0000 Hours
Aboard the UNSC Pioneer

"Begining preliminary examination."

You lie back aboard the medical table as the machinery surrounding you comes to life in a burst of light and noise. Mechanical appendages lower and beginning poking and prodding into your heavily toned body. A single appendage lowers and plays a bright light on your eye.
You're unable to move. Heavy straps keeping you locked onto a surgical table. The cold of the table beneath you a shocking contrast to your bare torso. An appendage lowers from the ceiling, the sound echoed by numerous other appendages. You twist your head to see the others strapped to a table much like yours. A laser begins to draw incision lines across your skin. Solomon, Keiichi, Jorge, John. You are unable to see who else is in the room with you and your focus is pulled away by an intravenous drip being inserted into your arm by one of the many medical staff. Your senses begin to immediately fade away. Before light, smell, and sound fades completely you hear the familiar voice of Dr. Halsey.

"Begin the Augmentations."

The appendage retracts slightly before it moves to your other eye and plays the same light.

Your world is colored in pain. You feel a sharp object slice into the back of your head. Expertly and precisely removing al material between your brain and the outside world. A brief sensation of air, then pain. Your brain sends messages of excoriating pain to your body. Messages to get up, to run away, to end the pain, to flee. Tiny pinpricks are made and you feel the forceful shifting of your brain matter. The arrangement of what makes you... you. The first of many changes to come. You feel an indescribable sense of pain and the shifting of your eyes. You want to scream. To yell your pain, fury, and agony to the heavens. Your tongue doesn't rise, your mouth doesn't open, no howl emanates from the teenager laid on the table. Nothing. Soon the pain dulls from the feeling of fire in your head to the dull sensation of constant shocks. Relief. Then you feel sharp incisions along your skin. Exposing your bones to the air.

The appendage retracts as the keen coppery taste of blood fills your mouth. You sit up interrupting the appendages and you hang over the side of the table coughing and retching up blood. You hear a rushed movement as a woman's callused, yet surprisingly soft hands push you back and begin to shake you.

"Damien!? Damien!?" She yells and calls to you but you're far, far away. Phantom pain setting your nerves afire, mouth held tightly shut, wishing to scream but unable to. You hear the faint whine and a build up.

"Clear!" The women yells and you feel an immense shock to your body. Dragging you from the depths of pain and anguish and back to the present. Your vision is blurred for a moment before refocusing quickly. You see the concerned look of Dr. Halsey as you sit up.

"What happened?" She asks while playing with instruments, checking your vitals. She walks over to a nearby table and grabs a small flashlight. Before she can flash the light into your eyes you grab her wrist.

"Damien..." She pulls back unable to break free of your grip. "Damien!" Her voice brings you out of your stupor and you release her arm. She pulls it back and briefly rubs it before returning to her instruments, a frown etched on her face.

"It was another flashback." At that admission she looks up and examines you closely.

"Again? How many? How vivid?" You sit in silence mulling over her question. "Damien." She softly says.

"Just now? It was just one. I had a flashback to when we went for the surgery." You stare out into the room. Thankfully it's different than the room you were in that day. You idly play a hand across your body where the incision lines used to rest.

"See." You turn to see the doctor falling into one of her rants. "I told them a hundred, no a thousand times. They aren't ready - you weren't ready. There were more tests, more training, more treatments." She walks over to a draw and shuffles through a bottle of pills. She raises some to her face examining the labels. "But did they listen? No. They want soldiers but don't want to care for them." She walks back to you and hands you a bottle. "Take these."

"What are they?"

"Beta blockers. They should reduce your episodes. Your surgery was years ago. But you still haven't gotten used to your new body. Remember the days after?" You open the bottle and pop a couple of pills. Halsey hands you a bottle of water and you swiftly wash them down.

"How could I forget." You bitterly state. It was only days after the surgery that your body would nearly start destroying itself. Your bones would nearly crush each other as you moved around. The way your eyes bled.

"What we did to you is revolutionary. A byproduct of such trailblazing is surely worth it for the end result, is it not? Please lay back down. We still have to give you a full evaluation after the mission." You lay back down and take a deep breathe.

"I'm ready."

"Resuming examinations. Déjà?"

A blue projection of a woman appears by Halsey's side. Déjà. The AI who was your teacher for the majority of your life. Science, history, math. She taught it to all of you since the day you were brought to the program.

"Yes, Doctor."

"Monitor Damien's heart rate, pulse, and adrenaline levels. Ready anaesthetics."

"Yes, Doctor." The AI turns to you and gives you a warm smile. "How are you doing today, Damien?"

"Better now, Miss."

"That's great to hear." she beams at you.

It's about thirty minutes into your examinations that you hear the sliding of a door. You remain on the table while soft lights play on you and appendages take samples of your blood, bone marrow, and tissue. The appendages carry military grade cutting material as your body would either break or refuse the entry of lesser materials.

"What are you doing in here! I said no Interruptions!" Halsey yells

"My apologies, Doctor. But the Admiral-" A woman's voice reaches you before it's cut off by Halsey's on

"I don't care if the Admiral is dying! If I say no interruptions in my lab then there are to be none!"

"Doctor!" She yells out in what must be exasperation

"Run along now child."

"Doctor... The admiral is requesting the Spartan's presence for debriefing immediately!"

"And I could not care less. "

"Halsey." She sighs. "Please."

"I said go, didn't I? Your Admiral could learn patience."

The woman loudly sighs again.

"Take him."

"What!" You hear a brief struggle.

"Mam please get out of the way." A man's voice appears now and you sit up. Three men wearing black uniforms are attempting to get pass Halsey as Déjà watches conflicted.

"My patient has not finished his examinations! Unhand me!" One of the men lifts her out the way and holds her.

