Once upon a time there was a lord who lived in the mountains of the moon. This is not the story of that lord. Oh no. This is the tale of a house of dorne using the song of ice and fire roleplaying game using the rules from the green ronin rpg.

To begin with, we must know- well where we want to begin! This is your story after all.

Where in Dorne do you want to stake your claim, and what time period do you want this story to take place? And who is our dashing protagonist? Or are they not so dashing?

I can help make things a little easier and instead of you guys trying to figure out exactly when you want our story to take place I can offer you up a host of mystery boxes to pick from for dates.

Additionally I have been offered a unique way to give your character more story, something unusual. If you want to add to a bit of mystery to this campaign we can take this occulted route as well.
>>
>>629474
We have always placed faith in boxes to alter fate, so i say why stop now? Let the mystery boxes decide the time and place.

Additionally, i do like the idea of the occult route. If we could mix those that would be grand.
>>
>>629492
one vote to bring out the boxes for the time period.

I have wanted to do a Dorne Quest for a while, and I am honestly quite excited about this. The house and character creation are one of the most important parts of ASOIF RPG.
>>
>>629555
ASOIAF quest? nice, these are normally cool quests.
>>
>>629474
I'd rather I'd be a bit random and go with mystery boxes myself, and the occulted route sounds cool.
>>
>>629573
>>629492
So we leave the time period of the quest up to your choices with mystery boxes!

Be warned: I know quite a bit about the book series and movie series. Also I read the other books and the wikis. If I tell you a time period will be difficult for you it is going to be difficult.

Additionally, choose your difficulty setting!
They are listed by difficulty in order.

> Jamie goes for a walk through Lannisport
> Tyrion goes on a bender in Dorne
> Cersie goes for a walk in kings landing
> Tywin goes for a walk to Castamere
> Uncle Gerion goes for a Sail to Valyria
>>

Sup shud, are they in order from easiest to hardest or hardest to easiest or what?
>>
>>629626
Easiest to hardest hoss. Also how are ya?

Time period!

Choose your box. They have been randomly rolled for by me. Each box is a different critical time period in the history of the seven kingdoms. You will not know the time period until the quest begins.

Time for more mystery boxes to be opened.
The question is, do you want the potential for romance in the quest? Cause if so there is one more mystery box phase.

>>
>>629694
There's ALWAYS romance, it's all about securing your line brah. Gotta get dat sweet Dornish wife and an Heir.
>>
>>629708
I don't do so much 'waifuing' as much in ASOIF. This is basically

"Is your character single" which adds for the whole courting and romance part if it is a prince or princess of dorne. It's an additional layer of power and a whole other bargaining chip if your careful.

I just like using the term waifu because it's fun to say. Especially in quests that have rifles. Cause then it's "what raifu does your waifu have in her laifu?" Sorry. I have horrible horrible humor.
>>
>>629727
That's fine, just make sure to run the quest well, it might also be nice to have a little state Bar that could determine if we have been a good husband to the wife that could open up new routes in resolving things or if we don't do well in keeping G her happy wed get cocked or stabbed on the back
>>
Alright here are your romantic interests options

You have Six Romantic interest points. Each one is worth two. You may pick three to put into the campaign.

You have twelve points to spend on the mystery box you put them in. You start with a base, a filigree, then an accent. Each item costs one point.

I can give you a description on each romantic interest.
>>
>>629761
And forgot the link.

Perhaps Smith and Explorer too. Though they sound kinda vanilla

>>
For the mystery Box, I'm thinking

Box Base: Jade/Ebony
Box Filigree: Gold, Rhodium, Silver
Box Accent: Everything except Amber

I'm putting one person in the box, it's whoever my favorite is out of the list instead of picking 3.
>>
>>629788
Noble

Marble
Jade

Mother of Pearl

Ruby
Amber
>>
>>629812
wha cha going to do with the other 7 points for the mystery box?
>>
>>629788
Of course!

> Mystic
The Mystic is a woman born of lower birth than you, but still noble. She is wild and free, and of great intelligence. She is of above average looks. She is greatly connected to the spiritual world and can help you in planning. She will not be liked by your family as she was not born to the light of the seven. However she is balanced in all of her stats. She is loving and caring, would never betray you and cares deeply about having children and protecting the family line.

