You're presently sitting in the guild, enjoying the rise and fall of noise all around you, the murmur of talking and the clatter of cutlery.

You're pleasantly warm at the moment- A lovely combination of a solid roof, a full stomach and good company.

Good company plus one, anyway.

'Dan', Guildmaster, halfling and likely remarkable liar and drunkard, is sitting across from you, distraught.
This is, of course, brought on by his secretary/enforcer informing him that he will be paying for your meal.

And while you feel that, traditionally, breaking into sobs when being told you're paying for a young lady's meal is probably frowned upon, You are a giant spider.

An arachne, specifically.

And so, to distract yourself from the fact that your food bill has brought a man to tears, and to also distract yourself from the fact that the food is now gone, you lean over the table and pat his shoulder.

>There.... There? It isn't that bad.

Good Afternoon, and welcome to a quest about a young woman who dies and wakes up with a great deal more limbs than she had before.

We've recently had a small recap, though it skims a lot of events in favor of brevity.
>>
>>603085
>>There.... There? It isn't that bad.
>>
>>603097
that's pretty good too.
Our consoling tech is getting stronger.

we might have to secretly give him money later if it turns out we literally ate him out of house and home
>>

Spiders? And I have the day off?

What Sorcery is this!?

>>It went to a good cause.

>It went to a good cause.

Woo! First time making it to this quest live.
>>

>>It went to a good cause.
>>
>>603137

So, The Best Kind then?
>>
>>603085
>It went to a good cause.
>>
So, when it comes to the loot, I was thinking:

Crow of Flowers goes to Nin, since she has the healing dust, and it cranks up healing power. Plus, we can mess with her by declaring her Queen of Moths.

Grabbers' Gauntlet (the telekinetic glove) should go to Sheszka, if only so she can punch things from far away.

The Sickle should be interesting.
>>
Remember we have to check the scythe out, or should we head into the Woods to try and use it first? Test it?
>>
>>603085
>It went to a good cause
Finally caught a live one!
>>
>>603164
Crown of Flowers*
>>
>>603085
>It went to a good cause.
>>
>>603164
Was the sickle the one that made crops?
Or was that something else?
The crop making thing should really go to the town.

And we should try to plant the golden wheat. Carry it along in a flower pot hung under our horn.
>>
Looks like it's going to a good cause!

Writing!
>>
>>603180
No, the golden wheat is the wand that grows things, and will be bought by the guild.

Atleat i got to see the beginning before I'll fall asleep, don't fuck this up anons
>>
>>603180
>Was the sickle the one that made crops?
That was a golden wheat wand.
>>
>>603180
I'm pretty curious about the scythe. Doesn't seem the sort of thing Lyra could use at first glance but I get the feeling it's not the sort of thing adventurers generally get..
>>
>>603180
Like the others said, wheat was the crop one.
The scythe does ???, so we wanna keep it around and find out.
>>
>>603200
Fuck, I just checked and you're right.
I really wanted to grow the golden wheat to see what happened.
>>
>>603212
Hopefully it does fire.
>>
>>603231
I also just double checked, and we just ate a week of that guy's wages.
I guess it costs a lot to keep the ol' spider engine running.
>>
We could invest in training in scythe warfare or see if we can reforge it without breaking the enchantment
>>
>>603272
To be fair: Lyra built the guild a massive bath house that's going to rake in cash. Not only that, but she doubled the training rate of adventurers by showing them up in combat.
>>
>>603284
Or we could just use it as a tool-enchantment, like our drinking fountain shield.
Once we find out what it does.
>>
>>603299
Oh yeah, we're totally loaded.
It's just nice to have a good comparison of how loaded we are to how loaded other non spiders are.
It means we still get to go shopping here, or when we hit elfzone 1:1.
>>
>>603317
I more meant that Lyra's making the guild a lot of money, as well as herself.
>>
>>603331
Also true. And it might even go back to the guild master eventually!
>>
The guildmaster looks up from his seat, eyes red and puffy- You're fairly certain that's from his apparent all night drinking session, rather than any genuine distress.

