"That's preposturous!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhHGDOgjie4

The heavily-muscled man wearing robes of brillant ruby red cloth spits at his three companions. "We cannot let him live, his kind is rotten to their core!"

"Where would you draw the line, Bishamon?" A wrinkled old man, his body criss-crossed in webs of thick, intricate tattoos, calmly rebuts from the circle of monks. "He is no longer a threat- to himself or to others. The tailed beast is to be removed harmlessly and dispersed. Would you advocate taking an defenseless life?"

"No, Daruma, but you have to see the beast is not the issue." the ruby robed monk, Bishamon, grits his teeth as he addresses the small company, "He was a black-souled man before given that power. You think a small lesson in humility will change the nature of someone who killed their own clansmen? Who killed your friend?"

Another of the companions waves his hand, covered in a multitude of rings with seals and symbols etched into their faces. "Death is never truly an end. This is something all monks know to be true. At the heart of the Ninshū, life itself and chakra are the same. You would do well to respect the life in front of you."

The third man, a golden staff slung over his shoulder, speaks up, "What would Kannon have said seeing this display now? He gave his life so his ideals- our ideals- could live on. Respect his sacrfice. Let his spirit rest in peace."

They have resolved to simply let fate have its way with the weakened criminal.
They have resolved to let the death of their friend pass in the name of the Ninshū.

The group shouts as the crimson robes abruptly puts his hand, a strange seal carved into the palms, over the face of the man kneeling in the center of the 4 Gates. Red light seems so bleed from the man's eyes and face, his expression a silent cry. The ruby-robed man clenches his hand with a grunt and the spectacle stops.
He opens slowly to reveal a single, sparkling bead shining with a deep garnet light.

He looks up, a flash of deepest red streaks through his eyes.
I will accomplish what you have failed
I will bring a true peace.

The scene fades back into the hazes of your dreams...

>You are now Asa Norihime, Kumogakure's Blue Kunoichi
>You met a strange man, an alleged monk, in the city following completion of an assignment.
>Following his group of companions, you stumbled and watched as they happened upon the seen of the gruesome Kikyo Pass. You stayed and decided to help the monk, Amon, when he was attacked by the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.
>He was holding his own, when all the sudden he demonstrated a power beyond your imagining and went berserk, injuring the Seven Swordsmen as well as yourself.
>This is where we begin today's story

Curls of smoke crackle about in the clearing as the fire burns in the early morning air. You cough roughly as it reaches your sore throat. Ugh, you figured you have at least a few hours more of rest....

You pass a look at the monk lying next to you in a pile of linens. Dragging him out of the pass after ripping those beads off was hard, but hastily setting up shelter while supporting him hurt your already-throbbing body.

He looks disheveled in his sleep. He murmurs something about "Gates" before he idlely runs a hand through his short-growing buzz and snores.
You sigh and pull the blankets over him a bit tighter. You saw the bodies of the other monks at Kikyo.

Not to mention the wounds along Amon's entire body: broken bones, fresh red skin, and not to mention the broken foot. Surprisingly though, you haven't had to deal much with pain or anything otherwise. He's a tough one.

Well, no time to waste...
You jump into the branches of the nearby tree and eye the scene of the descending mountain forest before you. You see a prick in the distance that you recognize from your map as the Fire Temple

You...

"Ninja Art: Summoning Jutsu" You call, biting your thumb.
The branch is engulfed in a small cloud of smoke as you slam your hand down. Your throat burns from the constant irritantion, you begin to cough and hear a concerned, deep voice grumble from in front of you.

"My my, that's rather rough shape you're in Asa-sama," a small white rabbit is standing on his haunches in front of you, concerned. It rubs it's nose on your hand, "Got any food?"

You sigh and throw a small bundle of alfalfa to the rabbit, who leaps high into the air with a cry of joy.

"The usual, usagi," you dismiss the white bunny as he gives a salute. He dives off the branch to the ground below and in a spray of dirt disappears into a rabbit-sized hole.

You crack open Amon's pack. For a guy maybe a few years younger then you at most...he sure has the tastes of an old man. His pack is full of books, a lot of dust, some paper and ink, and the small leather bag you put the broken beads in. Not to mention the golden staff he carries around. You empty out the contents of the pouch into your hand, the remnants of the beads tumbling out onto your palm. The few bits of crushed glass and shredded ribbons of cloth that had once been the beautiful beads look pitiful in your hands. When you'd ripped the beads off Amon, they had shattered and he'd collapsed. You wonder what drove him to the point of the bersek, inhuman rage you'd watched earlier.

You eye the monk once more, a little longer this time, but quickly look away when he stirs slightly.
You look through the bag again and find a small stack of papers strung together by a small, handmade spine. Cracking it open, it is covered in rows of looping, precise handwriting.

Is this a...diary?

You grin mischeviously as you flip through the pages of the book, its pages and the secrets they might containt too sweet to pass up. You stop at an entry marked for a date about a week ago and curl up against the tree to read.

I try to catch my breath when I get the chance, maybe accept that this is really happening, but it seems every passing moment makes my life seem a little more surreal.
It's all gone.
Will everything be okay again?

My mind is poisoned with thoughts of my home, reduced to rubble, and my family, cold in the wilderness.
Yoru is strong-willed, but I can tell he wanders without a set direction- so to say. His flights of fantasy leave him blind to details sometimes amd his ambition seems endless.

You know, this may just end up like one of those great epic fantasies I read about. I'll acquire some kind of wisdom of my own, maybe even rebuilt the Temple with the other monks, and even find a treasure to deliver back to Myatsuu and Tai!

