolster the professionals and we've got men on the walls and a few ballistae ready.
The norsemen are disembarking on the docks.
The King's family has been evacuated, he himself has taken command of the city's defence.
"We will fight on the beaches, we will fight on the walls, we will fight in the streets!"
The city is surounded by walls and the docks are outside of them, so the norsemen will have to deal with our fortifications. The main trouble here is, they have dragons.
Nevertheless, fear not, brave men of Roggar! The hour of truth is upon you, will you stand or will you fall?

The three dragons gathered up their power and launched magical attacks - hail, blizzard, freeze, the power of Ice was unleashed and the few priests we had couldn't stop them. Thousands perished as the norsemen took the walls and pushed us into the city where the carnage continues!
We're down to 5000 men after that combined attack. We can see the Emperor of the Norse, Innar, leading their charge.

The enemy has the advantage!

The battle is all but lost, when the norsemen stop their advance, pushed us back to the western walls.
One of the Ice Dragons calmly lands on the ground between the two armies, walks a few meters towards us and halts.

Who will face me in single combat? Who was the mortal who killed my brother? Show yourself, fool!"

Eiserax's focus however was on Allep, who had pulled down his loincloth and exposed himself while yelling unintelligible words. This gave Griff and Reinhard enough time to take out the dragon's eyes. In several consecutive motions, Griff also struck at the Dragon's face and neck, at a scale that was exposed, hitting an important blood vessel and causing the Dragon to collapse. After a few last spasms, Eiserax lay dead....
This roll is for us now.

Allep tried to help Reinhard escape, but was struck in the back by an ice bolt, several arrows and a thrown axe. He turned around, wheezing and bleeding and picked up his axe as the norsemen jumped him, cutting him bit by bit even as he struggled, even managing to kill one of the attackers. Soon enough though, Allep fell down flat on his face. The norse mounted his head on a pike and turned towards Reinhard.

If this roll is over 31, they catch him as he tries to escape

Dragonstomb has fallen...many brave soldiers along with it.
The army has regrouped at the Citadel, where reports are coming in of other coastal regions coming under assault from norse raiders. With our fleet decimated, we have no way to stop them at sea and must react to their invasions by land...but that is a story for next time, for this is where this session ends.

The nords sacked Dragonstomb, killed thousands and took most of those that survived as slaves. They raided other places along our northern coastline, but it seems most of their forces were focused on our capital, since local militias were able to defend all major coastal settlements, with just a few small fishing communities taking more damage.
By spring's beginning the norsemen seem to have returned to their homeland...

H. ~From the desk of the Royal Diplomat~

Dearest Friends and Allies of Roggar,

You are hereby cordially invited to the once in a lifetime event, dubbed "Project Weedboat", the first ever attempt at utilising a 'metal boat', also known as the floating furnace, as a mass swampweed inhalation device, as put together by your gracious host Barnaby. This will take place at Nayte Crater Lake within several moons time; gifts of foreign drinks or drugs would be greatly appreciated.

Come to socialise, stay for the swampweed.

"So this is what happened? By the Gods...I must tell the Kingdom!"
Rory was investigating in Dragonstomb when at last the realisation struck him...he had connected all the dots and this final bit of information made it certain! He knew who was responsible and the massive conspiracy that was behind the assassination of King Nick Ashwood. He ran back to the tavern room he had rented where he had been keeping his findings - both in material evidence and writing.
Opening the door, he gasped, terrified at the sight that beheld him...he was not alone...

Today a tavern in Dragonstomb was burned down by an unknown arsonist. Among the rubble the corpse of Rory Hawthorne was found.

The metal boat project resulted in a vessel that once launched was increadibly heavy upon the water. The use of the furnaces and the experimentation with swampweed among the crew led to the sinking of the Weedboat and the death of all crewmembers, including Admiral Barnaby, who was wondering why his joint had gotten wet in his final moments in the water.

Fuck. Thanks for the Fs guys.

Bulgar, can my successor continue with the work?

To develop a wit as sharp as steel, one needs time. Unfortunately, Finn Hawthorne had that, with a near always absent father and a lack of both arm and leg. He spent years getting used to his peg leg, and when he thought he was used to that, his father shoved him into battle, where he lost an arm, and his dignity.

After his father's death, Finn often wondered of his purpose. That was when he realized what he must do. Carve out a name for himself in Roggar be it with steel or poison. He couldn't care less about his father - that bastard's - death, but he knew what he could do. He often heard his father mutter about evidence while he lay wounded after the Norse siege. But now, he knew he could find the kingkiller, and restore the Hawthorne name.

Still stuck in Spain. Goddamn French planes.

Sure, but you'll essentially be starting from square one. Your father's notes and the material evidence he collected are gone, you only have the things he told you to go on(a dark elf payed by a norseman who was payed by a paitran man). Moreover, the assassination took place years ago and in that timeframe Dragonstomb was sacked, so most potential witnesses or people who can help are gone. Still, you can try.

