Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. You are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy. The year is 285AC, two years after the Rebellion and a year after your return to Westeros.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

“Novice Daith?”

“Yes Maester Benjin?”

“Fetch the scroll we have been working on since my arrival. A fresh quill and a bottle of ink, if you would.”

Nodding you begin to pick through seemingly endless scrolls, tomes, and parchments that have collected upon the desk since his arrival in Oldtown. Maester Benjin was a well respected man and you had been honored to find yourself assigned to his tutelage during his stay. Whilst unraveling a scroll that turned out to be something far from your comprehension regarding the Summer Isles you watch the door swing open gently and the two dusky men that had accompanied Maester Benjin stroll in. Eyes quickly press to task again, nervously avoiding making eye contact with the mountains of muscle yet incredibly grace. Your hand quivers as you pick another scroll, the chill running down your spine as it always did when they began to speak in their tongue with the elder man, such a beautiful language, one you were so hopelessly unaware of and that Maester Benjin spoke with such command and poise it only served to make ou feel inadequate. Nerous hands allow the scroll to slip loose, unraveling as it falls from your hand and knocks upon the table with a loud thump, drawing attention to you and silence falling upon the room.

“Novice, have you found the Malroy scroll?”

Eyes frantically look up and down the paper, for a moment forgetting to read, what the letters of the common tongue told as they were put together in your mind. They come upon the title, a hard lump being forced down again in your throat as you clear it to speak, “The History and Times of House Malroy, c. 283AC until present. Yes Maester Benjin I have.”

The man ruffles himself up as he goes to stand, taking a proffered hand from the shorter of the Summer Islers, his chian wears heavy upon his neck you observe. Most prominently the three links of silver clink together against that of green bronze and yellow gold, silver you knew, silver you desired, the metal of medicine and healing, Maester Benjin’s speciality one you very much assumed he would be receiving the vacant Archmaesters position for in the coming months. The taller of the two men gives you a hard stare and you find yourself looking away in a panic. You can feel their stares as you scramble to gather the rest of the items requested of you and taking up a position behind Maester Benjin, a poor shield against their stares yet one all the same.

“Very well Daith, as we walk reread what we have written thus far. I will correct any mistake and expound where necessary if I do so feel necessary. Understood?”

“Yes Maester Benjin.”

He nods for the two Summer Islers adding another line of dialogue between the three in their foreign tongue before allowing them to set off, with him and yourself not soon after.

Words yet again begin to come to your lips, the writing in your own hand easing the nervousness in your tone into a smooth spoken word, “A brief History…

House Malroy of Steadhold was founded upon the conclusion of Aegon’s Conquest by Ser Aeson Malroy. A renowned commander, the former Master-of-Horse upon Dragonstone, and man of the old blood of Valyria. As reward for his services throughout the years to the newly made King Aegon I Targaryen he was given the former lands, titles, and incomes of House Rollingford. Constructing upon the castle now known as Steadhold upon his former warcamp where the God’s Eye Road meets the Goldroad along the way to King’s Landing. The Malroys are famed throughout the Seven Kingdoms for their horses, a breed of golden coursers said to be as old as Valyria, their prowess upon the field and military might, and their stalwart loyalty to the Targaryen Kings. Malroys have served as Kingsguard, upon the Small Council and married to House Targaryen over the years allowing their influence and renown to grow far beyond the Crownlands.

Robert’s Rebellion…

House Malroy of Steadhold stood by the Targaryen Kings of old during the Rebellion now known as Robert’s Rebellion that took place from late 282AC to the final days of 283AC. The Lord Vamos Malroy and his wife, Lady Esemella Hayford served as the Head of House during this time of turmoil and upheaval. With him served his eldest son and Heir, Ser Donold Malroy, their third born son Ser Pastorn Malroy, and only daughter Lady Isis Malroy. Ser Dontos Malroy, the Lord’s uncle, served in King’s Landing and later upon the field in the Reach and Stormlands as a commander under Lord Mace Tyrell before being recalled to King’s Landing and later Dragonstone. Their second son, Brynden Malroy, lived in self imposed exile in the Free Cities of Essos during the conflict. Lady Isabella Malroy, the Lord’s sister, was the wife of Lord Luther Benedorn, Head of House of House Benedorn of Benedorn in the Stormlands.

Ser Vance Redward the loyal vassal of Lord Vamos Malroy and the Knight of House Redward also served the Targaryen Kings of old. He had no issue beyond a single baseborn son, Royce Waters.

Lord Vamos Malroy, Ser Donold Malroy, and Ser Vance Redward were deployed to the Riverlands. Partaking in the Battle of the Bells. Under Lord Jon Connington’s command. And the Battle of the Trident which saw the death of Ser Donold Malroy and Ser Vance Redward and grievous crippling of Lord Vamos Malroy due to the betrayal of the latters aforementioned baseborn son, the now Ser Royce Waters…”

“Betrayal is harsh word,” one of the Summer Islers interjects as you take down a gulp of air, “Will they not look down upon you for such description?”

“Perhaps Solhas Za,” Maester Benjin responds, “But perhaps someday history will see it as betrayal. Rather than loyalty. My task is to record history as it was not as is correct in the current regimes eye.”

The dark man smiles slightly, “As you say, Maester.”

“Continue Daith.”

“Lord Vamos Malroy was brought home for treatment. Ser Pastorn Malroy, the new Heir, taking up the defense of Steadhold. While his mother, Lady Esemella Hayford, and sister, Lady Isis Malroy stayed in the Malroy Villa in King’s Landing under the protection of the recently recalled Ser Dontos Malroy. When the forces of House Lannister and the Westerlands were finally roused during the conflict they swept in from the west upon the Goldroad, garrisoning Redwatch Tower and Steadhold along their way to the capital. Though this is where disaster stroke. Not a day after the Sack of King’s Landing, including the death of Lady Esemella Hayford and the supposed death of Lady Isis Malroy, Steadhold was sacked, the garrison betraying their hosts, leading to the deaths of Lord Vamos Malroy, Ser Pastorn Malroy, and much of the remaining Malroy host. The Outer Ring was burnt, the walls cracked and destroyed by siege engines, the stables depleted from war and theft and the castle ransacked and left in ruin. Ser Royce Waters had helped to lead the Sack it would be said later, his knowledge of the town and castle from his youth serving the Lannister forces well as they snuffed out the last of the known Malroy main line. In the following months Ser Dontos Malroy would be reported dead upon Dragonstone and House Malroy was considered all but extinct.

A new King, a new Lord…

Upon the conclusion of Robert’s Rebellion saw King Robert I Baratheon crowned and Ser Royce Waters raised up from a mere Knight and legitimized as Lord Royce Redward. Though it would remain a secret for a time, Lord Royce Redward was given the hand of Lady Isis Malroy, a requested reward for his services to the Crown, having no other known family to give her hand away it was granted by royal decree. Lord Royce Redward would begin to press a claim to Steadhold, not content to his father’s tower in the Princewood. Though just as the proclamation was to be made to reward all former lands, titles and incomes of House Malroy to the new Lord, a man thought dead reappeared. Ser Dontos Malroy arrived to court, his arm in sling, his temples greyed, half the Knight he had once been and petitioned the court for an audience. Though thought to have returned home to press his own claim to the seat of House Malroy it shocked the court to learn there yet was another main line Malroy, Brynden Malroy, the exiled second born son of Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford, who yet lived in the Free Cities. A stay was granted to Ser Dontos Malroy and word was sent to the Free Cities in search of this last son, recalling him home to take up his birthright. And upon the first month of 284AC, he arrived. A ragged man of a sellsword look and canter, a cadre of men that once served alongside him in the Second Sons, and a baseborn son Victus Waters.”