"Spartan." Another man walks to you. "Admiral Johan requests your presence. Now." You look past the man to see a woman in the same black uniform as the three men while the other holds a struggling, furious Halsey. You look closely at their uniform to see a small seal of ONI located on their shirts.

"Unhand me you Brute!" Halsey continues to struggle against the much larger man

"Lad- Come on! AHHH SHIT!" He yells as Halsey bites one of his hands.

"Damn Horace. She's like what? A hundred pounds." Another of the three laughs.

"Come now Gentleman... Halsey. I'm sure we can handle this like civilized individuals." Déjà adds trying to diffuse the situation.

"We trued and she refused. much like an uncivilized individual. Now Spartan." Are you coming with us or not?" The man in front of you asks.

""If she said I'm not done. Then I'm not done. Wait."

The man squints his eyes and you and frowns.

"Look. I don't care if you're a Spartan, ODST, or a damn Orion! I have my orders and you had yours!" He grabs you by your unbuttoned uniform and pulls you.

"Keith." The woman calls the man holding you in warning.

"What!? I'm not letting this kid disobey orders and rank." Halsey starts to laugh.

"If you want to keep that hand I suggest you let him go." Keith stares at her breifly before looking at you.

"Is that so?"

You return the stare of the man named Keith.

"Permission to engage, Doctor?"

"PERMISSION GRANTED!" She yells.

"Goddamn, kids." He grabs you bodily by your uniform and pulls you off the table.

"Damien d-"

Déjà is interrupted by the yell of the man holding you. You hold tightly onto one of his wrists, feeling all the resistance in it ebb away.

"GAH!"

You grab his other arm and he falls to the ground as you squeeze them.

"Bastard!" He chokes out and moves to headbutt you from his position on his knees. You simply move your head back and turn his momentum against him, throwing him easily into a cabinet on the far side of the room.

"Oh shit." The other two men say in synch while Halsey smugly grins. The man holding her drops her to the ground and charges you. While his comrade follows closely behind him

"Déjà. I sincerely hope you are keeping a measure on his readings."

"Yes, Doctor." The AI sighs as numerous charts, and graphs appear in the air near her.

"STAND DOWN!" The woman orders to her men and they ignore her completely.

The large man that was holding Halsey throws heavy fists that might have had the semblance of composure and intimidation behind them had you been someone else. To you, they're clumsy and way too slow. You easily dodge and weave each of his fists by a hair's breath, hoping to agitate him. You're briefly surprised when he ducks and his friend comes jumping at you prepared to kick you. You easily plant yourself and block his kick to your neck with your left forearm. You then quickly wrap your arm around his leg and deliver a series of punches with your right arm to his midsection. You feel something give way on your last punch and you let him drop to the floor.

"FUCKER!" The big man yells s he tackles you to the ground. You calmly deflect each of his punches as his breath becomes more ragged. After several moments of this, you simply ask him.

"Are you finished?" Not waiting for an answer you plant your foot on him and kick him off of you.

He stumbles back for some time while you leap to your feet and quickly close the distance between you. His eyes widen and he moves to block. You just quickly circle around him and grab his waist, locking your arms around it. Lifting you easily pull him up into the air and slam him back down behind you. You hear footsteps rushing toward you and you flip over the suplexed man. Without breaking a step you pick up the man and toss him into Keith, sending him sprawling back to the cabinet you originally threw him at.

(1/2)
>>
You hear a fast shuffling movement to your right and you quickly duck beneath a roundhouse from the smaller man. Much to his credit, he moves fast even without a broken rib. He unleashes a flurry of kicks towards you. You duck, dodge, weave, and jump over his many attempts to kick you. He growls before feigning a punch at you then transitioning to a leg sweep. You jump up into the air and slam back down on the offending leg, breaking it. He shouts in pain while you look back to Keith.

He stumbles to his feet, finally free of his larger friend.

"Come on you fucking freak." He challenges you before spitting and getting into a boxer's stance. You watch him passively for a moment before moving to a small table. You shake the contents off before lifting it and throwing it at Keith.

He ducks beneath it and charges at you. Keith pulls back his right arm and swiftly throws a haymaker. You leap back and then forward throwing your foot into his face. You feel a crunch beneath your boots and Keith is sent flying back, landing on his friend.

"Vitals?" You hear Halsey ask behind you

"They're still alive." Déjà sighs.

"No. I meant Damien." Déjà sighs again and shows Halsey several charts.

"Heart rate was steady. Adrenaline steady... He may as well have been reading a book." Halsey laughs.

"Excuse me, ma'am? I believe the Spartan is ready for your admiral." The woman stares at you in a mixture of awe, confusion, and fear. It's always fear.

"R-right. Please follow me."

"Run along now Damien. I'll be going over your data for some time." You briefly look at each of the men and Halsey laughs again. "Don't worry about me. I'll send someone to get this trash."

You walk up to the woman and begin to button up your uniform. She takes a step back.

"Oh, and tell Dear Johan to keep the readings from the suit. I already have more recent data."

"R-right."

You follow the woman out of the med bay into the ship proper. You notice she walks very fast. Either she's scared of you or being late for the admiral. Either way, you easily match her pace down the halls of the UNSC Pioneer. As you walk through the halls several crew members stop to salute her while others stop to stare at you. You ignore their looks instinctively and keep pace.

When you reach an elevator she presses several buttons before placing her hand on a scanner. Afterwards she stands as far from you as possible while the elevator silently moves.

You idly listen to the soft hum of the elevator as it moves through the ship. You just remember the music you heard when you climbed into the elevator back in Loman. At the time you didn't pay much attention to it, you made sure to tune out any distractions. But as you stand in this elevator you can't help but wonder why the ship doesn't have any.

