Future Naruto Quest

This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, and the villages you know and love are largely the same.

However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and the Main Series.

You are playing as Kuro Nijiiroh, a Hidden Leaf Chunin of twelve years. You’re a member of Hōōmaru Tachibana’s Team Seven, along with your teammates, Hakurin Hyuga, and Jimmaru ████ Uchiha. Your family consists of your older sister, an ANBU Black Ops, Shirou; your mother, the restaurateur Ki; and your father, a Hand Seals Specializing Tokubetsu Jounin.

Last Quest, you dealt with the fallout from the Chunin Exams, got promoted, and prepared for your first mission as a chunin.
>>
Will be lurking, have fun guys
>>
I don't see an archive of the last thread.
>>
You wake up on the morning of your first mission as a chunin ready for the new experience, and eager to see who your partner on this mission will be. You say your farewells to your parents, sister, and cousin as you prepare your things for what should be, at most, a three day mission. You bring a few kunai and shuriken, a roll of explosive tags, and your staff. Along with some minute ramen for food, inspired by the night you spent in the monument during the Second Chunin Exam.

You don't rush to the Village Gate, instead, you take your time, figuring you have time before you're due to meet there.

When you do get to the Gate, you find a girl there, seemingly waiting. She's an average-height blonde of average build, wearing a flak jacket and a red cap with buttons on it.

You greet her, telling her your name, and ask her if she's on the same mission as you are. She introduces herself as Mitasu Keimu, extending her hand for you to shake it, which you do. After your introductions are complete, she picks up a parcel wrapped in brown paper and twine off the ground, asking if you're ready to go.

You wondered why a delivery mission was B-ranked, but you figure it's because you're delivering it to a World Congress village during the Chunin Exams. She puts the parcel into a messenger bag she's carrying, neither of you aware of the contents.

The first leg of your journey, on the road between the Villages, is quick, though you don't talk much, with your partner either playing some game or messaging someone.

Eventually, you come to a crossroads of a sort, you could either take the forest for the rest of the way and cross the border covertly, or go on the road and hope they don't question the parcel.

You tell Mitasu that you should go off the road for the rest of the way into the Land of Lakes. She puffs out her cheeks, crosses her arms, and exhales grumpily, before reluctantly agreeing. The rest of your journey is spent, again, in quietness, though this time, your travelling partner seems to be purposefully snubbing you.

You reach the border with the Land of Lakes by nightfall, unsure whether or not you should continue on while it's dark out.

You tell Mitasu that you think it would be best to camp out in the woods tonight, and cross the border in the morning. Arriving somewhere populated in the Land of Lakes would be far less suspicious than arriving there in the dead of night.

Again, she huffily agrees, before producing a bedroll for herself. You roll out your own, and see that she's also erecting a tent. You see that there's a scroll she's pulling all this out of, the wrapping of which is orange and covered in hamsters.

You both change into civilian clothes, and cross the border with surprisingly little trouble. After a couple hours of travel, you come across a small village, that doesn't look like it's joined this century aside from some power lines. Despite the Land's name, the weather is surprisingly clear.

You pass through this village, and another two like it on your way to the Village Hidden in the Rain. In contrast to the other villages in the Land of Lakes, the Hidden Rain itself is one of the most industrialized and modern cities in the world. It also has good security on any of the three bridges that let people in and out of the sprawling city.

You and your mission partner approach the entrance to the bridge closest to you, the gate guard checking people's papers, and either letting them through or turning them back.

You give the guards your falsified papers, which they accept, and when you hand them your bags to search through, you make sure to make contact with them, trying to interrupt their chakra systems and initiate a contact genjutsu.

You fail. But when they search Mitasu's bags, they don't find the parcel, or any weapons. You sealed your weapons as well, but nothing else. The guards eventually wave you through, not opening Mitasu's scroll when she tells them it's a thermos.

When you find a secluded alleyway, Mitasu tells you she'll unseal the package, and you can deliver it. She wants to check out the video arcade scene here.

