Ilica hisses at the smaller one.

"Calm down Ilica" Derrick says. "This is Lulu and Rhea, they're knights serving under Altea"

"Which one is which?" You ask.
"Rhea is the Minotaur, Lulu is the Canid" Derrick says. "And would you put your damn sword away?"
"I already told you, you have to fight us to get by" Lulu says.

"Then can we at least do it with practice weapons?" Derrick asks.
"What, are you scared?" Lulu asks.

"No. Remember what happened last time we used real swords to spar?" Derrick asks.
"Th-that was a fluke!" Lulu says.
"The fluke was expecting you to jump" Derrick says. "I don't want to have to drag you to the infirmirary with a severed hamstring again..."

Derrick and Lulu go back and forth, while you wonder what a hamstring is. It sounds tasty.

Looking up, you see something fly out of the center of the town. In a dramatic fashion, it soars up to the nearly full moon and spreads its wings before diving back down...

"What?" Derrick asks.

"There's a thing" You say. "It flew up, and now it's coming for us"

Derrick stands and looks up. "Lemme guess. Stopped in front of the moon?" He asks.
"Yes" You say. "It was nicely framed too"

Derrick sighs and slumps back into the drivers seat, while Lulu and Rhea both put away their weapons and stand at attention.

"So should we be worried?" You ask.
"No... maybe" Derrick says. "You'll see"

You nod, and continue to track the winged creature as it falls. When it gets closer, you notice that the wings are red, and it has long red hair with a pair of horns pointing backwards from its forehead.

Once it gets level with the top of the wall, it throws its legs forward and spreads its wings to brake, slowing itself until it makes a graceful landing between the cart and the two knights. Then it-... she folds up her wings and takes a step towards the cart.

"I was wondering what all the commotion was about" The lady says. Her orange-brown eyes quickly take in everyone else on the cart. "You're late"

"Sorry, Altea-"
"Commander Altea" The lady says.
"Commander Altea... wasn't it general when I left?" Derrick asks.
"Self demotion" Altea says. "I see you failed to bring the first knight along... and instead brought... these. You know that quantity doesn't equal quality, right?"

"The first knight had me thrown into Mortifas" Derrick says.
"I figured that the escape I heard about was you" Altea says. "How did you do it?"
"Well... I didn't do it, technically" Derrick says.

"How did you get out?" Altea asks.

You shrug. "The front door"

Altea raises an eyebrow, then looks to Derrick.
"Altea, This is Yuu" Derrick says. "We should talk inside..."

Altea looks back at the people in the cart. "You trust these people?" She asks.
"I do" Derrick replies. "At least, none of them work for the Inquisition"
"Are you sure?" Altea asks.

You look over at the Inquisitor's hat, and then at Ilica.

"Please don't..." Ilica says.

You pick up the hat, and put it on your head. Then you stand up and point down at the dragon. "You got me!" You say, in your most pompous voice. "By order of the Inquisition, you are all under arrest for no reason!"

Altea throws her head back in laughter. She has a very loud laugh, that you could probably hear across the city on a quiet night.

"Where in God's name did you get that?" Altea asks.
"I told you, I'm an Inquisitor" You say.

Ilica stands up and swats the hat off your head. "He is not an Inquisitor" Ilica says. "He got the hat from one"
"He didn't give it to me" You say. "It kinda fell off his head when I punched him"

Altea turns back to Derrick. "What did you say this one's name was again?" She asks.
"Yuu" Derrick says.
"Pleased to meet you, Yuu. Derrick, you can bring your cart up to the fort. I'll be waiting there" Altea says, before turning to the knights. "Lulu, Rhea!"

"Yes" The knights say in unison.
"Put some guards on duty here, and escort them to the fort" She says.

"Understood"

Altea crouches, spreads her wings, and then rises into the air like a shot. You watch her fly up, and then soar back to where she originally came from...

Rhea and Lulu open the gate for you, and Derrick drives the cart in.

"They seemed nice" You say.
Derrick chuckles. "They can be hard to deal with at times, but they're good people" He says.

