Sometimes, you really wondered what you had done in a past life to deserve your current luck.

Not that you were complaining, the past you must have been a saint or a hero to get such luck in his next life. After all, isn't it every man's dream to fly fighter jets and bed hot, foreign women?

Well, maybe a marine might not have the same ideal, but then again, what would you expect from someone stupid enough to join the marines?

In fact, you pitied those marines. They were packed like sardines in whatever barracks or huts they and been assigned, and from the looks of those you had seen patrolling around the base, they certainly weren't having fun. Meanwhile, you were flying some of the most advanced jets with the cute young ladies that you were privileged to call your squadmates.

Right now, you were laying in bed with a pair of your female squadmates. One of which was your trusty wingmate, meanwhile the other was a cute Russian that you had rescued from an ignoble death. You had just woke up after a nap, meanwhile your guests were still sleeping.

You could get up, there were a few nagging issues that you felt the need to deal with. However, rest with these lovely ladies was certainly appealing, even if having 3 people sharing a bed meant for a single person was rather... cramped.

>Get up and call your parents, they are probably worried sick about you.
>Get up and check up on yours and Svetlana's aircraft. You want to ensure that they are in working order.

As much as you would have preferred to lie around for as long as possible -goodness knows that you wanted the rest-, you had more pressing matters. Chief among them being the need to talk to your parents, to assure them that you and your sister were both still alive and safe.

However, the problem with getting up was that you had to find a way of weaselling out of both Svetlana and Weiss's grips without waking them up. The whole process of dis-entangling yourself from them was a painstakingly slow endevour, however, you were able to eventually manage it. You occupied the arms of both girls by pushing them into a mutual hug.

With yourself now free of the clutches of your wingmates, you put on your boots, grabbed your pistol and left, headed straight towards one of the many payphones scattered around the base. Finding them wasn't the problem, the problem was finding a phone that wasn't occupied. Eventually, your persistence paid off and found one that was not in use.

You quickly put in your coins and punched in your parent's phone number. The phone rang three times, before someone answered the phone.

"Hello? Who am I speaking to?" Your father practically growled down the line. You realised with a slight grin that it was probably late at night back at home.

"Hey dad, it's me, Bradley. I just got some time to call." You greeted your father cheerfully, even though you had plenty of time to call them before now, you had just forgot.

Your father was silent for a few seconds as the realisation sunk in, but when he spoke again, you knew that he was certainly not displeased at the wake-up.

"Bradly? Good to hear that you're still kicking. Tell me, how are things up at the front?" Your father asked merrily, the happiness in his voice was palpable.

>"Things have been going great, we're kicking Ivan's ass over here!"
>"Things are going well, but I can't help but feel that Ivan's planning something."
>"Ever heard the term Crazy Ivan? Well, Ivan over here is defiantly off his nut."

"Things are going well, but I can't help but feel that Ivan's planning something." You replied back, before then asking. "How are you and mom holding up?"

"We're holding up well enough, though your mother has been worried sick about you and your sister. Speaking of which, how are you and your sister holding up out there? We'd heard that she was assigned to a new unit, but we haven't got any news about it from her." Your father asked enthusiastically.

"We're kicking ass out here. Janice is still a bit green, but she might make ace soon enough. I'll leave the unit explanation up to her, but she's in save hands. Her unit's been operating alongside mine almost exclusively." You explained to your father as you leaned back against the wall.

"I see, make sure that you tell her to phone us. Anyway, how are you doing? The news said that someone over there had made ace, me and your mother have been hoping that it's either you or your sister." You father asked curiously. You couldn't help but smile enthusiastically, the old pilot would surely appreciate your news.

"Oh, I made ace on the first day of combat. If I remember correctly, I should should be coming up on 10 kills soon enough, unless I've allready passed it." You replied smugly. Your father was silent for a few seconds, before bursting out in rambunctious laughter.

"OH, YES! The boys down at the airfield are going to be so salty when I tell them that! I knew that you were either an ace, or dead!" Your father boasted happily.