The second Summer Isler speaks in his tongue and Solhas Za laughs, a deep bellow that causes you to tremble and stop abruptly before speaking, “Barq Zos says your description is lacking.”

“Barq Zos would be correct Solhas Za. ‘A man filled with spite and rage. So much so he would strike out against his own kin. Hatred burnt in his heart and dripped from his eyes like tears of wildfire. He was not in King’s Landing for his birthright, he was there for revenge.’ Words I wish to speak yet are not appropriate for a proper history. Daith, continue.”

“By royal decree Brynden Malroy was raised to Lord of Steadhold, claiming his birthright and putting an end to outsider claims. Alongside this came its penalties for his family’s loyalties to the old regime. A portion of their income was taken every month as reparations, a war time debt as it were. A proposal of Petyr Baelish, one of the Master of Coin’s, Gilmont Redwyne, advisors who went on to apply it liberally amongst the Lords of the Crownlands. Alongside this two thirds of their coursers were claimed, another war time debt to replenish the Crown’s stock and devastating the Malroy’s famed bloodline. Their domains had been halved, the southwestern most being given to House Redward, leaving them with only their primary domain. The interim Master of Law, Lord Antwyn Jast, counseled the military might of House Malroy was far too strong than was necessary historically and particularly with such a proximity to the capital and thus a limit was decreed, allowing them only six hundred armed men, and five-and-twenty Knights at any given time. And lastly, a priceless heirloom was given over to Lord Royce Redward, a spoil of war. A part of Lord Baelor Malroy’s dowry for his marriage to Lady Malaesa Targaryen, and one of the yet still upon official record, a dragon’s egg. This left House Malroy with little income to fall back upon, even less to rebuild with, and no back up in which to turn to. The House had faced its doom, and through sheer blind luck lived by the thinnest of threads. Outrage and unstill tongue served against Brynden Malroy, the Queen taking personal insult by his underlying word and the men he brought with him in service, Ser Mason Flowers and Solhas Za Tarbeck. She added more upon his debts, and attempted to lower his maximum military strength, angering the Lord further with her unlawful attempts to saddle him with more. Though perhaps luckily for Brynden Malroy the Hand of the King, Lord Jon Arryn stepped in, aiming to resolve this issue in a trial upon a later date.”

Pausing your recital for a moment as you’re escorted upon a boat and find seats you take in the crisp seabreeze and the unmatched beauty of Oldtown. A far cry from your home in the Westerlands where craggy stone and brown sand were the normal and the only smell from the Sunset Sea was that of the wretched bloody Ironborn come again to raid and kill. You did not miss home you considered, Brachenhall was a long way away in both measurement and time, your father, a Knight of House Drox in service to Lord Garrette Brachen had died many years ago and you had little purpose in those halls, Oldtown was home for now, and perhaps someday a Keep far beyond would be as well.

The Summer Islers leave off for a moment you notice, meeting with a third, fourth and fifth of their kin to speak in their own tongue away from prying ears. Maester Benjin settles himself next you, looking like a fat grey chicken all ruffled up as he so often was, his face was still kindly, though lined with age and wear it still managed a smile that could put you at ease, “Novice Daith, from where we left off.”

“Yes Maester Benjin,” you reply, tearing your eyes from the sights of Oldtown, allowing it to linger upon the Summer Islers for a moment too long that brought rose to your cheeks and finally landing upon the parchment, searching for your place and beginning again, “Rebuild and Restoration…

Lord Brynden Malroy was quick to begin his work in rebuilding the Malroy’s incomes and estates. Though devastated and with half the infrastructure it once had Steadhold was still a formidable castle and the heart of the region. Neighbours and former allies now watched his every move, making their own in laying claim to the outlying domains and lands his reach would not yet extend to. House Langward made a bid for a once shared land to the north, known as Hemgrove, a lightly forested area the Malroys and Langwards had shared for timber. Knowing his need was great he quickly gathered the political clout and forces necessary to claim the lands himself, circumventing any further attempt at his House’s legal claims. A necessary action that set precedent, the new Lord Malroy was not to be trifled with, though young and widely considered an upstart he was a man of serious intent. Threats from local banditry were made from Hemgrove, a grisly warning of a bag of mutilated smallfolk’s heads being delivered to his seat. He struck back with a vengeance, take with him a small army of his mounted archers and recently raised footed archers to stamp the brigades out and thus solidifying his hold on Hemgrove.

During this time Lord Brynden Malroy received the first of his marriage proposals, House Celtigar of Claw Isle under the rule of Lord Ardrain Celtigar sent his son, Ser Wilson Celtigar to begin dialogue and with invitational to a Claw Isle. Though at first a welcomed advance from a fellow Valyrian Lord it was not a long friendship, word came quickly to Lord Brynden Malroy’s ear that House Celtigar wished to use the marriage as way to indebt the Malroys to them, becoming their vassals in all but name through alliance and payment of their debt to the Crown. Enraged the Lord Malroy severed all ties, leaving the young Knight and his foolish plans to go around his father to no reward and once more striking out alone. Marriage was a necessity he knew, but it was not worth allowing his House’s fallen star to be owned by another. Instead he rerouted his interests, focusing on refinancing his House’s debt with a Free City banker, Nararo Aros, a representative of the Bank of Bays in Pentos to something far more manageable. Alongside this he rekindled his alliance with the extended family of House Hayford taking into service Ser Wesley Hayford, his cousin, and opening trade and agreement of mutual aid once more between the two equally hung low Houses. And lastly, with help from a tome discovered in the Malroy Villa thankfully left unharmed, he began to rebuild the Malroy’s horse bloodline with the help of his Master-of-Horse Gawen.

Upon the sixth month of 284AC the Tourney in Celebration of the King’s Marriage was held, and Lord Malroy’s trial with the Queen was to be had. With little in the way of knowledge of the law, and with a case against him that far favored the Queen, Lord Brynden Malroy demanded a trial by combat intent upon fighting a member of the Kingsguard himself. Though when asked who his champion would be his uncle, Ser Dontos Malroy took the role upon himself against the Queen’s Champion, Ser Boros Blount. The trial was to be held upon the opening of the festivities and the crowd came out in droves to watch the Champion of White square off against the Black Knight. Perhaps it had been unknown who Ser Dontos Malroy had once been, that he was considered a Knight beyond reproach once, a man of Faith and skill at arms, that the reward of a place upon the Kingsguard was once upon the tongues of those who would see such done. The trial was rout, Ser Boros Blount was floored within a single pass upon their horses, and beaten down to first blood with little answer to Ser Dontos Malroy’s flurry of sword blows in the footed melee that followed. The crowd was agap yet roared for the Knight, he took his leave with a simple bow towards the King and Queen’s box and thus won the trial for his nephew.

