"Yes Master, I've heard stories of masked Sith, walking the battlefield and killing all in their path. Mysterious and unreadable. I like the sound of that."

You say, as you whispered tales of indestructible nightmares by tired old men from the days of your youth.

"Very well, to your right there is a console for such commissions. Provide it with a work order to your specifications, and it will be delivered to you when it is ready."

Darth Incarnus says, motioning you toward a large computer on the right wall of the armory next to a large rack of laser rifles. You approach it, Watcher 18 hovering behind you to attend to any questions or needs you might have. The interface blinks into life, with a long and complicated form requesting personal information and verification of your station. After filling it out with some assistance from Cassidi the interface provides you a field in which to detail the specifications for your commission.

>Due to the unique nature of this interaction there will be a 15 minute interval where quest participants will be allowed to submit pictures or visual descriptions of a helmet or mask to be voted on by other participants. I will also be submitting some rough ideas provided at the end of last thread. This time limit may be altered depending on reader count to allow some people to meander into the quest since it's been so long. Afterward we will have a 10 minute voting period on the submitted entries to determine Xanth's head gear.

Of sorts. I wanted to cover the face and eyes, but keep the mouth somewhat visible so the person we're fighting can just about see the edges of our crazed grin.

Clearly the best.

B is shit because our smile is important to our character, I don't want to be expressionless

C is heavy, which is stupid because we're going for a quicker build, it'll look stupid if we go with light armor.

D is just laughably generic, fuck just being another random Sith peasant

E fucking blows, because again, thought we were going for a lighter, speedier build.

You write down the specifics and metrics for a heavy black, faceless helmet, with nothing but thick metal places between you and the world. Perhaps it is a selection of vanity, but you request that the portion covering your mouth and chin be retractable upon command, your smile has become a matter of pride to you, and those opponents who earn it's ire should see it. You request functionalities as well, that it be able to feed into your bionic eye, and provide you will night vision as you are accustomed to, as well as thermal and x-ray.

Once you are satisfied with your specifications you submit the forum and a small beep plays on the computer where the bored armory attendant lets out a low whistle.

"Those are some pretty heavy requests there my Lord. We can do it, but it'll take time. Perhaps a week or two to meet all your specifications."

He says, sounding a bit more proper now that he's addressing you directly.

"Consider it a reward for a job well done, provided you survive your mission with Zyr'rha."

Darth Incarnus states, addressing you bemused.

"Now then, if you have no more questions, we will go to the command room, and you will be fully briefed on the nature of your new assignment."

>>
>>620015
Brine! HUZZAH!

So let's talk about mask capabilities.

Do we have the option of picking from a set list? I feel it would take forever to decide what is even available for it, but something like

> The mask has audio and visual filtering capability to allow easier use of the force, blocking out distractions

> The mask has audio and visual enhancement capabilities, allowing for greater awareness whether in battle or during more covert actions

> The mask has advanced targeting systems and augmented reality systems, allowing for more accurate ranged wweapon use and aiding in technical work

> The mask is built simple but durable. It provides excellent head protection. Possible small upgrades are available such as low light enhancement or a filtration device for breathing.

Sort of like that.

Or not.

The shot they don't expect is the one that hits.

Actually I would prefer something like emp grenades or something for droids and shields.

>>620087
>C. "In the future can I return here on my own and request upgrades or changes to my equipment?"
>>
>>620109
Not for now, just because that would dedicate an entire thread to mask making. I decided to just go with some audio and visual enhancements that make sense. There will be small cameras all around the helmet that allow you to switch feeds and look around you 360 degrees, as well as night vision, thermal, and x-ray. Further upgrades will come eventually.

>A. Nod, and say nothing.

"In the future can I return here on my own and request upgrades or changes to my equipment? I'm interested in the possibility of acquiring some ranged weaponry down the line if that is a possibility for someone of my position."

You ask.

"Indeed you will, however any future transactions here will need to be paid for. What you've been given so far has been given to you to facilitate your growth as my Apprentice, now that you've been given the basics as well as the helmet you've commissioned, any future enhancements will be taken from your credits account. As for ranged weaponry... it's very unconventional for a Sith to use such a thing, considering most force wielders worth their mettle will be able to deflect such attacks. However I did not choose you for your conventional thinking, and there is nothing in place restricting you from such a purchase."

Darth Incarnus replies after some consideration.

"Now then, if there is nothing else, let us be off."

Darth Incarnus strides out of the room at a hurried pace that you meet easily, with Watcher 18 not far behind you. You sense her staring at the back of your head, though you are uncertain if there is any intention behind it or if she is simply following you mindlessly with her gaze.

>>620266
Speaking of range, what is the effective range of force powers like force lighting, force grip/choke ect.
>>
>>620298
The canon and the EU are both incredibly inconsistent. Depends on your strength, mostly.
>>
>>620278
>>620298
How much training do we need to do before we can Force Choke an entire room of Paladins like my boy Nazgrim?
>>
>>620298
Depends on the power of the user.
Darth Vader was (allegedly) the strongest Force user ever and he could Force Choke faggy Imperial officers even while being on the other side of the galaxy.
>>
>>620312
He could do that after he was gimped down by a shitton of Cybernetics and took penalties to his Use the Force roll.
>>
>>620312
And Starkiller/Galen could Force Pull a Star Destroyer out of atmosphere.

