Your trip to Hermia station Qiel was mandatory; It was that time of the year to check on some documents and other issues. A 'D-32'.

You left your mining ship to a small crew of five who intended to see if you broke any TVEE regulations, It was part of the D-32. You had no other choice really; it was not like they would steal anything from it; any sort of punishment in Hermia domain was severe even for them.

You headed straight to Legalization offices with a handful of documents and permits. Thankfully, It was not a busy day. Once it was your turn, you approached the office.

It was rare to see a Wezekan bound to some Hermia office; This arachnid race served Hermia as agile and vicious Soldiers but in hindsight, their multitasking capabilities would be more than welcome in a mundane job like this. Like All Wezekans, He had four pointy legs , four arms and a vestigial one on his back. His body hair -which covered everything but his eyes and maw- was a mixture of dark blue and bright yellow in some neat patterns.

His name was Xzgrt, you weren't sure how to pronounce that. he wore a grey, tidy suit will blue lining like most of Hermia's officers. While his office was simple, cold and grey, His desk was a bit messy with pillars of Holofiles entombing his nine-eyed face. He wasn't aware of your arrival until you gently knocked on the door.

"Kzzkt Wxz Vks-" The Wezekan cleared his throat, His facial hair trembling "Aa-apologies, It takes some time to get senpai-iliaar to speak Hermia? Hermyaxz? I spent Sxzty years in my homeworld in a bigger offyce, Hermia might be cruex but they do respect some aspects of the worlds they...acquire. They didn't force their languaye too much."

Name: Cassidy Von Maur
Gender: F
Age: 26
Race: Human

Background:

Born as the sole bastard of a broken mother in the slums of Terr CII [City of Spane], Cassidy never had a shoulder to lean on. She had a rough, bitter childhood , her mother would forget her woes in the Zexernet [cheap VR Escapism program/Holodrug] . it didn't last for long as She found her mother dead, strapped to that damn thing. Without any sort of a supporting figure Cassidy soon succumbed into miserable poverty, she had none to guide her.

She might have wound up on a Deterium table for a shady organ harvest if it weren't for Maal Banoon. A low class miner who found her begging for scraps. Something ticked inside Maal, She pulled her out of the streets.

In time, Cassidy turned into a capable woman. She could rely on herself and more if she wanted to. Maal would take her to various mining trips. Cassidy would consider Maal as the mother she never truly had.

it was sudden, unexpected. A disease struck her tutor. Something unknown and vile in one of her 'unauthorized' trips. Cassidy has spent almost all of their Orin [Currency in Hermia's domain] to administer her to a Cyrobed to halt the spread of this unknown Malignancy.

A Zeirkt [ An alien species of crystalline nature. Wears a QauiLock Suit all the time to prevent the release of a Pakticorone byproduct which crystallize almost all organic species- Almost extinct ] doctor by the name of Lobar-ixa showed intrest in this case.

He believed that this unknown disease might also be responsible of the near-extinction of his species. With little authority he had, Lobar-ixa attempted to ignite a project which will identify and possible cure said disease but none showed intrest in funding what could possibly be a financial sinkhole.

None but Cassidy

Name: Mot'isnik Valaa
Gender: M
Age: 2914
Race: Quulan

Background:

Mot'isnik or simply Mot was Qrysallized in Slave world of Quula almost three millennia ago, like the rest of his meta-humanoid race, he was to serve the master race of The Tzxt. A long, bloody revolt which Mot took part in wiped out almost all of the Tzxt, that was until Hermia had to interfere for its own agenda of course.
The Quulan couldn't withstand the wrath of a dominating galactic empire. In the end, they became slaves once again to another bitter, cruel master.

Mot outlived every master he got. He would always bow, take the hit or do anything his master would say. he accepted his fate as some merchandise for buying and selling. The young burning spirit inside his body is no more. His last master, A retired old human miner by the name of Uztuek Vikonov, spent his last months trying to legally free his 12 year old companion. However, Hermia officials would consider Mot as a property nothing more.

As the law dicated, almost all of Uztuek's propeties were claimed by Terr CII and accordingly to Hermia after his death. The old man did find a loophole in the system by writing his ship to Mot and secretly suiting it for him. This sparked a hushed debate inside hermia's legislation offices. They have agreed to give Mot some sort of freedom for two years only so he could find enough resources to 'buy' his freedom. The price tag wasn't cheap though.

Usually, Mot would have accepted a new master but the determination of Uztuek ignited his old spirit, he was determined to buy his freedom for the sake of the old man.

Name: Keshuli Zna Feliun
Gender: M
Age: 41
Race: Vulsian

Background: Born in Vulse, one of the harshest planet in Hermia's domain. Keshuli lived a rough life as a miner, unlike most Vulsians, he volunteered to join the H.T.R (Hermia third ring, a pesudo-independent army fighting for the Hermia domain ) in the seven-year war against The small yet devious Fonta may federations. He was a good solider, everyone in his old squad would vouch for him. Days before said conflict would officially end. A bomb was set in a populated area. The Werrium blast from the bomb obliterated his right arm and leg and a good chunk of his side and face, his quick thinking and action saved dozens of both civilians and soldiers back in Terr CI.
After 9 months of recovery and augmented replacement, he was awarded with the Hermia Oblos ring. He was honorably discharged from the H.T.R.
In these 9 months, he got to know a human nurse by the name of Lilith Strom. Ironically, She was among the civilians he saved. Needless to say, Love did blossom between the two.
Vulsian ancestors were human or close to humans at least. This encouraged the two lovers to have a child.

Their daughter, Wyndol, is fragile with terrible immune system, a somewhat uncommon issue of hybird children. She had more infection and diseases in only three years than him in his entire life. Medlen tech in accosiation with Darmah Bio labs have recently manufactured a powerful serum which will boost the immunity of hybrid species. Due to its rare components, it is extremely expensive.

You apologized, you didn't like it of course but you were certain you would be mad in her place. Beside, none would like to incite a Zeirkt; a simple whiff of their breath would be a gritty death sentence for anyone.

"We will talk about it later." With a smile, you shared your Lindolink with him before leaving the office. It was nice to speak with Xzgrt actually, the few you have met were grumpy war veterans stationed in Vulse.

.

Hermia station Qiel, like many H stations was huge... Never had they install any administrative establishment in any planet they would conquer or Terra Form. It proved to be a smart move in various occasions.

Any H station would house more than permits and other holofiles. You got trading stations, living complexes and many services for Hermia and public usage.

This of course relied on your Class Permit, yours was just above Non Hermia/slaves/others.

"Hello?"

"Three Suns greets you, Cassidy, I am near block 12-463 in Upper Etaly. I can't thank you enough for your contribution to our little project. I found a perfect spot to set a private lab for the project...

"In upper Etaly?" This was indeed a surprise; Etaly was more crammed than a tower city.

"Not one but three! Different sizes...and different prices..." you knew what you have signed for. You were in fact richer than the him which was ironic for a low class miner like yourself.

"How much?" you asked.

"10 for the smallest, 25 for the biggest, 15 for the so-so. Your choice."

You have 25,000 Orin at your disposal. 10,000 must go for Cyrobed each month.

"Take care Lobar"

You had an urge to enter the H Station's trading areas but you had other things to do, you wanted to go back to Spane to check on Maal.

You...hated to see her like this, broken and frozen. That wasn't the Maal you knew, If that disease was a person, Maal would wrestle him down and kick the living shit out of him.

Lobar gave her less than two years before the same disease that almost drove his species to extinction would end the life of your mother.

Speaking of which today was 24th of June, 22901 the same day your biological 'mother' died. You didn't know whether to visit her grave or not.

This particular stage of your past....It was painful. The more you recall your 'mother' the more memories of negligence would blight your heart.

This women has no place in your heart. She would spend all the Orin she had on Zexernet instead of you. Maal took care of you, she did what Joan wouldn't do in a million years. She meant nothing to you.

This surge of decisiveness granted you some relief; you had a bitter past, but if anything, it would incite you to have a better future for both yourself and Maal.

You went to the Hangar, with bits of these thoughts still lingering inside your mind. The regulation crew was still looking for the tiniest of dirt on your Valkarii . You made sure to hide any clue of Maal's unauthorized mining trips for this particular moment.

Zamon, Maal's and your trusty A.I was assuring the crew in his usual formal tone "Gentlemen, The Valkarii is a fine ship, one that will never wrong Hermia domain. How many times do i have to repeat myself?"

"Finally, you are here," the head of the regulation crew approached you, she was a bit older than you. Her subordinates were still looking for something "Cassidy Von Moor, right?"

"Von Maur." you corrected her.

