Shinobi Quest #46

This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.

(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime and her party made it’s way through Konoha, under assault from a myriad of sources. After defeating some stranges puppets that ambushed them, Tsuki and company were able to avoid conflict with Orochimaru, as other business physically pulled him away. Once reunited with Hinata and many of the others, the group headed to the Norihime manor, one of, if not the safest places left in the village.

After Hinata left to help the village, Danzo and some Hyuga clansmen left as well. Tsuki was able to bond with her new acquaintance Fuu, the Jiinchuriki of the Seven-Tails, Chomei. Even this peace was short lived, however, as two members of the Akatsuki arrived later on, blasting their way into the manor. Deidara and Sasori, they were called, and they had only one demand- the handing over of Fuu. Stating company policy, Tsuki refused- and a standoff between the genin and the S-class criminals began…..

“I’m afraid we’ll have to refuse your generous offer, sir. The Norihime Corporation doesn’t negotiate with terrorists.” You state flatly.

“Oh-ho! I know you! You’re the little fireball that bought that ramen stand! A shame your investment has been reduced to rubble- but it’s a small sacrifice to the shrine of artist progress!” The man responds.

Ichiraku’s has been destroyed? A shame- but you were planning on remodeling it anyway- this just gives you a better excuse. Still- that’s Norihime property.

If you like my father’s “art” so much, you’re going to love mine.” You retort with a wicked smile.

His smile widens.

“I want this one, Master Sasori.”

The squat creature- Sasori, you guess, making the other one Deidara- doesn’t bother to look at him.

“Remember the mission, Deidara. We’re here to get the girl- not to play around. I don’t plan on keeping everyone else waiting.”

Deidara sighs.

“You need to lighten up. Life- like true art- is fleeting.”

“Not now, Deidara.” Sasori retorts- again showing almost no emotion.
Deidara huffs, but otherwise doesn’t comment.

You hear Shikamaru speak quietly, but clearly, as the two argue.

“They seem like they don’t get along- and if the blonde one is making the explosions, we can use that to our advantage. Those puppets won’t hold up long to that kind of abuse.” He theorizes.

“If we need to, we can retreat to another part of the house. We might lose someone if we don’t have the advantage when we do so- so be very careful ordering a retreat.”

You’ll need to be very careful here- these are two of the Shinobi-world’s most dangerous criminals. One mistake might just be the end of you….

I'm pretty sure being part of the Akatsuki burns a few bridges, and he has no clear interest in defecting.

Eyeing your opponents carefully, trying to consolidate what you know. Both of these men are world famous criminals, with bounties to match- if Danzo’s bingo book was any indication. Thankfully it may give you some insight into their abilities- though it would be foolish to assume it would cover anything close to their full potential.

[Excellent Memory Activates!]

Sasori of the Red Sand- Easily the more famous of the pair, he’s supposed to be the greatest puppet master Sunagakure ever produced- and if the puppets you fought earlier and the ones before you now are any indication, you believe it. Though he’s certainly… unique looking, he doesn’t seem to need to issue orders to the puppets- they seemingly act on his will alone. They are also strangely resilient for puppets, but you aren’t sure why. Beyond his puppetry, his skills are a mystery.

Deidara, formerly of Iwagakure- A user of the Explosion release native to to Iwa, Deidara fled his homeland after stealing some sort of forbidden technique. What this technique was, however, is unknown. He seems to use special clay in many of his attacks- and is even able to craft some autonomous creatures out of clay. This clay seems to either be his release, or amplify it- his explosive charges are seemingly how they were able to break into your home.

Shikamaru’s plan may have some merit- but even your foyer may be too small to fully contain Deidara’s explosions, or even safely maneuver them into hitting Sasori’s puppets.

The front door is open- and you could order Shikamaru to disengage the iron shutters on the doors to take the fight outside. They’ve likely outlived their usefulness at this stage, though you would lose the backup Father’s Ultimate Home Defense System offers….

You think that….

1. Fighting indoors is for the best.

2. It would be smarter to take this fight outside.

We're going to have to leverage every dirty trick we have to get a victory out of this mess.

Work the defense system as much as possible to wear them down, and possibly catch Sasori's puppets in Deidara's explosions. Move on whenever the defenses fail, and harry them if they start trying to target the defense system.
>>
>>714349

1. Fighting indoors is for the best.
Deidera can fly so this closes that down, it will also enable the inoshikacho too work better as it's harder too dodge and finally easier to funnel the puppet hordes. Last but not least it gives us a way to split them up so we can talk no jutsu deidera.