I hope they're okay.

You note Kikyo Pass and the bodies strewn about there. As you solemnly put the journal back, a single, crumpled, torn note falls out of it. As you start to read it, you realize it is from a teacher of his- probably from the Temple. You gingerly stick it back between the pages of the journal and put both away.

For a minute, you look down at the sleeping monk, his eyes sunken slightly and bruised. He shivers a bit in his dreams from the base of the tree.
Going in to face the Seven Swordsmen alone, with so much to lose....

You hop down the tree and put another blanket on Amon, before lying next to him on the makeshift blanket pile.
.....Idiot.

The ground furrows around the tree and a small, white head pops out- interrupting the scene with only a yelp from you.

"Asa-sama, reconnoissance has been completed."
"There are three groups spotted in the forest."

>"A small batch of Kirigakure nin who may have been left behind following the battle at Kikyo and the retreat of the Seven Swordsman."
>" A stranger wielding a sword and traveling with a two young companions."

"Follow the ones with the swordsman," you call out your orders to the saluting rabbit. "I'll be right behind you, just give me a minute before you give the signal."

You turn back to the unconscious monk as the rabbit dutifully fulfills his orders.
You run your thumb along the side of his jaw. It may be worth to keep him around, as long as he isn't just a crazy monk who can't control his temper.
It's been a while since you'd traveled with anyone else.
That is, since you defected from Kumogakure.

The bow sits playfully alongside the tree. You grab it and your quiver as you jump into the trees and through the foilage, following the upturned dirt trail left by your rabbit.

It ends alongside a trail leading down from Kikyo Pass, a group of three strange travelers waiting alongside a fork in the road.

"Three Targets, along the road," whispers the rabbit's voice in your ear. You'd become familiar with their bags of tricks ages ago, so the genjutsu hasn't surprised you for a while.
"Two are carrying what look to be merchandise, the girl looks to be a Konoha nin."

It seems like the girl is discussing heatedly with the man with long, raven hair and a sword. The group shifts and you can see a scruffy face you remember.
That was the man traveling with Amon.

You lower the bow and prepared arrow for now. You haven't made up mind on the monk's companions just yet.
You swing quietly through the branches to get closer to the group and order the rabbit to do the same underground. You stop, pressed against the bark of the trees above them and listen...

"...I told you, we're NOT leaving Amon behind!" The girl, Rin, bullies the older swordsman next to her.

"Shessh, look I can just leave you here in the woods alone if you're going to yell at me like that," the swordsman, Hoki, says lazily.

"No, no that will hardly be necessary, Sanjuro." Yoru call from the fork in the road, "She's understandably upset still, is all. Anyways, if you turned around now my past few minutes would be in vain!" Yoru gives a forced laugh and gestures to the route on his right.
"This way to the Capital and Konoha. Left cuts through the entire midland. No need to go to the Fire Temple now, I suppose."

"You can't seriously be already done with what happened? With Amon!? He could still be out there!" Rin yells at Yoru in disbelief.

Yoru shrugs and shakes his head, giving Rin a cold stare back.

"He's dead, Rin. There's no way someone could live through something like that. Unfortunate, but it was better him than us."

Rin shakes her head, eyes watering. "How could you be so heartless? We don't know where they took him, but maybe the Swordsmen haven't-"

Sanjuro Hoki places a hand on her shoulder, but she shrugs it off. "He was important to us. He was important to you, too!."

"Don't be a fool, Rin. As much as I liked Amon, neither you nor I can revive the dead. We need to move on."

Rin sobs openly and Yoru continues to look on at the path ahead, determined.
"C...can we at least go to the Fire Temple, together? It is what he would have wanted."

Sanjuro begins to protest against the terms, but Yoru stops him and nods his head.

"You're right. He at least deserves that honor."

With that, Yoru starts down the path with a dispirited Hoki. Rin stops to wipe her tears before she crouches down to the ground and buries a small flower in the dirt. She sniffles and then shuffles along to follow the others.

You note the man's pack sagged from the weight of whatever his cargo is.
Mostly likely metal, most likely weapons.

You sigh as you think about the monk resting back at the small camp. He's certainly not going to enjoy having one less friend around.
You notch your bow and take aim at the weapons smuggler.
You take a deep breath....

>You are now playing as Amon Shuu

Light burns into your eyes as you squint awake from under a mound of linen blankets.
You're in the woods, though how you ended up here...

The Pass, The Swordsmen.

You try to jump to your feet, but find your body feels like crumpled leaves.
You try to shake the last memory of a choking Asa out of your head.

The blankets shed off you as easily as snakeskin as you rise, but it's the "getting-up" part that sucks.
You've probably heard less creaking from old, wooden sheds in the first place. The number of pops coming from your body passed just "worrysome" the minute you'd started, but you manage the feat.

You take a few, squeaky steps over to your pack by the tree and look around it.
Your journal sits messily on top of the lump of stuff.
You tuck it underneath- wouldn't want anyone reading it.

You pull the leather pouch from the clutter eye the new item for a bit before dumping its contents in your hand.
Slivers of glass and ribbons of red cloth are all that falls out.
The Red Beads.

You take the moment to play with the lifeless, clear material. The ribbons of red fabric have symbols traced along the entirety of their body before the shredded ends.
Were these sealing something? If so...where did it go?