"Yeah, It's almost surreal." You trailed off for a couple of seconds, before changing to a slightly more pressing matter. "Say, can you put mom on?"

"Unfortunately, no. She's been talking with the air force intel bods about helping out with intelligence analysis. She may not look it, but she's still one of the best. I'll pass on the news once she gets back." Your father replied sullenly, the silence that followed was only filled by the sound of a HUMVEE passing by you.

"Ok then dad. Listen, I need to get going now, do you want me to pass anything on to Janice?" You asked calmly, you knew that there was no more pressing matters, but you wanted to make a few more calls before something happened.

"Yeah, tell her to stay safe and to call us. Same applies to you too sonny, I don't want to have to open the door one day to an officer telling me that you aren't coming home!" Your father relayed ordered you in the same, gruff tone that he used when ever he wanted to get a message across effectively.

"Aye sir. I'll make sure to pass it along." You assured your father with a smile.

"Good... good luck out there son. Remember that me and your mother are proud of you." Your father replied warmly as he bid you goodbye.

"Thanks dad, I'll call back when I can. Goodbye" You bid goodbye to your father, before then waiting for him to hang up the phone. As soon as he did, you ended the call on your end and released the breath you had been unintentionally holding.

After taking a few seconds to breath, you put a few more coins into the pay phone. and punched in the phone number for the hospital that Area was staying at. You knew that he was either there, or he was staying at his parent's house. He had been forced to sell his flat after the incident, in order to pay for his treatment.

The phone rang twice, before someone picked up the phone. "Hello, this is King County VA Hospital. How may I help you?"

"Hello, do you know is a John Donovan is there? Former Navy RIO, aged 26, black hair?" You asked calmly, a few seconds later the nurse replied calmly.

"Just give me a few seconds..." The line went silent for a minute or so before the nurse spoke again. "Yes, he's currently booked into one of the premium rooms. Would you like me to divert the call to his room?"

"Yes, please." You replied hastily with a smile, from the sounds of it. Ares had received a lot of money recently.

Looks like Lauren had kept her side of the deal.

"Of course sir, please give us a few seconds while we connect the call to the phone in Mr Donovan's room. Please stand by..." The nurse replied calmly, before the line was put on hold for a few seconds. You waited calmly, before the line was taken off hold and the sound of your RIO's voice filtered over the line.

"Hello? How can I help you?" Donovan asked tiredly, from the sounds of it, he was either just about to go to sleep, or had just woke up to take the call.

"Hey Ares. How's shit doing on your end?" You asked happily, the line went silent for a few seconds, before your former RIO replied.

"Razor! How the holy fuck are you calling me? I though you would be on alert right now." Ares greeted you enthusiastically, you couldn't help but smile at how happy your RIO was sounding.

"I got re-based to Japan. We actually have some time to phone people." You explained calmly.

"Lucky fucker. I bet you're having a fucking ball over there." Ares replied warmly.

>"So how's your treatment going?"

"So how's your treatment going? You opened up the conversation.

"It's been going good. The doctors say that once I finish my phisio, I should be able to return to the navy. Admittedly not as an RIO, but hey, you can't have everything." Ares reported in happily, this only caused your smile to widen.

"That's great news. You got any preferences as to what you want to do?" You asked merrily, while it sucked that Ares wasn't going to be returning to a 'cat, you supposed that him even being allowed back in was a miracle in itself.

"I was hoping to go for either become an EA-6 crewman, or an E-3 jockey... though with the war and all, I might be able to return to fighters... depends on how the treatment goes I suppose." Ares relayed hopefully, and his idea of returning to fighters did have some merit to it. The navy needed everyone possible.

Hey, maybe if he joined up, he could be Svetlana's RIO?

"Say, you heard anything from Lauren?" Ares's careful question broke you from your daydreaming. As far as he knew, the subject still wasn't something you were willing to talk about.

