>Change of name? Edition

You were not but a humble maid for fanciful estate in the prosperous Southern Counties, but alas you were cast out!

Escaping a fate most terrible, you found help along the way, starting out with barely rags on your back, to now a tenuous member of the (very) lower middle class. By the grace of God, fate, or perhaps just luck, your life has changed dramatically in the last year and may yet change still. Something which brings fear as much as anticipation.

Accept it and flaunt your pride.

I just remembered we should test fire Morning Glory.

Here's the previous thread by the way if anyone's interested, it's still up;

>>
>Last 'twas left off

Magdalena (you!) have been a student of the lone magical school in the country for over a month now. You've taken fairly well to life in the academy, even if it does interfere with your freedom to pursue other ventures, but you have hired help for that.

You've gotten to know your fellow female students, made friends with some of them, and advanced beyond the basic level for most of your classes (math is quite difficult!) to find better placement appropriate for your age. You've also impressed many people with your natural magical potential, and have really focused your on your studies of late to try and make up for the years of training that the other students have had. Because of this, in the month that has passed, you found a forgotten part of the school library which has some of the leftover personal writings of former students.

>The city is becoming cooler as the season sets in, and Fall shows signs of its presence. What do you want to do now?
>>
>>635661
Go over these personal writings.

And buy a journal and writing things to record our experience in magics.

Also ask a teacher to give us some targets to practice our custom magic.
>>
>>635594
You're going to have to roll for that.

>>635665
There seems to be some staff writings but mostly students, on various topics and matters. Are there any you're interested in particular?

>Topics in academics
>Topics in reality
>Topics in history

You do seek to buy your own journal though, probably high time since an entire portion of magic revolves around writings, symbols and glyphs.

As for the target practice, the groundskeeper sets some up for you, some posts with rotten vegetables on top.
>>
Rolled 9 (1d100)

>>635696
>Topics in reality.

>During the break test fire Morning Glory on the veggie targets.
R.I.P vegetables.
>>
>>635696
>>635711
The roll was for summoning it right?
>>
>>635714
Right, you summoned it. As long as you don't crit in either direction you summon it no problem, and it doesn't go away till you want it to. Roll if you want for shooting, otherwise can go with the 9.
>>
Rolled 10 (1d100)

>>635717
I'll roll for shooting then.

Can't be too hard to hit a non moving vegetable.
>>
>>635727
So I missed the vegetables and hit the wall around the school.

Hope it doesn't turn to ash.
>>
>>635727
Well after the first shot you're asked to stop because the arrow not only misses the vegetable on the post, but hits and burns a hole clear through the stone wall behind. Some people had gathered to watch this, and while some laughed at your miss, others were quite interested. Beatrice in particular jumps a little in place while holding your arm and saying how amazing it was.

One of the male students also approaches, interested and asking questions about the spell and the magic.

>How do you respond?
>>
>>635758
>I call it Morning Glory. I made it when I tried to materialize the aether as a weapon. I didn't think it'd be this strong though.

>You can't copy the spell though. It's a sort of 'You can either do it or you can't' type. Like magic blooded stuff.
>>
>>635758
Damn OP we burnt a hole through a stone wall.
I feel bad for anyone that gets shot by this.

I also like how people laugh without understanding the implications that we just burnt a hole through solid stone.
>>
>>635782
You speak with the fellow who introduces himself ___?, a fellow Almese like you and Beatrice. He's quite impressed that you fashioned a bow purely from aether, though he wonders if you'd not try your hand at something more practical than a weapon.

When you tell him he can't copy it, he says he isn't interested in stealing your work, but would like to learn to try. He does inform you though that just because he can't duplicate it, doesn't mean there aren't others there who can.

>What do you want to do?

As for the topic of interest you chose from the writings you found, in reality, what interests you?

>The school
>The city
>The country
>The world

>>635792
You don't know what kind of magic they're capable of.
>>
>>635825
>Yeah but I can't teach it though. I will the aether to do what I want with my thoughts. There's no process or anything.

Ill name him Christopher.

And topics.

>The school
>>
>>635835
Christopher, the curious younger student.

And roll to see what you learn about the school from this particular writing.
>>
Rolled 67 (1d100)

>>635860
Let me rev up my ones.
>>
>>635863
>67

This writing is about 20 years old and talks both about the teachers and students of the time. Interestingly you learn of a problem the school was having at that time, of students getting injured by something, and people being afraid.

>What now?

Of external note, you receive word that Lisbeth's guardian's presence is known in town, which correlates with the return letter you got, that they might be in the capitol in the coming weeks.
>>
>>635879
We should try to hang out with Christopher more.
Also Maggie needs to get on a jogging regimen.
>>
>>635884
You can spend time with Christopher but only outside around the grounds since neither of you are allowed to the other gender's domicile. What are you interested in doing with him when you get the chance? He's not that socially minded and is mainly interested in academics.

Jogging is going to be hard though, since you won't be able to wear clothes that permit you to jog well, and you'll only be able to do it in the grounds. You could go outside the grounds but you'd need a male escort and the guards are seriously not going to follow you jogging around town. Working out other ways where you're not seen, like common exercises in your room or somewhere else private are possible though.
>>
>>635903
We can talk shop with Christopher.
Maybe discuss whether or not aether can read and understand intent and desire.

And maybe do jumping jacks and squats?
With light push ups?
And sit ups too.
>>
>>635908
It's not often but when you're able to you can discuss magic and studies with him. That'll be a conversation for another time though.

For now you set your focus to working out again. All of those are exercises you can do, but how much are you committed to the effort? In the past you've tried working out before, but it's usually been like an effort every couple of months, giving up right after and waiting awhile before attempting again.
>>
>>635935
Once a day.
Every day.

We have to be serious about this.
>>
>>635947
Well every day might be a bit much, but you can try as often as you're able, and commit to getting into shape. It will be hard though because of your physique and build.

>So what's the plan moving forward for these next few days-to-week?
>>
>>635961
>Continue studying magic
>Continue exercise regimen
>Continue visiting Aea and giving her materials.
>Start using part of our journal to record spells we invented and our special physical traits like our hearing.
>>
>>635967
You continue with classes like normal, as well as visiting Aea to give her ingredients, usually spit since you've given her all the hair you can afford. You also add exercise to your routine as well.

By this time it occurs to you that your journal will make a good way of keeping track of your personal progress, including magical and physical.

>Make a roll for the weekly happenings.
>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

>>635988
Rolling for life.
>>
>>635992
>47

The week goes by pretty normally, though quite tough for you since you're terribly sore from exercising. It's really hard to stay motivated to keep it up when it's this strenuous. At any rate, in your classes and studies, particularly of the leftover writings, you come upon this idea of being able to combine spells. You're not too sure about it, but it seems to be something that exists and is possible.

As for beyond the walls of the school, your male guardian, ___? the merchant's son comes to see you one day and asks for your help like you said you'd be able to provide. Apparently there's a fancy little ball coming up for the Hallows Eve and he'd like you to accompany him so he doesn't look like a loser again in front of his peers.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>636019
>Of course I'll be there!

We need to get decked.
Black silk gloves
Red dress.
Our trademark necklace from dad.
Nice heels.

And if we don't know ballroom dancing we need to learn.
>Combining spells

Hmmm.

Combustion and Morning Glory...
Exploding Fiery Death.
>>
>>636033
Well the spell is to summon the bow, not the bow itself. So by combining it with exploding spell, the act of you summoning it would cause an explosion.

As for attire, the fellow says he's willing to pay for your fancy clothes, if you care to accompany him so you can be measured and fitted. And no you definitely don't know how to dance, but how would you learn?

You've got about four weeks till the fancy ball so you've got a little time to prepare.
>>
>>636033
Also remember, 16th century, so 16th century fashion.
>>
>>636047
Ask one of our roommates.
They're all nobility this can't be hard.

Also I just realized we have no good spells for combining.

I have more ideas for spells but I'll hold off on that.

Also a picture of what we shall wear.
>>
>>636107
Well you can combine standard spells you know, they don't have to be ones you created.

As for asking for dance help, you're kind of out of luck for your roommates. Maeyal is from another culture, and Beatrice isn't nobility so admits she only learned a little dancing in recent years and isn't much good at it.

That's a nice dress though, a bit gothic in style, but you'll need to be sized and fitted for it, which means a day in town probably with the merchant's son. Anything besides that you might be interested in, while out and about?
>>
Rolled 26 (1d100)

>>636134
We need to get a bracelet.

One that looks like a dragon that curls around our wrist and bites down on it's tail.

Also search for someone to teach us to dance.
>>
>>636145
>26

Well Eliza can teach you to dance. You'll need to think of a way to approach her about it though and make it worth her effort.

As for getting the dress and accessories you set the days off class aside for it an let the merchant's son know.
>>
>>636159
If Elizabeth teaches us how to dance we will let her ask all the questions she wants about us.

If that doesn't work ask her what she would want from us.
>>
>>636170
You approach her and make your deal, she's just flattered you came to her in the first place, and you actually find out she'll be going to a ball herself, though one for proper nobility. She still is curious to ask though, and asks about your experience as a maid, your employer, and what it was that you were cast out for.

>Dancing practice by Eliza can be added to your schedule now.
>>
>>636201
>Our experience as a maid.
Show scars
>Our employer.
An awful person
>Why we were cast out
No comment.

Anyways edge out some of that magic study time and place dance practice in that schedule void.
>>
Shiiieeet im pretty late, i have some catching up to do
>>
>>636215
You speak your mind about your time as a maid, and to prevent any further questioning, show her the scars on your back. She is quite appalled by this, but touches your back and says she's sorry it happened to you. It makes you feel better about the situation, and better that she'll teach you.

So in the meantime you decrease your time spent studying magic, in order to be taught how to dance by Eliza.

---

Several days pass as usual, and the time off classes comes as the merchant's son arrives one morning to escort you in town for the day. You have to get sized and fitted for a dress, and you have at least a bracelet in mind, but you have the whole day pretty much to do as you please together with him.

>What's the plan?
>>
>>636222
Anon I've been thinking of spells we can do later.
(A good long while later)
>Sword spell
Lightning based of course.

A spell for blocking off a mages ability to cast temporarily.

I have another idea for a defensive spell.
And maybe a sort of aim assist spell to help us shoot our bow.
>>636247
Let's stop by Aea first.
Introduce them and chat a bit then head to the menagerie.
>>
>>636258
First thing's first, you stop off at Aea's to deliver ingredients for her, again she lets you know how well business is doing however she's starting to get attention and questions. While you're doing your thing and spitting in a bottle, Aea and the merchant's son get to know one another. She takes a liking to him though and is very forward and friendly, which makes him uncomfortable. The urchin boy also shows up while you're there and lets you know that he found a way in and out of the local jail. You're not sure what worth that has but it's good to know.

At any rate you'd like to stay to fill up the bottle, but you decide to leave early and prevent Aea from getting in the merchant's son's pants. You make your way to the menagerie for whatever purpose, and get in with relative ease. The merchant's son has never been before so is wide eyed at the things he sees, and you're reminded that he doesn't know about your parentage.

>What do you do?
>>
>>636309
There's a mermaid here.
Let's go find her
We can save the dragon visit for last.
>>
>>636320
You decide to finally check out the mermaid for yourself since everyone's been going on about how amazing she is. You make your way through the place together and ask around, seeing some amazing things you didn't know were here (since you've never really gone about the place entirely) and finally locate the mermaid enclosure. Unfortunately when to look to see, there's signs on the barred walls indicating that the mermaid is currently out so the enclosure can be repaired and cleaned.

It's a little disappointing, but the merchant's son says there's always other times, and he's sure it would have been amazing anyway.

>Now what?

Noteworthy, that in going through the place, being exposed to all the various exotic and even magical creatures, you are met with a whole ton of smells you're not familiar with. Not unpleasant, but like you could identify them by.
>>
>>635711
>>635727
Kek, only changed by 1
>>
>>636339
>No mermaid
Dangit.
Let's explore a bit more then head to the dragon enclosure.

Also OP do we know any lightning spells?
>>636342
Dice God was teaching me to count to ten.
>>
>>636349
You take your time going about the place and are just as impressed as the merchant's son, seeing things like strange birds, odd reptiles, weird amphibians, and uncouth mammals. Even a few abnormal fish. To you and your 16th century disposition it's all rather amazing, and you care not that most of these animals are probably suffering or at least have very bleak lives in the tiny cages and enclosures here.

Finally to the dragon enclosure, where she is as always, and notices you again and perks up.

>Assuming you want to see her, do you break the truth to the merchant's son?

You know some electricity spells but none in the sense of "lightning" where you can shoot a thunderous bolt out that chars things to cinder.
>>
>>636372
Are there even spells that shoot lightning to char my enemies?

And can Charles come with us into the secret room?

Anyways let's go talk to her.
He can come if he wants and let's see if he figures it out.
>>
>>636372
>>636395
And no don't tell him.

But don't deny anything either.
He has to figure it out.
>>
>>636395
Yeah there's spells to shoot lightning offensively, though they're more advanced than what you're at.

At any rate you go through the same process of getting in, which you can tell as always, annoys the overseer to the place. The problem arises when Charles doesn't want to go in and doesn't think you should either, and he ends up going in only in the hopes of protecting you. As such he stands in front of you the whole time and won't let you get near the dragon or the main chamber of her room either really.

She doesn't seem amused and says she doesn't approve of your choice in a mate. Charles meanwhile keeps shouting at the "beast" to stay back and not to play it's foul trickeries and evil ways at you.
>>
>>636411
>Calm down he's not my mate. And Charles don't call her a beast. She's my friend. And dragons aren't evil that's offensive.

>Anyways I finally got a chance to try out my bow and it was actually nice. It made a hole clean through the stone wall at my school.

>You know you've never really talked about yourself. Tell me what your life was like.
>>
>>636421
She says he sure is acting like your mate. Charles meanwhile tells you not to speak so loud as it will only aggravate the beast, and tells you all evil creatures like dragons will pretend otherwise to get your guard down. After that Charles and the dragon get into an argument.

Because of this, you don't really have a chance to converse with her.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d100)

>>636447
>MORNING GLORY!

>EVERYONE SHUT UP RIGHT NOW!

>Charles stop talking bad about dragons! That offends me personally. And she's not bad she's really nice! We're friends.

>And also Charles isn't my mate. He's helping me get around annoying laws that make life annoying for women. I'm helping him back with something.
>>

>>
>>636463
>>636447

>>
>>636463
>>EVERYONE SHUT UP RIGHT NOW!

The dragon takes to her feet and nears you, knocking Charles over with her tail and holding him down on the ground with it as he tries to fight it. She's interested in you though, as she slams you against the wall with a front hand, pushing you up against it so that you're soon a few tens of feet in the air with only her hand holding you there. Moving her thumb (or equivalent), you feel a talon against your neck, as she brings her head close to you and turning so she can look at you with an eye up close.

>"Tell me what to do again."

She says. You can smell the killing intent on her as your little heart races, and hers beats as slow as ever. Charles you can hear but can't see, struggling against her tail as ever and shouting all manner of threats and defamations of her.

>>636486

You don't make it more than five words, she senses your tone and presses into your throat with her claw till you can't breathe and certainly can't talk. She tells you, you really must have been abandoned by your father, else you wouldn't presume to behave this way towards her. Lifting her tail she slams it down on Charles to which you hear a choked yell, and when she raises her tail he's not moving anymore. Bringing her fingers around you she takes you from the wall and back into the main room chamber with her, sitting in a fully upright position so she has action of both front arms, using her free hand to take the necklace from around your neck and offhandedly wonders aloud what she should do with you now. Stripping you naked and throwing you outside in the cage for all to see for what you are crosses her mind, as she attempts to pry at your dress with a claw.

>What do you do?
>>
>>636627
>Panic
>Tears
What the hell she's gone full dragon she won't listen to reason.

OP if we mutate some muscle with magic can we escape Her grip?
>>
>>636646
You could be a full dragon and still probably not escape. At your age, you'd be roughly the size of a horse, she's larger than a house.

At any rate you panic now and start crying saying anything that crosses your mind from apologizing profusely to begging for mercy. You notice eventually her anger subsides a little, at least enough that she doesn't toss you out naked. She doesn't let you go but her grip loosens and she lowers you a little, asking why she shouldn't teach you humility, and what you think your punishment should be.
>>
>>636673
>Sobbing
>I'm sorry I just wanted to visit you with Charles and then fighting. And then I got mad. And then everyone got angry. I just wanted to be your friend.

>I'm sorry if I acted up. I just don't want my friends to fight.

>Sob quietly
>>
>>636692
This
>>
>>636692
She says it was a mistake to bring him here, and wants to know what you thought would happen, how you thought he would react. Just because you're tolerant of her doesn't mean anyone else would be. She says that unless another dragon happens into your lives, the only thing that matters in the world are you and her, no one and nothing else. She sets you down as she speaks on that last part, running a claw through your short hair, and trying to express the importance of it even if you don't understand.

She lets you know that she was and still is angry that you traipsed into her home with a human, treated her equivalent to him, and treated neither like friends. Walking into her bedroom basically, and telling her what to do. You said you didn't want your friends to fight, but it's not up to you to make decisions for her.

Bringing her hands down to your level, she crosses them around you and draws you close in a more proper embrace, which is kind of weird for you since she's sitting upright so it's like she's hugging you to her lower abdomen which is only as high as you reach from the ground, but you get the gesture and strangely for just a moment feel some sort of empathic link between you and experience her emotions and feelings for that short moment. A strong, deep feeling in your chest, to your heart, very complex and overpowering for you, that you feel a little sick even.

She seems to realize what you just experienced as her demeanor changes significantly, though she doesn't say anything about it or act differently. Says does say she'll forgo the punishment but keep the necklace, and that you can have it back when you've earned it.

>What do you do?

As an aside she also asks why you don't think he's your mate.
>>
>>636774
>Is Charles ok?
>>
>>636774
>Why we don't think he's our mate

Because we have absolutely no plan to bed him whatsoever.

>Treated neither like friends.
Good point. I got annoyed too quickly.

Also do they give you tea here?
>>636796
Also this
He can't die right now.
That'd be bad.

Anon she seems to be saying more dragon superiority stuff.
>>
>>636818
You tell her you don't have any interest towards him, and she asks if you really can't sense it on him, his intentions towards you. She says maybe he's just a friend to you, but he definitely doesn't feel the same way.

As for tea, she has no idea what you're talking about since tea hasn't been brought from the Orient to this continent yet, and spread around. In fact, how do you know what tea is?

>>636796
You go to check on Charles, she doesn't stop you. He's alive, or breathing at least, but not conscious. You could try to rouse him though.
>>
>>636854
Fuck rousing him, when we're done let's drag him out and then wake him up, if we wake him uo now hes probably going to be mad at her, let's say goodbye and leave
>>
>>636854
>Tea doesn't exist.
That is awful. Just awful.

>How do you know what tea is.
Quick OP retcon that question before we break the fourth wall.

Also
>Charles likes us
Oh dear. That's going to get annoying.

Anyways let's leave him unconscious.

>What about you?
>I know nothing about you.

Also OP can we combine our electricity spells with our bow summon to give our bow a lightning attribute?
>>
>>636880
I'll support leaving.
Wave goodbye before we do though.
And say.
>I'll talk to you Alon some other time!
>>
>>636882
Wouldn't that zap us when we summon it?
>>
>>636895
Our magic seems incapable of hurting us directly against our will.