Lord Brynden Malroy, not a man of the lists, partook in other activities throughout the Tourney. Primarily among them an amazing victory in the Archery Contest. Years as a sellsword among the Second Sons in Essos had honed his ability with the uncommon recurve bow, and he quickly dismantled the competition with perfect scores in most of the early rounds. He found himself in the quarterfinals against a man at arms of the Reach, Curtis Flowers, whom he claimed victory against in resounding fashion and in the finals against the courtier from the Summer Isles, Jalabhar Xho. The competition was fierce and went down to the an overtime of sudden death, the Summer Isler missed his final shot, and Lord Brynden Malroy took home the victory with his own and a considerable prize. He also took part in the Melee, a losing effort in the middle rounds against teams of House Greenfield, House Dondarrion, and House Redward. Though this did little to hamper his spirits, an alliance with House Longwaters that saw the younger twin of the Knight of Long Isle, Ser Lucas Longwaters come into his employ, and an invitation by the Hand of the King to act as part of the peace mission with Dorne in a few short months, all had helped to bring his House back from the teetering edge of death and back into glory.

Once returned home, Lord Brynden Malroy went on to make considerable strides in improving Steadhold’s lot once more with his. The Outer Ring began to make a comeback, parts being rebuilt and occupied by the smallfolk, craftsmen, and traders once more. The Sept that had once stood there was rebuilt, and Lord Brynden Malroy sent a trusted ally to Essos to retrieve a man that would give his military might an exotic edge in the way of Myrish crossbows. Though time had been limited until his departure, Steadhold was left with abundance and under the guidance of Ser Mason Flowers as acting castellan as he awayed in Dorne.

Of Dorne and marriage…

Lord Brynden Malroy had grand intentions while he stayed in Sunspear. Meeting with Lord Quentyn Qorgyle and befriending the Lord in an attempt to sway him towards peace at the Hand’s request. Though perhaps the trip will be more remembered for what it had brought to light rather than the good that came of it. The stories and lies he had been told since his arrival home, even by his own unwitting kin, that his sister, Lady Isis Malroy had been long dead came to true light. She was not dead, far from it, and she was being held by Lord Royce Redward, as his wife, his wife who was with child. And though he seethed with rage it was from done. An attack in the city the surrounded Sunspear by assassins sent from across the Narrow Sea by those yet unknown left the Lord with a grievous injury that near crippled him for a time.

And to finish, an act by the Hand of the King that the Lord Malroy would feel as a personal betrayal, though history will remember as an act of selflessness in service to the Realm in speaking towards his unwavering loyalty to the King and Queen of the Realm. Lord Quentyn Qorgyle, who he had persuaded to his side through acts of mutual respect and competition, proposed marriage between their Houses. Lady Obella Qorgyle, his sister, married to Lord Brynden Malroy, as an act of mutual agreement to the peace that would follow between Dorne and the Crown.”

“That is far from truth Maester,” Solhas Za speaks from across from you, “Lord met the Lady in King’s Landing at celebration of his victory. She was dancer, entertainment, she won his heart through competition, not through pact of marriage. She had far more hand in their marriage than your history gives credit.”

“And history does not remember the deeds of women, particularly those Lords and Ladies of the Realm would believe . Of those who stalk shadows and act upon the words of another. Lady Obella is far from the brief description I have given her here. But a tome of history, I yet write, I will remind.”

He shrugs in response, “As you say, Maester.”

“As I always say. Daith?”

[Chapter I-XX]

Alright, so I’m going to continue this in a moment. Figured I’d get the thread up and going before getting into another hour of lateness.

For those that don’t know A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest, is a quest that takes place in the world of ASoIaF using the SIFRP ruleset with some modification for ease of questing. For the first fifty threads it was exclusively a /tg/ quest and has just recently come off a ‘brief’ hiatus. In the OP you will find links to the archives, my ask, and twitter for all your curious needs that are not sated by the ‘brief’ recap given here. Also the Masterlist link is to all relevant files, such as Character Sheets, House Stats, Military units, various character and House Dispositions and a very, very long House History document that is not necessary reading but includes a lot of lore and history of House Malroy, as well as the current Household, descriptions and etc.

This thread is an introduction to those of /qst/ yet unaware and a recap for my players that followed over given the hiatus had left some holes. The history given above is imperfect given the narrator has flaws and Benjin is mostly trying to keep this neutral and on the whole is to serve as a brief catch me up on the big plot points for those who don’t want to read my fifty threads of really REALLY long posts, though I would definitely encourage it for those interested in participating fully. I am going to start taking some Questions now, while I begin work on the second part of the recap.

So without further ado, I’m The Father. And welcome to House Malroy Quest.

Poor Giselle. Even gets omitted from the official history.
>>591697
I'm surprised someone noticed the canon fix. That one was somewhat obscure. For those unaware, in Iron and Hate, Gilmont Redwyne is the current Master of Coin, whereas Petyr Baelish is currently serving in Gulltown. I made the mistake of naming Petyr as Master of Coin in the beginning threads, so it was a slight canon problem between the two quests. The fix is Petyr is an acting advisor of the current Master of Coin, and Brynden not knowing any better assumed he was the Master of Coin, rather than the interim one for the day he was brought before the court.

Also, come on. Had to get some gay lust for the Summer Islers in there. Nararos Aros can't have all the fun.
>>591723
Poor Illiad. Man I have a lot of gay lust going around.

It was good though. Very busy, very much needed though. I could feel myself getting burnt out and it was hard to sit down and write. Kind of sort of. I have upon occasion attempted to figure out a way to do so that could be considered "easy". I've used a lot of Houserules alongside with the OOSP and homebrew holdings providing resources to utilize in maintaining a "minimum upkeep cost".

In the end it looks like a lot more work than it's worth for the few people that would enjoy it. AEQ did something similar with all of its excel stuff and barely anyone gave it a passing glance. So I wouldn't want to introduce such a mechanic knowing it wouldn't get a lot of useful play and would likely be more of a hindrance to both old and new players.

Well off the top of my head:
>Kill Lord Linden Langward
>Blackmail the Faith using the Blount people you captured into annulling the marriage between Royce and Isis
>Get enough Power to land Mason
>Get enough Lands to get Small Town and get enough Wealth to get Market or Port to ward off smallfolk riots and food shortages for good
>Help the Longwaters out with their Pirate problems
>Have Sareya Vollion help you deal with the Iron Bank and get the egg back from Royce's people or at the very least out of the equation
>Have more children
>Throw a birthday party for Victus

I think that's all the major ones.

>Capture Redward

An option that is always on the table, indeed. Wesley is doing a much better job getting things back on track than Samuel was. Granted it would cost some coin, or a trade but it would be a viable solution should things go south.

And yes House Malroy does keep some stores there. A family thing really. Given House Malroy is a military House first and foremost the marriage to a production House like Hayford was mutually beneficial for all.
>>593049
I mean that's a point. But you have a wife that is in no particular rush to reach five children. Seeing as she has things to do outside of being a babymaker after all.
>>593072
It brings me joy. And Obella less than.

>>593153
Not entirely true, by my standards at least. Without another male heir, it would be more or less a situation where you have to marry down, rather than up. If you married to someone that had less influence, an Essosi courtier, or was just a Knight or something similar the children would take the Malroy name. Harry the Heir has a somewhat similar situation. It just isn't a position you want to find yourself in as a Westerosi Lord in anywhere but Dorne. It lessens your influence and other Lords take advantage of it.