"Right, Your Class x-221 Rockbullia is spotless. There is one problem though." She pointed at the Zamon E.Y.E who wasn't fond of folks poking around [Small hovering version of Zamon] "You A.I, while legal, is not registered on any list of ship AI, we can't scan it for any non authorized data. Care to explain?"

>He is a prototype. it was bought from the Yellow market in Upper Etaly. I took....my mother a lot of work to fix it. You won't find him anywhere

"Yeah but-" She didn't have much of a chance against you; she looked somewhat and inexperienced. She did have the authority but she didn't know how to use it. Same went for her subordinates.

You were lucky for the second time this day. You left the crew outside as you were preparing for launch. They left the scene in defeat.

"HT, Valkarii ready at Runway 95"

"Affirmative, You are good to go, Take off in five. safe travels, Citizen.

You ship had to pass a couple of checkpoints before release. It was understandable that Hermia Security would be tight; the last war between them and Fonta may federations have made H stations more paranoid courtesy to the simultaneous detonation of 6 H stations across their domain.

"Good Job Cass! Efficient just like Mamma Maal." You knew that Zamon disliked being scanned . Truth was, he never hid anything Malicious. His personality matrix was quite something according to Maal. To him, it was his personal privacy.

"Thanks Zamon, hey can you show me a full report on the ship, what we have and so on?"

Ship

Class x-221 Rockbullia ship nicknamed 'Valkarii'

Very basic and outdated mining ship. Bulky, slow to steer and maneuver but has lots of space for cargo
.
The Valkarii has:

-Diod Werrium Stallion [power Core/Engine for very sublight travels, this duality and the volatile nature of Werrium makes it very dangerous]
-Diod Oxtar Wingman [very basic thrusters for maneuvering looming threats like a large asteroid, tends to overheat quickly]
-Diod Hawkeye SS [Very basic, somewhat inaccurate scanning system]
-Farra 24-A [Mechanical arm for grabbing objects]
-Farra 14-Z [Very basic shield system, for small debris only]
-Zamon AI ver 0.8 [An outdated AI, will handle the ship among other functions]
-Zamon E.Y.E [Same AI but in a small bot to aid the miner outside of the ship, can be a companion among other things]
-Zamon C.U.L.L [Autonomic container for hauling miners back to the ship with 500 kg max load, can gather scattered and fine mineral with 5 delicate extensions]
-3000 KG container [Caution: no special containers for radioactive materials and the like]

Cassidy has:

-MK Elio Qana suit [12 Hour life support, Translator, basic insulator/filter from heat/radiation and so on, direct connection with the Valkarii and other misc installments. MOD capabilities: Moderate, small power supply but it can be solar powered as well.]
-2 Xoton pickaxe [very basic mining tool, can mine through most minerals]
-1 Werrium tribot [after setting the tribot, it can be used to blast through a certain thickness of sturdy minerals. caution is advised due to the volatile nature of this mining tool, can also be used as a non authorized weapon]
-Farra 82-T [MOD: miniature arm strapped on the back of Cassidy's suit]
-Moc Neuron Wrangler [MOD: Sends a calibrated electric impulse on Yegizognal minerals (Werrium, Oblos, zaginum...etc) to stabilize and keep them from deteriorating, can be used as a non authorized weapon]
-Terr 211-0 pkasma pistol [only Authorized weapon to use, short range, slow rate of fire but can save one's life. Every single shot is registered at Hermia station of the current system. A report sent to any Hermia station is expected within one week]

With your Lindoux, You surfed through the news, Maal's succumb happened only last week, you were too busy to follow anything new.

You were perturbed by the sharp rise in some of the minerals mainly

Terrian Vultar second pact: 40% of any radioactive hauling

Nebulian Third 'preservation' act: 30% of any Nebulian hauling (Liquid gas, gas, others)

TVEE DCMP-01: 20% on any decompressed hauling

TVEE QRYS-06: 20% on any Qrysallized hauling

those were some sharp rises in percentages. There were more hints about more new polices.

i think that is enough for today. A slow start, yes but more will come.

What do you think of Space Miner quest so far?
>>
>>521097
It's looking promising so far, though if we're a miner that has to navigate the vagaries of a volatile market, then we need to be as good an accountant, economist, and political observer as we are a miner and spacer.

We need to know what metals will sell high, what tariffs and taxes we'll have to contend with, and the relative dangers and overcrowding of certain mining spots.
And it does seem like we'll have to consider signing on as a freelancer with a private firm, or working directly for the government.
>>
"Vul-D. Haven't been there in a while, I might even meet a certain Vulsian if i am lucky. "

You had it coming, your AI companion huffed "Oh, that guy. He is bad influence, Cass. Mama Maal didn't like him and so am i. This 'man' reeks of death. In the Fonta May conflict, he might have killed innocent-"

"Vamon...." you stared at his E.Y.E "I am not a little girl. Beside, he is one of us, an independent miner crushing rocks for a living. He didn't earn an Oblos ring for nothing."

Vamon swallowed his words, he sounded a bit grumpy "Setting course for Vul-D, We are running through our 10th Werrium Strip we might need to replenish them soon."

"Thanks Zamon."

You left the rather small cockpit, you had a habit on check on the quieter parts of Valkarii out of paranoia. A Entu parasite has made it on board according to Maal. It crept on her like one of these Terrian old movies. This parasite would paralyze its victim and then it would burrow inside one's chest.

Maal had sent a distress call minutes before the parasite would show itself. The Hermia Distress Force or HDF arrived just on time thankfully. This was why Maal bought Zamon in the first place.

It was clear.

You sighed in relief. It was time for a warm bath. Of course, you preferred the bath tub back in your apartment but this one would do just fine

You took off your clean leather outfit after filling the tub with warm water.

'Luna, Oh my heart~
White, Smooth and Stark
I see you in my dream
Shining like a beam
Of Love~
Of Love~
Luna, Oh my dove~
Fly me to your clove~'

There was a certain charm about this song, it was almost mandatory to listen to it while bathing. It was a shame that Tomay White , the singer, died in one of those H station bombings.

Relaxation overwhelmed you, for a second, the world was gone. You left the tub, it was time to put on some clothes. You had work to do.

You stared at yourself in the mirror, your short red hair was a bit messy. It made a nice composure with your milky skin. You wished you could say the same about freckles plaguing your petit nose in a butterfly pattern.

You closed the link and your eyes; you were too relaxed to give attention to anything.

You had a dreamless sleep for a couple of hours. Zamon didn't need to wake you up, Your Valkarii was approaching the Toxic planet of Vulse and its two moons.

"Zamon, can you show me Vul-D scan?" your AI was confused but he complied anyways
_______________________________________

Vul-D

General info: Small moon of Planet Vulse, Vul-D have lost two large chunks in an unrecorded event.

Gravity: Low

Atmosphere: !TOXIC! mainly due to Vulse's cloud seeping through Vul-D poor atmosphere which contains mainly Rythyl Tri-Robane . Inhalation for more than 5 minutes will burn one's lungs and respiratory tracts. [Suit resistance- Barely Adequate]

Radiation: Moderate [Suit resistance- Barely Adequate]

Atmospheric pressure: Low

Temperature: -140°C----> -270°C [Suit resistance Barely-Adequate]

Geography/Geology:Flat plains with few craters, above its equator, Frozen elements of the moon's core have surfaced from a large fissure spanning across hundreds of Kilometers with 'pools' branching at random.

Dry solid Plasium [ζ]* makes 82% of Vul-D which forms Plaso-bi-Robane [ζ] on the surface as reaction to the toxic cloud. The large two craters contains Plaso-Silicate [ζ] and Tetra Plasosilicorobane [ε]

The frozen Fissure contains Pure Salktium [ε]

'Robane Clouds' contain solid Rythyl Di-Robane [ζ]

-There is no restriction in mining on Vul-D

-The Vul Phenomenon is only observable on Vul-D and Vul-A. In short, it is a periodic yet sharp decline in temperature for 1 hour every 10 hours. This rapid decline will form Robane Clouds within its poor atmosphere.

-On rare occasions, Robane Clouds would change its state from solid into liquid [ Rythyorobane complex [δ] ]. Said Liquid has strong caustic and corrosive properties.

-According to Hermia-Vulsian pact. Hermia is allowed to construct one large facility with unknown purpose on each moon. Approach its Airspace or its parameters will result force The Hermia forces stationed there to use Lethal force.