Because our bow seems to scorch everything but us.
>>
>>636880
>>636882
You did have questions for her and a possible conversation in waiting, but decide it's for the best just to leave. Before you go she says to remember what she said, it's just you and her in the world.

Once you're outside, you wake Charles up with the help of the guard. He freaks out at first, thinking the situation is still dangerous, but you try to calm him down. He says his arms hurt pretty bad where he was trying to keep her off, and then she tail slammed him. He's ambulatory though, and can get around still.

>What do you do now?

>>636895
>>636902
Aether functions differently. You can put an electrical effect to the bow (why though?) but you would need to actually remake the bow spell or make a new one. You can't magically alter a spell you already created, you'd need to create a new one to combine it in that way. If you try to do it now, you'll summon the bow and there will be a blast of electricity which you'll get shocked by.
>>
>>636919
Well I might as well just make the lightning blade then.

Anyways.

>Charles I have questions. Let's start with this one. Why did you taunt a dragon? Why?
>>
>>636919
Lets get him to a doctor or something, it's our fault his arm is roughed up
>>
>>636926
>Our fault.
It's iffy territory.
I still don't get why he started arguing with a dragon.

And it could've gone way worse.
>>
>>636925
>>636926
You figure to take him to a doctor just in case, talking to him along the way. You ask him what he was thinking, he says he was acting to protect you of course, and wouldn't let you be spoken to out of line by that foul creature. Of course!

---

The doctor prescribes a healthy leeching! Charles things he'd rather not. You have no medical knowledge beyond the most basic for cuts and scrapes, so a leeching sounds sensible to you.

>What now?
>>
>>636933
>Trying to protect us.
Charles I've talked to her before.
And it's gone fine before.
I'm not a helpless woman.

Let's take him to Aea.
We need to talk
>>
>>636933
>>636939
This works
>>
>>636939

He has no idea how you're able to talk to her or why they would let you in there with the beast, but he tells you those guards and overseer with be hearing from him about it, his father even if it comes down to it.

You of course tell him you're not helpless, and he says it doesn't matter. Even the strongest and most capable man could easily be killed by a beast like that.

---

You go back to Aea's, who isn't surprised to see you, but remarks that you weren't gone that long.

>What do you do?
>>
>>636973
>Why they let us in.
We've done it before.
And come out perfectly fine.
>Even the strongest most capable man could easily be killed by her.
Yeah and we could cause that man to burst into flames so I'm unimpressed.

Also don't call her a beast.

Ask Charles if we can trust him.

And use smell sense to make sure.
>>
>>636999
>We've done it before.
>And come out perfectly fine.
That's what he means, who in their right mind would let someone in there with that monster?

>Yeah and we could cause that man to burst into flames so I'm unimpressed.
He asks if you honestly believe you could hold your own against that, or any dragon. You ask him not to call her a beast and he says he can't understand why that bothers you, it's a fearsome, baleful creature of the kind which in the past terrorized the continent.

He says you can trust him and he says of course, and while you can sense that he's genuine about how he feels on that matter, he also doesn't anticipate or believe you would actually drop something on him that he would actually need to be trusted about.
>>
>>637013
>Why it bothers you.
Charles why do you think I can cast magic?
The blood of a magic creature flows through me.
My father is one to be precise.
Now guess what magic creature he is.
>>
>>637024
>Now guess what magic creature he is.

"A unicorn?"
>>
>>637030
>Face palm
Hint.
It flies.
Has scales.
And we were just in a room with one.
>>
>>637034
His initial expression of shock and perhaps disgust soon gives way to curiosity.

>"How did that work with your mother, if your father was a dragon? The logistics of it, I mean."

Aea had been working and sort of listening but when this comes up, you notice she's stopped working to focus on the conversation and is listening intently.
>>
>>637030
Kek
>>
>>637039
Dragons aren't always gigantic.
My father is an adolescent so he's actually the right size for...that.

You understand why this is a bit touchy for me? And why I enjoy her company?
>>
>>637044
Since you answered at least his (though certainly not Aea's) curiosity, Charles becomes serious again and apologizes, fairly stating that he didn't know any of this.

He says though, to look at yourself. You father may have been a dragon but you're human, obviously so. He supposes there's nothing wrong with being curious about your heritage, but you shouldn't want to be a part of that, a part of that history. Just look at the legends, remember the stories, why would you want to be associated with something which is known for death, destruction, suffering and evil? You have people who love y- CARE about you for who you are, and you'll always be welcome in human society.

What do you gain by trying to be like your father, compared to what you will lose trying to be less like your mother, less like yourself?
>>
>>637055
Well I'd like to point to the angry mobs that would attempt to kill me.
I'd also like to point to the people that have done very... questionable things.
And also the mages among other people that would kill and kidnap me for my blood and other such things to sell.

I accept that I'm half human and half dragon. I'd prefer not to forget either. Cause that's just denial.
And also human society severely limits me because I'm a woman.
I'm both. So I'm trying to take the best from both.
>>
>>637068
He says if you choose to be like your father, then you give cause to those horrible things to happen to you. Or at least most of them. As far as he can tell you're perfectly normally human, no angry mob or mage is going to try to kill you for that.

So in the end he asks you, what best is there that your father has that you don't? He can say only power, and if you're after power, then he's not the one you should be trying to convince you're in the right.
>>
>>637103
Dayum that's deep

>So we going to that dance or wut?
>>
>>637132
It's at the end of the month, so you still have three weeks left. Today was just to get the dress and accessories for it!
>>
>>637103
>What is the best your father has that you don't
Freedom. And not being discriminated against?
People discriminate alot. For stupid reasons too.

>As far as he can tell
Looks can be deceiving. I already have some traits from my dragon blood. It'll only increase.

>But people have so much. My friends. Family. So much emotion and care. So many people I care about.

>I'll be me. Whether I look human or not doesn't matter. I'll protect my friends. I'll help people. Being good isn't about how you look. It's about you.
>>
>>637145
Is the dragon in the menagerie free? Will becoming like her prevent you from being discriminated against?

Whatever the case, he says in the end the choice is yours, and you can trust him not to talk. Aea reminds you though that she'd sell you for a wooden penny.

>Charles asks what's next then? It's a lot to process, a lot for him to take in and get used to, but you still said you'd go to the ball with him and he still said he'll take you, so you still need a dress.
>>
>>637172
He left.
I'm pretty sure we can afford a dress.
We should go get fitted.

Also
>Aea reminds you though that she'd sell you for a wooden penny.

This is a mistype right?

Anyways I need to sleep.
>>
>>637181
Who is the "He"?

And yes you could probably afford a dress, but Charles is both offering to pay anyway, and he also knows where good clothiers are in the city.

>mistype

No, she actually said that. You detect she isn't serious though.
>>
>>637187
Oh I thought Charles left.
Anyways.
>We can continue this talk later. We still need to get the dress. And the bracelet. Let's go.

Night OP.
>>
Waiting 4 u bby
>>
>>638491
Whatchu wanna do then?

>>637202
With the clothes in mind, you leave Aea's with Charles, who takes you to a couple clothiers before you settle on one he thinks is the best. One of the attendant girls is able to size and and get your measurements for a fitting, and they let you know the dress will be made and ready with the specifications you have in mind in a little over two weeks, since Charles paid for priority.

After that you go looking for the bracelet and he takes you to a few places, but no luck for the kind you're looking for. You could seek to have it custom made though if you want? Charles also says he's pretty hungry and wonders if you'd want to go somewhere to eat?
>>
>>638629
The bracelet can wait, its not something we absolutely need and let's go get something to eat
>>
>>638629
Yes let us go get sustenance.

And we should definitely get it custom made.

Can we magic it perhaps and make it a magic item?
>>
>>638644
Either way you agree to his proposition and go look for somewhere to eat. He finds a decent and nicer quality pie shoppe which is honestly quite good and better than the food you're used to back at school. Not that it's bad there, this is just really good. The difference between the groundskeeper's wife and the headmistress (and some help from you and the other girls) cooking, and a proper chef.

While sitting and talking over the meal with Charles, you're approached by a woman about your age who is very surprised and delighted to see you, saying she's from Rea and was one of the servants there. You're vaguely familiar with her when she explains more, and it warms your heart to meet someone from the past. She doesn't want to impose on you and Charles, but says she's staying in the city (as it turns out not too far from the school) and would love for you to come over some time, or to spend a day together, and catch up.

>What do you want to do?

>>638661
Magic probably not, but you can certainly enchant it yourself.
>>
>>638667
Yes.
We must make arrangements to converse with her later.

And can we enchant it with barrier spell?
Need them defensive bonuses.
>>
>>638674
You can enchant it with whatever you want, it's all down to what magic you know and can perform on it, and you have started learning common defense spells now that you moved up a grade.

At any rate you reciprocate the feelings and let her know you'd like to meet with her again as she suggests. After she departs Charles wants to know more, which you tell him about your time in Rea, leaving out certain details of course. Awhile later and you're both fed and feeling better, and it's late afternoon approaching sunset. Charles mentions the city can have a pretty active night life depending on where you go, but the choice is yours.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>638667
Im suspicious about her, can we dragon sense her?
>>
>>638695
You can always dragon sense anyone. She seems genuinely happy to see you and is telling the truth, though her intentions don't seem entirely at heart with what she says. Like she wants or hopes for something from you. Proper friendship, fashion advice, help, love, you can't tell that much.
>>
>>638694
Well I have another jewelry idea.
I simple bracelet that reads.
>Humanity
We can have the dragon bracelet on our left and our humanity bracelet on our right.

Poetic and all that.

Anyways any place to gamble?
Like cards.
We can make a killing.
>>
>>638710
In your simple peasant background and lack of wisdom, yes, that does sound poetic to you, and a good idea! You'll have to remember to get something like that.

As for gambling, that's difficult since unless you're willing to go into some sort of den of iniquity where you could very well get mugged or worse, you're going to have a hard time finding a place that will let a lady gamble to the extent of playing cards. You suppose you could proxy gamble through Charles though, pose as the woman hanging on his arm, and tell him what to play for you or give advice.

Does that interest you? A fair reminder that you're not that good at gambling actually and the last time you tried you lost money.
>>
>>638728
We can let Charles do most of the gambling.

We can use our dragon sense to aid him.

We can tell when someone is feeling confident or bluffing hard core.

We're gonna have to play smart and work together.

It goes alright. You know if you were the one playing you'd be doing better, but playing through Charles works decently and he makes a little money. Not really enough to justify or risk playing, but you have fun together at least.

By the time you feel you've played enough, it's night already, though the place you're in has other functions like a bar and some instrument players if you wanted to do anything else.
>>
>>638808
Let's listen to music then.
And enjoy (small) amounts of alcohol.
>>
>>638819
You decide to hang out for a couple hours still, take in the scenery, listen to the music, take a drink or two, even dance a little.

Alas, your terrible weakness! Roll to see how you fare.
>>

Rolled 84 (1d100)

>>638838

>>
>>638863
Nice save

We're going to have to make a list of Maggie's weaknesses.
The first two I can think of.

>Physical activity.
>Alcohol.
>>
>>638863
>84

You remember your last time drinking and keep a lid on it for the most part. You get a little tipsy but not enough to make stupid decisions, and with Charles there you're good. After the couple hours he figures it's time to get you back, though asks if you want to go back to the academy or not since he's not sure how they'll react if you return to the ladies house as you are. He offers you to stay at his place, or even Aea's if you care to, though the choice is yours.

>>638870
Well Maggy's problem is that she's not a lightweight so once she starts drinking she tends not to stop. And when there's appealing or fun activity around (she's a sucker for dancing) it's easy to lose track of how many she's knocked back.

As for physical activity, she's definitely getting better. She's not "fit" for sure, shortstack country girl build, but her problem is motivation rather than not being in shape.
>>
>>638901
It's still a weakness for alcohol.
Not knowing when to stop is a weakness in this case.

Anyways let's wrap this up. Make sure are bracelets get ordered or whatever. And go home to sleep.
>>
>>638915
>It's still a weakness for alcohol.

That's fair to say yeah, just not that she couldn't win a drinking contest.

You figure to head back to school anyway, you think you can pass as sober, as any drunkard might! You make your way out together, leaning against Charles for some warmth in the cool night air. About ten minutes of walking through the streets though, and find your path blocked by some rough looking sorts, saying they saw you come out of the gambling bar and are interested in the contents of your pockets. Charles puts up a good front, but it becomes clear they're armed. After that Charles is more accepting of just giving them what they want.

>What do you do?
>>
Rolled 45 (1d100)

>>638947
>We didn't win that much to be honest

>>
Rolled 75 (1d100)

>>638947
Tell them that we have a magic school to get back too.

(Cast barrier. Try to cast it on Charles if we can.)
>>
>>638956
You try to convince them to leave you alone, but even if you haven't any money, they're fine taking other stuff. Charles has some pretty nice clothes for example, the buttons and other accessories could fetch a little at least.

>>638967
Casting a magic spell though changes their minds. You're not advanced enough that you could cast a barrier on someone else, but you're holding onto Charles so you can cast a barrier on the both of you. One of the thugs still tries to mug you but Charles is able to put him in his place and the others let you pass.

---

Eventually Charles gets you back to the school, though unfortunately it looks like you might have left things too late since the gate is shut. You suppose you could try to find your own way in, but it's your choice.

>What do you do?
>>
>>638985
Shit.

Will we get in trouble for being late?
>>
>>638990
Not on the days off class, some of the students actually go home during those days. It's just that they don't bother keeping the school open with guards into the night during those days.

If you wandered into the women's house and blabbed that you found some way past the wall or jumped it, you might get in trouble, but if you just head in and can make it to your room without being noticed it wouldn't be a problem.
>>

>>639060
There's spells for that yeah. You're almost certain though that the gate would have magical defenses against something like that though, or some sort of alarm.

Helping to climb the wall though should be pretty easy, feel free to roll/cast.

>>639066
You sure you want to do that? You can, just think about it before you commit to the roll.

You think it probably not the best idea to try to perform magic and find out the hard way that the school has defenses.

So instead you decide to take Charles up on his offer, which he doesn't mind at all. Going through the streets again, eventually you come to his house (or his father's more like) in town, where you're greeted by a maid. It looks like she'd been up late doing some washing, but is well and willing to help out. Charles lets you know you can sleep in his sister's bed since she's out of town, but in the meantime asks the maid if she can whip something up to eat, for which he helps out. Good point, you had lunch together earlier but no dinner, you're quite hungry. He takes you to the ground floor sitting room where there's some nice chairs and other furniture as well as a lit fire, a welcome sight.

For now though you're in Charles' house, a decent middle-class place, with some time if you care to spend it, while he and the maid make a hasty late night dinner.

>What do you do?
>>
>>639201
>Eat dinner and chat a bit.

>>
>>639208
This and when hes with us say
>A little birdie told me you like me Charles... *hic* Dat true lover boy?

Then pass out
>>
>>639208
You decide to just wait in the sitting room, and doze off while waiting, politely roused by the maid when she returns with some food and Charles soon after. He asks the maid to join the both of you, and together you have a comfy light dinner by the fire, over some conversation.

>>639220
You're not *that* drunk but feeling cheeky you bring up what the dragon said (without actually saying her as the source) and question Charles' feelings towards you. He's caught off guard and the maid is quite embarrassed, but he dodges around the matter and says he's pleased to know you and such, without admitting his feelings. You tease him a bit, though eventually the conversation returns to normal topics, and you end up dozing off again while they talk, after having eaten.

Later you're temporarily woken again as Charles and the maid help you upstairs and he bids you goodnight, after which the maid helps you to the bedroom and out of your clothes before laying you to sleep and letting you know she's available if you need anything.

---

You wake to the maid again, the next morning as she says she'll be making breakfast, and figured you might want to get up before Charles (still asleep) to get ready for the day, and drew you a bath downstairs and has your clothes ready.

>What do you do?
>>

>>639255

>>

You take the chance to do some basic workouts again, though your motivation dwindles from not seeing results so soon.

You wash up and get dressed, do you care to stick around for breakfast though? If and when you plan to leave, have you a reason for Charles?

You don't have classes today, you've got a full free day. They resume tomorrow though.
>>
>>639288
Well then, stay for breakfast and wait for Charles to wake up
>>
>>639288
Well let's have breakfast.
He can come with us later if he wants.
But we have things to do after morning food time.
>>
>>639297
>>639323
Well he's up by the time you're washed and dressed at breakfast. It's at a table this time and nicer, though still fairly casual.

>So you've got a day ahead of you, what do you want to do?
>>
>>639342
Go to school and ask if Lisbeth's guardian is in the Capitol yet and then visit that girl from Rea
>>
>>639342
We also need to give Aea her daily spit.

OP do elves have their own country?
>>
>>639393
Taking your leave you head to Aea's to spit in a bottle for her.

As for the elves you don't know of any countries belonging to them. Certainly not any on this continent, though they do have communities that are more or less elf exclusive. That's the same with every race really.

>>639361
Making your way back to the school, you ask Nera, the headmistress about Lisbeth's guardian and after a little while she gets back to you and informs you that he is in the city presently. If you want they can set up a meeting for his free time.
>>
>>639410
Tell her to set that meeting up as soon as possible, we need to talk to him after that let's go visit that girl from Rea
>>
>>639410
Then let's have this meeting set up.
Better now then never.
>>
>>639416
>>639420
A couple of hours of playing messenger tag and finally you're able to have a meeting with the guy, and Nera and another school staff member accompanying.

He's an older fellow, clearly a traditional noble. He wants to know what's been so important, and after Nera explaining the situation you tell him you want to adopt Lisbeth more or less.

He politely but quite plainly refuses, saying he wouldn't approve of someone in your position adopting her. As well, he's her guardian as part of his responsibility to the crown in this matter, so he feels it's a duty in some sense.

>What do you do?
>>
>>639458
>Someone of our position.
What does that mean?
Please..tell me.
(Keep rage contained.)
>Guardian cause it's his duty
Have you even had a meaningful conversation with her. Once?
>>
>>639458
Tell him we have a pretty good setup and that we can take care of her once her schooling is done , mention the silk business and that we're friends with the Marquis over on Rea
>>
>>639467
He says a young single woman, who herself isn't very orthodox if she's going to magic school and owns a business.

You try to ask of his connection her and how close they are, he says during the winter recess she lives with his family. From what you know though, that's only like two weeks of the year. The rest of the time apparently, they have no contact.

>>639469
You mention these things but it doesn't really help your case, and he considers it strange.

It seems that he's less concerned with you not being nobility, and more that you're not a traditional sort of lady, and doesn't think that would make the best environment for Lisbeth. And of course there's the issue that he doesn't want to shirk his responsibility to the crown, for his help in the program.
>>
>>639513
What kind of negative effect do you think I'll have on Lisbeth. She seems to have only gotten happier after I've arrived.
>>
>>639513
>>639526
This and if he still refuses to let us adopt her ask him what will it take to his change his mind
>>
>>639526
He thinks she wouldn't be raised to be a proper lady, if she looked up to you or took after you as an example. Certainly you don't follow traditional standards, and he doesn't feel that's correct for Lisbeth. Particularly in her case given her background, it's what she needs he thinks, to be raised properly.

