We launched two expeditions last time and did a mini-quest about the Barbarian King expedition. The lizardfolk expedition mini-quest will be in this thread, but for now we'll have a turn doing something else - this is so we can get the players in here for the expedition.

Faction: Dragonfist Clan
The Dragonfist clan (originally the Mutt Clan) Used to be a band of goblins and humans raised on the the streets that turned into farmers thanks to Mutt Dragonfist. The Mutt an urchin turned soldier managed to kill a dragon with one punch allowing his clan and his dynasty to be respected among the Roggarians. The Dragonfist Family isn't the richest nor the most powerful but they still are respected after all this years due the continuous effort of many members of the Dragonfist family and because of all the food they produce thanks to their priestly hunters and farmers. Muttville, the Fortress island is still an essential river port of Roggar and all the temples that exist around the Feudal lands of the Dragonfists make their land a place that all adherents to the pantheon need to visit.

Assets: Dragonfist millitia, Dragonfist soldiers, horses, human and goblin farmers, Muttville and it's fortress, Temple of Divata, Smokyton and the surrounding farms,Temple of Zemel, Duchy of the Fork, Altodominio , Order of the Dragon, Priestly hunters and farmers.

In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
Our civilization would have to progress on its own and so for generations we worked the lands, expanded in numbers and territory. We adopted goblin miners, fought dragons and welcomed a demonic warband. Adventures were had, technology progressed as we explored more and more of the world, largely adopting the faith of the New Gods of the Pantheon.
The Second Horde War was a terrible conflict, mirrored by a civil war within our Kingdom - in its process the mighty Kingdom of Paitras fell and our own Kingdom was greatly damaged, with the city of Nayte and its surroundings being anhilated, ending the lives of all our denizen demons.
After the Second Horde War the Norsemen were united into an Empire and we've been fighting them ever since. We've had both victories and losses, with the Ice Dragons being a mighty asset to the norsemen.
We've expanded eastwards into two former provinces of Paitras, but in the most recent years that Kingdom has been reborn under the ruler of Ezgielath, Verigal.

Most recently, the continent is in turmoil as wars are fought on many fronts - together with the Halflings we successfuly invaded the Ishlarg Kingdom to the south, commiting genocide upon its ruling ogres. Paitras is fighting on two fronts, against the norsemen in the North and the Barbarian King in the south, while our own southern provinces are being raided by centaur hordes from the steppes.

Now the expedition from the east is returning, while another one is preparing to journey far south, to the homes of the lizard people.

Expedition story: While Volkmar was walking around the Barbarian King's capital and thinking about how much he hates OGRES he was ambushed by an ogre thug, he put a valiant defence but when the ogre pulled out his fishing rod he was unfortunately beaten and the last words he said before passing out were:"It's just a prank bro."
He later woke up win a tavern robed of all his belongings. For just a moment his hate towards OGRES wavered while he was raging about the ORC but eventually he realised that he still hates OGRES more than orcs but they are now a close second.

Faction: Red Centaur Khanate
The Red Centaur Khanate was born of divergenges with the free centaurs to the south. They joined the Kingdom in hopes of getting away from the claws of their wild cousins to the south. They are united under the Red Stalion, a leader elected by menbers of the khanate to further their interests as vassals inside the kingdom.

Is that good for a faction description?

Fishermen on the Longfork River have whispered of strange things since the destruction of Nayte; now, these whispers are shouts. A swarm of lunatics have settled in the furthest south-east forest in the realm of Roggar.

The first generation were merely magic-sensitive men and women whose minds were fried by the magic unleashed at Nayte; sadly, the madness is all their children will ever know, along with their own myriad of issues, physical and mental.

Following the events within the portal at Nayte Crater, the unusally competent leader known as "Manman" failed to return. Not knowing (or perhaps caring) why, the drug-addled lunatic Barnaby declared himself leader of his fellows.

In the reign of Nick Ashwood, Barnaby somehow became Royal Admiral, and promptly ignited several Yalmfrid trade ships on suspicion of swampweed smuggling. In the year 251 he was imprisoned for decade by reason of arson, and spent one day a week smoking swampweed with a man named Lee, who acted as his temporary replacement. In addition, he appeared to believe he had successfully seduced the halfling Palidi Moxstep, a delusion which she refused to comment on.

After his release, Barnaby exhibited anger issues possibly related to withdrawl due to the long term swampweed reduction, and experimented with various methods to recapture his "buzz". He died in the tragic sinking of Project Weedboat's maiden voyage.

He was swiftly replaced by a shadowy figure with an apparent affinity for alchemy, who was never seen by the rest of the kingdom. He spent his life researching an unknown project; upon his death, the village of Riverhugger celebrated the first ever Timor's Eve.

Not long after, a young man naming himself Thuzad bullied his way into power. Despite his clean and charming exterior, he harbors dark thoughts within.

