"I've got the package. Get out of there."

Zyr'rha's voice says as she breaks the com silence.

"Understood."

You reply while motioning to Taral and Haust that you're about to leave.

"We'll rendezvous back on Dromund Kaas for debriefing from the Master. Try not to take too long to get back~ I'm excited to finally meet you face to face."

She coos before hanging up the connection.

You take a moment and let out a momentary sigh, relieved that the mission was completed without major incident. Before looking to the Lieutenant.

"Mission was a success, we're out of here."

You reply with an easy nod

"Sounds good, lead the way boss."

He responds, returning his riffle to it's place holstered on his back.

>What do you do?

>Head to the front and check on the little scuffle that you left behind.
>Leave through the loading bay Haust mentioned, you need to get out of here now.
>Search the area for a bit, see if you can scrounge up any more data chips that might have credits on them.
>Set off the remainder of your thermal grenades in this room for the hell of it.

You take the lead and stride toward the back of the large cafeteria into the kitchen and eventually find a large loading bay door that looks to be tightly shut.

With a single motion of your hand the door begins to groan softly as you push outward. Metal bends and pops in ways it is not meant to and finally you hear the terrible sound of ripping metal as the door explodes outward with a final push of kinetic energy. You breathe another small sigh from the expended effort and walk easily into the alley behind the enormous building.

Several drifters and bums look up at you, faces stricken with fear after seeing an enormous metal door be ripped from it's hinges.

>What do you do?

>Kill the witnesses. You don't need the Mando knowing where you headed if he tries to follow you.
>"Haust. Find us a transport to drive us to the space port."

"Haust, do you know any good bars here? I need to take a moment, and I recall us talking about celebratory drinks."

You ask, making eye contact with him and he seems to understand your meaning.

"Sure boss, I'll lead the way."

He says with a nod.

"You three."

You say calmly as you plug one of the data chips into your communicator. It has ninety credits on it, thirty for each of them.

"There's ninety credits on this chip. It's yours if you tell anyone who comes looking for me that I went that way."

You continue, motioning to the opposite direction of the space port.

The three of them look at each other and nod swiftly in unison, eager looks in their eyes. You toss them the chip and they all scramble to stand and grab the chip.

You and Haust make you way out of earshot before you speak.

"Find us a transport and get us to the space port."

You say softly.

Haust nods almost imperceptibly leading you out of the alley and into another so he could take possession of a transport. It takes another fifteen minutes before he pulls up with a small personal transport, a two seater. You get in wordlessly as Taral curls around your feet and the two of you take off. You take this moment of calm to drink in the city.

Slowly your eyes have adjusted to the garish neons of the city, though the heavy scent of pollution assaults your nose. You see clubs, pleasure houses, spice dealers, and places of all sorts meant to make the mind forget the troubles of the Galaxy.

"I've gotta say boss, you're a pretty smooth operator. Nice mix of brutal and savvy. Didn't expect you to make nice with the Jedi though I have to admit."

Haust comments as he drives, breaking you from your trance.

>What do you say?

>Shrug.
>Say nothing.
>"I try not to kill unless I have to."
>"He reminded me of someone is all."
>"It would have been purposeless and dangerous."

"I'm good at killing, Haust, but that does not mean it's something I do without purpose."

You say.

"The Empire would probably be a better place if more people thought that way if I'm bein' honest."

Haust says with a small nod.

The drive to the space port is a short one, and not much time passes before the Lieutenant lands the transport and the three of you dismount. Taral seems to lave licked the majority of the gore from his snout, which should prevent any potential incidents.

You carve a path through the crowded port and eventually make your way to the dock where your ship was left. The two of you board without incident, and Haust takes his position in the pilot's seat.

"I'm amazed that went over as smoothly as it did to be honest. I half expected more to go wrong."

Haust says with a sigh as he begins to prepare for take off.

>What do you say?

>As did I. Just chalk it up to good luck I suppose."
>"Don't speak too soon Haust, we aren't home yet."
>"I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep on the ride back, wake me if you need anything."
>"I try to make a point of being efficient. Had we stuck around any longer things may have taken a turn.

And then share pictures of our girlfriend with Haust and talk about how we're planning on buying a home and starting a family when we're no longer apprentices.
Ask to see pictures of his family and when he's planning to retire, possibly to a nice cottage by the beach.