He says it's good that she's happier, but that isn't the important issue here, as she wouldn't know what's best for herself.

>>639593
You ask what would make him change his mind, he says if you served as a more traditional role model then he wouldn't mind. Basically if you did away with your business interests and other involvements, a simple solution being to get married and having your would-be husband to simply take over the matter while you represent an appropriately ladylike standard and behavior.
>>
>>639612
>Proper lady
I used to be a proper lady once.
Then I almost died.
Then I realized a man won't just come an protect me.
So I have done it myself.

Also you know nothing of how Lisbeth is now.
How do you know she is even becoming a proper lady?
>>
>>639645
When you talk about your experience, he says your definition is very different from his, and hearing that you almost died as well as your self-declared independence/competency, further sours him to the idea of you adopting Lisbeth. He in fact asks the school staff if you are the sort of woman being permitted into the academy these days, and they end up having to apologize for you saying that in other ways you're a valuable student.

As for how he knows if she's being raised right, he says he ruddy well hopes she is, considering the reputation the school is supposed to have, and the money being afforded to both her and the academy by the crown. Your question only serves to embarrass Nera who again has to apologize, and defend herself and her methods not only to the older noble fellow but also the male staff member who may have reason to doubt her. Among the things she has to speak of is the proper ethics and behavior instilled in the female students by herself and her predecessors.

Whether intentional or not, by your persistence and questioning, the schools now on the stand by the concerned noble fellow, it seems.
>>
>>639680
(I can feel my aggravation levels maxing out. No point though. He's really stuck in his ways)

Anyways OP how much of an effect will the scars have on our ability to get married.
>>
>>639726
Depends who you're getting married to really. Admittedly the scars are quite bad, but they're not in any incriminating way like a slave brand (now covered) or a criminal brand. The good news is they're pretty exclusively on your body rather than your face, so a potential husband wouldn't have to worry about showing you off or being seen with you, when you'd be wearing a dress or something akin so the scars wouldn't be obvious.

So mainly it would come down to if the guy either loves you enough to overlook the scars, or you present a valuable enough match, that he can overlook them. You might be hard pressed to find either sort of man, but it's certainly not impossible. Something to consider though that if the marriage is an economic/not-love/whatever based, the man will probably be concerned about his reputation. As such you can probably expect complications, like him worrying about your scars being seen or known be people, that they might think him abusive of you. Or like, him worrying about having servants to attend you closely in things like helping you get dressed or washing you, since they would see the scars which would normally be secret, and they could spread rumors or gossip. Basically weird little concerns or situations that could make things difficult, would be considered.

Really though overall, your attitude would make marriage harder for you than the scars would.
>>
>>639783
You mean the
"I'm not helpless damnit."
Attitude?

Ok I officially plan to have Maggie wander Almace for a year helping people.

>>
>>639783
Tell him
>I have plans of becoming a Proper Lady, right now i have a relationship with a Merchants son, my silk business will eventually be passed onto him and im here to learn to read and do math so i can help him with the business

Hopefully this will change his mind about us
>>
>>639830
Anon are you annoyed?
I'm annoyed.
Part of me would rather learn from the Marquis wizard.

He took us semi seriously.
>>
>>639726
Also something to point out, but just because he's not willing to transfer guardianship over to you, doesn't mean he won't transfer it at all.

Like you might be able to just get some ideal couple or parents to present the case, he transfers guardianship to them, and then they just transfer it to you, or you just have them to take care of Lisbeth.

All you would need is people you can trust who are married and are presentable, or whom you can impress upon to get married for Lisbeth's sake. Like having Julien marry some girl and play it up to Lisbeth's guardian.

>>639830
This certainly appeals to him and gives you a better case, but he says once you cross that bridge, then he'll consider it.

>>639815
Yeah, that attitude. Most, the vast majority of men, at least in Almace, are going to want a traditional and supportive wife, rather than a capable and independent one.

ALSO I realize now but it should have been obvious, most guys aren't going to be too keen on you being magical, and basically no guys are going to be ok with your beastly heritage (if they know or find out). Not many guys are going to want their potential children to be magical, and pretty much none of them are going to want them to be a quarter dragon.

As for your plan, what about your commitment to the school? The royal mage of the Marquis wasn't that great of a wizard at all really, you've already surpassed him probably.

>>639860
The academy and the staff certainly take you seriously. Not all of them, but generally they're of the sort to see you for your magical skill first.
>>
>>639875
Is Astrea married already? She was in Rea because she was going to get married or something right ?
>>
>>639895
You wouldn't know that, but that is why she was sent to Rea. She might be married now, have suitors, or still adjusting to the court there.

Obligations to Almace, acceptable social and gender roles, and to a good man to be his model wife.

If they're upstanding folk, can provide adequate care for her, and will raise her properly, then he'd certainly consider it.

Do you know any such people though?

No.

Because if someone with as much power doesn't have to help people.
Why should anyone else?
>>
>>639976
Or if Astrea's not married yet ask Julien and Aea to pose as a Couple
>>

These things don't go together.

Holy Shit Anon

You're going to deep, i can almost see Adele there with you
>>
>>639976
That idea is very appealing to him, though he doesn't believe Rea is close enough to the capitol to provide adequate guardianship for Lisbeth. However, if what you say is true and they are willing, then he'd strongly consider it.

>>639980
They would actually need to be legally married though. In the process of transferring guardianship, it would be obvious if they were just faking a marriage.

>>639985
That too. Aea might be able to pose as a model mother, but you wouldn't rely on it.

>>639977
Why bother with anyone else! You should only think about you! Certainly that fits with your father.
>>
>>639995
>How long are you going to be on The Capitol? Ill send word to them as soon as possible so you can meet them while you're here

Then we shall die alone. Making nothing worthwhile.

We will make something.
We will make this world brighter. If only just a little.
>>
>>640057
Tell him well contact him when they arrive, thank him for his time, wave him goodbye and storm out of the room
>>
>>640093
And let's go visit that girl from Rea that lives nearby
>>
>>640093
Well it's actually on his authority to leave first since you requested him here. The staff guy and Nera thank him for coming, then once he's gone promptly turn on you, asking you various things like what were you thinking, and why do you have to go making trouble like that?

>>640114
You can do that after this, yes.

>>640063
Of course you can make something. A nice quiet settled down life for yourself and a family. You won't be alone, and you'll have made something worthwhile in your children. That's a woman's job!
>>
>>640162
Don't bother with Nera and the guy, let's leave and go with that girl
>>
>>640210
They're school staff, it's going to be a breach of student conduct if you just ignore them and walk out.

I mean you can, but are you sure? You could explain it later that you were upset and stormed out I suppose.
>>
>>640162
>Not ladylike
Everytime that's alluded to all it reminds me of is all my failures and disappointments and how I would be considered a monstrosity by most people. Men included. So everytime someone mentions being a normal proper girl. It feels like I'm being taunted. But you're right. I should learn to control myself better.

Also OP.

>Of course you can make something. A nice quiet settled down life for yourself and a family. You won't be alone, and you'll have made something worthwhile in your children. That's a woman's job!

That'll only be making something for us and our husband and our children at best. We'll help people. We'll be the hero we never had.
>>
>>640223
Say goodbye in the most rude way possible without breaching student conduct and then leave
>>
>>640236
Add to that.
>If I'm going to do what I plan to. There will be lot's of people that'll be like that. I just have to learn to move forward.
>>
>>640236
It's worth noting that's the trend you know of, for Almace. You could go to other places and be received differently. For example, in Aea's country you know you'd probably be able to find some lord ambitious enough to be totally fine with marrying you, or some knight who admires your bold attitude and want to help people. Alternatively, the country to the southeast, you know there are people there power hungry enough that they would jump at the chance to wed a half dragon, both for your own potential and for that of their children. And of course there's always the country to the north, where a man will wed you no matter what, if you've got the money. Lastly you imagine there are distant, heathen lands you could go, where they would worship you just for your dragon side and would consider marriage to you a religious duty, like marriage to a godly avatar.

Again, you shouldn't always look at the world entirely through an Almese lens.

>>640240
You abruptly and rudely depart to the staff's annoyance, but you don't wait around. Asking for a guard to escort you, you go on to the girl from Rea's place.

It's not too far, and a nice enough place. A little odd that she managed it, given her background and budget, but look at yourself. When you get there and make yourself known, she's delighted to see you and welcomes you in with open arms and a friendly hug. Normally the guard would to wait outside, bug given the short distance to the school, he asks if he can just go back?

At any rate she welcomes you in and offers you to sit, she just obtained a box of pastries that you simply must try! All the while she wants to know about your time apart, how you've been, things of that nature.

>What do you do?
>>
>>640343
Later.
Finish learning magic first.
The heathen lands can come next.

Also any lands that are at least somewhat less sexist than here?

Is there a magic school in seldan?
>>
>>640343
>Guard leaves
>Shes giving us some pastries as soon as we enter

This is pretty fookin fishy

Fuck it, let's eat some and tell her what we've been doing
>>
>>640356
We could always learn the language of that country that has strong independent women and start up something there
>>
>>640368
That's why I'm asking.
I don't know about such a country.

I really would go there though.
>>
>>640373
We should go there after we finish school and adopt Lisbeth
>>
>>640361
The guard didn't leave, he just wants to leave, he'd rather be back at the school. If you want him to stay though you can ask him to.

The pastries are just a coincidence, she was going to eat some herself.

At any rate though you eat some and have to agree, they are supremely delicious. You're more of a dairy girl yourself from growing up on a farm, cream, custard, curds, that sort of thing. These have fruit in them though which is strange to you but also a tasty new experience. All the while you talk about your time apart and how things have been going. She's amazed by all of it, and remarks about how far the two of you have come, from servant girls in the south, to independent women in the capitol! She's glad to find a friend in you here, and would love to spend the day with you if you've nothing important to do. Or you could stay here with her, help setup and decorate her new place, just have a lazy day in together.

>What do you do?

>>640356
As said in a previous thread, on this continent it's tough to say really. Probably the least sexist in the way you're used to it, would be in the direction of Aea's country, or to the southeast where if you have money or position you can get away with murder regardless of gender, perhaps literally if the stories are true.

Beyond this continent you can't really say. Perhaps the lands of the Orient are different? Or the lands of the crescent? There's also the New World of course, but that's practically untamed and lawless, so you could make whatever kind of life you wanted for yourself, if you had the strength to do so.

Of note that from what you know of the Selden Empire, sexism there is potentially much worse than Almace, but also much different. Women there are seen as naturally subservient to men, however married women are afforded much respect and depending on the husband can have the freedom to do much more and have much more an impact than in this continent. For example, a single woman owning a business here is considered tacky and many people wouldn't do business with here. In the Selden Empire though, it would be quite tolerated and admired if a respectable woman ran even a vast business. She would not only carry a lot of weight with that kind of reputation, but she would be considered a fine wife to any man, and only a fool would try to limit her freedom or potential.

>>640368
>>640373
Are you meaning Aea's country? It's not really that it has strong independent women, most fit the typical gender norms (though in that country they're quite different from Almace). The difference is that actual strong independent women wouldn't be stifled for the most part and thought of as quite capable and noble in her own way.

That's not to say a woman could like, carve out a chunk of land for herself and govern over it and lead an army to exert her will, but she would certainly be free to pursue most any life she wanted if it was a personal thing.
>>
>>640461
Can we make a spell to prevent someone from casting and magic items from using magic?

We're making a few new spells if I can.

Also let's help her around the house. Tell her about our desire to wander the lands helping people.
>>
>>640461
That Selden Empire sounds mighty nice, I'd like to move our whole business over there but i feel like it would be dangerous

Anyways, let's help her and spend the rest of the day with her and ask about Astrea's marriage situation
>>
>>640490
It depends what you're trying to do with that, like if it's to counter magic, or actually a null magic field.

>>640563
One of the main important differences to keep in mind though, is that the Selden Empire and that region follow a different religion. Not only would Maggy have personal issues with that, but she could face persecution if it's found out she wasn't of that faith. Again, there's pros and cons everywhere.

---

Anyway, you decide to hang out for the day with her, a nice time with a friend from a former common place. Even though it wasn't that long ago, you share memories and remember similar experiences and stories of living in the same place together. This includes Astrea's situation, which she says there have been several suitors sweet on her, but nothing yet to come of it. For some reason no men have gotten *too* close with her because of some bad vibes following her around.

While helping her decorate and set up her new home, you also talk about your want to wander around, which she says is quite brave of you and thinks it would be hard, but she wishes you luck and believes you could manage if you tried. If you ever need help achieving that goal as well, she'd want to help out however she could.

So the day whiles away, as you have lunch and dinner together, and it's a really welcome rest from a lot of business as of late. In the evening you sit together by the fire as you read her the letters from Rea to and fro, and she shares some similar things with you. You know you've got classes tomorrow and lament it after such nice time here, particularly when you start to get drowsy and she offers you to stay with her for the night if you want. You suppose you could, but it would make getting to class and keeping up with everyone else a little difficult, a morning rush essentially.

>What do you do?
>>
>>640855
It's more like a spell to block something off from interacting with the aether.

Does that count as a null magic field?

Also we should head back to school grounds sadly.
>>
>>640898
This and tell her how to find us if she needs anything
>>
>>640907
Anon we should ask for personal time to visit Rea.

Sounds like Astrea is having issues again.
It might be magic entities again.
>>
>>640989
Hmmm, im not sure about going but whatever it is we van take em, im down for visiting Astrea
>>
>>640898
Not all magic is aether related, though the vast majority of it is. In this case it wouldn't be a null magic field, just sort of like a firewall against aether. It's too advanced for where you're at, though you could always magic weave it.

At any rate you decide to head back to the school for the night, worth it more than all the potential hassle in the morning. In trying to make it to your room though, you aren't able to avoid a stern talking to by Nera, who lectures you about the difficulties with Lisbeth's guardian and the trouble it could cause, or could have caused. Part of you feels she's right, but you can't get over your annoyance on the matter.

Before you turn in for the night, your thoughts drift back to Rea and your friend there. You wonder what the school policy is on time off or vacations.

Another week of classes! Work out a rough plan of what you'd like to do, both in and out of class. If you didn't have anything particular in mind, feel free to roll for happenings.

I got lightning daggers(should we really just become an armory of magic weapons?)

A sort of dragon aura cloak that covers our body and stuff.
There is still transmutation.

I can't think of anything else.

Oh and maybe an invisibility spell.

Why not Magic Sword and Shield with Magic Armor, ir that's possible we would be pretty overpowered

Maybe magic lightning sword with magic shield(like shield of wrath from shield hero) and magic aura cloak for armor.(that looks cool ya know with horns on our cloaks head and claws.)

A productive week of classes though quite busy, between everything you try to manage already. Of note that a few of the teachers ask you to give a demonstration to some students from each student body, so two. They're trying to show how quickly magic can be learned but at the cost of control, which you are a perfect example of. Not that they're trying to use you as a negative example, or that they think you are dangerous, they just want to show how someone can learn a spell but without practicing it can end up not performing correctly, and in your case it can actually be shown in a demonstration since you can learn a spell and cast it just as easily as you can read or say it. By contrast, normally this same process for most would take at least several months to a year. The demonstrations go well at any rate and you're thanked by the teachers, though you do get a lot of attention from the male portion of the student body who before this you'd barely any exposure to. The reactions are mixed, ranging from impressed and interested, to dismissive and annoyed. In particular you're made aware of the fellow who's tarrasque-descended and before was looked to as the eminent student of magic in the academy.

Otherwise though things progress as usual, between classes, reading, learning to dance, trying to get fit, and usual responsibilities beyond the school like supplying Aea with ingredients. During the last couple of days, you figure to ask around, and come to talk with Nera about time off to go to Rea for personal matters. She lets you know that technically a student can take as much time off as they need whenever, and indeed some students (mostly older ones) don't actually attend classes, either taking a break to advance their own personal interests or having completed the expected curriculum and staying to learn more advanced topics through personal study. And of course some students sometimes skip a day or more, particularly in the case of the nobles, who tend to have more important matters now and again.

So while you're free to take time off to go to Rea, as long as you provide a travel itinerary you're free to go. The only thing is, they don't hold up the progression of the curriculum and teaching for students who are absent, so it may end up being that your classes move on without you and you have to pursue some other means to catch up again. And of course, if you don't succeed in the yearly examinations then you don't advance. Her recommendation would be if you want to go, wait till the winter recess when there aren't standard classes for a month. You remember how the academy year schedule works from this, three months of standard classes, then a month recess.

>At any rate you've got the last day of classes for this week, and then the two days of nothing, so what do you want to do?
>>
>>642562
Also just a little heads up but I'll be on campus for awhile. I should be able to post still, but it will be at a slower rate than when I'm normally available.

If someone wants to take over as usual, or fanfic it up that's cool, or we can try at the slower pace.
>>
>>642562
Nope we have to go.
Ask our friends to keep notes in all the standard subjects if they can.

Tell the headmistress we have to head to Rea to do important things.

A couple weeks or so.

Oh and buy a cloak with a hood.
And leather armor if we don't have it.

And tell Aea about our journey.
>>
>>642648
Unfortunately the matters can't wait, and you say you may need to miss classes for it, which is fine but could be difficult for you in the long run. To try and mitigate that, you ask fellow classmates to take notes for you while you're gone.

As for preparations, you can buy those things, but do you want leather armor if you can have your clothes enchanted to be better? Same with Aea, do you want her to come with you, or any of your other hired help? I'm guessing you'll want a carriage for transport as well, unless you've got something else on your mind.

Lastly, over the course of the last week, you've developed a distinct loss of apetite. It wouldn't seem to be any sort of typical cause like a sickness, you've just really no appetite. Every time you try to eat something it's just terrible and can only remember back to the last delicious meal you ate, with the fellow woman from Rea. So far it's only been a week, and you've tried to stomach a bare minimum that you're not starving to death, but you've definitely lost some weight and look malnourished. The effects if it too, namely a lack of energy and motivation.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>642725
Visit the woman from Rea.
This is like that crap from SAO abridged.

Also bring Aea along.
And she can treat the cloak and leather.
But the leather will be easier to fight in.
>>
>>642737
The next day after class, you go to see the Rea lady. She's happy as ever to see you, again greeting you closely and asking if you're here to stay long. That's all well and good but you really can't take your mind off her cooking, now that you can smell it.

>What do you do?

As for protection on the journey, you talk about not fighting well in say, a cloak, but she can enchant your clothes instead if you want. Nothings going to be easier than figthing in your clothes, of course.
>>
>>642796
Well if the clothes mean.
>Shirt
>Pants
>Silk underclothes
That's fine.

Anyways.
Ask what she puts in her food and if she put anything strange in it.
Ask if we can have some.
And tell Aea about our sense of taste and how it's messed up.
>>
>>642805
You kind of ditched the silk undersuit but otherwise yeah your basic clothes can be enchanted to be protective. Even just your underwear can be at least as good as say, leather armor.

At any rate you talk with the lady, she says she doesn't put anything into her food but love and care, and if you want some she says she can certainly give it but that's not exactly something you can take with you. She offers some of the food she's making if you want that though, or to take it with you.
>>
>>642850
Yes we need to eat some and pack some more up to take with us.
After we do eat chat a bit.
Thank her.
And leave.
(We have to get this checked by dragon lady. And the school)
>>
>>642860
When you say have it checked out, do you mean like, you take the food to the respective parties for them to check out?

