[Gerudo City]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDjnpVXOSp8

You and Sheik walk cautiously with your guides, a few Gerudo guards you pass giving you looks ranging from the curious to the suspicious. Sheik herself seem to be the one catching the most suspicion. You do hear some women murmur amongst themselves about your appearance. You also notice, amongst what could be seen as a sea or perhaps desert of red hair, there are a small handful of Gerudo sporting black, blonde, and brown heads of hair.

“You may make your case here.” one of the women escorting you declares, motioning for you to enter a relatively large tent. “Enter. Behave yourselves. Or else.”

You and Sheik nod in agreement, then enter. Inside you see three Gerudo standing over a table, talking amongst themselves. You can catch a bit of their conversation... and it’s an odd one. One older Gerudo in armor, Iron Knuckle armor sans helmet, nearly stabs at a map with her finger. “The fortress keeps gaining more lights every night. Those bastards are mobilizing. We should crush them now before they become a threat!”

“And you suggest we simply march in with brute force?” the woman opposite her, a much older lady dressed in what seems to be some kind of robes, questions. “Gibdos are not easy foes to conquer. You need to think with your head, not your muscles you big oaf of a daughter!”

The third woman, dressed in armor, but not the armor of an Iron Knuckle, having a more... regal appearance to her, looks between the two, then notices you and Sheik enter with the guards. The two women immediately kneel before her, motioning for you and Sheik to follow suit. “Lady Geldama. These travelers are here with the claim that they wish to aid us.”

“Is that so?” the woman’s voice, calm but heavy and commanding, asks. “It is rare that Hylians seek to help us. Usually they come seeking our aid, throwing sacks of Rupees and fine weapons at us until we agree upon a price worthy of our services.” She approaches you and Sheik, and as she does you notice around her belt an odd sword, unusual in structure and completely unlike anything the Gerudo commonly use. She looks down at you curiously. “Speak your name, young one.”

“Termina, of Kakariko.” you tell her, still kneeling.

The Gerudo in Iron Knuckle armor gives you a surprised look. “...shorter than I expected. Termina, ally of Aveli Draggai?” You nod in response, causing her to smile. “Aha, so this is the brave little Hylian my girl’s been gushing over!”

...well, it seems this is the mother she mentioned before. “She is a strong and valiant fighter. I would not have been able to succeed in my quest to the Temple of Farore without her help.”

“And you gave her that belt she’s so fond of, aha!” she laughs aloud, walking to you. “So you come here to aid us? But how did you know about those Gibdo bastards, we haven’t sent message to anyone before.”

“That is true.” the Gerudo leader comments. “So why ARE you here, Termina?”

>A. I apologize, I know nothing of any Gibdos. Could we start this from the top?

“I must apologize, but that is not why we are here.” you start, looking up to the Gerudo leader. She motions for you to rise, and then you continue, “My ally and I have come for two reasons: the first is a warning from a very reliable source.”

“Oh? Who might this be, and what kind of warning?” Geldama asks curiously.

“A... dragon... warns of a terrible creature that will rise after the sun sets, seeking to bring decay and death to the entire desert.” Please believe you...

“A dragon?” the Iron Knuckle adds in surprise. “Where did you see such a thing?”

“As we helped a convoy deliver supplies from Lon Lon Ranch to Lake Town, it appeared overhead and gave me that warning.” You recall how massive the creature was. Still glad it wasn’t hostile...

“Rarely does a dragon simply speak with a person.” the Gerudo leader comments. “Legends tell of them only appearing in times of a Hero.”

“It was an urgent message.” you add. “And... the second reason here is linked to the first. I wish to travel to the Spirit Temple, with your permission. I can have Aveli back me up on assuring my intentions are pure.”

“The Spirit Temple is not a place any common Hylian can go to on a whim!” the eldest Gerudo protests. “It is sacred ground, young one, you ask much of us with the pretense of helping.”

“That said, if you are indeed here to help, and if this message is what you claim it to be... answer me this, Termina:” The Gerudo leader’s eyes seem to pierce your soul as they stare into your own. “...what resides within these sacred grounds? Whose spirit watches over the departed’s final resting place?”

...you believe you’ve figured it out already, and oh do you ever wish you were wrong. “...a dragon rests in the Spirit Temple, does it not?”

The eldest Gerudo stares at you in shock, the Iron Knuckle starting to laugh. Geldama simply smiles. “You are either very wise, or very lucky.”

You force yourself not to sigh loudly. “I try my best to hone my wisdom as much as I can.”

The eldest Gerudo finally approaches you, eyeing skeptically. “Hmnh. It is still not something that should be asked lightly of us.”

“As much as the old hag complains, she has a point.” the Iron Knuckle comments.

The old woman grumbles “Ungrateful daughter...” under her breath.

“Iron Knuckles like myself are allowed to enter it, for example. But we can’t exactly spare some at this moment to be a guide.”

Aha, and now you have an idea! “...so might your daughter be capable of such a task? I know firsthand she is capable of handling herself.”

“My little Aveli speaks highly of you, for as small and lithe as you are.” she... says in a strangely critical way. “But she is her mother’s daughter.” The woman kneels to Geldama. “Do you allow this?”