>D.Attack the Norselands
>H.Other: Help rebellion in the north
First some info from my time up north:
There's no more than a score adult Ice Dragons at present
They ackgnowledge Ledevlast(norse human) as their leader. The dragons gain mana from worship and sacrifice that the Norsemen provide them and in return they bestow part of that mana to norse priests who use it for magic

We still have people inside the norse land. There are some that oppose the dragons, with more support we have a chance at getting some of the people to rise up. Still from my understanding it would have been easier to do this before, but there is still a chance that this might work.

I suggest we go for taking the regions by the sea, going inland would not bode well for us, the terrain is quite harsh. Also it is of great importance that they do not know that we are coming. Last time my father, Knut, was killed when the dragons attacked us at sea...
>>
The People of Rogger are angry. They are sick of not having respect, low wages and little rights. They feel marginalized and left behind compared to the other groups. So one man arrived. A man of great influence who spoke what they wanted to hear. Now The Paitrots have risen and cites would burn and kingdoms will fall in their name

It looks like A & F are favored.
Currently we've raised 12 Legions and 11 Banners(2k soldiers each), who are defending our borders in the north and south - on the northern border it's mostly the troops we left on the home front at the start of the war, while on the southern border the armiy that recently conquered Ishlarg was recently stationed and scored a victory against the centaurs in the defence of Poruan.

So, how do we go about this?

A.Attack the centaurs to the south with our main army first
B.Split our main army between attacking the centaurs and helping Paitras
C.Help Paitras first
D.Send a small force to help Paitras while we focus on the centaurs

Duke Duke Swift-Hands would pass away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 60. He had been the pillar that supported Goboppolis ushering in a age of expansion, faith and wealth. The Temple of Mor was his magnum opus and would stand tall above Gobopolis for centuries to come. In the temple of Mor a great funeral would be had to honor his life and accomplishments. All Roggarians would be invited to attend.

The city itself would be enraptured with celebrations and feasts for the late Duke. Various tournaments would be held to show off the many artisans of gold that worked in the city and a great tournament would be held. The Winner would be gifted a Goblet of Gobbo, forged from pure gold and adorned with jewels.

Rolled 4 (1d5)

Legions 1,2 and 3 did the best in the war and their soldiers gained the most experience and trust in their leaders.
The Fifth Legion suffered the most losses, among them was their original Legate, Finn Hawthorne II.
Adolf of Godric(Inky) - First Legion - veterans
Sinep II(Aristo) - Second Legion - veterans
Volkmar the Grim(Erden) - Third Legion - veterans
Ranger Grandmaster - Fourth Legion
War Councilor(Centurion) - 5th Legion
Trusted Adviser - 6th Legion
Dragonking Hawthorne(Hare) - Seventh Legion
Dragonfist(Mariandale) - 8th legion
Vasentis(through his Regent Gaius Marcellus) - 9th
Whitevayne(Millenium) - 10th
War Councilor(Centurion) - 11
Markolf of Creyl(Dust) - 12

These are the Legates, if you want to participate in the army you could send a character from your faction to be a centurion under one of the Legates - if your Legate dies you might be in line to take his position.

We could leave one or two Legions to guard the homefront while the rest are leading an attack into centaur lands - for that I want volunteers. We could send all the Legions to attack otherwise.

Now, we have a total of 11 available Banners at present, Banners are made up of militia troops and they are usually partnered with a Legion and from their ranks the losses of a Legion are recovered.
I will make a 1d5 roll to see how many new Banners we manage to raise.

Now, we're going to send a few Banners to help Paitras(unless somebody volunteers their Legion for the task). How many should that be?
From One to Ten, vote.

Wolfe Godric will lead the 1st while Duke Bonebiter will lead the 7th.

I'll make the decision now - 5 Banners will go to Paitras(10 000 men), Banners are not player controlled so I'll make a roll for that later.

We've got 12 Legions and 10 Banners left.

We must decide how many will be left to defend the northern coastlines and how many will go south.

Legions are of higher quality than Banners and are player-controlled.

If anybody wants, they can volunteer their Legion to stay on the defense. Otheriwse we could just leave some Banners at home.

Decide on this now, make final preparations, because on the first day of the 5th month of 318 the army marches south.

Our troops entered the open steppes. A large army with a large baggage train, it stretches a large distance and is easy to spot. The centaurs have been evading us, early on they noticed our coming invasion and moved their closest camps away, while our outriders and our supply lines have been constantly under attack in the past week since we entered enemy territory. We haven't faced them in a single open battle yet.

We are approaching Heraclea, the place where close to two centuries ago our ancestors fought against the centaurs in a drawn out and bloody battle with no clear victor.

We need a strategy for this campaign or we'll just run out of supplies without having fought the enemy once.

