Quest Intro

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, struggled victory leaving you thinking you had killed the
man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the relating emotional collapse lead you to abandoning yourself. Developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you could not in secret, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

Now you know the truth and have been taking measures to put yourself back together, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. More than that you’ve been doing your best to support your younger sister, Koyomi, as she has become the fourth to carry the title as Sailor New Moon.

Quest Start

Titans were the fearful parents of the Gods. Banishing, destroying, or consuming their progeny to prevent succession, evolution, and change. Chronos the Lord of Time held still all of creation while he was capable of willing it so as he supped upon his children until slain by one hidden from his purview and freeing from his guts the siblings who would rule beside one another and creation for a time. Families are weird like that.

Your own family, you think, is far better than that of ancient gods and goddesses whose lingering powers you have been witness to. Though for certain rivals them in complexity and confusion.

“Bu?” sputters and sounds the toddler with an otherwise fresh and new mind as she shies away from the cool metal aperture allowing the older professor to look into her ear as part of the unexpected physical being conducted.

“Hmmm,” Professor Tomoe, the older man with white hair whom you’ve been told spent the better part of a decade possessed by a malevolent alien entity, hums as he removes the device and the young girl with dark hair and piercing red eyes grasps at it with an absent curiosity.

You stand among a small assembly clustered in one of the medical rooms that exist as part of the secret laboratories beneath Infinity Academy. This place is the personal respite and research location of your mentor, and the daughter of the man providing this child with a physical, Hotaru Tomoe.
>>
>>681025

Tomoe-sensei, the pale skinned woman beside you, watches with certain though impassive eyes as her father inspects the infant. On your otherside is a bed where your younger sister, Koyomi, presently rests after an extreme supernatural exertion. She murmurs in her sleep and rolls to her side, sending one of her now noticeably longer blonde pigtails to begin coiling on the sterile floor.

“So cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!” Venus Aino, youngest of your little sister’s assembled Sailor Guardians, clad in a bandana hiding her crew cut of hair, squeals after a moment of quiet as her eyes remains wide and locked upon the younger but perhaps older babe being examined.

This child, this small miracle, is something unique as far as you are aware in all the endless cosmos. A clone of an ancient earth queen, grown over the crystallized and chaos suffused bones left upon earth for untold ages, with an empty but now active and ready mind. You are related to this child, for she was the mother of your father’s past life when he was the Prince of Earth when it was one kingdom in the ancient and untold past.

“And in perfect health and impossible condition,” the elder Tomoe says as he stands up, “Not so unexpected given the circumstances…”

“We still need to test her bone density,” your mentor sighs.

Damn it your family is too complicated, and your hair more so. Much like how your little sister’s hair grew when she channeled the Silver Crystal and was clad in a gown she has never worn, your own already unwieldy hair has extended as a result of your own brief informal transformation.

The new sea of pink unraveled your previously tightly wound conical buns, and you are presently considering grabbing a pair of medical shears off of a nearby counter and ending it as something you have to deal with. At the same time, you really like having long hair.

“Hey, if you want to bring the densitometer over from your pediatric clinic then you’re welcome to risk breaking it in unforeseeable magical feedback,” your mentor’s father crosses his arms.

“We have a densitometer here,”

So...you’ll deal for now. You’ll deal and rewind what you can as your best friend and Knight, Kairi Osaka, stands behind you and helps you straighten everything out.

“So,” Kairi asks as she combs through an inexplicably knotted length of pink in your hair, “Who is going to take care of the unexpected baby?”

“I’m sure her skeletal structure is entirely abnormal, and the densitometer here is really really expensive,” he responds, “And secret, so it isn’t exactly insured,”

“Well, it’s your clone Grandma,” Kanari Kino, the new Sailor Jupiter, reasons while sitting at the foot of the medical recovery bed your baby sister sleeps in, “So your dad and Luna until your mom gets back?”

“It’s just a quick light measure,” Tomoe-sensei offers in exasperation.
>>
>>681028

“Isn’t Luna,” Kanari’s twin brother and latest among the ranks of your Knights, Koito Kino, adds with difficulty parsing through referring to your family’s cat as a sentient person, “kind of busy with her own kid now?”

“And potentially clear crystalline bones might be light sensitive,” Professor Tomoe complains with certain worry.

You don’t begrudge him that reasoning, it is a bit hard getting used to talking shape shifting space cats, though you cannot help but to laugh a bit as a small purple gray blur leaps from somewhere in your mass of hair and lands on the boy’s head.

“I’m very stealth sufficient,” the kitten in question, Diana, exclaims as its face hangs upside down in front of his, prompting him to quirk a stoic eyebrow and lift the excitable magic talking cat off of his head and scratching behind her ear.

“Yes, yes you are,” he does not seek to correct her misused but not not misapplied terminology.

“The enemy will probably be looking for her though,” the dark haired young priestess and Guardian, Rin Kumada, quietly says toward the back of the room as she rubs one of her arms with nervous worry, “This is so far off from what I already saw in the fire that I have no idea of where or how we should even go forward.

The last of the young Sailor Guardians, in blue hair, turns in the stool where she was seated near the child in question and Professor Tomoe.

“Well, if they have any psychics primed to try and tack her they won’t have an easy time of it,” the psychic heir of Mercury explains as she dabs beneath her nose with a handkerchief, “Noticing her mental profile is extremely difficult, to say nothing of of getting a peek into her otherwise unoccupied mind,”

“Whatever,” Venus bounds over to where the Professor and Aiha sit with the child on an examination table, “She’s cute! You hear that, you’re cute!”

