The briefing room was dark and dingy as the few intel officers made their rounds and made their preparations for the upcoming mission.

It wasn't like they had many people to give the briefing to, only you and Zeus sat in the room awaiting the briefing.

In fairness though, you hadn't been sent on any missions in the past few days. In fact, you hadn't been sent on many patrol flights either. Your skills had been focused on something that you had done for many months before being assigned to VF-21.

Yep, you had been flying as an aggressor for Princess Sakamoto and your sister.

The aggressor flights had started almost the day after you had flown against the Princess and your sister. And not only did you fly as an aggressor for them, you also gave them tips how to fly better as a pair.

While they were defiantly improving, there was still a few people who were against your involvement. If only going off of the dirty looks that a number of people had been giving you since the flights had started.

"Good morning gentlemen." You were snapped from your thoughts by the man addressing you. Said man was Admiral Harris, the Commander in chief of all US forces in the Pacific

Funny, you never realised just how powerful your patron was.

"Good morning sir." You and Zeus both returned the Admiral's greeting as he stepped up to the front of the room.

"Tell me, do you boys have any idea why I've called both of you here today?" The Admiral asked as he reached the front of the room and turned to face the both of you.

>"I guess we have another mission, sir."
>"Is this about our involvement in training the Princess?"
>"We were hoping you would tell us, sir."

"Is this about our involvement in training the Princess?" You asked as a pair of intel annalists wheeled a projector in and began hooking it up to the power.

"No, though there are a few rumours regarding your..." The admiral paused for a couple of seconds while he decided how to phrase his next words. "...relationship, with Princess Sakamoto."

"And what are these rumours sir?" You leaned forward in your chair, interested in these rumours that you hadn't heard about.

Admiral Harris chuckled for a couple of seconds before responding. "All in due time Poole. We have more pressing matters at hand."

As soon as the admiral finished talking, he nodded to someone behind you, who turned off the lights as the projector turned on, showing a blank slide with only 3 words on it.

"Operation Peeping Tom"

"The pair of you have been selected for Operation Peeping Tom, don't ask about the name. I didn't choose it." Admiral Harris announced as he presses a button on a wired remote to change to the next slide, this one showing a picture of a number of Soviet warships from a high altitude shot.

"What you are looking at is the Soviet 4th fleet, part of the pacific armada. They will be heading out on deployment soon and ONI wants some close-up shots for intelligence gathering reasons." The admiral flicked over to the next slide, which showed a large aircraft carrier, the photograph having seemingly been taken from the ground as the large ship sat in port.

"Our key target is this new soviet carrier. ONI beleves it's the soviet counter to the Nimitz class carriers. It's different to the Ulyanovsk class carriers due to the lack of a ski-ramp and widened bow. ONI believes that it is fully equipped with catapults to match our current carriers, which would also suggest that the soviets may be developing a larger naval fighter to be deployed on the upgraded carriers." The admiral gave his assesment before moving onto the next slide, this one showing a large, heavily armed warship.

"Another target is the Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleship, Sovetskaya Belorussiya. ONI believes she has been up-gunned, but without clearer pictures they can't make a better assessment." The admiral informed you before turning to you.

>"So, what's the plan, sir?"
>"Why can't we just have an SR-71 or U-2 do the recon? They are better suited for it than us."

"Why can't we just have an SR-71 or U-2 do the recon? They are better suited for it than us." You suggested, you were not pleased about being assigned to an operation which would pit you against an entire Soviet fleet.

"Because the SR-71 doesn't have good enough cameras to get a number of pictures of the Soviet fleet. Meanwhile the U-2 is too slow to get the pictures and get out if things go south," The admiral responded as he flicked over to the next slide.

"And what do we have that the SR-71 and the U-2 don't have, sir?" You asked, stopping the entire briefing up just to find out why you and Zeus had been chosen for such a dangerous mission.

"You have the speed that the U-2 doesn't have while also having ECM and manoeuvrability that neither the U-2 or SR-71 has. Plus you will be flying closer than either the U-2 or SR-71 so you will be able to take better quality photographs." The admiral turned to face you, the look on his face silenced any questions or complaints you had left.

"Good. Now, back onto the matter at hand." The admiral turned and geastured to the slide that was being projected onto the screen, this one showing a map of what you assumed was the Soviet fleet's route.

"This is the Soviet fleet's current heading." The admiral explained the obvious as he flipped over to the next slide. This one showing the same map with a number of coloured lines.