Regardless, using the golden weight of the Wen Qu you pull yourself up and over to what looks like a small package of food next to you. In it you see a soldier pill alongside some rice and other rations. You ignore the bit of fresh meat included, but you graciously accept the meal left. You sit to meditate in thanks for the bounty...

"I'm sorry," You lower your head in shame.
"I am truly sorry, Asa. I...may not remember much, but I remember that I am the one responsible for....for that."

"It's fine," she says coldly.

"No! You paid the price for my moment of weakness. It is because I lost control to whatever was in those beads so that I could get revenge. I was a fool."
"Because I was a fool, you got...I.."

A soft hand rests itself on your cheek.
"Shhh, Amon. I saw it all, I understand."

You reach to her throat and she shirks away from your touch, at first. After a moment, she obliges though. You can feel her voice humming through your fingertips.
"You drove the Seven Swordsmen off alone, Amon."

"It wasn't worth the cost."

"I saw what was at Kikyo too, Amon. Nothing would be worth the cost you paid. Your family..."

"No, I was wrong. They wouldn't have wanted what I did, I put their memory to shame."

Asa's hands are on your chest, she's looking at you face-to-face with your hand still around the side of her neck.
"Look at me," She points to her bruises. "This is what happens when you don't have faith in your own convictions. This is what happens when you don't rely on your own strength."

"You still need to rest off those nasty br-"

She looks at you standing for a moment, empty-eyed. "...How are you standing right now? Isn't your foot broken?"

Hunh? You look down and shake your foot. "Nope, just fine."

A quick look of confusion passes on her face. She lies down next to the blankets and grabs the fish-design scroll out of your bag, peeling it open.
"Too many unexplained things for my liking," she huffs. "Might as well rest a bit here until it's fully daylight out. Cmon, you rest I'll read."

Asa starts to read the contents of the scroll, her eyebrow slowly raises.

"Amon... why are you reading a summoning contract?"

Good question,
Her background is similar to yours, actually. She empathizes quite a bit with you.

That said, she's not necessarily close to you. She admittedly thinks you're damaged from the experience at Kikyo Pass, but mainly wants to make sure that you don't go off the deep end for the moment.

It was an intimate moment and she's just a well-meaning, motherly woman at heart.
Also, she's resourceful and may need protection. The dude who fought off the Seven Swordsmen is around, so

But I want fish! Does that include other sea life?
>>
>>714801
Can't beat Darkmoon Blade swag.

It's not like it matters since armor and thus damage absorption is next to useless. They both add the same amount of attack, just different kinds.

And I kinda like fish too. It might be hard to use since we're not Kisame and have near limitless amounts of chakra to make water. We could use seals of some kind though.
>>
>>714805
Basically it's just fish with whales at the top of their summon list.

Sharks are another summon altogether, as is octopus, etc
>>
>>714892
What's Amons chakra nature?
>>

Oh, yeah!
It would be rad if Amon could summon sharks and octopi/squid as well. I would be happy with fish and whales.

Like I said I'm fine with water and like fish summons (since that's never really been done in Naruto before) but I can't resist gambling on this since we might get something awesome.

Also I don't think you need your natural element to match up with summons. I'm not 100% on that though.

Seals are the game breaker, as they can eventually alter the elements of chakra and/or break it down. Your nature will only matter with initial techniques, early on with your summons, and with kekkei genkai, really.

Imagine having a scroll that can absorb fire jutsu, but you can store anything it catches for later and alter it into a water technique. Or you could absorb chakra outright from someone to power a jutsu of your own.

The greatest sealing sages mastered the elements and chakra at a fundamental level. This was to the point that they could mould chakra into elements inside another persons body or hamper their attempts to do so.
>>
>>716342
Oh that's epic. Messing up someone's chakra as they try to use it could be so effective. Especially if they try to use a fire technique, since we might be able to make the chakra go off in their stomach like a bomb instead of turning into fire.

A summoning contract?
You haven't seen one before. But, you remember Myatsuu used to tell you stories of the great beasts that lived in the world. Maybe Asa could tell you more about this? You have been out of touch with a lot of things.

Asa continues to inspect the contract, "this thing looks pretty worn out. Wh- ugh!"
She drops the scroll exasperated, her hands wet and chest wet. Looks like there was some water in the scroll.

You pick it up from the blankets and see it is somewhat...wet on the inside, as if someone spilled water on it. Faded on a corner of a page is a single, nearly washed-away signature.

"Forget what I said about the reading, I'm just going to go work off this stress with a little training."

A summoning contract?
You haven't seen one before. But, you remember Myatsuu used to tell you stories of the great beasts that lived in the world. Maybe Asa could tell you more about this? You have been out of touch with a lot of things.

The recent events have left you a little overwhelmed, too much so for your still-hazy thoughts to handle. Asa is comforting enough, though you feel as though you should be taking care of her and not the other way around...

She cares though, for whatever reason. It seems like everything was starting to fall apart.
Asa was there when you needed someone.
Wait...

You call out to Asa, walking back into the treeline. "Asa! Have you seen any friends? One is a girl, shoulder length brown hair. She has a Konoha headb-"

Asa seemingly doesn't hear what you say and disappears through the trees.
Well, you'll just have to ask when she returns then.

You groggily remember Rin's headband. She still needs that, you'll have to find them as soon as possible. They're probably worried sick about you.

Passing the thoughts from your head, you turn your attention back to the scroll. You roll through the initial section, on which there looks to be a compact string of seals, and check the largest, nearly blank section.