“Kyaa!” cheers the toddler, happy to be faced with a smiling face.

Your mentor and her father continue their argument as a thought crosses your mind.

“Wait,” you catch everyone’s attention, “Who's going to tell my dad?”

“I’ll take care of that,” Tomoe-sensei sighs and disengages from her argument, allowing her father to assume himself as the victor as he drifts over to a piece of equipment you assume to be the device they were arguing about and proclaim to it that it doesn’t need to worry because it’s safe.

This does not amuse Tomoe-sensei.

“The rest of you should all head home for the night,” she continues after a moment of contained frustration, even though it isn’t quite night time yet, “Mikage, I want you and Koyomi to rest up, your father will be able to take the both of you and Queen Kalyke home together,”

You are a bit fatigued. Physically you are worn out and metaphysically you have exhausted your internal supply of magical energy. However there are still a few things you need to take care of today and you’d rather not wait on dad.

Aha! With Kairi’s help you have one pun done with a pigtail set to manageable length.

>Yes Sensei, I’ll wait for dad
>Yes Sensei, can I at least have run of the grounds?
>Sorry, I have some business to take care of.
>I’d rather leave for home with everyone else
>Cast a spell (burning what in place of MP?) or use a power

Subsequent votes will have 15 minute windows.

Later this afternoon I have to break to pack up a van and take an hour or so drive home.

>I have some business to take care of, can I at least have run of the grounds?
Ito and Hanako were in on-campus dorms, right?

Let's explain the concerns regarding Flowers, and bring those that don't know the tale up to speed on Malefic Black/Black Moon. Venus in particular.
>>
>>681164
They're in College/Uni, they are not students at Infinity Academy.

Though there is a college level to Infinity Academy.
>>
Fudge. Just realized we managed to triple-book ourself again for the evening/night. Dream intervention, talk to Yoshi, and talk to Saori.

>>681185
Hm, so no investigating on campus. Should still take the time to bring the Senshi and the Tomoes up to speed on that.
>>
>>681035
How about we rest here for a time, and let our teams sniff around Hanako? Maybe play as one of them while Mikage is recouping.
>>681203
Maybe meet one or both of them in a secure spot on campus? Maybe discuss both issues with Tomoe after the others head out.
>>
>>681257
Maybe use maybe a bunch, maybe.
>>
>>681257
Could work out, but who first and what should we say?

>>681260
Maybe.
>>
Writing. Looks like you want to leave some investigations to The Senshi and your Knights after you share relevant intel. You're not going to be here too terribly late, you night time plans to call Yoshi to the house can still be done.

While you rest up, do you want to try for a clandestine meeting on Campus for Saori?
>>
>>681313
Would save time, and if she's as close as I think, moving the conversation to a secret lab wouldn't phase her either.
>>
>>681313
Sure. Maybe chat about things with Saturn while waiting for her.
>>
“Would it be alright if I had the run of campus while I was resting?” you question, “I get restless and I’m nowhere near as drained as Koyomi,”

Tomoe-Sensei regards you coolly, reaches over to inspect where she used her powers to heal your immediate wounds, and nods her head.

“That shouldn’t be a problem, the grounds are currently primed against certain elements so you shouldn’t have to worry about any trouble,” she reasons as she takes out her phone, tapping the screen a few times with intent, “I’ll give you a call when your father arrives, and if you’d like you can make use of the dormitory cafeteria. I’ve just added the permissions to your campus access card,”

Nodding, you turn to the other girls and Koito while you and Kairi work on the other side of your head. Right now it feels so much heavier and lopsided with only half of it done. Even with your wounds tended to, you’re still running on empty and are more than a bit sore from everything that happened. A meal actually sounds pretty good...but there are some pressing issues you can’t let sit.

“So, while Koyomi and I are sleeping off all of this,” you sigh, “Could you guys do me a favor?”

Venus and Rin rejoin the small assembly.

“What’s up PB-chan?” Venus queries with the nickname she gave you some weeks prior.

“Is it a super secret mission you’d have been doing as Eclipse if you could?” Kanari leans across Koyomi’s sleeping legs toward you with a smug and amused grin, only to be knocked slightly off balance by a gentle push to her shoulder by Koito, who himself is attentive.

“You girls remember the friend I mentioned earlier,” you question to a chorus of quiet nods, “Well, I was wondering if you girls could check up on her tonight. Keep tabs for a bit and take her temperature,”

Rin, Aiha, Venus, and Kanari share a look between one another. Tomoe-sensei has taken to checking on and picking up the child, bouncing her in her arms.

“Uh, if she’s gone monster, there isn’t much we can do to help her without Koyomi, or yourself,” Aiha explains, a bit embarrassed.

“And together we aren’t exactly subtle,” Rin shrugs, prompting Diana to leap onto her shoulder from Koito’s hands.

“I am!” she cheers.

“Well, I’ll as Midori to check up directly. She can take her temperature, I just want you guys, all of you guys, to be her backup,” you clarify and flinch as Kairi finds another tangle.

The young guardians look about at one another and nod firmly. Koito, ever uncertain but otherwise calm and collected, nods as well.

“I’ll call Midori,” Kairi offers with a hand on your shoulder as you finally get your second coiled bun wound and in place, “Yes just rest, okay,”

“Hey, I’ll make sure I don’t lose anymore physical stamina by draining mental instead,” you offer with a wry laugh, “Gonna call Umeki-san and finish things with her.

Kairi spins you on the stool you’ve been sitting on beside Koyomi’s bed; stopping you at the point of facing her with hands grabbing your shoulders.