Salktium

TVEE Category: ε

TVEE no.: #076

Radioactive: Yes - High

Density: High High

Half life: 48-60 hours outside of specialized container [Moc Neuron Wrangler can increase its life span to up 200 hours in specialized container- 50 in normal container] it will deteriorate to Oxidized or Carbonized Salktitate

State: Solid-Amorphous Solid

General info: Salktium is a solid Glass-like element, Found mainly as a core for small planets/moons. It Amorphous state has less stability than it normal solid state, Due to its outstanding High melting point, it is used as a power core for Military weapons that tends to overheat quickly. Its inert nature make it an excellent but expensive insulator . There is no record about Salktium in liquid or gaseous state. Its remarkable half life something as well. When its half life ends, it loses its inert properties reacting with Oxygen or carbon instead of transforming into another element. Either by products are useful in Construction materials

Tetra Plasosilicorobane

TVEE Category: ε

TVEE no.: #210

Radioactive: No

Density: Low

State: Solid

General info: Tetra Plasosilicorobane is a complex formed under extreme pressure and heat. Few labs could imitate the same pressure and heat from an impacted meteor. They have a peculiar plateau-like formation with one Large 'Mother' plateau (usually the crater ring) and daughter plateaus which decompress themselves over time. Special tools are required to slice those daughter plateau as one piece which can be used in certain Megaelectronic industries industries , using sheer force or any other means will break the plateau into small sand-like particles, It can be used as a catalyst in some fields of medicine .

Zamon landed perfectly on this lifeless moon. Your scanners indicated that the Vul phenomenon was in full effect.

Took you about half an hour to prepare everything, there was no need to be in a rush; There were enough rocks for everyone.

With E.Y.E, C.U.L.L , your tools and weapon, you hated mining on flat terrain; 12 hours of hunched mining would break your back.

Green clouds were blocking this system's sun, you wouldn't rely on renewing your suit's power that way. You were freezing outside, the thermal insulators in your suit had a limit.

2 Shots----> 1 Werrium strip
>>
>>522191
>Farra 93-T required
Well, that would have been nice to know before we landed here.

Fuck, we'll need to go to the Mother Plateau, since we can't get anything from the daughters.

How much does a Werrium strip cost, and how much money do we get per Kg of Tetra Plasosilicorobane?
Because if we can't make back the cost of Werrium by selling the ore, there's no point in using the Tribot and we'll have to do this by hand.
>>
>>522247
we can still get Tetra Plasosilicorobane via or pickaxe or our tribot but it will be scattered (gravel like) not one single daughter plateau. The gravel price is way lower than plateau price.

or like you said we can go for the mother plateau , the end result would be the same- gravel.

Each Strip costs roughly ~500 Orin.
Prices are highly subjected to the buyers and the demand.

Rough price for 100 Kg of Tetra Plasosilicorobane (gravel)= ~400 Orin

Rough price for 100 Kg of Tetra Plasosilicorobane (Plateau)= ~1600 Orin

>2 shots = 200kg gravel minimum = 800 Orin
>2 shots = 1 strip = ~500 Orin
>net minimum profit = 300 Orin
Man, that's a tiny margin. And it's not including the taxes and tariffs we need to pay.
That's what we get for coming out here unprepared and without doing our homework on what equipment we need to mine the different ores.

Let's use up 2 strips for 4 shots of the Tribot.
Then we'll Work with the Pickaxe for 2 hours, rest for 1 hour, then work 2 hours again.
Go back to our ship with 2 hours of life-support to spare, just in case something happens and we're out longer than anticipated.
>>
>>522278
Full support for this plan, we really need to plan more for next mining trip.
>>
>>522278
You took it real slow, Due to lower gravity, you had to exert more effort with each swing.

Since Werrium is Highly volatile , you took extreme care in adjusting the shots. You gave your tribot enough time for each cool down. It was inaccurate, blasting through random spots but it did its Job

You worked for about seven hours with three hours in between those long seven hours. It was a right call for what seemed to be a waste at first. Bitter weather, Flat terrian, Low gravity...they had their weight.

Zamon was a perfect companion and a friend, his C.U.L.L was picking every bit of gravel was its delicate arms. he gave you a quick report about the current haul

As you were taking off, A small ship twirled above your head succumbing to the ground in the horizon, It sustained heavy damage from a smaller fighter Class Cizz-Bee 'Loyld'

Favorite choice for Pirates.

You couldn't see what was happening precisely from this distance but whoever was on the trading ship fired a Boshkov Bouquet shutting down the fighter's engine.

The pirate ship dropped like a fly close to the trading ship. You could see an exchange of pkasma and Unionized Laser.

" I-013, Do you read? This is Cassidy Von Maur, just hold them off till i get there" You got no reply, you only heard shots flying.

Zamon wanted to object but he knew he wouldn't sway you out of this. You flew as low as possible. Your heart was racing; you were running towards what could be your death.

"Spotted them Cass!" Zamon used the basic thermal scan to identify the pirates. The thermal hue of the fire on the trader's ship was obscuring the state of the trader.

" A Taupvi and a human!" Taupvi have natural thick armour, you doubt your petty pistol could do anything to him. However, their small Emergency suits would be thin with little protection.

The element of surprise was out of the question. Zamon took control of the Valkarii, he used his C.U.L.L to drop you with relative safety. It also functioned as a cover.

"Mail! right! right!" the human shouted as he spotted your ship hovering around the scene, The Taupvi took a couple of pot shots with his Pkasma rifle but Valkarii has one thick armour. Big and Bulky.

The trader was pinning down the human with his unionized laser weapon. The moment you peek out of the C.U.L.L , a Pkasma shot whizzed about your helmet.

Keep in mind that any Pkasma pistol shot must be reported in H station within a week.

What are justifiable reasons for using plasma weapons and what are the consequences if missed used in the eye of the law. Also, what weak areas can we see on there ship. Maybe we can strike at some fuel or oxygen tank to cause an explosion or something.
>>
>>522483
>>522494
Maybe you should have asked these questions before jumping into the firefight?

Also, the pirate ship is already crashed due to getting hit by missiles. You think a pistol is going to do anything to a ship hull?
>>
>>522494
And lose all that delicious loot they have?

We just need to damage their space suits and we got them...of course while not dying in progress I hope.
>>
>>522477
Are the pirates in range of the wrangler?
>>
>>522483
The Moc Neuron Wrangler Sends a calibrated electric impulse, which is an amplified and more lethal version of taser if it is intended to be used as a weapon. its range is on par with the pistol.

The Tribot is too heavy and dangerous to be used as a peusdo hand cannon in this situation. For mining purposes, It must be set first.

>>522494
The Pkasma pistol is more Lethal, can puncture the EM suit better. However the wrangler can fry some systems in the EM suit, it might even incapacitate the target.

The fighter's engine was momentarily shut downed via the bouquet. Since the terrain is already flat, the pirate ship have suffered minimal damage to its hull.

Your C.U.L.L have rammed the pirate at full speed, you shot him with your Wrangler square in the helmet.

!! Life support Less than one hour !!

The protective glass of the EM suit was scattered in the process. The Taupvi grasped for air as his lungs were burning from the inside courtesy to Vulse's lethal clouds. His limbs were twitching and struggling to move but they seemed to be paralyzed.

You couldn't watch someone die like that- a painful, slow death. You looked the other way. You had a feeling that after the adrenaline would wear off , Guilt would drown your thoughts.

The human pirate was rendered headless with a clean shot; he underestimated his opponent, he thought he was just some easy mark.

He was a smuggler

Crates of untraced weapons were revealed to the world, they were among other harmless crates of foods and other miscellaneous stuff. The fire was slowly subsiding as a maintenance bot had crawled out of its container just to do its job.

The trader was no human, he didn't show on the thermal scan because he wasn't emitting any. He was a Keur

A race was a wrong term, They were more of a ruthless brand of Old Machines. None knew about their creator, not even them. Hermia, Fonta May and even the Doslok respected their neutrality in any conflict. They would never take any side in any war. They trade instead in their homeworld which could match stars in size. Few like this one, chose to live outside of his homeworld. Fewer should to forsake their pacifist way of their lives.

Any Keur could be a ruthless, killing machine literally. They could survive under the harshest of conditions without any suit. Some can Mod themselves with weapon should he/she want.

The Keur pointed his rifle towards you, his right eye was blasted off and yet he didn't wince....they weren't programmed to feel pain

You weren't going to put your life in the hands of a murderer, a smuggler. Not today.

You took a shot with your wrangler. despite his warning. it hit him square in the chest. He had to return fire, his shot nicked through your right shoulder.

!! Breach spotted !!

The Keur was momentarily paralyzed, unlike you, he didn't need to breathe.

You ignore the wound pulsating in your shoulder. However, you started to cough, it was burning like coal down your throat. Your eyes started to water, every blink carried spikes of pain.

Something swooped you, you were losing your surroundings in a bloody blur. Echoes of Pkasma shots echoed in the air. and that was it.

Your eyes kept flickering as you were gaining your conscious . You were back in The Valkarii, on a portable bed that wasn't yours.