"I've heard nothing and seen nothing, I'm putting some distance between me and her." You grimaced as you lied to your former RIO. Even though he wasn't assigned to you, you still valued him as a friend, and lying to a friend was not something that you enjoyed doing.

"Yeah, well I don't blame you. But guess the fuck what? A few weeks back, she comes walking in and starts apologising to while bawling her eyes out and crap. Said that she regretted everything that she had done." Ares explained with what sounded like awe as you listened intently.

"Eventually, she just straight-up funded my medical treatment, got me this high quality room too..." He paused for a couple of seconds, before then asking you a question you hadn't been expecting.

"Has something happened between you two? Don't get me wrong, I'm not unapriciative of what I've got. I just can't shake this feeling that she's being forced into coughing up." Ares asked with a slight hint of concern.

>"It's one of the prerequisites that Lauren has to achieve before I give her a second chance."

You paused for a couple of seconds as you decided between continuing the lie to your close friend, or if you would tell the truth.

After a few seconds, you made your choice.

"It's... one of the prerequisites that Lauren has to achieve before I give her a second chance." You finally admitted, the line was silent for a couple of seconds, before Ares finally sighed audibly.

"Well... I can't say I'm surprised. I don't really blame you for pushing this on her, if I was in your position I would do the exact same thing." Ares admitted, before then continuing. "Though if I'm honest. I was kinda hoping that she wan't being co-erced into coughing up."

"Well, I needed to make sure that you were going to get better." You replied calmly, the line was quiet for a few more seconds before Ares spoke again.

"Tell me Bradley, do you actually WANT to get beck together with her? You know that I'm not the kind of person who likes it when someone gets lead on by someone who doesn't have their heart into a realtionship." Ares asked curiously, however you weren't sure if you could even answer the question yourself.

>"Frankly, I don't really want to get back together with her, she claims that she's changed, but I don't really beleive her."
>"I... I don't even know. Part of me wants to go back to having someone waiting for me back home. But at the same time, she's done some things that I can't really forgive..."

"I'm sure about it. I just..." You paused for a couple of seconds as you attempted to properly phrase your response, before then sighing. "I just want to put that horrible incident behind me and get back on with life."

Ares was silent for another couple of seconds, before sighing himself.

"You know that I don't like her, especially after what happened. I'd advise you not to, but ultimately, it's your choice. Just remember that if you're wrong, then it's on your head." Ares paused again, before then chuckling unexpectedly. "But hey, it's not like I need to remind you about it."

You chuckled darkly as you realised the irony, before then deciding to finish up the call there.

"Either way, I need to get going. I'll phone you up when I next can." You announced to Ares, who was silent for a second longer, before speaking again.

"Sounds good man. Oh, and before you go, can you do something for me?" Ares asked before you were able to say goodbye and end the call.

"Sure, what do you need?" You straightened up as you asked what needed to be done.

"Kill a few of those bastards for me..." Ares trailed off as he continued, but his sombre voice told you all that you needed to know.

"You have my word Ares. I'll nail a few fuckers with my guns." You nodded as you confirmed your RIO's request, even though he couldn't even see you.

"Thanks Bradley... good luck up there." Ares bid you goodbye, before then ending the call before you could respond. You returned the phone to it's cradle on the payphone as you sighed to yourself.

You stood there for a few minutes, tossing around the idea of calling Lauren. However, you decided against it. It was probably still late at night, or even early morning back in the US. She was probably asleep by now, and you had probably woken up enough people already.

Instead, you decided to pass on your dad's message to Janice. You had a few ideas where she was, she could either be in the hanger where her jet was, she could be at the hospital with Iori and Chihaya, or she could be at the barracks where she and her unit were occupying.

Your fist choice was the hanger, while you didn't think that your sister would be there, you didn't want to walk to the other two places, only to find that she was in the hanger the whole time.