“Finish things how?” she questions, a certain concern in her eyes.

“Well, she’s a hair’s breadth from the truth. I just want to gauge how close she is now and make a decision,” you explain.

“What kind of decision?” Aiha questions, “She’s the girl who Sasha tackled over the counter if I remember correctly,”

“Yeah, that’s her. And, maybe a royal court needs a Spymaster,” you shrug, “I don’t know...I’ll know later,”

Goodbyes and cautions are shared as you regard your phone carefully to message Saori Umeki.

“Diana,” you tell the small moon cat, “I want you to take this sneaking mission very carefully. Go where the girls can’t if you can manage it and stay out of sight,”

“Nya!” the talking cat cheers having received her marching orders.

As your friends leave, Kairi offering a sincere good luck to whatever looms ahead of you tonight, you text Saori Umeki with instructions that you’ll meet her in the dormitory cafeteria of Infinity Academy. Her response is near to immediate, first to say ‘ok’ and then to question why somewhere so far out of the way.

You do not answer that, she is on the way. There is probably plenty of time before you need to head up; glancing over toward Tomoe-sensei as she carries the curious child, a realization strikes you. You may be facing, among other things, some concerns about your conversation with Yoshi later tonight. Hell you have concerns about your entire extended relationship issues, to say nothing of your interpersonal issues with Saori.

“Say, Tomoe-sensei,” she glances up at you from the child to catch your expression as she locks in on the timber of your voice, “Can we talk, I need some perspective,”

She nods, and walks over to Professor Tomoe. You aren’t sure what she says to him, but he nods and departs the room with a wave. This situation, you aren’t going to parse your need for guidance as asking for advice, just perspective.

Returning to your side, she sets the child on the bed next to Koyomi. Immediately she curls and snuggles into your little sister’s hair and goes quiet with a yawn.

“What’s the problem, Mikage?” Tomoe-sensei asks as she sits evenly with you on the foot of the medical bed.

What isn’t? Well, at this point there are a few issues you have managed to put to bed.

“I’m having some problems,” you start as you glance up to her and realize that you shouldn’t be embarrassed about this.

“What kind of problems?” she questions as a hand slips down to the sleeve of her labcoat and starts to pull it back, “Have you been eating?”

“Well, I’m due soon,” you think outloud, “but this doesn’t have anything to do that...it’s something else. You already know there’s this guy,”

“Go on,” she nods.
>>
>>683911
You explain to her the situation regarding yourself and Yoshi, Sasha, and Kairi. Touching on both Sasha’s chemistry with your friend Moe Ueda, while noting the query she sent you regarding your feelings for him, and Kairi trying to see if anything could happen with your classmate Gai Ginja.

Summing up the way of things as you have before, how you didn’t want to pursue anything serious with Sasha until you sorted out your feelings for Yoshi. Kairi’s reaction to your admission of attraction and the nebulous state things are in now after you kissed Yoshi and are considering having a more serious talk about who you were, who you might still be and your desire to keep him away from the dangers of that part of your world.

She listens, nods, keeps eye contact and puts a comforting hand on your shoulder as you speak.

“And that’s about the most of it,” you sigh as she sits quietly with you for a moment.

“Well, it sounds like you trust him enough to want to tell him about this,” she says breaking the silence that was previously only punctuated by your sister snoring, “Just keep a clear head if you’re going to tell him about being Sailor Moon, and maybe you should also come clean to him about your feelings for Osaka-san and Sasha,”

“Well, he knows that I’m interested in Sasha already. He asked me that straight up when I went to try and see if we could still be a thing, but I still feel I’m being unfair to someone no matter which way I try to go,” you huff.

“Mikage, you only need to worry about being unfair to yourself,” Tomoe-sensei offers a tired laugh, “think on that for a while, okay?”

Nodding, you check the time and realize you should probably get a move on if you’re going to meet with Umeki-san. Excusing yourself, you make your way to the secret elevator and mind your way up to the top of campus. The sun hangs far into the late afternoon as your cross the courtyard toward the dormitories and the cafeteria within.

No one else is outside right now, save for one person waiting at the double doors serving as the outdoor entrance and exit into that cafeteria. Saori Umeki looks in through the glass window, searching for some sign of you. Perhaps uncertain as to why she even came this far as she mumbles to herself beyond the reach of your hearing.

Well, you’re hungry. Frankly considering the meal that was interrupted and the meal you passed on you are hungry on two fronts. Luckily, thanks to this cafeteria you can feed one of those hungers. Totally why you suggested she meet you here if you’re being perfectly honest.

Walking up to Umeki-san, still dressed nicely and wearing the positively transformative makeup, you swipe your access card to the building before she notices you’re there and stumbles between the doors as they slide open.

“Huh?” she questions as you walk in beside her, “Oh, Chiba-san, I was wondering where you were,”

You nod and beckon her to follow you into the cafeteria. Given that its off hours on a non academic day, it isn’t too heavily stocked on the buffet front. There are still plenty of wrapped and packaged plates and options to choose from as you lead her in.

“Wait, you have a card...to get in here?” she pauses and questions, processing that information long enough to shake her head, “Whatever, anyway you’ll never believe what I figured out earlier and you’ll never belief what I’ve found out since!”

She’s giddy, super giddy. You know how she gets so you won’t interrupt her yet as you lead her in and pick up an empty tray. Handing on to her for good measure, she pauses.

