Faction: Stormbeast House
The Stormbeast house are a cadet brach of the Dragonfist Dynasty (originally the Mutt Clan), they used to be a band of goblins and humans raised on the the streets of Dragon's Tomb that turned into farmers thanks to Mutt Dragonfist. The Mutt, an urchin turned soldier managed to kill a dragon with one punch allowing his clan and his dynasty to be respected among the Roggarians. The Stormbeast Family isn't the richest nor the most powerful but they still are respected after all this years due the continuous effort of many members of the family: They produce tons of food due thanks to their priestly hunters, farmers and tamers; Muttville, the Fortress island is still an essential river port of Roggar and all the temples that exist around in their feudal lands make their land a place that all adherents to the pantheon need to visit at least once in their lifetime. The last Dragonking of the Family was one of the last pure blooded heirs to Mutt the first and with his death the cadet branch the Stormbeasts took over the feudal lands.

The Tinker's guild of the dwarven mountains wanted to get rid of some misfits in their ranks and sent them to start a branch in Roggar. Due to the tendency of Roggar to explode into civil war, they are considered expendable by the guild and are not expected to return.

Story Summary:
In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
The 1st Century After the Storm saw us becoming a proper civilization, beginning to accept the New Gods of the Pantheon and adopting technologies and customs from the east.
By the end of the 2nd century we were beginning to catch up to Paitras as larger wars were being fought.
The 3rd century saw the fall of Paitras and the rise of the Norse, with Roggar filling in much of the void left. By the end of the century most of Paitras had been reunited.
The 4th century saw the Pantheonic faith strengthen, defeating barbarians in both the north and south.
In the beginning of the current century, a devastating plague ravaged our lands, killing a quarter of the population - soon afterwards, racial tensions led to a civil war in Roggar, which was followed by invasions from Paitras and Zhongian. After much bloody fighting, peace was agreed on, with Roggar becoming part of the new Holy Pantheonic Empire. After the first Emperor, Verigal IV of Paitras, passed away, our King, Senan Armstrong, was chosen as Emperor over Roggar, Paitras, the Halflings, Kragnaal and Ellstelg. We are in a Golden Age of technology, culture and prosperity.

The Vasentii are descended from the Paitrans who originally occupied the lands before the Horde Wars and the Norse occupation of the lands. They swore loyalty to the Roggarian crown once the Norse warlord of Vaesdeman was deposed.
Recently, some lowborn Vaesgyolan priests created a series of reforms in the Pantheonic church, wich went on largely ignored by everyone else.

Roggar has eclipsed Paitras in population, but our eastern neighbours are also enjoying the Golden Age. The Barbarian King, "The Mighty", has once again taken control of the Kingdom of Ezirin, but his efforts have not gone any further north of it.
Kragnaal & Ellstelg joined the Empire in 450 and their Kings competed in the Imperial Contest, in which both ended up taking injuries and possibly bearing grudges...

The Plague and the subsequent Zhongian-Paitran war for Roggar affected the lives of many, among whom were the Lectre family. A set of nobles from Dragonstomb with a slightly sketchy background and somewhat... peculiar tastes, their businesses fell apart piece by piece as the Zhongian army occupied the city. Eventually, they paid to be smuggled from the city and fled, walking for miles before stumbling on the charred ruins of Riverhugger. Settling down for the night, they realised this was to be their new home. Not knowing the old name of the village, they gave it their own: Starling.

Agricultural research that had already been set in motion has resulted in the development and spread of the horse collar and horse shoe - horses are now widely used for agricultural labour, as they are in fact more efficient than oxen.
Our research into natural science, coupled with trade with the sea elves, has resulted in the spread of a wonderous invention to our lands - the compass!

Octavius whitevayne researched deep into Spatial magic at the Hogwarts Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The results he found could be a a great boon to the kingdom and then entire empire. Octavius the archmage of Roggar met with various council members including the Guard commander, the Dragon Commander and the Royal Admiral. Officers and Guardsmen would attend training at the Hogwarts Academy, where they would be trained to transmit sound to other Spatially Trained guards. Thus improving communcation greatly. Guards can call for back up and Lock down a city with ease. Army commanders and officers of Legions can now make quick clean manoveurs and formations. The communication in Armies is a massive issue but now Commands can be issued instantly and with ease.
Admirals and captains of the navy needed flags and trumpets prior to this new Magic. It will allow clean orders and minimal errors in Communication and understanding of said Orders.

A daughter of the High Oracle of Divata, June Divata, and Alexander, the Heir of Arthur are married! The ceremony is held over several weeks. It is also held twice. It is held one time at the largest Church of Stoman, and the second time it is held at Divata's Pathway. It is a grand ceremony, with the couple exchanging vows and two luxurious parties being held, one after each party. The views at both parties are astonishing, with two grand structures being present in the background. It is agreed upon that with this marriage, June and Alexander will have an equal share in the marriage, neither being dominant. However, in exchange for this great marriage, Arthur has promised to send Transmutation apprentices to work with special projects with Divata's Daughters.