You say grimly.

"Naturally. Here I though maybe things would be smooth for a change."

He replies with an errant chuckle.

For the time being it seems that you are permitted a moment to rest. Taral makes his way off to a corner of the ship, curling into a ball and closing his heavy lupine eyes.

You find yourself once more floating in featureless black void, yet there is a crispness, a clarity to the vision that you previously lacked.

"How could..."

You hear the voice again and the visions of the red haired woman. Her voice is familiar yet alien, like a fragmented piece of something greater. You can't put it together.

"How could you..."

The voice is clearer now, there is intensity to it, like an accusation.

"HOW COULD YOU KILL HIM!?"

She screams now, and it dominates your mind for a moment. Your vision goes white as you grip your head, but you maintain the connection to whatever is happening here. You open your eyes and she looks at you with hateful eyes and an aggressive stance. Her face is dusted with freckles and her eyes are a bring emerald green. Eventually her body language changes, from anger to grief.

"He was all I had left... even in here... even if I'm not me anymore... at least he was alive."

She whimpers.

Slowly your vision pans back and she begins to fade into the darkness. You hear something in the distance. It starts low but raises in a pitch. A cacophony of laughter, like a tidal wave of noise comes rushing toward, like a mad chorus as they laugh in unison.

The woman brings her hands to her face and appears to be sobbing yet steadily her stance changes and grows more manic. She throws her head back in laughter even as ragged tears streak down her face. Your vision blurs for a moment and instead of a face you see a mask, seemingly made of porcelain of a beautiful woman's face. Pristine and pure, pulled into the barest hint of a knowing smirk.

A loud beeping sound from outside the vision suddenly breaks your concentration and your eyes open. Haust looks over to you with a stern and cautious face.

"Looks like I really did speak too soon boss. We've got a Republic-cruiser tailing us requesting transmission."

He says.

>What do you do?

Mods something block certain isps from being able to post if they have problems with some there. Most often with isps that make use of a list of IP Addresses that the clients choose instead of the client getting a fixed IP Address. As they trouble maker can simply reset the modem and get a new IP to get out of a ban they instead ban the entire range of IPs or the entire isp to ensure they get the one person that is to be banned. Everyone else be damned.

"Why is it always something?"

You ask to nobody in particular with a ragged sigh.

"Alright. Bring the shields up, I want to be ready if they attack up. Open communications, let's hear what they have to say but I want our screen blacked out and voices modulated."

You continue, rolling your neck and straightening yourself.

"Aye boss, on it."

A few moments pass and a screen appears on the front of the screen depicting a Twi'lek woman with sky blue skin wearing armor of the Republic infantry. She appears to be of some rank according to the decorations displayed on her armor.

"This is Captain Phaa of the Republic vessel Liberator, requesting to speak with the commander of your vessel."

She says curtly.

>What do you say?

>"I am here. Speak."
>"I am Xanth of the Sith. Pleasure to make your acquaintance Captain."
>"If you would be so kind, can we make this brief? I am a busy man.
>"Liberator, hm? How quaint. Tell me, what are you liberating from me?"
>How unexpected, the Republic is sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong."

"I am here. Speak."

You say.

The Captain seems to regard your distorted voice evenly before continuing.

"We have received that an important package belonging to the Republic is in the possession of an Imperial ship leaving Nar Shaddaa, matching your ship's description. We ask that you allow us to board your ship and inspect it for such cargo. If you are not in possession of the item, you will be allowed to continue on your way and we will leave you be."

She concludes.

You look to the Lieutenant who shrugs.

>What do you say?

>"And if I don't?"
>"Lieutenant. Punch it."
>"And if I don't you'll attack me? That is your unspoken threat right?"
>"My apologies you seem to be mistaken; we aren't in Republic space. You have no jurisdiction over anything here."
>"Very well. I do not have your package, only my body guard and my pet. But you are free to board just to be certain."

You reply, with a noticeable edge to your voice.

"Perhaps. But I've been given orders to retrieve this package at all costs, and there's nobody close enough to witness what's happening here. I will give you one last opportunity to let this happen peacefully, though your resistance to our presence already gives me the answer I need."

"How very noble of you Captain. Glad to see the Republic holds itself to such high standards."

You sneer.

