>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

So, before we get started, I should probably mention that I've been getting the itch to run Dragonball Quest again. So, here's what's going to happen. I am going to alternate which quest I run each weekend. If I do Dragonball Quest one weekend, I will do Earthbender quest the next, and vice versa.

So, which should I start with this upcoming weekend

http://www.strawpoll.me/11310051

>>629249
Possibly
>>
>>629257
Whichever has the best pictures.
>>
>>629257
I would suggest maybe doing them in sets of two.
So for two weeks out of the month, do earthbender quest, then for the other two weeks, do dragonball quest.

That way we can feel like we're getting somewhere in both, since we have two threads back to back, and since the time between either quest is father apart, we'd look forward to it more.
The amount of time spent on either is still effectively the same, of course.

That's fair, I will consider it

Second this
>>
It's been several days since you encountered the Firebender and Shing out on the plains. Since then, the four of you have been moving North at a fast pace, hoping to reach the mountains before the hunter the Firebender mentioned can catch up with you. As far as you all figure, he'll have a much more difficult time tracking you in the mountains than he will on the plains.

The mood has become far less relaxed, and it's clear that everyone is starting to have issues. Most obvious is Sansha, who has made a habit of trying to push everyone further each day once most of the group is ready to stop. Mauya, who was never exactly peppy to begin with, just seems a little less easygoing than normal. Lantana's personality and actions haven't changed much, but you can tell that the stress is beginning to get to her. You suppose it has to be difficult for her to be in charge of three other people, especially with Sansha becoming something of a taskmaster after learning of her mother's death, and Mauya growing steadily more worried about being hunter.

Lantana has still been taking time to practice Earthbending with you when you aren't on the move. It gives the two of you a chance to unwind, and keeps Sansha from insisting that you do something productive. You understand the girl's issue right now, but you also get tired of hearing it.

"Alright, I think that's enough for tonight," Lantana tells you, catching her breath for a moment. "You're improving fast."

The two of you spent the last hour practicing techniques, mostly the basics to keep yourselves from getting rusty, but also slightly more advanced things like the stone fists. She might be out of breath, but you feel like passing out; she works you hard.

"How are you doing?" you ask, hunched over with your hands on your legs.

The look on her face is all the answer you need, but she does say something.

"I've been better," she admits. "But I'll be fine. We'll all be fine."

She doesn't sound entirely convinced, and you can't help but feel that perhaps she's just trying to put on a brave face for you. After all, she's the leader, and if she can't keep things together, or keep optimistic, that's not good for the rest of the team.

"Sansha just needs time," she continues, sounding a bit more sure about that. "It's not easy to hear what she heard, and it's not easy to pull yourself together after something like that."

You frown. It sounded like she was speaking from experience.

"Mauya seems afraid," you comment.

"I think we're all a little afraid," Lantana tells you in turn. "What's important is that we don't let that stop us from doing what we need to do. You and I have been in some pretty scary situations, and we kept it together then. We just need to trust that the others will too."

She's probably right. She and you faced an entire army together, and fought a giant lake monster side-by-side. You faced a Goat Gorilla on your own, and she fought an entire army for a year. The two of you can keep your cool in these types of situations. Mauya and Sansha, you can't say for certain yet. From the last skirmish, you're fairly certain that Sansha won't let fear get the best of her in a battle, but you also don't like how learning of her mother's death seems to be effecting her. As for Mauya, you can't help but wonder why it took so long for her to lend a hand in the battle. Sansha's mother asking if she spoke from experience when she suggested running away also seemed to touch a nerve. Whatever her deal is, it's something you might want to look in to.

But, if nothing else, it seems clear that you and Lantana can count on one another when it comes down to it. You just hope that's enough.

"What do you think about this "hunter"?" you ask her curiously.

"That Firebender seemed pretty sure that we couldn't stop him," she reminds you in a contemplative tone. "And he knew that we beat Jungo, and saw how well we can fight. If he still thinks this guy can beat us no problem, we should be careful."

"Well, the mountains are only a few days away," you tell her. "Once we reach them, we should be safer."

"Maybe," she says, not sounding so sure. "But, we don't know what we'll find in the mountains, or if this guy's been there before. We have to be ready for everything, alright?"

With all of this worry and uncertainty, you decide to try and lighten the mood a bit. So, you step forward, and place a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"It's a rocky road ahead," you tell her. "But, I'm sure we can make it."