In the meantime though you stay for awhile to talk, as well as eat. It's almost debilitating how good the food tastes, though that could just be since you haven't eaten in so long. One way or the other though, she's kind of half-surprised half-amused and tells you don't eat too quickly or else you'll get sick. You can't help it though as you more or less inhale the stuff.

At least that's a proper meal in awhile though, and you feel much better for it. A little sleepy too, but that's expected, and not enough that you're at risk of dozing off or anything. You'd like to though, for sure.

>What do you do?
>>
>>642944
Yes.
Dragon missus first.
If it's not the food we can attribute it to our sense of taste and can ask for her help.
>>
>>642967
That's fine. You ask for a guard escort to get into the menagerie, and as usual go about the process to get in to see the dragon. She's there waiting for you and asks if you thought about what she said last time?

You though ask her about the food, she smells it from where she's sitting and says it smells fine to her. When she tastes it though she quite quickly spits it out and asks why you're trying to give her food that's been tampered with?
>>
>>642991
>Tampered with?
>I came to you because I was worried about that. After someone gave it to me after eating this anything else I ate tasted inedible.
>Any idea why?
>>
>>642999
She can't say why it's been tampered with or for what purpose. It's definitely not poisoned though, or dangerously tampered with. She just can tell it's been spat in by someone, and thinks it's gross and doesn't want to eat it for that reason.

Out of curioisty you ask her how she knows what spit tastes like to that extent, she says you should try kissing someone sometime which embarrasses you.

>What do you do?
>>
>>643050
>Spat in...wait a minute... don't tell me it's magic spit... disgusting. And also explains why my taste is off. Anyways thanks for the help again. Love you.

And give her a hug.

Let's head back and interrogate Rea lady.
>>
>>643058
You're going to leave at that?

Double checking.
>>
>>643091
Tell her
>Well because of that spit I've been starving for the past few days. I couldn't really eat anything. It was awful. I think I should go settle this now. Oh and I'll be leaving the capital for a short while so I'll miss you.

Hug her. If she has any farewells to say let her. And leave.

We should deal with this ASAP
>>
>>643109
It makes sense that you'd want to handle this matter as quick as possible, but she's still annoyed you can tell and says as much, basically that you're tending to show up when you need something of her. You tell her you love her and hug her and she doesn't refuse it, but also doesn't reciprocate, proudly looking away and wishing you well on your trip. The only thing she says is to think about what she said if you already haven't, and to watch yourself, now that you're climbing the ladder so to speak.

Otherwise, you exit her room to meet with the guard again to take you back, hearing his amazement over the mermaid he went and saw.

---

Back at Rea lady's house, she surprised to see you again so soon. You ask her what's on your mind, she says she has no idea what you're talking about, and is honestly a little offended that you would accuse her of something like that. Strangely, using your senses, she seems to be telling the truth, or at least personally believes what she's saying.

>What do you do?
>>
>>643174
>Well something magic is going on. Come with me I have an idea
Have her come with us to Aea.
And have Aea check her saliva for magic.
The food too.
And see if she can brew a potion to fix our sense of taste.
>>
>>643241
She accompanies you without issue to Aea's, whom you ask to check for magic of the sort. Aea without warning kisses her rather strongly, which she recoils from speechless, both of you turning a little red. Aea though tasting her mouth from it, tells you it's not magical. In checking the food though, she's not as quick as the dragon, but she similarly detects magic. This confuses the Rea lady, who doesn't know how her food is getting magic, or spit in it for that matter.

You ask Aea about a potion to remedy the problem, she says she can fix up a way around it if you keep drinking what she makes, but a proper fix she can't say until she knows the source or at least gets a fresh sample, so to speak.
>>
>>643280
>Ok so it's not her. That means something in her kitchen is spitting magic into her food. Why does all the weird stuff happen to me? Miss stay here with Aea. It seems a magic entity might be in your house. I'll head over to my school and see what they know. Aea if you can start making that potion it'd be great.

Let's head to our magic school and tell the headmistress about the situation. Ask of there's any information of any type of entity that does this.
>>
>>643318
Telling her the truth, she's quite alarmed at this news, and hopes the problem is dealt with. Aea throws her arm around the lady and pulls her close, saying she'll keep an eye on her in case anything happens. The lady herself looks at you in a plea of help, but you haven't time for that!

Making your way back to the school, it takes a little while to get to see Nera, but you tell her the situation and she takes it seriously, pointing you in the right direction. She takes you to a teacher who specializes in this sort of knowledge, whom you explain the situation to. He says it's not a lot of informaiton to go off, not enough really. One thing he says though is that he's quite certain it wouldn't be magic, in opposition to what Aea said. If it was magical, then you wouldn't have found the school's food distasteful. If he had to guess, the cause would be something which naturally has this sort of effect to its saliva, which could be several things, including but not limited to a witch, certain types of plants, any sort of favored animal of a god which would be into this sort of thing, vampires, trickster spirits or entities, and even some insects or other vermin. Again though, to be sure he'd need more information.

Well you go and get Rea lady, and while there Aea grabs your attention and says she realized only too late, that the food you gave her was the one you're already half eaten, so the magic she was detecting was your saliva actually.

At any rate you go back to the house and have Rea lady cook again, this time watching her the whole time. You realize at this point that before, you never actually watched her cook the food, and right away you can tell that not only is she not that great, but the stuff she can cook isn't even remotely close to the kind of fanciness of the food you were eating with her before. When she finally does finish it, you taste it and indeed it's awful. She reacts the same way in fact, and can't understand what happened and why her food isn't good anymore. Something you note is that she doesn't seem to realize that the food she's made now is any different from the food the times before, like she believes they're the same quality and look.

You go to the main room and putting in the effort to concentrate and use your advanced sense of smell, you take in deep smell for anything out of the ordinary that you haven't already sensed passively. You get a faint impression of something sickly sweet coming from upstairs that you didn't before, like withered flowers. Going upstairs with Rea lady close in tow, you make your way to the bedroom where the scent led and you do it again. Now the scent is much stronger and coming from a hatch to the attic. The scent is so strong in fact, that now all other smells are offensive and disgusting to you, even ones which normally would be pleasant. The same effect as is upon your taste.

You summon the aether bow, and make your way to the attic hatch. It's too high though, you're pretty short. It's a simple matter for Rea lady to get the ladder though, and you make your way up. The attic is quite small but very dark since there's no windows. In the dim light though among some furniture and other junk, you can make out what looks to be a coffin. The smell up here is so strong though, and pleasing, that it's actually overpowering and you're feeling a little dizzy. Enough that you can't exactly pinpoint the source.

It's a miserable experience, but you're able to make it back to the academy before you pass out. A little while later you awake with still the strongly unpleasant sense, but it's not so much that you're slipping out of consciousness over it. You inform Nera and the teacher what happened, all signs pointing to vampire. It's made clear that this is a pretty serious issue, but one for the authorities and they'll get in contact with a sheriff on the matter. The situation will be handled that way, though it doesn't do much in the way of making you feel better or your senses being corrected.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>644946
Ask them what can we do to make our senses go back to normal
>>
>>644962
Well you have to understand that this is a very rare case, so they're not that well equipped to be able to deal with it, at least not for good. Like with Aea, they can give you something to drink and maybe something to sniff for your nose, but you'll have to keep doing these things possibly indefinitely.

For a proper cure, they say the best guess is to go to the scripture, look at legends and stories about vampires. The teacher at some point will have taken the chance to do so while you're sorting things out, but all he can seem to find is dealing with the vampire responsible, similar to attempting to cure vampire influence.
>>
>>645060
We should prepare some Suns Grenades and give them to him, explain how to use them and go buy whatever it is we need to ease up the vamps influence

You look around for someplace that might sell something that could help. You think you find a place since it looks quite odd with an eclectic selection of wares. According to the vendor, a mummified bat should do the trick. It's a little gross but you're able to tie it up in a cloth and keep it in a bag for now.

>>645582
You go to tell Rea lady about what's going on and that she needs somewhere to stay, but when you reach Aea's you find that the woman has fallen deathly ill and is delirious. Aea says it happened only in the last hour or so, and is trying her best to help her out, but says there's not a lot she can do since it's a supernatural but non-magical sickness. Something like having severe to possibly lethal withdrawals from a drug, in this case the vampire's presence or something like that.

You ask Aea to go out with you after all the fiasco of the day. She's surprised but says she knows a neat little place, and before you go she has ready for you the potion to drink and spice to smell that will help with the horrible blight to your senses. She also says you're going to need something less formal to wear, and gives you some of her clothes to wear. They don't fit well but you can tighten up in places to help, and she says it doesn't matter much anyway.

After walking with her for awhile, you find yourself at a much lower grade establishment than the one you went to with Charles. Dirtier, more crowded, noisier, but also more lively, more interesting and more fun. The air has the haze and the noise of lots of people gathered in drinking, talking, singing and laughing, and a decidedly off-key and error-prone but catchy group of musicians. The place itself is not that well made either and the mugs aren't particularly clean, but the drinks are cheap, aren't watered down, and come fast. You also notice other things going on in other parts that isn't just drinking, like some lower quality gambling including a rat catching ring, and the occasional fight both official and actual. Everything is rather overwhelming to you and what you're used to, particularly with your enhanced senses, but pretty wild experience and after some time amidst it all you start to adjust. Your senses that is, Maggy personally is still very out of place. Aea seems right at home by contrast and even knows some people, and manages to clear a place for you and her to sit together on a bench with people cramped close either side of you. She asks your impression of the place, thinking she has to lean close and speak rather loud though you could have heard her fine (and selectively can listen around the place), while a serving girl in a rather loose and low shirt asks what'll it be? The place has both food and drink, though Aea says she doesn't come here for the food.

>What do you do?
>>
>>647193
>You don't have to shout I can hear you fine Aea.
>It's not used to this but it's nice.

You tell her she doesn't have to shout for you to hear her, but you actually have to talk as loud as she did for her to hear you.

That's actually debatable and would come down to rolls. You're a hardy country girl for sure, and probably have a much higher tolerance than the city folk here, even some of the guys. Even you know the stereotype though, that getting absolutely smashed drunk and having belching competitions and yodeling, is the national pastime of Aea's country. Even in this place, together you make a mean combo, but against?

Also just a small consideration that you did only just arrive. Do you want to get floored in the first ten minutes?

So you decide you don't care about pacing yourself, and feel like being competitive. You tell Aea you can handle anything she can, she asks if that's so, and you tell her you can handle her and more.

Some hoots and hollering are abound as people around you start noticing your bickering, and before long people are calling for a challenge. Aea doesn't seem to keen on it but when you don't back down, she becomes a lot more bold and cheery at finding out you're actually serious. Before long a space is cleared in the center of that room, as some tables are swiped off and dragged together, a bunch of seats being pulled.

You end up sitting next to Aea, but a bunch of other people join in and end up forming a small gathering around the joined tables, with many more clustered around to watch and cheer. Bets even start to be thrown, as the first drinks are brought around by a few attendees, and the barkeep makes clear the pretty simple rules before giving the go ahead.

The first round! Roll! I'll be rolling for all the other people, and see how things thin out.

She's still going strong though like you in the previous round, is starting to feel the effects. You and Aea are at a point now where even though it's a single winner competition, you've kind of agreed on a team against the soldiers. At least that's the idea, in practice you're both a little drunk now and messing around but having a lot of fun. Everyone else is too, even the spectators, and you are realizing a lot of people have bet money on you and her, individually of course.

The fifth round, this is what they use to floor the drunks. It hits everyone hard, but you moreso. Even the soldiers are having trouble now, one on the brink, and only one regular is left and way over the line. You and Aea are both fully drunk now, though she fares a bit better and you hang onto her for support. You're both quite jolly about it and having a great time but things are blurry and your senses are playing up as your control over them wanes. Now it's just you, Aea, and one of the soldiers, and you're all barely hanging onto the table and consciousness. You actually fare better than either Aea or the soldier though, and are barely lucid enough to keep yourself propped up at the round's end. Not that much really, at least not that you would know. You could try and spell weave something, but that could be disastrous in your drunk condition. For normal magic, the best you might have known was to try and water down the drinks or maybe temporarily burn the alcohol in your body for energy. At that start that could have worked though, but by now you can't even string a sentence together, let alone perform a difficultly specific spell.

You wake up an unknown amount of time later to the most splitting headache you've had in your life. You're also really uncomfortable, as you look around and find yourself sandwiched between some people on a pretty big bed. You're still clothed to your relief, and look over to make out Aea and some guy asleep together. The other side, some girl laying back but awake, and you notice you've got an arm around her, probably when you were sleeping. She notices and whispers in a funny accent that she tried to keep an eye on you after you passed out, and when Aea went upstairs with the guy she brought you along with them so at least you'd be in a room and not messed with.

You thank her and she says it's fine. It was rather nice of her since she's quite beautiful and maybe only a little older than you, so she probably could have been anywhere she wanted tonight, besides having your drunk self trying to snuggle her in your sleep.

You try to wake up Aea though and she's having none of it, clearly trying to get some sleep. Eventually after enough of your pestering, the guy even pushes you over.

You ask about breakfast and getting up, the girl though says it's far too early for that, a late dinner would make more sense. You're confused but she says it's only been a few hours, it's the very early morning still. Apparently the place is still kind of active downstairs, though is definitely winding down and most will have gone home within the next hour or so.

No, you just woke up because you had to use the toilet (and still do). You still feel like shit, have a nightmarish hangover, and want to die. Going back to sleep to try and escape this pain would be a high priority for sure.

You could try a late dinner but you're not sure you could stomach it.

And go to the bathroom
>>
>>648105
There are kinds of magic which would be great for hangovers and drinking, but not the kind of magic you know.

There's a state of the art chamber pot! For privacy there's also a closet, if that matters to you. You groggily crawl over her and stumble to the floor, look around for the thing and take the chance to relieve yourself, either in the closet or not.

>>648107
She says she wouldn't know since she doesn't work there. She thinks plain water would help though, probably some bread too. Next to the bed she's got a small pitcher, as well as half a loaf of bread and some cheese. Not much to hold anyone over, but you suppose you could hold down a little of each.

Are you intent on going back to bed or not though? You bring it up and she says she has her own room a couple doors down, if you did want to get a proper rest in an unused bed, and not next to a pair of lovers with the smell of their union in the air. You don't have to sleep of course, but any conversation is going to be a chore in your condition.

"Ain't that were that magic school is?" Replied generic background character 2.

"See I knew it!" Yelled the first as he slammed his fist on the table.

Note that I'm making so many assumptions while I write this.

>In the Divine Realm is a God of flame. He sits and relaxes as he feels the flame. All flames. Each one feeling different based on size and intensity. Suddenly he notices a flame. A special flame
.

>This flame isn't particularly large. No. What's noticeable about it is the intensity. The purity.

>He gazes at this flame and sees it. A woman and in her hand a bow filled with aether and flame.

>He smiles.

"Interesting... this one is somewhat interesting."

>He thinks. He could make something like that bow. But making a copy would just not do. And besides... The woman interests him as well...
>>
>>648306
The fanfic activity is speculation, so I don't mind at all. I always said, I wouldn't mind if other players wanted to NPC characters, and interact with Maggy or the storyline and whatnot.
>>
>>648447
Well I just speculated that we drew a flame gods attention for making high tier fire.

We into fire well.

Would our bow burn a dragon btw?
>>
>>648454
Maybe a little. Only a demi-god and up would be outright resistant to it.
>>
>>648460
Nice.

And these are passive flames.
May evil taste our fire and be cleansed.

Can we use our magic to make a magic dragon aura thing?

Kinda like in the picture but with dragon wings and horns instead of tails.

Go for maximum fear.

So you drink an eat a little. It doesn't make you feel better but you hope it will. You also take the girl up on her offer, and she helps you out of the room, down the hall a little and into another room. It's similarly got a big bed, but she helps you get your outer clothes off and lays them on a chair, before helping you to bed. She sits with you for a little while holding and rubbing your hand while softly singing some lullaby in another language. It's quite helpful in your state, and you fall asleep pretty quick.

---

You awaken some time later in a cold sweat, still with a horrible hangover, but not feeling physically ill or mentally fatigued. You try to move but are a little alarmed to find the girl half-laying on you, with an arm and a leg draped over your body, and her head nestled on your shoulder and face buried in your neck like she was kissing you. She's also just in her underwear as well, like you, but she doesn't have a brassiere on. You don't remember or think you did anything with her, but figure while you were asleep she laid together with you and acted intimately towards you for her own interest.

It's obviously very embarrassing for you, but you're not really sure how to respond, and consider moving her but don't want to get into an awkward situation where you wake her up and then have to consider the situation with her.

>What do you do?
>>
>>648477
You might be able to manage something like that, sure. Though those things would come naturally to you if you mutated enough. If you just want it for some type of aura, well then any experienced enough mage could do that, and it wouldn't have to be a dragon either, it could be anything. Not even animal, if you wanted.
>>
>>648554
/u/
She's into the fairer sex.

I thought that might be possible.

>Stroke her hair.

>>

>>648610
She's already laying on us somewhat.
I don't want to wake her up yet.
>>
>>648622
LITERALLY WHATEVER YOU WANT

But I meant actually like having a big dragon head shape, or scary demon monster visage appear next to them and chase them around, or the illusion of an actual one nearby.

>>648572
Oh dear oh dear, you don't know how to feel about this. You're not attracted to other women, right? Well, you did have conflicted feelings towards Astrea but this is different!

You suppose though... it wouldn't kill you to stroke her hair a little. Like the rest of her, it's very beautiful and soft. It ends up actually making you feel bad for your own short hair, cut to give to Aea. The girl doesn't wake up from this though, or at least doesn't respond.
>>
>>648642
Well floating around inside a giant aura dragon sipping wine while chasing bandits sounds like a fun time.

Anyways seriously wake her up.
Gently though.
>>
>>648642
Whisper sweet nothings into her ear until she wakes up
>>
>>648658
>>648728
When she doesn't respond you figure to properly rouse her, using your free arm (she's laying on one) to try tap her awake, and whisper to her. It'd be a lot easier if you knew her name. Eventually she stirs a little and you feel her wrap her arm and leg around you more firmly, before she slowly leans up a bit and blinks a few times. She apologizes and says she must have dozed off for a little while, before resting her head on the pillow next to yours and asking how you feel, and what's on your mind.
>>
>>648742
>How do i feel?

Conflicted about how i feel towards girls

>Whats on my mind?

You

All of this while Blushing
>>
>>648742
>Well I don't want to die anymore so better.
>By the way who won?
>What's your name anyways?
(Fera)
Also she dozed off?
Bullshit.
>>
>>648782
She's a little confused at first by your response, but says those are some complicated feelings, and says she supposes you should do what makes you happy and what your heart tells you.

>>648803
That's good that you don't want to die anymore, she says. You find out that Aea won, though only barely. She lets you know her name is Fera. She also wonders why you would get into a drinking contest in the first place.

As for dozed off, she means while getting close with you. She doesn't try to pretend she ended up in this position because she was tired, she did it on purpose. She just fell asleep while doing it.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>648858
U fookin wot m8?

>But why tho? U like me or something?