Something in the Captain's eyes tells you that she's bothered by your words. Perhaps once upon a time she was a bright eyed little girl who believed in all that propaganda. Perhaps over time she became hard and jaded and you have forced her to confront that even if only for a second. You look to Haust and nod silently.

"I see the regret in your eyes Captain. Perhaps you are more noble then I give you credit for."

You say your voice softening.

She hesitates a moment as the Lieutenant powers up the warp drive, and you see a flicker in her eyes as she realize what you're doing.

"Until we meet again Captain. Perhaps then we can exchange formalities properly."

You comment.

"YOU-"

She begins.

Motion overtakes your ship as you see the lasers on the front of the Republic ship hum to life and prepare to fire. In an instant the ship falls out of view and you roll your neck trying to work out a kink you developed while meditating.

"Nice work boss. We should be back on Dromund Kaas in a few hours."

Haust says with a sigh.

The combination of the shock of your vision and the tension of the encounter just now prevents you from focusing on sleep or meditation. The next several hours pass slowly but surely and in time you see the planet come into view.

While preparing to dock and exit the ship your communicator vibrates momentarily notifying you that you have received a message from Nivah. You spend your time on the way back from the space port to Dromund Kaas reading it.

'Xanth,

I am leaving Dromund Kaas for Alderaan with my Master as I write this. When we parted on Korriban my only comfort was knowing that there was a chance we would be in proximity to each other, and that I might be able to see you now and again. Unfortunately the more I hear about our mission the less likely it seems.

Master says that due to the nature of my job, I will likely be in Anderaan for months, possibly even years. He continues to encourage me not to write you so often so that I can focus on my tasks. Even now I must admit, I've stopped myself a few times from writing you multiple times in the same day just to hear from you.

I hope your mission went well. I know you won't be able to share the details of it, but it's kind of exciting knowing you're doing secret missions. I wonder if they'll ever send you to Alderaan to help with the Imperial efforts there. I hope so.

Master says that much of my time on the way to Alderaan will be spent doing research on the politics and the history of the planet so this may be the last time you hear from me for a while. I hope you'll keep writing me regardless so I can keep up on your life.

I could write for hours to be honest, but I know you're likely busy and I need to speak with Master. I love you, and I hope you're doing well.

Love,
Nivah'

You look up from your communicator and find yourself in Kaas City again as Haust chauffeur you back to your apartment. Taral looks up to you and looks at your communicator.

"Another message from Nivah?"

He asks.

You nod in silent response to the tuk'ata.

"She is well?"

He asks.

You nod again.

"Then why do you look so worried?"

He asks.

"I don't trust her Master... he felt slimy and oily, like a trench snake ready to bite."

You say.

"I remember him. He smelled of cowardice and deception. But Nivah is strong now, nearly as strong as you are. Trust in her."

Taral says looking up to you lazily.

"Boss, we're here."

Haust chips in before you can reply to Taral.

You look outside the window of the transport vehicle and see the entrance to your apartment complex.

"Thank you Lieutenant."

You reply as you exit the vehicle.

"I'll be headed back to HQ for debriefing from my superiors. If you need anything before the next mission, you know how to reach me."

Haust says with a wave before driving off.

You hear a beeping in your ear and answer your earpiece.

"My Lord, I see you've returned. Please come to HQ as soon as possible for your de-briefing... and good job."

Watcher 18's voice enters your ear, delivering her message with crisp brevity before adding on her chipper notation at the end.

You decide to head straight to HQ, leaving Taral behind at the apartment to let him rest, and opportunity he takes advantage of with vigor. You place your hand in the picture within the bathroom and a song ding notifies you that the elevator is ready for use and activate it accordingly.

It takes you little time to find your way back to the large room you were taken to in your first visit to the Shadow Warden HQ. There you find Watcher 18 waiting for you, and she smiles as you approach.

"Good to see you are well my Lord. Please follow me, Zyr'rha and Darth Incarnus are waiting for you."

She says, as she types into her tablet.

The two of you walk in silence for the majority as you begin to feel the residual ache of combat begins to set into your weary muscles. Eventually the two of you come to one of many indistinguishable steel doors.

"They are waiting for you within my Lord. I will wait for you here."

She says.