We can't, not really. Dad's a stickler for canon, and Sweetrobin is pretty much doomed to being a pussy for the rest of his life. Depending on the temperament of our child though, they could at least be friends if nothing else.
>>
Father. How would Donold compare to Brynden as a ruler. What would he think of the choices he has made and what would he had done differently ?

It's apples and oranges really. Donold wouldn't have gotten into the sort of situations Brynden would have. He would disagree with about 90% of the things Brynden has done. Objectively, Donold probably would have been the better ruler, seeing as he was born and raised for it.

>>594104

>>593478

In addition to the SOL of lady Obella trying to find Brynden's trunk and maybe enlisting Victus's help in doing so (maybe even getting trolled by the Sons of Gold)

Can there be one where Dontos is getting worked up by his fiance (i forget her name) and is doing everything in his power to not lose his cool and eventually manages to turn the tables on her?
>>
Hey Dad you don't need two archive links, suptg does both boards in the same place now.
>>
>>594155
I think your right on that apples and oranges analogy. While I agree Donold would be the better traditional leader since he was born and groomed for at as the firstborn, I still think Brynden has come into his own and done like amazingly well for a second son who had no interest in statecraft. He may be no Donold, but Brynden has done well on his own merit if nothing else.

>>594286
Brynden really has. He's definitely not the best ruler House Malroy has ever had, but he is doing the absolute best with what he's got at present. He does a lot of things out of necessity for the situation, and in terms of the House he's making it work. As things calm down Brynden seems to calm down as well and work on making his House and its seat what it should be. In the end, what history remembers him as is yet to be seen but on this current track, he's doing pretty good.

>>594307
Well he's not the best at keeping himself distant from his family. Obella is his niece and is very happy to see her married to a Crownland Lord. He knows how she is, and knows she's up to some nonsense.

And yeah, there are a lot of recruits about to come his way. And he appreciates that immensely. A House with a strong relationship with the Watch is a House worth being amiable with.

>>
>>594511

I have an idea Father, or multiple Ideas rather.

Malroys have always been stalwart defenders of the crown (under the Targaryens). However, we don't want to isolate former Targaryen loyalists that were former allies of ours before the rebellion but at the same time don't want to piss the crown off by allying with them.

Could the Nights watch be used as a political tool by us? By helping fund and supply the Nights watch, we both show that we are willing to help defend the realm (and maybe even support the Current crown) but can still garner closer loyalties with Targaryen loyalist houses without incurring crown wrath.

That is still a long term project. We still need to first open up the trade lanes with the Cracklaw point lords, invest in their infastructure, drive out the bandits/pirates infesting their lands, and invest in the Cavanersi (?) merchant/privateers, as well as our own lands. I'm thinking once we get all of that done, we could start sending some small annual funds and men to the Wall to help them out.

>>
>>594584
Well I mean there are men that serve House Redward, about 900 of them. Knights, men at arms, men that serve an evil man, do they deserve death for who they serve?

And then there are Langward and Blount men to think of. Households, smallfolk, etc. It really depends upon how badly you want to ruin some motherfuckers. It wouldn't be ridiculous to assume you clear fucking house on Redwatch Tower and Bolthole Hall after all things are said and done.

>>594600
I think it's a little out of the scope of reality to be honest. House Malroy has a lot of rebuilding to do before they are at that point where sending funds, men, etc. to the Wall is a viable situation. Remember House Malroy is still in debt for the next 18 years. Depending upon how the deal with the Iron Bank goes down, things might get worse, might get better. It just isn't the most intelligent way to spend your money.

Not to mention it's out of character. Brynden has been stated to believe the Wall protects from nothing more than wildings and things to scare children before bed. The only reason he has a good relationship with them now is because of the influx of men and the marriage. When Jeor Mormont comes into power it will be quickly forgotten.

At most you'll get some brownie points out of it. But the south doesn't care about the Wall. Hell King's Landing just let's them raid the dungeons every once and awhile, they make no effort to even supply them on under their own power.

>>594621
>>594661
>>594673
This is the truth. As of right now. Jessamine and Camelia Redward are legitimate trueborn daughters whether you like it or not. Isis acknowledges that they are her children and she loves them for who they are, not of what their father was.

Brynden can choose to ignore that. Discount them as family, even if it goes against his Motivational trait, Family. He can make them bastards if he wants to when he makes an attempt to annul the marriage. But you lose a lot of political advantage by doing so. And Isis wouldn't be happy.

I know it's going to be a contentious vote. And a very messy thread when we get there. But people have to understand the ramifications of the situation. On both ends.

>>594741
That's not true. I have stated, out of character. That Obella doesn't expect Brynden to fuck other women, not that he cannot. But if he did, she would take it as a cue to continue using her own sexuality when on spy missions. Obella is just arrogant enough to believe Brynden wouldn't want anyone or thing else after he had been with her. Which thus far, despite my best attempts, seems to be true.
>>
>>594774
>Its a Valyrian thing
Thats all we need to say the Dornish were loyal to the Targaryens so I doubt she'll be that against it
>>
>>594600
We will be forced to thread the needle what ever way we go. I doubt the watch will be that useful, not many southern lords give a fig about it.

>>594662
Ah i remember you. Sis wants her kids, sis gets her kids. Bryden can just do the awkward uncle dance.

I still think him marring a redward is probably the best option, he gets to become a minor lord(with the added benefit of getting to fuck his cousin, like a true Valyrain) and we get to marry our bastard upward. How does Isis feel about Vicus? Would she consider a 'possibly sometime in the future' betrothal between Vicus and one of her daughters at all?

They're legitimate heirs to a house, after all; no matter how much we dislike the present incumbent. If we don't give Redward Isis back, then there's no chance of any future legitimate heirs for him outside those daughters unless *HE* anulls the marriage and looses his strongest claim.

Whilst Vicus is a bastard in the eyes of Westeros, no matter how legitimate we consider him. Setting aside the heir to Redward for him would give our eldest son a name, a title, a house.

>>
>>594950
I think that's the only reason Royce works as a pure evil villain in the world where grey enemies are the more common fare.

He works entirely against Brynden's two primary traits. His Motivation, Family. And Vice, Vengeful. It is close for him, he doesn't know how to handle every situation in this fucked up mess with tact and grace because emotions are immediately put into it. He has people telling him one thing, I love them, they are valuable political pieces, etc. in one ear. But in the other hears that they are not his family, that he would do anything to extinguish the line. Those are both viable viewpoints for Brynden to have, even if one side seems irrational to the other. And that is what makes Royce a good villain, it isn't his inherit being, hell Brynden thinks so little of him he laughed in his face the first time they met. It is that Royce's actions have triggered every one of Brynden's emotional responses at once and that is what makes him irrational and act out of order or dangerously. Or gets him killed.

She loves Victus, but as others have said she would be aware of the age difference. It is pretty significant. And she is aware that politically, it would be a good move. She would still worry about all the ways for it to potentially backfire.

Also if Victus took over the House he would end up using his own name, rather than the Redward name as they would be all but extinct and he knows his father wouldn't want to see future generations of Redwards kicking around. He would just pulling a Baratheon basically.

>>594961
Well depending upon who you side with, it might not be anyone here doing the suggesting.