Blitzkrieg maneuvers. If the centaurs don't have proper organization and just stick to gorilla warfare, we can flank them and encircle them, whilst our troops continue into the plains. Set up forts and camps to hold our troops and foods at random intervals into the terrain. Spread our legions evenly across the front.
>>
>>565669
Also, we need to predict the raids correctly, so let's get some reconnaissance out. They can't be operating without orders.

My plan is more riskier but more rewarding i would say. Mash our Centaurs into one big group and use them to catch the other centaur in an engament, then come with army and flank them. We need to utilise our centaurs and cav to neutralise their speed advantage. The plan thath the others are suggesting is going to prolong this engagement for too long and we have other front to worry about.

Transporting wood to the steppe was the first problem, as little could be found in the area. Then there was the fact that we had to stop, build a fort and continue. It's been a month since we started and the enemy hasn't stopped raiding our supply lines(though they should be more stable now). What we do know though is that they've used this time to move their camps, with all their civilians, further into the plains, while we've barely made any progress. Our main base camp is Fort Heraclea, located near the old battle site.

What should we do now?

OK, here's a very rudimentary plan. Imagine that red line as our border. If we send out troops back to our land, along the plain border, we can send them around the guerilla line of the centaurs, and once fully around, we can encircle them, which our yellow line represents. We split up our legions, some in the forts, some in the encirclement. As their being pushed into a tighter pocket by our encirclements men, our fort men can ride out and join, crushing them and taking civilians as hostages. We just need a broader front to operate better. If we do this rinse and repeat we can finally gain some advantage.
>>
>>565796

>>
>>565799
Okay, so they won't check to see where our army is? Where will we hide it on flat land?
>>
>>565804
For now, we need to endure the harassment until our legion men can encircle. Once encircled, we can continue usual supply routes and have an actual front to reinforce at, supply and have a central command for our divisions.
>>
>>565814
Okay, how will we be fast enough to in circle them, with no supplies and them not noticing
>>
>>565809
There are some forest nearby, the centaurs can't scout deep into our teritory and a roman march can go 20 miles in 5 hours with full eqipment and we are not even 20 miles apart from the forest.
>>
>>565817
Obviously by moving within our borders, which are outside their element. They wouldn't dare risk stopping the harassments, so they'll pay no attention to retreating men. Once fully around them. We can continue encirclement.

We've prayed to the Gods of the Pantheon for guidance.
One day, as the Legates are assembled the leader of the Blades of the Pantheon, the militant religious order we founded almost 30 years ago, speaks up.

"I have recieved a vision from Stoman. It led me to discover a bronze axehead buried in the ground here in Heraclea - it is from the legendary battle that was fought here between our ancestros and the centaurs of the day. This is a holy artefact. We must build a great temple to Stoman on the site of the battle and on its altar we shall lay this Holy Axehead. Our victory will be ensured with Stoman's blessings."

Construction of the temple became our priority, but two days after the decision the priest that had given the idea vanished..his corpse was found the same, yet by the signs of it he had been dead for over a week...
Centaurs have raided us with more frequency and with larger war parties since we started building the temple. One of the smaller forts was set aflame when centaur shamans used their war magics in a large attack, but by the time reinforcements arrived the enemy had withdrawn.

Since the start of the centaur campaign two months ago we've lost 3500 of our original 32 000 troops and we haven't even faced the enemy in open battle. Supply lines are under constant danger and we've been rationing our food for a while now. It is the height of summer and in the open plains it gets very hot, some men have started coming down with some form of fever.

Commander Whitevayne led 3000 men away from the battlefield, headed for Paitras.
The centaurs attacked his column once , which resulted in 300 casualties, but once they saw that he was leaving their lands they ceased their attacks.
This action was authorized by the Dragon Commander, Duke Dragonfist, who is the highest-ranking military official present in the King's absence.

Now it seems the remaining 25 500 troops will attempt to feign retreat, they will try to draw the centaurs in for an attack and turn around to fight.

Commanders of the remaining army, give me 3 rolls and the average is the result.

While the strategy required some casualties, it looks like it's working - we lost a thousand men by the time the remaining forces arrived, but we've got the enemy in a semi-encirclement as our two columns wheeled in their respective directions to turn around and rush to the aid of the rearguard.

The centaurs have attacked us with a force of 17 000, while we have 24 500 on our side.

Suddenly horns are sounded and the centaurs give a rousing cheer as reinforcements arrive, bearing red banners and human skulls mounted on spears - these are the elites, the fighters of the legendary Khan Ebamaati, "The Skullcrusher" - the centaurs of the steppes are not united in one nation, but it is said that this Khan is the first in many generations who could do that, as he is both respected and feared by all other clans.

With his heavily armored centaur elites he charges through our lines as the tide seems to be turning in the enemy's favor.

Dragon Commander Mutt II Dragonfist and his 8th Legion were leading our advance until then and now our Dragon Commander finds himself facing the Khan. The centaurs around him clear the area - it seems this is important to them.