You approach the door and it opens soundlessly, and within you see Zyr'rha in person for the first time as well as your Master, both raising their eyes to look at you. Zyr'rha is shorter then you expected, even shorter then Nivah, yet even as she stands still there is a grace to the way she holds herself. A deadliness.

"Excellent. I see you have returned unharmed."

Your Master says with a nod.

>What do you do?

>"It was a trifling matter."
>"Of course Master. I live to serve."
>"What exactly is in this package? With all this fuss it must be important."
>"I was intercepted by a Republic ship that seemed to believe I had the package. Luckily I got away without incident."

>>
>>739775
ok, i'm just gonna point something out.

This was a very important thingie, important enough that they sent Jedi there to negotiate.

Furthermore there is no way that said jedi could report that the package was being stolen and call in a ship in the time it took for us to take off.
In other words that ship is what the Jedi came in, and it was in orbit all along and simply got the call that sith were stealing their shit, and it then intercepted the Sith ship that took off from the planet.

No information leak, nothing odd, strange or backhanded.
>>
>>739798
I mean just state it as fact and be annoyed we weren't informed of it. I'd have done the exact same thing but informed the bait of it beforehand at least.
>>
>>739805
I'd be disappointed in our fellow apprentice if she hadn't tipped the republic off. It not only aids her escape with the item but also potentially kills off a rival.
>>
>>739826
I'd rather not encourage her to jeopardize any Imperial Assets.
>>
>>739826
Possibly, but there is healthy paranoia and there is unhealthy.

It is more likely that the 'jedi' we encountered informed the ship.

Now if you want to go down this route I'd point to our master who gave us a 'sith' design that was sure to draw attention rather then a more neutral vessel
>>
>>739842
Actually that's a good point.
Why DID our master send us off in a ship that's obviously imperial?
>>
>>739826
>>739842
Honestly, let's just think of it as our Master testing to see if we can operate and survive even though we blatantly scream "I'M A SITH!"
>>
>>739850
Because we were the bait.
Obviously. That was the job description.
>>
>>739860
For the jedi.
That were unexpected.
When the mission brief was just about some crime lord.
>>
>>739870
Remember why he wanted that thing in the first place?
Because the republic 'really' wanted it, and they were not sure what it was.

The mission brief was about the crime lord because we were supposed to strike 'before' the face to face meetings, I guess the loud explosion made the jedi curius.
>>
>>739881
The auction was supposed to be a week from now. I suppose it's possible they noticed something odd with the massive explosions but even still why announce it was the empire?

"I was intercepted by a Republic ship that seemed to believe I had the package. Luckily I got away without incident."

You say calmly as you enter the room.

"Interesting. They would have needed some degree of notice to respond so quickly... though I suppose... Zyr'rha said there were Jedi. Is that correct?"

Darth Incarnus asks.

"Yes. There were two, a Master and a Padwan."

You reply.

"It's possible they were there as a contingency plan for the Jedi... but that seems unlikely. I will investigate this incident further. Thank you for notifying me."

Darth Incarnus says simply.

"Now then, you have both done well. Especially you Xanth, you have exceeded expectations much to my pleasure. Two Jedi, a Mandolorian, and a building worth of Hutt Cartel thugs and yet here to stand none the worst for wear. I am impressed."

He continues.

"As I said Master, I strive to surpass expectations."

You reply with a bow.

"Now that you have proven yourself, moving forward you will be receiving a monthly salary of five thousand credits, the first months worth has been transferred into your account. As you continue to improve your skills and can be trusted to take on more difficult missions your pay will be increased. You will also be given a week's worth of time to familiarize yourself with Kaas City and the headquarters before you are called upon again. I suggest you begin to make connections, they will carry you far in your line of work. Aside from that both of you have done well. Unless you have any further need of me, you are dismissed."

Anon, let me point something out. This isnt a week off, this is another test. He wants to see how/if we can handle the city (We might have to be called in on short notice after all) as well as how/if we manage to network.

Its not vacation, he just says we dont have to come to school to write the essay...
He'l still want it by the end of the week.
>>

Wanting to add to this. If we ever want to blend in to a place before a mission we should probably learn about it first. Haust seems like some A-Team material jack of all trades. He could probably give us some pointers on blending in to different types of crowds.

"So I just have a week off? That's... unexpected but not unappreciated."

You reply, which your Master responds to with a chuckle.