She was sweet on him, because he's a charming little guy that didn't care she wasn't the attractive woman she would grow into being. I think that's the thing she'll remember the most. Handsome little valyrian boy being nice and charming to little chubby pock marked Arianne. That might make her blush.

Let's not bring that here, please and thank you.

This thread was not suppose to be a quick thread at all. Very much and informational one and one to get people out and jog some memories. These aren't story updates, only recaps.

And I've always taken about as much time to update as Soma as it was anyway.

because they are the children of a man has done Incredible amounts of evil to Brynden's family, to say that there would be no Ill will towards them at first would be incredibly naive and/or odd

they aren't victims beyond say that of circumstance and mislaying the blame with the massive amounts of hate towards redward isn't exactly something thats impossible for Brynden

You are also forgetting that they are the children of our sister as well. We hate the redwards and love our family, but these redwards are our family. I refuse to hate them and I want to believe that Brynden would choose his family over vengeance.

“Melees, Weddings and Tourneys-”

Maester Benjin hold his hand up, and you silence in a moment, his eyes seem to be watching something far beyond your scope. Solhas Za and Barq Zos both turn, their kinsmen taking notice as well. Eyes fall upon the former’s hand that flexes and goes for the goldenheart bow slung around his shoulder.

“That won’t be necessary Solhas,” Maester Benjin says in the common tongue, “Men always follow.”

“They follow too closely,” Solhas Za responds in a deep tone, eyes still unremoved from the banks.

“Yet by foot. Have Barq Zos tell the Captain to take us to the Citadel, the Weeping Docks will suffice.”

“As you say, Maester.”

You lean over with a certain nervousness and whisper into Maester Benjn’s ear, “Are we in danger Maester Benjin?”

“No more than I have been before Novice. It is by the Seven’s grace I have lived this long given the men I served. You may continue, Daith.”

Sitting back you wring your hands out cracking a few knuckles and find your place again, “Melees, Weddings, and Tourneys…

Month IX, 284AC. Lord Brynden Malroy, finding his forces to be lacking holds a Grand Melee in Steadhold’s newly renovated Tournament Field in search of the most able Knights to add to his power while remaining within his Crown imposed limits. Alongside this he added Myrish Crossbowmen recruited locally and beyond, more mounted cavalry, and infantry forces to round out the garrison, archers, and mounted archers he had previously raised. Knights from near and far attended the Grand Melee. The Crownlands, Westerlands, Reach, Riverlands, and Vale were all represented amongst the lists. Twenty were chosen, primarily among them Ser Wesley Hayford, Ser Lucas Longwaters, Ser Jon Pryor, and Ser Titus Sarsfield. Though in the end it came down to Ser Lucas Longwaters and Ser Jon Pryor, the former winning in excellent fashion to become the Champion of the Melee, Captain of the Steadhold Household Knights.

Lord Brynden Malroy did not partake in the festivities rather he had entertained his numerous guests of varying import. Among them were a delegation from Crackclaw Point, Ser Dustin Brune of Brownhollow and Lord Clarence Crabb. Historically the Crackclaw Point Lords had a less than stellar relationship with the Lords of Claw Isle. Throughout the reigns of the Targaryen Kings the Crackclaw Point Lords were protected for their loyal service to House Targaryen. Though within the recent years old promises have seemed to falter, House Celtigar growing restless under the new Baratheon King and thoughts of old claims began to resurface. Knowing the Lord Brynden Malroy had had a falling out with Lord Ardrain Celtigar they approached hoping to solidify an alliance with another Crownlander and bolster their defenses in what was assumed to be an invading force in the coming times. Lord Brynden Malroy agreed to these terms, building the beginnings of the Crackclaw Point-Crownland Alliance, House Brune of Dyre Den and Brownhollow, House Crabb, House Cave, House Pyne, with House Hayford as another participant upon House Malroy’s request. An alliance built upon trade agreements, infrastructure support, mutual military aid, and marriage between House Hayford and House Brune of Dyre Den.

However this agreement would not come to pass under the at the time Heir to House Hayford’s command. Ser Samuel Hayford, the firstborn son of Lord Winston Hayford, was far away in disagreeance with the alliance, he had seen his family hung low by following the Targaryen Kings. Allying with known Targaryen Loyalist seemed a fool’s errand, his father and brother’s loyalty to House Malroy was worth less than what it had been built upon. Alliance with known Loyalist… It would be their end. Ser Samuel Hayford had taken another route, allying himself personally with Lord Royce Redward, agreeing to aid in his task of ending House Malroy. He was promised coin, land, the ability to recoup what House Hayford had lost fighting for the Targaryen Kings. He took it. And it was his undoing. Perhaps in his mind he knew it was folly, that his cousin’s unending desire for vengeance would hardly be stopped by his small stroke. He saw the world ready to bend towards his cousin, only that their had been good since he returned, that his House had only gained while Hayford had lost. It drove him mad, insanity wracked his mind, whispering seeds of doubt into his ear. And it broke him. Near the end of the Grand Melee he attacked Lord Brynden Malroy in a foolhardy attempt upon his life, screeching and bellowing that he did not deserve the blessings bestowing upon him, the love his family bore for him, the prizes he had won even in greater sacrifice. Ser Samuel Hayford was stopped, and taken to trial where he demanded a trial by combat. Lord Brynden Malroy took it upon himself to oblige the request. The affair was short marred by further tragedy as Ser Samuel knowing his life was short made an attempt on Victus Waters’ life with poisoned dagger, in response the young boy had unsheathed his own in defense, it lodging into his throat as he flung himself at the young boy. It was soon learned that another had supplied him with the poison to take his own life with, and that Ser Horace Hogg had a hand in supplying it. With the damage done the Crackclaw Point Lords agreed to put off the official signing of the Crackclaw Point-Crownland Alliance until a later date, perhaps the Lord Malroy’s wedding in the coming months. Lord Winston Hayford fell into a grave depression and Ser Wesley Hayford had the title of Heir thrust upon him, and the fate of a House subjected to both doom and madness to contest with.”

Maester Benjen allows you to stop as you reach the Weeping Docks, it would seem the Summer Islers’ kinsmen are joining your little party, you could feel a dampness against the back of your neck. The day had been cool, yet in your robes you sweated like a pig, nervousness having gotten the better of your bodily functions. Barq Zos waves you to follow and you can feel your lower lip tremble and your eyes scatter to the floor as you nearly trip.

Maester Benjen gives you a queer look causing your face to flush as he shakes his head hopelessly, “Come come Novice. I have need of you only for the next few hours. As you are ready.”