“Wait...you left with Yoshi. Why are you? Whatever, anyway I finally talked to this Sasha guy about the Red Eyed Beast and I think I’m onto something. From what I heard about her showing up places from Akiyama-san and other stuff I think she might not actually be fighting with the Senshi!”

This gives you pause as you pick up a small sweet bread sandwich and regard the girl quizically.

“It’s all smoke and mirrors, and it’s all a bigger trick. Mysteriously disappearing, being creepy, trying to look more like a villain than a hero but she totally acts like a hero other than fighting with the Senshi all of one tie...there are identity games going on. A shuffle around one culprit,” she puffs proudly as she ignores the food, and for her own well being you set a different sandwich on her tray.

“First off it starts with that guy who saved Sugimoto-san when Hiddenite put her through the wall at school. Eclipse,” you turn and look at Saori Umeki concerned, where does she know that name.

“Uh, I mean the Jewel Thief guy. His name is Hiddenite, I knew him in passing when I was a monster and I remembered a bunch of names and a little while ago I ran into Amazonite, but that’s another thing entirely,” and you’re a bit stupefied as you grab some juice cups and other trimmings to having a sandwich.
>>
>>684497

“Anyway, I remembered something when I saw Eclipse today at the Arcade after I bumped my head. Hiddenite complained about Eclipse having some kind of piercing Red Eyes that filled him with fear, eyes like some Queen he wasn’t super specific about. I don’t know much about that, but that shits super rare, and I realized that Eclipse and the Red Eyed beast have to be connected...but more than that I realized they were all about stealth and helping out the Senshi even though the Beast was totally fighting the beast. Well, listen to this,” she laughs to herself as the two of you come to the cafeteria checkout, “What, oh shoot I don’t have a student card here, do they take cash...where did I get this food?”

“I’ve got this,” you flash her your newly meal permissible Infinity Academy access card, “Lets continue this after we sit,”

She nods, mutely. Scrutinizing you carefully. Its impressive that she connected the Red Eyed Beast and Eclipse, but she had earlier called Eclipse out as Sailor Moon.

“Anyway,” she explains as she sets her tray down rather hard at the out of the way dining table you chose, with comfy booth seating, “I think the Queen was this tube lady who also had red eyes that I saw when Sailor Moon, our Sailor Moon not the fourth one, made me human again with Osaka-san when they were skulking around Magician’s lair,”

She pauses, as she opens her sandwich and you unseal and take a sip from your juice cup.

“Though I imagine you knew all about that. That it was going to be secreted away somewhere safe,”

“Don’t imply what you aren’t willing to say, Umeki-san,” you sigh and wonder just how on target she is tonight, “Just say it,”

She nods firmly and stands, bitten sandwich in hand.

“Alright, our Sailor Moon is Eclipse is the Red Eyed Beast, and you,” she states clearly to you before kicking a foot up and slamming it down on the table and pointing her free hand at you, “are the key to this, the bad guys where trying to remake the old queen but after I got turned back to human figured out the truth which explains why monsters keep showing up near you now,”

She sits back down and leans in conspiratorially. Given how she looks right now you would almost call it an intimate lean toward you over a meal, though her delivery completely breaks the illusion.

“That you’re the queen reincarnated!”

Staring across the table at the tall but slight classmate, you find yourself laughing. It is not particularly hard or long, but you laugh at her accusation all the same. How, she is so impressively close to this but at the same time so far off.

Finding the end of this hilarity, you sigh only to guffaw again into how funny this is. It takes a bit to calm down, and when you finally look back up at her, she is looking at you with some concern.

“Was that a no?” she wonders, “Because if you don’t believe me I could-”

“It’s not that,” you wave it off and unwrap your sandwich, “Not quite, Umeki. Tell you what, I'm going to eat now. While I do that, I want you to think very carefully about whether all this danger and chaos is something you actually want to deal with on a regular basis before I even begin to respond to that,”

“But,” she starts and you hush her with a glare while taking a bite.

The two of you eat silently for a few moments. She’s watching you, more than that she’s confident. A drive and expression that better match her current appearance to her usual stuttering and scrambling reaching.

It’s clear on her face that she’s thinking. Drinking in everything between the two of your right now in fact, she knows there is more to all of this just out of her reach. She knows that you seem to know exactly what’s going on.

“You don’t want me getting hurt, is that it?” she interrupts before either of you are finished.

You don’t respond as she starts laughing to herself.

“You actually give a damn about me!” she is beaming now, a wide smile suddenly punctuated by tears, “That’s friendship and this is a great feeling,”

“Umeki…” you sigh, “Say, if we’re going to be talking we’re eating, care to fill me in on what happened with Amazonite?”

“Huh, oh. Just some stuff. She was wearing a sweat suit over by Korakuen Hall,” she shrugs.

“In the Big Egg complex?” you question, the place is kind of famous.

That’s the arena where they host some high profile martial arts tournaments, professional wrestling events, and-

“Yeah, no idea what she was up to, but we ran into each other and she totally didn’t recognize me,” she boasts, “Chatted her up, all sly like. She probably thought I mistook her for someone else, and she was a bit awkward,”

-boxing tournaments.
>>
>>685105

“Well, what did you learn,” you question, a bit distracted.

“That she thinks fighting is beautiful for how quickly it runs through the gamut of emotions,” she shrugs as if it’s an afterthought, “So she probably has a plan to make some boxer a monster or harvest emotions from a crowd watching a fight,”

“That seems pretty damn important,” you note.

“I had more pressing concerns,” she huffs and downs her juice, “speaking of which, I thought about it,”

Shoot, your sandwich is gone. You thought this would buy you more time.