The SAGA d20 system allowed you to force lightning someone from across a planetary system using destiny points, but that's not a great source of canon.

You follow your master in silence through the labyrinth that is the Shadow Warden's HQ, catching glimpses of conversations and catching peeks into heavily fortified doors. In time you are brought to a massive room, filled with work stations where over a hundred agents appear to be working. The sound of clacking key strokes serve as a sort of white noise between hushed conversations.

"Welcome to the Command Room, my apprentice. This is hub of all information for the Shadow Wardens. Secrets the likes of which few could imagine pass through this room. This is also where Watcher 18 will be stationed while you are on your missions, working with the resources available to her to assist you."

Darth Incarnus says, with a large sweeping gesture. He walks and you follow, stealing glances this way and that at the agents around you, who seem to glance and whisper in kind. You are lead to a large raised platform in the center of the room upon which is a large chair and a holotable. Your Master seats himself and interacts with the table.

"So Xanth, tell me what you think."

Darth Incarnus asks calmly.

>What do you say?

>A. "It's impressive to say the least. How do you keep such a massive complex a secret?"
>B. "It's... big. And intimidating."

Ehh I wasn't here for that earlier to argue it one way or the other but.. Don't think that's nessasarily true. All depictions of stopping blaster bolts seem to be with hand motions of a sort or stopping them with a lightsaber. If we had some sort of hidden armor mounted blaster, we could use it to disable Jedi who are locked in saber combat with us.

"It's impressive to say the least. How do you keep such a massive complex a secret?"

You ask inquisitively.

"It's a conjoined effort between us and the Council's regulations. Any requests that require anyone to dig beneath a certain depth in the city are rejected. Anyone found breaking these rules are dealt with accordingly. On the off chance there's an information leak occurs or someone manages to find out through... alternate means. Well, we nip it at the bud let us say."

It doesn't take much brain power to understand his meaning and you nod solemnly.

"In any case, Watcher 18 will brief you on the particulars of your mission."

Your Master continues, nodding to Cassidi.

"Of course. The target is Ruunass Goekkoe, a middle tier crime boss on Nar Shaddaa. Ordinarily small fry like him don't even ping our radar, but we have received intel that he's got something that's drawn the attention of some very powerful people, including some nearby Republic officials. Strange thing is, we have no idea what it is. Everything we've heard is in code or double speak, and Ruunass has been working hard to ensure the Empire isn't involved in the conversation. Apparently he has a distaste for us after breaking up a small spice chain he was running. Naturally, this is concerning."

She says, her voice sounding crisp and official.

"There's going to be a meeting in approximately one standard week where he will reveal the item and auction it off. We're going to take it before that can happen."

She finishes.

>What do you do?

>A. Remain silent, and wait for further information.
>B. "What kind of resistance will I be looking at?"
>C. "So is my job to kill the Hutt and get whatever this thing is?"
>D. "Will anyone from the Republic be showing up? Should I be concerned about Jedi?"

>>
>>620584
Pretty much. Or if we had to take out regular people from a distance we could do that instead of throwing our lightsaber.

Also shields exist, as do weapons to disable them.

Everyone forgets that not all Jedi are equal. Like, we ourselves couldn't stop a shotgun blast right now with the force.

Explosives are also a bitch. It would be neat to throw grenades and use the force to guide them/counter Jedi force use and detonate it with the force.

Maybe have the grenades be two parts that have to be connected to work so other Jedi can't force explode them.

Also considering the range weaponry, if we are fighting Jedi perhaps we should forgo blasters. Weaponry like our with physical slugs are considered primitive in this universe, but yea a shotgun blast like that would probably be extremely effective and surprising to lightly armored opponents.

"What kind of resistance will I be looking at?"

You ask.

"Originally opposition was thought to be minimal, which is why it was a one woman job, however if Lady Zyr'rha is to be believed they're shored up their defenses. Either we have a leak or a second threat has made it's presence known to Runnass at the worst possible time. In any case we've reports of a large contingency of average thugs swarming his building, as well as at least one Mandelorian who is with the Hutt at all times."

Watcher 18 responds.

"Currently the plan is to have you enter and cause chaos. Kill anyone you can, and catch the attention of Runnass. This should direct the brunt of his less lethal forces toward you, which will allow Lady Zyr'rha to infiltrate Runnass's quarters with little resistance, so she can handle the Bounty Hunter, and take possession of the package."

She finishes looking up to you. There is a silence in the air as she waits for a response.

>What do you say?

>A. "Very well, when do I leave?"
>B. "This sounds more like a suicide mission for me then a way to prove myself."
>C. "So Zyr'rha gets to have the fun, and I'm left killing the dregs?"

"Very well, when do I leave?"

You ask, masking the irritation you feel being designated as bait.

"We will have a transport ready for you by tomorrow mid-day. You should have plenty of time to sleep and become acquainted with your new quarters in the mean time."

Watcher 18 replies cheerfully.

"You have the rest of the day to yourself, though it is getting later into the afternoon. There is a gym as well as a few recreational areas here in the headquarters if you are curious, or you are free to return to your quarters. Also, there should be a data station near the entrance of this room that will provide your communicator with a map of the headquarters. Do try your best not to let it be seen by the wrong people. You are dismissed."

Darth Incarnus says as he gingerly stands and makes his way toward the back of the Command Room.