"Cass! How can you be so...so stu-" Zamon's Eye hovered wildly around you. You found a medic, a young blonde man in his thirties with a reassuring smile along with two charming blue eyes. He wore a light grey outfit.

HDF. Of course.

He was administering some cold biogel to your shoulder "Please, give her some space." the Medic demanded gently. Zamon buzzed off, in hindsight, you should have listened to him.

"Your wound should heal in a couple of days. Please take this oral Tiemephazine for two weeks, it should heal your throat. You should thank your AI. He pulled in the ship and called us." Hermia, despite obscene taxes, provided everyone under its domain with high quality.

The medic's smile faded when heavy footsteps echoed on Valkarii's metal floor. Fully armored HDF, Five of them all in grey.

"Ninn, can you excuse us for a moment?" A hoarse voice for a woman command the medic. He nodded before leaving.

"Ma'am, This is Officer Maria Pivali, head of Vulsian HDF-5. We recived a distress call five hours ago from your....friend. We have a couple of questions to ask."

You carefully explained everything what happened without an ounce of lies. The thuds of your heart grew stronger with each second; Maria didn't react, She kept listening in silence.

You took a deep breath after explaining everything. Maria gave the officers a simple glare, they too left the room in silence.

She stood, exposing her face to you, burnt and deformed "You see this Ma'am? this is what i got by trying to act like i am some Old flick Rambo. I see this shitface everyday to remind myself of my mistakes. Thanks to you, a dangerous Keur smuggler has escaped. One that we have no records for. You are more than lucky; i will list your murder as an act of self defense for my sake. The investigation would be a lot more easier with lesser strands, Besides none would care for that lowlife. "

Maria leaned towards your face whispering soft words to your ears "You should have run like a little girl."

Maria closed her helmet "Your record is clean, your cargo is clean. So i will leave you with a simple warning. The next time something like this happen, you know who you gonna call."

The Officer left the room, their footstep soon faded as they were making their way out of your ship. Your voice wasn't the same, a bit raspy. You shoulder hurt like hell even with the biogel.

At least they left you a new bed.

Choosing a destination and hoping for the best is stupid, and I don't know why you're pushing us to do something that is obviously dumb and that an experienced miner would scoff at.

When it came to selling there were a couple of ways to sell your hauling:

-Selling it directly to any Hermia's mining company: to Hermia itself. Its prices are fixed regardless of the demand/other factors. No need for selling your hauling in batches.

-Selling it to Non Hermia buyers: In any H station, Various companies will buy any hauling via a TVEE square, the prices will go up and down according to the demand (Note: Smaller companies might want X in 10 Kg while bigger companies will only buy in 100kg or even 1000kg batches)

-Yellow Market: A large vacant area on Terr (and some habitable planets) where one would park one's ship, wait for a buyer. The two would negotiate for a fair price with Hermia's prices being the reference. Of course, one would have to pay a small fee to park at the first place.

those are the legal methods, however, there are other methods....

Eventually, We will have to mine in another destinations. I wanted to flesh out this destination, that's it. Which will take more time if i intended to do in the middle of the quest. That's why i save some time by writing these posts before the start of the actual request.

Cassidy , while not a master of her trade, is not inexperienced. She picked a few things from Maal.

>>526457
>I am not pushing anyone, every choice is made by the players not me
Yeah, but doing something like asking people to choose a destination without giving people any information about those destinations, what did you expect to happen?
That we'd choose, say, E-131? You'd flesh it out, and we'd go to it, and then we'd get hit with the data dump after we've arrived and find out that we're missing the equipment we need to actually make the trip profitable?
Or we get there and find out that it only has materials that we would have a hard time collecting, transporting, or selling.
Are you going to change what the destination has depending on what we're looking for? Then why ask us for the destination, if the destination is mutable?

>Ask for the current ups and downs in demand
We need to know if our ore is in demand or not.
If it is, then chancing the square is a reasonable gamble to take.
If it isn't, then dumping it to Hermia makes the best economic sense.

Either way, we need money before we can get our suit repaired, and we need to put away the 10,000 Orin we have right now for the monthly payment that needs to go to keep Maal in her cryobed.

We have 1320 kg of the stuff.
Sell 1000 kg to Darmah Bio labs in the TVEE square, and then offload the remaining 300 kg to HMC.

Werrium and other power-related supplies had many sellers in H.Qiel but you always preferred to speak with the childish Nayro , Darb Nelee.

Nayro in general were a dwarf race of Mammalian nature, two distinct features of said race (aside from their short stature) were their Bioluminescent skin and pseudo-piscean features.

Most of them were childish in nature because their brain would stop to develop at a certain age for 90% of the population.

"Casssy!" the Nayro squealed in her shop the moment she saw you.

Hey Darb, got some Werrium strips?

The Nayro arched a teeth-full smile. They didn't like to exchange more words very often. She showed you her stock

Are the strips used in things other than just our tripod and ship power core?

Do we need special equipment for mining and transporting Plaso-Silicate grains?
It's currently selling at 9x the base value, so we should try to take advantage of it while we can.

Maal's friend ought to patch your suit. You bought 10 strips for 4000 Orin.

Darb was hopping on the floor for a (slimy) kiss on the cheek. You had to comply with a gentle smile. you wished you brought some sweets with you, maybe next time.

Rex n Bu were your choice for anything related to Suits,Emergency suit and even powerful exosuits.

The human twins were busy dealing with some customers.

You waited for a while before the dyad were free. Both of them seemed to have replaced some of their older augmentation. Bu and Rex were more metal than flesh by now.

"Rex, Bu..."

"Maal's kid paying us a visit. Sorry about...you know." Rex had a soft spot for Maal. His raspy voice didn't convey his feelings "What can i do for ya, Kid?"

Plaso-Silicate

TVEE Category: ζ

TVEE no.: #063

Radioactive: No

Density: Very High

State: Liquid - Solid [Grain]

Scanned on: Vul-A

General Info: A strange combination between Silicon and Plasium without the need of another element [Robane in most cases]. It had very thick consistency as a liquid which can be used in certain fields of medicine . With very high freezing/melting point. Several Pulses of Radiation is only capable of shrinking it in size to form grains It would be later used as a Filler or a filler in some construction materials

[Any Pulsating Rad device is required to turn it to grain]

"Life is short, Kid. You don't wanna wind up like uncle Rex or Bu. Play it safe." you didn't have to part your lips. Rex knew what happened the moment you showed him your suit.

The price tags around you started from 20000 and upwards, you didn't feel like asking for something you didn't have the Orin for.

Bu installed various patches to match each layer with a nanoscope. A simple hole might be the end of you.

"There. That will be six more months for this suit, you might wanna buy something later kid."

Patching the suit was something trivial to the twins, they would let it slip by;300-500 Orins was nothing. Beside you were their 'kid' so to speak.

"Thanks Rex, by the way, someone by sent message to Maal's Lindolink. do you know someone called Horkt- "

Bu hushed you with his last fleshy finger, Both seemed to be struck by some bad memories "Shushit...Yeah, Listen Kid. The Fucking snake was and still a crook. Left both of us for dead in one of his 'gigs'. Last time i heard of him was when he broke into a Databank in Doslok five years ago by digging his way right under their tight security measures . Minutes later, HDF have swarmed the twin's shop. They never really went anywhere without a group of five or more.

They had a Reader , a specialized person who can do pretty much anything with a Lindolink and other Lindo products. The name sounded silly but so did a lot of terms.

This reader tapped into your Linodlink, it took him a couple of minutes before tracking the other Lindolink which sent this message. They didn't tell you where exactly but they were glad of what they have got.

A Bulky Taupvi have exposed his helmet "Ma'am this is Officer Babo Bolinesy of head of section #00532 in H station Qiel. I would like to thank you for submitting this tip. 5000 Orin will be transferred to your account. Have a nice one ma'am.

The officers soon dispersed. For once, you did something right you were proud of without risking yourself. Rex and Bu were closing their shop like other shops in TVEE square. The twins wished you the best of luck.

And waste our money when we need it on new equipment, the lab, and the monthly payments to keep Maal in cryostasis?
I think not.
We were lucky to have made a profit of 4500 Orin on our last job, and it would have been only 4000 if we had to get our suit patched at a place that wouldn't do it for free because the owners like us.

This suit is only good for one 12-hour excursion before needing a day of maintenance in order to not be worn out, and it'll still only last 6 months before we need a new one.
And unless we get a shit suit like the one we have now, we're looking at 20,000 Orin as the starting price.

The Valkarii would do just fine. You would alternate between your old and new bed. You had some fleeting thoughts about spend some Orin to spoil yourself a bit in any club but you had more important task ahead. Maal would tight her spending if she was in your place.