The signature, accompanied by what looks like what's left of a hand print of dried blood, seems to be almost washed away by both time and moisture. It almost looks like someone hit the scroll with a wet object. The thought of someone slapping the scroll with a wet fish briefly crosses your mind.

Well, despite that there seems to be some writing along the bottom, though it is barely legible as is.
"Winged King of the Seas, Yu-Kiang"

On closer inspection, the blank pages have a light, scaled pattern to them.

>Write your name in a blank space on the scroll

You feel a jolt of pain up your side as you reach into your pack for your brush.
Asa did think you had some broken bones. You guess you may have healed by some power of the beads though.

You sign your name in the space on the contract, carefully avoiding the larger wet spots so as to not let the ink bleed.

Your name, ink still wet and glistening, shines back from the scroll. Your signature is a bit messier than you'd like, but you expected that anyway. You look at the signature next to yours.

Right, the handprint!

You bite a finger and coat your palm in the trickle of blood. The scroll feels particularly slimy as you gingerly stick your hand onto it, afraid to breakthe soaked paper.

Done! Your name looks quite nice on that, actually.
You adjust the scroll back to the seal as you bandage your finger. Time to figure you out....

Summoning Contract (159/400)
[Threshold Met! (100/400)]
[Technique learned: Uzumaki Sealing Method
Seal physical objects into scrolls as a form of storage. The process to unseal is simple enough to be done immediately.]

...You could use a little bit more time with this one.
The seal has some patterns you haven't read before. The structure implies some sort of transposition and binding of matter...which is entirely new to you. You copy down a heavily simplified version of the seal and study that for a bit.

The theory you manage to come up with is it would seem that, alone, this seal acts to store physical objects inside of it. You could probably keep most of your items in a scroll for storage, if you'd wanted to. You wonder if this could be modified to store something less solid, like a jutsu?

Seems like it could be useful.

For now, you understand the accompanying seals on the contract seem to change the properties of this one. You'll have to figure it out a little later while you think this over. Maybe Asa would help you...

You figure you'll go ask her in a little bit, but she did seem upset herself a little earlier.
...you'll give her a bit longer to cool off and be alone, she deserves that at the least for how much she's helped you- for having the strength to forgive you.

The thought of her hand brushing across the side of your face suddenly makes you a little lightheaded.
Let's study a bit more...

You've got to be kidding me. Is this just angry hatemail?
You continue to read through the long scroll and note that the narrative changes almost randomly to other topics, with no rhyme or reason. It's actually quite confusing and there seems to be continual, deliberate mispronunciation and misspellings throughout.
You get the feeling there is more to this scroll than meets the eye, but for now it only serves to befuddle you.

Myatsuu's Broken Book [356/500]
[Threshold Met! (350/500)]
[Technique Learned: Earthen Seal: Hear-No-Evil Technique
[This seal is applied similarly to the See-No-Evil Technique. Multiple tags can be painted with this seal. When stuck to multiple individuals, the connection between the seals allows a sort of rudimentary telepathic communication through chakra. Capable of long distance, but the seal is easily disrupted or removed. Ineffective when painted on, strangely enough.]

You read your late master's text, your eyes pourover the scratches of ink all around the damaged center while you transcribe the notes into the back of your journal.
It seems Myatsuu had continued to build on the premises of the previous techniques. This one, the Hear-No-Evil seal, seems to allow nonverbal communication. You make a note to stick one on Rin and Yoru next chance you get, maybe Asa too.

You're not trying to lose everyone, after all.

Speaking of which, you'd been meaning to ask Asa a few questions. The sky is painted in colors of yellow and blue, it's around noon. She should be fine by now.
Leaning on the Wen Qu, you stumble to your feet and shuffle into the woods.

It isn't long before you stumble along a path of upturned dirt. Following it uphill for a bit, your ears meet the sound of crashing waters.
You shuffle ahead through the bushes and find a waterfall along the side of the rock face of the small mountain. The crashing waters have collected in a somewhat large, clear pool.
Bathing in it, oblivious to your arrival, is a...

...oh...she's...not wearing any clothes.
You feel blood rushing to your face and jump behind a nearby tree. That was...well then.

You don't think Asa would take too kindly to you walking in on her. You hear her talking about something, probably to her rabbit.

You...

You swear, if it wasn't for your morals...
You put on your best act and call out into the woods around you "Asa? Are you there? Is that a waterfall?!"
From behind the tree you hear rapid splashes and the sound of rustling clothing. Well, good thing you found her and not someone more nefarious.

After a minute or two, you stroll out from behind the tree one hobbling step at a time to Asa, damp and sitting on a flatter rock near the pool.

She gives you a look over as she wrings out water from her messy cerulean hair. "You look in better shape already- only after a few hours too. I'm starting to wonder what exactly they make you monks out of. How do you feel?"

"Like a wet piece of paper, honestly." Asa's rabbit bounces over to you and starts to nibble on your pants.
He's pretty cute actually. You rub the rabbit under his chin only for it to raise a little paw and smack your hand away.

It horrifies you as it then speaks with an ungodly deep voice, "Permission to pet denied, human."

Asa sighs and picks up the bunny, who responds with a burble as she cuddles it. She looks at you apologetically, "Usagi doesn't like strangers, sorry."

"Was there something you wanted to ask me?"

You sit down across from Asa. "I just wanted to thank you for taking me in like this, doing everything you have for me. I'm just wondering...why? Why are you treating me like this?"

Asa gives small smile and looks away towards the reflective pool. For a few moments, the only sound is the contented noises of the bunny as she pets it. "You...reminded me of someone from a long time ago, is all. I couldn't have left you to die there. We both like to follow our conscience, is all."