His lip quivers as he pouts, looking up at you for salvation-

"It went to a good cause, yes."
"FFFF-"

"They're children."

A serving platter interupts him mid-word, Ren materializing from whatever dimension she resides in when she's not terrifying anyone stupid enough to cross her.

Neither his position, nor the blow deters him- He wraps his arms around her waist before she can step away, all but bawling into her shirt.
"Ren. Ren! C'mon, you can't do this to meeee-"

"Of course I can. I'm doing it right now. See? This is the bill."
"Ren. Ren. This isn't- The money was meant for my drinks, right?"
"You mean next weeks drinks."
"Tonight, too."

She hands him the bill with a smile.
"A tragedy, I'm sure. You'll have to work this week instead of cruising off last week."

'Dan' collapses to the bench, strength leaving his arms as he flops down and ceases to move.

You decide that you probably shouldn't get involved. Except-

"I have a question, yes?"
"Hmm? Did he not answer everything?"
"He answered what he could? It was more about-"

You gesture to the table. And the halfling.
>>
>>603406
"This."
"Ah."
"Aren't permanent guild members salaried? And fed and housed, too, but I think that part is the most confusing one."

The secretary frowns, glancing to her fallen management.
"Well, He is fed and housed. If we relied on him to buy his own food he'd likely die. Or spend all his time bumming off people at the bar."
"And the rest?"
"He's... exceptionally good at his job. The issue is one of motivation."
"Yes?"
"If we just pay him, he won't work."

"So you bait him?"
"Basically. He still just pushes himself for a week and coasts until he's broke again. We have a 'Do not feed the Guildmaster' sign for when he runs out of money."

I don't remember anything I wanted to do in town other than shopping spree and sightseeing, and I'm not sure if everybody is into that right now.

We can just randomly try the sickle on things until we get to elflands, anyway. What could go wrong?

Ask about the sickle and do some shopping. Buy and/or make the best weapon we can find. Then.. it was pretty heavily implied we could sail to the elfland. But I'm not sure how Lyra would handle boats.

Lyra on boats is going to be great.
So many sea legs to learn.

Also, I could really go for the telling aunt we're heading out soon and some minor shopping. Hopefully we can try coffee this time. I don't know what we'd visit the dwarves again for, I might have forgotten if that was on our list.

>>
>>603516
Said dragon wont be trying to get into the horde, they'll be being forced to model new dresses for her.
>>
>>603464
I'm more interested in the others' reactions. Given their only experience is a river barge, how they might handle an actual ship, turbulent seas, and no land for as far as the eye could see might be interesting/hilarious.

...though I doubt that'd happen given the proximity between the Elflands and the Continent. Doesn't a land bridge still show up occasionally or was that just in the past?
>>
>>603536
Yeah, the land bridge still shows up.
So we can still call it a part-time island.

. . . . Did we just give away the wheat artifact for free? Like, can we make a clause that they have to help develop our home village by sending a percentage of the harvest or equivalent goods back there to be used to help out our pack and such?

HAHAHA, TIME FOR SPIDERS!
>>
>>603507
See, here's the thing: both Erics and Nialla are extraordinarily focused on very specific things. For Erics, it's research on practically everything; Nialla loves fighting, and going wherever she pleases; Elle loves clothes, and making clothes, with a very particular taste for dresses; Sara is obsessed with researching magic, specifically; Lyra has an insatiable desire for adventure; Zach and Ephram are fanatics when it comes to hunting, and competition; Aria, finally, is obsessed with, not only being strong, but being the best.

Honestly, Nialla shouldn't be surprised.

>>
>>603617
I agree with Aria decription, but I'm hoping she focuses on something more specific in the future. Being 'the best' or 'strongest' doesn't really make things clear for the future, unless she's ok with being Mom 2.0

They're spiders, anon. Human values don't apply. Solitary predators tend to be pretty competitive and specialized.