We say we're not asking him to join konaha, we're asking him to join norihime Corp. Let his art shine, no more living in caves and sneaking, expand your art and become the celebrity he was meant too be, he can see we are all artists here. No more anonymous bombings he can stand proud beside his work, no more forced missions only art and resources, you will be the closest thing too free you will ever be

No, it’s best to trust in father- and the knowledge he entrusted to Shikamaru.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74fxNHPBnv8

The rattling of Sasori’s puppets snaps you back to reality- a mass of them are flying straight towards you! Meanwhile, Deidara’s hands seem to be in pouches wrapped around his waist- but he hasn’t done anything yet.

The quickness of the puppets is enough to catch you off guard- but it seems your teammates were waiting for such an event to occur. Several blasts of water crash forward, hitting several of the puppets head on, while Fuu is spraying layers of thick webbing from her mouth, weighing down those it covers. Overhead, the smaller launchers fire in unison, although they seem to do little on their own. Choji and Shikamaru are using explosive tags to do damage where they can- it seems their individual styles aren’t much help against this type of foe.

The puppets, however, retreat from this initial defense- revealing swarms of clay bats coming straight your way!

You have only a moment to react- what will you do?

1. Try to dodge!

2. Try to take the clay birds out with a technique! (What technique? All Tsuki’s known abilities are listed in the pastebin.)

3. Do... something else! (What?)

DAILY REMINDER:
Explosives like c4 burn without exploding, and can be set off with electricity.
>>
>>714701
We want to detonate them prematurely, to see if we can catch any of the puppets in the blast.
>>
>>714658
>>714683
I'm changing my vote to this. I didn't realize from the pastebin Lighting Strike hit multiple targets. Narutopedia was useful for once.
>>
>>714701
But those are ninja magic explosive things.

Also, if those don´t explode they can be explosive ninja magic pudles in the floor. Like mines or something.
I think.
>>
>>714701
Lighting is Deidara's hard counter. It renders his explosives inert. It doesn't make them detonate.
>>
>>714744
Ah, so it's a ninja magic bullshit thing instead of true c4?

In that case I'll switch to Stellar Lightning Strike, if it's true that deactivates them.

These bombs are earth-aligned, right? That would mean-

[Norihime Genius Activates!]

The handsigns for Lightning Release: Lightning Strike take form before you even finish the thought. You infuse it with stellar chakra- after all, it can jump between targets.

“Stellar Lightning Strike!” You call out, purple energy lancing out from your forearms.

The lightning arcs between the bats- and even jumps between some of the retreating puppets.

All of the bats fizzle, and hall to floor harmlessly. So, lightning does counter his bombs.

You smile.

Several bolts of energy arc towards both Deidara and Sasori, but both Shinobi are able to dodge out of the way.

“You…. you corporate witch! You would dare ruin my art? Look at them all- helpless!” Deidara wails, mourning the diffusement of his bombs.

“Deidara. We don’t have time for your complaining- pull your weight, or I’ll kill you myself.” Sasori’s gruff voice responds.

How would you like to press this advantage?

1. Try to attack the Akatsuki!

So deidera they don't employ you for your art? Strange I'd say it's your greatest asset. Is your partner here always so cold towards your art? He reminds me of my father, it's machines and metal. In my opinion art is vibrant it's the surge and change of emotion it brings, that fleeting moment of awe staring in wonder, but your partner here, it's take things, make them dull. Remember I told you I was not going too change that ramen stalk but now you forced my hand. Deidera frankly your art deserves better than being used by terrorists in the shadows, no, you should be able to claim your glory you should be cheered as a great pioneer and visionary, but instead they have you skulking in shadows...such a shame, such a waste. You and your art deserve better. Among them you will never be given the credit you are due.

Deidera I'm not asking you too join a village or even join me, I'm asking you too from yourself from the shackles that bind you. I'd love to collaborate some time, I've not seen such passion in one so young it's very mature of you.

Attacking the Akatsuki! Bold.

I've seen mentions for....

1. Stellar Dragon Bullet!

2. Great Stellar Fireball!

3. Stellar Phoenix Flowers!

Vote for me.

Tsuki has no way of knowing this, but doesn't Deidara respect Sasori as a skilled artist? Seems that claiming he's not artistic at all would be a bit counterproductive to convincing him of our respect for artistry. Same with dismissing dad's inventions when we're similarly enamored with how they work.

You can almost imagine Deidara’s reaction to Sasori’s statement- but you’ve already inhaled deeply, kneading large amounts of fire chakra in your stomach. You blend in stellar chakra for good measure, and feel the heat skyrocket in intensity.

When it reaches it’s peak, you exhale-

“Great Stellar Fireball!”

The smoldering blue orb sails downwards, towards the two Akatsuki, who dodge-

However, it seems they’re just as unfamiliar with your techniques as you are with theirs. The Great Stellar Fireball bursts upon impact with the floor, belching searing hot stellar flames in all directions. Deidara is thrown by the force, while Sasori jumps out of the way- the flames, however, catch his robe, burning it away.