You remind Asa of someone? You don't think you've ever met anyone that would know her, let alone look like you.
"I...remind you of someone? Who?"

She nods, "Yes, Amon. As crazy as it may sound...you remind me of my sister. Maybe even a little bit of myself too, if I was honest."

So, she has a sister.
"She can't be too bad then. Will we be meeting up with her sometime? She can come with Yoru, Rin, and I!"

Asa shakes her head, "No...I don't think she would want to even if she could, Amon. She's dead, after all."

The waterfall breaks upon the rocks below as you process what you were just told. She doesn't look at you and continues to play with the bunny in her lap.
As the sound of rushing waters continues to fill your ears, you remember a similar sound...

...The mountain stream at Kikyo Pass, stained red with the blood of your monk brothers.
They're gone, all dead.
Like Asa's sister.

Asa looks up, her eyes drier than yours. "I like to think she's in a better place though. It's probably more peaceful for her wherever she is. Anything is better than fighting in the wars as another ninja."

Rin and Yoru have probably left.
You're all alone.
All that is left of the life you knew is gone, forever.

"Y-Yes, A-all life is connected..." You manage to choke out. You feel a tear run down your cheek. "It flows like water. Death is...death..."
You can't finish as the lump in your throat swells. As you start to apologize and get up to leave, you feel arms around you in a hug.

"Shhh, it's okay. You've lost a lot, I understand. You're not alone in this, you have me," Asa whispers soothingly in your ear.
You feel ashamed as another tear drips down your cheek. You feel ashamed for being consumed yet again by your emotions. You feel ashamed expressing your weakness in front of this girl, who you had hurt in the first place.

But you don't break her hold.
Neither does she.
For a few moments, you sit in quiet as the throbbing in your chest slowly relaxes. After a little while longer, you stand from her gentle embrace.
"Thank you, Asa"

She smiles at you with a nod. Usagi nuzzles against your leg- probably as his own way of comforting you.

"I need to know, Asa. Where are my friends?"
"That way," Asa points towards the Northeastern Horizon. "Towards the Fire Temple as of early this morning. They were travelling alongside a swordsman with long, black hair- quite well kept I might add. You were still injured and resting, so I wanted to wait before telling you."

Hunh, seems like she's already on top of things. Why was Hoki travelling with Yoru and Rin? Maybe they just needed extra protection once you disappeared.

Asa plucks her bowstring and inspects several of the crevices in the bow. She's a kunoichi, so maybe she could help you train?
You suggest this briefly to her. After a bit of consideration, she agrees. Though she's not sure how much she can help someone with your speciality.

You strip from your shirt, leaving yourself in just your baggy cloth pants in preparation to training. Asa looks you up and down- an odd look on her face- before she points over to the waterfall and tells you to stand under it.

She calls out something to the rabbit, Usagi, and you see it nod. Abruptly, Usagi explodes in size with a puff of smoke- now nearly a head taller than you.
That's a big rabbit.

With a squeak uncharacteristic to its size, it rams repeatedly into a tree until it falls with a resounding crash. It crushes the two ends and the branches off and picks up the ragged segment of log that is left.

Walking up to the waterfall, it holds it out for you impatiently. They don't actually expect you to...
"You need to put it over his shoulders, Usagi. We're not your size, remember?" Asa calls.

Oh man they were serious. This is how you die, getting crushed with a tree by a giant, fluffy, white bunny.
At least you- UMPF.

Usagi- not so carefully- plops the log onto your back and walks away nochalantly. The roaring waters overhead push down onto the log with even greater force, making the weight nearly unbearable.
"Now, mister mighty monk..."
Asa gives a dirty grin. "...squat."

You cannot feel your legs.
You cannot believe you managed to even survive that. Training like that would leave even Tai walking with a limp.
This woman is unbelievable.

"Decent job, I'd expected you to quit after the first time you fell over. The fact you finished all 12 sets is pretty impressive, I'd say! Points to whoever trained you physically." She teases you, still soaking wet from the experience.

"Thanks, Tai would probably appreciate that"

Asa motions you closer as she goes over the basics of the Summoning Jutsu. Apparently, the contract is the hardest part of the technique. Well, that and the raw chakra needed to summon anything. She looks at you as if you were crazy when you start talking about how you're reverse engineering the summoning contract seal.

"That's...wow, I guess you are good at sealing. That would be more than any normal person- even a ninja- would be capable of creating. You need to have another creature sign the contract though for it to work though...though you probably understand it better than me now."

She clasps her hands together in a seal for a moment and Usagi disappears in a puff of white smoke. "Now, let me show you how this works."
She bites her thumb and forms a few basic hand seals. She slams her hand on the ground in front of her, "Ninja Art: Summoning Jutsu!"
Usagi is back with a poof, standing upright and at attention.

"Now you try, Amon!"

You nod to her and go towards the waterfall pool. If you're going to summon fish, it might as well be near water, right?
Though...you're worried this small amount of water won't be enough for the "Winged King of the Seas, Yu-Kiang" you read earlier...

Gulp.

"N-Ninja Art: Summoning Technique!" You cry as you slam your palm into the poolside mud. A puff of white smoke covers your sight, but as it clears you see...

You think for a minute, maintaining the staring contest with the golden fish. How do you say hello in fish? You think you may have an idea...
You poke Usagi below your knees and whisper into his floppy ear. He hops off to your pack, rummages around, and hops back with the remnants of your meal from before.