>>695698
>I had a thought of not absorbing or drinking anyone until the final battle with Perfect Cell.
You would start out at/below Roshi/Chun level in the first arc, so you would kind of need to drink/absorb. I was thinking for a good mechanic, you would have to absorb at least one member of a race to gain their traits. i.e. Absorb a Saiyan for Zenkai, absorb a Namekian for regeneration.

You decide to take a step out of your comfort zone, and instead of exploring the higher-end part of the village, or the eateries, you decide to explore the lower-income parts of the village.

Taking off from your delivery location, you head in the opposite direction of the way you came, deeper into the village, both literally and figuratively. You don't see or experience anything spectacular, there aren't even many people in the streets.

Your experience is rather boring, and there's nothing of note about the seedy part of town. Eventually you just head back to find Mitasu, and find her in a video-arcade, competing online against someone in some kind of VR machine.

You let her finish her game, which turns out to be a bad idea, as she's not done for at least another forty-five minutes. When she finally finishes, she doesn't look happy, and you're able to see her screen for a short time.

Her opponent's score is higher than her's, and whoever it was left a message, "better luck next time rival :3"

She tells you that she's ready to go back if you are.

Nah. We'll have a full-metal breakdown, and cry in the slums for a while. Shirou will hear about it, and disown us.
>>
>>695906
When you step into the pod of the game, you promise that you'll show Mitasu's alleged rival how it feels to lose. You get a token from her and insert it into the machine, putting on the headset accompanying it. Immediately, whatever kind of VR-enhancing motion motor that rocks the pod back and forth and side to side jerks you forward, slamming your head into the screen, breaking both it and the headset. It also causes you to black out just long enough to be taken out of the machine by Mitasu, and wake up shortly after with the taste of blood in your mouth and wet feeling grace your upper lip and the inside of your nose.

Your partner helps you out of the arcade, while in your delirium you note that she also talks down the manager from making you pay for it. Outside, she asks if you want to go to as hospital or something, or try to get back to the Leaf as soon as possible.

You tell her you're fine, and you'll just walk it off. That's what you want to tell her anyway. Instead you slur something at Mitasu, then promptly pass out. When you wake up, you're lying in a hotel room, with your partner standing over you, hands coming back to her sides after extending them over you.

"Thank God, Kuro," she says with a sigh of relief, "I didn't want to check you into the hospital, because of the mission, so I had to heal you myself, I hope you understand."

You tell her that you do, and mention that your head still hurts.

"I was only really able to deal with the outer damage, though I managed to bring the swelling down." You thank the older girl. "Oh, and you have a lot of messages and missed calls, if you want to take a look at that."

Well everyone in wargles thread i think 2 ago we where all discussing heavy use of OC's and someone said how this one had them be too bland

Someone refuted that its because its so heavy on OC's because of the setting

Wargle responded along with others that thats not really true because boruto quest is mostly OC's and that manages to do that well

I'll try and find it in a bit. To be fair there have been many comments about the use of side characters in this quest anyway so it shouldnt be a surprise.

I thought we were all in agreement (as much as agreement can be had on this site) that Hakurin was at least a direct competitor for best girl status.
What happened to that?

I still feel like we should try talking to the Ryouko knock off and find out how she actually is as a person and at least spend some time with Princess Patch though.
>>
>>696487
We were pursuing Hakurin, but then she found out that we interfered in her Chunin exam match and had her lose so she wanted some time to process all this. Incidentally having her lose her match is the reason we got promoted, which she does not know yet.
>>
>>696425
>>696429
Good proof
Though it's a lot easier for Wargle to write his characters, since he's able to use characters that are already defined, rather than take a mix of characteristics from other anime/imagination. Not to say anything of Wargle's writing skills, there's just a difference story style I suppose.
tl;dr follow what you enjoy rather than whinging about it.
>>696472
Things happened, not necessarily good things but things nonetheless
>>696487
As has been stated multiple times before, Kuro is 12, with most of his friends being around that age bracket. Perceptions change quickly
>>
>>696509
We might wanna leave that bit out or not.
I'd say she's a big enough girl to handle the truth, but, it's probably the sort of conversation we should have in person and private.