What lies underneath is very strange- his back is a giant mask, along with a large bladed tail, broken into segments. Looking closely, you can even see what look like mechanical joints.

Whatever this is, it certainly isn’t human- or Sasori, most likely. He is a puppet master, after all.

The puppet rights itself, using all four limbs to attach to the wall like a spider. Deidara, meanwhile, stands- obviously a little charred from the attack.

He looks mesmerized- but also frustrated.

You try and fail to hold back a laugh.

“I won’t be outdone- your art may be beautiful, but in the end it will be mine that is superior!” He growls, hands reaching down into his pouches. You can see what looks like small mouths on his palms- that’s….. Kind of gross, to be honest.

Your successful attack has given you a spare moment- what would you like to do?

1. Utilize a coordinated battle plan!

2. Retreat to another room in the house! (This room’s defenses are mostly spent, while others have yet to be used.

3. Taunt the Akatsuki- and attack again!

Now isn't the time. Deidara wold make a great addition to ROOT, but a lot of that is that no one would ever suspect he was working FOR Konoha, and it'd be totally obvious that he doesn't NEED a reason to randomly show up and explode things aroud the world. Part of that is not letting everyone know what we're doing.
At best, this current meeting can convince him he'd get along with us better than his current co-workers, and prepare for a double-cross later. If this invasion goes south I could see him jumping ship and looking for a place to hide out from Pein.

So right now if we want him we should:
1) EXPLODE EVERYTHING - prove we have likable characteristics
2) WRECK HIS SHIT - show that we're powerful and well-connected
3) NOT DIE - continue living

“Open the shutter to the ballroom! Everybody, tactical retreat!” You order.

Shikamaru nods, and points his remote towards the door to your right- into the house’s west wing.

The iron covering retracts, and everyone begins to run towards the door. Fuu and her Takigakure companions cover your retreat, firing blasts of water and webbing and the encroaching puppets, along with strange, spider like Sasori.

It isn’t enough, however- whatever this puppet is, it’s incredibly nimble. It lunges towards Fuu, tail blade extended!

What it meets instead is the blades of one of the Taki genin- Kegon, you think.

“Go! I’ll hold them off- engage the next series of defenses!” He grunts, Sasori’s tail blade weighing down on him.

“No! I won’t leave you- no friend gets left behind!” Fuu cries out, turning to try and save her companion.

It’s the other Taki genin, Yoro, who grabs her by the stomach, pulling her into the room.

As soon as the two are inside, Shikamaru engages the shutter- it slams shut with a loud *THUD*, leaving Kegon to his fate.

Fuu beats on the iron door- but it doesn’t give. Yoru’s voice crackles over the loudspeaker;

Initiating foyer defense self-detonation subroutine. Everyone, head to the ballroom, now!

Turning, you can see the entrance to the ballroom on the far side of the hallway- Shikamaru disengages the protective shutter over the door.

Fuu still remains at the door- Yoro has to pick her up and carry her as you run to the next room.

Once you enter the ballroom, Shikamaru closes the iron shutter- and from two rooms away, you hear father’s voice again.

Thank you for visiting the Norihime Manor- unfortunately at this time we aren’t interested in giving guided tours. In mere moments, all mechanical defenses in this room will detonate- so I suggest-”

His voice is cut off by a loud explosion emanating from the same room, follow by howling laughter over the loudspeaker.

Guess he got a little too excited to try out his toy.

The ballroom. The entire room is nearly empty, most of the additional seating long put away in storage. The windows in this room have been sealed shut by the shutters inside- leaving the room only partially lit by the electric “candles” lining the room, and the reflection they cast upon the mirrored ceiling.

What did father call it? Mood lighting?

He hasn’t ever used it, that you can remember- it’s even a bit odd to think of him dancing.

Perhaps mother was the one who liked to dance? The thought stays in the forefront of your mind, until your Father’s voice once again crackles to life.

Alright, kids. This one is a bit unique, so stay with me here. When I engage this room’s defenses, mirrors will rise from the floor, creating a sort of maze- it’s primarily meant to slow down attackers, though you shinobi might be able to able to use it more offensively, given your skills. You could also choose to leave this room entirely. If you do, I can activate the detonation command early, though I’m not sure how much-

A loud *KABOOM* rattles the house again. Looks like they just blew open the first shutter.

-damage it will cause them. I’ll leave the choice up to you.

A mirrored arena could provide quite the advantage, though running away might still the best choice. The next room should be a storage area- and will likely have roof access.

1. Stay and fight the Akatsuki in the Mirrored Ballroom, together.

2. Stay and fight the Akatsuki, but send the others forward.

3. Keep running. Fighting them on the roof might be better.

Anons I've got an idea, we get a bonus too creating new jutsu so why don't we try too create a fine mist if stellar chakra, it'd be like acid mist and stops deidera blowing his way through.