>Dark Mystic
Originally called the witch. She is the hardest of all romantic interests to court. She will not stand being second fiddle or paramour. If you take her as a romantic interest she will only tolerate you having only her. She is the most beautiful of of all the Romantic Interests and is of hidden noble ancestry. While there are romantic interests that are balanced in stats and skills, she exceeds at all. This comes at a cost. She is not of the fate of the seven, and she partakes in strange and unusual rituals. With some of these rituals she can see the future and help you greatly on the quest. She is also the highest maintenance of all the romantic interests and you better not anger her. Additionally, she WILL give you the child of your choice as an heir. She may go missing for a year on occasion, but it's really in your best interest to not ask why.

>Professor

Professor is the smartest of all the romantic interests. She may not be the prettiest, but she can outsmart anyone you meet. She is noble born, but her parents are eager to marry her off. Her dowry is larger than most of the other choices. She is faithful to you, but she is almost always may be more faithful to her studies. She is always learning. She can help the house and bring fortune with her studies. She however, is not the most likely to give you a suitable heir due to all of her experiments.
>>
>>629850
Tell me also of the Smith and Exprorer. I'm curious.

So far I'm leaning on the Dark Mystic (Because it's like the ordinary Mystic except higher maintence and on cocain) or getting a wife and a mistress and setting up the bastard from that as a bannerhouse or a competent adviser for our heir later.
>>
>>629850
Dark mystic would work well if it's during the reign of The Cruel. We get to have our magic while shitting on the seven and it just gets us an in with the king.
>>
blah, the internet is exploding for me, 4chan ain't loading for shit. Guess I'll just be a watcher instead of a participator for now.
>>
>Commander
The commander is schooled in the art of war to such a degree that she is feared across Dorne. Her stats are purely towards martial pursuits, which can lead her to being awkward. If she is picked as a romantic interest, she will expand your lands through conquest and diplomacy. She will also likely try to expand her own houses influence, as-- well, it's not really a notable house. In fact you are pretty sure it may be either a made up house or an extinct one. She isn't too bad looking, but her manners are lacking and she doesn't handle formal affairs well. She is likely to give you an heir but she will try to raise the child in her fashion.

>Noble

She is the highest born noble of all the romantic interests. She is also the most likely to turn you down. However, she has the most balanced stats and has the most connections of all the romantic interests. Your family will strongly approve of the match, but her family is another story. She will almost certainly produce an heir, but the heir will likely be raised by her parents.

>>629866
>Smith

The smith is actually, of all the things, one of the most beautiful heirs. From an old and proud house, she is a master smith who trained in Qohor and around the world. She is intelligent and actually a decent fighter. She will be feircely devoted to you. The thing is she already has a child, and she for all her great talents has some issues with drinking and some mental issues stemming from child hood. Additionally, for all her social graces her tongue is sharper than the swords she makes and can get her in trouble.

>Explorer
The Explorer is the youngest daughter of a far away house. She has been all across the world and all over the seven kingdoms. Her beauty is exotic to you, but she isn't as of much. She will likely leave often for travels or other things. She is very unfettered, and she doesn't have much in the way of wits. However, she can take care of herself quite well. If there is a chance to go somewhere new, she will go with you. Additionally, she will always care for you, even if you decide to part ways or take another. She also always has a place to stay, and you will always be welcome.
>>
>>629906
>>629906
I'm kinda liking the commander, the smith, and the explorer...ahh, decisions decisions. Also internet seems better now.
>>
>>629906
Welp I'm voting
>Romantic Interest: Smith
>mystery Box:
Box Base: Jade, Marble
Box Filigree: Gold
Box Accent: Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby

#2: Mystic
>mystery Box:
Box Base: Ebony, Blood Wood
Box Fillgree: Rhodium, Mother of Pearl
Box Accent: Onyx, Amber
>>
>>629927
Alright. That is an interesting box you made for the mystic.
>>
>>629936
They all seemed like spiritual elements in one way or another to me. Especially Onyx and Blood wood.
>>
>>629936
May as well ask about the Warrior, Intrigue, and Mysterious options. I'm not picking them, just curious about it.
>>
>>629941
That they do
>>
>>629727
>Single
Nigga, we're in Dorne! Monogamy is practically unheard of in this place.
>>
>>629927
Well damn, am I the only one voting for these two, or are yall just ok with this match up?
>>
>>629953
tablet dropped trip.