The Gerudo leader takes a moment to think this request over. “...I shall. Termina, you and your ally will have Aveli Draggai watch over you as you journey to the Spirit Temple.” She then seems to... look past you, for a moment, and smiles.

You bow to her respectfully. “I thank you deeply for this, Lady Geldma. Where is Aveli at this time?”

The girl’s mother chuckles, looking to the entrance. “You can stop pretending you aren’t there, my little desert flower.”

“M-mom!” the girl’s familiar voice grumbles behind you. You turn around, and there she is. She rubs the back of her head apologetically. “Hey Termina, long time no see.”

“It is good to see you again, Aveli.” you tell the girl with a soft smile on your face.

“Looks like you’re still doing well.” she states, walking to you. “And hey, you got yourself a new friend.”

Sheik simply nods at the girl. Seems she already figured she was eavesdropping on your conversation. Sheik looks to you for direction next. “Are you ready?”

“Just a moment. First, I have some questions.” You look back to the Gerudo trio. “I wish to know more about the dragon that resides in the Spirit Temple, what exactly is it doing there?”

“It chose that Temple as its final resting place.” the eldest Gerudo explains, voice heavy, but nostalgic. “It was a noble soul, promising to us that it would keep watch over the Gerudo who were burried there. Hah, not even Ganon’s forces could infiltrate it back in the war, even with all his tricks.”

That... worries you even more, if it’s being threatened like this. And you think you know what’s the cause of it... “Lady Geldama, I ask of you something that may seem odd; has there been a man with masks that’s come by here recently?”

She gives you a strange and curious look. “Man with masks?”

Hopefully a good sign... “In the last few Temples I’ve visited, some person seemed to have... ‘gifted’ monsters with powerful masks that warped their appearance and made them even stronger than normal.”

Aveli shudders slightly. “I recall that. There was the Wolfos that seemed to be mixed with a Deku Scrub, made sounds like its mouth was connected to the underworld, vomited terrible toxic liquids...”

“I do not recall any such individual coming by here. And doubly so for him being a man; even merchants are watched carefully when visiting our city, when we allow them entrance.” the Gerudo leader thankfully tells you.

You start to sigh in relief...

“But-”

...but quickly stop. Of course there’s a catch.

“...I do recall reports of one of our own wandering in the desert by herself, acting strangely. As if under a trance, she seemed to head straight into a sandstorm.”

Might be how he plans to infiltrate the Spirt Temple... you quickly take a look outside. It’s still evening... but it won’t be evening for very long. Sun’s starting to sink down beyond the horizon as the orange light bathes the desert city in a golden glow. You look back inside. “There is not much time to waste. Aveli, Sheik, are you two ready?”

“Let me get my armor and I’ll be ready to kick some ass, Termina!” the Gerudo girl shouts cheerfully, pumping her fist into the air, her mother ruffling her hair softly and smiling.

Sheik sticks with you closely as the three of you head out, the Gerudo women going back to looking over the map as the two guards leave to return to their posts. “It seems this was the right choice to take.” Sheik comments to you.

“And I thank you for that, Sheik. This does greatly worry me, though...”

“Hey, you’ve got me back to back you up.” Aveli tells you with a wide grin, then looks to Sheik curiously. “Huh... your new friend seems to carry herself well. Not quite a close-up fighter... Sheik, was it?”

“Yes. I know of you as well, Aveli Draggai.” she returns.

She next looks to you. “Does uh... she... know, Z?”

You nod in confirmation. Sheik quietly tells Aveli as the girl approaches a smaller tent, “I am sworn to her, to protect her with my life.”

“Ah, so you’re some kind of knight?” she asks, heading inside, you following with. Sheik explains a bit on her duties, catching the Gerudo girl’s curiosity, causing her to ask question after question. “Huh, might have made the Temple we went through even easier if you were around... say, Termina, who else you meet out there?”

“Ah, where to begin?” you ask aloud with a soft chuckle. Well... probably where you left off with her. You recount to Aveli your meeting with Lynna... and how she quite literally crashed into you. It amuses the girl greatly, but she asks you to continue. You tell her of the poison that caused the Zora to leave their home, save two, and a further Zora in the Temple of Nayru... but also the horrors that were inflicted upon a pair of unfortunate Zora, and ultimately, the monster eel merged with a Zora.

You tell her how you had some downtime with Lynna in her home village, Gaebora Town. She seems a little jealous of that, getting to visit the vast ocean, relax on the beach. Comments aloud that if you have a trip like that planned any time soon, to invite her along for it. Next you recount your meeting with “Lord” Horon, the... enthusiastic and valiant young boy, though clearly inexperienced and in over his head. She seems really interested in how you talk about him; almost a little too interested. You then tell her of what you encountered in the Temple of Din, the monster sealed deep inside there, bound by the heroes of a previous era.

Finally catching her up on your meeting with Sheik, you switch topics; what has she been up to? Aveli, still putting on her armor, tells you about how she’s impressed her peers with the Belt of Winds you gave her, and how her mother is glad she’s made an ally among the Hylian population. She also explains some on the situation with the Gibdos; over the last few nights they’ve been spotted crossing the desert from an ancient fortress, with their clear goal being the Gerudo City itself.