Alternatively we fill it with Stellar Phoenix flowers and then kill the lights. A mirrored maze of glittering stars....that kill you
>>
You look to your group, who nod.

Walking to the far end of the ballroom, Yoru’s voice crackles to life again.

Very well. Engaging Ultimate Home Defense System: Self Reflection Room.

You hear the whirring of mechanisms beneath your feet- and see the mirrored plates begin to rise up, covering all the walls in the room. Once that’s done, mirrors rise in between floor tiles, creating a maze- just as father promised.

You’ll likely only have a few more moments to prepare- what should you do?

1. Fill the maze with hazards- Stellar Phoenix Flowers, Sai’s Ink Animals, Water Clones, etc.

2. Have everyone utilize clones to trick and confuse the Akatsuki, to slow them down.

3. Engage the Akatsuki inside the maze. Try to separate them, and engage with a team of two other genin of your choice. Have the other team watch the exit.

Let's hold off on the releases until we're forced to fight them all out.

You indicate your plan to the others, and begin making Stellar Phoenix Flowers- with everyone following suit, making hazards of their own.

Sai creates a multitude of ink animals, Yoro creates a few water clones, while Fuu creates great clouds of black biting flies.

Choji and Shikamaru don’t have anything quite like that, but do their best to fill the maze with caltrops, explosive tags and tripwires- conventional traps to complement your chakra-created hazards.

As you are finishing up, an explosion announces the entrance of the Akatsuki, who seem to be in the midst of a conversation.

“If nothing else, you are good for opening doors, Deidara.” Sasori declares in his emotionless tone.

“Master Sasori, please! This was just a bad showing, I-” Deidara stops mid-sentence.

“Alright, what the hell is this!” The Akatsuki member fumes.

The loudspeaker crackles once again, in response.

Welcome, gentlemen, to the ballroom. I’ve arranged quite the night of entertainment for you- you need only navigate to the other side of this room. The Norihime Corporation encourages use of this room for peaceful self-reflection- and destruction of Norihime property will not be tolerated. Enjoy!
“Yoru Norihime.” Sasori’s low grumble echos throughout the maze.

“Look forward to the slow death awaiting you for wasting my time.”

Father says nothing in response- you wonder if he can actually hear on his end, or not?

“Come, Deidara. Time is of the essence.” Sasori grumbles again.

“You’re kidding. You want me to go through that thing? Why the hell should we! It won’t stand up to my artistic brilliance!” Deidara spits.

Ah-ah-ah, boys. Naughty children will be punished……’ Yoru’s voice chides.

“I’m seriously going to kill you, old man. Genius or not.” Deidara says flatly.

While you certainly can’t see the Akatsuki attempting to navigate the maze, you can hear them- or specifically, you can hear Deidara. He curses loudly and incessantly every time he runs into a hazard- where as there are several traps that go off without any sort of response- likely meaning Sasori has triggered them.

Finally, glass starts break- and soon, the sound of shatter glass echos throughout the enclosed room. At first you think it’s Deidara, finally losing his cool- but the lack of yelling or cursing reflects a different culprit- one that you eventually face as the rest of the maze crumbles.

Covering his face to prevent damage, you can see a very burnt Deidara, whose gazing daggers at the creature Sasori- his body burnt and damaged- his joints seemly gunked up by the remains of Fuu’s biting flies.

“M-master Sasori! What’s the big idea?!” Deidara panics, looking around the room for any sign of incoming punishment.

“It was a bluff.” Sasori explains calmly.

“Ok, but what if it wasn’t!” Deidara whines.

“My body is indestructible.” Sasori responds flatly.

“That’s perfectly fine for someone like you- but I need to perfect my art!” Deidara grumbles.

“Then stay out of my way.” Sasori says with finality.

The two Akatsuki stand in the center of a room filled with broken glass. Their squabble momentarily ended, they will soon come for you. Mirrors still adorn the walls and ceilings, making this an area to able to be fully utilized- or, you can use this time to escape, and detonate this room.

Deidara is worn down, but it seems impossible to gauge Sasori.

You….

No, you need to move on- you’ll put these men through every level of conceivable hell you can before fighting them.

You command Shikamaru to open the shutter, and he does.

You usher everyone through, and turn to have it closed- only to see Sasori rushing towards the door!

On instinct alone, you release a Stellar Dragon Bullet, which engulfs the monster in flames- but he does not stop! The almost manages to shut, but the bladed tail has wedged itself between the door and the floor, stopping it from fully closing.

Your eyes widen in fear- father will be detonating the room soon.

You nearly push everyone up the stairs as metal grates on metal- the sound of Sasori trying to force the door open. Unlocking the trap door and forcing it open, your group scrambles unto the roof as the ballroom detonates- the sound of shattering glass audible even out here.