"Have you known them for long?" Emi asks.
"Since I was young" He says. "Altea handpicked her 4 knights when they were young, and made them into what you see now"
"And you were her... uhh... choir?" You say.
"Squire" Derrick says. "And yes"

You nod, and sit back down. "Think I should show her the spear too? She seemed to like the hat" You say.
"She'll probably want to know every detail about our trip here, so you'll end up having to show her eventually" Derrick says.

"Can that wait until morning?" You ask.
"It probably could, but knowing her..." Derrick says, letting out a tired sigh.

The scene inside the walls of Locke is somehow less impressive than the one from outside. The buidlings in here are all fairly tall, with a few that stand out. None are quite as high as the towers of Sherton, but then you don't think anyone got into that kind of dick-wwaving contest here.

"So where is the fort?" You ask.
"In the center of the city" Derrick says, pointing to one of the towers. "You can see the high tower up there"

"Neat" You say. "Why are the walls so high?"
"Locke is on the border between Lubars and Antolia" Derrick says. "There's always been conflict between us, but now that Hell's Legion runs the show over there..."
"I get it" You say. "Big walls. Meant to keep bad guys out"

"Ummmm" You hear from next to you.

You look over, and you're genuinely surprised to find Hella there.

"How long have you been sitting there?" You ask.
"This whole trip..." Hella says. "I know I've been kind of quiet"

"What's up?" Tian asks.
"W-well... I was kind of hoping you guys would drop me off at the guild..." Hella says. "I-If it's not too much trouble..."

"That lady was really intimidating..." Hella says. "I was afraid she'd bite me... or something"
"Altea wouldn't bite you" Derrick says.

"I know... but her stare just made me feel really small" Hella says.
"She has that effect on people..." Derrick says. Sounds like he's speaking from personal experience.

The cart rolls up in front of a familiar building.

"Do all the hunter's guilds look the same?" You ask.
"They do" Hella says. "It makes them easier for travelling hunters to locate"
"Neat" You say.

"Thank you all very much" Hella says. "Feel free to come and see me if you guys get a chance. I'd love to take you all out to dinner or lunch or something"

"Don't sweat it" Ilica says. "You were in the same boat as us, and we weren't about to leave you behind"

Hella waves you off until you're a decent ways away, and then she steps into the guild. You see Ilica's ears flick in that direction.

"Sounds like they're happy to see her" Ilica says.
"They would've heard about what happened in Bell's Run by now" Derrick says. "I wonder what the hunters over there are doing..."

"Probably packing their things" Tian says. "The guild has no love for the Inquisitors, and they are fiercely protective of Hella and her family..."
"Where do you think they'll go?" Derrick asks.
"Here" Tian says. "Or to their HQ... either way, Bell's Run is only going to get worse"

"You mean it can get worse than it already was?" You ask.
"Yep" Ilica says.
"Scary" You say. "That place already sucked"

The cart pulls back to the main road, where you find Lulu and Rhea already waiting for you.

"You guys decide to go sightseeing?" Rhea asks.
"We had Bell's Run's guild rabbit on board. We had to drop her at Locke's hall" Derrick says.

"That girl was a guild rabbit?" Lulu asks. "I didn't know they made 'em that small"
"Why did you guys have her with you?" Rhea asks.

"Long story" Derrick says. "It has to do with our getaway from Bell's Run, which is a story I don't want to tell twice"
"Gotcha. To the fort with us, then" Rhea says. "Mind if we jump in?"

"I don't see why not" Derrick says. "The back might be a little crowded, though..."
"Nonsense!" Rhea says. "I'm not that big"

The two knights step up to the back of the cart. Lulu steps inside, but Rhea's face turns white when she looks in. "Maaaaaaybe I'll just walk..."

"What's wrong?" You ask Rhea.
"It's nothing" She says with a shaky voice.

"Is it this girl?" Lulu asks from inside the cart. "I know you're afraid of spiders, but I'm sure she doesn't bite"

Ariadne squeals, and you hear skittering from inside the cart. Then Rhea faints, falling over backwards and hitting the ground with a 'whump'.

There is a moment of stunned silence.

"Ari, what the hell did you do?" Tian asks.
"I was just tryin' to spook her, I didn't think she'd faint!" Ariadne says.

