>Welcome to PokeCiv. You will be playing as Asher, the leader of the prehistoric Longarm tribe in a world filled with Pokemon.

>Discoveries/Developments
HardStone tools
Oran Berry orchard
Bows and arrows
High quality wood
Gemstones
Skiddo riding and milking
Nets
Wooden palisades

>Known areas
West: Forest, Nectar tree
South: Beach, Ocean, Marsh, Wading tribe village
East: Plains, Swiftfoot tribe village, Lake, Desert
North: Canyon, Caves, Sheer cliff
You return from your trek North with an armful of various gemstones, found with the help of Sableye. You don't know exactly what you're going to use them for, but they look very nice. You could probably use them as leverage in trade if nothing else.

Bron gets the two new Geodude settled in, and tries to get them to warm up to other tribesmen.

You look around your little village. You've got a tribesman fishing for Magikarp in the river, one tending the Oran Berry orchard, one milking the Skiddo, and your hunters have just returned with another kill. Everyone is more than well fed. This kind of prosperity would be impossible back in the canyon, where you were all snatching eggs from nests to survive. Moving out to the plains was truly the right choice.

After showing off the gems to the other tribesmen, who are in awe of their beauty, you think on your next move.

Let's see how dumb this looks

You get a bunch of wood and HardStone in order, then take Rhyhorn with them downstream. You make your way to the beach, at the edge of the marsh.

Sure enough, just like Talcha said, you see a man in the marsh on lookout in your direction. You wave him down, and he waves back before turning in the other direction. After waiting a while, Talcha comes out of the marsh and onto the beach to meet you.

"Hello, Longarm." he greets. "I see you have brought many things. For trade, no doubt. We are always open to fair exchange. Let me first examine your materials, if you don't mind."

Talcha looks over the wood and HardStone you've brought. From his expression, you think he's impressed.

"This is very good wood, we aren't able to make the journey all the way to the forest to get this." Talcha says. "And this HardStone is quite something. We could make many tools from it. I am very interested in trading with you. What is it you desire from us?"

"We've only been able to capture Magikarp in our stream so far." you explain. "If we had other water dwelling monsters, we might have more luck. I was thinking of those leaf headed creatures I saw floating in the marsh earlier. Would you give us enough to raise our own?"

"Ah, you mean the Lotad." Talcha replies. "They are usually very docile, yes. I can give you a few. I think if you gate them into part of your stream, you will be able to handle them just fine."

"Also, we have a few Venipede back at our camp." you go on. "We are raising them alright, but there are times when they can cause sickness with their spine shooting attack. Do you have a plant that can cure this?"

"I understand." Talcha says, nodding. "It is Poison you speak of. Poison type attacks can cause it, and it makes the victim slowly weaker over time. You have to be careful. We have a way to cure it, yes. With these. Pecha Berries."

Talcha holds up a pink spotted berry.

"It would not do for us to leave you to suffer." Talcha tells you. "We will give you enough of these to grow on your own as well."

After waiting some time, some of the other tribesmen arrive with a basket of Pecha Berries and four Lotad. They take your goods, then switch them for theirs on top of Rhyhorn.

"It was a pleasure doing business with you, Longarm." Talcha says, waving you off. "Please come back again sometime."

You take your new goods and head back upstream. You have your tribesmen gate off an area of the stream as soon as you get there, then put the Lotad down. They seem to be content where they are. You also head to the orchard and instruct the tribesman there to start planting Pecha Berries as well. You plan to make the most of these new assets.

With those plans in the works, you decide on your next move.

We need to improve our trapping technology and get the very young helping to domesticate smaller animals.

It'll help increase our active numbers of monsters, prep children for future roles, and the more people we have working with monsters the faster we can learn cool stuff about them.