Aveli finishes by... asking you a question, with a look on her face you're not sure you like. “So... is this Horon guy your type? Like, you say wants to find the Princess and such, but what does the Princess think of him?”

Sheik seems to glare at her defensively, not commenting on it, but clearly not liking the girl prodding into a personal question like that. You on the other hand tell her...

>A. That Horon is not your type, at all
>B. He has a better chance if he were to learn to overcome some of his more reckless traits
>C. You haven’t put thought to it, and don’t intend to any time soon

You look to her with an unamused expression. “He is not my type. At all. Not even headed in the right direction for that to be the case.”

“Dibs then.” Aveli states cheekily.

You and Sheik both give the Gerudo girl a blank stare, taking in that response. “...y-you... really? I mean... he’s...”

“Rough around the edges? Maybe, but I betcha I can get that boy to toughen up some, maybe be a bit less reckless.” she tells you both with a wink, finally putting her helmet on. “Besides, who doesn’t like a cute redhead that can set your foes ablaze? If you’re not taking him, I call dibs.”

You sigh loudly. “If you say so, Aveli...”

“Something the matter?” the little Iron Knuckle asks, shouldering her axe.

You look away, trying not to pout. “While I am not exactly looking for it right now, my ‘type’ is certainly not a boy like him. Part of me hopes you would have been a bit more aware of it...”

“Hey, nothing personal to you, just want to make sure you didn’t call dibs.” she laughs, making sure the Belt of Winds is on tight. “We Gerudo have our charms, sure, but to be completely honest I’m not sure I could compete with you. Though guess you have to be a bit more picky with who you produce an heir with...”

Aaaaand you’re pouting. “That’s not what I... nevermind...” Out of the corner of your eye, you notice Sheik seems to be trying to hide her face away as best she can... but you definitely know it’s a bright red color.

The three of you start to head out, Aveli whistling a cheerful tune as she leads the two of you with her into the desert. The sun’s still up in the sky... but it might be best if you can speed this up a bit.

>A. Aveli, think you can carry us through the desert with the Belt of Winds?

You try your best not to worry over what she said, and focus on the task at hand. “Aveli, think you could carry Sheik as you run through the desert? Use the Belt of Winds to get on through, I’ll follow you with Farore’s Wind.”

“Sure thing, Z! We’ll be there in no time!” she responds, carefully balancing her axe on her shoulder. The Sheikah girl nervously lets the Gerudo girl pick her up, watching the weapon she has tucked to the opposite side of her. You then focus on where Aveli is going, and make short jumps with Farore’s Wind to reach the Spirit Temple.

[Magic: 3/5]

Looking around, the Temple is clearly carved into the base of a mountain, with a large statue of... well, you’re not really sure what it is, but it’s a bigger than life hooded figure there right before the entrance, with wonderfully engraved stones and pillars leading into the Temple proper. You look to Aveli, who sets down a mildly shuddering Sheik. “I must say, I’m impressed by this level of architecture. It’s marvelous, but has this... intriguing mystery to it.”

Aveli chuckles softly. “It’s actually very new. Commissioned just a few years after our king died.” She then does a little stretch. “That said, we can’t stand here gawking at a bunch of bigass stones all evening. Let’s get in there and kick some ass!”

The little Iron Knuckle starts to charge inside at a moderate pace, Sheik and you following after her. Sheik looks to you and seems to smile, stating, “She certainly has energy to spare.”

You nod and smile back. “She is Gerudo, after all. And... I know she’ll be one of the heroes to help us save Hyrule.”

Gerudo value valor and strength, and especially showing how one handles themself in battle. Link earned their respect by fighting and beating many of them. Horon may be reckless, but you have told her that he's a competent fighter and is great at blasting enemies; she feels that he could make for a good partner down the line, and since his chances with the Princess at this point are very low, she's claiming dibs. For similar, but more direct reasons, her mom wanted to give her another sister, after a certain Captain had the balls to take on Ganon himself. This doesn't rule out anything, but it is a statement on where she stands. She does think you're cool.

Red hair is a dominant trait among the Gerudo, but in some cases, their potential descendants have been shown (rarely) to have other hair colors. There may be other reasons as well; it's also not exactly a thing a good number of Gerudo are fond of. Aveli too might have reasons why she has blonde hair.

[Spirit Temple]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFGp4PNGDBk

The three of you enter the Spirit Temple, you and Sheik following after Aveli. The first room of the Temple is a bit of a hallway leading to a staircase, flanked by two large dragon statues on either side. A soft red rug is lays across the floor as three doors stand before you, two of them clearly unlocked flanking the middle, locked one. The little Iron Knuckle looks around the room curiously. “Sssssso. Which one first?”

The door to the left seems to have a... winged eye, or winged sun symbol above it, while the door to the right has a figure of a woman in... rather provocative dress above it. Sheik looks to the figure curiously, as if she were familiar with it. She quickly looks to you. “Princess, it is your choice. Lead, and we will follow.”

“We’ll go right.” you tell the other girls, walking to the door. Aveli and Sheik travel with you into the next room, it seems to be a smaller hallway that makes a sharp turn left, with portraits and inscriptions decorating the walls, mostly in Gerudo text.