"You will launch from here and follow the route indicated by the blue line. You will meet up with an IJN KC-6 and refuel before following the red line towards the Soviet fleet, where you will recover data before egressing along the course indicated by the green line. You will then meet up with an IJN flight and return to base." The admiral instructed you as he pointed to the coloured lines with a bamboo stick, apparently used to point out thing on maps or projector slides by the Japanese.

"What should we do if the Soviets attempt to shoot us down? Zeus asked as the admiral shut down the projector and one of the intel annalists turned on the lights.

"Run as fast as you can. You will be going in with a self defence load, but your priority will be to get out of there, not shoot down your pursuers." The admiral replied to Zeus before continuing.

"In any case. If you want then you can use one of the D model Tomcats. That way if you get shot down then we won't be loosing classified data." The admiral suggested calmly, in spit of you scowling at being ordered to run into the maw of the beast.

"Why not take our bird? She has better acceleration, manoeuvrability and ECM protection than the D-'cat." Zeus suggested calmly.

"Either way, it's your choice. Your RIO has given his input, though you need to make the choice now so we can get the jets ready." Admiral Harris shrugged as he passed the choice to you.

>"We'll stick with the E model. She's better than the D model and I trust her to get me through this."

"We'll stick with the E model. She's better than the D model and I trust her to get me through this." You decided almost instantly, you trusted no other aircraft to get you through this mission.

Well, maybe the Millennium Falcon. But there was no chance of you ever getting it.

"Understood. We'll get the ground crew working on getting it up and running. Anything else?" CINPAC asked as an intel annalist left the room, probably heading off to pass the choice off to the ground crews.

"What about the C-4 rigged to the aircraft. Is there any in the ejector seats or somewhere else that we should know about?" You asked as you leaned back in your seat.

"There is some rigged to the seats. It's only meant to arm in the event of an ejection, and from there it only detonates once it hits the ground. So you will have ample time to get clear from the aircraft." The admiral admitted, causing Zeus to sigh.

"I guess that was ONI's choice then?" Zeus asked dejectedly.

"No, it was the CIA's choice. They don't want the soviets getting their hands on anything." The admiral admitted with a shrug before continuing.

"Is there anything else? You both have a fleet to catch."

"There something... Do we have any intel on Soviet air power in the area? Patrols and the like?" You asked, only for an intel officer to drop a file into your lap.

"All the info you need will be included in there. The fleet will include numerous escort ships ranging from frigates to destroyers. They will also have a Kirov class battlecruiser as part of the fleet. Rough estimates put current fleet size between 9 and 15 warships." The admiral reported calmly, however, his calm voice did nothing to soothe your feelings about this mission.

"Any ideas on their new naval fighter?" You decided to press, maybe ONI had some idea on what you should look for on the carrier's deck.

"No, so keep your eyes open." CINPAC ordered you before standing up.

"In any case gentlemen. It's been long enough, you have a fleet to catch. You are dismissed." CINPAC cut the question time short as he straightened up and saluted.

You stood and saluted back to the admiral, before then leaving with the file tucked under your arm.

"This is bullshit. You know that?" Zeus instantly began to bitch as soon as the door was shut. "It was hard enough to complete our first recon mission. And now we have to charge into a fucking Soviet fleet?"

"We've survived worse. We'll be fine." You consoled your RIO as the pair of you left the command centre.

"Yeah, well forgive me for being rational. Flying at a fully armed and equipped Soviet fleet just seems like a recipe for disaster." Zeus continued his rant as you both made your way to the hanger, where your bird waited.

"Well Zeus it's too late to back out now. So get your head in the game, understood?" You stopped and levelled with Zeus, you really didn't like his negativity.

"My head is in the game, I'm just being rational about our odds." Zeus shrugged, attempting to look calm about the current situation. Though you could tell that he was anything but calm.

"The reds fly TU-95s over our fleets all the damn time. Us flying an unarmed Tomcat over their fleet won't get us shot down." You continued to try and calm down Zeus, carefully explaining why you thought the Soviets wouldn't shoot you down.

Zeus was silent at that, instead he made his way silently past you, towards the hanger.

"Excuse me, Lieutenant Poole." You turned towards the voice, and found yourself facing the same Royal Guard pilot from a few days ago.

"What do you need?" You asked the woman calmly. You hoped that she would be quick about her questions.

"I want to talk with you regarding a few rumours. If you have time to talk?" The Royal Guard pilot asked, maintaining her ridged posture as she waited for your response.