Lantana offers you a smile and a light chuckle, seemingly feeling just a little bit better.

"Right," she agrees. "Anyway, we should get some sleep while we can. I've got second watch, and you've got third."

She turns around and walks over to her rock tent, climbing inside and presumably falling asleep almost immediately.

The small fire that was set up a few hours ago has long since burnt out, leaving you and the others once again with only the moon and stars for light. Sansha sits against a rock you pulled up for her, staring to the South with one hand gripping her sword.

we did the exact same thing when we escaped from the airbender, though.
All we have to do is make some tunnels underground, a little individual room for each person to sleep in, and seal it until morning so it can't be found.
It wouldn't take much compared to what we did in that exhausted state back then, when we were an unpracticed bender.

>>629488
Exhausted from a long day of travel and an evening of intense training, you decide to turn in for the night, leaving Sansha alone to keep watch as you crawl into your tent and fall asleep.

Later on, Lantana wakes you to take your turn at keeping watch, and you take a spot in front of the rock, looking toward the South and keeping an eye out for anything suspicious or concerning. Tonight, things are peaceful, and you get some basic training in before your shift ends, and you wake Mauya.

She takes position in front of the rock, and you go back to sleep, waking a few hours later and crawling out of your tent.

Sansha is already awake, but Lantana seems to be sound asleep. Mauya is in the process of packing her things, throwing occasional glances toward Lantana to see if she's waking up.

"We should get going," Sansha suggests. "Sei, can you wake her?"

Lantana probably needs the extra sleep, and you tell Sansha as much. "We've been going at a pretty hard pace for some time now, and I'm sure you've noticed that it's putting stress on the group. We can afford to let everyone rest a few hours longer."

"Every second we stay here is another second this "hunter" has to catch up with us," Mauya counters.

"And it seems like you and Lantana don't want to fight whoever he is," Sansha adds. "So, if you're going to insist on running away, we should really do it right. Half-measures count for nothing in battle."

"Nobody here will do any good in a fight if we're exhausted," you point out. "I get your point about not doing anything half-way, but we'll be slowed down if everyone's tired out. Rest is a must. We can get ready to move and give Lantana just a little more time to sleep."

"If you two wouldn't spend all night throwing rocks around, maybe you'd b less tired," Mauya suggests.

"At least they're doing something to prepare themselves for a fight," Sansha tells her. "What are you going to do when this "hunter" shows up, splash him once then hide behind Sei again?"

"If we stick close to the river, I'll have plenty of water to bend," Mauya tells her.

"And what about when we're in the mountains?" Sansha asks. "If you can't defend yourself, you're just dead weight."

Oh no.

"What, so you're saying I should leave?" Mauya questions.

"I'm asking why you're even here," Sansha answers. "You can't fight, and it doesn't seem like you even want to, so why did you even bother coming along? Did you think this was some kind of game?"

"Who even asked you to come along?" Mauya asks. "The only one here who I've seen run from a fight is you."

Growling, Sansha draws her sword. "You take that back!"

"You knew you'd die if you stayed behind," Mauya tells her. "So you ran. I don't blame you, it was the smart thing to do. But you have no right to call me a coward when you ran away."

"All of us have made mistakes," you tell both of them. "Holding them over each other's heads isn't right, and will only make things worse for all of us."

"That's right," a tired voice agrees from behind you.

Looking back, you spot a sleepy looking Lantana strolling over. Her eyes fall on the wall you've built, then travel between the two bickering girls it is separating.

"If we can't keep ourselves together, we'll be a lot weaker," she tells Sansha. "That means the army will have a much easier time taking us down. We need to work as a team."

Sansha looks down, giving a small nod to the Avatar.

Lantana then looks toward Mauya. "We all have our reasons for being here, but what's important is that we all want to see this army beaten, and we can only make that happen if we work together."

Mauya frowns, but doesn't argue.

Lantana puts a hand on your shoulder, speaking softly. "Thanks for keeping them from killing each other."

She steps forward and lowers the wall. "We'll be in the mountains in a few days if we keep moving this fast. So, let's get going."

The four of you begin packing up camp. It's not hard work, so if you want to talk to someone, you can.

"Revenge," you suggest for starters.

She shrugs, rising before turning to face you on a more equal level. "Of course I want revenge, and I plan to get it. I'm sure you can understand that."