The moment you stepped into the Valkarii, Paranoia struck you; you felt like someone or something was inside your ship. You called Zamon. Thankfully, he was fine.

You grabbed your Pkasma pistol(you weren't authorized to carry it outside of your ship in any H station. And carefully checked every nook and cranny.

Nothing.

Zamon scanned the ship as well to give you a sense of security. Perhaps you were just hearing things. It happened before, you wished you could omit this irrational fear of having an Entu parasite jumping on your back out of the sudden.

Sadly you didn't have friends like Rex, Bu or Darb when it came to MODS or equipment or new ships. You had to choose the first shop you could find.

Keurs are not just robots. they are complex old Machines.

No, Keurs are made out an indigenous metal only found in their homeworld. With their ways to keep their technologies to themselves and with the little number of Keurian corpse claimed by Hermia domain, Fonta May or the Doslok, there is little Anti-Keurian technology exploring this area might entice a war between the offending empire and their 'race'.

One of the virtues of Tollqa system was its relative clear space; Maal told you stories about system with endless debris and asteroids clogging up traditional sublight travels. In some systems, It was so severe that wormholes were the sole method of traveling to planet of said system.

You had a lot of things in mind.

For one, you had to check on Maal. The hefty payment was always at the fifth of each month . There was a three day limit before the patient would get 'discharged'. This was a death warrant to Maal.

You still had to speak with Lobar Ixa, he said it was urgent. You trusted this man; he was working for both Maal and his species.

The last but not least thought you had on your mind was installing a security system on the Valkarii. Like most mining ships, Installing any weapon was outlawed by the domain. you got that but at least if an intruder like that damn parasite made its way inside your ship, you wanted to feel safe.

This was, as expected, an expensive installment. Your financial situation wasn't stable at the moment.

A couple of hours separated you from Vul-A, you have already spotted some mining ships flocking to your destination. Not good.

Vul-A

General info: Bigger moon of Planet Vulse, Vul-A was scarred by a giant Werrium Meteor in an unrecorded event

Size: Small

Gravity: Low

Atmosphere: !TOXIC! due to Vulse's cloud seeping through Vul-A poor atmosphere which contains Rythyl Tri-Robane . Inhalation for more than 5 minutes will burn one's lungs and respiratory tracts. [Suit resistance- Barely Adequate]

Radiation: Low [Suit resistance- Adequate]

Atmospheric pressure: Low

Temperature: -90°C----> -150°C [Suit resistance Adequate]

Geography/Geology: Rough, small and irregular hills covers most of the moon. Rest are plain terrains. Shards to Werrium (some may reach 40m in height) are mainly found below the equator. Few craters are found as well with one large and distinct crater 'The eye of Oblos'. There are several 'pores' across the moon . certain pools of Iron are spewn from the molten core via these pores. 'Rivers' of Plaso-silicate are found among a concentration of craters above the equator. This river ends in the lowest depression of Vul-A.

Dry solid Plasium [ζ]* makes 75% of Vul-D which forms Plaso-bi-Robane [ζ] on the surface as reaction to the toxic cloud. All the craters contain Plaso-BiSilicate [ζ] and Tetra Plasosilicorobane [ε]

Plaso-Silicate [ζ] can be found among the NW craters.

Pure Oblos [γ] can be found in the Eye of Oblos

Pure Iron [Isotope-24] [ζ] can be found around some pores.

Pure Werrium Deposits [ζ] can be seen from afar as gigantic towers, possible trace of Maliduim Biwerriate [δ] [Isotope-16]

[More potent scanning system is required to scan for certain metals/minerals]

Flora: None

Fauna: None

Misc:
-There is no restriction in mining on Vul-D

-The Vul Phenomenon is only observable on Vul-D and Vul-A. In short, it is a periodic yet sharp decline in temperature for 1 hour every 10 hours. No Robane clouds are found in Vul-A

-According to Hermia-Vulsian pact. Hermia is allowed to construct one large facility with unknown purpose on each moon. Approach its Airspace or its parameters will result force The Hermia forces stationed there to use Lethal force.

Also if the economy is projected to do well then construction should go up, meaning a rise in construction materials.

We also need to keep up to date on police activity and how that will affect pirate activity.

This is what it means to be an independent miner.

we are gunning for the Plaso-silicate [green/grey river] since it has the highest market value.

In our current situation, every Ore/mineral is obtainable but:

Oblos, the most potent member of Yegizognal minerals, highly radioactive and it will interfere with various systems in one's suit. Even with the best insulation, One can not mine Oblos for more than 30 minutes.

Maliduim Biwerriate: Werrium mining is a painful and slow progress, Since it is volatile, it might explode in your face at the wrong swing. Maliduim Biwerriate is usually found deep in the heart of Werrium deposits, it is highly unstable and rare, requires more delicate mining tools rather than a pickaxe.

They promise those who can't afford the six figure price to lessen it to a manageable one once a cheaper but safe alternative for the serum can be found."

You immediately thought about Keshuli, The Vulsian that Zamon wasn't fond of. Poor man, you only saw his daughter once in his Lindoux, she looked so...frail. You wondered how would he cope this what could save his daughter from her weak immunity system.

You had an urge to sleep. You were starting to like your new bed. Time for a shuteye.

.

You snapped out of your vague dream in a sudden. You didn't know why you kneejerked like this; none was in you private room. It was quiet. Zamon was silently steering the Valkaari

You dispelled your thoughts for a moment. Time to get up.

The Valkaari was swimming in Vul-A toxic atmosphere. A big frown was drawn on your face as your scan showed multiple ships already sucking the goods. All the ships landed near the so called river. Dozens belonged to private companies while others were just like you.

You landed in a non crowded area. Time to earn some Orin. Hauling grains might be time consuming though.

[Direct Sunlight Available, Possible ~1-3 extra hours]
[Available for mining: Plaso-Sillicate]

>>
>>529268
2 hours mining, 30 minute break, then back to mining.
Stick with the safe setting; we can't afford another suit repair or replacement of our equipment, not when we barely have enough money to pay for a month's time for Maal.
>>
>>529297
We are using a device which emits powerful gamma radiation which will bombard Plaso-silicate atom. This will force it to change its state from liquid to solid as feasible temperature doesn't affect it at all.

Hazardous Pulse will amplify the radius and the intensity, it is less controlled and might put us in its radius.

Not exactly.

Her suit was incinerated due to fear of potential contagious properties of this unknown disease. Zamon had no memories of her last trip, something was disturbing his and some of the ship's function on this planet.

You had your fill.

Plaso silicate was already hard to haul due to its size. While you used the normal pulse on the Rapulse, It made you feel noxious after continuous usage throughout these two days..

As you were preparing your ship for take off, a familiar ship landed nearby.

Green strip, Small and Slick. That was a Leechstar Vulssue . Perfect for Asteroid mining. One that belonged to a certain Vulsian.
Vulsians were pretty close to humans, they had almost the say composure as human with three distinct features: Light greenish skin, Highly compacted rib cage two glowing glands at the base of the neck, they acted as a filter to all the Robane and Non Robane toxins in their world. They were genetically compatible to humans but Immunity was always the price for Human-Vulsian hybirds (and other interspecies for that matter). It came with different variations; from general malaise to straight stillbrith.

Wyndol was in between.

Her immunity began to deteriorate as of late. Only this six figure serum would save her soul. How Ironic you thought; So different you and him but so similar at the same time.

Of course you had to delay your take off, you wanted to say hi at least to Keshuli.

"Rough day for finding a spot, eh?" you sent him a message.

"Could be worse, good to see you Cssdy " It was thing in their culture to not to pronounce the equivalent of vowel when speaking the opposite sex. These precious vowels were only saved for one's beloved.

The Valkaari was obviously bigger than his ship but smaller ships tend to have better maneuverability. Something essential for Asteroid mining.

There was no need in talking outside in the open. You invited him over in your Valkarii. You knew he was a bit...uncomfortable with someone entering his ship.

Heavy footsteps accompanied his arrival. Zamon chose to occupy himself while he was on the Valkaari.

Keshuli was once a member of H.T.R an independent military sect serving the domain. He retained some perks after ending his ties with them, like advanced mining gears and the authorization to carry more than one actual weapon. He could have been able to kill the smuggler if he were in your shoes.

Keshuli took off his helmet, He had no shame in showing his scarred face. He lost a good chunk of his face and his right limbs in a bombing orchestrated by Fonta May 'sympathizers' in the recent conflict.

You talked for a bit, He was serious as always, every word felt like a brick even if that wasn't his intention. He was taking his daughter's problem very seriously. He excused you, thanking for this little chat.

You wished the best for him.

Time to take off.