Also that's not what autism is.
>>
>>603617
I like how the family tree is brancing out.
>>
>>603666
well, A lot of the family does have poor social skills and don't know societal norms. But you can just chalk that up to them being young. they aren't even a year old yet.
>>
>>603659

She's still young, I figure sooner or later she will find her own thing.

They are spiders, who are near enough solitary due to food concerns.

I don't think they have a normal really.

Where do values enter into this?

>That's not what autism is

Yeah, I was using the 4chan definition, sorry. Zach and Ephram definitely display symptoms of Asperger's though, and Elle and Sara both seem to at least be on the spectrum given their behaviours.
>>
... You probably shouldn't get involved.
Anymore than you already are, anyway.

As far as it goes, being an excuse to force the guildmaster back to work is till fairly distant.

"Do you have any idea how we could test the sickle, yes? To find out what it does."
"You just got back from a dungeon. Have you even slept?"
"I am not tired yet. And it is still light out."
"That's because it's morning."

"Yes, well... You don't go to sleep in the morning."

She sighs, brushing errant hairs out of her face.
"Fine. Didn't you say one of your siblings was a mage?"
"Well, yes. But I don't want to test it on myself- Wait, when did I talk about my sisters?"
"Maybe it was in the report then. Why are you testing things on yourself?"

"I am not testing things on myself. Sara tests things on me because I don't explode well. There's reports about my family?"
"A crowd of arachne left the forest. One of them has a fire crown."

You wince.
"Please stop bringing that up, yes."
"Did you think there wouldn't be reports?"
"Lann had to write some, I think. I didn't know they would get this far."
"Alright. The far side of the training grounds is for magic if you wanna swing the sickle around. Or you can try to find a mage in the city. There's a tower. Getting one to help is something of a gamble, though."

"They won't help people?"
"Help is a strong word for some of them. You might get a twelve page report you can't read, or you might get a man who's more beard than anything else yelling at you. And the one witch keeps trying to serve potions instead of teas."
"Witch?"
"For research, she says."
"Is witch different than mage?"

Ren shrugs.
"More spirits? More crazy."
"I see."

You should probably plan this out, then.
You've got to get things ordered properly. There's only so many hours in a day, right?
And you can't cut down on your sleep. You might be a lit hopped up on dungeons right now, but once that wears out, you'll be building nests on corners or something.

There's the dwarves, for one. You got a bit of training done, but your spear isn't quite cutting it anymore.
It still cuts things, of course. And stabs them. Or bludgeons them. You're just breaking it and-

Yes.

There's the temples, too.
Your new sickle. Mages or the training grounds.
You could probably book passage on a boat instead of walking to the half-elflands. Lann's hometown.

There was probably something you're forgetting, as well.
But you've forgotten it.

The placement of the phrase was off. For the meaning you intended it should have been "it could benefit from being made into at least steel".
>>
Right.

Ignoring the rest is okay, but your poor spear is in bad shape. You've been mistreating it.
It's a weapon meant for smaller, squishier people, and look at how well it's held up so far!

You've only had to fix it...
Hm.

One, two, seven-
You've broken it a lot.

You're a bit loathe to get rid of it- It's still something from your first ever fake dungeon, and a weapon your father enchanted.
Maybe you can recover the stone, at least?
And you'll keep the spear, too. For memories, if nothing else.

Mom had a warehouse in the tree anyway, it's only fair.

So then, to start-

You stand up all at once, pushing the table forward with the scrape of wood against stone.

"I have to go, yes."
"What?"
"Dwarves first."
"Dwarves? Make sense, please."

"I have to see the dwarves, and they can tell me what to do, and then I have to fix my spear."
"It isn't broken, though?"
"It keeps bending, yes."
"Spears usually have a bit of elasticity to them? It's pikes and such that you want to stay stiff."