Taking one more glance at the packs on the ground to make sure everything is situated, she turns and walks a bit further from the others, gesturing for you to come and walk with her.

"If you're worried that I'll go crazy with revenge, don't be," she tells you. "I know I didn't handle myself well the other night, but I am a warrior, I know the importance of keeping a cool head."

"It happens to everybody," you assure her.

"Well, it's not supposed to happen to me," she tells you. "I was taught better than that. My mom and dad would have been so disappointed."

Her expression grows steadily sadder, and you quickly change the subject, asking her why she decided to come with your group in the first place.

"Because I knew that staying and fighting with my village wouldn't mean anything," Sansha declares. Her tone is angry, but not with you, more as if she's cursing fate. "I would have died with the rest of them, and that would have been the end of my village. This way, there's a chance that I can take it back some day, or at least get revenge on the people who took it from me in the first place."

"If that's the reason, then why did what Mauya said get to you?" you question.

The girl tenses up for a second, and you reacy yourself to make some sort of rocky defense with your bending, but the attack never comes. Instead, she lets out a sigh, looking down at the ground. For a moment, she seems to struggle with the decision of whether or not to answer the question, but, in the end, she decides to trust you.

"Because part of me wonders if she was right," Sansha admits. "What if I really was just afraid, and am just trying to justify it to myself and everyone else. Maybe she wasn't wrong to call me a coward."

Her tone is jovial, but you suspect that she would be more than willing to actually follow through with that challenge if you pressed the issue. This girl is a warrior, and you doubt there are many fights she'd back down from.

Turning your tone serious, you tell her that you really aren't the strongest Earthbender, but so far you've been able to outsmart your opponents.

The day passes by without incident as the four of you resume your journey to the Northern mountains. Sansha and Mauya are no longer at one-another's throats, and your talk with Sansha seems to have lightened her spirits ever so slightly. There isn't a lot of talking, and there's still plenty of tension, but by the time night rolls around, nothing has seriously gone wrong as of yet.

"Let's set up camp here for the night," Lantana decides. "Sansha, can you get a fire started?"

The warrior gives her a look that questions the purpose of such an obvious question, then sets to work. Lantana then turns her attention to you.

"Sei, can you and Mauya go get us some water?" she asks.

"Sure," you tell her, gathering up the group's canteens and approaching Mauya, who leads the way as the two of you start toward the river.

She's quiet, but tense, almost as if she's anticipating something to happen at any moment. Whether she's expecting an attack, or a scolding about her fight with Sansha, you don't know, but it makes the situation uncomfortable as the two of you slowly approach the river.

"Open the canteens," she instructs, standing at the water's edge.

Setting the canteens down on the ground, you open them one by one before rising to your feet and stepping back. Mauya slowly moves her arms, and water rises from the lake before being directed toward the open canteens. It takes a bit of time for her to properly direct the water into the canteens, and probably would have been faster if you'd simply filled them in the lake. You suppose she simply wants the Waterbending practice.

"Are you doing alright?" you ask, crouching down and sealing the newly filled canteens back up.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Mauya asks, her back to you as she stares out at the river. You can't see her expression, but her tone is guarded.

"You seem worried," you tell her. "And your fight with Sansha really seems to have put you on edge."

"I don't want to talk about that," Mauya tells you sternly. "But yes, I am worried. We have some sort of monster hunting us, and Sansha wants to fight him."

The young Waterbender turns toward you, a look of anger on her face. "She ran from her village, now she wants to fight some unstoppable hunter, and has a problem with the rest of us not wanting to do the same?"

Her hands clench into fists, and you can feel the fury radiating off of her. Her anger with Sansha seems to run quite deep, leading you to suspect that this fight isn't the only place it's coming from.

>A. Tell Mauya that Sansha wants to redeem herself by taking down the army

"Everyone isn't going to agree on everything," you point out. "There's no point in fighting over it. Sansha wants to battle this "hunter" to redeem herself for running away."

"So, she'll get us all killed trying to do it?" Mauya asks. "I want to take the army down, too, but fighting every last one of them isn't going to work. The three of you are good fighters, but you won't keep winning forever. We need to be smart about how we do this. Lantana has the right idea; mastering all four of the elements before trying to face the army's leader. I thought you were on the same page with that."

"And how do we do that?" Mauya demands skeptically. "You heard the Firebender, this guy's supposed to be unstoppable. I doubt that even Lantana can beat him."