While Blushing of course
>>
>>648858
>Wait is it tomorrow yet?
>I should check on Aea.
>>
>>648908
She says it's morning now, yes. As for Aea, she's probably downstairs having breakfast with other people who stayed overnight. Or she's still asleep, it is pretty early still. At least that's what she says, it seems like a fair guess. If you want to go check on her though, you'd probably want to get dressed. The girl though says don't bother, and wants you to stay.

>>648884
She couldn't say if she likes you, as in like a friend since she doesn't know you really, but she thinks you seem like a nice young lady and healthy at that, so what isn't there to like?
>>
>>648987
>Well I must get up and have breakfast.
>I have a some things to do today.
>Where would I meet you again?
We must go eat breakfast and tease Aea.
>>
>>648987
>>649006
This and ask her if she wants to come with us
>>
>>649006
She says that's fair, you probably would be hungry. She's curious about the things you have to do today, and wouldn't mind knowing. When you ask where to meet you again, she says she just got a new house not too far away, but if you want to meet again she's sure you'll find each other.

You move to get up and she lets you, as you move around the bed to get your clothes. As you try to get dressed though you feel move up against you from behind and wrap her arms around your belly and rest her chin on your shoulder. It tickles a little as you laugh and tell her to stop, but she does help you get dressed. Before you leave she stops you fast and says you've got something on you, which she leans close and kisses your neck one more time. It certainly catches you off guard as you turn red, and you stammer out asking her if she wants to come with you? She says she'd like to but she can't.

Either way you go downstairs with your splitting headache, looking around to eventually find Aea not entirely dressed and waiting for some food to be made. She notices you and wonders where you went and was worried.

>What do you do?
>>
>>649248
>Where we went.
Don't worry about it.
Where's that guy your were sleeping with?
Left already?

Let's tease Aea about it and wait for breakfast and a drink.
>>
>>649265
They guy she was with, the soldier from the drinking contest? She says he's still upstairs and she's going back up to rejoin him once she gets some breakfast to take with her.

You try to tease her about it but she could not care less if she tried, and actually turns it on you, saying she might have slept with him but you were sleeping with the both of them, and before that kept trying to kiss and hold onto the guy when you were drunk off your ass. Part of the reason she went with him, so he would leave you alone after you led him on.

Eventually she gets the food she asked for and takes it back upstairs with her, stopping before going up to tell you to watch yourself if you leave, it's kind of rough around the streets here. By the time you hear the door to her room shut upstairs and find somewhere to sit and work through this headache, some food is brought for you. It tastes absolutely repulsive, which is weird because the food last night was fine. You try smelling it and similarly are met with a foul scent, which you now start to notice from the place itself, everything around you and the air even. It seems the blight on your senses has returned.

Well.
Shit.

Im guess the girl from before is another Vamp or the vamps influence is coming back

She was saying some pretty weird stuff

Go to Aea and ask her if she saw the girl who we were speaking with yesterday during or before the contest, give her details of how she looked
>>
>>649448
You go upstairs to Aea's room and knock, you hear some murmuring and movement before she opens it a little, in a state of undress (and embarrassing you terribly) clearly annoyed and asking if you want a chance with the guy or something, sarcastically. You tell her about the situation with your senses, and the realization hits her, saying that the remedies she gave you probably wore of. That makes sense, since it's something you'd have to take every day. She doesn't have a potion for your taste, but she's got the spice box with her and gives it to you, saying later on when she returns to the shop she'll make you another.

And no you don't have classes today, it's the first day of the "weekend".

>>649465
Before she shuts the door you ask her one more thing about the girl in the room a few doors down. You describe her and she thinks for a minute, saying she doesn't remember much but seems to recall a girl like that being there yes. She was one of the people in the crowd watching and cheering the competition and making bets. After that she congratulated Aea on winning and sort of hung out for awhile, and acted to keep guys away from you when you were unconscious.
>>
>>649543
Let's go to the menagerie after breakfast if we can.
Visit the dragon missus then look at the mermaid.
>>

She's a foreign girl, she might not have a great grasp on Almese, or she just seems weird. Who knows, you could ask her she's still there.

>>649595
There's no after breakfast since you can't eat anything. Well like you're able to choke down some mashed up bread in water, you're able to quickly gulp it down and prevent yourself from puking.

You decide upon the menagerie, but it won't be open for about another hour or two. Anything you want to do in the meantime?
>>
>>649643
Let's head to the school.
Tell the headmistress if we can have a place to Make a spell.
Without causing property damage.
>>
>>649643
Oh and ask for a magic item to borrow.
>>
>>649668
This
>>
>>649668
>>649674
She says that's fine, but what magic item do you want? Also she says Rea lady's condition deteriorated and she was moved to an infirmary.
>>
>>649690
>Her condition deteriorated.
Oh my.

>What kind we want.
Ideally one that absorbs aether.
I want to try blocking it's flow to a person or object
>>
>>649698
That's something quite advanced, you can borrow it but not take it beyond the grounds and need to have supervision with it.

Eventually after seeing a few teachers and explaining what you want to do, you're given an aligned crystal for this purpose.

>What do you want to do?
>>
Rolled 17 (1d100)

>>649734
Well then let's find a suitable spot and do this.
And seal that crystal.
Ideally when we seal it it'll have a mark to indicate so.
And also let's not have it be permanent.
Else wise people will want us dead for sealing them.

(I assume I should roll?)
>>
>>649757

>>
>>649771
Make a spell to stop an item or person from interacting with our absorbing aether.

Cause fuck other mages(future magic chains)
>>
>>649782
I understood like half of that.
>>
>>649825
I'm sorry let me organize my incoherent thoughts.

>>641314
The firewall against aether part.

It prevents the entry or exit of aether so no aether reliant magic can be used.

Did that come out right?
>>
>>649845
Your own magic is aether reliant though. Unlike other mages yours comes from within, your own body, rather than fallen from heaven, but it's still the same kind of magic.
>>
>>649845
But doesn't that fuck us over too?
>>
>>649855
So we can't use aether magic to block other people's ability to use aether magic?
>>
>>649868
You can but you'll be hindering yourself a little.

Basically, your body is like an aether sponge, leeching it from the world. If you were to create an aether blocking zone around you and a natural mage, then you would both be cut off from the source.

This would screw the mage pretty bad since he couldn't cast magic at all after that, only magic items or like, magic familiars, could work. You on the other hand would still have the magic in your own body up to the point that you cast the spell, so you would be able to cast magic, but only a certain amount till you basically used up what was stored in your body.

Afterward though, when the spell ends or the area is left, the mage would once again be able to cast magic like normal, whereas your battery would be empty basically and need to recharge. This could make you vulnerable, but potentially more dangerous, could turn your body into an aether sink till it reached a normal level again, basically you would suddenly absorb any aether in the environment unintentionally and by force, which could have disastrous results.

Also note this would only work on aether magic, other kinds like blood magic would be unaffected.
>>
>>649941
>Disastrous results
Like what?
I'm curious now.
>>
>>649941
>Aether sink
>absorb any aether in the environment unintentionally and by force

I say we pass, sounds too risky
>>
>>649956
Normally you passively absorb it from the world, this would forcibly absorb it from the world. Anything magical would get utterly fucked up, and living magical things could die outright as you basically absorb their essence.

In effect you'd basically become your own personal null-magic field generator until your body returned to normal levels. This is why you should probably refrain from ever like, constantly using massive spells, because your body would keep drawing from the environment to fuel what you're burning through.

One of the reasons dragons tend to stay away from using really advanced magic, or using it often.

You're both dragons so the effect would be the same on each of you. Much more dramatic for her since she's a full dragon and larger. In fact if you both stood next to each other after this, she would prioritize and absorb aether from you as well as the environment.
>>
>>650082
The bigger boss in the room huh?
That's fair.

I assume dragons basically don't die from low aether?
>>
>>650107
No they wouldn't but they'd be awfully worn out, and if enough would lapse into a coma for some time.

You're barely a dragon though so it wouldn't be such an effect on you.

>>650159
Ok.
Also can we get an option for size change.
It goes from just covers and protects our skin(,plus the wings horns and claws) to.
It's a legit dragon made of magic?

And make sure we do this where we won't cause large amounts of property damage.
>>
>>650168
Why do I only get the scary high rolls when we magic weave?

Dafuq dice gods?
>>
>>650168
No that's too much for what you're capable of currently. You can manage just a basic personal one, the roll determining how strong.
>>
>>650187
Ok.
It'll still be pretty strong though at least.
>>
>>650195
What do you want it to be made of?
>>
>>650266
Well what are my options?

I want to make an informed decision.
>>
>>650277
Whatever you can think of really, fire, energy, air, just some sort of substance which you can form around you.
>>
>>650288
Well we've been riding with flames and fire pretty hard.

Plus ice is for those fags from the far frozen north.

Would we get any bonuses from having an air aura(flying?) Or say a lightning aura(move faster? Or something?)

If not I might just go with fire.
>>
>>650320
Also will our flame aura just indiscriminately burn everything?
>>
>>650320
Not really, what you make it out of will just be what it normally is. So air won't let you fly or anything, just make it an air aura.

>>650385
Yes, same if you made it out of electricity or whatever else.
>>
>>650404
So guess I'll go with fire.
I hope I don't burn everything.
>>
>>650440
If you're going with a similar theme to the bow you could do aether. Though keeping with the dragon side, fire does make sense.
>>
>>650452
Well our bow burns the shit out of everything.

The only reason I don't want aether is because it'd be purely defensive.
>>
>>650452
What would an aether aura look like?
Glowy and shit?
And I assume it would have good defense?
>>
>>650507
Same as the bow, a while gold glow.

It would be good against magic and would also melt anything that got to close more or less.
>>
>>650523
Ok then aether.
Locking in aether as the final choice.
>>
>>650526
And I'm guessing you want to go with the 96 rolled above?
>>
>>650523
Aether is the way to go then

Holy Shit that's shouldn't even be a question

Holy Shit, imagine going to war with an armor made of Aether we would be unstoppable, more or less
>>
>>650531
Yes.
96
This'll be an interesting show.
>>
>>650534
Well fire will burn things much faster, and set fire to things. Aether will just make them slowly fall apart basically, it would feel and look like burning but everything would dissolve slowly more or less.
>>
>>650570
Yeah so aether.
It gives us some passive damage and is good against magic.
>>
>>650168
>96

So, in an open area, you concentrate and focusing your magic, try to imagine what you want to have happen; the emergence of an aura formed entirely of pure aether. You remember a time from your early childhood, of you running to your father scared from a nightmare, and him lighting a candle to sit and hold you till you fell asleep again.

What follows is a sudden distortion of the courtyard in a visual way, as everything twists, contorts and undulates, and then a harmonic explosion of light and aria emanates from your body. You weren't even remotely prepared for this, as the searing brilliance floods your field of view and resonates to your very soul. Normally the act of magic weaving in such an intense way would cause your consciousness to slip, but this spell alone does the job, as everything goes white and you collapse in a seizure.

---

You awaken in an unfamiliar bed wearing a very plain cloth gown. Nera is there sitting beside you, talking with some other teachers. When they notice you're awake, they all take a step back and silence falls over the room. The strangest thing though, a completely alien experience to you, but as you look at them all you can see them in very much more detail, like colors you were never aware of are visible to you, as well as conventional light behaving in a completely different way and affecting your vision intensely.

The headmistress asks how you're feeling, but you can sense the others are uneasy, with a range of emotions from worry to curiosity to anticipation.

>What do you do?
>>
>>650673
>Let me guess it's my eyes this time isn't it?
>Explains why I can see colors that as far as I knew didn't even exist.
>Can I get something so I can see myself please?
>>
>>650673
Ask them why are they worried and tell them we can see what they're feeling

>I feel pretty normal actually, why?

And ask for a mirror
>>
>>650708
You say you feel alright and ask to see yourself, Nera goes to find a polished metal mirror for you.

>>650716
You ask them what's wrong and they tell you that your display was highly dangerous, witnessed by many, and burned a crater into the ground where you collapsed and the aura spell continued to work for several minutes even after you passed out. It seems roughly half want some sort of punishment action taken, while the other half are amazed and want to know and see more. There's obvious fear among them, but others are joyous since this is what they got into magic and teaching magic for. If it wasn't obvious, the teachers and staff in favor of your action, are your own teachers and responsible staff.

Nera returns and hands you the smooth metal mirror. You look at yourself and you look no different, although you do a double take when you realize you can see your aura about you. Not the spell, but your own personal aura, the pulsing one of your soul that is your magic signature. You look to the others in the room and can see the different kinds of swirling auras of them.

All the while they're arguing, but Nera asks for some peace and privacy for you, after the ordeal you went through. Grudgingly they oblige and slowly make their ways out, continuing their conversations and bickering outside which you continue to hear. Given the chance alone, Nera says that wasn't a very smart idea of you to have done, but she's glad you're ok and asks if you need anything, or if there's anything she can do for you?

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>650784
>No but I can see magic auras now apparently. Thought I should mention that.
>>
>>650796
She says that's quite strange, and you should probably keep it to yourself. All these things happening, lumping more on would just be complicated.

Another thing you notice sitting with her, but you can sort of tell what her temperature is, and start to notice it with other things. Not like full on thermal vision, but by looking you can sort of get a sense of the heat or cold of things.
>>
>>650873
Ask her where can we find the sheriff and then let's head over there, we need to see what's happened with the vamp

And we also need to check on that lady from Rea
>>
>>650873
>Good point. Though all the swirling auras seem different. I should record them among other things.

Let's try to stand up
We should get changed back into normal clothes after that we should go check that crater out.
>>
>>650873
Also ask if it's odd for a spell to be active while the user isn't focusing on it
>>
>>650902
You tell her this and try to stand up but have a difficult time at first, though she's glad to help you. As for your clothes, that's something she wanted to talk to you privately about. When you conjured the aura, it slowly but surely burned away your clothes, which ended up with those who didn't flee when the spell went off, to seeing you naked. She tried to cover you up once the aura faded, but you were definitely seen. This is a pretty big deal, and your reputation at the school has taken a hit for it, and she only hopes gossip doesn't spread about it among the students, considering some of the boys were ones to see you.

>>650920
She says that depends on the spell but it can be completely normal. Some spells are meant to be cast and then last all night while the person sleeps, or some are meant to be cast on something, and then left for even years at a time (like the enchantments on the bath house to heat the water, for example).

>>650898
She tells you where you can go, but she thinks you shouldn't stray too far in case some sort of decision process ends up happening among the staff where you're needed to testify and explain yourself.

>So do you want to go looking for the sheriff?
>>
>>650968
OP would clothes made from magic melt away?
At this point spell Weaving clothes may be a necessity now.
>>
>>650987
Aetherial clothes wouldn't melt away. Magically treated clothes though, in a special way, might be able to withstand the effect.
>>
>>650968
Lets wait, give them a few hours, if they don't decide on what to do with us let's ask Nera where was the girl from Rea taken to so we can visit her on our way to the Sheriff
>>
>>651002
Yeah and then we need to visit Aea so she can treat all our clothes against aetherial deterioration.

>Inb4 our aura is too strong and it burns away anyways.
>>
>>651011
What do you want to do for those few hours then?

>>651011
Well alchemically treated clothes might fare a little better, but actually magical clothes could do the trick. Like if you had some clothes which were magically made, to be unaffected by aether, then they'd be fine. Expensive as all holy hell though.
>>
>>651044
Would aetherial clothes have any benefits besides looking cool?

Let's get used to our new eyes.
Then rest.
We should probably rest.
>>
>>651044
>>651069
This but hang out with our friends a lil bit before resting
>>
>>651069
Solid aether is like a lightsaber basically. If you were wearing clothes made of it, if you bodychecked someone you'd cut/pass right through them.
>>
>>651079
>if you bodychecked someone you'd cut/pass right through them.

Keking to the edge of the solar system.

I know what we're making next.

(Also Aether sword is a must. Lightsaber for life.)
>>
>>651069
>>651074
You decide to pass a few hours back in the women's domicile before going out, just in case some sort of ruling is passed. Nera fetches you some clothes of yours and escorts you back, where you head to your room to figure things out. It's worth noting that unlike the development with your ears, this new one with your eyes isn't painful or uncomfortable, it's just really strange and will definitely take some getting used to. It won't hinder your ability to function though, it might just be overwhelming for a few days as you come to understand it.

At your room, Maeyal, Lisbeth and Vela make themselves known overtime and come to see you. Maeyal first checks on you to see how you're doing, and stays to talk about what happened. Lisbeth runs in after finding out you're there, hugging you and crying since she was afraid you were hurt. Vela finally comes in laughing and complimenting you over the impressive show, and sticking it in everyone's faces. She does inform you on a more serious note though, that the other noble girls, Jane and Eliza, lost a lot of respect for you, and don't care to associate with you anymore. Well Jane never liked you, but Eliza, well you can probably guess that means no more dance lessons.

Otherwise though the girls there spend the time with you and talk, ask questions, want to know things about not only you and the spell, but also about that woman who was brought in and then sent out this morning, the sick one. If you had any responses or questions for them, you could ask, and then you'll try to get some sleep, asking Maeyal to wake you in say, two hours time?

>What do you do?
>>
>>651161
Can Lisbeth cuddle with us while we sleep? poor thing must be worried sick about us

Also let tell her about the situation of her adoption before we doze off
>>
>>651161
>The Spell
It's basically a aura made from solid aether.
It should be noted that solid aether seems to destroy everything but the user and other things made with magic or solid aether.

>The woman ho was brought in.
A vampire was in her home and I found it. It was awful.
>>
>>651161
Also, what would happen to Lisbeth if her Guardian mysteriously died?

Would she be kicked out of school and be open to adoption or?
>>
>>651210
You try explaining the spell, though only Vela is able to make sense of it. She tells you though that doesn't make sense, that solid aether definitely *would* harm the user. That's why people don't try messing with it. That, and the other reason of course.

The talk of a vampire is quite scary to them, or least Lisbeth. Vela isn't too familiar with them and only knows they're bad, and Maeyal has no idea what they are, as they don't exist in her culture or that part of the world.

>>651206
Yeah that's possible, and she's more than willing. Vela wishes you well, and were it not for the present company she'd congratulate you for the feat you managed last night. She doesn't say any more than this though. Maeyal also makes a tea for you, and gives you the room to sleep. Lisbeth though stays, and is happy for it. The news that adopting her isn't possible by you though does sadden her, but some small hope that another couple or family might.

>>651241
If he died, the crown would request some other noble who volunteers the same service. Lisbeth is in the sponsorship program, so overall the crown is responsible for her situation, if she doesn't have a guardian.
>>
>>651282
>Solid Aether would harm the user.
It doesn't hurt me.
My bow is also made from solid aether.
It doesn't hurt at all.
Burns everything else though.

(Also what's the other reason?)

OP will teachers flip their collective shit when we tell them we can effectively touch and weild solid aether?
>>
>>651282
Is the crown located here? Maybe we can talk to the king/queen/both about adopting Lisbeth
>>
>>651320
The royal court is in the city, but good luck getting a chance to speak to the king or queen of the entire country, as little better than a peasant.

>>651297
Vela doesn't stay long enough for you to find out the other reason.

As for the teachers, they know since they saw you using the bow for target practice. You remember them being impressed but they didn't flip their shit, for whatever reason. You assume they know why you were able to handle it, you you weren't ever told anything about that.