“And you know what,” she reasons, “I think I’ve lived more in the past few days than I have in my entire life. The world is real, people are real, and I’m there. I’m there and it’s not on a page or through a screen and…”

She goes quiet and meets your gaze with fiery resolution.

“So yeah, this is something I actually want to deal with,”

You aren’t sure if you should smile or frown. She wants this, and you know how mature she is under her fangirl frame when it comes to things like death and risk. Is this out of an unquenchable curiosity or a genuine drive to make sense of things in her life.

Well, she asked for it and you are impressed by her abilities...how do you offer her this job and task? Tell her the story of Elysion and the Silver Millenium first? Tell her she’s close and that your dad is the reincarnation of Prince Endymion? Maybe she learned that name? Maybe just explained yourself as Sailor Moon, Eclipse, or Red Eyes...or go somewhere secluded like the hidden elevator and show don’t tell.

How do you do this? There are so many ways and you can scarcely imagine how Saori Umeki would lose composure over different means of revelation, and you want to see them.

>How the hell do you want to do this?
>>
>>685112
Yes I am Red Eyes, but Eclipse and I are two separate people. All the spooky powers are from a failed attempt at turning me into a monster.
>>

Tell her how, on what she spoke of today, she was scarily spot-on outside of her last theory. She's got skill.
Before we give her the full rundown, ask her to look us in the Eyes and take one more shot.

>>685279
How about elevator to lab and give her a another guess on the ride down the rabbit hole. Then open up with full disclosure. At this point it is all in or lock her in a closest until we can MiB her memory. Hope not to do that.
>>
At first, you want to ask her to look one last time. Just stare into her eyes and see if she makes the final connection. It’s so close and right in front of her...but no.

You aren’t doing that, nor are you going to lie to her. There is a wealth of personal details that you’re going to leave out for now, not that you don’t doubt her ability to suss them out on her own time. However the truth of thing won’t be revealed here, out in the open.

There is privacy in the secret elevator. No need to ride it, just be inside it.

“Come along,” you pick up your tray and head first toward a wastebasket and then the door.

“Hey, where are we even going?” she questions and hurries after you through the sliding doors.

“Somewhere I trust. You want to know the truth, from top to bottom?” you say evenly as she catches up to you by virtue of a longer gait.

“Well, yeah,” she says.

“Then it’s safer if I tell you,” you explain as you reveal the secret elevator.

“Where does this lead?” she questions, hesitant to get in.

“Down, but I’m not taking it for that. Just using it as a private place to talk,” you explain, and after a loud gulp she gets in with you.

She leaps with a squeak when the doors slide closed behind her.

And you unveil in order the truth of things to her. Starting with the tale of Elysion, its truth and not whatever disjointed version she learned when she was a weapon f the enemy. The stewardship of the Golden Crystal. The Silver Millennium. You become more detailed recounting the story of Endymion and Serenity, and then of Beryl. Of Metallia. Of Chaos and the fall. Of Queen Serenity’s spell of reincarnation.

“In their new lives, unaware of who she really was, Princess Serenity became the first Sailor Moon to fight the resurgent forces of Beryl who had also reincarnated in this era. Meanwhile even more uncertain of his identity, Endymion became Tuxedo Mask and sought his answers,” you say as you lean against the wall of the elevator.

“How do you know that,” she questions, a more serious tone to her voice, unafraid.

You glance up to her, somberly and perhaps wistfully.

“They were my bed time stories,” you think with a nostalgic smile, “Though mom never really cops to it, dad said the two of them fought all the time when they met this time around. Before they knew,”

Saori Umeki is quiet. Regarding you with a momentary confusion before her eyes dart wide. Then down askance, searching as she murmurs something strange and then crosses her arms. She uncrosses them long enough to raise a finger to you, a request for a minute as her other hand massages her temples. Multiple times she tries to say something, but it dies in her throat or gets caught in her throat.
>>
>>685708

“You saved me,” she finally gets out as her arms fall flat to her side and her body scrunches and tenses up before it springs forward in uncoiling force as she invades your personal space first to shake your shoulders and then to hug you, “You saved us all so many times! You suplexed a freaking clown car! And- wait...then during graduation...okay that’s a bit darker in context,”

She pushes off to her gangly arm’s length away, still holding onto your shoulders, and is about to say it when you stop her.

“I don’t like being called that these days, and I don’t want to recount exactly why I quit right now,” you explain tersely, because she’ll likely hear it from any of the others, “Saori Umeki, there is no coven and I’m no witch. There is a court, and if we’re facing these things I want to ask you to be my spymaster,”

She won’t be a Knight, and as of yet you don’t have any magic to suddenly bestow upon her, but armed with knowledge and direction she’ll be safer than she has been operating on her own.

“Yes!” her response is emphatic and immediate, so you catch her up on the broader scope of things now and who and what is on the board of conflict.

“This is all important,” you finish as your phone stirs, your father has arrived, “So I need you to keep it all secret,”

“Pah!” she scoffs, “Just you watch...say, do I get a cool uniform or something?”

“Like, I was going to make some kind of standard military style outfit for anyone who isn’t a knight,” you confess, “It’s just an idea, barely on the drawing board,”

“Doesn’t sound very spy-like,” she observes.

“Well what did you have in mind?” you question and regret it as a wide and sinister smile begins to cross Saori Umeki’s face, the kind of smile where you can feel the pages to illicit books being turned.

“No,” you respond flatly before she can speak.