"It bends in half and stays like that. Or dents. I have to keep reforging it, yes."
"Really?"
"Sometimes while I'm fighting."
"That's just... Fine. I'll note where you've gone."

You nod, and turn for the doors, gathering up errant monsters as you go.
Or you would, but you've already completed your transformation to spider bed, apparently.

Not everyone is kept up by the adrenaline pulse of dungeon delving.

_______________________________________________________________

So you clatter through the city, lonely, noble head held high-

"Nin, stop narrating what I am doing, yes."
"I'm practicing!"
"I do not think you need any, though? And I am not lonely. You are here, right?"

The moth huffs, falling quiet behind you, save for some muttering as she starts reorganizing your mass of hair.

You should probably sort that out again sometime.
You can only rely on your friends braiding it for...
Well you can probably rely on that for quite a while, actually.

You pull up outside the dwarves apartment, and you pause to knock politely at the door, accompanied by a silent prayer that they actually be there.

You're in luck.

The blacksmith- whose name is on the tip of your tongue- opens the door, looking up at you.
"Good afternoon, then."
"Good afternoon, yes."
"Didn't really expect ya."
"Mhm. It is... Herb?"
>>
>>604282
He nods along, stepping out from the house.
"That's right. So what can I do for you, Miss Lyra?"
"I'm a miss now?"
"Lady?"
"Miss is good, yes."

You cough lightly.
"Well, there is the matter of my spear."
"Oh?"
"Mhm. It cannot hold up anymore, yes. To my strength."
"I see."
"So I need a new weapon, of some sort. But this one has an elemental stone, and I don't know what materials would make for a good spear."

"Sounds like a whole nest o' problems."
"Yes. So I was hoping I could beg for advice."
"That's fine. I'm not busy today, thank gods. Merchant meetings till the week is done, no thanks."
"I thought you were involved as part of the smiths guild?"
"I don't do price negotiations directly. You can't work metal and people in the same way."

You nod, and fold your legs neatly.

___________________________________________________________________________

"So what you're tellin' me is that you're to strong for it."
"Yes. And the stone."
"Alright. Don't worry about the rock. I'll lay out your options."
"Please!"

He coughs, and holds up a finger, still encrusted- Or more likely, freshly encrusted- in soot.

"The head, at least, you'll be wanting strong. Adamantium is the toughest you can get, but orihalcum is better for magic and enchantments and the like. Mithril is light as can be, but you won't get much use out of that, I think. Steels always an option, of course, but that's a budget concern- Speaking of, how much are you looking to spend here?"
"I... don't actually know how much gold I have, yes."
"How does that go?"
"I never counted it. There was all the guild jobs, and the baths. They pay me for the baths all the time. And the silk, I sold a lot of silk. I can make metal silk now, too. And I sold some dungeon treasure. A lot of money?"

"Fine, I'll just assume that you can- Wait, what's this about metal silk?"

You hold up a loop.

"The hells is this."
"Metal silk."
"I want this."
"Okay? The rest of the spear though, yes?"

"Uh- There's a bunch of options for the shaft."
"Alright."
"There's livewood. It'll grow back, and it's pretty tough."
"I use a lot of fire, yes."

"None of that then. Ashwood is fireproof and tough to boot. It might be tough to find an arachne sized piece, though. Mithril might actually be okay for the shaft. Or you could make the whole thing one piece, but that'd limit any bendyness. Quicksilver, maybe. Or bluesteel. Or that red ore."
"Red ore?"
"Never worked with it. Gets too hot. Heard good things about it. Apparently it's used for black iron. Which is heavy as it gets, but you could probably bend it."

"Hmm-"

Ask about applications of metal silk and armor? For shezka, at least. He would have a clue, right?

Also ask about weapon enchantments. Those are a thing, right? Beyond stones, that is.

>>
>>604319
Why not put an Orhicalum core in the shaft instead, then wrap that with black iron for strength and tip it with steel, the best material apparently but expensive?