And this doesn't mean she isn't worth pursuing, this just means she got frustrated.
Which is understandable.
But then that's just my two cents.
>>
>>696512
Country said it'd lock us out of the Hakuroute. But we'd be being honest.
>>
>>696516
Ah.
Well... That's something to think about.
Maybe not right now, but we should definitely check in on her in person regardless.

Whatever else she might be she's our friend and teammate first I think.
And we look out for our friends.

By which I mean Kuro.
>>
>>696524
He's sort of in need of a doctor right now
I'm sure Kuro would tell his friend the truth, the only bad habit he's close to developing is alcoholism
>>
>>696527
Well it's not like knowing why Kuro was promoted, specifically, is important to her.
If she says it is and asks directly, then we should tell her.
But otherwise I think this is something of a non-issue.
>>
>>696536
Basically. We'll just find out next run.
>>
>>696511

>>696589
We should tell her directly and properly. I just hope it doesn't push her away more.
>>
>>696563
Here's what you do if you don't like the quest so much that you quit following.
Don't make a big deal of it. Don't act like everything else is vastly superior just because you don't like it. Don't keep coming back. Don't keep coming just to proclaim that we're all shit for liking a quest that you believe is shit. Don't then try to use another QM to justify your point of view when he doesn't really want to get involved and only said what he did so in the privacy of his own thread/quest.

Take this as a guide to not be a cunt when quitting quests, and also a challenge to write your own quest so you might actually prove that you know better than a QM when it comes to writing characters.

Looking through your notifications, you have a number of missed calls and unread messages. Most of the messages are from Hakurin, while one call is from Baratsuchi, and the other is from the unknown number. Your head still aches, and you're not sure this is the best time for this.

You read Hakurin's messages first. All of them share pretty much the same basic gist, asking you to answer and telling you she's ready to talk. To your relief, the tone of the later ones isn't angry so much as worried.

Baratsuchi's message just tells you that it's Baratsuchi, if you didn't recognize the number from her call.

Baratsuchi's call is an invitation for you to treat her to your mother's restaurant. She specifies at least four times that it isn't a date, she just wants to know the ins-and-outs of one of the Hidden Leaf's finest eateries, at the end, she mentions who she is.

The final message is from the Mist team, Tenburo specifically, asking if you would treat his team to your mother's restaurant, telling you it's Kaya's request when she gets better.

You message Hakurin back that you were just a little busy on a mission. She responds quickly, just requesting you see her as quickly as you can when you get back. That worries you, the message you read from her felt cold somehow, and disconnected. You shake yourself out of that, then respond to the others.

You tell Baratsuchi that that would be nice, leaving a message for her telling her you'll be back in two days. You tell Tenburo the same, but replacing 'nice' with 'fun' and telling him you'll be back in three days. It's then that you notice it's just before midnight.

You manage to stand, and tell Mitasu to get some sleep, you can keep watch for the rest of the night, you already got enough sleep. She reluctantly agrees, and puts on that hood from before before curling up in the other bed.

It turns out you spending the night awake, and missing out on a good eight hours of sleep was in vain, nothing of note happened overnight, aside from some vulgar language and sleep talking about "noobs" in your mission partner's sleep.

When she wakes up, she asks if you want to go as soon as possible, or get in a quick nap.

Bid Mitasu farewell, and tell her to meet you at the missions office in three days, you need to get some actual medical attention.

You get to the hospital after messaging your parents about where you would be, promising to be home by morning. You don't have to wait long at all, there aren't any other ninja waiting for treatment. The doctor takes you in, and after a number of boring tests, determines that you're concussed. He recommends you take a week off of ninja work, and wait a month before taking anything more than a D-rank mission.

It's later at night now, but you thank him and head out.