Anyhow.

>Warrior

The warrior is exactly as it sounds. A fierce and protective fighter from a noble house and she will protect you and your interests. While she isn't the prettiest (and actually not the ugliest) she is a clever warrior and actually well renowned. Obviously her stats are martial and she is clearly the best fighter of all the romantic interests. She is friendly to you and your family and your family will actually like her quite a bit and her family will be very happy with the match as well. She is not too well schooled in lady like ways, and is actually a foreigner to dorne she comes in later in the quest. Not so certain if she will bare you an heir.

>
Intrigue
Three words: Female Petyr Baelish. You just better hope she really loves you. She will bare you a child.

>Mysterious
She is so mysterious you don't get a description of her. But you will know her when you see her.
Though a run down on her stats: She will be the opposite stats of what you have.
>>
>>629985
Welp, I'm good with my two, now just waiting to see if anyone else want to throw in their vote.

When do you want to call it shud, 10 mins? An hour? Or just continue with character creation and wait to see if anyone else want to vote on the romance option box?
>>
>>629983
People are probably just trying to learn what options are available.

There is some interest in the Dark Mystic and noble.

>>629995
I am going to call it in a few before we get the next portion on the road.
>>
>>629812
>>629927

Welp besides mine, there's a vote for the Noble, though I'm against that as it's not a sure thing we can get her, and her family just makes that harder.
>>
>>630028
I'll support this anon.
>>
So far we have just one vote for what kind of romantic interest we have. Either this means

1. The first vote was flawless

2. lack of interest or desire

So tel you what. I will offer a third option.

All romantic interests will be available in the quests. The ones you customized will be put in with additional options. We need to move on to

HOUSE CREATION.
>>
>>630049
Huzzah, how do we begin?
>>
>>630049

Alright. We all know how this works.

I will allow for (since we are on medium difficulty) placement of scores and rolling all at once. However score placement means you don't get the seven bonus re-rolls you guys get in house creation.

So

Re-rolls and we do resources by the book in order

OR

Do all the rolls and place them accordingly?
>>
>>630131
Start in Dorne, let's roll.

Debates. WEW.

Do all the rolls and place them accordingly.
>>
>>630165
>Do all the rolls and place them accordingly
It's medium difficulty, not easy mode.
>>
>>630165
eeeeeeeeeeeh. The re-rolls will extend things further, and it is very possible to reroll poorly, and end up with an odd 'build' due to lack on placement.

Having placement means we can prioritize strengths and dumpstats where we want, giving us control and DIRECTION.

Count my vote for placing the rolls after a set.
>>
>>630169
We have land between some rivers in the mountains in Dorne. It's quite nice. Not the nicest, but still nice. For dorne. You may or may not have a volcano on your lands.

Infl 26 (-5) (We need to have some say)
Wealth 25
Pop 24
Def 24 Decent enough to back our HUGE military
Law 23 (-5) (It's Dourne, soo....)
Lands 21 (+10) (Bonus still makes it our second best ,which we don't NEED as bad.)

I like this set up, anyone else?

No your total is 8 5+3 + 1 for fate.

The house has had a total of nine events.

Time to do them.

Since it is a medium difficulty I will allow for something neat.

I will give you all 1 free windfall. 1. However- That free windfall comes at a price. And that price shall remain unknown to you.

Along the way someone fucked us over and we lost influence in the eyes of our Lord, then the scandal happened, and Dorne being Dorne you can guess what happened.

A small war happened sometime after that and we got some of that standing back but then the House slowly started to slip as a string of shit tier Lord ran it badly, then Dornish scandal again and our Liege Lord gave us a boon by marrying one of his daughter to our family which brough enough standing/wealth to repair some of the decaying infrastructure.

Then the Windfall..

You like the backstory?
If everyone is for it we shall do it.
>>
>>630951
I think I am the only one left. I cannot give an answer for everyone.