There's got to be some way we can develop better cooking while we're at it.
>>
>>59890
ah now i remember.

yeah, that's what i said for my move: most of the tribe hangs back and starts doin that stuff with the kids and the Lotad/Skiddo/Venipede populations, while we work on training our skiddo (when it evolves we could potentially explore up north, and definitely get around a lot faster) and finding more gems with sableye.
>>
>>59890
Yeah, from last time there was a lot of agreement on the stuff I've been pushing leading to more smaller monsters like rattata and lotads now that they been shown to be easy going.

After/alongside that is more cave diving and training. Should also trade more to the Wading tribe for knowledge/material and more to the Swift feet for Skiddos since they should also be good kiddie monsters

>Rolled 18: High Success

You decide that it would be best if you gathered more Rhyhorn. Then you could transport more goods at one time.

Before you leave, you tell your tribesmen to focus on figuring out a way to get water to your orchard more efficiently. Maybe you can grow even more berries than you are. A surplus certainly couldn't hurt.

You leave camp with your monsters, and head to the plains. It takes a while to track them down, but you eventually find two Rhyhorn. It might be a bit dangerous to engage two at once, but you're confident. Marowak and Skiddo have proven very effective against Rhyhorn, and you wanted to get extra training in for Skiddo anyway.

You have your other monsters hang back in a more supporting role, then direct Marowak to take care of one of the Rhyhorn, while you command Skiddo to fight the other.

While you were right that Skiddo's attacks are effective, it's still quite a fight. It seems that Skiddo just isn't very powerful yet. If it's possible for Skiddo to evolve, it might be a ways off.

Nevertheless, you manage to defeat both the Rhyhorn after some time. You lead them back to camp, and settle them down with the one you have. They should get used to hauling goods in no time.

In other news, Dart comes back from hunting with a changed companion. His Spearow had evolved into Fearow. Many tribesmen are fearful at its appearance, as it was a terror back in the canyon. But this one is quite tame, having no problems listening to Dart. He says he's excited about hunting bigger game from now on.

Rattata would be excellent harassing elements in a fight or hunt while larger monsters and people attack. They should also be pretty good monsters for kids to start with

i personally think skiddo would be better as the most pushed relationship. kids should develop a bond with their mounts early on, and skiddo can carry kids just fine, just as gogoat can carry adults. skiddo and venipede are the way to having a badass pokemongol cavalry!

>>
>>60134
we got pecha berries last turn for the poison.
YOUNG young kids can stick with skiddo. and lotad, which is like the most docile pokemon there is. older kids, like 10 and up, can start working with the venipedes. you're right that rattata would be less of a loss to the tribe, but could we even befriend rattata in the first place? we can't just catch them, and if we start breeding them then they'll stop being perceived as a meaningless loss. we have lotad, we have venipede, we have skiddo, let's keep it simple.

>>60135
which is why i'm pushing to focus on breeding, domesticating, and training them this turn, and maybe for a few turns into the future! we want as many skiddo and lotad as possible, and maybe 10 venipede for the time being.
>>
>>60225
>but could we even befriend rattata in the first place?

You'll also notice every time I push training the young, it's usually coupled with some variation on 'develop a live capture traps'

That way our regular hunters can start increasing our available pokemon with trash mobs on a more stable basis, rather than when we get lucky on scouting rolls.

I'm never going to tell someone to go hunting down a patrat, but I'd feel better if some of our tribe learned to bond with wild pokemon as well, without having to specifically hand them out.

You make your next move exploring the beach. You've been there only twice, the first time giving it just a glance, and the other on the way to and from meeting Talcha. You haven't really looked at it in depth.

You head in the direction of the ocean, and scout things out once you reach it. It seems monsters don't tend to stay out in the open much here, but you might be able to get the drop on one if you're very careful. You'll leave that for another time, however. Along the sandy shores, you find all kinds of shells. You take a few, since they might be useful for something.

You travel far to the West, following the coast, the forest still looming to your North. After an absurd time travelling, you finally reach the end of the beach. The forest goes all the way to the edge of cliffs over the ocean. Under the cliffs, you think you can see a cove. You could probably reach it by swimming from this beach, but you're already very far from home, and you don't want to go any farther unprepared. You head back with the things you've gathered.