Your walk over to the hanger was relatively short, you arrived in the hanger to find it relatively empty, only 3 aircraft remained. The aircraft belonging to Princess Sakamo was in the best shape, the only work being done on it was a bit of touch-up work on the intricate cherry-blossom paint job. Your sister's aircraft was undergoing ground tests, you watched as the wing swept back half-way, before stopping for a second and swinging back forward as ground crews moved towards the aircraft with power tools and what looked like replacement parts.

On the far right of the hanger, Iori's aircraft sat in a heap. While it was the most damaged, you saw no ground crews working to fix it. In fact, from the looks of it, they were combing the wreckage for salvage. The aircraft having been damned to an ignoble end.

You couldn't help but sigh in disappointment, it was kind of depressing to see a once great aircraft reduced to scrap after fighting so valiantly to save it's crew. You hoped that the idea of weapons having their own souls was false, as that tomcat would likely be pissed at it's reception.

As you made to leave the hanger, the alert siren on the base suddenly wailed into life. You immediately took off at a dead sprint towards the hut to grab your helmet.

As you rounded the corner of your hanger, you almost ran slap-bang into Zeus, the pair of you paused for a couple of seconds, before he thrust your flight helmet into your hands.

"Get your shit moving, we've got commies to kill!" He barked enthusiastically as he passed you and bolted towards your jet. You turned back towards the hut in time to see both Weiss and Svetlana running towards you.

"Razor! Will I be able to join you in this fight?" Svetlana asked with a hint of hope in her voice.

>"No, you'll stay on the ground for this one."
>"Yes, but you will be hanging back and slinging BVR missiles for us."

>>"Yes, but you will be hanging back and slinging BVR missiles for us."
I really, REALLY don't want to make this call. Has her jet even been properly tested yet?
>>
>>790976
It's meant to have been ground tested as far as Razor knows, you'd have to talk to one of the ground crew in order to find out if it's been given flight tests.

Then again, you'd have to vote for that...
>>
>>790998
Then I'm voting to find a ground crew guy and make sure that jet is ready to get airborne.
>>
>>790998
This sounds rather important. We should find out.
>>
Anyway, because we're getting so few people voting, I'm going to call tonight's run here. We might run pilot quest for all this weekend, then Where Wolves Fear To Tread next week. However this will depend on how much we get done tomorrow.

Like always, if you have any questions simply ask them and I will answer them to the best of my abilities.
>>
"Maybe, depends on if your ground crew have got your aircraft ready to fly." You answered Svetlana as you turned on your heel and made your way deeper into the hanger, Svetlana quickly followed behind you as you made your way towards the F-15.

From what you could see, the ground crew were wasting no time, and were loading a pair of AIM-9 Sidewinders onto the jet while loading it's internal magazine for the 20mm cannon.

"Yo, chief!" You called out as you made your way over to the waiting F-15. Sure enough, one of the members of the ground crew turned around to face you.

"Pilot. I hope you have a damn good reason for taking this time to chat." The crew chief growled at you, before nodding to Svetlana. "I assume that she's our pilot?"

"Yes she is chief. Is the Eagle ready to fight?" You confirmed, before gesturing to the F-15, it's ground crew making final takeoff checks.

"Yeah, she's ready. We weren't able to get AIM-54s to work with the current stores management system, but aside from that she's got access to almost the entire armoury available to the entire USAF and USN." The crew chief paused for a couple of seconds, before then adding. "Hell, she even has gunpods, not that I think she needs it."

"Good work. Give her the quick briefing and get her loaded." You smiled as you gestured to Svetlana, who took the prompt to make her way towards the jet. The crew chief began to quickly explain to her the capabilities of the F-15 while you quickly made your way over to your F-14. You quickly embarked and began your pre-flights while Svetlana took things slower than you.

Not that you would want her to go faster. It was her first time ever flying an American jet. She needed to know what her bird was capable of.

"-have pushed into Korea, IJN forces have been pushed back towards Seoul.W You brought your radio online just in time to listen in on the breifing.