"Well, you should keep practicing your Waterbending," you suggest. "And maybe Sansha could teach you how to fight without it."

The glare you receive immediately causes you to regret your decision, and you take a cautious step back in case she decides to practice her Waterbending on you.

"I'm not letting her teach me," Mauya tells you. "But if you want me to practice my Waterbending, fine, I'll do it. Take the canteens and go back to camp."

She's quite aggravated, to the point where it's clearly effecting her ability to work with other people. And, if she does indeed practice her Waterbending, you aren't sure how much that practice will help her in a fight. Your solution is then to challenge her to a battle of bending.

She raises an eyebrow, her fury giving way to curiosity and skepticism. "Really? You want to fight me?"

Giving her a nod, you ready yourself, running various strategies through your mind. You've never fought a Waterbender before, not counting Lantana. Still, that might not matter, as Mauya clearly has very little experience with fighting.

Mauya sighs, her expression less-than enthused, and her posture doing nothing to hide her dissatisfaction with this. Why she's even agreeing to this little match, you aren't sure. All you know is that this is something of a delicate situation. Hold back too much, and she might see it as you patronizing her. But, not holding back enough could result in you seriously hurting her.

>A. Create stone fists and ready yourself

Your approach to the beginning of this fight is a simple one; you create a wall of Earth between yourself and her, challenging her to strike you from where she is.

Then, you remain completely motionless, waiting as she attempts to find a way to meet your challenge. It isn't long before you hear the disturbances of the water as she lifts some from the river, twisting and leading it with her bending powers. You expect her to succeed sooner or later, but the attack comes far sooner than expected, as a jet of water circles your wall and strikes you in the side of the head, throwing you to the ground.Seconds later, Mauya herself comes around the wall, looking down at you with slight amusement on her face.

"How was that?" she asks.

>A. Pretty good

>B. Create Stone Fists and attack

This is correct. The great fighters of earthbending understand about Neutral Jing to overcome enemies and obstacles. Wait for opportunity and be cautious, then punish with maximum strength and minimal hesitation.

"Pretty good," you answer, before immediately using your bending to shift the Earth beneath her feet.

Mauya cries out in surprise, falling onto her rear right in front of you. At that moment, you pull a chunk of rock the size of a pebble from the ground, and lightly throw it at her leg, doing nothing more than letting it harmlessly bounce off of her.

"But, you shouldn't let your guard down," you tell her. "I got you."

At first, she looks quite irritated by your antics, but that soon gives way to a look of minor amusement as she gets herself back to her feet.

"Alright then," she tells you. "Let's go again."

You think she's gotten the message, and that maybe this is a good start toward bringing her closer to the rest of the team.

Sorry it was so short tonight, anons, but my schedule on weeknights is extremely hectic these days. I may run a short session like this tomorrow night.

I don't want Tofoo to die after surviving Vegeta but before we get to Namek. He will either challenge us to a one on one and we will die or he will terrorize Earth.

After spending the better part of an hour training with Mauya, you finally make your way back toward camp with the water that you were sent to retrieve. The awkward tension that hung between the two of you on your way to the river has finally dissipated, and though neither one of you is very talkative, it's a much more comfortable silence than before.

Upon your return to the camp, you find Sansha preparing some sort of meal, while Lantana keeps her eyes to the South, watching for any potential attackers.

"We're back," Mauya announces.

Lantana looks over as you set down the canteens. "You two were gone for a while. Everything okay?"

"Don't Cat Owls usually live in forests?" Sansha asks you.

"We were training," Mauya tells them, not seeming particularly interested in the joke you're attempting to make. "Sorry we were gone so long."

"No problem," Lantana tells her. "Dinner's almost ready, so you picked a good time to come back."

You're about to say something, but stop when you swear you could hear some sort of call in the distance. Nobody else seems to notice it, so it might be nothing.

Despite the hunger a long day of travel causes in you, you turn the subject toward the noise you heard, asking if anybody else noticed it.

"No, I didn't hear anything," Lantana tells you.

You hear it again, this time louder. A shrill cry from somewhere in the distance that gives you the chills.

"Okay, I heard that," Lantana tells you, a twinge of fear in her voice.

Sansha looks toward the sound, a thoughtful look on her face, while Mauya looks ready to run in the opposite direction. Honestly, part of you wants to run from it as well.

"This just keeps getting better," the Waterbender groans. "We've got some maniac hunter coming from the South, and a monster in the North. Anybody want to go East?"