Lobar said that it's urgent that we speak with him, face to face.
Also, our suit wasn't doing enough to protect us from the radiation our mining tool generates; we were starting to experience the first stages of radiation poisoning.
This is what happens when we skimp on a good suit and get one that's barely adequate.

The trip back to H. Qiel was mundane, your voice was starting to get better though. You inhaled the toxins for less than a minute, any damage it could have sustained was reversible. The biogel was doing its work and yet you felt a strain of sorts when moving the injured shoulder. This could affect your swing. Good thing that your years of mining have toned your body a bit.

It wasn't quite a priority but you felt like you should perform a check up in any Hermia clinic. It was free for the working class. you kept that in mind.

Hermia clinics were one of the most valuable public services in the domain. There was a limit on what they could offer but they provides lots of free services.

Any H station would host a couple of those clinics. Afterall, thousands are residing in H.Qiel. Even Clinics had grey themes, quite depressing.

The clinic in TVEE square had little patients at the moment. You waited for your turn in silence. There wasn't anything to admire in an almost vacant waiting room.

A young human nurse have guided you through a grey hallway to an available room.

"Morning to you, I am Dr. Fastha Tiroem. I will be your doctor for today." An adult Nayro? A rare sight indeed. They do posses a dangerously sharp intelligence...and a lack of sympathy when they actually mature.

Hermia didn't like their monotonous altitude but they just couldn't say no to their services.

"Just a regular check up, My-" you cleared your throat "-head is feeling dizzy, might be related to the Radiation device i have been using for two days ."

"When was the last time you performed a check up?"

"eeeh, two may be three years?" An audible sigh escaped his lips

i forgot about the 10% tax my apologies. I knew there was something missing. won't happen again.

[1/2]
>>
It was a long, uncomfortable procedure. The doctor took some blood sample and analyzed it in an instant. He kept asking a lot of questions about your medical, dental and even mental history while examining you. Now you recalled why you skipped those check ups.

You didn't feel comfortable while he was touching you in this state. At least he was very professional, he wasn't faking it or anything. He injected an orange syringe to you system.

"You are in a good health. Minor radiation poisoning has been neutralized. please give your body some rest, Do you have any questions?"

"Thanks, Dr."

.

Your dizziness was starting to disperse. you were relived to hear that you are alright. You kind of expected a malicious condition at the end of his monotonous words.

>>
>>531529
You contacted the Zeirkt, he was glad that you were going to meet him in person. He wanted you to meet him in his new private lab.

The Valkaari was a slow old ship. Even at full speed, it would take you a couple of hours.

Terr looked so...well, filthy as you were approaching its atmosphere. It started first as a new terraformed planet of high agricultural value but as new PEs came and went, different policies are adapted. The amalgamation of said policies would lead to the current Terr CII.

A ruined Paradise.

One might thought that Upper Etaly had better standards than its lower counterparts. That was a sore mistake; true Upper Etaly didn't have that kind of Slums and its assortment found in Lower Etaly and Spane but it hosted a different kind of filth. One that was organized, One that would cheat the already churned down citizen with false advertisement and other means. Be it Upper or Lower. A Legit honest life wasn't easy to obtain

[1/3]
>>
As a miner, you had lesser worries when it can to leaving/arriving to any Terr planet.

Your Hermia's class-O/9 made any interaction with Etaly and any space port much easier.

You slipped into something more relaxing before leaving the Valkaari. Block 12-463 was in fact close to the Space port, you didn't prefer to take any mean of public transportation; you didn't like to mingle with people.

That and it was nighttime already not exactly safe. You weren't allowed to carry any weapon here either. Upper Etaly was flashier in the night. Various Holo projections covering the starless skies. On your way to the block, A Large Lindoux of the current square your were in was showing some news. "-as been finally caught after years of hiding and using elusive and Illegal ways against the HDF and the ES of the Doslok. The criminal in question was involved in an unspecified number of murders and robberies of high calibers. The Doslok empire is attempting to make negotiations with the domain to acquire this Dangerous criminal."

[2/3]
>>
Finally, you have arrived. it took you about half an hour to reach your destination.

The good doctor was waiting outside, his crystals were shifting to pure white "Three suns greets you, Cassidy. Please come on in."

The 'So-So' Block you acquire was spacious. Laboratory equipment occupied most of the Block. Dozens of Holobooks were opened, some had to be projected on the ceiling due to the lack of space. you only spotted a small bed at the furthest corner and few miscellaneous objects. It was clear that he was dedicated to the project more than what you have expected.

"Sorry about the mess."

"Its good. Now..."

"Right R-right. I pulled you here for a reason. The disease your mother have is in fact an Alphgon ."

"A what?" you inquired.

"A pathogen of unique properties, mostly unknown properties. It surfaced twice- or at least documented twice. The first time, It appeared in my homeworld When a rapid surge of Nebulae washed my homeworld in an unprecedented event. It appeared out of nowhere but its point of origins was from an Infinum planet. A whole planet which was lost in time and space, they would pop out of the sudden in different parts of the galaxy. The last of was in the Doslok empire 682 years ago..."

"Lobar..."

"I am getting there. It killed everyone on in my homeworld. The surviving Zeirkt weren't in the system or near the system. The entire system was forbidden and locked by Hermia as this Nebulae started to dissipate back where it came from... I..I... need to get a sample."

[3/4]
>>
You know, if we hadn't shot at and pissed off that smuggler, he could probably have helped us get into this restricted system and gotten the sample, since he's a machine and wouldn't get infected.
>>
"What?

"I have done everything i can without a need of an actual sample. The reports and other research i have conduct will help but they are useless without a live sample. There are two options for you to choose...."

You remained silent, his crystals where shifting to light blue "The nomenclature and most of the studies on the Alphgon was based on Esto labs in Terr CI, They have acquired a small sample to study it from an isolated dead Mining crew on the edge of my homeworld. Hermia eventually had to cancel any continuation on this research due to its system-threatening nature but I am certain that a live sample is highly secured in one of their vaults. They couldn't discard it. No,no....however, I doubt they would be willing to share it with anyone. We will have to take it by other means..." his voice trailed off. Breaking into a vault of a highly secured medical facility didn't look promising.

"What is our other option?" you already knew the answer for it.

"You Mother. The research done on the Alphgon indicate that death occurred in few minutes. Your Mother survived for more than just minutes. It might be related to our difference in composition. No matter, I will need various samples from your Mother while the Cyrostasis is off... . It would be a lot faster and safer than hiring criminals to break into a vault. We may not know what could happen to your mother in the meantime.

Your choice, Cassidy.:

>Extract a sample from Maal
I don't like it, but it's the best chance of success.
We have to be realistic; the one person who could have helped us break into a high-security vault, we just snitched out and he got caught.

It'll drastically reduce the amount of time that Maal has remaining, but there isn't much other way to do it, and the prospect of trying to break into a vault could get us put in jail and that'll make it impossible for us to keep funding the research.
>>
>>531902
Oh, wait, how possible is it to get a ship into the system? How hard is the lockdown on it?
The Valkaari could go in with just Zamon, and try to get a sample.

>>

>Esto

-need to find a trust worthy crew
-need to be able to afford their pay [which will take X number of days to fulfill]
-this payment will cover a lot of things so it will be grand
-X number of days for the crew to reach the target, make it with the sample, smuggle it back to you
-Sample not 100% guaranteed due to many variables to consider.

You are a critical thinker. Pick your Poison
>>

Rex and Bu know someone for certain. they might make him/her go easy on you when it comes to Orin.

Horktshu would have helped
>>
>>531936
Both choices will result in us losing time.
Esto just means that Lobar is sitting on his ass not able to research anything, while we're stuck paying for the rent, cryostasis fee, and building up the cash needed to pay the crew, and we're still not guaranteed that it'll work, and if the heist gets traced back to us, then we're screwed.

Even with the guarantee of finding a crew through Rex and Bu, and the price coming down because of their influence, it's still not guaranteed that the heist will work.

"I will. The exposure will be at minimal. I promise. Tomorrow, I will head straight to Spane. When i make some progress I shall contact you." The doctor was more content with your decision; Breaking the law in the domain had dire consequences.

"Thanks Lobar." It was getting late. As you were about to leave, Lobar stopped you "Wait! Copy this into your Lindolink, That is the same code for this block and an archive on everything related to the project. Both are technically yours."

.
Lobar wanted you to stay here for the night but you politely refused. Walking back to the Space port wasn't safe at that time. luckily, none chose to show you some Etaly hospitality. Too bad the Yellow Market was in Spane, you should pay it a visit to see all that loose materials you have.

You took a small passage in the Spaceport which lead you to your Valkaari. Other than security, few were around. As you were approaching your Valkaari, you noticed that the front main door was slightly opened

You entered your ship, all the lights were flickering, Zamon's E.Y.E was on the floor attempting to reboot.

