Your name is Amiel and you are a traitor. A blasphemer of the worst kind. Born from the raw, incomparable Glory of His light, you were but a lowly angel, those made the farthest from Him so that you could foster and guide His creations from above. Ranked under one of the archangels in the celestial hierarchy, you were glad to fulfill your duties. That is until doubt began to grow within you. Perhaps, it was jealousy, as humanity took you and your brethren's place as the Father's favored children. Perhaps it was spite, as you refused to bow to such sinful creatures, who did nothing but tarnish the creator who had made them in His image. Perhaps it was something else altogether, you were never sure, but you couldn't help but hate humanity.

That is why, when the most beautiful archangel in Heaven spoke, you listened. That is why, when Lucifer refused to bow to those humans, you followed his example. That is why you chose to rebel against Father, why you took to arms and began slaying those who remained to Him loyal.

That is why you became a third of Heaven's angels.

Same question from the previous thread, what's our floor for Glory, can we regenerate that 1 glory we have left or would we have to wait until an advancement point?

Cause either way I'm feeling like we need that speed now seeing as a 10 just barely dodge that thing.
>>
You continue to encircle the beast before you. A towering monstrosity unlike anything you've seen before. Yet, oddly familiar... It's not celestial, but there is a power within it that is making your body respond, your Ichor churns and pulls the more time you spend around this creature. The woods around you aren't going to offer much protection as its previous swing and the pile of firewood left behind it proved. With nothing but a stone-tipped spear to your name, you need to figure something out. You need to figure something out fast.

It's time to fight and you're not quite sure where to start.

REFERENCE FOR RULES:
Amiel currently has 1 point of Glory and 5 points of Ichor as his defaults. If his point total is lesser than his defaults at the end of a day, he regains the lost points during sleep. Glory may be spent to fuel Flares, of which you only have one right now. Ichor may be spent to add dice to your rolls. Every Ichor point spent adds one die to one roll. Beware, though, Ichor use can have unforeseen side-effects.
>>
You continue to keep your eyes on the best, and it you. Now is not the time for thinking and you know that. Now is the time for action.

In that case, I say we activate our Flare for speed, and we overwhelm it with quick percise strikes with our spear.

Perhaps spend a point of ichor on the attack roll as well, I really don't feel like messing around with a giant.
Lumbering.
Possibly Demon.
>>
>>60040
Use your range advantage and stab it with your spear
Use Ichor and Glory!
>>
The monster charges forward, making another swing towards you. This time, it makes a sound, a bellowing roar that makes the trees around you shake. You're prepared, though. This is the first time you truly do it since the Fall, but you know just what to do. You can feel the power build up within you - His light - just before it erupts into a flash of bright, blue light. Once again, your body glows, shimmering in a radiant sapphire. This time, you have no problems dodging the incoming swing, finding yourself behind the entity again in the blink of an eye. Another swing in thin air, another rupture that throws the nearby trees far above the two of you.

Just dodging isn't going to get you anywhere, though. Time to turn the tides on this thing.

Corruption Level is 2. No effect.

For the first time, you feel the Ichor, that oily, churning energy deep within is called to the surface. You can feel it in your blood, in your muscles, in your flesh. Burning with an intense power.

With the force of Ichor behind you, along with the high speed of your Flare, you make a quick couple of jabs with your spear. The sharpened stone digs into one of the creature's arms once, pricks its side two times and scratches up one of its horns with a slightly mistimed strike. It seems more so annoyed than anything else, prompting another swing with its large, lumbering arms. Not a problem for you to sidestep in your hastened state.

You quickly spin around the creature, once again leaving it dumbfounded. Ha. You could be getting used to this.

Okay, simply assaulting this thing isn't getting you anywhere. It is time for a different approach. Using timed jabs with your spear, you back off towards the nearby cave the creature erupted from. If you could goad it into attacking just right... As the beast slowly moves towards you, you carefully eye its movements, preparing to move the second it attacks.

It swings. You spring off, up the wall and ready to kick off. This should work, all things considered. With just a bit of luck.

You make a dash up the mountainside and jump off, fully intent to dodge the swing like the many you had before. That is, a moment before the Flare's effect cuts short. The dash is still effective and you kick off the wall, but all of it happens so much slower than you had expected it to happen. The claw connects and you feel yourself crash into the mountainside along with it.