Soft chuckling seems to come from the walls as the three of you walk, causing you all to ready yourselves. Up ahead... well, it wouldn’t be a “Spirit” Temple without something like this. Trio of Poes.

“Pick a Poe and try to take it down, I’ll cover you two as best I can!” you shout to your allies, raising your shield as you move ahead of Aveli. One Poe rushes at you, flinging its lantern, though you successfully block it with your shield... though in the process, it does smack you in the head. Aveli manages to follow through with her attack, though, and swings her mighty axe down on the spirit hard, shattering its lantern in counterattack as it slams through the spectral form of the monster. The creature vanishes into a puff of blackened mist.

The second one moves to attack Sheik, and you try to move to defend her as well, but the final Poe intercepts you, knocking you aside before you can get to her. However, that puts it right in line of sight of your crossbow, and you fire at the Poe point blank, causing it to back away, disappearing but chuckling lowly.

Sheik also gets her attack in, effortlessly dodging an countering with a pair of large needles. The Poe backs away as well, seeming to vanish into the wall as you regroup.

The three of you stand together, waiting for the Poes to reappear. You ready your crossbow, eyes switching between the walls of the hallway. The eerie silence puts you slightly on edge... and then the laughter returns. The Poe you shot reappears and flies at you, swinging its lantern. You take aim with your crossbow and fire, not quite in time to avoid its attack, but with the distance between you two it’s a bolt that can’t miss its target. The Poe floats away and spins before it vanishes into a puff of black mist.

...and then the other Poe flies up and smacks you in the back, knocking you down. Sheik lets out a call of “PRINCESS!” as you fall, taking out a knife and swiftly stabbing the Poe’s body, Aveli ramming into it right after she strikes and smashing it against the wall. The Sheikah girl seems to leap to your side and help you up. “Princess, Princess are you all right?!”

You rub your head smiling at her. “M-mostly. Thank you both.”

Aveli leans on her axe as she looks at you. “Well, those small fries seemed to be a bit more active than the monsters we fought before. Smarter too. And it’s worrying they showed up so quickly in the Temple...”

“Indeed, more reason for us not to delay.” you comment, still rubbing your head slightly. The hallway leads you all to a larger chamber, with very intricate and beautiful carvings around them. It seems there is a split path up ahead, but both doors are sealed up.

In the center of the room seems to be... well, it looks like musical notes carved into a stone scroll, held open by a woman in similarly loose and provocative clothing as the one you saw in the entrance to this section of the Temple.

You investigate the room further, walking with Aveli and Sheik, the Gerudo girl still keeping a relatively cheerful, but more focused walk as Sheik seems to stick closer with you. You spot some inscriptions on the walls, along with small reliefs depicting interesting, but strange scenes. “Aveli, what do you personally know about the Shadow Temple, and what’s ahead?” you question, looking over an engraving depicting women in cereminoal dress carrying what looks to be a fallen soldier.

“To be honest this is the first time I’ve been here in years. Only other times were apparently right after my birth, so I may be blessed by the spirits of my ancestors, and the time I can remember being when I first started training to become an Iron Knuckle. Don’t know if I’ve seen this room before, but... oh, wait.” She stops to look at another picture, just ahead of you. “Ah, I don’t remember this room, but I remember this scene. Mom and I saw our priestesses carry a fallen sister to have her body be prepared for her final rest.” she explains, looking to a woman seemingly being... wrapped in bandages?

“Then this path leads to the Necropolis proper.” Sheik summises. She then looks to Aveli with curiosity. “...A personal question to you, and I apologize if this seems inappropriate, but... are you sure you are okay with us going in here like this?”

The Gerudo girl laughs. “You kiddin’ me? Our ancestors would be more concerned over the noise the monsters make. Us clearing them out is doing them a favor.”

You finally come back to the song. Well... wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. You bring out your harp, but tell the girls to be ready. You strum the first note...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dKJnSYTQEo

...with the song’s completion, the pathways start to open up.

But that’s not all that the song catches the attention of.

The three of you hear... howling? But not normal howling, not the sounds belonging to an animal. It’s a low, ethereal howl you can hear. From the newly opened doorways, two skeletal beasts come running in.

“Stalhounds.” Sheik notes, readying herself.

You quickly set a pair of Bombchus, one directed at each incoming Stalhound, and let them loose! The skeletal wolves run right into them, loud explosions echoing through the Temple.

“...Are you sure your ancestors won’t mind that?” Sheik questions to Aveli, throwing another needle at the Stalhound coming towards her.

“I’ll apologize to them for you if they are!” she shouts, bringing her axe down on the skeletal wolf coming at her, finishing it off.

You look to Sheik for a moment, ready to assist her if need be. She looks back to you, and for a moment you feel worried as the Stalhound leaps at... only for her to slash at the skeletal beast with her knife, finishing it off with a throwing dagger to its skull, cracking it open. She picks up her dagger and walks to you and Aveli. “That seems to be the last of them. Let’s keep going.”

Aveli lets out a soft whistle as Sheik moves back to you. “Damn, girl, that was cool. Where’d you learn a trick like that?”

“I have been well-trained to ensure the Princess’ safety.” she states.