---

The time passes and Maeyal wakes you up, Lisbeth getting up too. She informs you that the headmistress wants to speak with you, if you are to be heading out, and that she's waiting for you downstairs.

Lisbeth hugs you and says she's glad her prayers were answered, for your safety. She asks if you want to take a doll with you to help you feel better just in case.

>What do you want to do, assuming after you've seen Nera?
>>
>>651365
Well let's finally go to the menagerie.
Talk to dragon missus and actually have pleasant conversation.
>>
>>651365

Later.
>>651378
When you come back we'll have aether clothes and a lightsaber.
>>
>>651382
Why not both?

First Rea lady, second dragon missus and last Sheriff
>>
>>651378
You head downstairs and see Nera, where she sits down with you to talk about the aura spell situation. She says the staff deliberated, some even called for your expulsion, but your teachers spoke in your defense and she spoke well of your character, so they finally excused it. However, they decided that you aren't to perform your wild magic again without direct supervision and study, for them to decide if it is acceptable what you want to do. Secondly, you'll be suspended from normal magic classes for awhile, so that they can monitor and direct your study through personal instruction by a teacher. Basically she tells you it'll be like one on one tutoring and a lot of reading, so they can teach you in a stricter manner. Lastly, she personally thinks it would be best for you, if you kept out of any trouble for some time to give things a chance to cool down. First the fiasco with Lisbeth's guardian, then the vampire, and now this, you've brought some significant trouble to the school so you'd do well to keep your nose clean for the time being. At least until you're not under the magnifying glass. She also recommends you not spend much time out on the grounds in your free time, try to stay away from the male students so you don't give them a reason to bring up or continue to spread rumors and gossip about you.

>Cont.
>>
>>651434
Well I guess we're not leaving the grounds.
Guess we'll just chill in the library and crack open some math and literature books.
>>
>>651434
>try to stay away from the male students so you don't give them a reason to bring up or continue to spread rumors and gossip about you

I don't get this to be honest, we did some bomb ass magic and we ended up naked and unconscious, big deal, they'll eventually bed their wife its not like they'll never see a woman naked in front of them

If it's because of the vamp, it's not our fault we found a vamp randomly

The only real thing that's gossip material is the Lisbeth's guardian thing

Fucking Medieval Ages

Now im going to bed for real
>>
>>651441
No you can leave the grounds, they just don't want you bringing trouble back to it. Particularly when you let Nera know that you need the help of Aea for dealing with your blighted senses.

---

At any rate with a guard escort, you are led to an infirmary not far from the school. You ask around and the guard helps you get listened to, eventually you're led to Rea lady. Her condition worsened at the school overnight to where she lapsed into a coma, and such is her state now, non-responsive and unconscious. The infirmary workers say they can keep her alive, but they're not prepared to treat her, and in some days time she'll be moved to a church to see if a priest or higher ordained clergy member can try to help her. It's honestly depressing to see, since only yesterday she was so happy and lively, now reduced to this sorry state. It brings tears to your eyes as you cry and hug her, wishing you could magic away her problems, your own problems, all these vampire problems.

After that it's onto the menagerie, to see the dragon again.

>You'll go through the same process again to reach her, which is becoming commonplace enough that the guards there are used to it. What do you want to do when you get there to her though?
>>
>>651464
Well we can finally just have a nice calm conversation.

We should just talk.
Ask about her experiences.
Talk about ours.
>>
>>651458
>they'll eventually bed their wife its not like they'll never see a woman naked in front of them

It's not the young boys she's concerned about, and it's not uncommon that they try to peeping tom on female staff or students in the bath building, or the women's house. They can gossip among themselves about a pair of boobies till the cows come home and not bother anyone.

No, she's concerned about the older and adult male students, whom can actually damage your reputation and chances here. Plenty of them are nobles, and out of spite for your advanced magic, disapproval for you being a woman and at the school, or even just dislike for your lower class, they could send the word along to their parents or other nobles, and word could reach the right ears that the new peasant girl casts dangerous magic and parades herself about the school nude. They're connected, and can cause problems for you, as far as you even remaining at the school. She already expects those problems from Jane and Eliza, so you don't need more from the boys.
>>
>>651478
So it's basically just salt.
When in doubt. It's salt.
All this sodium is unhealthy.
>>
>>651468
She's there as usual, sitting more comfortably since they brought her a new bunch of carpets, pillows and cushions from the Selden Empire, which she likes very much.

You can converse normally with her, but anything in particular you want to know of hers, or just anything in particular you want to talk to or ask her about? Talking about your experiences since last you met is easy, since so much happened.
>>
>>651498
Well one thing you've heard whispers of, but Mr. Tarrasque-descended has been wanting to challenge you to a magic duel. The only reason he hasn't is because it's unheard of for students of different genders to do such a thing, so he's been wanting to or trying to find a way to do it in secret.
>>
>>651507
>He wants to duel us.
He can bring it.
I ain't scared.
Though I like that instead of going at the school with salt he would rather duel us directly. Respect for that.
>>651503
Let's ask her about her younger years when she was still a kid.
>>
>>651513
You ask her about her youth, which she responds to with a hollow chuckle, wondering why you'd want to know about an old girl like her. From what you can discern based on your limited history knowledge you've picked up in the last couple of months at school, she describes the world when she was a hatchling of over a thousand years ago, since she talks about encountering and befriending an officer of a legion of the old Alsan Empire when she was very young. Through him and the Empire she came to learn and become familiar with the common races, and civilization, whereas before she'd lived in the wilds as was expected and lived separated of commoners unless crossing their paths by accident. Maintaining a loose familiarity and sometimes cooperation with various persons of the Empire, she saw many experiences of different kinds, and had many herself. This was the duration of her adolescence, by which time of reaching adulthood, the Empire was collapsing and she went into slumber.

This is obviously surprising to hear and learn, and you ask her if dragons normally live that long. She says for sure no, they usually tend to only live a few centuries, however when they go into slumber they sort of enter a hibernative state where their aging slows to a halt or at least effectively so. In this way despite herself hatching over a thousand years ago, she's probably only actively lived about 250 years, around that amount. She lets you know that's old for a dragon though, and the next few decades will mark the coming of her twilight years.

She could go into more specific detail about her youth if you cared, but there's obviously many other potential topics. You do notice though a sense of nostalgia, even happiness at remembering the times past, that even she can't hide despite her outward claim that such topics are beneath her.
>>
>>651578
>Encountering and befriending an of the legion.
That sounds interesting.
What was it like.
And what was he like?

This is interesting.
>>
>>651914
So she befriended an officer of the legion.

And had many experiences of different kinds?
Like what?

I've just unwittingly realized my build of
>Aether clothes
>Aether aura
>Lightsaber
>Aether shield maybe?

Is basically an untouchable build.
Solid Aether would fuck up magic defenses and normal matter would get cut through like butter.

Holy shit that's overpowered.

Now I'm scared of how OP might balance it.
>>
>>655401
Can anything even balance us out? Nothing can get near us before melting and If our sword/bow touches anything it gets instantly dissolved
>>
>>655498
>Inb4 OP brings out a lich lord for us to deal with.
That'd be fun though.
I want monsters and enemies to have battles with.
>>
Sorry I was gone all day, was unexpectedly busy. Will continue though in a little bit.

>>655401
Someone could still shoot you in the head and even with those defenses you'd be dead.

Also again, remember that there are other kinds of magic, which are unrelated to aether. You could have all those defenses, and a blood mage could snap their fingers and cause a heart attack in you.
>>
>>655532
We'll probably make quite a few enemies when we fuck up our previous Mistress, that should be enough

Right?
>>
>>655669
>Not wanting to face a legion of skellingtons with a lightsaber and glowing clothes.
>>655664
Are there defenses against blood magic?
>>
>>655697
Bruh, it's blood magic, i dont think we can stop a blood mage from doing shit to us
>>
>>655697
Blood magic is very hard to defend against unless you also know blood magic, to stop it.

Though it's quite hard to do or effect someone in the first place. I say before it could cause a heart attack in someone, but the mage would have to be familiar with their blood first.
>>
>>655704
I am pleased that we can finally have a relaxing conversation with the dragon missus.
>>655721
OP how many years until we can learn master spells?

I'm getting tired of staying in the capital.
The wanderlust calls.
>>
>>655721
Hey OP i have a question

By fanficing it up can i make NPC's do and undo things?
>>
>>655756
>OP how many years until we can learn master spells?
You could try to start learning them now honestly, though the results could be disastrous. Currently you're in the common magic level, but by the time you are expected to finish schooling at the academy you'd have learned everything up to master level spells, which students at that point are encouraged to go learn about on their own, or are welcome to stay at the school to pursue that knowledge.

>>655764
Of course, that was always one of the things I wanted to see happen.

And if the fanfic happening doesn't suit the plot, I won't retcon it completely anyway, and you'd still receive the benefit for it. But you'd have to try hard to do something which doesn't suit the plot.
>>
>>655861
Hmmmmm, i might fanficing Fera then
>>
>>655861
How long are we expected to be at the academy?

And how do we make master level spells anyways?
For us it'd be weave that probably.

So I assume magic Weaving is affected by our level of Magic knowledge.

When we're done with this can we settle into a routine and time skip again?
>>
>>651914
She says it was a rigorous life but an enlightening one, it really helped her to understand struggles of the common races. As for the officer, he was one of the best men she ever knew, certainly the most tolerant, as he was the first commoner who didn't react hostile to her, and furthermore invited her along to live alongside commoners rather than in the wild.

You can see something pains her to talk about him though, for whatever reason.

>>655897
Sure that's totally possible. You can either just fanfic her, or like with Maggy, allow player input to her actions. I'd even participate in that way.

>>655917
It depends, and tends to vary with students, but you're ideally there as long as it takes to pass the exams all the way up to mastery of each subject, though women go two grades earlier since they're not expected to need to know that much. The average time for this process tends to be around 4-6 years, give or take.

As for master spells, you would perform them by learning them in a book or from a teacher, something like that. You'd learn them like any normal spell, they're just much more complicated and difficult, but with much greater effects.

And no, weaving is not the same as spell casting, you can't wave and imagine your spell to be a master level equivalent and it is. Normal spellcasting is reliant on magic knowledge, magic weaving is reliant on your own magic potential (in your case, how dragonic you are).

What sort of timeskip did you have in mind? Can't ever be more than a month, but in two weeks roughly is the ball for example.
>>
>>655956
Then I'd want to time skip to the ball.
But first ask why she sounds so troubled talking about him.
>>
>>655956
>>655980
This and
>Did you like him Wink wink nudge nudge , what happened to him?

Playfully, no need to anger her again
>>
>>651978
She says a whole range of experiences from happiness to sorrow, passion to anger, friendships and rivalries and even love. It wasn't that she just met a commoner in passing and that was that, she followed the legion around and returned with them to the Empire proper and lived in it for herself firsthand (or at least part of it), and she saw and lived some of its history. Sometimes she lived separately and interacted only at a distance, other times she was welcomed to live among.

You also happen to ask her about the officer that clearly upsets her. She says she doesn't want to talk about it, but will say only that at one time they shared a relationship, her first one at that. However in her very young age she misunderstood it, and what they both got out of it was different. She was in love with him but he wasn't with her, and the way in which she found out was heartbreaking and felt like a betrayal.

>>655980
>>656012
You can skip to the weekend of the ball sure. What do you want to do roughly, both in and out of the school and with whom, during the first and second week?

Also make two rolls, one for each week.
>>
>>656123
Keep an eye out for the Rea Girl and visit the Sheriff on the first weekend, and let's spend our free time with our friend, spend some extra time with Lisbeth
>>
Rolled 26, 52 = 78 (2d100)

>>656123
Hugs
This is obviously what you do.
>Well I hope you'll be somewhat pleased to know I've mutated again. It's my eyes this time. I can see auras among other things.
>>656195
And study some math.
And continue our exercise.
Look at her aura
>>
>>656195
You continue to check on Rea girl but her condition never improves, hopefully being moved to a church will help. As for the sheriff you meet him and ask about what happened with her house. He says they found a coffin in the attic, but no vampire or anything like that. Just in case, they watched for a couple days and nights after, and now occasionally check in every few days.

As for free time, you mean friends in general or one in particular? Lisbeth though is easy enough, she loves spending time with you even if she can't leave the grounds.

>>656216
You hug her which she reciprocates, and thanks you for talking about these things, though maybe next time not such an emotional subject. She is pleased to know you mutated though, and says you're one step closer to perfection. She looks forward to the day you can live together naturally. Taking the chance you look at her aura and see it pulse with her heartbeat, a slow tide of brilliance expanding and retracting from her massive form.

At any rate you try to focus on your math studies since it's probably your weakest subject. In the meantime when you can you continue to try to exercise and have been keeping to it, to where now you've started to notice a little (just a little) definition, and your endurance has definitely improved.
>>
>>656312
We need to go back to that house, were we certain that there was a vamp? Or did we just assume there was one because of the coffin
>>
>>656338
You don't really have a way of guaranteeing it was a vampire, but all signs pointed to it being so. The sheriff and helpers just didn't find one or see one during their stake out.

>lol
>>
>>656351
Well shit, let's go back to the house when we can
>>
>>656351
Well let's go and investigate.
And bring some smelling salts to help with the inevitable blight.
>>
>>656371
>>656373
Well one of the days you go back to Rea lady's house to check around, searching the places you went. You don't really pick up scents on anything, if anything was here it's been gone and hasn't returned for awhile now. It's a little alarming since you know that means there's a vampire most likely somewhere around and at large.

Also as you remembered, it's getting kind of annoying to have to rely on Aea for potions and spices every day to stave off the blight.
>>
>>656389
Let's head to a church.
Maybe they have someone to cure our blight.
>>
>>656401
This
>>
>>656401
You head to your nearest church, and ask for a way to fix your ailment. The lead priest says if you return tomorrow they'll have the proper preparations for a cleansing of vampire influence on you. It'll take that long since it's not exactly a normal or average request, so they have to dig around to find out, and find what they need.

So you've got at least a day till then, it being the weekend before the week leading till the ball.
>>
Rolled 51 (1d100)

>>
>>656542

Keeping check of your senses, you try to follow your nose. Unfortunately it's hard because the only smell you can associate with the vampire is the sickly sweet smell from the attic, and it's only really obvious when your smell is blighted. You try and follow that but you always lose it once you get outside the house and into the streets, where there's so much activity and traffic each day that after a week, there's nothing of the scent left.

It's a pretty frustrating experience to be sure, since normally your nose would get you through a situation like this pretty well.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>656587
Open the coffin.
Let's see if we can sniff their place of rest to get a trail.
>>
>>656614
The coffin isn't there anymore, the sheriff and his boys took it with them to have it sanctified and destroyed. So wherever the vamp is, they're staying someplace else. They might've even gotten themselves another coffin? That seems likely but unclear.
>>
>>656647
Well then let's just skip the ball.
The trails gone colder than those fag ice dragons from the north.

Well you sort of can dance but not well. Hopefully Charles knows how, you would at least be able to follow his lead.

You're not used to doing makeup since it was never readily available to you. Obtaining some wouldn't be hard, but do you want to try applying it yourself or having someone you know do it?
>>

No.
No makeup.
Might as well just go natural.
Can't wait to see who considers Charles a loser for not having a girl
>>
>>656746
We need a story Anon, we need to be prepared if someone asks how we met Charles
>>
>>656746
Well as long as you don't open your mouth it shouldn't be a problem.

So how you want to go about this, get the dress then go to his place, or? The only thing you know, you shouldn't put the dress on and then be walking the streets, it will get dirty.
>>
>>656775
Get the dress then meet Charles.
But don't wear it.
We'll get changed a bit later.
>>
>>656801
You get the dress and head to Charles' place. The maid lets you in, but he's ecstatic to see you and for the evening ahead, already dressed up. He even got a carriage to get there so you don't have to walk.

When you get the chance, you go to change into the dress, with the help of the maid. It's a surprisingly long process even with her help, since you've never worn anything like this. Also surprising is the corset, which is both painfully tight as well as restrictive of your movement. This corset thing is a new fashion trend, but you hope it doesn't catch on.

When you're fully dressed up, the maid takes you to the sitting room and presents you to Charles, who stands up in amazement and exclaims your magnificence, wishing he had a portrait of you like this that he would always remember the sight. He asks you to sit but you can't sit in this dress, not easily. So instead he talks to you and assumes the plan is you'll be going as a couple, though he wants to know what the idea is behind you two, what your situation together is. He can do most of the talking since your accent will give stuff away, but at some points you're not going to be together, and you'll be among the other ladies.

So you catch a carriage across town come evening, to a fancy estate. Along the way you see all sorts of celebrations for the Hallows Eve, like people burning effigies and dressed up all strangely. The place itself is quite nice and has a strong harvest theme going, decorated appropriately for the season. Charles holds out his arm for you to hang on, and escorts you into the premises. There's a good few people, but it's certainly not on the same scale as you'd expect from a noble ball, this is more middle class and rich folk. In a way you like it more though because it's still classy but not suffocatingly formal or proper. There's people laughing, eating and drinking, talking and otherwise hanging out in the equivalent 16th century casual manner.

The first order of business is to present yourself, as Charles shows you off to his peers. Roll for how you manage to put on a good face!

Well I couldn't find it, but basically that gif where it opens the door to the party of high schoolers, and they all slowly turn to look at the viewer with a mix of confusion, disgust, and a general feeling of "Oh no, what's this person doing here?"

You try to introduce yourself after Charles shows you to various people, but you get only feigned interest and sarcastic welcoming and interest. It seems some of the people here are pretty superficial, and judge you the moment they hear you actually work for income, or that you speak like you grew up on a farm.

You can't help but feel annoyed for being impotent to act in the situation, and having to just accept and smile through their reaction to you. Charles though after, didn't seem to notice or was aware of any of it, and thinks you did a great job and compliments you for the positive reactions, and thanks you for coming it was just what he needed.

So after getting the feel of the party, he asks you what you'd like to do until the proper celebrations start? The estate is open to guests for the most part to walk around and admire, and there's also a ton of seasonal food and drink. To be honest, you're spying the hell out of a pumpkin pie.

Well holy shit, Charles friends may not like you, but they never had a chance to hear you talk about yourself. In short order you've got a small crowd around you, enraptured with the stories you tell of living with goblins, adventures with a kobold, befriending a giant spider, and fighting a vampire. As is habit now you're generally careful enough (sober at least) to leave out important personal details like how you were disgraced and thrown out, or being half a dragon, but even with the basics the folks here love you. They certainly don't approve of your non-traditional lifestyle, and look down upon your lesser status, but all of that is totally eclipsed by their amazement and admiration for your will and courage in the face of the world. In this way you're like a quaint but entertaining and endearing anomaly, sort of like a character from a story of another age, made real in front of them. The ladies praise you maintaining your womanly side while living this sort of life, and the men all love your brashness, and you get more than a few bachelors looking for your hand later. Charles of course both proudly and jealously claims that you're spoken for.