Couple of things.

I feel we could have asked if there is anyone in particular we should try to kill if possible.

Also if there is anyone we should try and save or protect to throw suspicion on them. If Runnass knows about us, it might be worth it to hide that a Sith was doing this, or that someone sold him out and is now working with us.

Are we expected to, and if so what is the plan if lady Zyr'hra needs backup?

Finally how are we expected to be extracted.

Personal preference would be to infiltrate before the event to gain access to lower security areas to plant bombs, and then blow those after the attack starts to make it look like we're the distraction for a direct assault, or to create an exit or make them think we are.

Maybe hang behind instead assault rend trap delegates vehicles to catch them as they flee.
>>
>>621356
Also so glad you're back!
>>
>>621359
i still think we need more information to. Maybe we can ask Watcher 18 about that mando. We can ask her about the hutt's main bodyguards and also about his contacts.
>>
>>621359
Definitely want to see about taking some explosives with us. I can hardly think of a better way to create a distraction as well as take out most of the lower security than to use some well placed bombs, perhaps in conjunction with some force telekinesis. Also our cybernetic eye allows us to see in the dark, maybe if we can get dropped in a little earlier we can find where the keep the power and disable it. If disabling the power makes the doors inoperable because we're in a galaxy far far away, well.. We can always make a hole Obi-wan style.
>>
>>621455
Well. At least we have to figure out how we're getting in, and how we're getting out.

Also does our Master want us to be blatantly Sith, or be more mysterious. Like, if we're blatant maybe we should leave some people alive to spread the word vs. No witnesses.

Also people we should try to kill vs. Try to not kill if that's a concern. Flashbacks to the Witcher 1 where helping smugglers ended up with the death of a main quest giving NPC. Like, if there's a dude who we work with there, or a less competent enemy, maybe we shouldn't kill him.
>>
>>621634
Well and like I said, it could draw off more security forces, but also maybe open an escape route for us. Or close one off after we use it. Or use the opportunity to eliminate "powerful people" that are inconvenient.
>>
Also in regards to slug-thrower weapons from Wookiepedia: "For example, during the days of the Galactic Republic, mercenaries fearing an intervention by Jedi Knights used rapid-fire slugthrowers that were impossible to completely deflect with a lightsaber, unlike blaster bolts."
They can also be outfitted with silencers and specialty ammo types, as well as not providing tracers that can be seen with the eye.
>>
>>621855
Don't forget H1K1 advice. Hostages yo.
>>
>>621855
So we should pick up a ppsh 41and take the bolt weight out.
>>
>>621897
Owe shit I forgot about him.. Yea lets heed the words of one of the most badass assassin droids in history to help us destroy meat-bags. Though I'm not sure how hostages are applicable in this scenario unless we can get the slug. Then we'll have everyone in the facility's eyes on us for her to snatch the item. Something to keep in mind, we'll see how it plays out.
>>
>>621963
Hostages are more applicable for neutralizing Jedi. Like Joker style where stopping us means sacrifices.

Or if we can find a relative, making them emotional and messing with a specific Jedi nemesis. Or turning a relative who is estranged.

Or even just taking a hostage to escape and actually releasing them later, making the Jedi think we can be redeemed. A lot of them are suckers for that. Like, just not being sadistic can get them to fight half-heartedly
>>
>>622538
Some of them are dicks as well, that murder whole families and then kidnap the daughter in the hopes of making her into a jedi before she escapes from them.

Who else is thinking we open the doors with a good old fashioned terrorist truck bomb piloted by a droid?

Then come in afterwards with a mounted 50 Cal or blaster equivalent on the back of a truck, piloted by another droid, and just start fucking rampaging in the goddamn compound.

We are there to cause a distraction and chaos, and Oh Boy! would that be something.

Maybe the truck would be something out of Mad Max Fury Road or something.

And we shouldn't be dressed as a full blown Sith. Deception is a part of warfare. We should look like a mercenary and attack with the skillset of one until cornered. We go the saber/force using route when we have no choice or to use it when necessary.
>>
>>623412
or we can just be crafty and form a group to rob the hutt then with our happy bunch work as a distraction. It doesn't matter if the cooperators live or die. Since we will kill then in the end to keep our envolvement a secret.

You make your way over to the data center your Master described to you and sync your communicator to it, after a minute or so, your communicator's new function displays clearly. Many of the rooms are offices or meeting rooms, some hold various miscellaneous purposes such as small holding cells, interrogation rooms, as well as servers storage facilities. On the floor below you is the prison that Darth Incarnus mentioned, the highest security prison in the Empire according to him. The size of it stuns you, and you wonder just what kind of people must be down there.

Aside from that, there is a gym, a force training room for the force sensitive Shadow Wardens, a cafeteria, as well as a library. You are also easily able to retrace your steps with the help of the map and find your way back to the elevator that brought you from your apartment.

The rest of the day is yours to use as you see fit.

>What would you like to do?

>A. Go to the force sensitive training room, your mastery of the force isn't up to your expectation, and you'd like to improve them.
>B. Go to the gym, you want to be in peak physical condition for your mission.
>C. Go the the cafeteria, you'd like to socialize with some of the other Wardens and you haven't eaten since you landed.
>D. Go to the library, see what kind of info the Wardens deem worthy of keeping in their Headquarters.
>E. Speak with Watcher 18
>F. Return to your new apartment and spend the rest of the day getting settled.
>>
>>627615
Like, are we going in solo or do we have some sort of overwatch team to help us out?