Many of your tribesmen are interested by the shells, and take to fashioning trinkets with them. Perhaps they may have some other use as well.

You think on what to do next.

You remember how hard it was to dig those gemstones out of the cave. If you had specialized tools, it would be easier. So far, you have only made HardStone into clubs and axes. You spend some time and take the rest of the HardStone you have left, and figure out more ways to use it. You make several implements, pickaxes, shovels, hammers, hoes. From now on, you should be able to make basically any tool out of HardStone. Once you go get more of it, that is.

Your tribesmen have started planting the Pecha Berries, much to the relief of anyone with a Venipede. Bron has also seemed to finally get the two Geodude adjusted to following two other guard's orders, so everything seems to be progressing smoothly.

>Rolled 19: High Success

You decide to focus on getting larger herd of Skiddo. When you met Apatma the last time, you were able to glimpse his herd, which numbered at least a dozen. If you can get a few more, you should be set.

This time around, you have your own Skiddo lead you to several others. You find dozens of them, taking a drink at the watering hole. You decide though, that it might not be a good idea to bring back too many. It may become hard to care for them.

You and your monsters round up six Skiddo, leading them back to your camp with no problems whatsoever. You put them in the pen with the others, and look them over. Excluding your own, the tribe now has ten Skiddo. A perfectly respectable number. This should be enough to suffice for your whole tribe. Milk should be a daily staple now, which everyone takes as wonderful news.

Skiddo are easy enough to just guide to your camp and consider them captured, but other monsters are more difficult. And you can't always be around to battle them with your own monsters. You figure that the other tribesmen need a reliable way to capture monsters.

You take inspiration from your fishing nets, and start to work on traps and snares to use on dry land. After a bit of experimenting, they're a success, and your whole tribe is ready to use them to effect. Though they are likely useless against larger monsters, as the nets are not strong enough to hold under their power.

You also take notice that your berry orchard has little trenches for water from the stream to run to now. A basic system of irrigation. This should improve output.

You tell your tribesmen to focus on breeding more monsters from the ones you currently have, then you get your monsters together and head North once more.

After trekking through the canyon, you reach the all too familiar caves. You have Sableye lead you again, this time armed with a HardStone pickaxe. Digging should be much easier.

It is, and you are able to mine a huge quantity of gemstones. Sableye takes his cut and munches it down, and you grab your findings. However, something catches your eye. You take it from the wall. It's not a gemstone, but it is a stone of some kind. You're not sure what. There don't seem to be any more of them in there, so you take your leave.

Now that you have a good supply of gemstones, you just need to figure out a use for them. You think they might be able to be fashioned into trinkets of some kind, or traded as they are. If all else fails, you can use them as snacks for Sableye.

Your tribesmen have taken to using the snares, but monsters have so far eluded them. It seems they will need time to practice.

Sounds like we're going to A down at the beach.

Long Term Goals:
- Send preteens out on magical quests of adventure and fun.
- Stone Structures
- Mounted Scouts trained by Dart.
>>
>>62652
Bring a couple of Skiddo Kiddos down to the beach to woop ass on some water types. or some corralled goldeens/magikarp
>>
>>61968
>>61984
>>62028

You take a closer look at the stone you found in the cave. It's yellow, with a jagged shape inside, like a bolt of lightning. You're not sure what kind of use it might have, but it looks very neat.

After that, you head to the beach again. This time to train. You really want to get Skiddo more experience, and potentially evolve it.

When you arrive, you keep an eye out for monsters. You end up finding quite a few small clawed monsters with red shells, Krabby, and Skiddo defeats them easily with its attacks, which seem to be very effective. You feel like Skiddo is getting a lot stronger, but no evolution yet, if it is possible.