"And what are we doing then?" Durendal asked as calmly as she could, however, you knew that she was just itching to kill more Soviets.

"We're flying CAP and a bit of CAS. I want some people loaded up with some ground attack ordnance in addition to the air-to-air stuff." Dredd explained as you spied an ordnance trolley packed with AMRAAMs was carted into the hanged, ground crews quickly retrieved the missiles and began to move them towards their aircraft. "I'll be running a full air-to-air load while Ahab will be carrying a pair of Harpoons and some Mk-82s."

"Razor, you've got the biggest section in the unit, what will you be running?" Dredd asked as your crew cheif climbed the ladder up to the cockpit, clipboard in hand.

"We'll be running CAS. The boys on the ground will need all the help they can get." You reported back as you took the book of available weapons from your crew chief.

"Well, I can't say that i expected that. However I will leave it to you." Dredd admitted, before then continuing. "We're not sure if Princess Sakamoto is being sent up with us. She's usually in the channel by now."

"Give her a bit, she's probably still sore over last mission's losses." Slider suggested calmly.

"So, boss! What's your load going to be?" Your crew chief yelled at you over the sounds of every jet in the hanger being prepared for war.

>Select whatever combinations of weapons that you want, just remember that the selections have to be reasonable and the weapons have to be in use at around 1990 (so no JDAMs, sorry)

"Give me a pair of Agiles on the A-stations, SLAMs on the B-stations. I want Maverics on stations 6 and 7 with the rest of the centre-line being packed with as many Mk-82s as you can give me. Keep the nacelle tanks as they are." You instructed the crew chief as you passed him the sheet back. He paused for a couple of seconds, before then turning back to his ground crew and barking the order back at them. You took the oppotunity to relay your load to your wingmates.

"Weiss, Svetlana, can you hear me?" You asked over the radio as you looked over to your wingmate's aircraft. From what you could see, Svetlana had already closed her canopy, and was waiting for her aircraft to be loaded.

"We can hear you, what load are you carrying?" Weiss asked as a dolly carrying a number of tail-less Mk-82 bombs were wheeled towards your bird.

"We've got a pair of AGM-84Es, a pair of maverics and some Mk-82s. Plus the Agiles of course." You listed out as your weapons were brought to you.

"Holy shit, you think we're hunting ships or some shit?" Weiss let out a low whistle as a pair of AGM-88s were wheeled in front of your jet.

"Just in case something needs to die. What's your load?" You asked as your screen registered that your rear centre-line hardpoints had been fitted with the adaptors for Mk-82s.

"I've got a pair of Agiles, a pair of AMRAAMs, a pair of HARMs and some Mk-84s. Plus fuel tanks." Weiss listed off, as soon as she was finished, Svetlana began.

"I have a pair of Sidewinders, a pair of AMRAAMs, a pair of GBU-10s, 12 CBU-100s and a GPU-5/A." Svetlana listed off almost robotically, even though you yourself were slightly worried at the display of firepower.

Hell, you didn't even know that there were any GPU-5/As on base.

"Fucking hell, cluster bombs AND a mini GAU-8?" Weiss gasped over the radio.

"I... I don't really see the significance. It's just a gun-pod, right?" Svetlana asked with a voice full of confusion.

"Svetlana, the gun-pod you are carrying is the sawed-off version of the plane right in front of us." You began to explain as a group of A-10s taxied in front of the runway, all of them on the road to the runway.

"Those aircraft were designed SPECIFICALLY to cart that gun about and rape tanks. That gun-pod is probably the best gun-based firepower you can get on a plane." You finished explaining as the large gun was carted over to Svetlana's F-15, the ground crew quickly making to fit the gun to the Eagle's centre-line hardpoint.

"In which case, I will certainly enjoy using it then." Svetlana replied in an all too cheery voice. You though about responding, but your crew chief tapped you on the shoulder.

"We've almost got you loaded! You want to make any changes?" He yelled as your squadmates began to fire up their engines.