Especially for Extraction.

Also how would our Master like us to leave the scene? Make it clear who did it, or try to avoid recognition?

Anything he wants us to do while providing a distraction? Despite our current station, we ARE still capable of such complex tasks like "Don't kill these guys" or "Make sure to kill these guys" or even "Try to draw them out to a specific spot and then trigger explosive placed earlier to cut them off from reinforcing sneaky steal lady."

Does he have any advice for if we DO somehow have to face the Mandalorian? Not like we've fought one before, they sound kind of tough.

Even if we can't I'm sure we could spare a brief introduction before training.
>>

Then we can decide if it's more important to recruit allies, focus on our force abilities or physical capabilities, or do research.

Or just chill.

Why does the Apartment seem like a flag? Getting settled, is that a euphemism for checking for bugs and setting traps, and planning escape routes and checking out fire lanes in the surrounding streets?

Eh, I'm just full of bile right now. Kind of drunk.

At least I know everyone isn't metagaming though from these votes. Thaaaats cool.

Not like force training is bad or anything either. I just feel it kind of defeats the purpose of talking to Watcher 18 about shit if it locks us into that instead of getting info from the other watchers or the library.

Rmember how we used to put effort into things like building relationships and learning the Sith language instead of just relying on the force and smashing up shit?

And how that really paid off?

I would like the opportunity to do that to stick around. I mean, we also smash stuff real good., and there's definitely a time where that's the smart thing to do.

But remember the last thread when we fought our master? And we barely succeeded with a crit?

We aren't top dog anymore, and I would rather not go in cocky that we can just force roar our way out of shit. Maybe an extraction team that could provide intel and covering fire would be useful. Maybe not. Maybe a Watcher in the Cafeteria has been grooming a contact in the republic and can get us in, and would also appreciate us getting his contact out and we could start building our social links which is a major strength of ours.

Maybe not.

I just really want us to not forget how we played Xanth before and what worked for him vs. what didn't.

You approach Watcher 18, who has walked over to a nearby work station which you presume is hers and has begun chatting with another Agent. Upon seeing you approach she straightens, nods to her peer and smiles at you with a quick salute.

"My Lord! Is everything to your liking? Can I assist you with anything?"

She asks.

"Ms. Vance, would you mind accompanying me to the Force Sensitive training room? I had some questions for you about the mission and I'd like to discuss them on the way there."

You ask, trying to meet the fine line of polite while still being authoritative.

"Oh, of course my Lord! I was going to brief you further on the situation while you were on your transport there, but there's no harm in telling you now!"

She beams.

The two of you make your way down the corridor nearest to the training room.

Don't be too discouraged, its a single option, not a whole swath of timeskip training, etc. And while I agree intel and networking is good I'm sure we will be provided with a sufficient, if not overly large, amount for this mission (which is essentially causing a ruckus). Relationships are good but for the mission we are about to embark on more subtle uses of our force powers could really benefit us, as you said we're not an apex predator in the grand scheme of things at the moment (although God help mook number #43). In any case this choice affects little at the moment so don't worry. If it becomes a trend though I can definitely agree that pure powerstacking/training is a diminishing return, and frankly out of character

Somehow I got a feeling that a fair few people here are new and don't seem to understand that Xanth already has a waifu and even a chiss fuck buddy that our waifu is very okay with.

So just a bit if preemptive shot in the dark here.
Lets not have a resume of waifu wars here, it's already been over for a whole year.

Of course our waifu and fuck buddy are going to be gone for a long time but that is to be expected, patience and shutting the fuck up about screwing anything with a vagina is key.

Not to mention they are force users and Sith, so you do not want to go down that road of pissing them off.

> Waifu wars

We solved that problem already with Polygamy, did you forget?

Besides, getting close to our observer is just good sense, we're just gauging the distance. Nobody says we have to fuck her.

But if it's advantageous to do so, we sure as hell will. We aren't exclusive in any sense, although we should expect Niveneh to be excepting necessity.

Nobody cares about Chiss. She's second in line, and the only thing that's important with that relationship is that she keeps in mind that we're pretty much the best thing she will ever find.

did YOU forget who was in charge of the relationships in the past?

READ. THE. QUEST.

Come on guys, we aren't sharing glory with them. They're tools just like our explosives. Good tools, useful tools, tools we would want to learn the names of and make them feel like we value them, so they in turn will value us.

But still tools. Meatshields, back-up plans, covering fire, extra distractions etc.

We could even dress them up like us and have them appear at different areas to make it seem like a BUNCH of Sith are attacking, or that we're somehow able to be several places at once.

I guess. I would like people to remember that we were being very muted in our personality because our Master is fucking scary, and we're the little fish, and we don't know the political lay of the land yet.

But we are normally aggressive and overly confident a little and about pushing boundaries a bit.

I'm sure anyone who reads the quest would pick that up.

I'll stop being so bitchy now though. I mean, it might just be me worrying too much after the hiatus and the new board. Everyone is here to play after all, it's not just MY game.

I'd say that it's more like sex is a secondary concern to power. It's nice enough, but all of our relationships are built to reinforce our power and position first and foremost, and the sex is just kind of a side benefit and a tool to reinforce that.