The Khan comes forward and points his spear towards Dragonfist
"Human Khan, you will fight me and you will die. Your men will know despair, your army will know defeat!"

Mutt dodges the thrown spear with ease. The Khan takes another spear from a nearby centaur and charges in.
Mutt lunges diagonally to the left, his sword stabbing the Khan straight in the chest. From the impact the sword is knocked out of Dragonfist's hand and he himself just barely manages to not fall on the ground. As he turns around, he sees the centaur's knees have buckled and he is not moving. The Dragon Commander walks over to him and pulls the sword out of the Khan's chest.
The Skullcrusher falls down, lifeless. A series of horns are sounded, after which the centaur elites reform, take the Khan's body with them and withdraw. Seeing this, the remaining centaurs on the battlefield are visibly demoralised, most start running away as well, though in a less orderly fashion.

It seems the Barbarian King got overconfident after his victory at Sekalath. He divided his forces under his generals and sent them in various directions. In the West the ogres were met by 12 700 Roggarian troops fighting alongside the Free Mountaineers, while in the east the Dwarves crushed the Dovoni army.

The Barbarian King himself is yet to face defeat on the battlefield though. His main force of orcs and minotaurs is occupying the city of Sekalath at present.

In the north, King Verigal of Paitras is locked in a stalemate against the Norsemen - most of the Paitran fleet has been lost and the high elves supposedly only have ships in the eastern sea, from where they come. The city of Archeport is currently the main base of operations for the norsemen, while the Paitran army is camped at the city of Mositan a day's march south.

We've got 11 000 troops stationed on the Paitran Front, with Commander Whitevayne of the 8th Legion being the highest-ranking officer of our military there.

In Roggar we've got 11 Legions and 6 Banners in total, counting both those who fought in the south and those who defended the north.

Our march east was undisturbed, there have been just about no raids on our shorelines and news from the south indicates that the Barbarian King is still contained in and around Sekalath.

It is late summer and we've arrivedd on the frontline - a hellish landscape stretches in the lands that have seen multiple skirmishes and battles. The norsemen control the port cities of Ozdeman and Archeport, while the city of Mositan that lies in the middle is protected on both sides by Paitran forces, forcing the norsemen to rely on their ships for supplies.

We've arrived with 28 000 troops.
King Verigal commands 45 000 men on the western side of the river, while the Count of Mositan defends the eastern side with 10 000 men.
We believe that the norsemen have between 50 and 70 thousand ground troops in total, but they also have the support of Ice Dragons.

It seems neither side is in any rush and that's good news, because it'll leave us a bit of time to rest. It seems we're getting reports from the expedition into lizard lands...
>>
While war was raging on the continent, those who decided to journey to the lizard homelands had an adventure of their own....

Well, this sucks. The ship got into a storm as it was heading south along the coastline, but at least we the expedition members escaped intact, sans a few sailors. Our ship crashed into the coast just south of the Lizan Colony in the Ogrelands.

Also, if you're a sailor you can pick a name for yourself and slap it on. You're someone who's crewed this ship for X amount of time, sailing is what you do for a living, whether you've been doing it for 30 years or 3 months.

We find nothing of use on the beach. One of the sailors decides to get in the water and search there. Nobody else joined him, as within a few seconds he was swallowed up into...something.

Deciding NOPE, we head north towards the lizan colony, arriving at dusk.
The party has almost nothing except the clothes on our backs and some light weapons - daggers, axes, swords. No one's wearing any heavy armor either and we have no mounts.

The colony is filled with activity, with plenty of new arrivals from the homeland and constant construction of new houses and facilities. The vast amount of ogres that were sold into slavery boosted the town's development greatly and the harbor is always busy - it doesn't take long to find a ship headed for Gajaxlan. There's just enough room for our party to squeeze in - the ship is also transporting at least two dozen ogre slaves.

Paying for the trip will be a bit tough though, as we have very little actual money on our hands. We could:
A.Barter away anything unnecessary like jewelry that we have

The weather was great and the winds were in our favour. One day we spotted a beast - a lesser- sea serpent in the waves, following our ship. A sailor by the name of Shishamel grabbed the closest spear and slew te serpent - a tasty dinner for our party.

16 days after departure we see land in the distance - the island-nation Gajaxlan, home to one of the largest lizardfolk cities in the south seas.
Our ship docks in the gigantic harbor and we help escort the slaves to a "Processing facility", whatever that is.

The sun's going down, but the ship's captain is in a good mood and will let us sleep on his ship while it's docked, provided we don't cause any trouble for him.

Our party visits the palace in the morning.

Guards with spears greet us and direct us to the "Waiting room".We take seats on the stone benches there and after a few minutes a female lizan arrives, with a stone tablet in hand. She asks us a few questions - our purpose here, where we come from, how we got here.
"Very well. Proceed to the office of foreign affairs, it is in the main hallway, keep to the right and you'll see a sign showing two clasped hands."