You chuckle a little as you walk, heading down the first passage you cleared. You spot small inscriptions across the walls, each under a Gerudo’s portrait carved into the wall. They seem to be important ones. Curiously... there are also some with inscriptions in Hylian, with features atypical of Gerudo women.

The path takes you to... well, a truly massive hall, with a fine red rug stretched out from its entrance to the back of the room. Along the walls are what seem to be a collection of... caskets? No, not quite. Not sure what they are. And below each one there’s what looks to be a ladder leading to a lower level.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnK9g5M7Mxs

You hear rustling from one of the caskets at the back. The three of you stop, readying yourselves... as a massive sword smashes through it. A horrifying shriek echoes through the chamber as a monster wrapped in bandages slowly starts its walk towards you.

You ready yourself to cast a Spell... and the monster starts running at you! A loud screech echoes again, causing you and Aveli to hold your ears. It appears right in front of you, movement slowing, as it brings up its sword. You barely have time to raise your shield as it swings, knocking you and Aveli aside, the both of you hitting the floor hard. Sheik quickly throws a dagger at the monster, hitting it in the head, getting Aveli time to stand again and, with the Belt of Winds, quickly move around the fiend and hack at its back with her axe.

She backs away again, and you’ve got the monster in the open! “DIN’S FIRE!” you call, tossing a ball of flame at the undead monstrosity and igniting it. The bandages start to singe... but you’re not sure if the thing is dead just yet.

The monster starts to make a slow walk towards you, flames still flowing around it. Aveli quickly moves to defend you, the monster swinging its sword at her. While it rattles her armor and knocks her down, she’s not out yet, and swings her axe at the monster’s legs, tripping it up. You shout for her to back away, the monster trying to stand... with Sheik getting it right between the eyes with one of her daggers.

As it stumbles back, you finally finish the monster off with a cast of Din’s Fire, engulfing it in flames. It falls to the floor, body turning black, finally vanishing in a puff of black mist. And it leaves behind... well, a Red Rupee.

The three of you sigh in relief. “That was a lot closer than I’d like it to be.” Aveli comments, removing her helmet to wipe away some sweat.

“Are either of you hurt, do you have injuries that need attention?” Sheik questions nervously, looking you over.

“For the most part, we’ll live.” you tell her, letting out a quick laugh. “Still, was that the only surprise the Temple has in store for us?”

“I... seriously doubt it.” Aveli comments, putting her helmet back on.

“Aveli, Sheik, if you need that, it’s all yours.” You tell the girls, pointing to the red Rupee as you start to look around the room.

Sheik politely shakes her head no. “I have no need of it, Princess. You may take it Miss Av-"

“Sweet, thanks Z!” the Gerudo girl says as she runs over to collect it.

You spot the Sheikah give her a slightly annoyed look... and can’t help but giggle a little at her reaction. Still, you don’t hear any more movement from any of the coffins, thankfully, but as you look down you see... well, that the area beneath this room seems to be massive. Possibly just one big open room, though it’s a bit of a ways down, and there does seem to be many lit torches in the room below.

Curious... “Aveli, just how many Gerudo women are burried here?”

“Iunno. It goes back centuries. Hundreds of us, maybe thousands?” she responds with a shrug. “Hrmn... but if I had to guess, I’d say that this area is for lines like my own. In fact...” She starts looking with you, checking inscriptions next to each coffin. “Aha! Here’s the Draggai line!” she states with a strangely cheerful tune, but one that becomes more understandable as she continues; “...my ancestors’ place of rest. Down here it probably leads to the larger tomb complex where-” She stops suddenly as she looks down the ladder.

“Aveli?” You move to her quickly, Sheik following with.

“...there’s a person down there.” she notes. “Looks to be... one of us, but I don’t recognize her.”

“Sheik, could you scout ahead for us?” you ask, the Sheikah girl quickly nodding and heading down the ladder silently. You and Aveli watch as she moves, the Gerudo woman starting to leave your line of sight. You both move to another ladder, looking down it. “Aveli, are you sure you don’t know that woman?”

“Not a clue, Z. I mean, she looks familiar, but in that ‘passed by a few times a month on at market’ kind of way. I don’t know who she might be.” she replies, tilting her head as she looks at the woman.

You both watch as she walks off, then wait for Sheik to report back. The Sheikah girl nearly leaps out of the opening, eyes wide. “Princess, she’s headed to Stalfos! Dozens of them! And there’s a strange figure beyond them...”

“Dozens you say?” Aveli repeats, and... even with her helmet on you can tell she’s grinning. “Oooh, that’ll make for a great fight...”

“We should head down there, but not engage them until we know more of what’s going on.” you tell the girls, starting to move down the ladder. “Let’s be as quiet as we can. Understood?”

“Yeah yeah, sure sure. I can hold off on smashing some skeletons for a bit.” Aveli responds, heading down after you. By the time you’re down, you see... Sheik already at the bottom, waiting for the two of you. Aveli seems slightly worried by that. “...how did you-?”

“We have no time to waste. Let us be off.” she replies, walking along one of the pathways.

“...gotta learn how to do that myself some time, that was quick.” the Gerudo girl comments, shouldering her axe and walking along as quietly as she can in her armor.

“I am not exactly sure she’s at liberty to teach you.” you say with a small laugh, walking along. Sheik leads the both of you with her, stopping from time to time to carefully check ahead, looking for signs of any Stalfos patrolling the area.