Thanking the small rabbit, you take out a small amount of meat and rice and look back to the fish, still floating in the pool.

"Hello, fish-sama. It's an honor to meet you. Do you want some food?" You hold out the treat over the pond so it catches the fish's eye.
It let's out a few more bloops in surprise and swims up to the surface, poking its head out of the water...
...and continues on, swimming out of the pool and into midair. Its body still undulates as if swimming through water as it floats up to your hand and catches the food into its open mouth with a single bite- completely oblivious to the shock on everyone's faces around it.

It looks up to you when it finishes, smiling. "How well mannered you are, Land Dweller-kun! This one would not have expected such respect from a stranger. Even thinking to put her in water, how polite!"

The fish "swims" around your head smoothly, as she continues to speak in a velvet, feminine voice. "She wonders how the young land-walker brought her here, but for such a welcome she can only blush!"

She floats by your face, fins fluttering, "This one's name is Kichijōten, but as a reward the Land-kun may call her Goldie!"

How does that fish fly, anyway?

The thought keeps crossing your head as you travel down the cluttered forest path; Goldie has seemed content to simply flow back and forth in midair around both you and Asa for the past few hours. While Goldie did seem cute at first, her constant upbeat demeanor is starting to agitate you.

"Just dismiss her, she won't even realize it," Asa had whispered to you. You couldn't do that to her though, she hasn't really done anything wrong. In fact, she's been nothing but delightful the entire time...just a bit too delightful. You don't want to be mean to your first summon...

Finally, you think you've come up with a solution to pin down the fish.

"Goldie"

The golden fish twists in the air to face you, "You've called for her, Amon-kun?"

>Stay by my side for a moment. Tell me about where you are from.
>I was thinking you could scout ahead. What are your abilities, by the way?
>Are there any other fish you know that can fly? Would you be able to fly us to where you need to go?

Stay by my side for a moment, Goldie. Tell me about where you are from.

Goldie drops by to your side. "Oh, this one would love that! But where should she start..."
Asa gives you a look, "How about where you are from?"

Goldie does a small twirl with a giggle. "Oh of course! She comes from the Southern Seas, near what Amon-kun would call the Land of Oceans. The shrine of the Sea Sages is down there also on a small island!"

The Sea Sages? You look at Goldie quizzically, but have to end up asking for her to notice.

"Oh, the great Sea Sages? Amon-kun, don't tell me you didn't know?" You think the fish pouts in her own fishy way, as she continues, "The Sea Sages have circled each other since the beginning of time itself! This one believes they are more than just fish. It is said they granted visions and great power to the last Land-Dweller to visit them, but Goldie wasn't around then."

So fish have their own sages? You wonder how in the world you could get there, though. Not only that, what kind of power could they have?

"She misses the waters back home dearly, Amon-kun. The waters feel so warm on her scales!"

>Ask Goldie about the powers of fish summons

You ask Goldie how she is floating, legitimately curious.

"We Fish are able to not only sense and detect chakra, but can swim through it! She is most happy when riding a very strong chakra current, though water is always quite comfortable."

So the fish you summon can float in the ambient chakra around you?
You wonder what would happen if there wasn't any chakra in the environment. What if it was drained, would Goldie dry out?

Regardless, you ask a bit more. "So all the Fish can swim through chakra. Do you all have any other interesting talents, Goldie?"

"Some friends she knows are amazing! Some know how to share chakra, others can scare away big predators by tricking them. Goldie's best friend knows how to make things out of water!"

"What about Yu-Kiang?" You interject the rambling fish. Goldie leaps at the name, spinning in a few circles before coming back to a rest by your side, still jittering with excitement.
"The King of Kings! Everyone owes His highness for something, even if they haven't seen Him before! He made the oceans! He protects the seas! His is the Will that shapes the law of nature!" She praises with an alarming fervency.

Yu-Kiang...made the oceans? This sounds a bit far-fetched to be true. You decide to write it off as some sort of propoganda among fish, especially considering her near-crazed response.
You decide to take a small step away from the golden fish...

"So...anything special you can do, Goldie?"

"Sure, let's see it."

"Okay, watch me Amon-kun!"

Goldie flutters a bit of the way ahead and starts to slightly glow. Can she light up? You suppose that's practical, if not a bit unde-
The last thing your eyes see is Goldie shining brighter and brighter, reaching the verge of becoming a miniature, floppy sun.
Then your vision goes white, completely blinded.

"AHHH! WHAT THE HELL!" Asa cries out from somewhere next to you. A crashing noise and the string of curses that follow tell you she's faring about as well as you right now.

Damn, your eyes HURT. You think they're open but you still only can see a piercing white light. You try to stumble forward to Goldie, but your foot catches on something in the undergrowth and you go tumbling head-over-heads down an incline. As you contine to fall, Asa's brazen cursing about "Goddamn Glow Fish" and "Fresh Sushi" rings in your ears.

With a *whack*, you crack your head against an object.

Dazed, you sit for a few moments. The few moments start to drag into minutes. The minutes seem to tick ever longer with the throbbing of your head. You spiral into unconsciousness.

You feel for your pack, maybe you can...
Your pack in no longer on your back. You feel only the Golden Wen Qu with your groping hands.

It must have dropped somewhere in the water is all, you reason. You start to sift through the shallow waters when something cuts your hand.

Slivers of crushed, clear glass.
Shredded, red, wet ribbons of cloth with symbols traced along their body.

There has got to be some sort of exit here. If you got in, you must be able to get out.