Fuu shuts the trapdoor and covers it with a thick layer of webbing, hoping to slow the pursuers down, if nothing else.

The sun has nearly set- you take this moment to peer out to the horizon to see how Konoha is faring- and what you see shocks you.

Shukaku is still about, but has seemingly moved on to a different foe- some sort of giant frog wielding a blade? This must be one of the Frog summons Nori had mentioned previously…. But who summoned it?

Smoke still pours off sections of the city, but you can only hope that the situation has improved.

However, a blast much closer to home breaks you out of your daze- the trapdoor flies open, and out steps a decidedly damaged Sasori and and even more burnt Deidara.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, YOU RUNTS!” Deidara howls.

“END OF THE LINE! TIME FOR YOU ALL TO FALL VICTIM TO MY ART!”

He seems delirious- but he’s still standing, which is impressive.

Sasori says nothing in contrast, but doesn’t need to-

Once he had appeared, puppets had risen up around the roof, completely surrounding you.

“Your time is up. I applaud your efforts, but this is indeed the end. You have nowhere to go.”

You can almost detect a hint of smugness in his voice- almost.

However, another voice rings out- and it’s smugness is undeniable.

Gentleman, I told you destroying Norihime property would not be allowed- and now, you will be punished for not following the rules!

It’s definitely father, but it doesn’t have the distinct crackle of the loudspeaker- where is he?

Behind you, a sound not unlike a large metal shutter grates your ears- and a large hunk of metal steps forth, the roof creaking under it’s weight.

It’s covered in antennae, and has two large caliber mounted senbon launchers attached to it. It almost looks as if it’s some sort of mobile artillery platform? You can see cables running from it’s back end all the way inside the manor- just how much electricity is this thing using?

Everyone, feast your eyes upon my latest creation- or at least, it’s prototype! This is the Automated Strategic Artillery, version 0.5! Seeing as it's post-thread, I wanted to ask for some opinions, anons, who'd win in a four-way battle? Tsuki, Kon(from LNQ), Takeshi(from Boruto), or Kuro(from FNQ)? Assume that they're all at Chunin exam levels. No outside assistance.

My god.

The Norihime Warmech is real.

This is the perfect ending to one of the best sessions in the whole quest.

Also: Automated Strategic Artillery = ASA

>>715949
These are really just too awesome to see used in any regular way, given the generally low-tech setting.

Maybe we could have one or 5 to use during whatever Final Battle we have 50 or so threads down the road, but it's generally better for it to remain a rare and mighty superweapon that's only ever seen a handful of times throughout the entire quest, and never for long.
>>
>>715993
At chuunin exam levels it would be Tsuki, chicks crazy levels of strong.
Then it would be Kon.
If they went all out and knew nothing about each others strengths.

However with that jinjuriki stopping poison and use of genjutsu Takeshi could probably take either of them down pretty easily.

Actually this made me think, would Afterglow fuck over poison? Also Tskui does have very good genjutsu defense, just no offense
>>
>>716041
Eh it might fuck over the poison, its really a QM fiat sort of situation.

Poisons can be dry and once they get pinned into you via senbon or something it'll flow through and fuck you up all the same while others dried due to the heat would stop working all together.
>>
>>716046
Protein-based toxins (like snake venom, lily of the valley and such) almost always lose their efficacy if heated enough, but elemental toxins like arsenic retain their potency. I can't speak to the effects of heating synthetic toxins though.

Besides, seeing as Tsuki isn't boiling to death, I'm pretty sure activating Afterglow after she's exposed won't do anything; it has to be before she's intoxicated.
>>
>>716006
I feel that Tsuki's Kekkai Gekkai fucks over everyone's releases. Especially Kon, as his Impact release would be super vulnerable to Stellar. I presume that Stellar would just cause the water from Takeshi's and Kuro's jutsus to just fail outright.

If Takeshi could land his Paralyzing Bells, then the fight would be over, barring Tsuki, who has had training countering Genjutsu. Kon's Feedback would do well against Taijutsu specialists, but everyone in this line-up is virtually Ninjustu/Genjustsu, at this rate, rendering that ability null.

I'd say that in a straight up fight, Tsuki would win, but in a fight of attrition, Takeshi would win due to the Underdog Seal(assuming he's worn out his opponents to the point that they can't fight anymore, at least).

Giant is a bit if an overstatement; the ASA is only about 13ish feet tall.

>>716001
There are several reasons its impractical- one of which its use if power. It basically necesitates use of all the elctricity in the house, constantly, among others. This isn't about to become a mecha-quest, just giving Yoru his moment to shine.

Then again, mecha-naruto exists. Find a way to power them and work with Dad to make them more viable, and you never know.

>>
>>716092
So I gotta ask

if we had gone with Yoru instead of Itachi, would we have gotten more mechs?