After we eventually find this "Office" we are greeted by a brightly-dressed lizardman.
"Greetings, I am Foreign Affairs Chief Chuxjiab. I've been briefed on who you are, what would you like to know about our great city and what business do you wish to make with it/?"

You attend a public sermon in the Temple Square, pertaining to history.
"In ages past The Old Gods ruled the Mortal Plane from their seats in Heaven with a hard, but just hand. Their firsborn children on the Mortal Plane were the dragons, who made our people in their image through divine power. For many centuries the mortal races of this world existed in harmony with nature and the Gods, before the Great Elven Betrayal, which led to the Great Storm. The Old Gods, in order to preserve the stability of the Planes, fell back into their primordial states of existance and bestowed their roles upon the Dragons, while the Custodians of Heaven and Hell remained in their places to handle the souls of the deceased. Today some in the Northern lands worship those Custodians as Gods, but they are corporless servants of the Old Gods, unworthy of prayer, whereas the Dragons are living, yet ageless beings of great power. Tomorrow those who are doubtful will witness the divinity of Techeneh, our Patron Water Dragon. Praise be upon him and his brood!"

The primary subrace of lizardfolk that inhabit Gajaxlan are the lizan, who are probably the most humanlike in appearance in terms of their general frame. With that appearance they tend to find less trouble dealing with other races and as such the lizan dominate foreign trade, while culturally they are more tolerant towards outsiders.
Another major subrace that we had encountered through trading are the lazdrevk(pictured), who tend to be larger, with more predatorial features, which is reflected in their more martial culture.
What defines the lizardfolk race is that all its subraces can breed with each other, but they can't produce children with any other species. Lizardfolk lay eggs, though in some ways they bear features more common for mammals than reptiles - particulary among the lizan.

We decide to visit the Grand temple on the next dawn. The Patron Dragon of the city will make an appearance and perhaps adress the citizens who attend the great sermon, which is performed every two weeks, coinciding with the new moon and the full moon - it's a new moon right now(evenening).

From start to finish the sermon lasts about two hours. In the first hour the priests read from their holy scriptures, telling the tale of the days of The Great Empire, which stretched across the warm seas and all their tropical islands and coastal regions. In those days the Old Gods ruled from Heaven, aided by their Custodians, ethereal beings bound to the Planes of Heaven and Hell, who help guide the souls of the dead.

The Old Gods created the first intelligent beings on the Mortal Plane to uphold balance in nature - the dragons were the most supreme of the Old Gods' Children, as rulers of the skies, while the lands and seas had their own great magical beigns. The mortal races of lizardfolk and elves built the first great civilizations, while dwarves and gnomes later followed in their footsteps - in those days the humans, halflings and various beast races were still primitive and young. The Great Storm saw a clash between various races and the withdrawl of the Old Gods from their position in the Heavens, later usurped by the Custodians of Heaven who now call themselves "The Pantheon". As the firstborn children of the True Gods, the dragons took on the role to be living gods that guide the mortal races.
The priests talk about the importance of hierarchy and the worship of the Patron, the Water Dragon Techeneh. In the last half hour of the sermon the great dragon makes his appearance - his size matches that of some of the largest dragons our people have recorded. Techeneh appraises the gifts and sacrifices that are presented to him by the Temple and Citizens of Gajaxlan. The people are in awe of his great presence and perform a ritual of loyalty and piety that involves a lot of bowing down. Techeneh assures the people that as long as their faith in him stands strong, their priests will act as proxies for his benevolent will and magic and that the safety of the city and its colonies will be assured.

The sermon is drawing to an end - a select few individuals are permitted an audience with the Great Water Dragon, while others may meet with the priests. We've chosen to meet with the Water Dragon.

Taverns and inns are an important place for lizardmen, where conversation and fun is had. Much of the alcoholic beverages that the lizards produce is completely foreign to your tastes, some of it is poisonous to human bodies in fact. You got kicked out of the slave market after you tried to buy a female lizan, as you had almost no money on you.

The sailor introduced the product to the people of Gajaxlan, who took great interest in it. Apparently it is very compatible with the lizan body and soon you get a letter from a rich merchant, who wishes to purchase bulk quantities of swampweed from this Guild that produces it.

Ledevlast and the ice dragons have enslaved the northerners! As fellow humans we must fight. Roggar was built upon the death of dragons. Our only next logical step is not to go east, but north. We will have the north rise up against the dragons and with them we will make Roggar great again

Send norse strike force by sea. (only bring northeners, so that the dragon can't tell us apart from the enemies) Håkon will also try to get the support of some giants from his time up north. Will use contacts to figure out where it is safest to land troops. Try to rally the northerners to rise up against the dragons, our true enemies! We find ourselves in the No Man's land, a hellis landscape that has been scarred by a year of fighting.