As you send her off home, walking her to the edge of the campus, the two of you talk. Saori does express one concern, about how this would affect your status as friends. It doesn’t, not really. You genuinely like her, even if she can be exasperating sometimes. In turn, she admits that you could be pretty cool too sometimes. It is far too late in the game for her to try to establish herself as the tsun type, and you let her know that.

Though you do chat a bit about the books you lent her, and the books she in turn lent you. It's a very stilted conversation and it seems to amuse her greatly.
>>
>>685712

You missed the explanation of things to your father about the child, but you helped him load the still sleeping Koyomi in the car. Tomoe-sensei had a carseat ready and some temporary supplies for the night to bring the yet named child home.

“Shouldn’t her first night be under more medicinal watch?” he questions.

“She’s obnoxiously healthy...and I can’t think of anywhere else that she needs to be now more than home,” Tomoe-sensei responds as she sets the baby bag into the trunk, “with family,”

He doesn’t protest to that argument.

The ride home is quiet and surprisingly quick. Your father doesn’t press you much about the day, just observing it must have been a busy one. And, as you arrive home, that he’s proud of both you and Koyomi for how you both handled yourselves today.

Your sister is of course still dead to the world in slumber.

It isn’t long before you get home, just a little after dinner time would be if you hadn’t already eaten. Deciding to sit in the garden for a bit, you consider your phone and what to do next.

Mythic Leadership, though Art would prefer we didn't go into d20 Leadership mechanics. The mythic tier part was the only part that interested me though. Though the big thing that would do is help protect from mythic effects and a surge, rather than a big boost.

Opening your phone, you call Yoshi. As it rings you consider that your dad is in the house with the yet named baby. Maybe it won’t be a good idea to have him come over to the house for this talk.

Taking a deep breath, you have a brief pang of anxiety before he picks up and your mind races to a perfect neutral ground. If you’re going to tell Yoshi the truth, it might be better to have visual aids.

“Mikage,” he sounds a touch anxious or nervous over the line as well, “Hey,”

“Yoshi, we aren’t doing this at my place,” you open your half of the conversation directly, “I want you to meet me in the athletic field between the schools, at the statues,”

You don’t have to specify which schools. At least you think you shouldn’t. It’s late enough now that the two of you shouldn’t have any problems getting onto school grounds or being spotted by anyone.

It’s dark out now as you wait for his response, and you aren’t sure if you can hear his breath catch in his throat or if you’re imagining it.

“I’ll be there, right away,” he says quickly and the line goes quiet.

Well, you better set off as well. You aren’t so tired that you can’t run, and you’ll heal up when you sleep tonight. Leaving the garden behind, you charge off into the night along familiar paths.

Running hard, and along the same path you took that night, it isn’t long before you come to both school gates. Where you stopped that night as you drifted away from that place, when you started running.

Even as you’ve faced these things, and knowing what you know now, you aren’t sure if you’ve ever stopped running.

Pulling yourself over the fence, you land easily in the junior high court yard. Walking through the athletic field where they first set the temporary bleachers and stage for graduation. There is a chill to the night air, not as cold as the arcade became earlier, but especially noticeable without any sunlight.

And despite the chill and the dark, you can see everything clearly. Not just as it is now, but as it was then. Where Kairi as a monster lifted you into the air, where you fell, and where you rolled away to hide that you could transform and fight.

Where you fought, you come to a stop and glance over to the center of the field. Three statues. Three blank faces look out over the world.

Sailor Moon. Those that came before you and you yourself. What would the girl you were think of you now. Closing in on the statue, you set your hand upon the base. Since they added you to the lineup here you’ve avoided actually coming out to closely look at the statue.
>>
>>686747

Its blank face strikes you as you look over to where you remember you Kairi falling after you healed her from her monstrous state as Final Act.

Her words, pleading you to save her father stick to your heart as the other students begin rising up to see if everything was over. Faces looking on in awe, fear, and hope. You remember them all so clearly, even if this isn’t what you came here for. Though even among these phantom memories you are no longer alone.

“Mikage,” your eyes fall on Yoshi, not quite standing where he was that day, but you see him as he was and as he is.

Then looking for you in worry after the fight.

You stand there before him, in the shadow of the statues of your mother, your sister, and yourself. He doesn’t know that.

“Yoshi,” you say and stand there.

As you requested, he closes the distance to meet you before the statue. Your earlier conversation hangs in the air as you consider just what you want to talk about. Expressing your worry about what he’d think of you if he knew the truth.

Which truth? He already knew you weren’t entirely human anymore. He already knew you were the Red Eyed Beast, but what would he think about you being Sailor Moon? What would he think if you told him about your perceived failure? What you thought you did.

He stands there, in front of you, expectant but quiet. His feelings are known, so are your own.

There is one more layer to my life. One I was afraid to tell you. Fear of dragging you deeper into the danger and of revealing the secrets of others, and the bigger fear of what you'd think.

"I kind of went to shit after that. Mental break plus magic equals mildly magical personality bits, I guess? Fuck it, it's complicated. You've met the Beast. There are a few more."
>Dismiss the Beast.
>Invoke the Mantle of Eclipse.
"I tried again, after so long. I pulled on the other half of my legacy after I passed on Sailor Moon. Someone was in trouble right in front of me, and I couldn't turn away.
>Dismiss Eclipse.
"I didn't know who I was for a long time after that. I was scared of betraying anyone, of my powers, of everything. Well, everything but actually being in danger myself. I turned away from you and everyone else. I stopped reaching out because I was scared of what else I'd have to sacrifice if I kept it up . . . and in the end, wound up sacrificing it all the same."
Reach out your hand.
"I'm in a different world, Yoshi. I can't leave it. It's not who I am to turn my back anymore. But . . . I think I'm beginning to realize that I don't need or deserve to be alone. Will you forgive me?"
Wait for his response.