"Well?" Mauya asks. "What is it?"

"Poachers are at it again," Sansha answers, drawing her sword. "We have to stop them, or-"

After taking a few steps, she comes to a halt, staring ahead with a blank expression as her body begins to tremble.

"What's the point?" she sighs, returning to the fire and sitting before it. "They're gone, anyway."

You interrupt her, stating that just you and Sansha should go. This draws confused and surprised looks from all three of the girls, so you explain that Mauya doesn't really like fighting, and that Lantana needs to rest.

"I'm fine," the Avatar assures you. "Besides, we don't know how many of them there are."

Unable to refute Lantana's argument, you give in and agree to have her come along. Mauya still opts to stay behind and watch over the camp, promising to save some food for everyone.

With the Avatar and the young warrior, you leave the camp and head toward the cries of the unknown creature in the distance.

"We should hurry," Sansha encourages before long, and the three of you begin to run, soon getting a look at the source of the noise.

Three men armed with spears and swords surround a massive, hairy creature. It's fur is brown, and its body is large and stocky. Four, massive legs extend from beneath the furred body of the creature, supporting its heavy form. But the part of the creature that really gets your attention is its face. A band of hairless, scarlet-colored skin stretches down between its two eyes, flanked on either side by bright blue skin, giving it a rather unique appearance. Some sort of yellow bear hangs from its lower jaw, and two yellow eyes shine with fear and fury as the creature opens its mouth, baring its fangs and letting out an ear-splitting screech at the poachers, who seem unaffected for some reason.

Without a word, or any attempt to negotiate with the poachers, you rush toward the poachers, stomping on the ground and creating a pillar beneath one of their feet. You angle it and raise it fast, flinging the surprised man into the air and causing him to hit the ground painfully.

The creature rears back in surprise, while the other two poachers turn toward their friend, eyes quickly registering your presence.

"He's a bender!" one of the poachers shouts, rushing toward you, only to fall in a pit as Lantana does a bit of her own Earthbending.

Sansha rushes forward, charging at the remaining poacher, who readies his sword as she draws her own. The two blades clash, but Sansha quickly gains the upper-hand and stabs the man in the heart.

The poacher you flung gets back to his feet, only to be knocked out cold from a rock hurled by Lantana.

The creature, observing what has occurred, lets out a nervous cry, slowly backing up.

"It's alright," Lantana calls to it, coming up behind you and slowly making her way toward the great beast.

The creature continues to back up, and bares its fangs as Lantana draws closer, but makes no effort to attack her. The Avatar moves closer and closer, slowly extending her hand. The creature's nostrils flare, as you presume it takes in her scent.

It leans forward, lowering its head and sniffing at her hand. Lantana gently reaches forward, placing her hand upon its head.

You see the creature's body tense for just a moment, but Lantana doesn't move a muscle. She keeps still as a statue, with her hand gently placed on its head. Finally, the beast's posture relaxes, and it lowers its head further, allowing Lantana to pet it.

"Yeah," she answers, putting away her sword. "It's called an Elephant Mandrill. They're usually pretty harmless, as long as you leave them alone. But, when they get scared or angry, they can do a lot of damage."

The one in question seems to be neither scared, nor angry, and you could almost swear it's smiling as Lantana scratches its head, a smile on her face as she says something to the creature that you can't hear.

"Has anyone ever kept one as a pet?" you ask.

Sansha shrugs. "I'm sure someone has, but nobody from my village did. We didn't have the space."

Lantana slowly backs away from the creature, then launches herself into the air using her Earthbending, landing on its back. The creature jolts with surprise, but calms down as the girl begins to pet it again. She says something to it and points in your direction, and the beast soon marches over.

Its nostrils flare as it takes in both your scent, and Sansha's, all the while Lantana looks down at you from her place on its back.

"So, what do you think of my new friend?" she asks with a grin. "He's going to come with us."

If not Bulma I would have gone for
1. Launch
2. Mai
3. Chichi/Lazuli

But being with Chichi is difficult without a job she is very insistent on that, unless we got her to go full martial artist

He learned how to drive stick didn't he? Looks like getting that driver's license is going to be harder now with Piccolo being able to drive a car better than Goku and us now. Looks like we have to out drift him now.

You're right, but I'd rather go for Mauya. Waterbending sounds like it's made for "experimentation".