You decide to go right, using the outer wall as a guide in the darkness.

The sloshing of water seems to be the only sound in the cavern, besides the ever-louder echoes of your own heartbeat.

Every step you take, your eyes play another trick on you. At first you think you see movement in the darkness, but realize it was nothing more than your own ripples in the water. Then your hand loses the wall briefly, as if it had shifted, only for you to find it a second later.

The seal is nothing short of a masterwork- Godly, even.
Its designs- larger than you- are intertwined and layered upon each other across the entirety of its hefty dimensions. The blood with which is seems to have been written in glistens as if freshly written. The patterns and symbols in the art seem to weave together a meaning beyond just a concept or structure, closer to a work of epic poetry in purest form.

This is beyond your imagination, let alone your capabilities.
This would be nothing short of a life's work, a masterpiece of expression, in your eyes.

Hurry up, boy. I don't have all day

You chat absent-mindedly with the thing. "Are you in a rush? I can't see you would have anything to do here..."
Don't play GAMES with me boy or you will see your OWN TIME RUN THIN
The voice snarls like thunder. You smell rotten meat in the clouds of vapor eminating from the cage.

You shake your head. "I'm sorry, but this seal is bey-"

GRRRAHHH!
Screams from the inside of the cage as massive claws rip into the gaps between the iron bars in front of you. The cell bars crash against the monster and the cavern shudders from the blow as you go flying back into the inky black from its force.

Get BACK HERE, BOY!
I WILL CRUSH YOUR BONES BETWEEN MY TEETH!

The monster bellows across the cavern, the roars echoing across the basin magnify it tenfold. You look up from the water you were tossed back into to find yoursef in the midst of an abyss.

You cannot see a wall.
You cannot see the cell.
You cannot see an end.
There is no way out.

You walk, the beast's voice still echoing.
You walk...

...the dark parts slightly, or perhaps you grow accustomed to it.
In those depths, you see them twinkling in the black.

You run towards them, but stop as you approach and see they are being worn.

The Red Beads dangle from around the neck of a bearded monk, sitting cross-legged with hands clasped in meditation. He is wearing robes of deep crimson red
An old man, scarred and battle-worn. Meditating in the cistern of demons. His legacy, red with blood.
An ancient warrior, rippled with muscle and spite
His eyes became red in his blindness
I will accomplish what you have failed. I will bring a true peace.

THE CIRCLE HAS BEEN COMPLETED
THE BEADS HAVE BEEN GATHERED
His eyes open, staring their red depths deep into your soul.
I WILL BE THE ONE TO END THE CYCLE. EVIL WILL BE CLEANSED FROM THE NINSHU.

"W-who...are...you?"
The water around the man begins to ripple outwards in small waves. Droplets rise from the surface and float in the air around you.

WHO ONE IS, IS MEANINGLESS. WHAT ONE SHALL BECOME, EVERYTHING
IN MY TIME I WAS BISHAMON, YOUNGEST AND LAST OF THE 5 GATES. WHAT I SHALL BECOME, IS JUSTICE ETERNAL

"What evil and justice are you talking about? What needs to banished?" You yell at the man, his aura growing thicker around the space.

TO WHAT NAME OF EVIL ANY WOULD SPEAK OF. TO THAT WHICH YOU CHOOSE BLINDNESS...
LIFE.

IS IT NOT IN THE NATURE OF ALL LIFE, FROM THE SMALLEST INSECT TO THE LARGEST BEAST, TO CONSUME?
You blink.
You're no longer in the dark prison cistern. You stand before the old warrior, surrounded by smouldering wood and metal. Thatched straw burns in a nearby farmhouse, covered in shuriken and kunai.
THE NINSHU IS THE BED OF ALL LIFE, THE FLOW OF CHAKRA BETWEEN ITS MULTIPLE FORMS
TO LIVE IS TO CONSUME. TO CONSUME IS TO KILL. THE NINSHU IS NOT A BED, BUT A GRAVE. AN ENDLESS CYCLE OF BIRTH AND REBIRTH, DEATH AND CONSUMPTION.
A crying child, no older than four, is collapsed before two larger bodies lying still on the ground in death. His village burns around him as the sounds of clashing metal and battle ring among the flames.

HAVE YOU NOT EXPERIENCED ITS RAVAGING TOUCHES YOURSELF?
YOU KNOW ITS NATURE KEENLY

Another blink. You stand in Kikyo pass with the monk, surrounded by the seven swordsmen.
AND EVIL BREEDS, IT INVADES AND INFECTS
IT CONSUMES.

A blink and you're on the shoreline of the Water Temple

I SHALL BANISH THE TIDES OF THE NINSHU. I WILL END IT. WITH THE BEADS...
I WILL BECOME IT.

You stand in the Water Temple shrine, the old monk kneeling with a staff in front of him. Incense trails around the room and seems to choke the air from your lungs.

WITH THIS WRETCHED POWER, I WILL REWRITE THIS WORLD ANEW AS A GOD. I WILL ERASE THE STAINS OF THIS EXISTENCE AS AN ABSOLUTE POWER.

The monk rises.
A POWER TO ENFORCE RIGHTEOUSNESS. A POWER TO CREATE VIRTUE.

Myatsuu, eyes glowing a deep red, looks to you.

You glower at the monster before you.
"You're not Myatsuu. You're not fit to wear his face, let alone try to take his place. I would never disprespect his legacy by helping your senseless murder and destruction."

You draw the Wen Qu. Planting it by your side, it rings clear like a bell through the haze of the shrine. The monk cringes at the sound.