While you had only a short amount of time before you needed to take off, you couldn't leave a chance to try and tease someone from such an elite unit.

In fairness though, teasing and flirting was your usual way of talking with women, and you had the tact to be able to do it in such a way that many people didn't care about it.

As such, you turned to face the woman and smiled broadly before beginning your nominal way of flirting. "Of course, anything for you~" You rounded the charade off with a sly wink to really sell the act.

The Royal Guard in front of you immediately began to blush, your response having blindsided her. For just a second, the veil of professionalism dropped and you could see an actual person there, not the stone-faced facade that almost every member of the Royal Guard kept.

However, the shock only lasted for a couple of seconds before the pilot simply shook her head and returned her stone-faced look, in spite of the fact that you could still see the ghost of a blush on her face.

"Well, if the rumours are to be believed then I'm not the only person on base that you've said that to." The lady returned sternly, apparently not pleased at being teased.

"You'll have to indulge me about these rumours, I haven't been in the loop for a while." You challenged the lady, you were intrigued about these rumours that apparently everyone but you had heard.

The lady didn't speak, instead she just reached behind her back, retrieved something and threw it to you. You caught it easily enough and looked down at the article. Said article was a folded magazine, you quickly unfolded it and looked at the front cover, which instantly made you regret a number of things.

Pasted onto the front page was a number of photographs that showed both you and Princess Sakamoto. However, because every word on the magazine was written in Japanese, you didn't know what any of it meant.

"Rumours abound of the Princess meeting with an American pilot from a unit that should be inactive." The lady began, sounding slightly smug at how she was able to turn the tables on you.

"How much has this been distributed?" You asked with as much of a level voice as you could.

The Royal Guard pilot was quite for a couple of seconds, deep in though as she tried to think of the implications.

"Well, the publisher is a fairly small company. However any news about any member of the Royal Family tends to be snapped up quickly. the rumour is also spread all around the base too." She told you calmly, as if she had reversed her lines like an actor.

You rolled up the magazine and put it in your pocket as calmly as you could. The implications of this was vast, it could easily lead to the end of your career.

How ironic, even after all of the low passes and tower buzzes, your career could be ended by a damn rumour.

"So, Lieutenant Poole, are the rumours true?" The Royal Guard pilot asked you calmly. "Are you in a relationship with Princess Sakamoto?"

"No. Hell, my sister's closer to her than I am. I'm just assisting her in her flight training." You sternly refuted, making sure that you were able to get the message across in as few words as you could.

"You might not be interested in her, but what about the other way around? Are you sure that she doesn't have any feelings for you?" The lady asked calmly, a hint of intrigue in her voice.

"I can't say about how she feels about me as I frankly haven't asked her. However, I first met her when I checked up on my sister, who is her wingmate." You shrugged, you were very sure that Sakamoto wasn't interested in you. Hell, it would be stupid to fall for someone you had just met.

The Royal Guard pilot stood there for a couple of seconds, simply watching your body-language. However, she eventually spoke in a more even tone.

"I see... Very well, I will not hold you any longer. However, I suggest that you pay more attention to how her highness acts around you. It might just save you from breaking her delicate heart." The lady warned you before she turned on her heel and walked away.

You spent a second standing there, wondering about how you were going to deal with this, before you decided that such questions could be answered later. Right now you still had a flight to embark on.

You quickly entered the hanger and made your way to your Tomcat, Zeus was already in his seat, making his final pre-flight checks.

"Get in, I've already done the walk around." Zeus yelled at you as you approached, you took his word for it and climbed in to find that all of your pre-flights had already been done.

"You took so long that I had enough time to do your pre-flights too." Zeus told you from his seat as you closed the canopy.

"Thanks Zeus, what are we loaded with?" You asked calmly as you brought the engines online one by one.

"TARPS and LANTIRN pods for recon plus a sidewinder and fuel tanks." Zeus listed out as a diagram of your aircraft appeared on one of your MFDs, showing the locations of each missile and system pod.

"A bit light don't you think?" You asked as you gently rolled your jet onto the taxiway.

"Just like CINPAC said, we aren't there to fight. That sidewinder is the best defence we have." Zeus reminded you, his voice telling you that he was putting his attention to something else.

Probably the LANTIRN pod, he had always explained just how annoyed he would get at it.

"So, you mind telling me what took you so long?" Zeus asked as you pulled onto the runway, stopping only to get permission from the tower to take off.