After several moments you find your eyes wandering towards the woman. Like the men she too wears an ONI emblazoned uniform. The woman looks surprisingly young. Most people in ONI tend to be older and subsequently more experienced soldiers, operatives, and scientist. She, however, appears to be at the very least in her early twenties. Her skills must be excellent for her to be accepted into the Office at such a comparatively young age. Her face is chiseled with high and prolific cheekbones, her eyes are a light shade of Hazel, resting between an average nose, and plump lips adorned with lip gloss. She stands at a modest 5'6 easily dwarfed by your height

>Write In Height. 6'10 is the average. 8ft is the absolute tallest.

The woman's eyes briefly look towards you. When she notices your gaze she stiffens up considerably for the rest of the ride. Moments later the elevator stops and you walk down and the two of you walk down a series of halls with cabins on each side. Each cabin belongs to a high-ranking member on the Pioneer. She stops in the middle of the hall and knocks on a door three times before waiting.

The door slides open and the two of you walk into the room. Surprisingly enough the room isn't a cabin but what appears to be a data center. ONI operatives sit at terminals examining data, speaking to operatives in the field, each other, and processing massive amounts of data. In the Center of it all is the Admiral.

"Red-One reports complete success. The package has been secured and transport is on the way."
"Urban Five has been deployed."
"Kale awaiting further orders."
"Prowler One-Six has begun it's maiden voyage. Captain Arthur says to have a bottle of champagne ready on return."
"Colonel Herzog is currently on his way to the next safe house. How advise?"
"Raid on Tremere commencing in three... two... one... Units 7 and 8 have entered. 5 and 6 have begun to block all escape routes. 4 and 3 are on standby in the air. 1 and 2 have begun the diversion. All statuses green, operational capacity at One-Hundred."

The two of you move towards the admiral but he hardly acknowledges your existence as you wait. The woman, however, maintains a firm salute.

"Tell Kale to begin the interrogation. Jameson, prepare Arthur a bottle from my own cabinet. Tell Herzog to relax. That's an executive order. I want extra birds in the air around Tremere. No one escapes alive." The admiral's harshed clipped voice steadily orders.

"SIR!" All the operatives reply and resume their missions. Johan finally gives the two of you his attention. He looks at the saluting woman and then back to you.

"Where's the other man Dana?" The woman stiffens and her salute slackens a bit before she finds resolve.

"They are incapacitated, sir!" she calls out readily/ Johan laughs.

"Is that so? Bring me up Recording Sera-0003" A recording of you handling the ONI operatives play on a screen in front of the Admiral, quickly showing how you man handled his men. The admiral whistles.

"Well, now." Dana stiffens up again "Are you mentally deficient Spartan?" he asks eyes staring directly at yours.

Generally the stuff 2's don't have an equilivant to. like the implant/artifical organ that let's them bring in stuff like poison gas.

Organ implantation
Aside from the brain, virtually all other organs in the body are either modified in some manner or replaced.[10] Several organs are biofabricated, including the lungs. The lungs implanted into the Spartans are biofabricated and lined with a STONEWELL pulmonary surfactant; a polymer that enhances oxygen intake and allows the subject to process air-borne toxins or foreign gas mixtures.[4] The pancreas is replaced by an apparently unnamed, vat-grown organ.[4] The Spartans also undergo treatments to prevent organ rejection.

Circulatory and metabolic improvement
Subjects undergo numerous circulatory improvements. The heart is implanted with a synthetic, polythread weave which significantly increases its capacity to pump blood. Chondrocytes are genetically altered to allow for faster clotting. Subject's blood is modified to make the Spartan immune to most toxins. Spartans are also subjected to K5.2 hemoescutcheon, and implanted with circulatory shunts and intelli-fibrin acclimation, likely aiding in the healing of wounds.

Intestinal bacteria are altered to enable the digestive system to absorb more nutrients from food.An intestinal bioreactor is also implanted, and the subject is given a gut microbiota refresh.

Gene therapy
Spartans undergo an extensive gene therapy, which involves the lengthening of the telomeres and increasing the effectiveness of chondrocytes.

http://www.halopedia.org/SPARTAN-IV_Augmentation_Program and here's more. Some stuff like reconstructing the ligaments of the Spartans 4s are even something the 2's could use.
>>
The main reasons 2's preform flat out better is because their physical enhancements are better.
>>
>>562951
So they outperform S2's where it matters? Got you.
>>
>>562730

> No, Sir.
>>
>>562959
For the most part they can rely on their armor to pick up the slack. As buck says in something from halo:

"We're not exactly like those artificial gods from the earlier generations. More like demigods. And I'll be damned if that usually isn't good enough."
>>
>>562963
Least Buck knew his place, I hated almost every other S4 made. Cheap knock offs.
>>
If we survive to the point where spartan fours are coming online and are with them and not stuck with the chief in the forward unto dawn I suggest we grab those.
>>
>>562972
Halo five was pretty neat. I mean the plot over all was meh but the spartan four team you followed actually were pretty likable. Whether they were the norm or not they respected the 2's and the chief.
>>
>>562978
Oh lordy, No they weren't. They were ONI lap dogs, and only the 1 had a good opinion of the chief. They were also sent by one of the most biased cunts leading ONI and that's saying something.
>>
I just wanna be the best S2 we can be guys, let's focus on making it through the coming years.
>>
Sorry for the abrupt disappearance writan

Also the way I saw it the S4's were better in the sense that they had more augs and better armour yet the S2's augs were so personal that a top S2 will 8/10 outperform a top S4 if they have the same armour
>>
Also more from buck on the various spartan generations.