While you really wanted to arm up with a pair of GPU-5s on the nacelle hardpoints, you knew that you needed range to even make it to the combat zone.

Plus, strafing runs usually required you to go low and slow while people were shooting at you, that certainly wasn't appealing.

"No, we'll stick to what we have." You replied as you turned and nodded at your crew cheif. He nodded back to you, beofre then closing the canopy on you and Zeus.

You waited for Zeus to begin rolling, before then starting your engines and spooling them up. You wanted to preserve as much fuel as possible. After all, you couldn't really go supersonic with the Mk-82 without busting their fuses.

"So, is Sakamoto actually joining us?" Kay asked impatiently as you turned onto the taxiway with Svetlana behind you.

"I'm not sure. I'll radio the tower to find out." Dredd replied, however. His answer came before he even asked the question.

"Shirotori 1-1 to Freelancer 1-1. Can you hear me?" Asked over the radio as she connected to your flight's channel.

"We hear you Shirotori 1-1. You comming alone, or do you have backup?" Dredd asked without skipping a beat as you stopped on the taxiway while Dredd and Ahab joined the pair of A-10s that had been in front of them on the runway.

"Negative. I was hoping that I could join up with one of your flights." Sakamoto replied sullenly, the aquard pause following her announcemnt was filled by the sound of sirens and roaring jet engines.

"Flight 2 has 3 aircraft, maybe Razor can set you up with someone?" Kenji suggested as Dredd and the A-10s began their takeoff run.

"Razor, what's your call?" Dredd asked as he pulled up and took to the skies, leaving the runway clear for you.

You paused for a couple of seconds, before then making the call.

"Weiss will fly off Princess Sakamoto's wing, Svetlana will remain with me." You decided as you came to a stop on the runway. The conversation died for a few seconds as you were given time to contact the ATC for takeoff clearance.

"Understood, Weiss will remain with you until everyone is in the air, once we are all ready, she will split off from you and join up with Sakamoto. Once that is done we will head out to the combat zone." Dredd explained as you began your takeoff run, you remained silent as you watched your speed, careful not to reach terminal speed for the Mk-82s.

"Will we be refuelling before we enter the combat zone?" Svetlana asked as she kept in close formation with you during the takeoff run.

"Yes, we will be refuelling from a KC-130 over the Sea of Japan. After that we will RV with a flight of IJN F-14s and F-4s. Then we will move in." Dredd explained as you climbed to holding altitude, the chorus of affirmatives form you and the rest of the unit telling him that you all understood.

As your unit assembled, you radioed your new wingmate, Svetlana.

"Svetlana, can you hear me?" You asked calmly, you weren't sure how Svetlana was dealing with the new jet.

"Yes, I can hear you very well." Svetlana replied almost immediately. "These radios are better than the ones I used with the Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily."

"That's good, Is the rest of the jet better than your old jet?" You asked another question as your flight formed up fully. As Sakamoto formed up, Weiss broke off from your wing and formed up off Sakamoto's wing.

"It's very nice. The cockpit is slightly more roomy than my last jet, however it isn't as responsive." Svetlana replied honestly, before then sighing. "I don't think I will get used to flying it."

"Don't worry about it, we're planning on training you on how fly an F-14, then we'll transition you onto a Tomcat." You explained calmly, a quick glance over towards her jet showed that she had changed her load by swapping the GBU-10s for another pair of AMRAAMs.

"I see, I look forward to it." Svetlana agreed, before going quiet again.

With nothing else to talk about, you decided that it was best to leave things in peace for now. After all, you would have enough time to talk when you returned from the mission.

The trip across the Sea of Japan was quiet enough, however, you kept your eyes on your sensors and warning systems to make sure that you weren't jumped. However, no attack came in spite of your worries.

As you refuelled with the KC-130, the radio came alive.