The actual Necropolis section of the Temple is... much more vast than even you were expecting, and there’s an unsettling vibe to it. Like... something, something not of this world, does not want you here. But you can’t stop now. Along the way, you decide to take a drink of the Blue Potion you were given, restoring some of your health and magic. Ahh, and with a nice blueberry flavor!

[Hearts: 7/8]
[Magic: 4/5]

You put the drink away, but as you do a Skulltula descends from the ceiling above you... and you walk right into it. Almost reflexively, you and the oversized spider back away, the creature spinning itself around defensively, one of its legs smacking you in the face.

[Hearts: 6.75/8]

You’re knocked back into Aveli, who quickly catches you. “Zelda, you all right?”

You glare at the Skulltula, the monster spinning around to look to Sheik... and quickly getting a Deku Nut in the face, blinding it. With one swift motion, you draw your sword and run it through the monster, killing it before it can make any sort of commotion. Another seems to descend behind Aveli, but the Gerudo girl swiftly bats it away with her axe, knocking it off its silk tether and smashing it dead.

With that excitement over, the three of you finally come across a gathering of Stalfos... with the Sheikah woman standing in the middle of them all. There’s something clearly off about her, though. Her face is blank and almost lifeless, body looking stiff and strangely pale. And most worrying of all... she seems to be playing music, on a small ocarina.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nngdCRgqyJc

The melody is... haunting, strange, and something about it just makes your skin crawl. Like it’s... corrupted, somehow. The dozens of Stalfos all suddenly start to kneel as she plays, almost like she’s put them in a trance of some kind. Then... one by one, they start to move forward to the tune, a low rumble coming from what you assume to be the graves of the Gerudo.

Sheik seems to back closer to you, defensively, Aveli looking around, clearly wondering what that sound is... and from the look on her face, hoping that it’s not what she thinks it is. You keep your eyes focused on the scene ahead of you...

And you’re a little stunned by what you see. The Stalfos that walked forward start to collapse into piles of bones before the Gerudo woman, swirling around her as if trapped in some kind of magical wind. The bones then seem to start to come together, dark mist enveloping them as they lock into place.

Only four Stalfos, ones that seem to be better armored than the ones that went before them, remain as the shape they take finally reveals itself. And... Goddesses. The resulting monster lets out a horrifying laugh as it stands, the size of a building, moving into the shadows for a moment. That... is that what you were warned about? Or is this just the beginning?

Also, happy Halloween!

>>
>>777968
Oh. Shit.
And I like having them around, seem to have a subtle contrast between the two of them. How do they think of each other?
>>
>>777968
I like the team we all compliment eachother, Zelda as a Jack of all trades spell sword, Aveli as the bruiser/tank and Sheik who is basically a ninja
>>
>>777988
Aveli is a tank who can move like the wind, and Sheik... other than the lighter weapons and speed, I don't think she's done anything too unusual? What is the sheik skillset supposed to be?
>>
>>777995
Deku nuts, throwing knives, bombs. Ninja stuff, also maybe a weapon they specialize in but we haven't seen Sheik with a sword only those knives.
>>
>>777978
Aveli is impressed with Sheik's abilities and how focused she is, but also sort of sees her as a bit uptight. She knows that Sheik is duty-bound to you, but doesn't quite get why she seems so cold.

Sheik respects Aveli's abilities, she's been aware of them since reports of your completion of the Temple of Farore's challenges. However, she doesn't like how informally she behaves around you; she knows you're the Princess, but refuses to call you by your title, or treat you with much reverence. She's aware of cultural differences (she does have more than a passing interest in Gerudo culture on its own), but it doesn't mean she has to like it.

>>777988
A good summation of their respective abilities. Thank you anon.

>>777995
Like stated, Sheik has a more varied skillset than Aveli. She does very well fighting from a distance and while her weapons aren't as strong as Aveli's, she can use them effectively to hit hard. And even with the Belt of Winds, the gap between their respective speed isn't as great as one would think. Sheik is also far more agile than Aveli, and harder to hit.

>>778010
While she doesn't have one of her own, Sheik actually could wield a Biggoron Sword, if not as effectively as Impa can. The Gerudo you encountered upon entering the desert brought that up; Sheik is much stronger than she presents herself to be. She's trained and built like she can use her body as a weapon, like most Sheikah.

The Gerudo that called the creature together with her song stops playing... but the music continues. It’s almost like it’s... coming from the monster itself. You then see the Gerudo woman collapse, falling to the ground, almost lifeless. The remaining Stalfos warriors start to march forward, the titanic Stalfos behind them moving with, its body... it’s almost as it “flickers” between being visible, and covered in shadows.

They... have they seen you? No, they’re not quite headed in your direction. You might have the element of surprise. You better use it wisely.

>A. Sneak past them, try to get to the Gerudo woman
>B. Set up some bombs, see of you can bring that monster down!
>C. Crossbow, aim carefully and try to keep yourself hidden; snipe at the monsters
>D. Din’s Fire! If it’s going to stay in the shadows, then show it the light!

At the very least the bombs should help weaken the small Stalfos.