Derrick and Lulu both jump out and go over to the prone Minotaur. Then Ariadne and Emi come out of the back to check on her too.

"Is there anything you can do to wake her up, Emi?" Derrick asks.
"I don't think so... nothing that's a good idea, at least" Emi says.

"Damn..." Derrick says. "Think you can help me drag her into the cart, Yuu?"
"Maybe" You say. "She looks pretty heavy..."
"Which is why we're both going to do it" Derrick says, as he gets his hands under Rhea's shoulder

You do the same on the other side.

"Ready? On 3" Derrick says. "One... two... three!"

You lift Rhea up, more quickly than Derrick was expecting.

"Whoa" Derrick says, as he steps back. "Nevermind then, you seem to have this handled"
"I guess I do" You say, as you shift your hands so you can lift Rhea from under her arms and drag her into the carriage.

"What the shit?" Lulu asks. "I can't even do that. You tellin' me that you went out and found a manlet who's stronger than I am?"
"Long story..." Derrick says. "Don't want to tell it twice, yadda yadda"

You haul Rhea into the cart, and set her down on the cabin floor. You could probably put her up on the bench, but there isn't much room to maneuver around in here. Especially not with a minotaur taking up almost the whole floor.

Outside, you see Tian scolding Ariadne, while Lulu, Derrick, and Emi all get back in the cart.

"You guys coming?" Ilica asks from above.
"Yes. We are" Tian says. "Now when that lady wakes up you are going to apologize, understand?"
"Okay..." Ariadne says, with her shoulders slumped. Then she skitters back to the cart in a resigned manner. With the cabin all but full, she goes on the roof along with Tian.

Then the cart starts moving again.

You look across at Lulu, who is giving you an odd look.

"Wanna see my spear?" You ask her.

You look between the two ladies, wondering what that was about. And then you reach under the bench for your spear.

"It's really neat. I got it from that Card shark guy" You say.

You feel around for the spear, but your hand doesn't find it. So you look underneath. It's still there, so you reach for it again.

This time you get a grip, and the spear starts to writhe. It takes both hands to get a grip on it, but still it tries to escape.

"What the fuck? That's a spear?" Lulu asks.
"It's a bit moody" You say.

But then the spear's head turns, making a jab at your face. You barely manage to avoid it.

The spear finally manages to free itself, turning back to a regular spear once it's out of your grasp and falling to the floor.

Lulu stares at you with wide eyes.

"So that's my spear" You say.
"Where in the hell did you get something like that?" She asks.
"From Card shark" You say.
"Carthac" Derrick says.
"Yeah" You say. "Him"

Lulu gives you an incredulous look. "You honestly expect me to believe that this manlet took on Carthac?" Lulu asks.
"I wouldn't have believed it either, had I not been there" Derrick says.
"What's a manlet?" You ask.

"You're a manlet" Lulu says.

You really aren't sure what a manlet is, but it doesn't sound like a compliment.

Lulu starts to growl at you, never once taking her eyes off yours.

"Lulu, Altea's here" Derrick calls back.

Suddenly, Lulu snaps back, sitting straight as a board. For about 5 seconds, before she slumps and cuts Derrick an angry glare. "You cheeky little..."
"That did the trick" Derrick says. "We're here anyway. Everyone out so I can park this thing"

Next thread will probably be tomorrow. If this thread is still around, then I guess I'll just continue it here.

But as always I'll be sticking around in case anyone has questions or suggestions.

Looking at the other threads, it does seem pretty bad. But it's just people seeing what they can get away with/being idiots for the fun of it. Once the board settles, then it should be better.

Having said that, I both do and don't like this board.
On one hand, I like the extra formatting options that they give you. I've wanted to fucking italicize things in quest since my days as Dizzy. The IDs are... okay. At the very least it'll avoid the occasional need for final destination votes.

On the other hand, I feel like it was a move made to appease the whiny anti-quest fags, which is dumb as hell. And this one thread is going to screw up my archival a bit

Some of the suggestions I read in the discussion thread were pretty solid though, so I'll be playing wait-and-see on it to see what happens over the next little while.

But for now, I'll probably run the next one on tg.