“Y-yes Maester Benjen,” you respond shakily, attempting to regain your footing and finding place upon the scroll once more, “Rewards for service to the Realm…

Lord Brynden Malroy had been promised a reward for his loyal services to the Realm by the Hand of the King. Truly a great boon for any House, others would have been simply content to have gained a marriage such a high profile, though not this man. The new interim Master of Law Saul Cromwell, was tasked in aiding House Malroy with the more difficult legalities of their penalties. Their military limits were less restrictive, a standing army of a thousand strong and fifty Knights were now allowed. Beyond that excessive word of Lord Royce Redward’s poor rule of the Malroy’s former domain had finally reach the ear of the King, having little desire to deal with such a petty thing, Saul Cromwell was asked to find a solution. House Redward for their gross negligence was stripped of their two recently gained domains, both of the Princewood and House Chelsted’s Branton. A grace period of six months was given for House Chelsted and Malroy to reclaim their lands from the banditry that had over the forests. And it was at this hearing of court Lord Jon Arryn extended the olive branch to House Malroy once more, admitting the poorly kept court secret that Lady Isis Malroy yet still lived and openly inviting for her to attend her brother’s wedding with his wife, Lady Lysa Tully. Lord Brynden Malroy had seemed steeled in his resolve by these happenings, knowing he had family that yet still lived, it remained unknown if had seen her, but it would appear all it took was knowing. Lord Brynden Malroy returned to Steadhold with war in his eyes. War against those brigades that occupied the Princewood, his family’s ancestral domain. His assembled war council agreed to take the battle to them with haste, immediately following the Lord’s wedding the following month. Though this time was not all of peace and readiness, an attempt on Ser Mason Flowers life was made by a saboteur in service to House Langward. A botched mission that led to her capture and House Malroy beginning to form a case against Lord Royce Redward’s ally, Lord Linden Langward.
>>
Month III, 285AC. House Malroy has held a long relations with the Reach, Riverlands and Crownlands, marrying from and to them. However, a Malroy has never married as far abroad as Dorne. The marriage between House Qorgyle and House Malroy served to bridge a large gap between the Crownlands and Dorne, and years past of conflict and of the more recent restlessness between new Baratheon Kings and Dorne. Lady Obella Qorgyle brought with her delegation of Dornish Lords and Ladies, included the Princess Consort Lady Mellario of Norvos and the Princess Arianne Martell. The delegation from King’s Landing included Lady Lysa Tully, and Lord Malroy’s sister, Lady Isis Malroy. It is here Lord Malroy learned she was with child, and due soon enough. Her children would be born trueborn heirs of House Redward, as the law of the Crown superseded the rights of the House Malroy.

The wedding was a lavish thing, allowing for a moment of respite between the constant struggle and battle Lord Brynden Malroy had come to endure. They married within the newly made Sept, overseen by Septon Tytos, in the Light of the Seven. In celebration a Tourney was held, with five champions to defend to honor of Lady Obella Qorgyle. Ser Lucas Longwaters, Ser Dontos Malroy, Lord Quentyn Qorgyle, Lord Archibald Benedorn, and Ser Wesley Hayford. Ser Dontos Malroy bowed out of the Tourney early, after receiving a demand to ride against him for the hand of Lady Alexes Chelsted from Ser Cyrus Chyttering. A tilt that last only a single pass as a well placed lance by Ser Dontos Malroy and a fumbling unable Ser Cyrus Chyttering caused the latter’s incidental death. Ser Mason Flowers would go on to replace him in the coming days. Though at the end, it was Lady Lysa Tully that took home the honor of the Queen of Love and Beauty, a seemingly odd result.

During the week long festivities Lord Brynden Malroy say to a few of the looser ends regarding his dealings with the Crownlands. The Crackclaw Point-Crownland Alliance was signed into agreement with Lord Eustace Brune, the head of the Crackclaw Point Lords, his daughter, Casana Brune having been agreed to married Ser Wesley Hayford, by his own designs and ability no less. Ser Dontos Malroy married to the widowed Lady Alexes Chelsted not soon after, allying House Chelsted with House Malroy against the Princewood banditry and for the coming Invasion. Lord Brynden Malroy also agreed to aid his allies House Longwaters upon the Narrow Sea, piracy having become a problem and disrupting their trade agreement.”

Having reached the entrance to the Citadel Maester Benjen stops and has a quick look about the stalls the Acolytes had opened for the day. Finding nothing of particular note and fancy he carries on, his guard of Summer Islers make sure to give any other man cause to keep a safe distance. You nearly run into one as you follow closely behind, your face turning into a flushing mess when he gives you an odd look. Maester Benjen pulls you close and places a small scroll into your hands, “Novice Daith. That is all I need of you this evening. I will return in the evening, by then do be sure to have transcribed the Invasion of the Princewood and we will be finished as far up as I am aware. Stop by the Isle of Ravens along your way to the apartment and have this delivered, to Steadhold if you would.”

“Yes Maester Benjen.”

“Maester?” Solhas Za questions, “The Conclave is ready to see you.”

“Very well Solhas Za. Tell Barq Zos and the others to wait outside, and we will go in for the presentation. Seven be good and we will be done with this soon. Good day Novice Daith, and excellent job. Your skills are ever improving.”

“Thank you Maester Benjen. The best,” you say and watch them leave off. Solhas Za turns in a flourish, his feathered mantle of black, purple and gold flourishing over his shoulder as the others follow him. A single feather of gold drops from it, and you pluck it up quickly, placing it in your breastpocket as you watch them leave a moment longer than you ought. Your mind wanders for a moment to a place it should not and you feel the heat in your ears before dashing off to catch the ferry. A single copper allows you passage to the Isle of Ravens, yet you deposit three back to the city. Nervousness begins to settle in again as you clutch the scroll tightly and finger over the golden feather attempting to steel your nerves.

The ferry delivers you to a seedy port of town and you make leave for the nearest inn, a place called the Twady Tower. He said he would meet you there at dusk. He promised it would be the last time. He promised to leave you alone to your studies. He promised… Mind wanders aimlessly as you look about the tavern for him, he is not here, you are not late. Best to have a drink, calm your nerves.

“What’ll ‘ave lad?” the barman asks as you take a seat.

“Nothing. He’ll have nothing,” a strong voice comes from behind sending chills down your spine and goosepimples rising upon your arm, his hand claps down upon your shoulder and you can feel his breath upon your ear, the smell of drink hung upon it, “Isn’t that right lad?”

“Y-yes m’lord…” your voice eeks out, and you nod nervously at the barman who is giving you both a queer eye, “Nothing, sir. Thank you…”

“Suit yerself lad. Ger, you?”

“Another, if you would.”
>>
“Dun know ‘ow you drink dis swill,” he says passing a cup of thick black liquid to the man behind you, his grip hadn’t loosened upon your shoulder, and it had begun to hurt as he digs his fingers into it.

“Come now lad,” the man says, finally allowing you free of his grip after a long swig, “I’ve our room upstairs. Just where you like it.”

You nod slowly, brushing the golden feather with your thumb in your pocket as you follow after his drunken stagger to the second floor. He ushers you into the room and indicates for you to sit upon the bed as he takes up a wooden stool across from you, takes another deep swig of the tar like drink and stares at you intently, a drip falling from his lips to his sharp chin.

“I told you at dusk lad.”

“I’m sorry Ser. Maester Benjen took his time today. I could not simply lea-”

The strike against your cheek elicits a cry of pain from you as you fall upon the bed, the contents of your robes and arms scattering the floor below.

“I TOLD YOU DUSK YOU BLOODY CUNT. NO EXCUSES.”

“I’m sorry Ser Gerion... “ you sob out, from a fetal position, “I’m so sorry, please forgive me… It was worth it I swear. The Maester gave me a scroll to deliver to Steadhold.”

His arm was raised to strike you again though his eyes fell upon the floor where the tiny scroll sat among your things. He licks his lips and sits again, picking it up and unraveling it. His eyes scan over it slowly, you watch from your huddled position on the corner of the bed before he pauses and frowns deeply, “Sit up boy.”
You do so.