"When I say walking gods, I mean the Spartan-IIs. Like the old Greek Titans in the way that they live among us but are literally head and shoulders better in every way. And they’re just about as hard to kill. The fact we lost so many of them during the Covenant War tells you something about how horrific that conflict was. The soldiers in the SPARTAN-III program were more like your standard gods of myth and legend, the Titans' kids. Hermes and Apollo and Aphrodite and such. If the Spartan-IIs are more powerful than you can imagine, Spartan-IIIs are probably just inside your limits. The Spartan-IVs—my new designation—are like demigods then, the offspring of the real gods. Think Hercules. We can pass for regular people most of the time—something folks would generally have a hard time mistaking the earlier generations for—but inside, we're far more than that."
—Spartan Edward Buck, comparing the augmentations of the Spartan-IVs to the previous Spartan generations

As for them being cheap knock offs they were. Spartan four augmentations were made so anyone can get them. 2's and even three's had some pretty strict genetic requirements.

>>562987
I didn't get that impression. At least from Locke and Buck. Locke seemed to hate that he was being sent after chief but was willing to do his job anyway.
>>
>>562992
Eh. Every 4's augmentation was custom tailored to each one. Only the two's and threes could get the physical augmentations they did because of how old they got them and their genetics. And even then most twos didn't do well. A couple more decades and they will probably be able to give anyone the same kind of upgrades the twos and threes got as adults.
>>
>>562992
Too be fair Chief 'was' the top of the line when he fought Locket who had his own Top-Kit. All that happened was a broken visior then again I doubt either wanted to kill the other soo.. Its hard to say who would've won that in a 'real' fight.

>>562995
Buck was an Aw-struck child with Chief, It was adorable as shit. Locke to me came off as an aggregate asshole who should've had a bullet put in him.

Btw what book added in these new 'gene' mods. All I remember from my books and games stated that they were easier to produce, You had to serve X-amount of years and had a MUCH MUCH lower wash out rate plus... you know didn't need to steal kids anymore.

Course the experimental spartan 4 augmentations were insane. They could match a spartan 2 in armor with out any and could survive being spaced without a suit.

Experimental phase[edit]
"The original plan was to create Spartans with no armor. They'd have unbreakable bones, and be capable of feats of strength normally possible only with armor. But even for Spartans, the cost of augmentation was too high…"
—Jun-A266[12]

A series of additional augmentations were included in the earliest, prototypical phase of the SPARTAN-IV program. Unapproved by the UNSC Navy's committee that regulated other matters relating to the SPARTAN-IV program, this experimental phase of the augmentation program was conducted entirely by the Office of Naval Intelligence. These enhancements would have made the Spartans significantly stronger and more resistant to injury, the goal being that they could operate without Mjolnir armor. However, these procedures proved to have an unacceptably high casualty rate, killing or crippling nine of the ten initial candidates; the sole survivor, Ilsa Zane, was rendered mentally unstable and began suffering homicidal tendencies.[12]

Demonstrating the effectiveness of these experimental enhancements, Zane was able to engage a Mjolnir-armored Sarah Palmer in hand-to-hand combat without the use of any protective equipment and survived Palmer violently driving her head into a metal bulkhead face-first, as well as her subsequent prolonged exposure to the vacuum of space.[12] Several years later, she was able to charge into a group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and knock them to the ground.[13] She was noted to move with incredible speed and power.[14]
>>
>>563050

Zane sounds very much like a poorly written; "Look how badass my character is" villain.
>>
>>563077
I don't think she ever shows up more then twice.

"Units 1 and 2 have received stiff resistance."
"Unit 3 being sent to provide covering fire."
"Unit 4 on standby providing refuels and light overwatch."
'Unit 5 and 6 have demolished targets Omega, Charlie, and Bravo."
"Units 7 and 8 have yet to encounter any hard resistance. No casualties reported."
"Operation UNDERSLUNG is maintaining One-Hundred percent operational capacity."

Dana on the meanwhile is stuck looking like a deer caught in traffic lights.

"S--Sir-" She shouts but is quickly silenced

"I am not speaking to you Lieutenant." Johan says without breaking eye-contact with you.

"No, sir." You respond tersely.

"Then what possible, logical explanation could there be for your actions?" He asks

"I was under medical review at the time to ensure I came back without issues. The men sent to get me, however, could not wait and endangered the safety of both our leading Doctor and also my own well-being." You explain, knowing he most certainly saw that himself.

"That may well be, Spartan, but let me tell you how things are going to be-" He stands from his seat in the center of the room and walks towards you. Johan isn't a tall man. Standing at a simple 5'10 he only about manages to reach your chest. He looks up at you, staring deep into your own eyes, from a face covered in wrinkles, scars, and age. Chin adorned with a neat beard and hair slicked back militarily.

"As long as you are under my command you will follow each and every single one of my orders down to the letter. If I say jump you ask how high. If I tell you to kill you ask me who doesn't die. There are no deviations, no excuses, no ifs and no buts. My word is the highest in your world. I saw your files, you aren't a team player. I don't care. If I tell you to follow you follow, if I tell you to lead you lead. I don't care about your past or your future. All that matters is the present, the now. Right now you work for me, under me. My word is law, the only word whose is higher is God. Am I understood 032?" He asks staring up deep into your eyes. You can't help but feel like he thinks of you as a child.

Dana looks between you two. Eyes full of fear and awe. Her hands ever reaching towards her waist, breath heavy.

You quickly snap into a salute, eyes forward back high and straight, hand to your head, just like Menendez showed you all those years ago. Johan says nothing and merely watches you for a moment before returning to his seat.

"I'm glad we have an understanding." He leans back into his chair before pulling out a pipe and lighting it. He takes several puffs and exhales before calling out. "Update!"