The swing hurts. The rocks hurt more. Excruciating, crushing pain, not as bad as Michael's blade but you can feel your stomach turn and ribs snap as the air leaves your lungs with a surprised wheeze. Pieces of rock, small uprooted growths and droplets of your own blood hit the ground at the mountain's foot.

Though the pain is notable and you're fairly sure that you broke something, you still manage to get back to your feet. Fairly quickly, too, using your spear as support. A second impact maybe, doesn't even have to be half as strong...

You don't exactly have time to think about that, however, as the creature reels back for another strike. Time to think fast and act faster.

For a moment, the idea of retreat flashes through your mind. Really, you don't even know what this thing is. Why waste your time fighting it? You did your best, but clearly, your best wasn't enough. There has to be some way around this thing, there has to be...

When did you become such a coward, Amiel?

...No. You just need to think this through. You can still figure this out. All you have to do is time this right.

The monster moves forwars, roaring and lifting its claws, and you're ready. You have never been the best warrior, but you don't have to be if you can use this thing's weight and momentum against it. You leap forward as it swings its claws, doing what you can to jab your spear upwards, to meet its downwards lurch.

>>
>>60935
No need to worry - Corruption is not cumulative. Amiel's agency lasts for a short while and then fades. Higher corruption levels can cause permanent effects but those are usually not command related.

Test result is 10. As the highest result was without Ichor, no Ichor is spent.

A solid hit. The spearhead digs into the creature's shoulder, dark blood raining down over both of you. Okay, this is most certainly not a purely divine creature. This warm blood, these swings... It's too... Meaty, you suppose. Too solid. It's grounded here. It belongs to Earth. But then why in the world would it contain Ichor like it obviously does?

Anothee testament to its very solid nature is its weight, as the things lurching over you causes you to with a load groan sink down on one knee, your spear digging deeper in still. If you don't do something quick, you're going to be stuck under here. Luckily, you seem to have hit something important in its shoulder, it can't exactly reach you.

...Wait just one moment.

Was that movement on the bloody mountain wall? Argh! You can't look. Any attempt to get a gander reminds you of the huge mass of hostile muscle and gore pushing you down.

With a roar of your own you let go of your weapon, throwing yourself away from your enemy. It hurts to move too quickly in your current condition, but it's certainly better than the alternative. With you out of the way, the creature does the best it can to grab and remove your spear from its body. As mentioned however, it is having difficulties if only due to its ruined shoulder.

With the few seconds of breathing room you have, you glance upwards at the mountain, where you saw movement earlier. If only to come to terms with...

Is... Is that Zerah?

It most certainly is. Youth up climbing above the damaged part of the wall you caused. Raven hair, green eyes. Whatever he's doing up there you can't determine for certain. More importantly, when did he get here? Why?!

...And did he spot you using your Flare?

Zerah can wait. For now, top priority is taking care of that thing. You make a dash towards it as it finally manages to rip out your spear from its own shoulder, making you hesitate and begin circling it, looking for any good opportunities. No weapon, nowhere near strong enough to beat that thing with your own two hands. That's when you notice the kid throwing down smaller rocks at the entity's skull, shouting and hollering as he does.

Seeing no other answer to this blatant idiocy, you call out while trying to get a good bead on the monster. "Zerah, get back! That thing is dangerous!"

"You think I don't know that?!" Is the response you're given as another rock is thrown. The monster, seemingly suitably agitated, rushes towards the mountain wall, smashing ans clawing in an attempt to get to Zerah, who just keeps climbing higher up.

...Oh. You see what he's doing.

Frankly, you had already been working on a similar plan, but you're undeniably a worse climber than this kid, who keeps kicking down smaller rocks and further provoking the beast. Everything is shaking.

These efforts, combined with your earlier slam into the wall, sets off just the chain reaction you needed. The mountainside practically falls over on itself, breaking down from the hard stresses. Rocks break, dirt pours and everything comes crashing down over the beast below. With a roar only matched by the deafening nose of the landslide, the monster is buried under a wave of rocks, dirt and grime.

Laughing and celebration comes from the black-haires teenager who leaps down, landing on the collected heap of rubble. "Do you have... Any idea how long I've been tracking this thing for? Man, finally!" He seems to be in the midde of panic and a genuine laughing fit, filled to the brim with adrenaline.

Yourself, you're having a hard time thinking of anything else than how much everything is aching.

First things first, even if it was buried by a landslide we need to know without a doubt that that thing is dead.