I don't regret going with Itachi, because it's made us one tricksy son of a bitch, but I just wanna know if we could've been ninja mechwarrior.
>>
>>716124
Tech, yes, mechs, no.

Naruto is incredibly inconsistant with its technology levels, so even shit like this doesnt leave a dent in the overall narrative- but you guys came for Ninja magic bullshit, not mechwarrior.

And really stacking the two against each is interesting, since most magic ninja bullshit would win out against Yoru's pseudo-metal gear ED209.
>>
>>716144
What kind of tech my man?

Also I was reading thread 1 again just because and just wondering out of
#1. “A young Konoha shinobi with the entire world as their oyster. Origin is a mystery.”
(Name, Gender, History will be determined by players. Initial stats will be rolled.) (Difficulty I)

#2. “A little bird whose cage hangs perilously on the weakest, far flung branch of a great familial tree.” (Clan name predetermined, everything else determined by players. Initial stats will be rolled.) (Difficulty II)

#3. “A young man whose fate lies on a knife’s edge. The world stands against him, for he is all but alone. Effeminate.” (Name, Ability and Stats predetermined. Starts farther along in our tale.) (Difficulty IV)

We picked 1, what would the other options have done?

>>
>>716322
You can compare ability at any point, it's
just convenient at those specifics.

I see what you're saying though. The point on comparison is pretty fair considering Amon isn't even a ninja, technically.

He's within the chunin age bracket and has had some indications of power throughout the quest. He'll start facing more canon shinobi and such to give a better idea.

I think it would probably come down to tsuki and takeshi
Tsuki has the overwhelming strength while takeshi has his genius
The best way to defeat tsuki is by forcing her to waste her chakra
If takeshi is hit its basically game over
>>
>>716945
Tsuki is proud enough that lose to Takeshi because he's tricky.

Honestly Kon had what was basically the ultimate defense, so Tsuki would need to break through it, which is debatable.

Snowflakes gonna slowflake
>>
>>716892
That's pretty impressive with a naruto quest. Wargle's avoided having too much training, but holy shit do these quests tend to go overboard on the stack stick game.
>>
>>716980
Kon has his weakness to genjustu
If takeshi sets up the bells and gets it threw he's fucked

I haven't read FNQ but from what o gathered kuro is dumb as fuck so takeshi can easily trick him

Trying to think of Naruto MC's is hard man, getting that perfect mesh of snowflake right.

Also knowing i'll never have a character be as based as Tsukis dad feels bad man.
>>
>>717018
Takeshi is a good counter to Kon in terms of the tricky dickery and genjutsu, though I dont think he could fare well against Norihime given that she has norihime genius and the explosive force to back it up.

She's like a less trick-dickery takeshi, with stupendous firepower.
>>
>>717510
As wargle already said tsuki is too proud and might step into takeshi's trap

There's that and depending on who she had to fight he might be able to tire her out and then underdog seal sneak attack if he gets tired out
>>
>>717528
Knocked out not tired out
>>
>>717528
Yes, but Tsuki is very good at dealing with Genjutsu thanks to training. Still could work though if he stalls for time enough.
>>
>>717534
It all depends on how well he uses things like elephant to fly and haze clones along with false sound
If he can get her to waste enough chakra on steller and get himself into a good position by using her pride against her
Anything less then perfect execution will lead to him losing
>>
>>717587
Which is pretty par for the course in that quest. Also Wargle talked up Kon's defense, but Stellar just ruins Impact.
>>
>>717608
But can it? Plasma is matter meaning impact might be able to fuck it over preeeeetttttty hard
>>
>>717630
Type advantage. Also Fire + Impact usually results in BOOM from what I remember. Tsuki's justu are all pretty decent range, meanwhile Kon's defenses are right on himself.
>>
>>717534
Not that good. Tsuki only has basic Sharingan defense.
>>
>>717801
+15 to Genjutsu resist is pretty good when you already have a 2.5 in the stat.
>>
>>717814
That's if she sees it coming
Placing a sneaky false sound on her will work and if we use it to confuse her and use the the super poison senbon and she's done
Haze clones will do the same
Takeshi's genjustu are smaller scale and harder to detect
He just has to confuse her
>>
>>717825
Yes, but all has to be done while avoiding every single attack from Tsuki. Probably the most even fight of all the MCs.
>>
>>717832
So kind of similar to his fight with mari or bort

I can see why everyone freaked out about both of them
>>
When Tsuki gets the chance to train which might be a long time, I suggest int, ninjutsu, and Speed.
>>
>>717919
>not shoring up tai and learning how to use the Kiba, arguably the best weapon we have access too atm

nigga please
>>
>>717932
>shoring up Tai
You mean that thing we have been doing all quest?
>>
>>717932
Ninjutsu is Tsuki's true strength. Tai is good and all but I really don't see it as her main weapon.
>>
>>717919
I get the feeling that the assault is probably going to wrap up once we finish with Deidara and Sasori, whether we like it or not.