"Units 1 and 2's movement has been halted. They are now digging in to keep as many of the enemies as they can!"
"3 and 4 have shifted into full support!"
"5 and 6 moving to objectives Whiskey and Foxtrot!
"Unit 7 and 8 are still moving undeterred!"
"Operation capacity down to Ninety Percent! Estimates show the longer the 1 and 2 remain operational capacity will continue to fall!"

"Order 5 to provide flanking fire and support for units 1 and 2!"
"Sir!"

"Unit 6 will destroy Foxtrot and entrench themselves at Whiskey to destroy any who rout! Break a quarter of the units in 6 of to provide recon!"
"Forming Unit 6b now!"

The men and women in the command center rush to their specific tasks. Relaying communications, giving orders and providing strategic intel from satellites stationed in orbit.

"Spartan." Johan's voice brings your attention back to him. "What you see here is the result of your excellent work at Loman. Tremere is one of the strategic locations we pinpointed from the recovered data."

"UNIT 1 HAVE CREATED A HOLE IN THE INSURGENTS!"
"Tell them to hold position and wait for 5's flanking action!"
"ROGER!

"We haven't fully examined the data and found where they were able to mole into our systems-"
"UNIT 5 HAS SHIFTED INTO FULL SUPPORT!"

"But I have my suspicions. Do you know of Colonel Watts?"

"Isn't he dead?" Colonel Watts was once the leader of forces combatting independent militaristic elements on the frontier. He eventually defected to separatists after believing the policies of the Unified Earth Government to be flawed. Watts became the leader of several insurrectionist factions and forming the Secessionist Union. He was listed as deceased after the events of Operation CHARLAMAGNE in 2496.

"That's what Section Two would have everyone believe. But I'm not in Section Three because I believe everything the media says. Who else would have a way into older ONI OS but Watts? Who else could whip up a group like Kane's Angels into such a shape? Watts is alive and I'm going to-"
"UNIT 6B UNDER HEAVY FIRE!"
"UNITS 3 AND 4 RECEIVING ANTI-AIR FIRE!"
"PELICANS 1-3 AND 1-4 HAVE GONE DONE! I REPEAT BIRDS 1-3 AND 1-4 ARE OUT OF THE AIR! CLEAR THE AREA 1 AND 2 YOU HAVE DEBRIS COMING DOWN!"

"PATCH ME INTO 1!" Johan yells throwing his pipe.

(1/2)
>>
The intense gunfire of UNSC weapons sounds out through the intel room. Drowning out all communications and orders.

"REGAL STATUS REPORT!" Johan demands.

"TAKING HEAVY-" A loud explosion sounds. You know that sound, the
M41 SPNKR.

"WARTHOG DOWN! WARTHOG DOWN! WE ARE TAKING HEAVY FIRE! KINGMAKER IS DOWN! I REPEAT! KINGMAKER IS DOWN! SUPPRESSING FIREEEEE!" The trooper yells as his assault rifles sound off near endlessly

"REQUESTING IMMEDIATE AIR SUPPORT! WHERE ARE THE PELICANS!" Johan stands there face hard.

"The pelicans are under heavy fire, soldier."

"WE NEED ASSIATNACE! I REPEAT! THIS IS REGAL 1-1 MAKING AN OFFICAL REQUEST FOR IMMEADI-" An explosion is heard and the connection drops

"REGAL IS DOWN! I REPEAT REGAL IS DOWN!"

"Full status report."

"UNITS 1 AND 2 HAVE TAKEN HEAVY FIRE. 1 IS DOWN TO SEVENTY-SEVEN OPERATIONAL CAPACITY! 2 IS PROVIDING COVERING FIRE AND IS CURRENTLY TRYING TO BREAK THROUGH TO 1! 2 AT NINETY PERCENT AND DROPPING"
"UNITS 3 AND 4 UNDER HEAVY FIRE FROM ANTI-AIR WEAPONS! SATELLITES ARE UNABLE TO PINPOINT! FUCK!" An operative tosses his headset "THEY'RE JAMMING US 3 AND 4 ARE OFFICIALLY BLIND IN THE AIR!"
"5 AND 6 ARE UNDER INCREASING LEVELS OF FIRE! THEY HAVE RETREATED!"
"CONTACT HAS BEEN LOST WITH 6B! I REPEAT ALL CONTACT WITH 6B HAS BEEN LOST!"
"7 AND 8 HAVE FALLEN INTO A TRAP! 7 IS AT HALF CAPACITY! 8 AT SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT AND RAPIDLY DROPPING!"

"WHAT ARE YOUR ORDERS ADMIRAL!" An operative turns and looks at the Admiral who remains seated and staring at the various screens thoughtfully.

The intel room is a whirlwind of noise and turmoil. Operatives try their hardest to relay any advice and provide what support they can from here. You're not sure when but Dana ran off to join the operatives and provide tactical support. Men and women scream, gunfire rattles off from open comms, explosions, screams of pain, triumph shouts, prayers to gods, and at the center of it all sits one man. The admiral sits in his command chair, silent, face a statue of passivity. A single request is sounded in that moment. Three words. Three words that the men and women in that room knew were going to be frequent. Words that would tip the scale. Words that would send hope and fear in equal measure. Words that would kill. Words that would be the last on the lips of the Thirty-Three. A prayer? A condemnation? A creed?

"Send us in." You say it with resolve and determination as you stare deep into the eyes of the Admiral.

Three words are all it takes to silence the storm. Three words have each and every person in the room silent. Breaths held waited for the order. The word to spring them into action. What feels like an eternity passes for the operatives. Sweat trickles down brows, mouths dry in anticipation, throats swallow in nervousness and the silence breaks like the catch of air before the crashing sound of thunder that signals the storm. That sends lightning bolts crashing to the earth like the fury of God. A single phrase known only to a select few. A single phrase that would forever change the face of Human warfare.