While you're out, you see some monsters flying out across the ocean, Wingull, by their call. You watch them fly along the horizon, and see them land somewhere. As far as you can tell, there's no land in that direction, but it's too far to clearly see. So you wonder what exactly it is they could have landed on in the middle of all this water. Your only hint is a tiny dot on the horizon. You almost think you see it moving along the water, but put the thought out of your mind and head back home.

i support this with the addition that we investigate this honey so it might help us with raising the venipedes. and if we find more venipedes (which i'll roll for) we should try to bring them back with us! the ryhorn can come with us for lumber too, and bring back a big load to maybe expand our village!
(plus don't forget the rest of the tribe hanging back and refining breeding practices!)
>>
>>62767
>>62774
>>62807

You feel like Growlithe hasn't gotten a lot of attention lately, so you head out to the forest to do some special training with him.

You make your way to the nectar tree, and after making sure none of the monsters nearby are as dangerous as Snorlax, you begin. All the monsters around the tree right now seem to be very weak to Growlithe's fire attacks, so the battles all go by easily. By the end, Growlithe seems to have gained a new ability, to wreath himself in a swirling flame and run at the enemy.

After training, you take a sample of nectar. It may be useful for training Venipede in particular. Unfortunately, it's not something you can have a regular supply of. The trek this far into the forest makes it unfeasible, not to mention the monsters that could appear at any time. It might be possible to harvest regularly in the future, but for now, you let it be.

Back at camp, your tribesmen are overjoyed. It seems that a Skiddo egg has been found in the pen for the first time. Your idea of a self sustaining herd is becoming a reality.

We should experiment with Magikarp and try and learn more about its exact abilities.

Having a Gyarados would be badass as fuck.
>>
Here's a crazy idea: can we try cutting off part of the nectar tree and planting it in the orchard? Can't you do that with like mulberry trees or something? it'd be weaker than a proper seed tree but it might get us started. Hell if anything, it might bring in bug pokemon that we can slaughter annually or tame

It would depend on exactly how intelligent Magikarp are and how well we treat it, imo.

If it's dumb, then no matter what yes. But if it's not dumb, then it'd be a great thing to intimidate the desert tribe with if they ever show up.

I think this idea. Plus dedicated still water will probably make raising magikarp easier, so we should focus on it next turn.

Better if we can cultivate some pond food stuff . Which would be easier if we could study what animals eat at the watering hole.

You spend some time at the camp, focusing on making a more appropriate habitat for the Lotad. You dig a section out of the ground near the stream to make a calm pond, then put some plants moved from the marsh into it. The Lotad seem to really enjoy it, and before long, you find another egg. You'll probably be able to get your own small population of Lotad going right here from now on. You also put the Magikarp in there because why not.

One day, Largo comes back from the forest with the Rhyhorn, but no lumber. He's clutching his shoulder and seems to be in pain.

"I was shot, chief." he pants, once he can sit down to rest and explain the situation. "It wasn't a monster either, I was hit by an arrow. Humans from the forest did this. I don't think they want us there."

This revelation concerns you.

Well clearly now we have to investigate the forest.
Growlithe should be effective at tracking, and if we're alert, we should be able to handle what happens when we find them.

Probably should bring some Pecha berries for trade.

See you tomorrow when you update again.
>>
>>64324
whoa whoa whoa
we'll get our asses kicked if we do that, that's their home turf
lets stay out of the forest for a bit, at worst go to the edges to find venipede, and then once we're more powerful we can figure out what's what.
>>
>>64366
We're not going to resolve this by waiting for them to completely demonize us even more.

It'd be easier if we had some form of shared written language, but we need to attempt parley before things start to fester.

And we've got Growlithe on point and Sableye to cover our back. If we can confirm if they're just paranoid or actually a threat now, what ever happens next will be easier.
>>
>>64418
if we go into the forest we will be attacked. bad luck could spell disaster. this is not a problem we can trade away, and while i agree we need access to the lumber, we can't go in there blindly. we at least need a group of trained warriors, and even then, we *don't know* what they have. they could be more advanced even than the desert tribe. what if they have a fucking...sceptile, or serperior, or shiftry, to say nothing of non-grass types. we'll be fucked!

You decide that this can't be let be, and gather some of your tribesmen. Together, you all head to the forest, near where Largo was attacked. It's quite a bit North from where you've head into the forest before to reach the nectar tree.