You remained silent while you began your takeoff run, your Tomcat reaching takeoff speed before you even made it half way down the runway. You slowly brought the stick back until you jet angled skyward, you kept that angle until you reached cruising altitude.

"So, you gonna tell me or what?" Zeus asked impatiently from the back.

Taking your hand off the throttle, for a couple of seconds, you retrieved the magazine from your pocket and passed it back to Zeus as you spoke.

"it would seem that my roguish charm is catching up with me." The told Zeus with mock proudness. Zeus was silent for a couple of seconds as he translated the title of the magazine article.

"The Princess and the Mystery Man: Why is Princess Sakamoto spending so much time with this American?" Zeus read out with slight bewilderment.

"A few people seem to think I'm in a relationship with Princess Sakamoto, I was just setting the record straight with one of her guards." You explained with an unseen shrug.

"Razor, you do realise what could happen if Lauren sees this?" Zeus asked, his tone of voice suggested that he expected that you knew the implications.

"I know Zeus. I'm planning on phoning her later on one of the base phones." You assured Zeus as Chitose Air Base faded into the distance behind you.

The rest of the flight was relatively quiet, Zeus was busy concerning himself with either the recon systems or the magazine. Meanwhile you were busy focusing on how you were going to explain your situation to Lauren without causing her to loose it.

You completed the first leg of your journey uneventfully, meeting up with the KC-6 tanker and refuelling from it before setting your heading to intercept the Soviet fleet.

"So, how do you want to do this one?" Zeus asked as the Soviet fleet entered radar range.

>"We'll go in as high as we can, they can't escort us out if they can't send fighters up to escort us out."
>"We'll go in at our current altitude, there's no need to put them on edge by doing something that hasn't been done by other recon flights."

"We'll go in as low as we can, hopefully we can catch them off guard." You suggested as you began to bring the Tomcat into a dive.

"You do know that they might mistake us for a cruise missile and SHOOT US THE FUCK DOWN!" Zeus yelled from just behind you.

This gave you reason for pause, so you moved onto your next plan. You reduced your speed and altitude until you were flying the same flight profile that Soviet naval fighters would usually fly on CAP. If you were lucky then they would mistake you for one of their aircraft.

If that didn't work, you could just hit the afterburners and get a fast recon run in before getting the fuck out.

"Zeus, as soon as we enter visual range, start taking pictures." You instructed Zeus as you watched the sensors, from what you could tell there was 18 fighter sized aircraft in the air, an AEW aircraft and a large transport sized aircraft.

"I see 20 contacts, 18 fighter sized aircraft in CAP positions, and an AEW aircraft and a transport aircraft holding position over the fleet." Zeus repeated just what you had seen on your screen.

"Any of them vectoring towards us?" You asked calmly.

"Not yet. Though we are being tracked by the fleet's radar." Zeus reported calmly, however as you got closer to the fleet, Zeus spoke up again.

"2 fighters are breaking off, and heading towards us. Looks like interceptors." Zeus reported calmly.

A minute later, the sound of a familiar pilot met your ears.

"Attention, unidentified aircraft. state intensions and reduce speed to 150 knots for visual inspection!" The female soviet pilot from the recon flight a few days before instructed sternly.

"US Navy F-14 Tomcat, I got separated from my wingmate on a patrol flight." You reported calmly as you reduced your airspace to 150 knots.

The Soviet pilot was quiet for a good few seconds, before sighing dejectedly as the 2 aircraft flight entered visual range. "Considering our previous meeting, I'm not going to believe that."

"What a coincidence, running into you again." You said happily, putting on the most energetic and happy voice you could. "So... have you considered my proposal?"

"Back off American-ski!" A stern and manly voice barked at you. You recognised the voice as the female pilot's wingmate. "You are worse than a door to door food salesman!"

"You have door to door salesmen in Soviet Russia?" You asked calmly, hoping to exploit this chance to drive more of a wedge between the female pilot and the Soviet Union.

"Yes, they tempt good and honest workers with the dark, corrupt fruits of evil capitalism! And thankfully the police actively pursue those lawless vagabonds." The male pilot responded proudly.

"I'm no expert on the matter of the distribution of food in the Soviet Union. But I know that if there is enough of a need for food that door to door food salesmen are a common occurrence, then there is certainly a problem with food distribution." You explained calmly, before then adding more. "Say what you like about America, but we don't have such a lack of food that door to door food salesmen are a thing. Usually they just try to sell vacuum cleaners."

"Enough! You are transgressing on the glorious 4th fleet of the Soviet Navy. You will change course immediately!" The male pilot roared, his voice only being muted by the mono-volume speakers in your helmet.