I mean, we actually had to push Niveneh away from becoming TOO dependent on us. Because that WAS running the risk (and honestly still does) of her going full Yandere.

Chiss was another sexing of opportunity, and even then we brought her into the relationship in a way to reinforce that Niveneh is first wife, and we're top dog, since it was pretty much a reward for Niveneh as much as an opportunity to more thoroughly dominate Chiss.

Our relationship with her is much more about power dynamic than it is with Niveneh, who is actually trustworthy, as much as anyone can be trustworthy. Like, she's dog-levels of loyalty.

Whereas Chiss is ours so long as we're harder than she is, and she is even willing to overlook temporary weaknesses because she knows we'll just get harder with time. But if she thought we were crippled or flawed she would take us down. Probably even out of a twisted sense of compassion.
>>
I want to do an MC recap of the character known as xanth.

So he:
>was a slave
>channels hate from past as a slave
>largely grew past that feeling of hate
>uses ecstasy as a primary motivator instead
>ecstasy stems from sex, the thrill of the fight, and a sense of overwhelming freedom.

So what we have here is a horn dog beefcake with a masochistic side that presumably has generally good intentions. It would seem that he has good intentions and empathy, but most of it is largely disregarded in the thrill of the fight.

So out of all of the emotions that glorious xanth has, the sense of freedom is the safest short term motivator but the most dangerous long term, his battle thirst is very precarious short term which could lead to some serious long term regret. And the sex is a long term hazard as well due to his unquenchable love juice thirst, which is hard at sustaining any long term female connections.

I think this nigga needs to slow the fuck down, he's obviously going to fuck himself if he doesn't, and it'll be really bad if it ever does come down to it.
>>
>>627935
They aren't Sith or Jedi.

But whenever they become a liability. Note: If in combat, it's a much better choice to tell them to surrender and try to gather information for you, and that you'll rescue them later.

And then booby trap them so that they blow up any pursuers when they do.

Or, I mean, if they don't know anything you might as well let them. They'll even feel more in debt to you if you DO rescue them.
>>
>>627957
It's not ecstasy, it's joy. They're kinda different.

>>627950
It's Nivah senpai.
>>
>all these new anons
>Not knowing the joy of how our sith is.
>>
>>627957
I wouldn't say he has good intentions exactly, he definitely still has something to prove because of his slave background.

We were notable for our exceptional cruelty, remember all the crippling we did?

More like we're determined to enjoy our power and not get caught up in petty bullshit that could screw over our plans of getting more power, partially for safety and partially to rub it in the faces of the nobility that a slave is better than them.

> Slow down

What do you think the previous threads and this one were? We were very humble and quiet until we suss out the lay of the land.

But slowing down isn't an option for Sith. It's a race and there's no prize for second place.

Hell, did you not pick up that we use FORCE RAGE for our special move? We are totally committed to controlling ourselves in battle because of it ironically, and spent a lot of time in the quest developing the control needed for it.

As for sex, it's a tool. We enjoy it, but we are ALWAYS on top, and it's not even a motivator compared to power.

Honestly, most of our empathy is just "why waste energy being a dick" because that seems to fuck over a lot of Sith, especially at this stage.
>>
>>627972
I'm so bad with names.>>627957
>>
>>627957
Just to clarify, nothing about us is horn-dog, masochistic, or beefcake. We put a lot of effort into our social skills anon, because we were coming into the place a slave and didn't have any Sith-Lord mommies to back us up or connections with the Mentors.

But we do love fighting and using our powers, and we're good at it, and anybody who thinks that's all we're good at is in for a nasty surprise.

We're fucking spiral power, that's what we are.

"So, do I have any priority targets aside from the Hutt and the bounty hunter? Anyone I should avoid or target? I was also curious as to what I have access to while I'm there? Any explosives or munitions? How creative can I get?"

You ask, your heavy foot falls creating a cadence down the sleek metal hallway. Perhaps its the way you dress, or the air about you, but personnel of all shapes and sizes snap to attention or give you a wide berth at your passing. It's still very new to you, but you find yourself liking it.

"There are a few names of note, his Security Chief Krortha Zarn is said to be a good shot with a blaster rifle. He's also got a wild card, a Duros by the name of Caid Jin. We don't have a lot of information on him, but he works closely with Ruunass. We suspect he may be an information broker of sorts. While they're not important in regards to the mission it may pay to be aware of who they are. They have enough of a name in the Underworld you may get some recognition for killing them if you're ever back planet-side and anyone witnesses it."

She comments, referencing a tablet with a scrolling list of information.

"As for what you have access to, quite little unfortunately. The mission was originally meant to be a stealth mission. Maybe two to five casualties at most, so no funds were designated to the operation, and the time it would take to work past the red tape necessary to get funds would take more time then we have. I may be able to acquiesce some grenades and a few bricks of explosives, but nothing crazy."

Cassidi continues.

She asks.

I like to think the being silent stuff is a part of the ex-slave mentality. He wouldn't have talked when around the slavers unless asked something, and the other slaves would have stolen his extra ration bar if they heard him talking about it.
So as much as he has tried, and succeeded, and distancing himself from that stuff, he still does a few things, maybe without realising.

Alright, so the thing is? We aren't a slave anymore. And we kind of have a chip on our shoulder about it, which is why we were brash and flashy and all about JOY! as our powering emotion.