Well, it’s time to see how his feelings weather the truth.

“There is one more layer to my life. One I was afraid to tell you. Fear of dragging you deeper into the danger and of revealing the secrets of others,” you open up as you find yourself mimicking your little sister’s nervous tick but done behind your back as you look away, “and the bigger fear of what you'd think,”

“Mikage, please. Whatever it is you’re afraid of, it’ll be okay,” he offers as he places a tentative hand on your shoulder.

“How can you say that, Yoshi?” you murmur, this is so stressful.

“Because I have to believe that,” he assures.

You are quiet for a moment, and release your tugging on your own pigtails as your arms wrap instead across your waist.

Hell or high water. Without immediate context, what you thought was worst about yourself. What shut you down. Will this scare him away, will he look at your with disgust or fear? Will he stay.

“I thought I was a murderer,” you brush past him and kneel down where you steadied Kairi after you brought her back from the Final Act so long ago.

He follows you, though you don’t know what he’s thinking because you can’t see his face. Right behind you as your knees bounce on the porous filler substance used in the running track that has since been placed over that spot.

“That I failed to keep my promise to Kairi. After Final Act, there was one more fight to win and...I thought I killed her father,” you cry this part, clearly and measured so not to be too loud, “I promised her I would save him, it’s the first thing she thought of when she was Kairi again,”

You pitch forward and turn away, afraid, as he comes up alongside you instead. Flinching as his hand rests on your back, is he trying to be comforting?

“I don’t understand,” he questions, now sitting on the track field beside you, “No one could find you after the smoke cleared...after she let you go I thought you ran?”

“I was here, Yoshi, right here” you sob a bit, “I didn’t leave until the fight was done, I didn’t leave until I finished it…”
>>
>>687054

You finally turn to face him, and it appears that what you said has him confused. He isn’t looking at you, but he’s turned to look back at the statue. He never paid the statues much mind when you were younger, and you don’t know if he has since they added the third. Since they added you.

Yoshi turns back to you.

“You’re…” he stops, that realization is not as important to him as what’s in front of him, “What happened to you?”

“Well, I kind of went to shit after that. You saw some of that, though mental break plus magic equals mildly magical personality bits, I guess? I don’t even know. Fuck it, it's complicated. You've met the Beast. There are a few more." you groan as his hands steady your shoulders and pull you back up from the track, so you’re kneeling again.

“So, this is what you meant about keeping some of your secrets,” he says calmly as he stands and tries to help you up as well.

“Yeah, there are more details to all this, but I can’t right now,” you explain, getting up off the ground.

This topic, explaining it has felt to a point routine. Telling Yoshi, it was hard again.

“Then you don’t need to,” he says solemnly.

Still there.

>”Does this change how you feel, how you see me?”

On unsteady feet, you tense up and throw your arms around Yoshi. Resting your chin on his shoulder while one arm wraps around his other shoulder, and your other still pulls around the back of his waist. His response is immediate, his stance widens a bit to provide you both with stability. Arms encircle you around the middle and try both to hold you close and to hold you up.

Your eyes are shut as you choke back a sob. A longer conversation looms ahead about the specifics of some things, and about why you have nothing to fear from the Senshi. You were Sailor Moon, and something terrible happened. He’ll know why you thought you’d killed, he’ll know how you discovered the truth. He’ll know why you’re doing everything now after shutting down for so long.

Just, not right now. Right now there is just this embrace, this closeness. You almost want to kiss him, explain to him how close he’ll be to danger in your presence, and give him every possible out from both being around you and being drawn further in.

That’s for later.

Everything else is for later, because he’s still here.

Opening your eyes, you look over at the the statue. Your statue. Even though there is no face, you see it. Maybe the person you were would be proud of you for coming so far after falling so hard. No, as you tighten your grip on Yoshi, you know she would be. You know because even if you’re a mess right now you are proud of how far you’ve managed to come so quickly.

Proud, proud and tired.

Still, you hold the hug for a little longer. Soaking both the comfort and attention.

Long enough to feel like it’s getting late. And you both have class tomorrow.

With that in mind, and within your own mounting fatigue, you make a request among the quiet the two of you share.

“Would you like to walk me home?” as you loosen your taught and at one point desperate hold.

As you disengage from one another, though still within close reach and light contact, he nods in the dark. Probably unable to read your face as you can make out every detail of his perfectly despite the dark.

“Yes, I would like that,” he smiles and adjusts his glasses.

For the sake of ease, you help one another with the wall and fence. Side by side you move close through the dark streets broken up by lamps and yard lights amid suburban pedestrian streets. There is a calm quiet as you wonder what lies ahead.

When you are fully rested and restored, you’ll need to make arrangements to go after Hanako. The others will have important data for you in the morning and you can make plans then. And besides that there is also the matter of what Amazonite is up to, and your worry that it might coincide with Sasha’s tournament. To say nothing of your lingering entry test into the enemy’s ranks.

Well, you have your allies and your support base cemented now. Even if the generals have been empowered you’re confident that everyone working together can bring them down. They can’t shake what you’ve done to rebuild yourself, and you lean into Yoshi as you walk together realizing that perhaps you’ll prove stronger than even they could prepare for.

He glances over to you, threading an arm under your hair and across your shoulders. Retreading together the common path between your home and the schools, there is a sudden calm to things. Your life. As though you’re able to let go of some value of urgency.