The climax to a number of secret rolls and behind-the-scenes conspiring...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns7fNPiNiNc

Followers of the Academy have been working on developing mining golems for decades. When Nick Ashwood was King, he used his influence to propel the project even further. Mining golems that could work underwater were developed. They prospected the Nayte Crater Lake - initially they only found traces of silver, but as they continued to work, they found something more...a magically-enchanced form of silver...a metal to surpass magic gear - Galentine. It was a perfect base for magical enchantments and artefacts, but it was rare and kept as secret, rarely used.
When King Steven Sharpshot lost an eye and an arm in the defence of Dragonstomb, the Followers of the Academy tried to use Galentine, healing magic and the most advanced medicinal sciences they had accesss to in order to rebuild the King's arm with Galentine. While the arm was somewhat functioning, when they attempted to rebuild his lost eye they found that they had bitten off more than they could chew and the King soon died in agony. The Followers were distraught, but they did not abandon their goal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XmDYJBZZdc
Finn Hawthorne, the son of the previous Spymaster, Rory, lacked a leg and had lost an arm fighting the Ice Dragon Eiserax.
In Hell's Crusade, with the King's private concent, the Followers of the Academy once again made the attempt to rebuild lost limbs with Galentine. This time they succeeded.
It was hardly a work of beauty, though. Finn had control over his new leg quite well and could walk, run, crawl. He could also move his arm, though its fingers were not very flexible. The other scars throughout his body had not vanished, however.
Dean Ashwood, King Griff and Finn Hawthorne stood at the edge of the Crater, looking towards the lake, remembering those who had fallen. Two young children passed by, one pointed towards Finn "Look! A demon!". As the children ran off, Hawthorne sighed.
"I never asked for this"

It's a long way to Hikalith. The group passes by Ravlegith, the young free city. Interestingly, it is a place that is founded by Paitrans, but has denizens of many races - there's high elves, humans, goblins, centaurs, some dwarves and even gnomes - a race we hadn't encountered before, good with science and crafts. The Free City is a very interesting place indeed, but our destination lies further south.
As we enter the Duchy, we pass by small fortified villages in the hills and at every step we feel eyes watching us. We pass by the town of Ezpozeith but only stay for one night.
Eventually we reach Hikalith, the only place that can really be called a city in this Duchy. Here we also see some dwarves and gnomes living and working. We see minotaur mercenaries, but the majority of the population are local humans. Though these lands were part of Paitras, the men of the Free Mountains could be described as the least-assimilated humans in the former Kingdom. They had accepted the Pantheon, but the Kingdom's rule over these regions was a lot looser. The locals value their culture and it is said that the Paitrans had the toughest time conquering them, even though their numbers have never been truly great.
What should we aim to do in this city?

We chance upon the Duke while he's inspecting a simple house outside the city walls.
"Matters of State? Ah, very well, off we go to my glorious palace."
He takes us to a mansion that could belong to any of the nobles in Gregariapol's rich quarters.
"So, what are you looking for in the Free Mountains? If you haven't caught on yet, I'll tell you an important thing about the people in these parts - they value their freedom. Now, my great-grandfather may have been born in Dominas, but my father, grandfather and I were born here and I've come to respect the way of life here. You protect yourself, your family, you protect your kinsmen, you protect your community. In that order. You don't let anyone order you around if you don't agere to it. You enjoy both the little and the big things in life. Be good and the Gods will be good to you."
"So, what is it you want? We welcome traders from everywhere and tyrants from nowhere."

We require you assistance in removing the Demon and Orc threats ffrom Paitracian lands. While we come from different tribes we can draw many similarities between our people for we to value freedom. That's why we come here to you so that we may better protect our freedom. Wild orcs are ravaging the lands of old Paitras while the Demons run amok enslaving people. How long do you think before they set their eyes west, before they attack the Free Mountains and before they attack Roggar? And the norsemen to the North have stopped squabbling and in fighting and now set their eyes to the south. We come here not as conquers or as tyrants, we come here as defenders and uniters for the human nations NEED TO PROTECT THEIR FREEDOM FROM THE GRIP OF THE DEMONS< ORCS AND MANY MORE ENEMIES IN THE SHADOWS! That's our purpose today, to defend our freedom and pride as humans.

Offer them trade, give them a lick of Godric honey, and we could trade swampweed with them.

Also let him be the duke and have contorl of his lands, but we should work together in the future against the threats of orcs and demons.

Also let me try marriages one more time, tell them the Godric name is one worth marrying into. We are known dragon slayers and makers of fine honey.

The Duke laughs at your tales.
"Aye, all folks have their tales."

Having heard the words of our diplomats, the Duke takes a bit to think, eating some honey in the meanwhile.

"I'll tell you what. If we ever have orc or demon problems we'll call you. If you ever have orc or demon problems, you can call us. We have some products we want to sell and so do you. We can be friends and respect each other's borders."

Well, this is as far as they seem to be willing to go.
After resting and enjoying some of the local foods(a variety of tasty dairy products we hadn't seen before) the party returns home.

Leaders of various factions are called to the King's Palace to discuss matters of state, as is regularly done.
On his way through Dragonstomb, Dean Ashwood is attacked by a band of armed men and brutally slaughtered.

Lawkeepers led a group of soldiers and managed to apprehend several of those thugs. They have been identified as members of the so-called Inquisitorial Death Squads.

This wraps up today's session.