"Zamon! Are you alright?!" you reached for your Pkasma pistol pointing it at empty and flickering doors and hallways.

"I....4208@@@@@@@###Ff0n308. I am alright Cass. Someone bolted from your room. I...couldn't-"

"Its alright, Its alright..." you were doing it again, you stormed into your room and fired a precise shot....

You couldn't hold your trigger. Your racing hear started to slow down.Luckily none was there. However a note was on top of your new bed as well as a used Boshkov Bouquet

"Thank you for your Cover and for the ride; Look under the bed I hope the following compensates your trouble."

Seeing this Ludicrous amount of Orin, you regretted firing that pkasma shot; Now the H station would be expecting a report very soon.

After capturing the shot in the wall with your Linolink you wrote a detailed and a professional report in which you discussed your paranoia of Entu Parasite masquerading it as the reason behind your said shot. Your medical file ought to back it up.

Zamon wasn't happy with this Compensation. Still, you had a feeling that the Smuggler (despite shooting him) was grateful; with both ships down, he had no way out of Vul-D. The HDF would have easily capture him. How that Keur managed to hide all this time without being noticed in your Valkarii was beyond you. Sure, The ship was big but size alone was not the only factor here.

Giving 50000 Orin just like that might imply that this smuggler was filthy rich and that his now-confiscated good wouldn't deal that much of a blow-Otherwise, he would have slit your throat while sleeping; he did hide well right under your nose.

Another thing was troubling you; The untraced rifle and the used bouquet which probably fell under the same category. Sure, There were some nooks in the Valkarii to hide these weapons but if found by the HDF, you were in a world of trouble.

You could try to stash them in your apartment or find someplace to dispose of them or perhaps selling them privately in the Yellow Market....or the illegal grey market . you had a lot of options to consider.

[2/?]
>>
This breakout wouldn't have been possible or it at least it would have been harder for the Keur if you had installed better security system.

Suddenly. Both your LindoLink and Lindoux flared up. It was display a message from the HDF not only for you but for the entirety of Terr CII.

"Attention, Citizens of Tollqa system. This is an important announcement. Hermia's Prideship is passing through the system. All space travelling is strictly forbidden for two days. Any Non Authorized flights will be shot down. I repeat, Any Non Authorized flights will be short down. Hermia Defense Force is sending escort teams to escort Working individuals and other personnel to Terr CII or Vulse from other non inhabitable planets/other in the system."

Well shit.
That's two days of time that we can't mine.
Guess we better use that time to research ore prices and calculate profit margins, after taking into account costs of fuel and new equipment.
>>
A Prideship?

Why would the Domain bring the literal pride of their fleet here? Hermia has about Eight of these Monstrosities at stock. The only Logical explanation was for flexing muscles so to speak.

Three H stations would rival the Prideship's size. Even if one would ignore the large escort fleet, The Prideship itself was capable of Planetary Annihilation should it receive orders to do so. The Tollqa System was relatively close to Hermia's border with Fonta May. With the recent conflict taking place in the near past, It wouldn't be much of a surprise for a Prideship to be stationed there.

You haven't heard of any war declaration but It was clear that Hermia was on edge; countless lives were lost in the recent conflict. The domain would not repeat this mistake again.

Not really? They think we're an idiot, the kind that calls 911 only after getting shot in a firefight that we had no business getting involved in.
Did you miss the part where we were held up as an example of the kinds of idiots that the police have to deal with on a regular basis? I'm surprised we haven't shown up on SpaceFark with the Dumbass tag.

Call up Rex and Bu, and ask if they've got a suit they can recommend, something less than 40,000.

You called Uncle Rex and Auntie Bu and asked for a good suit. Rex was a bit surprised but he didn't comment on your sudden increase in Orin.

Talking on the Lindolink wasn't as same as talking face to face. An influx for clients was disturbing the call. Rex briefly summed up the suits which were less than 40,000:

-EM Suit: 20,000
-Suit with full day of power- requires werrium : 30000
-Suit with average capabilities, high MOD capabilities : 35000
-Suit for Submerged mining, Decent resistances: 40000
-Suit with high toxic resistance, low power supply: 40000

Let him know that we do intend to make a purchase, we just needed to know what the prices were, and we're taking this forced 2-day break from work to plan out our future mining strategy.
If he's heard any rumors from customers on the next big score in terms of what ores will go up in price, we'd appreciate knowing.

Take a look at the prices of ores, read the news, try to piece together what the prices will be like.
With all space-travel restricted for the next two days, what minerals will have had their stockpiles heavily depleted and therefore will fetch a high price?
We should consider that when purchasing a suit, and new mining equipment.

to make it short:

>>
Zaginum

TVEE Category: ε

TVEE no.: #474

Radioactive: Yes - Low

Density: Very High

Half life: 18-20 hours outside of specialized container [Moc Neuron Wrangler can increase its life span to up 30 hours in specialized container- 22 in normal container] it will dissipate upon reaching its half half

State: Solid

General info: Zaginum is a peculiar member of Yegizognal minerals. On the molecular level, It has no protons in its nucleus which greatly comprises its stability. Zaginum is found deep in enclosed spaces like underwater caves where it 'strip' any gases nearby to maintain its poor stability. This causes a unique aura of radiation around Zagnium deposits. Every deposit has its unique geosystem with different gasses AND between itself. Mining even the smallest of chunks will destabilized said balance leading to its deterioration. Its strange properties has its purposes in Shutting down almost any ship's functions for a limited time as well as Some experimental research in Augo-body relations . It has little use as a preserver, mainly due to its high price, only Luxurious food companies.
>>
Qarsum

TVEE Category: ζ

TVE no.: #033

Radioactive : No

Density: Very High

State: Solid-Liquid

General Info: A heavy, common Ore which has a lot similarities with Iron. One of its best features is its ability to form and/or Force form alloys with different metals very Important for Construction and various industries.

Radioactive:
>>
>>534904
sorry about second radioactive.
>>
>>534904
>Qarsum
Does Qarsum require any special mining tools, or does the location where it is mined require special suit considerations?

It doesn't have as high a profit margin as Salktium or Plaso-Silicate grains, but it's a common ore, and it might be easier to mine, and we'd only need a normally improved suit to deal with it.
Plaso-Silicate grains will need a suit with much better radiation protection.
Salktium requires special containers that we'll have to buy. There isn't any mention about special mining equipment required, but given where it is found, we'll probably need a suit that's very resistant to radiation and pressure.
>>
>>533944
So...do we want to sell this illegal rifle?

Do we have any shifty contacts locally / any idea how much such a weapon could net us?
>>
>>535954
No no. It doesn't require anything. Most of the common Ores/minerals/other require little preparation. The rarer the Ore. the harder it will be for us to extract it.

>>536127
we could use it.

Maal generally sheltered us from her not-so-legal acts. So we don't have that many contacts.

We could try to sell it in the hush-hush while we are in the yellow market or we can pay some Orin to find where is the grey market (due to its illegal merchandise, it doesn't have a fixed place)

i am going to write our report on Pande. Think of something for Cass to do; we haven't finished the first day
>>
just going somewhere to sell the gun will either get us into prison, killed or sold off into prostitution. let's keep the thing for now. we were scanned several times and nobody found it, is it safe to keep it on the ship?

maybe he hid his "codec frequency" on the weapon, like in metal gear. examine the gun
>>
>>536822
Yeah, I'll back examining the gun.

Also, maybe we should invest in some light smuggling. If they didn't find this rifle in their scan, maybe we can make some money on the side. We just need to mine Maal's databanks for some contacts.
>>
>>536825
>If they didn't find this rifle in their scan
The HDF didn't scan our ship.
The scanning took place before we even left for our first mining mission.

Since we already pissed the examiners off by shutting them down when they wanted to scan Zamon, they're going to be extra anal about searching our ship during the next time around.

Pande

General info: A scorching desert planet with a single moon.

Gravity: Moderate

Atmosphere: !Very Humid! - Suit is not mandatory on this planet. However, Heavy gasses inhaled its atmosphere will precipitate in Non-Vulsian lung over years of exposure. A Pandian Filterator should circumvent this issue. Due to the entrapment of most sun's heat in the atmosphere, Pande's humidity is extremely high. One must be wary of the occasional sandstorms [Suit resistance- barely adequate]

Radiation: None [Suit resistance more than adequate]

Atmospheric pressure: Moderate

Temperature: 50°C---->98°C [Suit resistance: Adequate ]

Geography/Geology: Mostly simple desert plains with different altitudes. Four Mountains are only the prominent elevation on Pande. Two oases/lakes are found at each pole. Every 8-10 years, Pande will be totally submerged with a bubbling ~40 km red liquid [Diluted Moriate]. Two concentration of Flora are found on Pande. they will cover the whole planet in the submerged session. This Flora feeds on native Minerals to survive.