Ports, shipyards, lighthouses - we're investing in naval infrastructure. With more need for naval trade, we've developed the clinker-built longship design further, building tall shipps - the norse call these "Knarr".

Year 460 - Projects now. We've got 28 IPs in this thread, so have some patience.

SCHISM IN THE REALM OF THE ADVISERS
An argument has formed between the Advisers who have split into blocs. The 15th Trusted Adviser is harshly critized by a splinter group whom believe in the old ways over this new way of thinking
Advisers should not marry
Advisers should not participate heavily in religion
And Advisers should not hand positions down to blood relatives like it appears to have been done with the 14th Advisers son Petter.
So after a final explosive and somewhat violent argument in the chambers of Trusted Defence, about 35% of the Advisers storm out lead by their leader, a medium ranked official named only the Councilor.
They march across the bridge and raise their new organisation "The Trusted Councilors" over the fortress of Foothold.
All attempts at reconciliation have failed, the Advisers are now split...

It was a dramatic exodus worthy of many tales. Riding in carts pulled by oxen, donkeys and numerous servants the true believers in the ancient virtues of humility and self-sacrifice made the dramatic journey across the river to the fortress of Foothold.
There, exhausted by the tiresome journey they used their meager supply of gold, silvery tongues and diplomatic skills to establish control over the fortress.

While not denouncing the Advisers as heretics the Councilors hold that their former friends are in dire need of reform and hope that they will met with cooperation and support in aspiring towards this noble goal.

The ruler of a domain doing anything listed can directly contact The Crown to assist in removing Dark Elves. The Ruler of a domain doing anything listed previously may give found Dark Elves to the crown for due processing
Law 3-2

This law (Law 3-2) is a revision of an already created law (The third Law created by Trusted Adviser) Law 3-2 states that if a person or persons harbor, condone or assist Dark Elves (Person and persons can be brought to court to decide if something not listed goes against this law) If a person or persons do the things listed (and more) they will have to pay The Crown 40% of their annual income. Person and persons who directly aid Dark Elves will be brought to court for treason (What constitutes aid will be broken down on a case by case level) The ruler of a domain doing anything listed can directly contact The Crown to assist in removing Dark Elves. We also welcome a new addition to our ranks, a man who will be referred to as Jag, and I myself shall adopt the name 'Korl'. Note that these are not our real names and are merely code names until such time as I see fit to reveal our real names to the rest of the world...

Seeing as the plan failed I will divulge this to the higher up of the factions in Roggar...

For the last 40 years, we have been preparing, we have been working. Now it is time to see that work come to fruition.
King Ragnaset the I had 5 children, 1 of them is now the king of Anglanorse. His 4th daughter however, named Nelsa married the half frost Giant Tor Gunnarson. This union resulted in the child Gunnar II Gunnarson. Nelsa had through her entire life adored her father, but she could not say the same of her siblings. Since Gunnar II was but a child his mother planted thoughts in his mind. Thoughts that he could be a better king than any of his uncles or cousins. Hence, 2 plans were made for how he could come to power.
Plan A: Assassinations
Through many years now our allied factions have slowly spread assassins to the households of the other heirs of the Anglanorse kingdom. Some of them hired, others the men of the allies. Erden has funded much of this and helped on the planning. Meanwhile some of the Ranger Grandmaster’s men will personally play a part in some of the attacks that will be carried out. Along with men from the Hawthornes.
In addition to these attacks one will be staged on Gunnar II, but will fail. This is to avert suspicion of him having anything to do with it. All the attacks will be framed on extremist dragon supporters that want the old reign back.
If this all succeeds we hope that Gunnar II ends up as the one in line to inherit the kingdom of the north. We will have men placed around the north to rally support for this. Holding speeches, raising rallies, etc. As this would be happening we would have the majority off frost giants in Anglanorse rally to us as well.
Gunnar II has against his father’s will recognized the pantheons as his gods, but also sees the old gods as the source of the pantheons and hence pays homage to them aswell.
Potential outcomes:
A1) Everything went perfectly and Gunnar II survives the assassination attempt and takes up the throne of Anglanorse and swears fealty to the HPE (Holy Pantheonic Empire). Might have to spend some time consolidating power and calming stuff down.
A2) The assassinations go through but it is discovered that Gunnar II or some of his allies was connected to the ordeal. Different level of public outcry might ensue. In any we might have to fight to gain power, but we have many allies that would join our cause in this. Frost giants & earth elementals included.
A3) Most of the assassinations go well, but another heir survives leading to a civil war for power over Anglanorse. If this happens we would immediately swear fealty to HPE & hopefully gain their support.
A4) Some assassinations go through, ends up with multiple of the heirs fighting over power, divide and conquer…
A5) Assassinations fail and we are not discovered. Just chill.
A6) Assassinations fail and we are discovered. RIP

We are sorry

Meiregan was a trap - it and all the villages up to it were evacuated by the norse, the fields and storages set aflame - anything that could not be taken away was destroyed. The enemy has not faced us in open battle, but they have been making some raids on our supply lines, trying to test our defences - so far it hasn't done much, but with each mile we take, we overextend. One naval patrol that went westwards to scout out has also not returned, two weeks after it should've been back.