“Would you like to have lunch with me tomorrow?” he asks after a moment of this, “In class or on the roof, whichever you’d find more comfortable,”

You think on it a moment.

“I would, but I’m almost certain lunch is going to be a bit of a war council,” you sigh, “When things get less hectic we need a real date...or just a chance to do nothing together,”

He seems to think on that, probably taking stock of what you have said and the general company you keep.

“I’ll keep my distance so not to intrude,” he replies.

“Well, there are some details you should probably know. That might be a good time to hear them,” you suggest, “If you want to and if everyone is okay with it,”

“Okay, so we’ll see about that tomorrow,”

The two of you continue on in comfort and fall into a companionable silence. Did you expect him to run when confronted with things, or just be the same Yoshi you’ve known? It doesn’t matter.
>>
>>687415

When finally home, you bid him goodnight, and he does the same. Parting hopefully, you feel light as you swing around the house to the backyard where you left the door unlocked in the garden.

There, you again sit on the stone backless bench and look up at the stars. In awe of them or searching for your mother for some measure of advice, you are not certain which as you look upon the moon in happiness and longing.

Taking out your phone, you shoot a message to Midori as you go inside and lock the door behind you. Asking after how things went tonight, considering she was going to be the primary point of contact with Hanako.

Her response comes by the time you make it upstairs, toned in a fairly understandable veil.

‘Everyone is fine, no fight, Flowers is being a real SHADY bitch who is past due for an attitude adjustment, maybe take her out for a bite and introduce her to your sister, talk more in the morning,’

That doesn’t bode well.

Thanks for the thread, /qst/ and fellow /tg/ migrants.

Thanks for running!

Gotta admit I was worried mad science man would make a move while we were out. Lack of exploded home is reassuring.
Thought we were doing dream stuff tonight?
>>
>>687455
We still might, just not a big dream mission. Maybe visit Dream Elysium, visit the Trio. While we seem to have a knack for it we don't have a lot of practice, and honestly I'd love to spend at least one night poking around the the time capsule of the the lost Kingdom.
>>
>>687461
Sounds both fun and like it may lead to plot hooks. Speaking of the Trio, according to the character write-up, they're supposed to be copies and the real ones are reincarnated, which makes you wonder where said reincarnations might be?
>>
>>687649
I thought they were three animals turned into people temporarily by an enemy to serve them, and then changed permanently by Neo-Serenity?
>>
>>688021
No, in the manga they were straight up killed by the Senshi as I recall.

In the anime they discovered the truth, were betrayed by the dead moon circus, and were given dreams by Helios that they may exist in his realm and eventually reincarnate as humans.
>>

Managed to blend the two in my memories.

So how about a crafting to do list?
Uniform plus hat of disguise functionality for Saori.
Sasha, uniform plus whatever defensive measures he'll let us get away with. Was going to suggest amulet of natural attacks type effect, but I'm not sure his pride will allow for that yet.
Yoshi.. I have little experience with bards, any suggestions?
The Knights, I'd like to get them some Armor Class boosts. Perhaps a light cocktail of natural armor and deflection bonuses to bolster things?
Develop magical treatment for Venus. Cure might take a bit, but an effective treatment could be a wondrous tattoo hidden under her hair like the stitches that casts Heal once a month or so on her.
An item for Naru that could do Daybreak Arrows in one capacity or another.
Koyomi, a sprinkles dispenser that never runs out.
A device that would allow me to fall asleep instead of rambling out ideas.
>>
Wasn't there talk of checking out Point D sometime either to look for ancient Earth stuff, check it for sign of the Enemy, or maybe cleanse/claim it? Was that still a thing?

Awhile a ago, though now that I think of it, that seems like a great place to find either a pretty major node or a geometrically important cluster of them.

If I can pump out a thread tomorrow it will be a miracle. Drinking at a friend's housewarming for a new nerd house. Someone told me things I did not know about the past and tongues held on facts and events and then others profusely apologized for it and when I told them it was okay sent another to try and contextualize but I wasn't mad or offended and fuckity fuck fuck leave me alone all of you are too drunk and I am not nearly drunk enough and I'm gonna drink the last of this bottle of Midori and try a d decompress alone outside on the porch whistling Moonlight Den..moonlight den....the first theme and the fall in love with the new moon at at full moon alone on this deck that is unlit and high as fuck why is the backyard so much lower than the front and fuuuuuuuck why are my closer friends stuck in an extended politics discussion I need to vent but that isn't going to end any time soon and Jesus fucking fuck he's sitting down opposite of me again to try and take my temperature and fuck I need a drink and I appreciate their concern but of my god I am clearly staring at my phone typing stuff and take a damn social clue.

Fuck I am gonna bust out my lappy and start work because I got household cleaning to do first tomorrow when I get home so if I have time maybe a thread tomorrow.

Art, hold still.

Usagi, do it!

I am awake, sober, hydrated, and not hung over. Got an hour plus drive home ahead and a few hours of cleaning. I did not prewrite anything but my sleep schedule is a touch borked so I may yet be up late tonight so we'll see what happens.

I'm not unhappy. The morning after it was quite hilarious and it ultimately doesn't affect anything. Was still so wiped so definitely no thread today. I appreciate your attempts to cheer me up and I apologize for drunk posting in the lingering thread.

Beep boop is still fun to say, and I highly recommend it for all occasions.

Also fun to go back and find a knot of images and remember you saved them for a random quest related reason. Like gemstones because Shitennou.