A scout on horse is galloping in the direction of the commanders, who are discussing strategies while the army is on the move.

[green]"The enemy has been spotted, my lords! They number at least 65 000 men and at least 3000 giants and 6 Ice Dragons! The Emperor's own banners were spotted."[/green]

As the commanders are discussing the matter, another messenger arrives in a hurry
"My lords, the Count of Mositan has surrendered to the enemy, his army is scattered and the enemy was already at the gates of the city when I was sent to report! At least 10 000 enemy troops and one dragon are on that front."

King Verigal of Paitras, the greatest hero of their nation's history, who led its revival 30 years ago, speaks before his army, assuring them that the Gods are with us. As priests give their blessings to the troops, formations are assembled. The machines of war are on their positions, ammunition is being distributed, lines are formed. The enemy approaches, the greatest battle of our generation will soon be upon us!
"Men of Paitras! Men of Roggar! Sons of the Pantheon, the Heavens are on our side, victory today shall be ours!"
The Paitran Legions give a rousing cheer, followed by our own. Despite everything, they have an unwavering loyalty in their King.

The King rushes and grabs the falling Dras. Seeing the ensuing catastrophe, he calls to the only other living comrade, Sinep, that they need to retreat.

Sinep the Minotaur looks at the king and shakes his head. To that the King looks stunned for a second, before giving a knowing nod and turning his back, running towards friendly lines while the man on his shoulder screams " Leave me, my Liege, I will only slow you down!"

The King did not turn back to watch, but as he got onto the nearest horse he saw the Ice Dragon raising itself up into the air.

The two survivors of the fight return to the army's headquarters, where the wounded are being treated - the battle has been going on for hours and our side is losing troops faster than the enemy.
Dras shares the fact that he had covered himself in berserker potion liquids for the Dragon to absorb - at least his one solace is that the Dragon ate his leg, thus absorbing that volative liquid. A nearby medic looks up, sighs and says "Dragons...are immune to poisons and diseases"

Out of the 28 000 men that we brought to this battle a third have already fallen, while our allies have lost about the same proportion of their own troops.

In total there are 50 000 men alive on our side against 53 000 on theirs.

Correction:
The Paitran 2nd and the Roggarian 6th Legions sacrificed themselves to the last man to slow the enemy's pursuit of our main forces down. Even so, we suffered some casualties before we made it behind the walls of Dominas.

Of the 76 000 that marched on Archeport, only 40 000 got out alive(of which 13 000 are ours). Mositan is lost and the enemy still has 7 dragons and at least 60 000 troops.

This is a massive military disaster, the scale of which has only been matched by the Massacre of the Frozen Shore for our army and the 2nd Battle of Ostogyol for the Paitrans.

With this ends today's session.
Press F to pay respects, discuss future strategies and whatnot, I'll probably be back tomorrow to continue.

In the days of the old gods some humans travelled south, into the steppes - they were thought dead by most of their former brethren. There they bouth fought against and learned from the centaurs. The many small clans were united into a tribe recently by their leader, the Great Fein, Aapo. They wish to join Roggar for protection against the centaurs, so that they may found a town to call their own in the promised land that their shamans call "Heliski".

The diplomatic party makes its way to Sekalath, where the Barbarian King has taken residence in the Count's Palace.

Around the city a large war camp is in place, where most of the Barbarian troops sleep, while the strongest(mostly orcs) are inside the city.

The diplomats are stripped of their weapons and escorted by elite guards to the Throne Room.

There he sits, The Mighty, a large, strong-looking human, along with his advisers and a large catlike beast at his feet. His hand rests on a long, decorated sword as he looks down upon the envoys.
"Speak" he utters with an authorative tone.

Now something that you may not know is that multiples dragons are Attacking Paitras right now and that if humanity doesn't ally to defeat them all our kingdoms will fall and we will become slaves to the dragons. What we ask is for a truce and assistance fighting the dragons and merely that."
>>
>>574540
I'd like to Point out to The Barbarian King that whilst his Army made Progess if he doesn't pull out now, he'll eventually have to fight the North if we lose , and the North has 7 ice dragon.

"Can there be no peace between our people? There are dragons threating Partias that will threaten you soon enough. They have twice your army with 7 dragons for air support. If you defeat us now your be facing a stronger enemy at your gates. For the dragons do not stop they come coming back for more."
>>
>>574540
"We are envoys from the kingdom of Roggar. We know that your great kingdom has been raiding our lands and has invaded our Paitran allies. However, there is a bigger threat up north than any of us.
The Norsemen, enslaved by the Ice Dragons, brought a great army south, one that does not wish just to conquer, but to enslave. If we are defeated, the Norse will continue going south until they get to you. And then your people will suffer needlessly.
We don't have to fight. There is no reason for war between our peoples, between fellow humans. But even if friendship is not what you desire, you must know that if we don't band together now and push the dragons back north, we all will suffer, be it human, goblin, orc, halfling or minotaur. Nobody will be safe if we don't defeat the Norse army now. And we need your help for that. Or at least we need you to stop attacking us."