You brought some things that you'd hope would be useful for trade, just in case you did meet members of another tribe.

After reaching the treeline, you wait a while, calling into the forest intermittently. It takes a long time, but you eventually get a response. In the form of an arrow. It doesn't hit you, but whizzes by you before hitting the ground.

"You are not welcome here, outsiders." you hear a voice from up in the trees. You look up the see three men standing on the branches of trees, each holding a bow, and with green monsters with red stomachs and leaves on their heads and wrists next to them on the branches. "We will not let you fell the forest's trees as you like. Our tribe has been trusted with the sacred duty of protecting this forest by its guardian. There is nothing you can say to us, nothing you can give to us, that will sway us from this mission. You will cut trees here no longer, or face the consequences. You have been warned. We will not be so lenient next time."

You go to stop them, maybe try to negotiate, but before you can even try to get a word in edgewise, the men and their monsters instantly disappear. You didn't even blink, but they are gone. There was no movement, the trees didn't even rustle. It's almost as if they were never there at all. You have no idea what could let a person move like that, but your concern only grows. In this situation, anyone you send to gather wood is likely to be harassed, or even worse, killed. And fighting this mysterious tribe on their home turf doesn't sound too appealing either, but as long as they remain this hostile, you can't imagine taking any more lumber without resorting to force.

It's quite a conundrum you're in. Your tribesmen are still in awe of the other men's disappearance, one even claiming that they were ghosts. You decide to head back to camp and think this over for now.

mine some more gems while the tribe fucks around with the gems and shells we already have, (and continues to breed things) we need some kind of export goddammit.
should we go to the swiftfoot or wading people, we must go with proof that we are still valuable trading partners

although i mean

we really aren't that valuable right now without the wood

this isn't over by a long shot, but for the time being it seems the forest is off limits, at least as a source of lumber. we could potentially catch pokemon there still, but i wouldnt risk it.
>>
>>71644
as for how to solve this problem, i only have one idea, and it's a stupid one: we somehow bait the desert tribe into fighting with the forest tribe. i can't imagine how we'd do it--they're so far away from each other--but it might be the only way to stand a chance against either of them. if we covertly initiated conflict between them and then came to the aid of the forest tribe, they might relent and allow us our lumber supply again. Also, the combined might of our two tribes might be enough to take out the Desert tribe.

what we can't do is burn down the forest or whatever to smoke out the tribe, because that would mean we'd lose our wood supply, hundreds of intelligent living things would die, and we'd likely get a pretty bad reputation from it. if the desert tribe were to make such a move, we could solve all our problems in one fell swoop by using that moment to take out the desert tribe once and for all.
>>
>>71668
Problem I see with that scenario is that it involves the Desert Tribe our east attacking the Forest Tribe to our west.

It's a good plan if it didn't involve the Thunderdome Tribe rolling over us entirely. It be a great plan if we were the forest tribe. We don't even have a great spirit backing us up yet.

>>71644
I'm going to back this one this turn. We have some more mining tech, we should use it.

Heal up, and prep for combat one way or the other I guess. if we keep logging, we're going to war, and we still have to deal with the desert menace eventually.

-
Side note: We need some one to document our discoveries of monster on monster violence. Art seems like it would be a good advancement for the future.

Perhaps later we can start leaving gems for the forest guardian. We can take the stone, which the forest people don't have, and build a shrine, and offer gems to the guardian as an offering.

The forest tribe clearly doesn't have authorization to let us harvest wood.
>>
>>71723
like i said, i don't have any clue how we'd do it but i'm sure we could find a way (maybe temporarily relocate to the mines?).

and i mean i can't think of any better ideas, can you?