Lastly, when the news comes that all the expected guests have arrived and the formalities are to start inside, you tell your gathered crowd of admirers that you've got a little trick for them you picked up from the royal mage in Rea. Trying to show off, you don't concentrate as well as you could, but you still unleash a wave of magic through the garden which makes everything sprout up and grow immensely, making the place suddenly look like a small forest grove. As a form of entertainment they're doubly amazed and cheer and clap for you, but the overgrown garden itself attracts many, to the point where the host has to postpone the main celebrations so that everyone can get a chance to check out the garden.

Charles friends were dismissive of you before, but now you've certainly caught their attention and interest.

Once everyone makes their way inside again, the formalities are begun as everyone is thanked for attending and welcomed, and dancing is arranged as some musicians gather. Yeah that's decent. You don't turn any heads, but you're able to follow after Charles the whole time and fit in with everyone else, only slipping up a few times but he's always there to catch you. The initial bout of it where everyone is involved goes on for quite some time and is fairly rigorous, but also quite fun. Not the kind of dancing you're used to or would prefer, but enjoyable nonetheless. It definitely makes you feel fancy.

After awhile things settle more to pairs rather than big formations with everyone, and most people are now gathered around the dance floor to watch or converse with one another. It's during this time that you talk about your silk business, which utterly astounds the folks around you, and draws about as much attention as can be considered polite. The women pretty much beg and plead for you to make your products available to them, while the men are interested in the business side of it, some being merchants and the like themselves, and wanting to consider business.

In this way, as before with the attention on you, you start getting asked to dance by some of the men. Charles seems a little jealous as expected, but by etiquette he can't deny them if you are ok with it.

I'd meant what do you do just mundane to try to distract, but that's pretty good and you know a spell. Right away you start to trip up with the guys, but subtly manage to cast a spell under your breath, which causes a number of colored specs of light to rise up in the air and slowly dance around the room. Everyone is quite amazed at first, but soon it makes for the perfect overhead display to dance beneath and most rejoin the center floor. Charles taking this chance, rescues you, and helps you along again. The dancing for this round is slower and closer beneath the fancy lights, so you get by hanging onto Charles. All in all it's quite atmospheric and makes it all feel rather special.

Eventual awhile later and people start to settle down, the host grabs everyone's attention again and says it's time for the main festivity, appropriate to the holiday this eve. Everyone murmurs about it and is excited, and you hear that it's something of a tradition. Before long, across a big table is it revealed a large number of animal masks. They're quite simple but do the job of hiding one's face well enough. Something of a loose rabble forms around the table as guests take a mask and allow for others to follow behind them in doing the same.

>What animal do you want to choose?

While waiting for a chance to pick, you're informed that inside each mask is a little roll of paper, indicating another animal you must find. Then ideally without being noticed, you are to undo the simple bow knot used to tie the mask around their head at the back, causing the mask to fall off in theory and revealing their identity. Should someone's mask be removed, then they must return to the main hall, otherwise everyone else is free to roam the grounds and the house however they please in order to hide or seek.

You grab an owl mask and are informed your target is a female rabbit, designated by standing ears rather than drooped ears. By the time you get your own mask on and find Charles again, people are starting to spread out through the estate.

So then what's your plan? If you want to just start randomly looking around you could roll for it, or you could devise a strategy.
>>
>>659537
Let's try getting to a high point on the estate with a good view and try to scope out misses bunny.
>>
>>659549
You move with Charles up the staircase in the main foyer, though it only provides a view over that room, and not too many people are there. You could roll for it but you can see most everyone there at the moment and don't make out the rabbit mask.

Being upstairs could provide a benefit though if you look out the windows to the outside below, assuming your target is outside.
>>
>>659569
Let's scope out the outside through the windows first then.
>>
>>659577
You follow along the windows through some of the rooms to look down on the outside. After a little while Charles says he sees his target, but no such luck with yours. The rabbit could either happen to be skirting the outside grounds opposite of you, or still in the estate, in some room. She could be hiding even, while walking around upstairs you notice a few people in different rooms hiding in places.

Rather than try to cast a more offensive spell at him, you make a break for the balcony, preparing the spell as you jump off and start to slowly float to the ground. You catch the attention of some of the people still playing below, who gasp at first but then point and clap enjoy the display.

You look back to see the ram having run to the balcony and even tried to lean off to grab you, but only barely missed. Without hesitating, he tells you he'll be down to catch you when you land, and going back inside for a moment, he makes a running jump off the balcony to land in one of the overgrown hedges you expanded. Trying to orient yourself in the air properly, you preform the spell and unleash a harmless barrage of the little glowing blobs his way. You wonder though if they had a necklace waiting for any possible animal who won?

At any rate, after that things become less formal and more evenly lively, as drinks are busted out and any semblance of a proper line for the food is done away with. People disperse to the various rooms around the house or outside, to mingle about while conversing, listening to the music, telling scary stories and getting drunk into the night. Charles says this is the mainstay of the party, though he already got what he came for, having you by his side to not look like a total loser, so he's just as willing to go as he is to stay, your choice.

>What do you want to do?

For what it's worth, he says there is going to be an effigy burned later, and from what he heard the host even hired a beastling to show up and enact some wacky pagan ritual for the holiday. Maybe a ghost will even show, who knows.
>>
>>660565

Also OP what's the hosts current opinion on us?

>>
>>660565
Also how cool is Charles now to everyone else?
>>
>>660571
Werewolves are a disease, and goblins are a race. Beastlings are an actual cross between a commoner and some sort of creature or animal. They're uncommon though both because they're shunned in society, and because there's few creatures or animals which can interbreed with commoners, that isn't also magical in nature. An example would be a satyr, a cross between a commoner (human usually) and a goat creature.

>>660575
As seems to be a trend, some of the guests dislike you for various reasons, but most find you very intriguing/curious and entertaining. The host similarly, very much appreciates you for bringing some unexpected entertainment and interest to the party.

You drink a fair amount but the stuff they serve here is suitable for a dandy at best. Plenty of people there get drunk, but for you it's like drinking water.

Anyway, after awhile you manage to locate the ram fellow, learning he's a foreigner from the country to the southeast of Almace. That would explain his different style of clothing and unique mannerisms and accent.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>661371
Thank him for that great match and for being a good sport about it and hang around with him and Charles until the effigy thing starts
>>
>>661560
You thank him for the challenge which he reciprocates the feeling, and laments this party compared to those of his home country, but you more than made up for it. He flatters you, and is a rather charming fellow, which irritates Charles.

At any rate though when it rolls past the late night into very early morning, the host gathers everyone outside to the garden/courtyard which looks very much more interesting with all the wild growth you caused. An effigy of The Hallowed One is set up on a pyre with other torches around, and eventually a minotaur approaches the scene in a procession with a few torch bearers, all hooded and robed. It's a little startling and you notice you're not the only person there alarmed by the beastling, notably for you since you've never seen one before and the size and stature is imposing. As they approach the pyre, the minotaur goes around offering a goblet for people to let some blood into if they care to or are brave enough. Not more than a pinprick and a few drops are expected, and most don't. Some of the young men are goaded into it by their friends on dares, and a lady or two find it curious enough to try.

>Do you care to do anything?

Either way, the torch bearers go about placing them and form a circle around the pyre, while the minotaur does the rounds.
>>
>>661600
Lets participate, it might get more interesting if we do
>>
I got internet on my phone just for u bby
>>
>>661612
You figure why not, and prick a finger for a few drops of blood. Eventually after making the rounds, the torch bearers gather to remove the robes of the minotaur, and you realize she's female. Unclothed for the ritual you assume, her body has been painted with symbolic markings all over, and she leads the torch bearers in a chant as she climbs the pyre and pours the blood over the effigy. Bringing the chant to a head, she lights the pyre and begins a ritual dance around it while the torch bearers remain in a loose circle and continue the chant for her. The flames rise high and consume the effigy, and it seems to come alive as it twists and turns. At a point where you'd guess the blood starts to burn, the smoke rising turns red, and the ritual reaches a fever pitch of the minotaurs display and the chant of the torch bearers.

For you it's quite scary actually since not only is this something you're not familiar with and you know is blasphemous against god, but also you start to see shapes and figures coalesce and emerge in the smoke, one of them clearly a dragon. You ask Charles but he doesn't seem able to see anything of the sort.

Finally an eldritch wail is heard emanating from the pyre which is met with a beastly roar from the minotaur, as the ritual completes and the result is made clear.

The result of the effigy, a collection of ghosts materialize and slowly drift around the area as if lost or aimless. It's pretty disconcerting at first, but then the flaming effigy starts dancing around on the pyre which is scary at first but eventually quite funny until it burns out, and in it's place among the ashes of the pyre, grows a big pumpkin. The spookiness persists for awhile till the ghosts sort of just disperse and wander off one by one till none remain.

Everyone thought it was very strange but also entertaining, and out of worry you hear that a priest had been contacted by the host some days prior to sanctify the grounds afterward anyway, so it's not like there'd be any residual heretical presences or leftovers, so to speak. The torch bearers clean everything up, while the minotaur puts some clothes back on and hangs around to eat and drink some, and answer questions people have. It seems she was paid through the whole night, even though her main event is done.

After that things eventually wind down as most return inside, and the party lives itself out. Within an hour some of the guests have left and many are preparing to, while some remain just lounging around, drunk or asleep already. The host doesn't mind if some people end up staying the night, it seems. You though are still fairly lucid and sober, a little tired from the many hours so far and activity, but if you wanted to do anything else here, or even take your leave to spend time elsewhere or doing something else, you could.

>What do you want to do?

The minotaur's still there, she went into the kitchen to eat. And ram guy you understand is a guest of someone, so he's still there. As of right now, talking to a couple people about the wars.
>>
>>662326
Ask how to get contact with ram bro he was an interesting adversary.
Then let's go talk to miss Minotaur.
>>
>>662345
You approach him and he stands up to speak to you. He says he's staying with ___? over the winter, so you can find him there usually, or anywhere abouts. Charles knows the person he's staying with, so you could find him again that way. Before you depart he kisses your hand and hopes the stars align for you to meet again.

Afterward you make your way to the kitchen to find the minotaur, sitting on some sacks of flour and having a drink with one of the kitchen staff. You approach her and she says if you have any questions or confusion about the display earlier, she's willing to make sense of things for you.
>>
>>662381
>So what does it mean if I see a dragon in the smoke?
If we're gonna drop a bomb let's just do it out the front gate.
>>
>>662392
She says that means someone's blood there is that of a dragon, which brings some realization to her, and she says makes sense now why the ritual had such a strong effect. Normally it's lucky if even one ghost shows up, she says. She didn't see the dragon herself because she was too busy in the ritual dance, so can't say, but it makes sense.
>>
>>662409
>Suspicious/nervous laughter

>Anyways it's nice to meet you my name is Magdalena and yours?
>>
>>662430
She says it's nice to meet you too, it's not often that more well off humans are as friendly or tolerant. Her name is ___? and holds out a massive hand, in some sort of familiarity gesture which would make shaking intuitive.

Out of curiosity, she asks if you're an invitee or a guest of one, and again reiterates if you had any questions about the ritual, or even just her, feel free to ask. That's what she was paid for basically, entertainment.
>>
>>662451
>Why we're so friendly or tolerant.
Well considering how odd both I and the company I keep are it's not right for me to judge.
>Invitee or a guest of one
A guest of one.
>About the ritual
Where did the ghosts come from?
And where did they go to?
(Name Toras)
>>
>>662466
You tell her you're somebody's guest which makes sense to her, as she said it's not often for higher up folks to be friendly or tolerant.

You ask about the ritual, she says they're the passive kind of ghosts, the ones you hear about or see walking down a hallway or across a bridge over, and over again. Kind of like a memory trapped in time, they're not really aware of anything, whereas other kinds of ghosts are actually responsive and reactant, and even interactive. Where they came from, just the ghosts of people who died around this area in horrible, tragic, or memorable ways, the ritual sort of illuminated them compared to where normally, you might glimpse one of them once a year at a certain time of day and under certain situations, usually relating to the way they died.

Where they went, she says back to where they came from and usually are found, back to their usual haunt locations and patterns. She tends to only stick with those kinds of ghosts since nothing can really go wrong, though she didn't expect nearly so many, but then tonight is a special night.

The danging effigy though she literally has no idea, and can only guess her performance was good enough to entice a willing partner. The dragon blood probably helped with that too.

Meeting halfway, Tora works!

>What do you want to do now. Charles has found you and noticed you talking with Tora, but seems reluctant to get near her.

I know.
I was thinking that we could learn about blood magic so we won't get screwed because we know shit about it.
>>
>>662592
She says she can believe that he's not comfortable around her, he looks the type. She laughs when you ask if it's blood magic though and strongly refuses, saying she wouldn't perform something like that in public, and would never let it be known whether she knew blood magic. She clarifies that it's, in her words, wild magic. Just a term for very old, unstructured magic based on beliefs and nature, common to druids and wicca. Her father was a tribal shaman who she learned from. She says blood magic has no benign applications or uses, and you wouldn't need to ask to know if it was.

You question hiring her, she isn't opposed to the idea interestingly, but wonders why you would need her and what for?

And yes you would guess she's strong. She's 8 foot tall standing, naturally very thick and muscular, and looks like she could pull your arms off.

>>662616
You question Charles' masculinity and tell him to come closer. He takes a few slow steps closer, until Tora snorts and asks him what's up, calling him little man. He immediately takes a few slow steps away.

>>662627
Maybe that was your hope but unfortunately, it isn't blood magic. Again, you would know blood magic when you see it, given how universally reviled it is, and how baleful its effects are.
>>
>>662683
>Why we would need her.
Well she's strong and I'm curious about wild magic considering how our instructors called out magic wild.

Also tell Charles
>Charles if you are okay with talking to me she should be no problem. Why would you consider her scarier than I could ever be? Because of her appearances?
>>
>>662725
She says if you can pay her and don't ask her to do things she isn't comfortable with, she supposes she could accept employment. She just makes sure you're aware of the difficulties she has around civilization, so that could carry to you.

As for Charles, he quite simply says you look like you and she looks like her, and that's why he's avoidant.
>>
>>662775
>Charles that is shallow. And the worst evil is the unseen one. So can you just come over here?

You complain enough to him, and finally Charles gives up and joins you, though is clearly on edge. Tora asks if you're a couple, or if not what your situation is.
>>
>>662825
>Are we a couple
We're friends not really dating. I needed help with something and he was kind enough to say yes. So I'm helping him back.

>>
>>662825
>>662840
I was going to write something else but this works
>>
>>662840
She says she doesn't really understand your situation, but doesn't think it's her business either. While she's willing to meet you though, she says she'll need a freedom of movement document from a magistrate or sheriff, if she's to go through town to Aea's place as you tell her. The host got one for her for tonight/today only.

At any rate though, it seems like you've worked out and understanding together.

>What do you want to do now?
>>
>>662900
>Also Charles can you at least get somewhat more used to those that aren't humans? I can smell the negative emotions and it makes me uncomfortable.

OP is Tora going to get the freedom of movement document or are we supposed to?
>>
>>662900
Ask her where can we find her when we get that document she needs
>>
>>662914
Charles asks if you can get less used to those that aren't humans?

For the movement document, you'll have to get it for her, or rather someone able to do so will have to get it for her. So in this case Charles could. It doesn't sound difficult to obtain, it's just a process you'll have to go through.

>>662941
Currently she's staying outside of town, a little ways beyond the east gate. You'd be able to find her by asking around for her, she's understandably well-known wherever she goes.
>>
>>662987
>Charles asks if you can get less used to those that aren't human.
Some of my best friends are goblins.
Why would I want to be less used to them?
Why you dislike non humans so much?
It can't be just because of their appearances.
>>
>>662987
We should go get the document tomorrow and bring Charles in case we need a man with us for the process

Lets say our goodbyes and leave, we need our rest
>>
>>663020
He says in the same vein as him asking you to be less used to them, is like you asking him to be more used to them. He doesn't get on your case for being the way you are, he doesn't think you should get on his case for being the way he is.

He also says he doesn't think he dislikes non-commoners any worse than most anyone else. He thinks maybe it's because you came from the countryside and it might be different there, but try asking around here anyone you find at random, and see how they feel about non-commoners.

In this case he specifically emphasizes commoners, meaning the common races. That includes races like elves and orcs and even goblins to an extent.

>>663030
You can take care of that tomorrow, sure. You give your goodbyes and leave, the host reminding anyone (as requested to by Tora) not to travel on any roads outside the city till sunrise.

>What do you want to do?

You could go back to someplace to sleep, or you could while away the rest of the hours till morning. As before, Charles enjoyed the party but it wasn't really in your preferred range of entertainment, expecting things less formal, less orderly and harder on the drink, and merriment.
>>

It wasn't a success roll, but rather an event roll, so a certain event could occur depending on where in 100 you landed. None of them bad, just possible different events.

In this case though, you notice the scent of someone you're quite familiar with. While hanging around with Charles, you passively follow your nose, and come to notice Fera, the girl from the tavern where the drinking contest took place. She hasn't noticed you yet, but she's laughing and trying to play some sort of throwing game with a couple people.

For this particular one, I came up with five possible events, in increments of 20. So if you rolled a 1, you'd end up with this same event, if you rolled a 100 you'd end up with the 5th event.

In this kind of a roll, you can't win or fail, it's just different things that happen.
>>
>>663368
Oh ok.

Then let's go meet up with fera.
And join in on this game and win.

You approach from behind and hug her, which she tries to stifle an initial yelp and jumps a little from the surprise, though when she knows it's you she laughs the tenseness away and hugs you deeply. She's happy to see you and was wondering when you'd turn up again, but what better time and place than this. What she's really amazed most about is your dress and how fancy it is, saying you look absolutely beautiful like straight out of one of those fancy portraits of the noble ladies.

Charles catches up, and both he and Fera are curious to know who the other is, your choice how you introduce them.

Fera does even worse than you it looks like! Well you've got some time then while Charles continues to play, if you wanted to do anything. The clearing is pretty par for the course as a festival, there's some kegs, dancing some fires, games as you saw with the bucket, a wagon with some cheap food and one or two people ran back home to grab an instrument to play.

Sitting together after awhile, you offer Fera to dance. She says she's not sure that's possible, you wouldn't really have the room to do a ballroom dance here. You grab her hand though and dance the way you're used to, the way you prefer. Together you have a ton of fun even though you tire yourself out, and noticed by then Charles is sitting with his won bucket, clapping and laughing to the two of you jumping around together.

This was what you were missing from the party, it was great on its own but with this after, it made your night perfect. By the time you decide to take a breather, Charles tells you in a couple hours it will be sunrise, though he figures at this point you were already going to sleep half a day at least.

Charles is fine with whatever, though Fera is similarly tired after dancing together, and you're aware she's probably been out all night too.

So you make your way over to Aea's to head in, and...

Once you open the door though you hear a snap as a bell starts to ring, and you hear some sort of mechanism trigger as a bucket is launched at you, and you're splashed with some sort of viscous substance. It's sticky and unpleasant and gets on your dress which is upsetting, but the first thing to do is find that bell and turn it off. You eventually manage to do so, and try to find a lantern or something. By the time you do have a little light though, you start to feel a burning sensation where the liquid had made contact with your skin, before you wiped it away. It started with an itch, but now it's starting to become a little painful.

>What do you do?
>>
>>663730
Use dragon sense to find something tu help us
>>
>>663744
Your dragon sense can find all sorts of things in the store, but you don't personally have the knowledge to know what it was you were hit with, or what could help.
>>
>>663730
Any magic to help us?
Can we use illusion magic to dull the itch?
>>
>>663749
The pain is real, an illusion isn't going to help much. As for magic, you can try but you'll have to guess what to do to remedy this.