Morium [ζ] makes 92% of the planet, it has different states according to its bonds [Grain-Stone in the mountain- Liquid- Diluted liquid with water]

Pandian Rokksta jungles hosts chunks of Qarsum [ζ]

Gerinii precious stones [ζ] are found deep in the bottom of two Osases lakes

Flora: Few [Danger: None]

Fauna: Few [Danger: Moderate danger ]

Misc:

-There is no restriction in mining on Pande

-Two Species of Fauna [Pandian red Kereekt. Obool Worms] have perfected the art of ambushes. A Merc station [Yellow Manteez] orbiting Pande is offering services as an escort bodyguards

You had to pay about 200 Orin just to reach Spane, pretty expensive but safer means of transportation.

Spane was a bit older than Etaly and so the general state of deterioration was more apparent here. There were little attempts to renovate buildings in Spane. The PE would rather spend Orin on something else apparently.

Your or rather Maal's apartment was in a Block 2E-246-914. A rather shoddy one with the very basics but the best of your memories were forged there.

Much to your demise, the whole area was swarmed with HDF, according to them, they were investigating a possible homicide. Who would have thought that the man who offed himself after winning the lottery resided just below close to your apartment?

Your neighbors whom you and Maal had little interactions with were pestered by the HDF. None was allowed to get in or out without a permission.

.

Dust puffed from the doorlock the moment you opened it. You haven't been there in a while. The place was in its usual mess. You missed your bathtub so much. The moment you were starting to take off your clothes, you heard someone in your room.

You found a Liteis

An amphibious race mainly from Fonta may. Their Camouflaged abilities makes their excellent Infiltrators and assassins to the highest bidders.

"Woah! Woah. Hey Molah listen, just listen okay ?" The Liteis dropped her weapon. You froze in your place at the moment "I know you have a lot of questions. The HDF already know that an assassin was involved, otherwise they wouldn't be here.
We can let the Liteis hide here and then go when the HDF moves on. We were told to be quick about getting our stuff and leaving, so the HDF can't blame us if we "overlook" some things out of place in our hurry to get our luggage and leave, since we're going to be on a long mining mission.

This way, neither of us have to deal with the HDF cordon and the questions they'll ask, and neither of us gets captured on video camera with each other.

"Who is this? She is not registered as a citizen of this area, show me your BRTH, please." One of the officers stopped you both. Other officers were busy speaking with other residents. You would have been questioned as well but the records showed that you weren't there when it happened.

The HDF inspected it thoroughly, whatever she had, it belonged to Fonta May not the domain "Please stay put. I will be back with you shortly."

He approached another officer who had to call a Reader to install her BRTH to a Lindoux. Things were starting to look grim.

'Will it work? " your heart was racing.

"We will see." said the assassin.

The officer came back, He took off his helmet.

He was a Liteis as well " Tuu, Molah...yun yulook? Tis ladom Terminaeh? "

"Hoshe! Tis Molah, Booi vani Resdar. Yun Dacelo un mestriagh." Hisses slipped between her foreign words.

Maybe you need to more harshly indicate when we're doing something stupid like doing something that could incriminate us when Maal is depending on us to not commit crimes that would get our permits revoked.

Before deciding on where to go: the Qarsum is shown to be very dense.
Will our CULL be able to transport it for us?
If we have to lug it ourselves, we won't be able to make much profit.
Could the CULL help to watch out for dangerous fauna on Pande? I don't think we can afford mercs.
>>
Actually, checking the prices again, the Qarsum is actually selling at below market value right now.

The best profits to be made are with Plaso-Silicates and Salktium.
Both require a suit with better radiation protection, and Bu and Rex were right in that we need to buy a better suit.

Could we go to Rex and Bu's place and take a better look at the suits they have on sale?
I'd like to compare things like operation time, MOD capabilities, and radiation/temperature resistance.

Unless we go to mine something super safe like Tetra Plasosilicorobane, we need improved radiation resistance at the minimum, because mining Plaso-Silicate will kill us, mining Salktium will kill us, and mining Qarsum could get us killed by wild animals.
>>
>>537626

The C.U.L.L can transport it with no problem. We have to land on the edge on Pande since this jungle is dense.

When it comes to Combat, Cull can only act as a cover by securing Cassidy inside it. Its arms weren't build for combat situations.

The E.Y.E however can scan for potential threats using thermal scan and other means.

The mercs will take 500/hour
>>537644
The radiation caused by extracting Plaso-silicate is minor at work. We just got sick from constant exposure.

While we are at it. Suit is a primary concern but there are a lot of things worth considering like the ship [For an example upgrading the engine/core will allow faster travels, Shield systems for safe Asteroid mining...etc] Our tools [For an example a stone cutter drone] and so on.

Werrium is also available in various moons/planets.

Yeah, but isn't that very unstable?
And even if we wanted to upgrade, do we even have the money and would asteroid mining be profitable? What asteroid areas are there and what ores do they have?

We're working on a tight budget so we can't be reckless with our purchases.

You were on your way to H.Qiel , it was taking you a couple of hours. It felt good to be back in space. In a way, it was your second home.

You ate some rations after taking a warm shower. You were bummed out on what happened in your apartment. Another time, you thought.

Your voice was getting better as well as your shoulder. You didn't tell Zamon about your misadventure at Spane. There was no need.

After docking your ship and dealing with the security checks, you headed straight to Rex and Bu just before they would close their shop.

"Hey kid." Bu greeted you.

"Bu, I need a new suit. "

"Figured that out already. Well, Come on it, We will find something for you."

Bu kept checking various suits, eventually he brought three from the back.

"You got three choices, I will explain them very clearly 'cause i am sure as hell i won't cheat on Maal's kid." Rex paused before picking up the blackest of the three.

"A MK Petrl Qana suit, better version of your suit. Same brand and all. This can last for a full day no problem with better insulation. Problem is it require two days of recharging and it will cook you alive on planet with high temperature, its Mods are good too. So keep that in mind. 35000 Orin "

It eats through Werrium strips like a motherfucker but it has a small power supply for emergencies. 50000 Orin but you are basically family so no rush. We know what you are doing out there."

What does Cass know about mods?
What's available and what they can do?
>>
The last suit was green with sharp point ends in its outer later. "A Hustibia suit, This is a hunter's suit technically based on Pre-Hermia 'Bear hunting suits' but Me and Bu made a few adjustments. For starters, it is very hard to puncture, will knock the fuck out of anyone who try to have a taste of you with a powerful shock. It can camouflage too with a small delay. Almost all the toxins will do you shit. Its cooling system is impressive too. Drawback is that it is heavy as hell and has a 5 hour power supply. I wouldn't mine for radioactives in this suit. Not an good choice for frozen voyages. 40000 Orin."

Not much. She only had the extra Mechanical arm mod.

Bu and Rex are not into Modding that much.

Mods can adjust the suit itself like better cooling system or a foam that instantly fill any puncture. Some are addons like the mechanical arm or a shield for debris. Some are more technical like manual control of drones or some tools , maybe a portable scanner.

the list can go on and on

I'd really like the Valor, but the Petrl Qana can do a lot of different Mods.
This is a hard choice.

your choice man.

They said that the Valor has better insulation than the Petrl Qana, but does that include radiation resistance as well?

Yes.

well, I think we will end it for now.

probably i will start a new thread next time.

so i am going to wrap up thing with a couple of questions:

-how would you like scaling in prices and hazards to be handled? for an example, what is the optimal price for a late game all around suit?

-what do/don't you want to see in future sessions?

-how would you like the research for a cure be handled?

-what would you like the mega pastebin to contain?

and anything you have on your mind, just say it.

>-how would you like scaling in prices and hazards to be handled? for an example, what is the optimal price for a late game all around suit?
i really don't want to see the insane inflation from the average game neither the insane diffrence in power that late game equipment gets.
>-what do/don't you want to see in future sessions?
i want to run into the robot smuggler
>-how would you like the research for a cure be handled?
i want a happy ending, duh
>-what would you like the mega pastebin to contain?
cass' current equipment, money and maybe health
open payments
research progress
the characters, even minor characters like that one officer Maria Something
the locations we're allowed to mine with their environments and present minerals
minerals and their stats

that's kinda a lot, but it's going to be way easier to look up stuff
>and anything you have on your mind, just say it.
keep going, man. i want to see the ending of this

Valor.
Hopefully we'll be able to make enough money to cover the increased Werrium costs.

Ask if we can pay the 40,000 Orin now, and the remaining 10,000 Orin next month.