"Begin operation Fulmen."

The room bursts into fury and purpose at such a simple phrase. They move with newfound resolve and motivations. Tapping away faster at keyboards, bringing up ancient imaging and comparing it with the last to pinpoint enemy locations, yelling inspirations and orders to all field units. Like some symbiosis the men in the field feel the renewing of high command. Shouts of triumph drown out those of pain and grief, glory not shame, victory not death.

"Dana." Johan calls out to the woman bent over a console shouting through a mike.

"SIR!" She salutes briskly, the woman of fear and nervousness a thing of the past.

"Get your men outfitted and ready. You drop in an hour."

"SIR!" She rushes out the room unbuttoning her navy dress, revaling a black tanktop with four words emblazoned boldy on the back

ODST

"Bring up the last known images of all units."

"Coming onscreen... NOW!"

A digital map springs to life with a variety of symbols on it.

>A = Units 1 and 2 (Infantrymen and ground vehicles. Last known strength 60 men and 15 Warthogs)
>B = Units 3 and 4 (Air support. Last known strength 6 Pelicans. Used to be 8)
>C = Units 5 and 6 (Sappers. High explosive teams. Last known strength 50 Men)
>D = Units 7 and 8 (Light Infantrymen. Scouts and asset recovery. Last known strength 40 Men)

>>
"Units 1 and 2 are being assaulted from the south by numerous Insurrectionist forces. They were always going to take the brunt of the attack but this is unprecedented. The men are sturdy and skilled. They will hold. But how long until they're overrun?"

"Units 3 and 4 were to provide heavy air support and resupply. They have the extra ammunition medical supplies and are equipped with air to ground munitions. Their anti-air and jammers have them stranded with no ability to support."

"Units 5 and 6 were to destroy bridges, helipads, boat ports, tunnels, train lines. Everything and anything the Insurrectionist could use to escape. They've been assaulted by a mass of forces and have begun to retreat. They are not infantry. They are simply specialists."

"Units 6 and 7 are our recon and light troops. Reports stated that deep in Tremere the Insurrectionist set up a listening post. Their objective was to infiltrate deep into the city section while other forces provide them cover. Our intel was wrong and they're stuck in it deep."

Johan looks up to you, never leaving his seat of command.

"Where are you, two other Spartans, and three Units of ODSTS led by Lieutenant Dana going 032? A simple insertion, anywhere in Tremere from Orbit. I've heard you Spartans studied tactics since you were- since the age of six. Impress me Spartan."

>I've heard you Spartans studied tactics since you were- since the age of six. Impress me Spartan."
Fuck, but I'm not an actual Spartan!

Priorities:
1. Air support from Unit 3 and 4 needs to be freed-up ASAP by getting the jammers offline, I don't care who goes, but someone needs to get that job done.
2. get the Recon and Light troops from 6 and 7 out, Spartans better suited for the job due to smaller but more elite team, allowing for more immediate and easier insertion to help evac the units. We want the intel they got, and to keep them from getting killed.
3. someone's gotta help with 5 and 6, low priority though since all they need is a good distraction to GTFO.
4. 1 and 2 are the safest units at the moment, and they will be only safer once the Air-support is freed up. These guys are least priority.

Thus, I recommend 2 Spartans at least for the Rescue Op, 1 Spartan for the Jammers, and ODSTs for the evac of 5 and 6.

>Us, and 1 ODST Team. Hot-Drop us in if possible

We'll aid B, We'll need the air-support and the ride so will everybody else sense those supplies will be heading for the front anyway.

>Unit Two, 2 Spartans
Send the them too A We'll need those wheels and Spartan's will need a ride out. They can also cover the open area a lot better then ODST's

>Unit three, 2 ODST squads
Hot drop them directly ontop of C and have them hold. Get the bridge down, and any buildings they need to while ODST cover them, while using that street corner as cover or hell drop a building to get them cover. Rig a few as they pull back.

The plan is simple boys and girls, We punch through with B while A holds and pushes the center with the Spartans.

If we control B then we can get supplies to both A, C and D. However if D starts to get over-ran they need to jump into the water if possible and we can pick'em up. E needs to punch through those buildings if possible or else they are going to die.

I need to know, what type of Air-Support do we have, Low-Yield kinetic slugs to load into our MAC? Longswords on deck?

>>
>>564402
pretty sure recon IS d anon. 1 Spartan is enough.
>>
>>564402
This. A is specifically stated to be the msot experienced and mos prepared of all the group for an attack, while D is going to die behind enemy line without help, they need 2 Spartans as escorts, not 1 as assassin.

>"Units 6 and 7 are our recon and light troops. Reports stated that deep in Tremere the Insurrectionist set up a listening post. Their objective was to infiltrate deep into the city section while other forces provide them cover. Our intel was wrong and they're stuck in it deep."

I'm assuming the deep part means they're in the deepest shit in comparison to everyone else. Given how their objective as to infiltrate deep, I'm not surprised.
>>
>>564417
you're aware Spartans are 'Armies' unto themselves right anon? Plus we're gonna need those hogs.

2 Spartans work faster than 1. D is in the middle of a pretty bad ambush and need the most immediate assistance.
>>
>>564442
>>564417
>>564402
Second/thurding.
>>
>>564442
And 2 Spartans MEANS another area gets fucked worse. We only need one. Not everybody is coming back from this mission alive, no matter what we do.
>>
>>564425
In a straight up fight? against an army? No. I imagine them to be very specialized and effective combatants that can make use of the environment and intel to make the odds go in their favor, as much as they can, using whatever they can. BUT, they aren't truly invincible, and they CAN be killed just like anyone else. The trick is to make sure they're deployed in just enough danger to be not a waste of Spartans, and not too much danger to make it risky enough for more deaths.