What we Offer you is a Chance to come out of this conflict on your own terms Since clearly if you don't, they will and i doubt that you'd be able to fend off all our forces.
It's simple the North Betray you of you betray them, if none betray and make a peace agreement with us you'll fight each-others and i doubt you have more than 10 dragon and 500 giants and a force of more than 100000 mens to defeat them.

Also... There is somewhere else... A city rich and prosperous, but friendless. We can pay for the ceasefire with the independence of the city of Ravlegith."

The Pontiff walks up to the barbarian king, staring him dead in the eye, and speaks, voice low. "You fight for honor, and you fight for the men and women under your rule. I understand who you are, deep down. And I understand that you will not back down in the face of overwhelming odds, because you do not wish to appear weak. Your words are hollow to me; even if you win, many will die. There is no honor in foolishness."

With that, the Pontiff demands a dagger. When nobody aproaches him, he grabs one from the table, ignoring the swords being drawn around him as he slices his palm. "I bleed for my people. Do the same, shake my hand, and fight as one against the cowards that hide behind the rule of flying lizards. We will settle this like men, once the northeners are dust beneath our heels."
>>

Thuzad chuckles darkly to himself, blood trailing across the floor as he walks away, stopping only to spit on the ground in front of the barbarian king and his guards. "Enjoy your 'negotations', fools. Clearly I made a mistake coming here."
>>
>>574707
Ravlegith controls the city itself and the surrounding lands. However, their riches are far superior to those found in much larger lands, like the minotaur hills or some counties within Roggar.
The Paitrans won't sacrifice their men to help them, and Roggar would, in the worst case scenario, just ignore your forces sieging the city.
The Ravlegithers are great traders, but not so good when it comes to war. This helped them be independent with us around, but you are a completely different beast.
Taking the city will be relatively easy, and I'd wager that a man such as yourself would not find it hard to get the support from the richer elites in there. The great amounts of wealth that you could get from the city, and the amounts it would produce later would help your kingdom expand, preferrebly in directions opposite to ours. All we ask is peace between our peoples in exchange.

6 Banners are on the way from Roggar and the Paitrans have also been raising troops, but we've got another problem now.
The Norse have recieved reinforcements from their homeland, reportedly bringing their large army's numbers to over 70 000 - leaving a part to defend the captured territories, most of those went west, towards Prince Veran's positions - the Paitran Prince is hopelessly outnumbered.
King Verigal, his father, is readying his Royal Army - reinforced to 32 000 - to march northwest, to Ezgielath, where the Prince's Headquarters are.

Whitevayne's positions at Hikalith have been reinforced to a total of 20 000 troops, while in the east, near Midenath, the dwarves have gathered 8000 of theirs, while the Paitrans have marshalled 14 000 men - in total these are 42 000 troops, more than the Barbarian King's estimated 38 000 - the problem is that he holds the strong walls of Sekalath.

A.Mass even more forces before beginning a siege
B.Get our two armies together and besiege the city

The Barbarian King's army caugth up to us and an absolute slaughter ensued - he had taken most of his troops out of the city and was personally leading the attack. As the Roggarian army was suffering grave casualties outside the city, the Barbarian King was notified that dwarves and Paitrans have retaken Sekalath.

The news spreads to our commanders as well.
Of the 20 000 that marched into battle we are left with about 13 000 now, while the enemy has 33 000. Sekalath is now retaken by about 20 000 allied troops. Casualties continue to increase. What should we do?

Commander Brutus Whitevayne orders his troops to perform a daring maneuver, to pierce through the enemy lines with momentum and to rush towards the safety of Sekalath's walls!
As his troops form into a wedge and begin their advance, Whitevayne finds himself facing off against the Barbarian King himself! The two commanders, going in close to the battlefield to inspect it and inspire the troops, accidentally met each other and recognized each other's position, accordingly. Seeing that the Barbarian King has stepped a bit back, Brutus eyes his surroundings. He kicks dirt into the Mighty's face, who once again steps back, expecting an attack - meanwhile Whitevayne mounts a nearby horse and gallops towards the lines of his army, which is making a successful breakthrough and escape towards the city walls.
"Another day,friend."Brutus says"Another day"

Thanks to the distractions Commander Whitevayne provided, The Mighty was tricked into abandoning the city and letting the Roggarian forces escape alive(mostly).

All of the Barbarian King's siege equipment was left inside the city walls. He still has over 30 thousand men at his disposal outside the walls, while roughly the same number are within them.

On the next day, scouts report that the Barbarian army is headed south, towards their home territories.
The next week it is reported that they are raiding villages Paitrs' southwestern border regions.