We can use that like a Lance against heavier enemies. More Orhicalum to hold magic, against we aren't stabbing with the bit that powers the enchantment.

And then we can order a second spear that's light and flexible that we can whip around fast and easily for enemies that aren't massively armored.

I know. Two Spears. Fucking madness.
>>
>>604420
>and tip it with steel, the best material apparently but expensive?
I think it's the opposite. He offered that suggestion in case we don't have enough money.
>>
>>604410
Actually, if we use the strongest metal and make a big and heavy spear we will not have it break so much, yes.

Maybe a lance would be better?

We kind of are a mount already. So we have no problem to build raming speed.
>>
>>604420
>and tip it with steel, the best material apparently but expensive?
No its the worst one, but the cheapest.
>>
>>604420
...steel is the cheapest. "Budget concern" meant "if you can't afford the others".

Though I like the two spears idea.
>>
>>604410
Yeah, that's called a Lance at that point.

See >>604420 about how I feel about that.

Having it be less flexible just means it's more likely to shatter.
>>
>>604420
>I know. Two Spears.
Thats not actually that crazy, if we make one more optimized for throwing, we have a off-weapon to throw if necessary.
>>
>>604415
>>604407
In fact, now that I think of it, I'm adding tiberium and radioactives to the "threats to lyra list", right next to beetlejuice.
>>
>>604431
Awful idea. We csn only use one at a time. If you want more damage try a lance. We are good at ramming into things, yes.

Unless you want someone else to get a spear? We could make one as a gift fir our half elf friend. One small and weak like the one we already have. Elfs are not strong as spiders.
>>
>>604440
Or one better for using the enchanted crystal to throw out lightning, and the other for stabbing tougher opponents.
>>
>>604430
>>604422
Huh. So it is. For some reason I thought he was saying that the downside to steep was its cost.

Adamantium then I guess.
>>
Let's avoid the light spear. It won't let us leverage our full strength and we can probably wave a heavy spear around almost as quickly anyways.
>>
>>604450
>We csn only use one at a time.
Well, thats not strictly speaking true. We can use two at once easily enough. its just not practical in most cases.

>>604457
>Or one better for using the enchanted crystal to throw out lightning
Lightning isn't quite the same as a throwing spear, for one the lightning bolt has a bit of "splash damage".
>>
>>604457
So do you guys want a lance? We are way stronger than any knight and we are basically our own mount. And I think our raming speed is decent. We should try to run without any monsters using us as a perch of bed to see just how fast we can go, yes.
>>
>>604450
Different weapons for different situations. Like >>604420 said, have a Light Spear for smaller enemies (like wolves or humans or bears) and a Heavy Lance for actual challenges (like hydras, dragons, or proper bears). No need to swing around a light pole to kill a man-at-arms, after all.
>>
>>604450
> We can only use one at a time

You act like people haven't carried multiple weapons around since like the beginning of warfare.

Like, just drop the one you don't want to use and pick it up after the battle.

What are you going to do with your spear-kabob anyways after you ram it through a bunch of dudes? Bludgeon people with it? Ask to take five while you clean it up?

Just saying, if we're going to optimize then we're going to end up with a weapon that is good at one thing.

I'd like to have something that will be useful if we have to fight something that's fast or numerous instead of heavily armored.
>>
>>604457
>>604470
Guys, what if we put the lightning stone in an orihalcum gauntlet?
Considering that most metals will be conductive, we could get all of the material benefits of the harder metals while still having something that can take support enchantments.

"Can you tell me more about the red ore?"
"Not much. Dunno the name, even- It's got to heat something past what I can deal with to work, even."
"But it's used with... Black iron, yes?"
"Yeah. It's just alloyed, I think. Haven't heard of anyone making anything straight from it, anyway."

"What kind of alloys could it make then?"
"Haven't tried. If we're thinking about black iron then, maybe some kind of more brittle steel. Think I'd heard mixing it with mithril did something odd, and I know alchemists did something with it."
"Something?"
"Think they blew up. Might have nothing to do with the ore, though. Can't tell with them."