Spartans Operating behind heavily armed enemy lines? doable for a single one if just doing sheer destruction and assassinations. But keeping people alive? Whoa whoa whoa, that's way harder than keeping themselves alive, which means at least another Spartan is needed to watch their six ad the people they're rescuing. Do remember the best thing about Spartans was none other than their teamwork, which was unrivaled in comparison to everything else they could do, and they can do plenty. Their years of working together as a team was particularly noted in the books. People like John and us are the exception in that we're lone-wolf type.

Yes and ours is stated as being a Lone-wolf type of guy. So he'd be better punching a hole through enemy lines for the info guys to pull back. You do realize there also isn't enough 'spartans' here to work as a team in the first place sense they worked in pairs of 5?

AND finally ontop of that all, I don't remember the ground forces objective besides killing some asshole and we'd be best dropping into D, clearing a path for them to regroup and then moving on. No need to drag another Spartan along with us in the first place. I hope? that makes things understable from where i am coming at.
>>
>>564458
Also, John is Team Blue leader. Team Blue was critical in many successful operations against Innies and Covies leading up to Reach.
>>
>>564459
And the other half is violence.
>>
Okay so lets streamline this
ODSTs are orbital drop specialist. They can be heavy infantry/shock troops, long recon, asset recovery, and search and destroy troops. They add +1 to all rolls to attached units due to their presence alone.

>ODST Unit led By Lt Dana - Veterans +3 to rolls
Where do they deploy?

>ODST Unit 2 - Experienced +2 to rolls
Where do they deploy?

>ODST Unit 3 - Green +1 to rolls
Where do they go?

Spartans are more specialist yet excell at all fields. It depends what spartans you decide to take

>Jorge - Heavy weapons. Brave and resilient
>Solomon - Close Quarters specialist. Aggressive and Headstrong
>Raynor - Natural Leader. Charismatic and dependable
>Arthur - All around Infantryman. Can fit into any role. excels at none.
Who goes and where do they go?

Spartans receive a +2 at this time, to any tasks befitting their role during operations. They have yet to earn inspiration bonuses

Just randomly chose a number and some Spartans. Don't look too deep pls
>>
>>564474
oh yeah you need to pick 2 sparts if that was forgotten
>>
>>564474
>A, >Jorge - Heavy weapons. Brave and resilient
>B, >Raynor - Natural Leader. Charismatic and dependable
>ODST Unit 1, 2, 3 [And Arthur if possible?] Head to C
>We head to D, [along with Solomon if possible?]

>Says 2 extra spartans come
>LISTS 4
>I AM A CONFUSED SALTY MAN.
Still loving the quest tho BB.

too be fair, John usually isn't deployed without Blue team...and 4 Spartans Plus super luck is an extreme war machine to be able to call in.

Have Raynor Reinforce the infantry men at 1 and 2

Damien and ODST2 can go rescue recon guys

ODST3 can help the sappers

Jorge can assist ODST1 in getting those pelicans up in the air.

Nah blue team is getting briefed on another mission

A(1, 2): ODST 3(least experienced to provide extra numbers to help hold)
B(3, 4): Damien(us)
C(5, 6): ODST 1, ODST 1 (Best vets and Experienced are good enough.)
D(7, 8): Raynor(Leader for rescue), Solomon(CQC for deep-city fighting)

Okay locking in and writing
>>
You stare at the digital recreation of the city sector. Labyrinthian roads adorned the city like an ugly blemish. You can see the men and women at A, entrenched heavily while receiving massive amounts of fire and hitting back just as hard as they're hit. The pelicans at B, weaving between buildings and staying low to avoid unidentified anti-air fire. The sappers at C making a desperate dash towards safety while being hounded by enemy forces. Finally, D, making their last stand hoping to find a hole or fight them off long enough to make an escape.

Each scene playing in your head as you stare at the map. Then you imagine it. The drop of troopers from the sky bringing with them relief, firepower, and resolve. Strengthening their comrades, leading them to a glorious victory. Like the tales of the warriors on ancient earth.

"Raynor and Solomon." You state after watching the last reliable transmission of the raid units. Me and Raynor have a history, But he's a leader and the scouts in the city will need one."

"And, this Solomon?"

"Vicious. Aggressive. Never corner him. His skills at CQC will be valuable to them to punch their way out and assisting other units."

"What about my ODSTs?" Johan sits up leaning on his hands watching you intently.

"We send two of the best units of ODSTs to relive the sappers. Their skill and tenacity should quickly resolve the issue and allow our sappers to apply their skills elsewhere while maintaining their safety. The last unit will drop in and reinforce our main lines. If they break then we have nowhere to retreat."

"I believe you're missing one more factor."

"I'll deploy to relieve the pelicans. Once completed they can either provide fire support or pull out wounded units. They're are the greatest asset on the field right now. We can not lose them."

Johan watches you with keen interest for a moment.

"Get your the Spartans, get to the armoury, gear up and await deployment. I'll send word that you're coming. Go."

With the freedom to move, you immediately turn heel and rush out the room. The wait for and down the elevator is agonizing. Soon it spits you out onto the level where your personal quarters reside. In front of the elevator stands Solomon and Raynor.

"Yo." Solomon greets you. One of the few Spartans who grew their hair back after the surgery. Solomon's most distinctive features are the many dreadlocks that adorn his head. A slight goatee growing at his chin, and a wild glint in his eyes. He stands at the average 6'10.
>>

"This is ridiculous." Raynor sighs. Raynor has looks that can only be described as roguish or handsome. Fair skin, a slight smile usually on his lips, short cropped brown hair. Raynor stands a couple of inches taller than Solomon at 7'2. Right now he can only frown as he looks at you. "As much as I went through trying to get you to listen to a single one of my order I have to follow yours? Is this some a joke?" He says as he steps into the elevator alongside Solomon who laughs.