“Read this,” he hands you the scroll and you clear your throat. It was not wise to insult Ser Gerion of his inability to read you had learned.

“Ser Mason Flowers,

My days grow shorter and I am unable to respond as quickly as I would please. By the time this arrives to Steadhold I assume our Lord will have made for Highgarden. I am glad you were able to get ahold of your brother Ser Olymer Tyrell, in lieu of yourself he will make a fine ally in these trying times. I will be attending the Tourney myself, hopefully the added security of Solhas Za and Barq Zos and the Steadhold Knights will be able to ward off any other attacks. As requested I was able to find and recruit a Knight by the name of Ser Nathan Norridge and veteran men able to ride for our Lord’s protection and army, I will be bringing them along as well. Lady Elionwy has access to my recorded incomes for the next few months, be sure she is able to aid Lady Obella if such comes to pass.

Seven preserve you, Maester Benjen.”

“Is that all lad?”

“Yes Ser Gerion, that is all he gave me.”

“And the history scroll?”

“Completed Ser.”

He scratches at his jaw, sharp and angular, it made his face look comely you always observed unless he frowned, as he so often did when above you, “Read me the rest. The Invasion was all you had left was it not?”

“Yes Ser…”

“Then read.”

“The Invasion of the Princewood…

Month IV, 285AC.
Lord Brynden Malroy alongside his allies, House Hayford, House Chelsted, House Longwaters, and House Qorgyle set to war against the banditry of the forfeited Princewood. The first battle occurred at night, Lord Brynden Malroy ambushing the camped bandits setting their makeshift base to flames and easily winning the day. The second was along the Goldroad, under Lord Quentyn Qorgyle’s command, they came upon the checkpoint used by the Highwaymen to collect ‘tolls’ and ran them through with mounted men. A third was a days long endeavour to the west near the town of Branton, Ser Dontos Malroy and Ser Raymun Chelsted sieging out the more fortified of the three outlier camps. Ser Wesley Hayford performed a sweep across the Princewood, encircling the main camp of the bandits in the center for when the bulk of the forces arrived. Lord Brynden Malroy was the first to enter the main camp, a forgotten hall of years long since past, by night sneaking into the enemy’s maw as it slept in a daring night raid upon the confession of a captured Captain of the now named bandits, the Bright Banners, an Essosi sellsword company. He swore the man they were after would flee at the first sight of conflict, and kill or bury any evidence to prove their illicit acts and ties to House Redward. Upon entering the crypt where supposed slaves had been kept Lord Brynden Malroy, Ser Mason Flowers and Ser Victor Haigh encounter several cages of men, women and children, as well as the man trafficking them, had stayed, Tano Osten. The fought a quick and dangerous battle in those tombs, Osten nearly escaping before being run down by the Lord Malroy and put in fetters. Freed the men and women confirmed they had been enslaved, people of the Princewood rounded up and forced into slavery by Tano Osten. Yet they did not know to whom he served. All ties led back to House Dargood, where Tano Osten had posed as a false distant cousin to gain their allegiance and aid from the elderly Knight of the dying House. Failing to uncover much else Lord Malroy made for the Dargood camp, convincing them to lay down their arms for a cause that was not their fight any longer before the collected Malroy forces bore down upon them in the morning.

Led by Ser Dontos Malroy, Ser Lucas Longwaters, and Ser Mason Flowers the attacking force swept over the camp in the early dawn, scattering the Bright Banner men and running through any that dared to stand in opposition. Lord Brynden Malroy went after the Captain of the Bright Banners only to be greeted by a man dying from poison and a death trap of wildfire. Sustaining considerably minor injuries in the inferno the day had been won, the Bright Banners and bandity either dead or captured, sentenced to hard labor before being sent to the Wall or gallows.
>>
A resounding victory for House Malroy in the Princewood they solidified their hold on their former domain once again, and restricting House Redward to a single domain upon their outskirts, surrounded by House Chelsted and House Malroy peacekeeper forces.

The Tourney of Highgarden…

Month VI, 284AC.

Confident in his case against Lord Linden Langward and his attempted murder of Ser Mason Flowers, confirmed murder of Lady Nera Dayne, spying on House Malroy and hand in the Bright Banners hiring and subsequent deployment to the Princewood, Lord Brynden Malroy made for the Tourney in Highgarden. Intent upon taking Lord Langward to court for such acts of war…”

“And that is all?” Ser Gerion asks after you stop, wrapping the scroll up fully and holding it closely to your chest.

“That is all Ser Gerion,” you respond, “The Maester said there is far more to these stories. Of small things left unsaid, battles unincluded, gather of information omitted. It is a history Ser, not an all inclusive detailing of the past two years.”

He cracks his jaw and stands up, pacing the room a moment before looking out the window. You can feel the sweat build upon your forehead again, he always did this before… “And you are certain Mason Flowers will not be attending?”

“I-I swear upon the Seven, Ser Gerion,” you say swallowing hard as he closes the blinds and crosses to the door.

“Bloody bastard, how my blade longs to find his heart... But he will be protected. Perhaps too. Cardyn will need to be careful…” he draws out in open thought while latching the lock upon the door.

Your eyes fall upon the floor as he crosses towards the bed again, his hand reaches out and rests beneath your chin, “You did good lad. Everything Lord Langward asked for.”

“Thank you Ser Gerion… It is my duty to serve…” your voice is low uneven, eyes far too scared to meet his.

His nose twitches and catches your eyes, and a smile forms upon his lips, a wicked thing, “Then serve. On your knees lad.”

You can feel tears beginning to swell in your eyes again, he had not always been this forceful, this cruel. He baited you in with sweet words and gifts before putting the dagger to your throat and forcing you to spy upon Maester Benjen. Complying your knees fall to the floor with a soft thud, as he undoes his belt and forces your face upon what is beneath. It is a quick thing you learned, finish be done, swallow it along your pride and be left to wallow in misery, hope his needs are sated though rarely they are. You were his shame you knew, Ser Gerion Hightower, a Knight of renown, fucking some Novice from the Citadel in a winesink upon the dockends. He did not love, nor cherish, the thoughts brought tears to your ears finally, and casting them upon the floor you see the golden feather, broken and dirty under his boot. You wish to cry out before he calls your attention to his face, and the dagger slips below your neck allowing the blood loose while warmth fills your throat.

“Never leave a string undone. Though always worth a final goodbye.”

Vision turns to darkness, you choke upon the warmth in your throat and the blood that runs from it, and death is quick to come.

Poor Novice Daith, you never had a chance when I took a cue from GRRM and killed off the minor character narrator.

So that's the bulk of the recap nonsense. You get a feel for the major points leading up to now. There's a lot of smaller things left unsaid, and I would really encourage everyone to read the archives if you're new. The last three threads in particular to get a good feel for where we're going right now.

For those in the know and wonder, yes that is the same Hightower Knight that hates Mason and killed Ser Ambrose Oatwright.

Again, I'm hear for questions. Plans. Whatever nonsense you want to throw at me. No SoL stuff tonight more than likely I just dumped 20 pages worth of text into this. So I'm going to take a break. I am off work tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be around to write some small scenes of Brynden doing Brynden things.