Though the board is slow enough that you can leave the thread hanging and come back to see if others approved or not and make a decision from there.

The House started as kind of villainous and over time changed with more or less truthfulness. They'd either wait the long game and pick slowly at your bones or slip a dagger between your ribs when you're not looking.

"Ours the remains" seems fitting for the name is taken from a carrion bird, and could be switched to a more knightly tune "if" the Lord decided to play this card.

Something that could sound sinister if heard from a postion of weakness or something that'd lift your spirit if you where buddy with the house.

For the coat of arms the Red Mountains like said previously but with a condor either flying or standing as if waiting for it's prey to die.
>>
>>630979
The name was originally Ratell, but I don't think House Honey Badger would actually be a good idea on this board.

I'll make a quick coat of arms then go to bed. If people like it we shall keep it, if they have better ideas we shall go with it.
>>
>>630991
Remember, Dorne uses round shields for it's coat of arms.

Do you want more for your land?
>>
I've been rereading the background story, since we're playing the son of Alric Conder, do we still need to buy him? How old is he? Old enough to have kids of his own?

If the answers are no to most of these, I'd propose to trade some Influence for Law and remove the points added to Law and place them in Lands/Power.
>>
>>631980
Bridges ?
>>
>>631983
You don't need to buy him you get the heir status for free because it's better for the quest.

That being said, he doesn't have children of his own.

>>631989
What you want people crossing into your lands via boats. A bridge is a terrain feature. Your land is between two rivers and mountains. You get bridges for free. Unless you don't want them. Then you can get rid of that bit of infrastructure and get three points to move anywhere.
>>
>>631980
Hills and Plains
>>

A (Hills+Hamlet) + (Plains+Hamlet)

Alright so
8+10+8 =26. you have enough for six more points if you want.

You also can get a free unit from opening a mystery box earlier!

The catch is, well I make it.

You get a special veteran unit: You may make t of any three types. What three types do you choose?
>>
>>632217
Light cav
>>
>>632148
Vet Cav 10
Vet Personal Guard 11
Vet Archer 8
Green Scout 3
>>
>>632217
Veteran Infantry is 9. With the remaining point I'd take a trained scout units, these mountains won't reckon themselves.

With the free unit I'd take the Personal Guard.
>>
>>632225.

Archers have: Agility, Awareness, Marksmenship
Cavalry has: Agility, Animal Handling, Fighting
Infantry has: Athletics, Endurance, Fighting
Personal Guard has: the same as infantry but are more general better.

Basically your special unit, can be elite trained and whatever the hell you guys want.

However you must come to a consensus for your army. Your free banner house will have units to help round out your army.
>>
It seems like we are have problems deciding on the army.

As a former military man, and someone who graduated at the top of their class and with the highest test scores on order of battle. I can give you some advice on what you want for the particular terrain you have your house in. That being said- a good army isn't just built for one's own back yard.
>>
>>632334
Sure we could use some advice, or just hold onto the power for later down the road.
>>
>>632403

You all are 100% correct on veteran archers and infantry. Those are the lifeblood of any pre-firearm army.

If you want cav, in this environment it's hit and miss but fucking GRR Martin loves the shit out of cav knights, you can go one of three ways.

Ranged Light Cav: Parthian/Mongol Cav

Heavy Shock Cav: IE Winged Hussars

Light Scout Cav

Other units to consider

Scouts/Guerrillas would be pretty damn good.

Personal Guard are usually worth the investment.

The special unit can be a combination of things you need.

Finally Engineers might be good later on.
>>
>>632528
Personal guard sounds cool
>>
Personal Guard
>>
Alright so for what we are doing then

Veteran Archers
Veteran Infantry
Personal Guard

Special unit- I will just say that they are special cav and you guys can flavor them up however you feel is appropriate. Does this work? I have a date in a little bit and will be gone in a while so you can flavor up them until I get back.

Wealth holdings are next, and you guys have a lot of it for a dornish house.
>>
Alright for wealth because I don't like dealing with odd numbers in the wealth system for houses I am giving you an extra three points putting you at 42

Here are the following things that may be purchased. (Unless otherwise noted cost is 10)

Artisan:
Your gear is castle-forged
Defense is increased by +1
+1 to all fortune rolls
Other shit I will tell you about later.
Guilds (cost 15)
Your household gets a 10% discount on all goods purchased in their own land.