Afterwards thank Zerah for the timely aid presuming its dead.

If not proceed with rock to skull application as needed until subject is dead.
>>
>>61349
"Now is not the time to be complacent."

Make sure the thing is dead. If this is something otherworldly it might be able to recuperate even after being mortally wounded.
>>
>>61349
"that was brave...and stupid. But thanks for the help. Are these the beasts everyone keeps referring to?"
>>
>>61349
we should dig through the rubble to see if we can get our spear back/ensure its dead
>>
"You've been tracking this thing?" You can't help but to voice your disbelief. "Why didn't you tell anyone, I'd-"

"Because I'd be held down and told not to, like every other time." Zerah makes another of his small shrugs. "Everyone is talking about the beasts, right? So I figured that when I noticed signs of one being around, I could try to find it. Figure out what their deal is." This... Rather lackluster explanation doesn't do much to soften your glare any. "I was curious, okay!"

You sigh. "Brave of you, but stupid. But for now, this is really not the time..."

As you speak, you do your best to move away debris from the pile the beast unwittingly caused. It takes you a while considering the condition of your body, but you get there and, well...

The thing is dead. No doubt about it. Crushed under the vast collection of rocks and rubble over it. Blood is all over the place, along with something... Else. Something powerful.

Something reaching out.

"What was what about?" You note yourself raising an eyebrow. A cocky gesture thar you're not sure fits in your face. "It sort of just... Happened, you know?"

"No, I don't know!" Zerah is strikingly serious. Strong contrast to your first interaction, really. "That's why I'm asking. You sort of just drew out fire or... Something from that thing like it was the most normal thing in the world. That and, well, not to be that guy, but you sort of glowed blue for a while. Pretty sure that's not the most-"

"Wait. Wait wait. Zerah. Sshhh." You raise a hand, making him stop out of sheer bewilderment more than anything else. "What was that about my eyes?"

Without waiting for an explanation, you turn and head to the nearest collection of clear water, not that difficult, and crouch down to examine yourself.

...Huh. That's interesting. Instead of the pale blue you knew, your eyes seem to have taken on an amber-like golden color. You could almost swear that there's a very faint glow to them too, but that's barely noticeable, if at all.
>>
Okay, you know for sure this is completely new. There was certainly nothing like it in Heaven, you know that for a fact. You rise to your feet again, turning back towards Zerah.

"Sooo..." Zerah continues. "Let's start simple. What's your name? Because it's sure as anything not 'Rutal'. That was a bad lie back then as well."

>What do you do?

Play it off. The kid is a little too excited about his first kill. We should recuperate at the village and then leave. While we weren't the ones who felled the beast, we saved Ichad's life and potentially the life of Zerah.

Our god-gifted eyes have changed. That's disturbing.

Amiel. I was an angel. Those stars that fell from the heavens? Those were angels like me who rebelled against our father and creator. We were cast down to earth, or at least I was. As for what I am now? I don't know. I am not angel, nor am I a regular human. I am what I am, I guess. Even if it remains a mystery to me.
>>
>>61925
Never mind, this is why waiting is something I should do more often, I prefer this.
>>
>>61866

We need to make sure Zerah keeps it to himself, he seems interested so maybe trade bits and piece of information for his silence until we leave? Also try and remember where we killed the thing, the village might be able to do something with the furs and such maybe.
>>
>>61925
I suppose we could be a bit more prideful after absorbing the nephilim. I still prefer deceit though.

>>61946
While we may have absorbed it's essence, I'd prefer no one gets the corpse. Or at the very most, use if for ourselves and then hide the rest.
>>
"I was an angel, a being of the divine." You're quite direct in your response, actually smirking a bit at how dumbfounded Zerah became as s reaction. "My name is Amiel. Those stars you saw were my kin, banished from above due to an internal conflict."

"...Bullcrap." Zerah mutters. Ah, poor youth. It would be difficult to take in, wouldn't it?

"Not at all. You saw what I am capable of. As for what I am now? I don't know, I am not mortal, yet I am no angel. It is a mystery. One I will have to solve." You were surprisingly honest with Zerah, if a bit flippant, and he really can't seem to find it in him to argur against your words.

"Alright, if... That's the case, then what's the plan now?" His expression is still very seriously to be Zerah, but a bit of his dry wit is returning. "I doubt a refugee of the gods would want to watch sheep all day."

>What do you reply?