>>595639
Eh probably not. Brynden doesn't have the sheer amount of salt Bittersteel did.
>>595717
SHE IS A NICE LADY. To those on her good side. But yeah, behind closed doors and those she is not particularly fond of Obella can be a real bitch. It isn't entirely one sided why her and Quentyn had a falling out, Obella had a part in that too.
>>596200
Those are two of the options yes. Haha The three prompts are:
>Brynden's stag party - Hangout with Lucas and Jon, Mason, Victor, Victus, attend a field archery contest held by Lord Wendwater, have some bevs, bro out
>A day in Steadhold - Enjoy the company of your wife before you make leave for Highgarden, throw a nameday party for your son Victus, and go about the castle meeting with the servants and personages for a bit of catch up
>A story from the past - Brynden tells Obella a story of one of his many adventures in Essos, running with the Second Sons, fighting in taverns, fucking whores, and serving in Volantis for the first time
From there I'd do just some fun stuff with each, focus on character interactions and little backstory bits.

never heard the weirwood throne theory, care to explain it?
>>
How would Donold have reacted to the whole Celtigar marriage plan debacle if it was him instead of Brynden?
>>
>>596512
The short version is that since weirwoods have funky ass powers relating to mindreading and time travel and consciousness and dreams and shit, sitting on a weirwood throne might give him powers or let people with powers mess with his head.

If Victus and one of the twins got married and had kids their children's hair colour would be 2 Brown:1 Red:1 Silver assuming single locus, Brown>Red>Silver dominance, which is likely given the hair colours of Victus and the Twins and their parents.

You'd be correct, however hair doesn't follow simple Mendelian genetic laws of inheritance.

It's actually controlled by several different sets of genes.

Alright, don't know if anyone is around. But I'm available to do some Slice-of-Life stuff today. Going to open up a vote for what people want to do today. Each one has a small reward, nothing too fancy, that corresponds to the activity.

Your options are:

Going to leave this open for a bit, then start writing and get a post up. We'll be doing maybe a half session today. Depends upon how long I feel like going.
>>
>>597525
Not really sure. Only really want from the first option is the victus part. Otherwise.

Nah I'm just a terrible deadbeat parent.

Basically, I was working on three things at once when I meant to run some stuff. Writing the posts, reviewing a preliminary draft for work and arguing with my younger brother about whether or not our grandmother should move to a group home. The latter most escalated rather quickly and this fell by the wayside. I was hoping it wouldn't become an all day affair, turns out it did and then I just felt really bad. Between that and work barely had a chance for leisure time on my laptop, thus the 11PM EST update on what happened.

SO. What I plan to do is shelf the SoL stuff until a later date. I'll make sure to keep the story from the past vote on tap and we'll revisit it on a lazier day. Plan is officially to get back into threads on Sunday, 25 September. At 2PM EST.

I fucking swear on me mum.
If for whatever godforsaken reason I don't run or can't run I'll give you guys Mason's bannerhouse for free, like a mad man. Good enough reason for me to not miss the session.

So yeah, sorry personal stuff came up. Really was looking forward to running some light fun stuff.

Oh, and on the topic of GoT quests. If you haven't given A Song of Storms and Time: House Deschain Quest a chance, I'd suggest you do so. Really short and an easy read, but the posts are well written and SuperSith could use some more players.
>>
>>608813
Sorry to hear that Dad, thank you for letting us know what was going on and keeping us updated.
>>
>>608813

I hope we roll and we get a banner house/tower that basically doubles our power and influence.

But still, i just want to play the game.
>>
>>625235
Same but with Fathers having to deal with his real life shit. It is getting a bit discouraging.
>>
>>625237

Yeah, its understandable. Don't like it obviously, but understandable. Getting your shit squared away can be pretty tough sometimes.
>>
>>625242
Ofcourse, ofcourse. I would never ask of him to put aside real life issues to satisfies random people on the internet.
>>
You are Royce Redward and you are currently pacing back and forth in a poorly lit room. The windows was shutted only a crack of light manging to get through the rest of the light came from soon to be exhausted candles on the table.
You grinded your teeths as you looked upon the large map of the Crownlands. You stared at the the place Steadhold was, your rightful castle that was stolen from you by that thief. You picked up the knife that had been struck into the area where Steadhold was, the name and castle on the map barely visible due to repeated stabbings. You glower as you sheath the dagger in your belt and look to Kings Landing where your beloved wife was being held, with your two daughters that you had yet to see. All thanks to that stealing valyrian. Who did he think he is you wondered, You were Royce Redward. Hero of the Rebellion. You had the support from the royal family itself and yet he kept defying you.

Your thoughts are interupted by a knock on the door. You blow out the candles before walking over to open it. Ser Robb stood awaiting behind it. The man had sunk in eyes and greying hair and was rather short. But he had a mean punch and was quite skilled with an axe. Another man short as well with a bald head and friendly but nervous eyes stood behind him.
"Mi'lord. Your Maester has arrived"
Your eyes flickered and a smile formed upon your lips. Finally you thought. The bald man stepped forward and bowed
"My lord i am Landor, your new maester. I hope i can be of help to you and your house."
The man bowed again as he fiddled with his chain.
"Good good. You can start right away. There are a few papers you need to take care of."
Quite a bit of work and formed upon your work bench. Letters, complaints and request piling up in towers. You lead the man into the room and his face turned into one of defeat. It would give you time to do more important work

> Continue to plot/ramble against that vile half horse, half serpent Malroy
>Take your anger out with some martial training

Screw it i am gonna mom post. See if there is any takers.
>>
>>625294
> Continue to plot/ramble against that vile half horse, half serpent Malroy
I bet he fucks horses, not women.
>>
You walk down the hallway with Ser Robb in tow. You can feel the anger build up in your chest and you needed to let some steam out.
"You know that the horsecocks daughter isnt actually his?"
You asked. Of course he did. He was the one who had informed you of it. His spies had manage to find all manner of dirt on the horse-serpent.
"Indeed. Some believe that she is from one of his summer islanders with how dark she is."
A wicked smirk appeared on your lips as you narrow your eyes. The amount of joy you felt from that almost felt as good as you had claimed your wife and her mother after your great victory. Oh how it was a feast for you. There had been a bit of noise but after a little while she was moaning like a whore. She ofcourse denies it but she loved every second of it. Ser Robb continued.
"But that is not all mi'lord. I have been informed that he has not even touched his wife. But that he rather prefer the company of men. It makes much more sense why he is constantly followed around by twenty men. They are not his warriors, they are his personal harem."
You exited out through the hall and out to the courtyard. You could hear the dogs bark from the kennel and the blacksmith hard at work. Men marched through the yard doing their business. Ser Robb had his own smirk now as he continued.
"I have also been informed that he prefer to be penetrated. That he has even allowed his uncle to do it on him. He has actually only been found to penetrate something himself was when he was caught with his pants down to his knee with himself standing behind a mare."
From that you let out a hearty laugh. Oh how you would had loved to see him there and then. It would had been the perfect moment to spear the horsefucker on. You walk up onto the wall as you fantasies what you would do to him when you finally had him beat.
The plan was to first fuck his sister and wife on the same time infront of him. Then have him speared from the ass and up. But with his 'prefers' he might find that enjoyable. You would have to find up new ways to end his miserable little life. You stood on the walls looking towards Steadhold as you open your codpiece and relieve yourself in its direction.

I am out of mom stuff to mom post about
