You wake shortly after dawn- finally giving up some time later, after much tossing and turning.

So much for sleeping in.

Though, it’s probably for the best- you have a lot to get done today. Between practicing with the orchestra, taking your plans down to Teuchi at Ichiraku Ramen, and preparing yourself for tomorrow, you doubt you’ll have very much free time.

Slowly shuffling out of bed, you take seat at your desk to give the paperwork for the “New and Improved” Ichiraku’s another glance.

Several hours later, once you’d finalized your plans for the project- and Maru had dragged you downstairs for breakfast- you meet the orchestral director outside, along with his members. Although they were professionals, and had been given ample time to prepare, it would be wise to see them go through the motions a few times in person, just to ensure there would be no slip-ups at the exams.

You’re only going to get one shot at this, after all.

Your… enthusiasm for watching them seems to make the director nervous- though, he shouldn’t be. Better they mess up now and not during the exams- you wouldn’t have to dock their pay!

You chuckle lightly to yourself as the orchestra begins to warm up……

All in all, it could’ve been worse. You only had to correct the director four times- and the last ten attempts were flawless! You would’ve stayed longer, but business waits for no women- even a Norihime.

The meeting with Teuchi goes as expected- the man still seems somewhat exasperated by the speed of which this is progressing, but you assure him that, yes, this is happening, and yes, his new physical location will be top of the line.

“Oh, and Teuchi? If you and your daughter could come to the exams tomorrow to model the new uniforms, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m planning on letting the world know our grand re-opening, and having you both there would add immensely to that image.”

“O-of course, Ms. Norihime! We wouldn’t dream of missing it!” he replies.

You smile warmly.

“Thank you, Teuchi. I’ll leave you to your clientele- and remember, Ichiraku’s is closed tomorrow, alright?”

The ramen chef bows his head- and you bid him farewell. Everything is coming together quite well- and you’ll likely have some spare time this afternoon.

The manor is bustling when you return- even more so than yesterday. Pulling a servant aside, you quickly learn why-

You thank the servant, and let them go about their work- Father’s return is timely. He’ll be in a good mood as well, since the dealings with the Daimyo have seemingly gone well. A shame your schedule wasn’t open enough to pay the Capital a visit.

You could go speak with him, but there will always be time for that later. You have precious little time before tomorrow, and you should be sure to use it efficiently.

You rummage through your closet for a bit- until you find the two katana from your encounter against the Samurai months ago. While the swords are of a higher quality than the ones from TenTen’s family shop, you’ve avoided using them- chakra conducting metal is valuable, and you have no idea how stellar chakra would react to it.

However, you certainly can think of someone who could acquire more of the material, and have a vested interest in seeing what it can do- Father.

Locking the sheathed blades unto your belt, you approach Father’s room to find it open, the scent of cigarette smoke wafting gently outwards.

You knock gently on the doorframe, as usual.

“Ah, Tsuki! Come in. I have much to tell you about my trip- and evidently you have something to show me! What are those?” he responds, spinning in his chair.

“Katana taken from some Samurai we fought on the border of the Land of Hot Springs. They’re made out of chakra conducting metal- I wanted to show them to you, and possibly see if you could think of anything.” you explain, unsheathing a blade for demonstration.

“Chakra conducting metal- quite the useful alloy. The armor we produce uses high quantities of it- bolters the defenses of those that wear it, for a time. Weapons, though- never made a lot of headway there. Kunai launchers and even heavy senbon casters- they were always far more profitable, being usable by the common man. Though, I wonder- how does it react with your unique ability?” he asks.
You figured that question was coming.

“To be honest, I’m unsure- these were valuable enough that I didn’t want to waste them. I worry they may melt, honestly.” you answer.

“A reasonable concern. Potentially, if we reforged them- but no, even then, I’m not entirely sure they could take the heat. We would need something of much higher quality than these blades- though I wouldn’t exactly rule out other weaponry.” he says examining the free blade.

“Other weaponry, Father?” you question.

“Oh, I’m rambling- but imagine, instead of a sword, we took the standard kunai launcher as a base? Obviously the entire thing couldn’t conduct your chakra, as it would likely still melt- but if we used the properties of your ability to power it, insulating the chakra conducting pieces with other materials? Pressurised weaponry, superheated projectiles…. Maybe even projecting the energy itself?” Your father muses.

Handing the blade back to you, he lights up another cigarette- all black. Norihime brand.

“The possibilities are endless, really. It’s entirely new class of weapon. Not something we could widely manufacture, of course- you’d be the only one who could even power the thing. But still, the possibilities….”

What's your basis for saying that? Kankuro is a talented puppeteer who had loads of experience by pre-exams. The irony of a Shinobi using a Samurai’s weapons to fight other Shinobi isn’t lost on you- their leader Yojimbo certainly seemed to have a deep-seated hatred for them.

As you sheath the blade and prepare to leave, your father hugs you from behind.