Maester: You get a maester and +3 to your fortunes rolls.

Marketplace
Each month fortune rolls are increased by +1 when they increase your wealth.

Mine
+5 to fortune rolls

Port (Rivers exist, and so does trading on them.)
+ 5 to fortune rolls. Also with a market place you increase wealth by +d6 instead of +1

Sept (cost 15):
You get plus 3+ to fortune rolls and, a sept.

I will be offline for a little bit but feel free to debate. Tonight we will forge our character and our story truly begins.
>>
>>632675
Get Maester, Mine, Port and Sept.

Keep the change.
>>
>>632706
scratch that. Remove the Sept. Cant afford it.
>>
>>632599
Yeah that's fine
>>632675

Is Out of Strife, Prosperity allowed?
Furthermore, are /tg/ holdings allowed?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qm-psOSbKz_FbT9XpMXcNfwuOLmSRokmevgt9jkMVzo/edit

Because if both are.
Market x2 for both communities 20
Fishery 5
Food Agriculture 5
And a basic mine for 10

Which would give something around.
House Fortunes +5
Wealth +2 which turns into a d3 when you increase wealth
Population +1
Power +1

Could also remove a market to get a maester would give House Fortunes +8 and only +1 in Wealth.

The Homebrew link have the vineyard holding that would be interesting as Dornish wine are a luxury good quite prized across Westeros, only bested by Arbor Gold.
>>
>>632842
I'm cool with that
>>
>>632842
Any way we can drop the +1 to population and get another bonus to wealth? Or less ideally, another point in power or house fortune?
Population is only good up to a point and then it starts to give penalties so I don't see it as something we'll be consistently putting our monthly points into. And we can convert wealth into pop anyway.

Also, voting against maester before market.
>>
>>633407
>>632842
>>632890
Hang on
We can't get food agriculture because of the 'no communities larger than a hamlet condition'. Even if we could, I don't think we should.

Instead, I'd suggest
>Marketplace
>Marketplace
>Port
>Mine
Same cost as yours but gives +10 to house fortunes and +1d6+1 for wealth.
>>
>>633527
Sure it's certainly not a bad idea
>>
>>633527
>>633580
Or even better...
Marketplace
>+1 Wealth
Port
>+5 House Fortunes, +1 Wealth from Marketplace becomes +1d6
Mine
>+5 House Fortunes
Tolls
>+1 Wealth

And then either
Gambling Dens
>+1 Wealth, +1 Power, -1 Law Loss Exacerbation
Brothels
>+2 Wealth, -1 Influence Loss Exacerbation
Street Gangs
>+1 Wealth Loss Mitigation, -1 Law Loss Exacerbation, Peasant Levies cost 2 less power
Saboteurs
>Enables sabotage of our enemies
Priest
>+1 House Fortunes, +1 Influence Loss Mitigation
I'm partial to gambling dens myself.
>>
>>633686
I like the Gambling Dens
>>
>>629474
>>632599
For the free elite cav I like cataphract-style heavy cavalry. Light scout cav just seem a waste of their Elite status. Since we got Elite for free I think they're best served as a hammer to smash through the thick of the fighting. Cataphracts are just a cool style that suits Dorne pretty well.
And we can always sink one of our House Fortune upgrades into Power so we can add the Archer type to them just like the later generations of cataphracts started carrying bows.

>>633712
Cool.
As a side note, something I've always wanted to do in one of these ASOIAF quests was stack Street Gangs, the Gambling Den upgrade Blood Sports and Martial Festivals meaning you can raise Veteran Peasant Levies for 1 power and 2 population all with the discipline of an Elite unit, that is, as disciplined as the legendary Unsullied. Not quite as skilled of course.

Sorry guys, the date went better than expected so yeah.

So basically my opinion is- whatever goes well with the fluff of the house and you guys can gain consensus on. Also you guys have tolls for free due to bridge.

>You guys get a dog kennel for free due to lore.
Yes, perfect.
>>
>>633863
So free holdings for wealth that you get for what I see.