After that...
D. Din’s Fire! If it’s going to stay in the shadows, then show it the light!

Hit and run: do NOT go toe-to-toe with the big one if we can avoid it until we know what it can do.

“We need a way to take that down. I’m going to set up some bombs along its path.” you tell the girls. “Hopefully we can take it down quickly...”

Aveli nods to you. “Say the word, Z. I’ll smash that oversized skeleton right in the face!”

“I shall try to fetch some method of restraining the monster. If we can keep it pinned down, the four other Stalfos will be easier to deal with.” Sheik explains, darting away.

Aveli moves back as you get to work, carefully watching the monster as it moves. It seems to be headed to a section in the back of this lower Necropolis area, but... all that’s there is one massive wall made of bedrock. Well, no time to worry about that, you have to stop it! You set up a series of bombs along its path, four in total, carefully timing them to explode when it approaches.

After a tense few moments... success! It steps on the bombs, causing the creature to lose its balance and fall, the second pair of bombs hitting it in the legs! You jump up from where you were hiding and throw a ball of flame at the beast, igniting it right in the monster’s face!

...and then the body flickers again as it stands, a massive hand coming down to swat you aside. You fall down on your back hard. Goddesses that hurt.

“ZELDA!” Aveli shouts, rushing to your aid as the monster’s hand makes a massive fist, ready to slam down on you. Her axe swings into it hard, knocking it away before it hits you. Aveli helps you up, then readies herself.

The monster moves up again, over the tomb complex, and tries to take a step, body flickering once more... but something trips it. It comes crashing down, two of the Stalfos that were with it rushing to see what happened. Sheik drops down next to you. “That should buy us some time to deal with the smaller foes. Princess, are you all right?”

“Can’t worry about me right now, we need to stop that thing!” you command.

The Stalfos start to move in on you... and you are NOT letting them get in any closer. You quickly set a pair of Bombchus on the ground and let them loose, knocking the two Stalfos approaching you back. You then set another pair down, the Bombchus traveling to the two Stalfos trying to aid the larger one, knocking them away for the moment.

Aveli charges one of the Stalfos that were marching to you and smashes it with her axe, knocking it back again. The second one readies itself to attack her, only for Sheik to kick it down, tossing a large needle at one of the Stalfos trying to help the larger one stand and immediately backing up to Aveli, her back facing the little Iron Knuckle’s back.

You steady your Crossbow, keeping distance from the fight, and take aim at the monsters trying to help the titanic Stalfos up. Aveli manages to bash her axe through the Stalfos’ skull, finally ending it, while Sheik swiftly keeps dodging and countering the other one, parrying its blade with her knife and eventually stabbing it in the skull, following through with a hard kick that knocks its upper half of its body from its lower half, the legs running around cluelessly as the now separate skull falls from her dagger.

The giant Stalfos attempts to slam it’s fist down and smash the girls, but with their superior speed they avoid the giant’s fist. You pick off the two monsters attempting to free it one by one, the larger monster itself kicking the ropes that it has holding it down. It lets out another horrifying sound as it tries to stand again... and out of the corner of your eye, you spot a figure start to stand.

The Gerudo woman.

Legs don’t fail you now! You run along the path that leads to the Gerudo woman, her blank, soulless eyes not even looking at you as she takes a breath. They seem fixed on the gigantic Stalfos, body strangely stiff. Almost... almost...

She gets to the very first note before you almost leap up the ladder to her, shouting “STOOOOOP!” as you tackle the woman to the ground. The ocarina is knocked away from her, the woman trying to push you off her... but there’s a strange lack of strength behind her, especially for a Gerudo.

As the two of you struggle, Aveli and Sheik barely avoid the monster’s next attack, the giant Stalfos finally free of its restraints and vanishing back into the shadows. It seems to move away from them, stalking them in the darkness. You start to see what its strategy is; staying hidden for as long as it can, and then surprising them with a swipe from its massive arms or stomp from its oversized skeletal foot. Sheik and Aveli get down to the lower level when it attacks, but you’re not sure how they can do at this rate...

You quickly kick the ocarina aside, knocking it down to the ladder as you try to keep her down, but the sudden shift in position allows her to momentarily knock you off her, which she follows by hitting her elbow into your chest to knock you aside. Her movements seem awkward, swaying as she tries to move to where you kicked her ocarina. You tackle her again, but this time she seems more prepared, grappling you and pulling you down with her, palm striking you in the face. Her hands then grab your neck and squeeze. Can’t... breathe...

“PRINCESS!” Sheik’s voice screams, distracting the Gerudo for a moment... as a needle flies at her face. You see it hit... and, well... her face “cracks” slightly. She seems dazed for a moment, and it’s just what you for you to roll her off you and hold her down, after you manage to catch your breath.

You look to a very relieved Sheik, Aveli still fending off the monster as best she can. Then... it looks like Sheik has an idea. She heads back down and seems to tie a piece of paper to one of her knives. When the monster reappears once more, she flings it at the oversized skeleton, striking it in the eye socket. The monster tries to vanish again... and as it does, the lit paper is still visible.

You press your body on the Gerudo’s as hard as you can to keep her from moving and grab her face. You feel... something strange. It’s not skin, but like something pretending to be skin. Whatever it is, you grab and pull, pull hard!