You head out of the hospital and towards the Hyuga Compound. It doesn't take too long at night, on nearly-empty streets lit by streetlamps, but you are feeling particularly tired.

You reach the Hyuga compound at nearly midnight, and the weary and suspicious Hyuga chunin on gate duty stops you, questioning you about why you're here so late. You tell him that you need to talk to Hakurin, it's very important. You evidently somehow sway him.

You reach the house Hakurin lives in with little more trouble.

You take the seat across from her as she indicated and wait for her to speak. It is a bit chilly out, so having the kotatsu is nice, it would be nice if your family had one, but your family never replaced theirs after Shirou broke it.

Hakurin takes another sip of her tea, before beginning. "Kuro, I'm sorry for how I handled this, and I wanted to congratulate you for becoming a chunin." She takes another sip, "And despite some..." she thinks for a second, "resentment I had, I know that you did it for my safety, I heard that girl from the Mist can't even eat solid food for a month, and that boy he fought died." She looks down at her hands, "Can you believe I was that close to something terrible happening to me Kuro?" She stops you from answering, "Of course you can, that's why you cheated for me..." But what's wrong with the naïve girl who threw sand in her teammate's one good eye to avoid a light sparring session?

>Nobody likes Haiiro or Hyaku
Guess all that liking Momo and DFC/loli was a lie then.
>>
>>698982
They're both actually kind of annoying

So was Momo.
>>
>>698992
You aren't really wrong, Momo was attention starved, Hyaku is an over entitled ojou/tsundere in the making and Haiiro has delusional ideals.
>>
>>698982
I like Haiiro but not that way and Hakurin > Hyaku.
>>698992
She was endearing in her earnestness. Not even a Momofag
>>
>>698733
1)Shirou
2)Haiiro
3)Sensei
4-5)Whoever's the most insane out of Hakurin, Himarase, Eyepach, or Momo's vengeful yandere ghost
>>
Seriously, haunting/nightmares brought on by Momo's ghost when?
>>
>>698997
>Haiiro has delusional ideals
You know you can fix that right, you just need to influence her more than your even more delusional, jaded sister.
>>699003
>Whoever's the most insane out of Hakurin, Himarase, Eyepach
Hakurin is pretty stable. Himarase is just thirsty. Baratsuchi is also pretty stable, but she is more fragile than the others.
>>699020
Death is a part of ninja life, so probably never.
>>698998
>>698997
I know Momo had a certain charm. That you won't find at the bottom of a bottle, glass, can, keg, or partyball.
>>
>>699033
>won't find at the bottom of a bottle, glass, can, keg, or partyball
Well, each bottle is different, so we should keep looking
>>
>>699033
I'm fine letting Shirou ruin that particular child.
>spoiler
We can try though
>>
>>699033
If we drink enough we'll find her in the afterlife.
Out of all the waifus not related to us, which one would be easiest to drive to insanity? For purely hypothetical, academic interest of course.
>>
>>699057
Kimure if you tried to persue her, I suppose. Considering what you did to her team.
>>
>>699083
hah. Scary Kuro
>>
>>699083
Wrong kind of crazy, but noted.
>>
>>698733
Shirou, Sensei, Hakurin.

there are others?
>>
>>699083
>>699083
I'd like to request that We get more interaction with Hyaku
Not that you have to listen or anything
>>
>>699725
That can be arranged
>>
You know you're playing a quality game when the first scene is Majin Buu reading porn.

Xenoverse 2 is already a 10/10, would recommend.
>>
>>700056
Is it out already? Damn I should pick it up
>>
>>700065
The Open Beta is, but only for PS4.
>>
>>698982
In my heart of hearts, Shirou and their cousin hooking up with kuro would be perfect but I didn't want to be greedy.

I'll still push for it given the chance though

>>698992
Oddly enough i started to like her more when she died. poor girl.
>>
Wasn't there going to be a thread tonight?

I got sidelined, sorry about that. I might run Sunday though, Saturday isn't looking mighty hopeful, but anything is possible.