The last thing Xanth is going to do is to fall back into his slave habits, he's far more likely to deliberately act against them just for the sheer JOY of finally being able to do so, and if it tweaks some nobles all the better.

But the thing is, we were a monster at the Academy. Top student in combat, got a rare technique and extra training for FORCE RAGE, made enemies into allies (Chiss, wossname Roderick?) and CRUSHED our enemies from the very start, out-witted and murdered a noble and GOT AWAY WITH IT even though his mom turned out to be an insanely spooky Sith-Lord.

And then after succeeding so fucking hard at everything and validating all of our boasting and proving that despite starting a slave we were special and simply better than everyone else, we had a duel with our master.

Who beat us the fuck down. Go read it. Note that to even counterattack we had to roll a crit.

Also, you know, the trial put us on the radar for Sith Lords who are so far above us it's laughable.

And our mentors took us aside and were all like "Look, tone the cockiness down until you know what's going on, because this was the playpen."

So the cockiness is part of us, and WILL come out unless you faggots don't ever read the quest and throw everything out the window.

So, yeah, we are silent a lot. But we aren't demure or deferential except to our master because every second with him is too precious for learning and our career to waste with games.

We're only silent in combat because we're kind of a dick and it pisses people off.

"Get what you mentioned, as much of it as you can. I have some ideas."

You mention, the beginnings of a cruel smile gracing your lips. Watcher 18 looks to you curiously, seemingly unaffected by your smirk.

"I also was wondering, should I avoid leaving witnesses, or do we want to leave a message that the Empire is not to be trifled with?"

You ask as the two of you round a bend, getting closer to the training room.

"Truth be told that is at your discretion my Lord. So long as there is no evidence leading to the Wardens and the mission is completed, you are free to act as you see fit."

She replies with a smile.

You are swiftly approaching the training center, this may be your last opportunity to ask any questions.

>What do you say?

>A. "Thank you Ms. Vance, for the moment I believe you've answered all of my questions."

We also have a Sith Hound. It speaks the old Sith language, which we also know. and was partially responsible for getting us extra training and definitely saved our asses during the trial.

Anyways, we should consider bringing him along. He's sapient, too.

Ok so with what we have available money wise here's the plan:

Stage 1 prep-
>Acquire canister of explosive gas
>carve out a groove in a musical instrument to house said canister
>acquire musical attire

Stage 2 prep
>find homeless spice drugie bro near the compound
>give him some spare credits along with a nice bot implanted in the chip armed with a virus.

Stage 3 setup
>locate a side exit or some such where maintenance personnel frequent
>have a fake plumber squad or some shit with 18 in there giving us status on that side of the compound.

Hers how it should happen

>we sneak into the compound after we change into our musician shit. Our clothes in a briefcase as we hand it off to 18. Presumably we already do the exchange with homeless bro.
>drug exchange happens and lackey gets the virus credits
>we play for our most esteemed guests as the transaction is about to be made and 18 and the plumber squad check shit out
>credits are inserted into the banking system and all of the lights and systems in the compunction go apeshit. Plumbers squad tries to fake shit. We start to find a good place to fix the gas up in the comotion.
>we Partion off the capsule and ninja the fuck out. Throw a match or some shit. Maybe start a fight with the force to make it seem more hectic and have the Don stuck in place so he doesn't escape
>gas blows up and we btfo
>change back into 47 suit in the change room.
>move out with the plumber squad in the dead of night.

We could have the bug both scramble the shit out of the compound and steal all of the spice dudes data and money.

I'm pretty proud of myself right now.

> He's also got a wild card, a Duros by the name of Caid Jin. We don't have a lot of information on him, but he works closely with Ruunass. We suspect he may be an information broker of sorts. While they're not important in regards to the mission it may pay to be aware of who they are. They have enough of a name in the Underworld you may get some recognition for killing them if you're ever back planet-side and anyone witnesses it.

Dude. Fuck killing that guy, let's go talk to him. He's an information broker, so he should be able to figure it out when we tell him that the Hutt is going down.

Especially since by "talk" I mean "Kidnap" as a favor for his "protection". I bet he'll be so appreciative that he'll have all sorts of information for us about how to get in there, and how to deal with Duros.

Hutts aren't known for inspiring loyalty in their mercenaries.

Or since we aren't known here we could try to just pay him to smuggle us in. Pretend to have some sort of stupid scheme that we want to convince the Hutt to fund. It doesn't even have to be terribly clever or workable, probably better if it isn't actually, we just have to seem desperate for a backer and willing to pay to get in.

And then we kill him, if that's what people want to do.

**NEW SIDE MISSION - LOOT**

So what you're telling me is we have to loot some shit while we're there?
>>
>>628160
So let's throw in a sedative syringe in there as well. A musician has to have at least one spare pocket no?

Question is, how to separate him? We could totally use the force to manipulate someone into pushing into him or some shit like that. The more discrete the better

And if we are working off of my plan we also have the bugged credits which should take over the system and relay the info and cash stored in the compound into 18's phone or whatever the fuck it's called in Star Wars. By method of proxy of course.
>>
>>628171
> They are Sapient

Let me just reiterate that for you. Because it sounds like you want to convince him to raise a pack. Which he might not even be against, but might also be pretty inconvenient. Especially since given their nature we would want to spend a lot of time around them to make sure they imprint on US as the Alpha.