The Gerudo lets out a cry of pain as you pull... but only for a moment. You remove a mask from her face, revealing... well, a woman predominantly with Hylian features. Short blonde hair, smaller nose, only thing setting her apart being her darker, more tanned skin tone. “Wh... where... am I...?” she asks in a daze.

You sigh in relief as you get off her... even her clothes are different now, not dressed in the warrior garb she was before, but wearing what almost seems to be a ceremonial dress. You let her get her bearings, looking to the monster. Aveli and Sheik back up to your position, standing in front of you protectively. The little Iron Knuckle takes a glance at the woman you just freed... and then another one, shouting in surprise, “What the hell are you doing here, Verana?!”

The woman shakes her head, looking to Aveli, “I... I recognize that bratty voice... agh...” She stumbles a couple times as she tries to stand. The monster starts to close in on you, loud footsteps echoing through the chamber. That catches the new girl’s attention. She starts searching her person quickly. “Where... where is it? Where’s my ocarina?!”

“I had to kick it away down there, you were still possessed by that mask.” you tell the woman, adding, “You are welcome, by the way.”

She seems to ignore that last comment and almost leap down the ladder, Aveli sighing to her. “Same as ever, ey Verana?”

“We have bigger concerns.” Sheik comments, standing in front of you, needles ready.

Agh, the thing still won’t go down? ...but maybe it’s on its last legs. You look to the little Iron Knuckle. “Aveli, this may sound strange... but I have a plan.” you tell her with a grin, putting on the Power Gloves.

“Plan is good, but this will have to be quick!” she warns.

“I will throw you at the monster.”

Both girls look at you with blank, yet critical expressions. “What.”

You make sure the Power Gloves are on nice and tight. “This has worked before. Trust me.”

Even with the helmet on, you can tell she’s giving you a skeptical look... but she agrees to it. You pick up the little Iron Knuckle, then, with all your might, fling her at the monster. It’s clear that Aveli was not really expecting this course of action, nor was she properly prepared to strike at the monster as she... sort of just smashes into its face. The monster starts to fall, and Aveli’s still on it.

Then you hear the ocarina play again. But the song it plays... it’s not the twisted melody from before. It’s calmer. More soothing. You and Sheik look to the Gerudo woman as she plays her melody.

The giant Stalfos seems... mesmerised by it, but also somehow in pain. Aveli brings her axe down on its face... and the entire thing begins to crumble. The little Iron Knuckle lands as gracefully as she can, letting out a soft “oww” when she hits the ground.

“That monster...” you hear the woman’s voice grumble lowly, sadly. “He... he used me...”

You and Sheik move to her after you grab the cracked Gerudo Mask, looking at the woman curiously. “Who used you?” you ask.

She glares at the mask in your hand, backing away slightly. “Heal the restless spirit... I should have known it was too good to be true...”

“And here I assumed you just did that to make your hair match the rest of us, Verana.” Aveli grunts dismissively. “What the hell are you doing here?”

The woman’s face seems to redden, but she refrains from launching a barrage of insults that she clearly wants to. “I could ask the same of you, Draggai. And your... company.” She glances at you and Sheik suspiciously. “...I guess it matters not right now, if those things are already infiltrating these sacred grounds.”

“I must apologize, I feel a bit lost here.” you comment. “What did you do, just now?”

The woman looks to her ocarina, her expression saddening. “...correcting my mistakes, it seems. Can... can you keep a secret?”

All right folks, that's it for this thread. I’ll be around for questions and such, like usual. Did y’all have fun?

You're making me what to find that cheap ass plastic ocarina I bought when I was 10 Kato damn you.

I had plenty of fun
>>
>>780867
Thanks for running boss. Did have fun, loved the fastball iron knuckle and the boss was hard and unique. My question today is how does Aveli feel about Sheik and vice versa
>>
>>780867
Thanks boss, I always have fun
>>
>>780863
It was a blast, Kato! Interested in what new girl has to say.
>Can... can you keep a secret?
Decent track record so far.
>>
>>780867
I really wish Aveli was the one that got that critical, rather than bellyflopping into the thing. Or if she only got hurt while hitting it competently.
>>
>>780895
50% of our acquaintances know who we are.
>>
>>780908
Nah, you're wrong to feel that way.
>>
>>780867
Thanks for running. If throwing our allies at problems keeps working as well as it has our friends might have to start keeping their distance.
>>
>>780912
Party members, yeah, but most people don't know we're Zelda.
>>
>>780928
They trust us as far as we can throw them.
>>
>>780875
That's flattering, thank you anon. And glad to hear.

>>780879
Thanks for playing!

Sheik is starting to warm up to Aveli a bit more, as she can see that the girl is quick to come to your aid and is still a reliable fighter. Aveli thinks Sheik is a badass, and liked fighting back to back with her.

>>780891
Glad to hear, anon!

>>780895
Thanks for playing! And Verana is going to have some interesting things to go over, when you have the time.

>>780908
That's how the dice rolls. Still got the killing blow, though.

>>780928
Thanks for playing!

And looks like such a strategy might not be as reliable as one would think, shouldn't throw it around lightly.

>>780942
To be fair, you've thrown them fairly far.