"What about just black iron then?"
"Well, it's dirty to make. It's solid and heavy though, and holds a great edge. My wife's got a cleaver made from it at home."

"And what it bluesteel and quicksilver?"
"Mithril alloys. Bluesteel is harder, quicksilver is more bendy. Bluesteel is good with magic, quicksilver is some sort of alchemical thing, and doesn't like magic."
"It can't be enchanted?"
"It can cut spells, sometimes."

"Sometimes?"
"It's one thing to slice apart some bolt of magic, but a fireball is still hot. And sometimes it just doesn't work. It's alchemy, you can't trust it at all."
"How is everything else with enchantments, then?"
"Varying degrees, I guess."
"Specifically, yes."

He raises his hand again, counting things off as if to remind himself.
"Black iron is okay. Good with fire, and strong simple runes. Bluesteel is good with wind and water and the like. Mithril and orihalcum are best with light magic, but they can take about anything. Adamantium is... rough. It doesn't like magic. All but bloody indestructible, though."
"What about winding other metals around each other? Or through the shaft?"
"Can't really enchant the insides of your spear. And working the other metal over it would ruin it. As for mixing- Some of them will work together, but most are too far apart. You'd make a mess instead of a spear."

You tap a leg idly as you think it over.

You could make a general sort of weapon, but you'd prefer something customized for yourself, after all.
Maybe two weapons?
You need to find out more about the red ore.

"What do you want the silk for?"
"Chainmail, of course. Or if I can't bind the rings closed, maybe someone can knit a chainmail vest from it. It's a new sort of metal, I'll have to see what it can do, first."

Shez has to be able to switch between humanoid and wolf forms and fight with both; a giant fuckoff axe wouldn't be conducive to that, though I love the idea of Shez batting mooks around like Sauron.

We should also see about upgrading her bracers and Jins claws.

I am still looking foreward to getting surprise coffee somewhere, some time.

Because dangit, Coffee.

If you take too long the thread will hit autosave. Maximum I have seen the same thread active in qst has been two weeks. And that was with people posting every few days.

So unless you plan to run every three days or less, is better to make a new thread.
>>
>>604916
I'm not sure I follow you, what about leverage?
>>
>>604918
They'd get in the way of eachother though. Its suboptimal in "most" scenarios. Not that it can't happen at all though.
>>
>>604899
I go more with

> Hey guys, let me come in after a 136 threads and try to respecc a character because of aesthetics.

I mean, would Shezka even have any interest or aptitude for using large weapons like that?
>>
>>604879
>>604889
>>604890
>>604898
I'll keep it in mind.
I'd like to try to get a thread every week again, but god knows if my schedule will allow it. Either way, if they only last a week, I likely won't get much out of them.

>>604920
That's underage drinking, anon.
Thanks for playing all.
I'll try and be back for next week- Either the next thread, or the one after that will be bonus scenes and the like, to catch up with family and other acquaintances.
>>
>>604945
Thanks for the thread, REQM! Hope to see you, soon.
>>
>>604945
Hope you're back soon, I really enjoy these spiderthreads.
>>
>>604937
I'm not so sure, if one was shorter it wouldn't get in the way of the larger one.

Plus you'd probably swing with them independently. .
>>
>>604945
My thread has been up more than a week and it's still only 1/3 away from the bottom.
>>
>>604929
The length of ththe Spears means you lose a lot of maneuverability and force if you're trying to use just one hand. Leverage is a force multiplier.

Also controlling the tip gets exponentially harder the further away it is.
>>
>>604904
Could someone use the ask fm whatever and ask REQM this?
>>
>>604985
Okay, firstly, Lyra has superhuman maybe even super monster strength, I doubt the loss would be that much.
>>
>>604967
You realize this quest isn't like a computer game or D&D where you just put points into something to level up?