>>71723
we don't want to go to war any time soon. not only do we lack the resources, but we've got no chance in the forest and they aren't coming out. since removing the forest is not a question, we need to come up with a better idea. like i said, the only way we can safely assault the forest tribe is if we're not the ones doing the assaulting. it would take a lot of planning and strategy, but i think we could make it work somehow. can we start brainstorming ways to bring the desert tribe to us, and then to the forest? once we get there the forest tribe should take care of the rest, and will likely be forced out in order to fight properly or to avoid causing damage to the forest or being hemmed in should the desert tribe have fire at their disposal. Either way, we join their side and then with their help we can bring down the desert menace, and then hopefully we'll be able to have a healthier relationship with them.

and yes. we need art. i want pictures of the Lotad garden ASAP.
>>
>>71460
>A
Honestly, we should just go to the desert and talk to the desert tribe. We don't even know that they're dicks- that's just what the Swiftfoot tribe told us. Maybe the Swiftfeet are lying, and the desert tribe could be a great ally to us. This might not be the case, but we at least need to find out

There are 15 people or so in our tribe, they sent three members of theirs, all armed with bows, and multiple roughly three foot tall grass types.

Your plan involves beating superior numbers at a height disadvantage via pure stupidity.
>>

Not only that, he is risking in burning the whole forest, which won't only end us beeing hunted by the forest tribe, we could also be antagonized by the swiftfoot tribe for ruining such important resource.

DESU I didn't realize how retarded that was since we don't have any water type pokemon to put out the fire with. I am retarded
>>
>>73056

We have a few lotad available. The water pokemon is not the specific part of the plan I have issues with.

My specific suggestion was to attempt to contact the forest guardian later on. Avoiding a war with the forest seems like a good start, seeing as our first contact was them attacking us, and the first attempt to communicate was rebuffed with a threat of future violence.

Seriously, we don't have good relations with anybody. The only people who seem to be slightly better than tolerant with us is the marsh tribe.

Changing my vote this turn from >>71723.

We have an abundance of food for right now, lets invite the Swiftfoot tribe to a feast. No strings attacked. We might have to help the hunters bring down a Taros, but maybe we can change the political game.
>>
>>73228
I agree.
>>
>>73228
OR, or, while we're having this feast, we could have Dart and a couple others go look for the desert tribe to talk. Cause if the Swiftfeet weren't at this feast, they might see our people going into the desert and question that. So yeah, we should send Dart to the desert while we feast with the Swiftfeet, and just have him tell the desert people about us, and learn a little about them
>>
>>74695
No.
No water pokemon=no chance to survive in the desert.
We won't go into the desert until we have a couple of water pokemon strong enough to keep us all alive in it; which, coincidentally enough will also help us be able to fight the sand people.
>>
>>77160
actually, a member of the lotad line might be one of the best possible pokemon to handle the desert. Maybe we should train one.

You decide to let the matter of the forest rest for now, as you can't think of a good way to negotiate nor to fight them at this time.

You arrange for Largo and the Rhyhorn to start heading up to the caves instead to mine for gemstones and HardStone. You need to make sure you're still gathering resources that might be useful for both trade and use at home.

With seemingly hostile tribes to both the West and East, you decide that there needs to be a change in the political situation. As it is, you have no one that can firmly be counted as your ally.

You make your way to the Swiftfoot camp and find Apatma. You tell him that you are planning a feast, and that all the Swiftfoot are invited. No strings attached. You just want to show them all a good time to ease tensions and bring your tribes closer together.

At first, Apatma is hesitant, but you and all your tribesmen are able to prove your earnestness. You give a couple of gemstones to them as a show of good faith. Apatma relents, saying that he will give your tribe one chance.

In preparation, you head back to the camp to join the hunting party. You accompany Dart and the other hunters out to the plains, and with the combined might of you all and all your monsters, you're able to get fell an entire small group of Tauros you find, six in total. More than enough for a grand feast.

You all bring them back to camp and begin preparing them in anticipation of the Swiftfoot arrival. This feast tonight may be your chance to make a huge step forward.

>Sorry I flaked out on you guys for almost all of these three days, didn't even reach 200 posts. A lot of things came up and took more of my time than I expected. Next time I make a thread, I'll be sure to do it when I don't have so many obligations that could get in the way.