Meanwhile, on the norse front....

With a brilliant maneuver, King Verigal was able to get around the Norse Army and link up with Prince Veran's forces at Ezgielath. There the priests of Domna have erected a warding barrier to keep the Dragons away, which has forced the Norse Emperor to lay a conventional siege - he has 60 000 troops, against the 45 000 that Verigal has(included in which are the 3rd Roggarian Legion).

Verigal is completely trapped in Ezgielath, encircled by norsemen with dragons preying on anyone who leaves the magic barrier. We've lost communication with the city because of that.

Our attck on Archeport was successful and we even liberated Mositan on the way - the High Elves and part of the Paitran reserve helped with that.
Whitevayne's forces arrived in Gregariapol, while in the south the Barbarian King has been ravagin the countryside, moviing into the Duchy of Free Mountains and heading north along the road - he seems to be avoiding large, walled cities at present, but the many villages and small towns in the region are being devastated by his ravaging horde, that was reinforced with fresh troops from the south.

Spring comes and reinforcements arrive with it -15 000 halflings and 3 Banners arrive at Gregariapol, putting the western army to a total of 37 000 troops, while the eastern army has 18 00. As per the plan, the two forces converge at Geddunal, forming a single front of 55 000 and marching south, to lift the siege of Ezgielath.

As we are marching in that direction, all the military of Roggar that is deployed in Paitras stands together(37 000 men). We recieve a report on the status of the siege at last.

Several assaults were launched on the wall and the norsemen kept a tight encirclement of the city. Both sides lost troops to hunger and cold weather, but the defenders suffered more, as they also had to share rations with the city's populace and couldn't get any supplies from outside. About a third of the army that stood at the siege's start perished, while the rest are likey hungry and low on morale - this leaves 30 000 men there, roughly.

The Norsemen are thought to have about 55 000 men and 7 dragons - the one that was in charge of the defence of Archeport fled here.

A.We are in a position of strength now at last - try to negotiate with the Norse, let's avoid further death

A decisive battle will be waged in the fields on the northern side of Ezgielath.

In total manpower the two sides that will face are roughly equal, at 55 000 - the enemy has 7 Ice Dragons though, while we have the defenders of Ezgielath who will be able to sally out and help us.

Say your prayers before the battle, for it will decide the outcome of this war!

It is still only early spring and the Ice Dragons create a magical blizzard with ease, blinding many fighters that are unused to such weather. The Norsemen give a mighty war cry that tears through the blizzard as they advance, crushing our front lines under the weight of their iron, as the dragons join in to blast us with frost attacks!

Reports say there is also a strange norse warrior on the battlefield that fights alone, killing all in his path....

165vs102
Verigal leads his men into the fray. The lines are reformed once more, the enemy is being pushed back, but deep inside Verigal yearns for one thing...
That soon comes to him. Ledevlast, King of Ice Dragons, lands before the King of Paitras, crushing the infantrymen underneath him.
Neither says anything to the other. Verigal raises his flaming sword and feels the blessings of the Gods upon him. This is his time...

King Veran, a man with a gaunt face, exhausted from war and lacking the courage of his father, accepts the peace offer.
Both Kingdoms are required to pay a good amount of tribute to the Norse Empire every year. Paitras has lost several vital cities and many thousands of its citizens.
In the process of this series of wars, Roggar lost between 50 and 65 thousand troops, it is estimated.
We conquered the Ogre Kingdom, secured a truce with the centaurs and with the Norse.

The Barbarian King has reportedly sacked the Free City of Ravlegith, after which he turned back south and has now returned to his Kingdom.

With this, perhaps the Barbarian Crusades are over.
Our armies return to Roggar and are disbanded. Most soldiers who saw combat died. The biggest legends of the war are those who fought in every campaign and survived - less than 4000 such men returned home, some missing limbs, others scarred for life.

One matter that is left for us to attend to is the choice of a new Dragonking.

I've decided to update the old Contest rules just a bit. The candidate rolls a 1d100 for himself and those who support a candidate roll a 1d10 (it was a 1d7 before).

Now, in the year 319 a new Dragonking must be chosen. Candidates, present yourselves and step forward into the Contest.

The races currenlty living in our kingdom are humans(diffrent ethnicities tho), goblins and centuars. Well there are currently a lot of military and trade factions, maybe a tech faction if you plan to make one. Playing as faction is fun and interesting and its the optimal expirience for this civ but you can stay an anon if you want. If you do wish to make an faction then you should read the pastebin in the OP and talk with bulgar(the QM) about what you wish what your faction should be. We can't vassalize Paitras when both of us are vassals to the Norse.
We can try to vassalize Ravlegith, maybe, but I don't know how that would help us now that the city is a looted hellhole.
Then again, that could just be me feeling guilty about the fact that if I hadn't talked about them they wouldn't have been sacked by the Barbarian King.