1 Dog Kennels.
2 Tolls on bridges.
3 a Townhouse
And you get to pick any one of these ones for free! Just one though.

Master of Arms
Engineer
Assassins

Additionally things I am willing to waiver certain requirements

Blackmarket for flavor
Animal Husbandry Also flavor.
>>
>>633919
2 Tolls on bridges.

Master of Arms
>>
>>633919
>Assassins
>Tolls on bridges.

This will give us more wealth, and let us remove undesirables.

Also the dog kennel will likely be cheap relatively to acquire, so we should make more dosh with tolls.
>>
>>633925
Dog Kennels through Townhouse are free. You get them automatically if you so desire them.

You have to chose Master of Arms, Engineer or Assassins.
>>
>>633932
Oh those were free? Well if that's the case i think all three would be just fine to have. Make it so.

>Assassins
When we need to remove someone and make it look like an accident, they will be invaluable, and no standard troop could accomplish that.
>>
>>629694
>The question is, do you want the potential for romance in the quest?
The gay kind where we romance a dude as a dude? Sounds novel, let's do it!
>>
Alright so far

We have the following troops
Vet Infantry
Vet Archers
Personal Guard

Elite Cavalry- Either Cataphracts or Heavy shock troops.
----

For wealth holdings we have

Port
Marketplace
Mine
Tolls*
Dog Kennels*
Townhouse*
1* (Master of arms, Engineer or Assassins)
AND
Port
Then
one of the following
Gambling Dens
Brothels
Street Gangs
Saboteurs

With one vote towards Gambling Dens.

If you all wish for variance on this or want to settle this now that is fine. Either way I am calling a vote in ten.

Then we finally do character creation and get this show on the road.
>>
>>633982

We might meet some wealthy types this way, make connections.

>Elite Cavalry- Either Cataphracts or Heavy shock troops.
When I suggested cataphracts it was also a suggestion for heavy shock cav, the cataphract idea was more flavour and style. Since Westeros is a more medieval than classical our riders will need plate armour, stirrups and couched lances to stay effective but make it look as cataphract-ish as possible.

16 is fine. My grandfather was serving in Germany at the age of 16. Granted he lied about his age to get in and was fucking 6'5 but it works.

We are starting before a song of ice and fire. But not before other books. Oh no.

We start our story during the reign of Aegon the V. Aegon the unlikely.

Now that we have our age accounted for, let us decide how we build our character.

>>634224
All valid suggestions.

HOWEVER

I offer a different angle, albeit one not sponsored by the book.

We can go directly to what would be the opening for the book, and see what we want to do for this quest. It may even be fun.

However, if it were me I would honestly suggest leader schemer. We are in dorne. If you don't have your wits, you shall certainly die.

I'd be happy with leader schemer or fighter schemer.

Either works, but leader is probably better.

>>634186

You should probably provide options, just as a rule to keep things moving. That being said...

We were trained and raised somewhat militaristically with heavy supervision by our father, and taught strength in appearance, how to not show weakness. We were taught to be stoic and accurate in our strength, rather than intimidating or aggressive. In our spare time we became entranced by art, specifically that of music, and we learned how to play the guitar (or equivalent) and learned how to sing, often playing with those we have befriended in our spare time.

We have above average skill with a curved sword for those and have been trained in wielding a shorter weapon in our off hand, learning effectively how to throw knives or a small axe that we sometimes carry at our side. Has been taught the basics of strategy and command by our father, who wanted to drill in and start early the essence of how to command, and we have taken decently to it, understanding how to manage a group.

We have made friends with people around our castle, as well as a few of the less fortunate merchants in our time outside the palace, getting to be very friendly with a fruit merchant and his son that we often buy from.

When our father has visitors, we are polite and watch them, as our father has taught, trying to know about who they are, but don't actively talk to them.

Stoic but friendly, and man of the people, well trained but with much to learn. Confident but not one to approach a situation, preferring to observe. Concerned for our upcoming role in getting into being pulled into actively being a political force, and wanting to spend time enjoying himself in things he is comfortable with. Isn't above falsehood and lying, but has a genuine distaste for it.

