You are Paxious Dromus, a student at the Jedi Temple on Tython.

After facing a Jedi Master in lightsaber combat, you made friends with your fellow students Lu, Jorraan, and Ara.

You’ve finished your first day at the academy and wandered off to the dormitories to get some sleep after a good meal.

You wake up to two boys whispering something you can’t quite make out. You peek one eye open and look out the window by your bed to discover that it is well before you need to get up.

What do you do?

>Tell them to shut up

You listen as best you can to their conversation. You make out two voices, one that sounds like it might be Jorraan and another that you don’t recognize. The voice is commanding despite its youthful tone.

“...way. I refuse to believe it,” says Jorraan.

“Believe whatever you want, Jumbo. I’m just saying what I heard some of the masters talking about near the end of the testing last night,” says the unfamiliar voice.

“But a Sith couldn’t be here. The Masters would know.”

The unfamiliar voice snorts a bit, “Have you even been listening to me? That’s exactly what the Masters said. And then one of them suggested that it was one of the Masters. That a Jedi Master is actually a secret Sith!”

Jorraan is silent for a moment before replying, “Well who do they think it is then?”

“Don’t know,” he says, “They’re bringing in some sort of ‘Darkside Detector’ guy to figure it all out. Apparently he’ll be teaching here while he looks for Sith.”

After you hear this, you drift back to sleep.

You wake up to find a set of plain brown robes on your bed. You change into them quickly as you see the other boys around you beginning to stir and get up.

As you exit the dormitory, you realize you have a bit of time before the next test starts.

You make your way to the cafeteria and discover it to be mostly empty. You pick up some oats and grab a bantha breakfast biscuit along with some fried gartro eggs before looking for a place to sit. You find that you don’t know any of the current students or faculty sitting in the cafeteria.

You see a rather glum looking Jedi Knight who seems to be stabbing his food with his form more than he is eating it. You see another student, a Mirialan girl sitting alone and eating as if her life depended on it. You see an old woman who you think is a Jedi Master eating either soup or cereal. You really can’t be sure.

You seat yourself next to the Mirialan girl. With an appetite like a starved rancor, she scarfs down some noodles for breakfast. As you sit down, she continues to eat and seems to either not have noticed you or be content in eating without acknowledging you. It isn’t until you take the first bite of your breakfast, when the metallic fork clangs against the ceramic plate, that she notices your presence.

She jumps, surprised by the fact that you’re suddenly there, exclaiming, “Holy Sith! Sorry, I didn’t notice you.”

She looks at you for another moment before saying, “Hey! I know you! You were one of the like 7 students who managed to touch Master Retsma during the test! Call me Nazz.”

She extends a hand to you.

“Paxious,” you say, “Paxious Dromus.”

“So,” you add, “The food here’s good?”

“Oh yeah!” she says, enthusiastic and unabashedly. “Or at least it’s better than home.”

“Home?” you ask.

“Yeah, a swoop garage on Nar Shaddaa. You’re looking at the best Greasemonkey this side of the Smuggler’s moon! You’d be surprised how bad a seasoning leaking engine fluid makes, though,” she says with a bit of a giggle.

“So,” she asks, “What’s home like for you, Paxious?”

What do you say?

Piggy backing on the other guys comment. I cook for myself for the week, simple tubbawear stuff. Get a crock pot if you don't have one, you can cook a roast in it easily, salt/pepper it or whatev and set it to high for 4-6 hours and not look at it until then. 20 roast at walmart could even be cut in half and second half frozen til the next week.
Pork chops are easy, cookie sheet and oven for an hour at 350 degrees f. Cut them up if you want or throw them in the container hole.
Get a rice cooker for easy peasy rice. I like the mahatma yellow rice, some butter and the rice on a pan for 20 minutes in water, done. 2 bags goes for a week at a dollar a pop.
Walmart and most place, i prefer winnco for cheap, have microwavable bags of veggies in different combos, 4 minutes and a bag will go across about 4-5 containers. these are also 1-1.5 dollars

I like these containers: https://www.amazon.com/Pakkon-Compartment-Durable-Container-Airtight/dp/B015NEHIWK/ref=pd_sim_79_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VSYXJ287PB1KVNB0790T

“Well, it was a lot of empty fields and a lot of ridiculously large farm equipment,” you say, staring at the ceiling as you picture the grassy fields you and your brothers used to play in.