"So the least you could do is return the courtesy and let us through, It's not like I'm armed with anti-ship weapons." You finalised as the flankers pulled up next to you. You could clearly see that one of them was a twin seat model, the pilot was a large male while the person sat behind him was a short woman. Flying the other aircraft was another woman, both women wore evidenced by their more sizeable chests.

Man, you weren't sure if that was a good or a bad thing.

"You really think that will work on us American? Get out of here." The male pilot yelled, only for the female pilot to speak up.

"He has a point. If we let him take a look then they won't send any more recon aircraft after us." The female pilot spoke up. Following that both the soviets went silent, both of them were likely arguing over their radios. However, a few minutes later, they spoke again.

"You may make a pass. After that however, you will leave." The male pilot reported dejectedly, having been cowed by someone higher up.

"Understood. Thank you for your co-operation!" You responded happily, if only to spite him.

You flew over the fleet, making sure that you would fly as close to both the carrier and the battleship. The only audible sound in the cockpit was the sound of Zeus mashing buttons on his station.

With your flight profile slow and stable, you instead decided to look at the fleet and the aircraft around you. Most of it was not very notable, only one thing stood out to you, and it sat on the deck of the Soviet carrier.

Sat on the deck, mixed in amongst the Flankers and Fulcrums sat a number of familiar aircraft. The first ones looked like the Soviet equivalent of E-2 Hawkeyes, all the way down to the number of engines, overall aerodynamic shape and radar size. Sat next to that was a number of F-14s in Iranian markings. You could see 8 of them on the deck of the carrier and you knew that there was more than that under the deck.

Oh man, ONI was going to flip their shit.

>Sure would be a rude surprise for us if the super Foxbat (MiG-31) he warned the US about made an appearance and promptly shut down our speed advantage.
He did still defect, however his aircraft wasn't returned. And in fairness, the foxbat itself already beat you out on speed. You however had better electronics.

"Man, you guys sure enjoy copying American designs. First the Tu-4, now these. What do you call 'em?"
>>
"So what's up with those F-14s, finally realise they are better than anything you're flying?" You asked the female pilot nonchalantly, you knew that her wingmate was listening in, but if you could flirt with her and piss him off at the same time then that was a bonus.

"Not really, the Iranians wanted to strengthen their relationship with the Motherland, so we allowed them to send some aircraft to be part of the carrier's air group." The female pilot explained calmly, though you could feel some warmth in her voice.

"Better than anything you're flying..." The male pilot repeated in a mocking voice. "We have many aircraft that are greater than your pathetic F-14. It is a bad aircraft!"

"Those are aircraft we sold to the Iranians, of course they are going to be shitty." You replied calmly as you flew over the soviet battleship.

"Though you Soviets really are lacking in creativity, or do you just get a kick out of copying American designs? First the TU-4, then your heavy carrier, and now those AWACS birds." You said calmly as you noticed the similarities between the Soviet battleship and the Iowa class battleships, including the arrangement of the ship's main gun turrets.

"A copy! How dare you sully the great work of the Soviet people!" The male pilot bellowed again. Apparently none too pleased about your disdain for Soviet engineering.

"It's not as much work as it it copying someone else's answers. It's a shameful display." You fired back, the radio connection was silent for a couple of seconds, before the Soviet pilot spoke again.

"You filthy swine. I should end you right this instant!" The male pilot bellowed.

"Comrade Makarov, please, calm down!" The female pilot begged in fluent Russian.

"And why should I? Have you lost your edge, or has this American's poisonous words corrupted your loyalty to the motherland?" The male pilot shot back, his voice sounding even more bitter than when he was talking with you.

>Get involved, you want to make sure that he knows just what will happen to him and his little fleet if he doesn't calm down.

You decided to listen in, you didn't really want to give up that you were fluent in Russian.

"No comrade. I am sure that he has support from other American units." The female pilot replied calmly, taking the emotional high ground by not resorting to either insults or yelling.

"And what makes you think that?" The male pilot asked, his voice still dripping with venom.

"Remember the last time we encountered him? He had support with him for that mission and you don't think he would have support on this, far more dangerous, mission?" The female pilot explained her reasoning. "I wouldn't be surprised if the Americans were just using him as bait to drag us into a war."

"You do have a point, the Americans are that sly." The male pilot admitted, the gears in his brain slowly turning as he began to understand the implications of what your support could have been if it actually existed.