And that is my take on Cedrik Conder, youth and growing nobility.
>>
>>634242
I'd be tempted to go with a more European sword considering we're stone Dornish rather than salt or sand.
>>
>>634237
>We can go directly to what would be the opening for the book, and see what we want to do for this quest. It may even be fun.
Absolutely prefer that.
>>
>>634242
This is a nice fiction. It goes towards fighter/leader well.

I shall provide another as well so people can vote.

----

We were trained raised by our father, and taught to quick in the mind and quick on our feet. While he taught us the way of our people, how to ride and hunt. How to fight and how to rule. He also taught us the way of dorne. Of intrigue. Of power.

We are, as most of the Red Mountains under the shadow of the Volcano, strong people and good to fight. But unlike others, ours is to ascend and rise higher. Ours is the path of ruling. So we have learned the high lords game and so far, from what our family and friends think play it well.

We have made family and friends throughout the kingdom, and while we have made a few enemies, we are generally well liked.

When our family has visitors, for the past year we have conducted business on behalf of our father as he has planned. We even have sold a few of our finer breed hounds, some claiming descent from dogs brought over by Nymeria. We know every business in our land.

We are out going and bold, our father has stated we remind him of our ancestor Dakkin, only smarter. And while we prefer our wits, few are foolhardy enough to cross blades with us.

We are Cedrick Conder.

>>634265

That is a long enough wait.

Time to dive in.

You are Cedrick Conder. First of your name, and first born son and heir to house Conder. Today is a special day. Today is your second race with your hound, Missy, against your sister houses. Currently you are standing out on your balcony with your hound. She has done her training just before the sun rose, and it's a bit after breakfast.

You have a lot to do, and a bit of a way to ride with some of your family before going to the races. You also need to take to some of your fathers duties, and more importantly he has requested a private audience with you after the race. This is important and while you visit with him and dine with him, lately he has been more secretive. It is a bit worrisome, hopefully he doesn't remain bed ridden for too much longer.

You survey the depth of your fathers lands from the balcony of your room, the rivers sparkling in the distance. As you look out you see a Condor land on the dome of the great hall. You smile taking this as a good omen, but there seems to be a bit of commotion down below. One of your friends, Alexi looks a bit surprised and looks to be in a hurry.

>> Call to Alexi and see what's going on.
>> Go down to the courtyard and find out.
>> Call to Alexi and scurry down the water spout next to your room (You will have to make a roll of 3d6)

"Alexi!" You shout to your friend who looks up to you as you jump over to the water spout and slide down it in a quick matter. The fall would have hurt or been bad had you not done this a thousand times before. Alexi who is a few years older than you smiles as you land.

"Am I glad to see you! "Alexi says. " Someone scouted ahead on the Hound track, apparently there are some really important houses here today. " Alexi says.

" oh who? " you ask. Causing Alexi to whisper the words " Martell and Targeryn. "

" You're kidding. " You say having only seen the Martell family once and never seen get the Targeryn before.

" No. Also a strange bird has landed in the raven roost. The master of Ravens has been looking for you all morning. " Alexi says.

" Strange? How so? " You ask.

" I heard the old man call it an albatross or some such nonsense. It had a note and flower attached to it. He says only you or your father may see it. " Alexi says shrugging then his eyes widen.

" And I have to go meet the Redmonts at the gate! They have come here to ride out with us to the race! "

"Alright you're the heir. I will go talk to them." Alexi says. You nod and walk quickly towards the rookery. As you approach you see the raven master trying to grab a very large white and gray bird flapping around the room.

The master of ravens Carlen Sand is a local eccentric and the bastard son of your grandfather. He is not officially a house maester, but he is one of the smartest members of the house, and even though he is a bastard he is well regarded by the house in general.

"Carl." You say with a little chuckle. "Cedrick." He says looking at you. "Help me get this blasted thing!" He says trying to grab the bird, that has a strange looking flower, knocking around raven cages.

"Take this note and this flower to your father. Now. Do not stop. Do not detour. " He says. Passing the note to flower to you.

You take the paper and flower and walk towards to you fathers portion of the castle. You head there quickly and open up the note.

"Prince Alric,

If you are reading this note, we have successfully navigated the burning straits and are on the way back to Dorne from Valyria. For proof we have attached a Valyrian Fire Lily and attached it to the Albatross we had trained specifically for this.