I'm going to pretend you weren't thinking about selling his offspring.
>>
>>628180
Both, I wanted a pack so our 'friends' could have loyal Sith hounds around them...loyal to us of course... plus they'd be nice to expand our influence if we're shown to be able to raise them.

>And if we are working off of my plan we also have the bugged credits which should take over the system and relay the info and cash stored in the compound into 18's phone or whatever the fuck it's called in Star Wars. By method of proxy of course.

I must confess, I have no idea where that is coming from or if it's even possible.

It just seems to me like the easiest way to get in there, and in a position where we can neutralize or kill the broker and the Duros quickly is to just pay them to get us in.

For doors, we have a lightsaber. Or just intimidating whoever is guarding it if they have the misfortune of being on the same side as us.

Honestly, if we can even work something out with the Broker that makes it look like him and Duros chased us off at the end, that might be ideal. We get a safer getaway, the Duros gets to keep his job and pay as a mercenary.

No reason for them to kill us if we aren't trying to kill them, we're just sending a message to the Hutt. Even if they did kill us, all that would do is make THEM a target for the Sith. Not because we're valuable, but because they don't let anyone go against them unscathed.

So, the Broker gets paid by us, the Duros gets paid by the Hutt, nobody gets shot in the back or stabbed or horribly and brutally mangled and torn apart by an angry Sith, everybody goes home happy and we now have a working relationship with an information broker outside of the Sith command structure.

Then we could plant her with a badge or a necklace or some shit with the republic sign or some allied gang to insinuate bad feels and distrust and investigative confusion over the Jedi council.
>>
>>628185
Only I was tempted by possible money, gotcha.

Fair enough. Just maybe something for later when we don't have just an apartment.

I suppose we could give the first one to our Master. No sense trying to imprint it though, and I'd honestly rather he sees we have the good sense to keep our power struggles to our own level. Everyone else can think we're an idiot, but not him.

"Is there anything else I should be aware of that I wouldn't know to ask about?"

You ask, taking one last turn down another corridor.

"Nothing I can thing of to be honest... aside from Lady Zyr'rha herself. I hate to speak ill of her, but seeing as I'm under your command I feel I should warn you. She's gained a reputation for her behavior, namely rumor says she killed the last apprentice that Darth Incarnus took on after seducing him, though nobody can prove it. I would be cautious when interacting with her."

She says beneath her breath.

You consider this for a moment and nod, recalling your Master's own warnings.

"While we're on the subject... between you and I, should I know anything about my Master that may not be immediately apparent?"

You ask.

There is a noticeable shift in mood when you say this, Watcher 18's eyes dart around to ensure nobody is in earshot before responding as both of you come to a stop in front of the training room.

"Darth Incarnus is a very powerful man, so much so that many members of the Dark Council fear him. I would be careful asking questions like that in the future."

She replies softly.

"But... he is a man with very high expectations, and a very low tolerance for failure. He is very selective when he picks his apprentices, and there are two kinds he picks. Those he intends to keep, and those he views as expendable, given how well you performed in the Academy, I believe you are the former, but it would behoove you to act with caution on your missions."

She replies, before swiftly returning to her bright and chipper attitude.

"Is there anything else I can help you with my Lord?"

She asks.

But if, say, we could get proof that Zyr'rha was trying to kill us . . . like say if a certain watcher who was supposed to keep quiet about it while it was going down were to inform the Master, and he were to come see us kill her in clear self defense . . .

What do you think of my plan, get Taral to scout it out and drop off explosives, maybe even just cheap flashbangs.

Go set up a deal with the Broker to get in, and the Duros to let us cause some havoc before he can come in and "save the day" and drive us off. If he kills us another will come, and now he'll be the target and the message, and I doubt the Hutt is going to hire a mercenary to protect a mercenary. We aren't killing his boss, so he still has a job afterwards.

Which is why mercenaries suck.

Record the deal for blackmail later.

Meh, it's a big shindig at a crime bosses place.

I say we loot corpses if we see anything shiny, but ideally we will steal a sweet ride to get out of there on. Probably easier to force someone to drive us in there's so we don't have to worry about security locks and shit.

Anyways, kick them out halfway and tell them the car is the price for sparing their life, and sell it off. The Broker could probably hook us up for a commission.

Hrm. It occurs to me we could also probably convince the Broker and maybe the Duros a little more by seeing if there's anyone they want dead there. I mean, the Broker at least has to have competitors there, and while we're killing people might as well.

I mean, it's not like we have to show her everything we have.

Can we switch to working on our sword forms, so that it looks like we're actually a bit weaker in the force than are?

Remember, us working with Niveh was weird, Chiss alone was strange but more familiar power dynamic, but actual affection and trust squicked everyone out.

Given that Niveh is crazy strong in the force, it could easily be mistaken that we relied on her force powers for our . . . extracurricular activities a bit more than we should have.

> They have no reason not to sell us out.

Maybe not getting fucking shanked then and there?

I mean, why get shot and stabbed for the Hutt anyways when instead they can do their job, just . . . not as efficiently as possible.

There's also the threat of getting shanked even if they do kill us. Like I said, the Hutt ain't going to hire a merc to protect a merc.

All the Duros guy has to do is be on the other side or something, or we can "knock him out" and he will bravely struggle through to fight off the rampaging Sith and save the day.