Just have to hope our friends didn't die horribly or worse.

>>717932
>focusing on tai
M8, Tsuki's all over the place with her stats right now.

She needs to focus on her strengths for the moment so we'll actually stand a chance if we have to go toe to toe with something dangerous without the benefit of a Home Alone house. As it stands, she's pretty much average in everything, and this is going to bite us hard if we keep shoring up our lowest stats without boosting our strengths.

Right now she's a flashy spellcaster, and we're going to want her to have powerful spellcasting before we start trying to introduce the Kiba into our arsenal. Powerful spellcasting that blows shit up is worth far more than average spellcasting that's backed with average swordsmanship, and is a far safer foundation upon which to start developing our swordplay.

>but Kiba
But our Stellar Release. We already have special snowflake ninjutsu, let's git gud with it before diversifying into special snowflake taijutsu.
>>
>>717932
>>717988
The whole deal with Kiba is that it would boost our Lightning Jutsu. They are a backup pair of swords for it enemies get too close. We should get the basic kenjutsu training that will let Tsuki use Speed instead of Strength for sword power though. But that is still a long way off.

>>
>>717994
Anon, it does way more than that, they're the only swords that we know of that can channel stellar through them.

Wargle told me they can do some gnarly stuff
>>
>>718053
As of right now that is what we know they can do. We need more Ninjutsu because that is our strength. If we have time after getting better at our strengths we can do more Taijutsu.
>>
2.5 or 3 that should be good enough.
>>
>>718063
That is already what our Taijutsu is. But we are talking about once we reach the big time skip.
>>
>>718080
Then +.5 to round it up. If Anons want stellar swords then Tsuki's chakra control must become great.
>>
>>718092
Yeah, we need more of that so we can also use more Stellar.
>>
Question: Medical-nin can't use different types of Jutsu because they need to store large amounts of chakra?
>>
>>718104
the way I've seen it is that the discipline is so study-intensive it's almost totally exclusive of everything else. Only related fields can be used in conjunction with it because you don't have time for anything radically different, assuming you aren't a once-in-a-generation-genius.

like puppetry
>>
>>718126
Oh, okay. I'm going to need to recon my character. I was feeling I was making him too powerful/snow flaky
>>
>>718145
the benchmarks of snowflakery are applicable only if there's no sense of weight to the characteristics. for tsuki we have threads and threads of background and meaning applied to them. for a character you're making out of the blue, you need to provide that sort of context or it will always come off snowflaky. any OC sort of endeavor will always suffer if there isn't a reason for that OC.
>>
>>718145
I think you should leave the power level to luck or player choice

Does Kon's feedback work on heat? If not, Tsuki might just fry him. At this point in the story, Kon's release was fairly basic, just lasers and feedback. Tsuki can beat takeshi, but only if she resists the genjutsu. Considering her speed and the boosted resistance to genjutsu, she has a decent chance as long as she doesnt fall into too many traps

Tsuki still has her pride which takeshi can take advantage of and takeshi would know what her kekki genkai is

Relax, Yoru's the only one who's ever really going to have a mech, we're just thinking of technologies to pimp it out with, knowing full well they will probably never see use.

Wargle even outright said earlier that he's just giving Yoru his moment in the limelight, and the mech in question is so grossly inefficient that it's unlikely to ever show up outside of contrived circumstances like the ones we have now.

In other words, there is no danger of this becoming ninja mech quest. Even if it would be hilarious to fight Orochimaru with a megazord.

Well shit, that is what I get for not watching or reading much during the 4th Shinobi War.

Glass Release?
>>
Okay instead of Releases what about Forbidden Techniques?

Looking into some and making original ones with decent scaling seems very hard

Current ideas like making masks out of chakra that give the user access to kekei genkei depending on who's chakra they use. Forbidden because a lot of people would use this and kidnap say a Uchiha, forcefully and painfully extract their chakra and steal their Dojutsu.
>>
>>724180
Doesn't exist far as I know, theorize it would be earth+fire yes? or earth+wind+fire? as sand is earth+wind?
>>
>>724193
That is some big shit right there. Does the mask take away their stuff or just copy it?
>>
>>724144
Entropy Release

Heavy emphasis on defence.

Can unravel natured chakra into raw, harmless form. Can disperse kinetic energy from taijutsu, among other things.

When used offensively, can be likened to disintegration. Has a hard time making localised/concentrated attacks, far better at AOE/cone/blasts.