Our vanguard has encountered an enemy army!

Six legions on our side, separated from the central force by several hours of marching, must now face a larger enemy force!
Trusted Councillor and Gunnarson are commanding some of the Vanguard forces, so their characters are at risk.

We have 6 legions in the vanguard - one Mobile, two Advance, two Skirmish and one Defensive.

In 5 turns the Central Force will arrive. Until then, the battle will be 2 rolls for us and 3 for the enemy, because they number 54 000 men!

We sent a force to subjugate Burmidag, but it was ambushed and beaten back the first time - returning with more troops later, we found the town abandoned.
Our siege of Sudnaragg is still going on now that the snows are beginning to clear. Our navy's been at a stalemate against the norse, while reinforcements have not been able to replace our losses.
Forces from Ozlakmar have also been attacking our rear, which has forced most of the Paitran troops to have to go back and protect the towns we took earlier.
It is spring of 463. The HPE's armies in the North number 76 000 men.

International news:

The Grudge War continues among the dwarves - surprisingly, Kragnaal and Kelregan have an edge now - Ellstelg and Kasvoeg are more militaristic and one would expect them to have the upper hand now.
Our troops are back home now and are being rearmed. Of all our weapons, only the golems were not taken by the Norse.
The Royal Cartographer's Office has given a description of some of the lands we've partially explored in the southwest.
The northern part of the Archipelago is ruled by a Sea Elf Pirate King, while the central part is a recently independent, predominantly human Kingdom, by the name of Akeshisu - settlers from Zhongian that declared their independence during the last civil war.
Gajaxlan rules some of the southern parts of the archipelago. We've also learned of two other lizard nations, the lizan Principality of Shkixil and the lazdverk Kingdom of Drezvak.

King Nigmar of Anglanorse has secured an allliance with the Frost Giants.
Word is that he's also converted to the faith of the Pantheon and established a Pontifficate in Kraeveraag - Old Gods worship is tolerated in his Kingdom, of course.
The Grudge War has been resolved, it seems - Murbig Lightsteel has abdicated the throne of Ellstelg to his daughter, Relma, who is married to the Prince of Kragnaal, Maldam Kragnam - it was Maldam who led the troops of Kragnaal and Kelregan to victory in the war, as his father is yet to fully recover from the injuries that Murbig caused him during the Imperial Contest.

Murbig Lightsteel has led an exodus of dwarves north, to Anglanorse, we've heard.

A series of deals have taken place.
Daniel of Rograr and I have decided to build and fund some natural science research labs and schools though out the lands of Nayte and Rograr. May the Gods have mercy on us all.
The Dragon Guard has decided to invest in the Lectre family, in their ambition of a restaurant chain throughout the Kingdom of Roggar. This has come about after sampling one of their fruit salad dishes, the flavor and taste of which remain yet unmatched throughout Roggar. I hope to receive a prosperous return on this investment.
The Godrics have agreed to let the miners and golems of Nayte to work and mine in Centerhold.
Trusted Counselor and I have come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Though I fully support Trusted Adviser in this rift between those of the Lordship of Trust, I believe that this schism can be healed. So, I am proud to announce that trade agreements between the Trusted Councilors and the Dragon Guard have been made, and that the Dragon Guard will be investing into the economic prosperity of their lands.

What became of our Northern ally Gunnar II (Maro) btw?

The tyrant-king Nigmar demanded his head during the negotiations, one of the reasons our valorous monarch resolved on war. A war we lost tragically.

If Gunnar's been exiled then he's more than welcome to take up residence in Foothold until he can get back on his feet. That's the least I can do for my fellow co-Commander of the Emperor's vanguard.

>>794007
With the support and cooperation from the Dragon Guard I feel twice as confident that the rift will be healed and the Advisers will come to understand that they've strayed from the path the ancient sages intended.

Our party arrives in Patriarch's Hold, the center of the New Ogre Haven.
The NOH is ruled by the Ogre Patriarch, a title that is inherited either by killing the previous patriarch or by a contest of strength among the ogre chiefs. Over the last 200 years of existence, this quasi-state has seen internal conflicts, but has more or less developed into a stable society with a hierarchy of strength. Most still haven't accepted the Pantheon, though Patriarch's Hold does have a modest temple and one of the previous Patriarchs was a convert.