"No one man, however powerful, can move the world alone. Nobody should control the tides of life.
"Just as a drop of water in the ocean moves and -in turn- is carried by that same water that surrounds it, so to is a single man connected to the fate of the Ninshu. All is connected together and flows like water."

You bang the Staff again and again the bell rings. Bishamon takes a few steps back, hands over his ears. He no longer look like Myatsuu.

"All life is conjoined for the better. We've perceived only a small portion, some of us worse than others. But through time itself, the actions of greater and lesser men have rippled eternally.
There is hope in the form of the sung and unsung heroes. In the people who believe in us, trust us, love us, and help us."

"Despite your pointless nihilism and arrogance to believe all life a waste, it will grow stronger!"

Another ring, the scene changes to the Water Temple Gates, where you had first met Yoru and Rin.

Myatsuu...

"Perhaps it was from a loss that you found this empty philosophy. If it was, I'm sorry.
However, you cannot blame the world for taking those who you held dear.
I have lost almost...everything. I know this pain deeply, but to lose myself to it would be to spit upon those who are gone and believed in me!"

The scene changes yet again, now you are in the courtyard where you first talked to Myatsuu as a child. You smash the Wen Qu into the floor. Bishamon growls in discomfort at the piercing ring.

...Thank you. For everything.

"When you look upon the ocean, you are not only looking at drops of water.
When you look upon reality, you aren't just seeing the actions of an evil few.
This is the truth. This is the heart of the Ninshu."

YOU ARE A FOOL TO STAND IN MY WAY. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO WIELD THAT STAFF!

THERE WILL COME A DAY WHEN YOUR IDEALS CRUMBLE AND YOUR FAITH TURNS TO ASH WITHIN YOUR HEART.

KNOW THAT ON THAT DAY, IT WILL BE YOU WHO SEEKS ME OUT

You jolt awake at the feeling of a hand on your chest.

"Oh god, you're actually alive"

You open your eyes slowly to the stinging light, your eyes still feeling a bit broken from the flare. The first thing you notice is the sky.

The second is the giant rabbit carrying you in his arms. With a yelp you nearly fall onto the ground.

Asa checks you over anxiously and pokes various spots across your body.
"How are you feeling?"
"Do you remember your name?"
"Does that hu-"

OUCH , that did hurt. You wave her off for a second. "Where are we?"

"We're almost at the Fire Temple, I actually see it right ahead. You were badly concussed from the fall and bruised all over, I had Usagi carry you."

You hum in thought for a minute. If you remember the stories correctly, which is likely, you recall that the Fire Temple monks had designed the seal so that only monks could open it.

You turn to Asa, about to ask for ideas and catch her with an upset look for a second before she notices, switching back to a smile.
"Hey, what's up? Something wrong?"

"No, not at all. I'm fine. I...I just think I'm going to look around for another entrence."
She gives you a warm smile and a little wave. "I'll see you around!" She walks across the exterior wall with Usagi, probably looking for footholds or such.

You shake your head. Good luck with that, this is the only way in.
Though the way she phrased that sounded pretty odd.

You turn back to the gate and place your hands on it, pouring chakra into it.
Nothing happens.

"Cmon, not here..." you groan, flooding it with chakra. You need to get in to see them. Your friends, the people who trust you- believe in you.
Love you.
With them, life is truly precious. You push in chakra from the depths of your being...

..And with a thunderous creak, the doors slowly swing open.

"Asa, I did it! Come look!"
"Asa?"

You look over to where the kunoichi once was, only to see nobody there. Your heart slowly drops.
"I'll see you around!
Looks like the Blue Huntress strikes again.

"AMOOOOOOON," cries a voice, before you're tackled to the ground by an overjoyed Rin.
"I knew you were still alive! I knew it!" She cheers, almost crying with joy as she hugs you even tighter.

Behind her stands a grinning Yoru, an impressed Hoki, and....

Pretty good, I'm definitely enjoying the hell out of it.It adds a view to the Naruto universe that isn't from the eyes of a Ninja.

I'll admit I was a bit disappointed the evil monk's goal wasn't solely revenge against the tailed beasts (probably my fault for making assumptions, since they freaked out and he called Rin a monster and messed with her dreams.) It would've made our struggle with him much more personal once we find out Rin's a jinjuriki, since she's one of 4 or so friends we have left. His worldview pretty much being the exact opposite of ours and Myatsuu's teachings does make it a bit personal, but the struggle against him would have hit much closer to home otherwise.

Still, my disappoint is purely from personal preference, and I do mean it when I say I'm enjoying the quest.

Also I completely forgot to mention, but I'm this anon>>723080

They're definitely in there, don't get me wrong. It's just they're not sealed in you, per se. They're bound to The Red Beads, which you never did quite figure out.

Now for the REAL question.

Does tailed beast have vagoo?

God I hate myself. This is what I was talking about with the shitposting before. Now I instead of shitposting in a quest thread, I'm shitposting in a quest. I'll probably die shitposting.

ah, I figured that when the beads broke everything inside it was transferred into us. Ah well, I'm gonna vote to study the beads when we get a chance, so we'll be able to learn this shit in character. Now to just not accidentally release all of them in our studies.

No, I mean the waifuing stuff. I fully intend to try and waifu Asa or a tailed beast just for the laugh it'll give me if it actually works.

The only thing that was completely a joke was waifuing the evil monk.

You do you, man. I'm gonna vote for other shit, probably, but if it does go through and it works somehow, it'll be funny.