With every passing minute the pain is getting worse as well, and your skin is turning red. Already the parts of the dress that were hit, have lost all their color and are starting to crack.
>>
>>663780
Oh dear.
Magic now.
I'm betting it's a acid.
We need to treat it.
>>
>>663780
Strip completely and find some water to bathe in
>>
>>663797
You throw your clothes off, having to cut your way out of some in such a hurry, and drag the wooden tub out, working the pump to try and get the water out. The burning is now getting quite severe, and your skin is starting to blister.

>>663789
While trying to get the tub at least half-full you've got some short time to possibly cast a spell, what did you have in mind?
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>663838
We have a spell for watering down alcohol right?
Maybe if we use it on the acid it'll become more basic by way of making it more water like.
>>
>>663847
>82

You summon a small but constant blast of water over the afflicted area. Initially it is tremendously painful as you cry out and try to grab at your skin, but after a short while the pain stops getting worse at least. It still feels awful, especially under water, but it's not like your flesh is peeling off anymore. By the time you get the tub half full and can sit in it and try to more carefully wash yourself, the burning has subsided, however the pain of the burns remains as well as the burns on your skin themselves. You hope it isn't too severe, or that will be some nasty scars on your lower face, neck and upper chest.

Your dress wasn't nearly so lucky, and large parts of it have corroded to nothing on the floor. At least it protected you some from the trap.

Otherwise you sit in the tub as it continues to slowly fill up, and passively use some magic to try and heat the water as it goes.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>663889
Soak for a bit.
Try leaving the tub for a bit to see if the stinging isn't getting worse.
Try to find a bed to sleep in.
>>
>>663906
You sit in the tub for awhile, till the sun comes up. Not long after, the urchin boy comes in and looks to reach around in a specific way to prevent something from triggering, but when he doesn't feel anything he quickly kicks open the door with a knife at the ready. When he sees you though he lowers his guard and asks if you need anything, while offhandedly mentioning that he pulled a great score last night.

You try moving out of the water for a bit but the stinging still comes back, though it's significantly less. You feel probably another half hour at the most should do the trick. The urchin also offers to go out and get you two some food, you can probably eat while waiting in the tub.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>663986
Tell him to go for some food and tell him that if he sees Aea while he's out there mention we got sprayed with that acid of hers
>>
>>664052
So he goes off to get you two food and comes back to sit next to you beside the tub. He's intent on bragging about his new score, and how he's getting his pull around without showing himself because he admits he probably wouldn't be taken serious as young as he is.

Eventually he comes around to asking what you did last night, and why you're trying to sneak into the store?
>>
>>664115
>I went to a small party, two actually, I was pretty tired after that so i came here to rest since the school gates were closed by the time i was done.

>What about you son? What's the score you keep bragging about?
>>
>>664149
He says that sounds pretty neat, and wonders if you'll be spending the weekend. If you're tired you can use Aea's bed, unless like, you want to sleep with him so you don't have to sleep with her, but your call.

His score, he says he maimed and stole the identity of a servant, and has gained access to a Duke's house. Not only does he have free reign to (smartly) pilfer the place if he wants, but he was able to blackmail the head maid into letting him get away with it. He says if you ever want to get into a Duke's house, let him know.
>>
>>664189
>Maimed and stole the identity of a servant

Did he Hannibal Lecter a poor dude?
>>
>>664204
No he just pushed the guy in front of a carriage, looking to steal from him. He found out the guy had been hired by the Duke's staff but hadn't shown up to work yet, so showed up in his place claiming to be him and with his credentials.
>>
>>664225congratulate him and tell him not to blow his cover because we'll probably need to borrow stuff from the Duke later.

And tell him to go find Aea
>>
>>664280
You tell him to keep it low, he says he's not stupid, and will go look for Aea. He says though he doesn't expect to find her anytime soon, she's found when she wants to be.

At any rate after he's gone, you get out of the tub and look for a dressing gown or something, finding one of Aea's even though it's too big for you. You then dump the tub out on the street, and head upstairs for some sleep. Aea's bed is the biggest so you decide on hers.

---

You awake an unknown amount of time later, hearing the sound of paper somewhere beside you. You notice Aea sitting upright in bed, unclothed and reading a book. You avert your eyes in embarrassment but she says you shouldn't be so surprised, you stole her dressing gown. She asks if you slept well, and how the ball went.

Judging by the light outside, it probably hasn't been that long, maybe just before or around noon, and you're still tired.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>664323
Tell her how the ball went and go into detail and ask her if she has anything for the acid

And

>Do you actually need the gown?

And go back to sleep
>>
>>664342
You have a drowsy talk for awhile about the ball and the party after, and what a great time you had. She says that's good for you, and thinks it's interesting about the ghost ritual and the minotauress. In passing you happen to ask about the acid, she says she does actually have something that should help at least for the healing, if you're lucky a scar won't remain. When she gets up you ask her if she needs the gown, she says you'd be surprised, since when the urchin kid is around she can't be going about the second floor naked, though at that moment he's asleep so it's not an issue. When she returns it's a little weird since in the end you end up having to take down the top of the dressing gown so she can rub the cream onto the afflicted areas. You're obviously embarrassed, but she doesn't seem to care at all seeing your bare torso, and just talks about her night, and how you should have at least assumed her store would be trapped against robbers. Hearing her talk and the sensation of her hands making circles on your upper torso, neck and face, it's honestly quite relaxing and as tired as you are, you slowly drift to sleep again.

---

Some hours later, late afternoon by the look of things, you awaken feeling better rested, and better for the pain of the burns. Looking around you notice Aea fixed the top of the gown back over you, and you notice some bread and cheese on the side table. She though is nowhere to be seen.

>What do you want to do?

You don't have a full day ahead of you, but you could still make use of the few hours till evening.
>>
>>664406
Have breakfast and Go get that document we need for Tora
>>
>>664430
Well it's a late lunch, but it tastes and smells foul and you remember you have to get your

>daily dose

from Aea, you also ask to borrow some clothes of hers, and after eating for real you head out to find Charles. When you get there he's up and about and properly dressed, and is obviously a little embarrassed to see you in such ill-fitting clothes. At any rate though he accompanies you to the nearest magistrate's business and requests the travel document for Tora. Once you get it notarized, it's off to go find the minotauress herself.

Roll to see if you find her just on your own.

You can't smell shit. Well you can smell shit but not Tora over all the shit.

It's as easy as she said to find her though, pretty much all the squatters outside the city know where the "big cow woman" is. You find her sitting by a fire with some goblins and a dryad if you had to guess. She remembers you though and is pleased to see you, surprised that you actually came through on the papers. It's a simple business after that for her to pack up all her belongings on her back, and be ready to follow you wherever you plan to take her.

How much would it cost for us to buy a house.
Aea needs a place to move into and we can have urchin bro live in the shop.

We can also move Tora in the house as well.
>>
>>664595
You've got a fair amount of personal funds, that you didn't have to spend on the dress because Charles bought it. You could always try to dip into Aea's funds, but that's usually a last resort.

>>664600
You currently don't have enough to buy a house, you could let one though. Aea is close to buying her shop though so she'd be reluctant to lose that money to renting a house, then the shop income would go to paying rent on two places.

Tora also says she would prefer not to live in a house if possible, unless it's sized for her, since she hates having to duck down all day to avoid hitting her head, and hates even more snagging her horns on doorways and rafters. A place with a yard would be nice, she could just camp out the back, or a place with a shed or open air roof like a smithy or workshop.

Scratch that, we go to school to say goodbye to Lisbeth since we're going to Rea and take Tora with us

>>
>>664638

>>664639
She'd need a new one for Rea, but you'd need to get that in Rea, so traveling till there wouldn't be an issue. It's not a document for free travel around the country, just entry to cities.
>>
>>664654
Lets bring the Urchin if he's willing, if Aea's going hes going to be alone

The urchin likes the sound of it, but unfortunately if he's going to keep this position in the Duke's staff, he can't afford to up and disappear for a few weeks.

If there's no one else to take, I assume you'll want to use a carriage?

At any rate you're notified when you stop by the school to get your things, that they received word from the church, the Rea girl coincidentally enough was purged of her vampire sickness and regained from her coma. However she had very little to any memory of what was going on, what happened or where she was, and immediately requested to return to Rea.
>>
>>664695
Wew.
Can they cleanse us?
Let swing by the church.
Collect the poor woman and see if they can cleanse us.
>>
>>664695
Take her with us, tell her what happened and convince Urchin bro to come with us, what if something happens to him while we're gone, fuck that

Hey op, would we lose our memory too if we got cleansed? Or was that exclusive to Rea Girl since she got the worst of it
>>
>>664703
Nah let's leave urchin bro.

I want an Inside to the Duke's place
>>
>>664699
You stop by, might as well and find Rea lady. She only vaguely recognizes you, but is happy to learn you're going back to Rea and pleads you to help her, immensely thankful when you agree to let her, but she'll have to pay...

...with her body.

Anyway, you ask if they can cleanse you, but they say it would take a similar amount of time and you staying there till then, since they found out how serious it was on Rea girl.

>>664703
You wouldn't lose your memory since you weren't bewitched by the vampire like Rea girl was.

Also there's a risk something could happen to him, but is it work losing his current job position?

Also I figure something else worth asking,

>Is there anything you want to get or buy or bring with you before you leave?

Like, what's the situation with your equipment/arms/armament/goods?
>>
>>664715
>Armaments to buy
Get a wand
Bring a knife
And let's have the blight cured when we get back.
Leave urchin bro as I trust his skills.

And make sure our underclothes are treated.
And ask Aea if she can treat our clothes to resist aetherial deterioration.
>>
>>664715
Just some leather armor, we'll spell weave some daggers if we need to
>>
>>664731
Out of curiosity what's the wand for?

And yes, Aea can treat your clothes. It won't do much good though against deterioration.

>>664732
Some leather armor you can get.

While crossing a bridge, the carriage has to stop because the road is blocked by a fallen tree. Thereafter a fellow rides up on a horse with some pistols telling you to empty your valuables into his hat! From his composure and manner of speaking, he seems a step above average bandit.

He doesn't seem an amateur either, Tora was about to literally punch his head off of his body, but he notices before she even makes a move and has a gun trained on her.

Still hurts like hell though, didn't penetrate the leather or your clothes after the barrier, but it still hit your shoulder and you think something might have broken from the impact.

Aea tries to help you up but you're having trouble breathing so she tells you to keep like that for now, while Tora and the driver must have gone after the highwayman, because now Tora is holding him upside down by the leg and asking what to do with him?

With that, Tora grabs him with both arms, lifts him up, and headbutts him so hard she breaks his neck in one blow. After that she throws him on top of the carriage to eat later since you asked for privacy.

The question is, what to do with his guns, and his horse? Also to be completely honest, his clothes are pretty badass and while you probably can't wear them, you could maybe have a dress made in the same style?
>>
>>665028
>Badass dress
Yes.

Keep them.
We can think of what to do with them later.
>The horses.
Send it off or something I don't know.
I don't need it.
Or want it.
>>
>>665047
Only after you send the horse off does Tora realize she would have rather eaten the horse than the man.

The guns though are surprisingly well made to your eyes, from what you remember of the gun shop you want to before. His clothes too are well made.

Anyway, that night by carriage speeds you reach a town and stop off. Tora stays outside of town so as not to scare anyone and also so she can eat the guy's body, while Aea helps you to a barber. As she guessed, your arm is broken near the shoulder, though he can set it and she can make some potions which will speed up the healing process. The barber can't recommend you continue to travel though until it heals up, but that's your choice. Aea thinks as long as you don't hit any rough road or get accosted again, you should be healed up well enough.

>Your choice. Also if you want to do anything in town while here.
>>
>>665065
We'll continue traveling with the injury.
And let's see if we can sell these guns off to a merchant or gunsmith.

I assume we can.

And make sure to use dragon smell to help get a good deal.
>>
>>665071

Well you can sell them, but not at what you think would be a fair price. Both because it would be a little weird trying to sell off some things which can't probably be valued, and also there aren't any gun experts here. If you want to sell them to a merchant cheap though you can.

OP if we start displaying draconic traits will we need a freedom of movement missive?
>>
>>665636
Assumedly at that point, you'd have enough wealth or influence, or friends/married to someone who can wave it off, that it doesn't matter.

But in theory, yes there would be a point where you were too mutated that you wouldn't be let into cities in Almace. Probably at the point where you can't hide your traits anymore, but then by that point you'd probably no longer be bipedal.
>>
>>665761
So if we spend time wandering the lands righting wrongs like I plan we can get enough influence?
>>
>>665773
That would build fame and even gratitude, but not neccessarily influence. Influence is like, having an official position or noble title, or being recognized in the country for something.
>>
>>665796
Could we become a war hero?

I'm feel that if we get strong enough we could severely influence a battlefield.
>>
>>665799
You might not be able to attain an official military position or rank, but you could probably become a recognized war hero yes, if you also had something going for you that would similarly get people to revere you.

Even in Almese history there's examples a woman or two having military roles, the most famous example being Juliette of Ars, a young peasant woman who through faith and holy authority caused Almese forces to follow her to battle against the forces of the country across the waters to the north.
>>
>>665815
It's worth noting though that with the advent of gunpowder, war nowadays can be a lot more indirectly lethal. Certainly war hasn't ever had a lack of lethality, but nowadays you can get killed just as easily and quickly by a stray bullet or cannonfire shrapnel some distance behind the frontline, as you would have in the past by a spear or sword on the frontline.
>>
>>665815
>Not have an official military position or rank.
Does that mean we can just fly around taking enemy bases at our leisure.
>>665821
I'll make a note to have most of the shenanigans at night.
Maybe ask them to let us have a sort of irregular corp that hit's them fast and hard before they even know it.
>>
>>665822
You can certainly try to fly around and take enemy bases. The keyword being try here.

As for some corps, you may encounter a problem where if you become monstrous enough and very obviously pick a side, the war/sides will get into sort of a magical arms race of involving magic or magical creatures. That could get very ugly, and there's a reason why for the most part, nations of the day have sort of an unspoken agreement to avoid such things.

Otherwise you'd get wars ending up like they were in the age of legends, which nobody wants.
>>
>>665829
Then can we solo assassinate the officers and leaders and such and go focus on sabotage?

Also
>Age of Legends
Oh shit this sounds cool.
>>
>>665836
Well as with anything it depends on your appearance, you're going to have a tough time sneaking and sabotaging as a giant dragon.

Though at the same time if you try it as you are, or close enough, you're probably be human enough that you could engage in espionage among the enemy/enemy command, which would be more useful than sabotage.
>>
>>665841
Is it possible to change into pic related or an anthro dragon instead of a giant quadruped dragon
>>
>>665858
Basically the way it works is your phenotype and your genotype, your actual DNA and how it is expressed in your body.

Originally, from your birth till you started to change, your genotype was 50% human and 50% dragon, but your phenotype was fully 100% human. As you continue to change and your genotype shifts from one side to the other, your phenotype will follow suit.

So what you look like and how dragonic you appear, will depend on your mutation and will always range between the two extremes of "Normal Human" and "Normal Dragon"

The picture you posted would probably equate to around 50% of your phenotype being dragonic, and you'd look roughly half human, half dragon. Once you reach around 75% though, you'll start being more dragon than human, and one such example being your loss of bipedal/upright movement.
>>
>>665866
And what would our magical power be like at around 50%?
>>
>>665866
Oh and for the actual calculation if it wasn't clear, every time you mutate, that equates to 1% change of your phenotype, or .5% change of your genotype, they're equivalent values.

>Every 1% change of genotype = 2% of phenotype

Currently you're at 6% phenotype change, so your breakdown would be something like

>Genes: 47% Human, 53% dragon
>Expression: 94% Human, 6% dragon
>>
>>665872
Your magic power will increase dramatically the more draconic you are. I'm assuming you mean 50% expressed dragonic, well if at the very start, around 1% you were able to learn up to common magic with ease, at 50% you'd be able to learn up to master tier magic with ease.

Your actual magical power though, you'd have to see. You can imagine it would be scales of magnitude greater than what you are now though.
>>
>>665879
And what an our physical strength.

Can we suplex guys?
>>
>>665873
Also
>47% human
Too much filth.
Let's get it down to 25%.
>>
>>665881
Yeah your strength would increase, your size too. At your age if you were fully dragon you'd be about the size of a horse, so somewhere between human and horse in size, if you were at 50%.
>>
>>665919
What would Aea's thoughts be when we're around the 40-50% dragon mark.

And I assume Tora would take us being half dragon in stride?

Also if we take damage to a scale does it heal naturally?
>>
>>665950
Aea doesn't much care about anything unless it makes her own life harder. The more dragon you became the more valuable ingredients from you would be so she'd probably like it actually.

Tora doesn't differentiate, being herself more than familiar with intermediaries between man and beast.

As for damaged scale, I dunno, I'd guess. I'm not sure how actual animals with scales deal with that damage. I assume though it would work, or like the scale falls off and a new one grows.

Can we perform magical aid and stuff with he Marquis on a level his mage can't and be sorta friends with him so we are covered?
>>
>>666226
Be friends with the Marquis or the mage? The mage would be upset, the Marquis probably wouldn't be interested unless you were planning on having that job for a long time.
>>
>>666255
What if we gave him a magic item?

Like a really good magic item.
>>
>>666255
Also I assume the muskets are the ones that require a long reload time.

Will we get the chance to hire a gunsmith and maybe design muskets that are more like modern rifles?
Like having a deadbolt so they can insert the whole cartridge in the back of the gun like hunting rifles.

We could sell that for a pretty penny.
>>
>>666257
You wouldn't be able to make a magic item, let alone a really good one. And anyway he could just buy himself one or something like that.

>>666415
They're pistols but yes, they're the long reload sort, all guns are.

Guns of that sort you're talking about would be too advanced, unless like you devote your time and effort down the path of weapons designing. It would be currently possible though with a bit of time and effort to do something like, have a gun or guns made with multiple barrels, or pre-loaded barrels you can switch out. Probably easier still though just to have multiple guns. Or like, a magic gun which has "charges" rather than bullets, and has multiple charges so can shoot several times before reloading. Creativity!

Anyway, I'm gonna make the next thread pretty soon here. Among other things, something I'd been considering, is changing the name of the quest? Because I don't think "Cast Out" adequately describes it. What do you guys think, and if it does get changed, to what?
>>
>>666823
I'm down for a name change.

Maybe Hybrid Quest?
>>
>>666837
I think there already was a hybrid quest before, even if it was a couple years ago?
>>
>>666876
I can't fnd it in the archives.
Dragon Maid?
>>
>>666415
I saw this earlier but i ran out of internet, that kind of weapon should be exclusive to us and that could be our signature when we get more fame and once we retire/go full dragon/die the blueprints we made will be released to the public
>>
>>667014
Or if that's too complex we could design the first revolver.

Then go around saying
>It's high noon.
>>
>>666901
I suppose we can have all of next thread to deliberate over it. Anyway I'm back now so will be making the next thread shortly here. I won't be able to do with it on the twitter though since I don't have access to that currently.

Here's the next thread;