"You have only just come away from a years worth of training at the Academy and your first mission. You are not a machine, you will be given time to rest as I feel is appropriate. So long as you don't do anything to embarrass me and use your time constructively it will be a regular occurrence. Aside from that, there is nothing pressing at the moment that requires your attention."

Darth Incarnus concludes.

"Very well. Before I take my leave I did have one question Master, do I have access to records held by the Warden's?"

You ask.

"You will have access to most of them, yes. I encourage you to research people of note in your free time as well, knowledge could mean the difference between life and death for you. That being said, there is some information that is restricted to anyone but myself and my advisers within the Wardens."

He replies.

"Thank you Master, in that case I will take my leave."

You say, giving a low bow before leaving the room and entering the hall, where you find Watcher 18 who looks up to you expectantly with a small smile.

"I expect you are eager to head to the armory?"

She asks.

You nod, and the two of you make your way down the halls.

Could we get more tuk'ata followers and basically become a K-9 unit?
>>
>>740901
An interesting idea... I would really like to train up our current doogo tho. Can't they use the force or something?
>>
>>741089
We need to get him a vibroknife with cortosis-weave so that he will be able to duel with enemy jedi!
>>
>>741175
As cool as it is I'd rather that Taral not become Sif
>>
>>741280
come on we can even get him a cybernetic eye, armor plates and call him DD
>>
>>741288
Okay, try putting a knife in your mouth and doing anything with it.

a quadruped would have an easier time just because of physiology, but they still would have essentially no range of motion to compensate for the massive unguarded portions of their body and the opposite side of their face.

And since a lightsaber just needs to graze you to put inches deep wounds into you that would mean you're fucked.

It isn't viable. He'd be better off just biting for the arm/wrist holding a weapon rather than do some dumbass fucking knife fighting shit that simply wouldn't work. Let him bite shit. It's what he's good at.

Also

>having Taral attacking jedi head-on instead of from opportune angles whilst distracted

This kills the doggo.
>>
>>741318
Sorry I was making a joke about MGS Phantom Pain.
>>
>>741339
One thing you should always remember is that as you make a joke, there is some moron out there who will see it and say "HOLY SHIT THAT'S GREAT VOTING FOR THAT!" and when there is one there are more. Like roaches.
>>
>>741318
I'm surprised there aren't cortosis chain cloths though. Might not be a bad idea to get some for our doggo.

Who, in hindsight, we should have sent along to be an ally for Niveh.

Lets look up the sales records for our mother. Find our former Slave master, Kill the master, free the slaves, burn the planet. Then we have an acceptable excuse as to how we know our real parents that doesn't implicate, lil sis

>>
>>741492
Cortosis I'm pretty sure can be made into an under-mesh or well that but its expensive and brittle as fuck.
>>
>>741914
As far as I'm concerned the slaves should be left to fend for themselves. We don't owe them shit.
>>
>>740077
>"Do you know anything about Darth Vyse?"
Imma stab this nigga, Imma put him in a grave.

They can free themselves by their own power or continue to languish. Any who seem particularly skilled or useful we might recruit personally, but we aren't here to enable the weak.
>>
>>742117
Cortosis itself is brittle, that's why it's used in alloys like for swords and armor.

But yeah, missed adding the "weave" into that.
>>
>>744258

>>
So about the whole selling the slaves thing.
instead of doing that, and just killing the owner we make him sign the mine and whatever other wealth and property he might have over to someone we adopt as a front figure(ie one of the slaves we used to know) and then we can release the current slaves or whatever and buy new ones and implement a system that a slave has to mine a certain amount of ore/make a certain amount of money from us to buy his freedom, we can also implement better living conditions. this might not be very sith of us but we would get a steady source of income, though i'm not sure if anons and Brine wish to go this way i always enjoy making money and building a small or big business. it might take some time away from sithing but we can employ people to do most of the work for us and during our travels murder our way into more real estate and businesses as long as we make sure to not piss the wrong people off.
>>
>>747465
It feels like going against the grain of the quest to settle down after all the decisions we've made to become a hunter.
>>
>>747481
We wouldn't have to settle down the slightest, we can just hire people to do the work for us while we continue doing what we do, it would be a kind of backup if we have to bail from the empire someday we could use the money saved up form the businesses and sell them off fast before bailing.

If it's not cool, I will refrain from now on.
