You are in command over the Imperial Japanese Battleship Hyuga, starting at the very beginning of December 1941. Due to the will of players and that of the dice, history may go quite differently from what we know. For all intents and purposes, this is a wargame. It is incredibly important that you check the Pastebin link to familiarize yourself with the relatively simple dice mechanics, and to check it somewhat often as I may change important details of it as time goes on.

Last time on Hyuga Quest, the Battle of Midway began, and we sank USS Hornet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuOnQpyP1nc

As Hornet sinks, several ships begin to appear over the horizon, and distant specks of aircraft loom far away, slowly coming closer.

There is no time to fire on the ships, as a flight of fifteen B-17 armed with bombs, and four B-26 armed with torpedoes approach from the side, and you quickly order to manuever away to avoid their deadly payloads.

>Roll 2d100

>Large aircraft such as these are harder to shoot down, and the B-17 are out of AA range, their altitude is far too high.

Three of the B-26 are knocked out of the sky, and the one that manages to get through launches a torpedo.

Luckily, you were able to dodge the torpedo.

Next came the bombs from the flight of B-17.

Eight 500lb bombs landed on or near the ship. Two impacted on the bow, tearing holes once again and distorting the deck. Another managed to knock out four boilers, slowing your speed to 20.5 knots.

>DC for torpedo evasion has increased to 17

Friendly fighters pursue the B-17 after they have dropped their loads, to little effect.

You receive radio transmissions that Hiryu has been heavily damaged by American aircraft, and may sink if even the slightest damage occurs.

>Assist Hiryu
>Move towards the American ships on the horizon, prepare to engage.

Mikuma had already limped off, and Mogami had also taken the call for help from Hiryu, but was travelling at nearly twice your current speed.

The advancing American ships appear to be three Farragut class, and one Porter class destroyers.

You have the ship turn again, Mogami would be enough to protect Hiryu for the time being.

The 15" guns move to face the quickly approaching destroyers, loaded and ready.

The shot grouping was tight enough that an estimate of hits wasn't even necessary.

One of the Farragut class was effectively pushed under the water during the third salvo, after taking small hits during the first.

(USS Aylwin, sunk)

Ok, so i say withdraw next round and fire with rear guns, we should start closing with hiryu soon.
>>
>>744011
Will the other ships be able to hit them or are they out of range? We should fall back so that they can hit them. But still stay between them and the striken ship.

By the end of the next "turn" they will have closed to a halfway point in the Long Range bracket. No other ships are quite close enough to fire yet.

The center guns jam, leaving only eight barrels for some time. Luckily, you manage to land three hits on the Porter, leaving it dead in the water, but not sinking.

You turn towards Hiryu yet again, and manage to reach her at a crucial time, as a squadron of eight of what appear to be torpedo bombers begin to descend upon her.

Mogami's AA fire as well as that from Hiryu begins to fill the sky.