“Repairing swoop bikes sounds like a lot more fun than repairing harvester droids and land speeders all day long,” you comment with a smile.

“Not in the shape most people brought the bikes into our shop, I assure you,” Nazz retorts.

“It was peaceful, though,” you comment, “I mean, outside of when we were training.”

“Training? For what?” she asks.

“Zabrak martial arts aren’t something you pick up as a hobby. These tattoos are a rite of passage,” you say, pointing to her face.

As she’s about to comment on this, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.

“Will all potential students please report to the Temple Garden, immediately.”

“Shit,” says Nazz, “We’re on the other end of the Temple. We’re going to be late if we don’t run.”

You break into a run through the long temple halls, following Nazz as she seems to know where she’s going. As you run, the hallways get steadily narrower, winding more and more around with sudden turns and curves.

As you quickly round a corner, you find yourself face to face with one of the most intimidating men you’ve ever seen. The left side of his face is covered in ugly black scars that seem to still leave the smell of simmering in the air as if he just received them moments ago. His left arm has also been replaced by a robotic arm. He’s dressed in a long black cloak that seems more akin to military than to any Jedi, and yet, you notice his lightsaber under his coat, hung around his waist. Your momentum nearly carries you right into him, but you manage to move out of the way just in time.

As you continue running down the hallway, you look back to find that he is glaring your direction, a look that confusion mixed with agitation covering his face, but as you turn the next corner, you notice a hint of sorrow with that annoyance.

You keep following Nazz and eventually find go through a doorway and find yourself outside in a beautiful garden. You look around briefly to take in your surroundings, feeling slightly more at peace as you do.

“Hey!” Nazz calls to you from several yards ahead. She motions for you to keep following her to the crowd of students that has formed at the edge of your vision, by the tree line that separates the garden from the forest.

You run to catch up and get there at about the same time as her. You put your hands on your knees and breathe a sigh of relief. You’ve made it on time.

In the center of the crowd of students, a Twi’lek Jedi master is meditating a few feet off the ground. A bell rings in the distance and she returns to her feet.

“I am Jedi master Raza’Deek. You may call me Master Raza. I am here to test your potential in the Force. I want to let you know that telekinetic uses of the Force are only a very small part of what we do, but it is a very easy measure of how easy the Force flows through you. Do not feel discouraged if you cannot do it to start. All things come in time.”

The circle of students parts in the back as a disk-shaped rock, approximately the size of a rather large plate, floats into the hands of Master Raza.

“Your task is to, using only flowing of the Force, move this rock to this line,” she says, as a small grouping of pebbles roll to form a line about 30 feet away.

“If you fail, do not be discouraged. Newness to an action is not a punishment. Any volunteers?”

“Good, good! I’m glad we have someone willing to try something new. Now, many students, when they first attempt to move things, try to push it through will, or they try to concentrate as hard as they can. Here is my advice. Relax and clear your mind. The Force flows through you as it flows through all things, including that rock. Find the current. Find where you and that rock connect and give it the gentlest lift.”

It is possible for you to occasionally tap into the Dark Side in this quest. As for becoming a Dark Jedi or a Sith, those will be options, but you won't just be able to out of nowhere say, "Fuck this, let's join the Sith!" Some big shit will go down when you get that choice. And it might not be as black and white as it seems right now.

>Force point burned
>Critical Success

You close your eyes and raise one hand. Suddenly, the entire world seems to fall away around you. You remember how Lu described ‘seeing’ through the Force and you can’t help feeling like you are doing that right now.

But it’s more than that. It’s like being covered by the warmest sunlight that can never burn you. It’s hearing all the birds sing in unison and realizing you can join in. It was the day after harvest was finished, and the only thing to do was enjoy yourself. This warmth seems to flow through you and touch everything.