Our party reaches the Hall of the Patriarch. The current ruler of the ogres is a near-8ft tall man by the name of Malkash.
He welcomes our party.
"What brings Roggar to my Hall?"
>>
>>798422
I turn to my companions
"Dont .. just.. dont try sell stuff" I whisper
>>
>>798422
The empire and the Empire want to build a capital right here as a central seat of power.

But we can't do that since your right here. So we're here to work something out so you can allow us to build a imperial city.

Someone got to beat the current leader to lead the orges out of here.
>>
>>798422
Name your price and the Empire can provide for allowing us to build on this land.

We would like to peacefully coexist with each other.

At the age of 86, Count Mecenas Vasentius decided to retire and left Vaesgyolis. He was last seen near Gregariapol without his guards mounted on a skinny horse yelling at a laborer about how "they don't make walls like these anymore" while trying to stab a mill, before riding off into the sunset.

Ezirin trades with distant lands by caravans - it is the gateway from the southeastern side of Setyrias to the northern lands.

We hire guides to lead us through the southern pass, which is the border of this Kingdom.

From what our guide tells us, we've gotten a rough idea of what the bordering lands look like - the great mountain range continues to the southwest. As we go through the pass we enter an arid region at the foot of the mountains - on the desert's edge, we come across an oasis, in which a trading post is a most welcome sight for our weary travelers.

The owners of this trading post are a dark elf family of six. They have mercenary dwarves helping them with security. Our expedition is one of the largest caravans they've welcomed this year. Aside from us, there's a caravan heading back to Ezirin, loaded with southern goods, as well as a caravan from the desert, headed to Ezirin.
Merchants drop off surplus goods here and the trading post has many wares to sell - most aren't particularly fancy. They have their own gardens in which they grow their food, part of which is used for the brewing of "Sandstorm", the fabled desert strong alcohol.

"Welcome travelers! Come, browse our wares, enjoy some fine food and drinks." The father in the family says.
(You may ask him stuff and barter for things with 1d100 rolls if you want, or just enjoy your rest in this comfy place.)

All rolls that are 19 and below lose all but the leader(if you only sent your leader, that one dies too).
Rolls at 32 or below lose half the party.
Those between 32 and 89 lose something between half and a quarter(depending on how low it is, I leave it to your honest judgement).
It is a bloody massacre - the orcs used elemental magic, falling boulders, traps and the terrain to kill many in our party. It seems they've started going for the loot now, mostly - they themselves took some casualties and seem more or less content with the heads they've already claimed as they are now looting the parts of our caravan that are left unguarded.

Seeing that more and more orcs are coming, our party ceases its counterattack, takes what we can and moves forward, into the canyon.
We lost a lot of men there - moving forward, we hope to get some rest so we can make a proper count of the casualties and asess how much we're left with.

The orcs looted what was on those they killed, as well as some of our pack animals in the rear, but we've got enough supplies with us now, given that we've also get less mouths to feed.

Moving forward, we enter a river canyon - there's water to refill our stores and there's some animals and edible plants around for us to gather food, thank the Gods.

After two weeks of traversing these bloody canyons, we finally leave the mountain area - we manage to make our way to the major river that flows southwards, close to Aeldabad. At last we stand before the gates of the city! By the looks of it, it must be home to more than fifty thousand people.

The guards outside the gates are four large, almost beastly humanoids - desert trolls. A dark elf sorceress looks over them from the gate. We are allowed passage into the great city. By the looks of it, the majority of the population are indeed dark elves. We see slaves of a variety of races, as well as free foreigners - merchants and scholars from far and wide.

We find out that the city is ruled by one "Prince Nahalan". It is said that he took power fairly recently - the title of Prince of Aeldabad has existed for most of the city's history, but most former princes have largely left the governance of the city to the sorcerers and merchant lords.

Nahalan eventually graces us with his presence in his audience room.
"Guests from afar - welcome to Aeldabad, the jewel of the Sands...you know that part. Tell me, what do you seek here with me? I've had no dealings with the distant northern realms before."

"If you were to look at a map, you'd see the nearby Durwil river - from this city, we rule most of the upper Durwil, as well as a few settlements in the deserts. To the east are the free cities, a chaotic place of many cultures. To the south are the desert lizardmen. Across the deserts and dunes you will find many beasts, among whom the most useful to us are the desert trolls - the smartest of them can barely read and write, I'd say, but when properly controlled, they are most useful. In the mountains you will find dwarves and green orcs. To the west lie the black orc badlands."
>>800498

>>800519
"Your merchants may come, but as I'm sure you've noticed, the distance between our realms is great. That hampers more stable interaction"
>>800524
"I know very little of Roggar, I'm afraid. Perhaps in time I will learn more. I'll have to decline your invitation."