To wit, we have ore than quintupled you initial investment, and we have obtained large amounts of metals that we believe might be Valyrian steel ingots, but we are honestly not sure.

The reason for the delay, as the mission took three years longer than initial estimates were due to gathering materials needed to actually enter Valyria. A complete list of gathered items will follow with another Albatross. Be careful with the flower, while it has seeds that can be planted in Dorne, the Flower is apparently worth two gold dragons.

Your friend,
Nymerios Redmont

PS
Tell my family I still live."

You finish reading as you get to your fathers door.

This changes everything. The Valyrian boondogle was actually a success.

Your father calls out. "Cedrick can hear you from in here."

You enter the room with the flower and the note.

You show him the note. He can barely contain his excitement as he reads it aloud.

"My son." He says with a smile. "We will be as rich as the Lannisters." He says. He looks out the window. "And you read it, and kept your cool entering." He says looking at you.

"I am not long for this world." He says looking at you

"Father," You say before he puts up his hand.

"It is time. You are ready to be the Prince. Take the flower with you to the race." He says taking off the seeds. "After the race, you will come directly to me." He says and before you can say a word

"And son. No matter how you do at this race, I have always been proud of you." He says sitting back down on the bed.

"Audry." You say with a pause. "The one of Nymeria's line." You say.

"Yes. She is fast and clever. Race her, and bring any pups you can for market." He says. She is your favorite hound, and you really don't want to be giving her up or putting her at risk.

WHEN WOULD BE CONTINUE ?

I LOVE SLEEPY ANON
>>
The thread is starting to autosage, so I will put up one more before evaluating the story and seeing what route we want to take with Cedrick.

You take the flower as your father instructed. You head to your room and pick up Audry. While Missy is your favorite dog (and the one you used on your first race) Audry is by far the best behaved at home. And is currently sleeping on your bed as you enter the room.

"Audry." You say and the dog wakes up and lunges off the bed to be by your side. You pet Audry a little. "C'mon girl, we got my premier race to win." You say. Your first solo race. You are a bit worried as you walk through the castle to the gates where alexi is. Your father didn't seem like he wanted you to share the information you learned so you keep quiet about it.

"Oh so that's the flower." Alexi says as you arrive.

"Ya. I talked to my father, he wants me to take Audry and any pups I have to the race. Where is Ser Pate" You ask. And no more than a few seconds later Ser Pate sneaks up behind you

"On your guard!" He says as you quickly turn to meet the young prince of house redmont. "Pate how have you been?" You ask and he smiles. "Never better Cedrick. How is the old desert fox. Will he be with us?" He asks.

"He is still under the weather." You say, when you aren't really sure how he is. He seemed fine a few minutes ago. "Ah. So I guess that means today is your Premier isn't it?" He says. "Indeed. I am taking Audry with me." You say causing Pate to give a surprised look.

"And I thought I was going to win." He says in a little bit of a dour tone. "That's the fastest hound in all of westeros, you mark my words. Just don't sell her to the Martells or Targs. They can't appreciate the hound for what she is." Pate says petting the dog. "So are we waiting for Edric and we all ride together?" You ask.

"Yep. This year is different." Ser Pate says. "Many houses are gathered for this race. We have a bit of time Cedrick." He says to you. "Go gather anything else you want to bring."

I guess we'll need another set of cloth or two, a weapon in case something foul happen and some poison because it is Dorne.

Maybe the book with our dogs pedigree if we want to sell the pups and someone wants to check if we're not trying to sell mutts at a premium rate.

Alright I am going to start up another thread. I have have all the data I need for us to make the character.

From what I have read what you want for a character is:
Leader/Rogue or a Leader/Schemer.

However We have one last set of mystery boxes!

You must pick one!

Each one contains a treasure, one that will help you survive and is worth value beyond measure.

>[Mystery Box of Shadows and Dust]
>[Mystery Box of Ancient Rivalry]
>[Mystery Box of Storm and Fire]
>[Mystery Box of Steel and Fury]
>[Mystery Box of Sand and Stone]
>[Mystery Box of Tea and Incense]

What you chose will be revealed at the post of the first chapter.