You're talking about learning about entirely new fighting style, with weapons not designed for it, and we might not even be ambidextrous?

> We would move them independently

That's not even how dual wielding works.
>>
>>604945
Thanks for running!
>>
>>604997
Uh, have you noticed we're fighting superhuman monsters? And the word "multiplier" means that it increases our strength to be more than just what each hand can do on their own.

And accuracy and control isn't a matter of just strength. Monkeys are far stronger than humans, but we have much better fine control.

Strength won't make you less clumsy.

It's not the solve everything answer you want it to be.
>>
>>605002
You wouldn't stab with both spears at once, you'd most likely jab with them one at a time. Or swipe with them one at a time.

And the one thing Lyra has plenty of is time. She could train it almost anywhere.

I'm just saying it's an option you're just immediately dismissing. It wouldn't work for a normal person but for lyra I think it would be fine.
>>
>>605019
>Solve everything

I never said that. And you can train to fight that way. It isn't some impossibility
>>
>>604945
Thanks for the thread.
>>
>>605060
birbs when?
>>
>>605033
Why waste a bunch of time on that? It wouldn't be a more effective way of fighting, it would pretty much be just a gimmick for show.
>>
>>605084
It has potential anon, this is fantasy land.

Sometimes you have to do cool shit.

Or we could just use the smaller one as a javelin or something, I'm just trying to figure out how to capitalize on having two.

And yes, I know javelins and spears are different kinds of weapons.

As soon as I recover my notes by rereading my entire quest. Which will happen directly after rereading my own quest stops making me bleed from the eyes.

I'm working on it I guess, but damn am I the second worst kind of flake.
>>
>>605142
what's the worst? Also why does it make your eyes bleed? It was fun.
>>
>>605095
The reason to have two is so that instead of having to make compromises with what one weapon can do, we can just switch between the right tool for the job.
>>
>>605157
The kind of flake who makes promises.

Rereading it is like looking at old artwork. I become intimately aware of how bad I was at writing/running and the things I could have done better or shouldn't have done at all.
>>
>>605169
and? It was still great. It started rocky, but it got a lot better.
>>
Gotta love /qst/, an hour without bumps and we're barely on page 2.
>>
>>605559
well, at least we can talk about the quest during the week while we wait for the next quest
>>
>>605559
You consider that a good thing?
>>
I arrive at the end of the thread to say that I'm glad this story still continues.
>>
>>609100

If we continue to space out our replies this thread will easily last the week.

>750 bump limit.
and we are barely at 300
>>
>>609204
Sadly they auto sage after three days. The mod that spearheaded this board did it as a "kindness" did that so that big threads didn't stay on the front page.
>>
>>609441
Is there a single thing that faggot got right when made this trainwreck of a board?
>>
>>609456

ID:s and now formating/colours I guess? I´d prefer the archive threads to stay around longer but I gues thats only me.

Still. Whatever, we´ll see what comes. This is still better than most other places i´ve seen that do quests like these.

That one's a bit on the small side for Lyra, but since we're the ones likely making it, we can have it at a proper size.

I personally think it's a great upgrade to what we already have, we is a lightning-enchanted spear. Making a huge lightning sword-spear is just a flat upgrade in my opinion.

>>
>>609710
If we're fixing our fucking enchantment setup, we can correct the mistake I made way back and swap it from "three times a day ranged attack" to "on hit lightning attack".

Because we never use that ranged attack.
>>
>>611360
I think our first or second spear was Ornsteins Dragonslayer spear and that thing is its predecessor, we could still use most of our spear tech with it.
>>
>>611360
>>611395
yeah, we've had darksouls: the spear for quite a while.
>>
>>611360
This, basically. Has everyone forgotten we've been training with a spear for pretty much our whole life, not much of anything else, and are still miles away from Mom's skill?
>>
>>611592
Have you forgotten pretty much our whole life is 1 year?

I mean I don't want a fuckin sword but jesus I took karate longer then she took spearmenship.