"I can never tell if you exaggerate the so-called hell you went through or it was a fabrication of your own."

"You know there's an old saying about the name Damien? It means son of the devil. Quite fitting."

The elevator moves down and the three of you stand in silence. By now they must have been briefed on the mission and are up to speed on the details and orders.

>Do you say anything? If so then what?
>Just wait it out in silence and go on.
>>
>>564629
"I'm a spitfire, alright. Ready to crack some heads?"

>>
"The devil fears us which is why he never rears his head around us."

"You sure it has nothing to do with you being his bastard child?" Raynor replies instantly.

"I'm a spitfire, alright." You say completely deadpan. Raynor never liked you and to be completely honest you never really liked him either. Was it his dumb insistence as a child that he was the leader? His pride? His stupid grin? His- "Ready to crack some heads?" You ask realizing you were going to be sidetracked for a while there.

"Always and forever." Solomon replies, battle hunger dripping from his voice.

"I'm ready for you to disappear and ruin the mission if that counts." Raynor says voice dripping with mirth and sarcasm. You grunt a barely eligible response.

The elevator stops and deposits you into the armory. Inside the smaller dedicated armoury, you see about 30 men and women arming and gearing themselves in the kit of the ODSTs. The three of you rush quickly to the weapon racks and begin to pick out weapons and armour.

EQUIPMENT
>Black Body Suit
>+2 to Sneaking rolls
>+2 to Movement rolls
Thermal Masking - Cooling and Cooperative Heating units provide a comfortable environment for the wearer as well as hiding them from thermal imaging.

Automatic hacking - Placing a palm will begin an automatic hacking process. The carnivore program will indescribably begin to download copies of the data and provide you an option to destroy the original upon completion. You are unable to search for any specific data.

Air Tight - The suit is fully sealed and gas tight providing pri=otection from harmful elements as well as enabling EVA operations. The complexity of the suit makes it harder to use after prolonged use and will eventually begin to complicate the wearers motor functions.

Small Arms Protection - The suit's polymer is capable of deflecting the most average civilian small arms. Up to date military gear is capable of penetrating or causing damage from kinetic force.

Advanced Helmet Systems - Enables encrypted communications, provides a basic Heads-Up-Display, Thermal sensors, Night Vision, and motion detectors

Allows two weapons with average ammo for each. Can hold two grenades

>ODST Armour
>Soaks damage to a degree (TBD if ever)
Provides enhanced protection from explosives and weapons fire.

Attachments can be added to any weapon that is not Explosive. Shotguns cannot get any attachments. Saws can get everything but underslung shotgun and grenade launcher

>Bayonet = +1 to CQC with said weapon
>Variable Scopes. (Assist with long-range- Targeting)
>Silencers
>Laser Sight. Helps with accuracy
>Grenade Launcher - 3 smoke and frag nades
>Long Barrel - Increases effective range (Decreases malus to long range shots by 1)
>Stabilization Jets - Reduces recoil. +1 to all shots from any range
>Underslung Shotgun - 10 rounds of shotgun shells

>>564740
You're more used to stealth ops and lone mission but the enemy has numbers, military equipment, and higher than average skill (For Filthy fucking innies that is)

Anyways I get to die now . Next session idk ask me in the morning when I can see color. Adios muchacho. Good job not dying

^ That allows us to be sneaky beekie and also take out any surprise heavy kit we run into. Sense they are REALLY super fucking kitted out for Innies.

HOWEVER if anon's wish to go loud, Might I suggest these goods.

Too many bonuses to not take. Also, we're not here to kill everything anyways, just need to take out Jammers and anti-air and we're good to go, so sneaking and avoiding unnecessary firefights is not a bad idea.

>>XBR55 Prototype Battle Rifle (Medium to Long Range)
>Silencers
>Stabilization Jets - Reduces recoil. +1 to all shots from any range
>Variable Scopes. (Assist with long-range- Targeting)

not sure if all these attachements can be added, but their importance is in order. Silencer to ensure stealth during mission, stabilizer to keep it steady so we miss less, and if possible a scope as well for those long-range headshots.

I'd even consider adding a bayonet, but I figure that would not mix with with the silencer lol.

>>M41 SPNKR (Explosive, Medium - Long)

I can't believe someone else thought about it as well, but yeah, a single shot at long range to kill sensitive but probably armored mechanical targets, is better than trying to get closer and turn the thing off or use close range shots to shoot the machines.

Basically, the strategy is this: sneak around, find targets, kill anyone that's between us and the target, but avoid if possible to keep things quiet. Then, shoot all targets with rocket launcher to accomplish mission of destroying Jammers and Anti-air. Hopefully we don't miss on these shots.

Now Maleficar, You can call QM bullshit on this. But I want to point out. A Gun can have an underslung, A Sight on the top OR side of your barrel, or 2 side attachments and an extended barrel.

Don't you dare try to jew us, I own fire-arms and also read the books.

Because we sneaky and Operator as fuck, allows for EVA madness (you never know)

>M739 SAW (Short Range)
Stabilization Jets - Reduces recoil. +1 to all shots from any range
Long Barrel - Increases effective range (Decreases malus to long range shots by 1)
And now we have a Mid Range M739 SAW

>M41 SPNKR
Because fuck your cover

>2 Nades
2 Fragmentation Grenades

I also chose these because there will be plenty of bodies to take gear from especially more standard stuff.