You manage to focus yourself in, finding the stone with your thoughts and lifting it to find that it is much lighter than you originally suspected. With ease, the stone moves to the line, where you open your eyes and find you can hold it there in the air for as long as you like.

You look up at Master Raza to find she is giving you a rather large smile.

“Should I bring the stone back for the other students?” you ask innocently.

“Of course, Paxious was it?” she responds.

“Yes, Master,” you say as you walk back into the crowd, the stone moving smoothly through the air as you walk away until it drops in the same spot it started in.

Cheers come from the other students and you can’t help but smile.

“Now students,” Master Raza says, “that is what someone going straight into the advanced class of Force users looks like. Paxious, that was a wonderful display of control and calm.”

As you return to the crowd, Nazz moves passed you, giving you a quick wink as she stands in front of Master Raza. “I’ll be next,” she says.

”It’s just like a swoop engine!” you tell her above the murmur of the other students, “Everything is connected. You’ve just gotta find where it connects and everything comes easy from there!”

Nazz taps her head as she thinks about it for a second. “You know, you’ve got a point, Paxious.” She thinks for a moment before stifling her own laughter, “Actually, you’ve got a couple points!” She giggles to herself as she closes her eyes and mutters something to the degree of, “Hah, nailed it. Okay. Swoop engines.”

Nazz closes her eyes and focuses. You see the rock rise momentarily and then shoot into the sky, far above where you were supposed to lift it.

All of the students and Master Raza stare into the sky as the rock turns into a tiny dot. It descends, falling fast and lands with a loud smack, as if it were a meteorite.

It lands directly behind the line.

A cheer rises from the students as Master Raza comments, “Unorthodox and effective! It looks like you’ll see Paxious in the advanced class.”

“Wow, not one to be upstaged, huh?” you tell Nazz as she walks back to you.

Her triumphant smile briefly turns to a grimace as she says through her teeth, “I messed up.”

Her smile returns as she stands beside you and conspicuously whispers to you, “I lifted it too high and then just went with it and threw it and guided it on the way down.”

Oh god. Her whispers are not quiet at all. Literally everyone within a 7-foot perimeter just heard that.

“I bet I looked really cool, though,” she sort of whispers to you.

You’re about to comment on her ‘whispering’ when you someone in the crowd asks, “Who’s that?”

You turn around and spot Lu, lazily walking towards the group. He’s late.

“Excuse me, student,” says Master Raza, “I’d ask that you attempt to be on time in the future.”

“Oh,” Lu replies, “I’m supposed to be exempt from this. Master Retsma already put me in the advanced class. I just woke up from a nap and was bored, so I figured this would be fun to listen to.”

Some stifled laughter comes from the students.

“Well, I was never told this. I’d like to see a quick demonstration if you don’t mind,” Master Raza responds.

Lu lets out a loud grown.

What do you do?

>”Lu, you don’t need to prove anything. We all saw it.”
>”Lu, show her you’re the real deal.”
>”Come on, Lu, it’s a stone. Just get it done so you can be in the advanced class.”

You decide not to speak up and convince Lu of anything. Lu can be cool, but at the moment, he’s acting like a real douchebag.

Master Raza stares down Lu and Lu, you assume, stares at her back.

Finally, Lu lets out a long sigh.

From behind the crowd, he lifts the rock into the air. After a little yawn, the stone rockets to the line and comes to a silent halt. Lu drops it there and begins to walk away.

“How was that?” he says to Master Raza as he walks away.

“Not very good,” she replies, a look of genuine concern on her face.

Lu stops dead in his tracks and turns around to face her. “What wasn’t good about it? I put the stone where you told me to put it.”

“Yes, you put the stone there. But you used Force, raw energy. That is not the Jedi way. The Jedi does not use the Force through their will. They allow their will to flow through the Force. I’m putting you in the intermediate class. Once your instructor there sees improvement, you will move on to advanced training.”

Lu looks at the ground, slightly perplexed before saying, “I...yes Master.”

Lu begins to walk away, slightly slower than before.

Be ready for the third test and the beginning of your life as a Jedi Initiate.

I'll probably also just use this thread to continue it considering how slow things on /qst/ go