I dunno man, getting paid to NOT fight is like every Mercenaries dream, so long as it doesn't hurt their wallet or their rep they're golden.

The Hutt already knows there's Sith here anyways, but let me tell you how powerful he is - they were only going to send One Sith Apprentice after the dude.

It was specifically stated that he's suddenly playing above his level.

So yeah, I don't see them being willing to die for a paycheck, and definitely not for a Hutt.

Fantastic, one less guy to deal with. For some reason I thought there were two of them.

So yeah. Bribe the broker to let us in and wreck some shit, and in exchange we make sure he lives through it. And he gets paid! And we record it, so if he tries to go to the Wardens we reveal his treachery and ruin his rep so we can kill him easier.

If he lies to us, we shank him ahead of time and use his ship to crash the party after stealing everything in his house.

I mean, can you see the value of having an independent information source? We don't know who Zyr'rha might be working with, with or without mind control.

If we really, really wanted to be a dick I suppose we could arrange for him to send the Trandoshan Captain to guard the Hutt and make her life more difficult. I mean, technically she's after the mysterious item not the Hutt anyways so really it's not interfering with her mission. If the Hutt happens to be near or around the item and she gets caught, well, she should have been more skilled.

> I want space /pol/ to leave

I mean, you know we're banging one alien and our dog is actually another one? Besides, I'm trusting universal self interest. See, by the time we make him the offer he should, as an information broker, realize that refusing it would only mean we would be killing him now.

Alternatively, we can make everyones job a little easier. He tips off the Trandoshan Captain and looks good, we get to party hardy around the front and occupy the troops, and I guess Zyr'rha might have a harder time if she fucks up and is seen but it won't be our fault she wasn't up to sneaking in and out.

I feel sure the Broker can come up with a reason that will get the Captain to stay by the Hutt but still send the majority of the forces after us.

And if not, we ride to the rescue and look good.

>>
>>628331
Also, before I die of exhaustion I just want to point out that my goal here is to turn the information broker so we can work with him.

Sense motive ain't our best skill, but our doggo can back us up.

More importantly we really need our own separate power base outside the Sith structure, that our competition has had a major head-start on infiltrating and consolidating.

Remember: This was originally a one-apprentice job, they were just gonna blow some shit up or whatever. This guy is small-time. Worst comes to worst we can always just kill the broker ahead of time, and torture all the information out of him.

Remember, Sith are fucking terrifying already, and we've put a lot of effort into being unsettling.

Or, if you don't remember, READ THE QUEST,

I will, ONCE AGAIN, point out that we put a lot of time into developing social links all throughout the quest and building up a powerbase and we just had that ripped away.

We WILL be fucked if we don't start rebuilding that, and that the difficulty has jumped up now that we're out of the Academy.

>Critical Success

In a moment of clarity, you truly look at Cassidi Vance for the first time since you've met her. You take in everything that she is in front of you, and you discover... disturbingly little. When most people interact with you and other Sith, you've noticed small ticks or tells that people give away when in the presence of someone of such authority.

With Watcher 18, you notice a distinct lack of that, and she is much more calm then you would expect. Aside from that, you sense no malice, or secondary motivations in her request. From what you can tell she genuinely wants to watch you in order to be able to better assist you.

I'm not saying he's jewing us.

I'm saying that a precise reading isn't the same as an accurate one. What we got was

> She is abnormally calm and has no ticks or tells.
> We sense no malice or secondary motivations.
> FROM WHAT WE CAN TELL

I'm just saying, Maybe we bust out some force tricks and try to appear more tired than we usually are.

Maybe she's on the level.

Maybe she's a droid.

Maybe she's mind controlled.

Maybe she has some sort of resistance training or whatever, which may or may not be normal for watchers.

Maybe she's only interested in helping us now, but that could change. Just because there's no malice or motivation now doesn't mean we should trust her.

I would like the chance to compare her to the other watchers if we have a chance.

You respond with a soft smile.

Cassidi beams at you.

"Thank you very much my Lord! I'll be sure to take copious notes; the more data the better!"

Her eagerness rubs off on you a bit as you enter. The room is blank and featureless, with clean metal walls. The only thing that indicates the room has any function are several trap door panels the ceiling and walls.

"Well then... let us begin."

You say with a smirk.

I'm aware that anyone can thrive off emotions, that's what I was trying to say. Although thriving off emotions is strictly dark side, no matter the emotions.

Nah. It became a sith thing later on. Greys also did the same thing however as did the Jetti beforethe schism if i remember correctly.
>>
>>628759
Yes, it became a Sith thing, but because the Sith use the Dark Side. The Dark and Light sides are not sentient inventions, they existed long before the Jedi and the Sith. It was the use of emotions and therefore the Dark Side that caused the Je'Daii to splinter, if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure the Jedi are the most powerful when they reach a tranquil state of mind, and kind of give themselves to the force. Their kind of like space Buddhists, once again, perhaps not all of them, but that is what seems to be the norm.
>>
>>628763
Nah. It was the siths corruption due to using force sabers. They forced a person down the darkside because all raknie? Weapons worked and lived off dark energy/force.

I believe you're talking about the Rakata?

And you're right, they always used the Dark/Light side in balance.

But regardless, the Dark Side has always been the raw and emotional side of the Force.