Has access to transmutive effects (turning one substance into another), but getting the desired substance is difficult.
>>
>>724198
Probably Earth + Fire. Volcanic ash is a thing, but Lava Release seems to have a pretty wide variety of styles.
>>
>>724201
Don't even know how I'd make that, lightning+yang maybe?
>>
>>724199
Undecided but leaning towards removing the victims ability to use it afterwards with the potential to kill depending on the kekkei genkei
>>
>>724201
Idea is cool, but depending on how quest savvy you are Impact Release

>>724206
Ninja Serial Killer, I love it.
>>
>>724206
Oh, thinking of another Forbidden Technique.

Chakra Memory Replication. Would allow someone to take a few minutes to recreate the flow of chakra in an area. Longer it has been, harder it gets. Combat applications could be repeating attacks from a few minutes ago at higher mastery.
>>
>>724207
Yeah thats kind of the plan , have a scroll filled with masks containing powers from past victims that completely change the way the character plays.

This would be the Jugo Clan one, pop it on and the options field basically become destroy this OR destroy that but you'd become a fucking unstoppable machine
>>
>>724212
I would say just be careful how much they get away with before the MC has a chance to deal with them. Also because a murder in the current time is more stressful than having them all already be done.
>>
>>724204
Yin + Fire, id say. Fire is related to energy release and seems to share the same difficulty of localized/concentrated attacks.

>>724207
Wasnt impact more about vibration? Never finished that, stopped at some point early.
>>
>>724220
Unless the MC is the serial killer, then I dunno.

>>724222
From what I remember it became Vibrations that could become the ultimate defense. Could be wrong though, I haven't read it in a long time.
>>
>>724222
Compression Release, or something similar to weight or gravity could also be interesting,

Implosions, gravity wells and such,
>>
>>724231
Gravity was my other main idea
>>
>>724236
Deva Release?
>>
>>724236
You could combine it into an overall Mass Release, make things light/heavy (fucks with opponent, majorly), or screw with gravity.
>>
>>724231
>>724240
weight manipulation is already a set of jutsus, so we don't need some special release for them.
>>
>>724144
Radiation Release?

This shit would have to be evil only though, given what radiation does.
>>
>>724370
Radiation release sounds eh

I guess you could paint it similarly to Hanzo where the user has to wear a suit and shit to prevent self damage
>>
>>724375
What about non elemental jutsu branches, like ShikaInoCho and Sai?
>>
>>724370
Entirely unspecific, radiation could mean anything from x-rays to radio, and could just be mistaken for anomalous glowing in the visible spectrum. It's also indiscriminate as all hell, how do you aim something which by it's very nature is AoE?
>>
>>724376
Yeah I was looking into stuff like that but honestly im clueless as to what at the moment
>>
>>723216
No worries anon, it isn't heading that way. Big ol heavy mechs don't fare well against shinobi anyway, as you'll soon see.

Super-techy stuff is for the sequel, if it ever happens.
>>
>>724438
Damn we havent settled on a husbando yet

Fuck we gotta pick by around time skips end to give us enough time to make a decision

More male encounters when wargles?
>>
>>724438
Wait, so they're about to kill Best Dad?
>>
>>724453
Or, ooooor we don't pick at all and see what wargle pulls out His ass for the epilogue.
>>724438
Do we get tech like the vongola gear from hitman reborn? Not overly techy but does boost pseudo magic combat.
>>
>>724461
Oh god having mind rape flashbacks
>>
>>724380
I've been brainstorming odd things like that for an entirely different setting, so I'll list some off.

A method where reciting a short story allows you to channel central aspects of that story.

A method where a user can physically impose their dreams and nightmares onto reality

A physical-oriented style that focuses on hijacking and altering the effects of any magic the opponent uses to a less dangerous form. Masters can twist it to benefit themselves instead.

Ability to invoke laws from an ancient, fixed list of laws that must be followed by all parties in combat. Violation inflicts a penalty according to the specific law in question.

A method based on a substance/ability that rapidly constructs and deconstructs simple offensive and defensive structures

A method based on mold, fungus, and the general theme of degeneration.

A method whereupon dying soldiers allow themselves to be slain and spiritually bound to a living host, who can then be controlled by them at will and draw upon their collective magical power.

A method based around damaging, subverting, and destroying the equipment of enemies while amplifying the sympathetic relationships between objects and people to inflict magical damage on owners of the broken equipment. (i.e. destroying a newly issued sword would do virtually no damage to its wielder, but destroying a cherished family heirloom they routinely swear by could kill them, and even potentially harm other people who cherish it similarly if the destroyer is a master.)
>>
>>724476
What about a jutsu where you simply imbude chakra into objects, weakening yourself on the price of a more powerful weapon or armor.
>>
>>724715
Soooo... Worm's Dauntless as a Ninja?
>>
>>724719
Why not?
>>
>>724753
It's a cool idea and I had it as the premise for a new faction in a warring states quest I have written out but will probably never run
>>
>>724459
Well I doubt he will be able to fight 2v1 against another robot basically and an explosives master.
>>
>>724459
Yoru never actually said he was in there.