“Love you, my little shinobi. I know you’ve been doing a lot of thinking- and it’s ok if you haven’t forgiven me. Your mother would be proud to see you now.”

You rest your free hand on his, for just a moment- before he lets go.

I wouldn't say we are that much. Nori is an OC, Hinata is a side character, the rest are only vaguely friends. We don't really know Naruto and it seems we barely know Sasuke. Outside our team, we're interacted mostly with InoShikaCho, which at this stage of the story is still the scrubbiest of all scrub teams.

Happening to have Danzo as a cross between kindly uncle and manipulative overlord, and one of the very strongest ninja as our sensei, is pretty damn snowflake though. (Although does Itachi even have his mangekyou sharingan here?)

For my part I want to endorse smoke grenades and trip wires of the sort I believe Sasuke used against orochimaru in the forest - if we're quick at placing them, anyway. I don't know whether we have the skills to use them properly.

You spend the little free time you have staring out your window out to Konoha below. On your desk, you have a few keepsakes- Ebisu’s charred headband, nearby to mother’s- the symbol of Kumogakure crossed out on it’s face. You knew precious little of why she chose to leave- according to Father, it wasn’t something she spoke about often. You knew Father’s travels took him all over- those early days of the Third Shinobi World War is where much of his fortune was made. He lost a lot of travelling companions during that time- and even sold the information he learned about enemy nations while traveling to Danzo- but when he met your mother, the story changed.

He said he found her wounded, far from the Kumo border- a victim of some skirmish, most likely. He had connections at a nearby temple, and brought her there for healing; though it quickly became evident that was the battles were flaring up again, he’d need to stay for some time.

You aren’t sure if it was Father that convinced her to leave- he really doesn’t seem the type, although he can certainly be persuasive. He also isn’t the most reliable storyteller- his propensity to embellish stories always has you taking him with just a grain of salt.


Regardless, the villages are hostile now- you suppose the truth of the matter will likely always be a little obscured.

Changing into your pajamas, you tuck yourself into bed, grabbing Yume for emotional support.

In some ways, you’ll always miss your mother. You cannot help but wonder just how different you would be if she had been around- and what things she could’ve taught you.

But, you also like your life now- your friends, and your aspirations. There’s no telling how different life would be- or even how you would be. It’s a strange thought- and one that eventually drifts off into sleep.

Itachi’s training certainly straightened out your daily routine- even if you really didn’t want it to.

Might as well get ready, then.

Dressing in the Silver and Fur outfit you requested, you take the time to fit your utility belt around the waist- it may clash slightly, but your tools are important.

Smoke bombs, Wire, Kunai, Shuriken, Explosive tags- you make sure you have an ample supply of each, just in case.

You reattach the Samurai’s Katana to your belt- and take a breath.

You take some time to do your hair properly, and give your nails a fresh coat of paint.

As the sun climbs higher, you feel like you should be ready- but before you leave, there’s something you need to say.

Walking over to your desk, you address the two headbands.

“Mother- Ebisu-sensei- I’ll make you both proud.”

It’s not exactly a prayer- but you’ve never really been the praying-type.

Heading downstairs, you can see Maru has prepared a light breakfast- to go, thankfully, as you don’t have the time to be wrangling with her this morning.

As you eat, the din of the Orchestra warming up reaches your ears- good. They know their places, and when to play; it’s almost time for the show to begin.

Once you’ve finished, you start the long walk down to the arena. It’s been six months since the last exams ended- and you’re determined to leave these as the victor.

Because you left so early, you have little company on Konoha’s streets. When you reach the Arena, the only people that seem to be about are the tenders- though you quickly spot Genma among them.

You hail him, and approach. For a split second, you see concern on his face, but it’s gone nearly as quickly as it arrived.

“Morning, Tsuki. Ready for the first round?” He asks.

“As I’ll ever be. Should I head in?” you respond.

Honestly, ninjutsu is something you got to dedicate your whole life to.

Puppetry has the advantage in that in everythign it requires we have intense buffs in it. We can easily master jutsu, our control is near unmatchable, and we can easily invent new puppets fast enough (And have enough manpower to manufactor them) that we could make a new puppet for every major mission, then throw it out and never use it again.


In fact I'd go to say the only reason we don't appear DESIGNED to go to puppets is the fact all the players seem to loathe the very idea of doing it to the point it never even got to get to vote.

Granted we don't NEED puppets, but if there is ANYONE who could use puppets, its Tsuki.

That is also not including the whole meta of "Wargle would not let us make a character unplayable because it will destroy his own quest". This isnt dnd, Wargle only has to balance the game for one person.


There is only ONE reason not to take puppets, which is the same reason not to take Rabbits, or take taijutsu, and it is "I dont want to use puppets I find them lame."

And thats a completely reasonable reason because the only arguement a pro puppet guy has is "I think puppets are cool and I want them."