"Fine, I will hold off. But if he does anything else then I am shooting him down." The male pilot announced as you passed over the final warship in the Soviet fleet.

You were escorted away from the fleet by the Soviet fighters, both of the pilots escorting you quietly, until at 5km away from the fleet the female pilot spoke again.

"This is where we go our separate ways again American. Goodbye." She said politely as the flankers broke off, returning to the fleet.

"In which case, Da svidanya, Misha!" You bid goodbye to the Soviet pilot before slamming the throttle open and hitting the afterburners. Launching back towards Japan on the 3rd "leg" of your mission.

"So, do you think that Soviet chick might defect?" Zeus asked over the private, in-aircraft radio channel.

>"Hopefully,It would be a major kick in the teeth to the Soviets if all of this came out."
>"Maybe, defectors are always risky business as they could also be used as bait for traps."
>"No, even if she does want to defect then her wingmate would likely report her to the KGB."

"Hopefully,It would be a major kick in the teeth to the Soviets if all of this came out." You answered Zeus calmly.

"I'm not counting on it. It'd be nice if she did, but after Belenko they're gonna be a lot more wary about fighter pilots defecting to Japan. I just hope their brass doesn't get suspicious and arrest her." Zeus said calmly, making it obvious that he had more reservations about the Soviet pilot's chances of defecting.

"I can agree with you on that point. Though I'm worried about her wingmate. He seems like the kind of guy that would report her to the KGB just for talking with you." You couldn't help but agree with Zeus. While the prospect of netting yourself a defector was a nice thought, you had to admit that there were some pretty major hurdles in the Soviet woman's way.

"Either way, I don't think we can continue with these flights anymore." Zeus replied, sounding more concerned about the potential to be shot down.

"I agree, if all Soviet pilots are like that guy the we will eventually find ourselves on the wrong side of a missile." You announced as you slowed down, returning to cruising speed.

"In any case, how do you plan to deal with these rumours?" Zeus changed the topic of the conversation to the more pressing matter.

"Simple. I'm first going to call Lauren and make sure that she KNOWS that the rumors are false. After that I'm going to talk with the Princess about it." You laid out your current plan calmly to Zeus. It was fairly bare-bones, but it was all you had at the moment.

"What will you accomplish by talking to the Princess about it?" Zeus asked with a hint of surprise.

"The person that told me about these rumours also told me to pay more attention to how Sakamoto acts around me. Apparently my informant thought that Sakamoto might actually harbour some feelings for me.

Zeus was quiet for a few seconds, before he then began to chuckle.

"Shit Razor, you're the only person I know that could find a problem in having a Princess swooning for him." Zeus chuckled calmly. "And if this magazine is right then she's already waiting for some of you to liberate her of her virginity."

You couldn't help but chuckle at the suggestion. After all, it wasn't a bad thing to think about, Sakamoto was kinda cute. But either way, you couldn't shake the feeling that all of your flirting might come back to bite you one day.

Wait, what? When did that happen? I am not in charge of paying attention apparently.

Thanks for sticking this out anyway Thunder, I'm always down for some honest fighter jet action. Hmm, any chance of us eventually encountering some Ace Combat style fictional superplane, on either side? I remember some supplemental material for Assault Horizon managed to incorporate the CFA-44 as a Soviet superfighter.

Maybe, while I can't confirm or deny if they will be in, I will have to look into making a soviet 5th gen fighter.

Dick waving mostly. The US has the Iowa class, the Japanese have the Yamato class and the British still operate HMS Warspite as one of the oldest warships still in active service. Admittedly, Warspite and the Iowa class have just been pulled back into active service after a long bout as museum ships. However, they are active and that counts.

Yes, however their supercarriers are essentially based off the Shinano class aircraft carrier. One of the rules placed on Japan post-WW2 was that they were not able to design any new carriers or supercarriers. However, this did not cover or prevent the modernisation of WW2 carriers. As such, warships 111 and 797, which were originally meant to be Yamato class battleships were rebuilt as Shinano class supercarriers. While they were the largest carriers on the seas until the Forrestal class carriers were built, they still remain in service.

Japan's military restrictions are very different, while they are allowed an offensive military, it is still restricted in size and funding. Additionally, because of the IJN/IJA civil war, Japan doesn't operate an army per say. Instead, all military services are derived from the navy (with the army's role being taken by the marines and the air force being replaced by the naval air service). Additionally, due to the restrictions on domestic development, the Japanese military relies on foreign designed or built equipment.