Spiders are jsut inherently superior to everything we give her a paddle toy and she'd still beat all but 3 people near effortlessly.
>>
>>611773
I do not look foreward to the eventuality that we will have to use our past live's skills for something, somewhere.
I just know we can't avoid the howling spectre of desk work forever.
>>
>>611949

Sarah was a code monkey, not a bureaucrat. Unless some dwarf's managed to rig up a primitive computer somewhere (in a language similar enough to the one(s) we knew that we can work with it) I doubt we have to worty much about it.

That said, I'm still waiting for some fortune teller medium person to address us as Sarah, and for Shez/Jin to try to innocently correct her while we have a panic attack.
>>
>>609752
Fuck yes, Swordspear is best spear, one fitting for our sway over earth and fire.

A Naginata is a toothpick compared to it.
>>
>>609463
I personally hate the IDs. Fundamentally detracts from the anonymous culture of questing when it does work. Which isn't often.

>>611395
>>611402
Ornsteins spear was a thrown projectile weapon though, we went with the ranged lightening option on our current spear. We could do something like that with our new light spear our dwarven buddy is working on. If we could remove the wind crystal in our current spear and place it in the light spear, maybe we could choose a fresh enchantment for it.
>>
>>613608
We could use the light spear as a magic projectile option and the Swordspear for magic melee.
>>
ahem, WE FORGOT TO WRITE MOM A LETTER!
>>
>>613639

We can ask dragon-smile lady to send a msg to other guild. I bet we could get it to sister -> mum that way
>>
>>613615
That was where I was going with that, yeah. If we're getting two spears we might as well use one as a javelin.

>>613639

>pic related; Lyra when Nialla and Erics show up and see her crown.
>>
>>613639
We could vote for that.
>>
>>611592
But I just got here, Anon, and I want to invalidate all the previous choices in the quest so that I can make it into MY headcannon of how awesome it is.

Axes and sword spears, and we have to give Jin a foot crossbow with a quiver of unlimited bolts, and she can fastball special Esme with it because that would be sooooooooooo cool.

And Lyra is so big and strong and OP that she can just brute strength past any problems or negatives with comically oversized weapons, like balance issues or point control or speed.

>>
>>614913
Why do you think we made her regent?

Even with our crazy fast evolutions and even being a monster girl we are still the equivalent of a teen.
>>
>>615148
...your comment is nonsensical.

Regents are for when a ruler is incapable of ruling, either due to age (in which case the regency ends once the ruler reaches the requisite age) or injury. The comment I was replying to was that we'd make Mom regent because we're too young and inexperienced, meaning that we would eventually become old enough to rule and that Mom's regency would end at that point, which implies that we in any way WANT to rule over anything at any point in our lives, a concept which we have very vocally opposed despite the arguments of our insidious moth herald.

Admittedly we could ABDICATE as soon as the regency ended, but if we were going to do that then why not do it immediately and not have to shoulder Mom with the regency for our nonexistent title?
>>
>>616076
We don't want to, but the fact is, even evolution betrayed us. So this way we can at least delay things a few years.

And is not like our mother can refuse, we are just a year and a few months old after all.

"Just power alone doesn't make a good ruler, yes."
>>
>>616451
Shez evolved into a Yeti, that doesn't mean she has to go live in the mountains and eat people. Nin's a Sphinx moth, that doesn't mean she has to go live in the desert asking travelers what kind of music has no sound and then eat them if they get it wrong.

Just because we're a Tyrant arachne doesn't mean we have to be someone who tyrannizes. It doesn't even mean we have to rule anything at all.
>>
>>616076
What if we make Mom regent on the fact that we have a crippling aversion to being queen?

>"That does not make you incapable of ruling, Lyra!"
>"Oooh, I am feeling suddenly very faint, it must be the aversion."
>"LYRA!"
>>
>>617614
I addressed that in the post you replied to. Since we don't want to be a queen, why the fuck shouldn't we just abdicate?