"Ok, here's the plan. We're too far north to help in the frontline action, however we can attack enemy logistical units. As such, we're attacking a number of supply units near Wosan. We think that they might have some mobile AA, so Weiss will engage the SAM units when they get their radars on. We'll go in, hit hard, and then run away. Simple as that" Dredd explained calmly as you detached from the tanker.

"We'll approach at low altitude, one of our escorting units will launch MALDs to trip the enemy AA units, once they go hot we'll hit them." Dredd continued as a flight of F-16s appeared on your sensors, their IFFs announcing their positions to you.

"Once the SAM sites are down, we are all weapons free on any military targets there. Do NOT engage civilian targets or medical assets." Dredd stressed as you formed back up with the main unit. "Are there any questions?"

>"What enemy units can we expect?"
>"How long to we roughly have on target?"

"What enemy units can we expect?" You asked as you switched to the satellite map of the area and began to look at the area's terrain.

"We have no idea what to expect, however, we expect Wosan airport may be hosting military aircraft, we aren't sure if the Chinese have repaired the runway. Either way, there may be SAMs in the area, hence why we have wild-weasel birds with us. Aside from that there may be transports in Wosan harbour. Other than that, we're in the dark on what targets there may be on the deck." Dredd explained as the formation of 3 flights joined into one massive swarm. The group contained, Freelancer flight, the 14th Fighter Squadron and the sole remaining fighter of Shirotori squadron. You all arranged with the F-16s at the front with their MALDs and HARMs. The mixed group for Freelancer and Shirotori squadrons all hung back, giving the F-16s ample room to manuver.

"Myself and Ahab will take a swipe at the port, Razor and Svetlana will engage the airfield. Kenji, Kay, Scorpion and the Princess will sweep the area for targets while keeping watch for enemy air targets." Dredd continued as the formation broke apart again, with Tomcats trailing behind the F-16s headding towards the target areas.

"How long do we have in the target area before enemy re-enforcements are on us?" Kay asked as the F-16s in front of you went supersonic while you were forced to remain subsonic due to your damn iron bombs.

"We should have about 4 or 5 minutes before we are in a WVR fight, however i want us to be gone by then. Call out once you have expended your ordanance, we'll leave as soon as the main objectives have been hit as ahrd as we can muster." Dredd replied swiftly, before then adding one last order. "We are radio silent until we engage. So lock it up people."

With that, you switched from your external channel to the internal onebetween you and Zeus.

"What I don't understand is why we are the guys doing this? Don't we have B-1s for this sort of thing?" You asked Zeus as you put as much effort as you could into staying as low as possible without actually hitting the water.

"Probably because they are hitting targets in China, or they're hunting that red fleet out in the Pacific." Zeus suggested calmly. "Either way, how do you want to play this? Runway or hangers?"

>Hit the runway. If you can make sure that it's utterly shagged then we won't have to worry about it for a while.
>Hit the hangers. If there are helecopters in those hangers then they need to go.
>Hit the terminal building, if there are any enemy troops on the runway, they will likely be in there.
>Hit them all, Svetlana has enough cluster bombs to fuck them all over.

"We'll hit the runway, crater it all to hell. If we can make sure that it's utterly shagged then we won't have to worry about it for a while." You replied carefully as you brought your passive jammers online. "If we need to, we can just hit it with the SLAMs."

"I guess that's a plan, we will only need a single run to get rid of the Mk-82s, hopefully that will be all we need. Thankfully we've got snakeyes over the regular iron-bombs, so we can make a low pass, hopefully avoiding the enemy SAM sites." Zeus continued as a pair of way points appeared on your HMD. "Just line up the way points and we'll be good."

"Svetlana, take 200 feet spacing off our right wing." Zeus instructed, Svetlana wordlessly complied as your radar warning systems screamed into life, before the screams were silenced by the radar sites were destroyed by the wild weasel aircraft.

"Looks like it's finally happening. Let's get this show on the road..." Zeus trailed off as he brought your jet's offensive jammers into life.

As the runway came into view, you saw the smoke plumes form the destroyed SAM sites. You watched as the F-16s turned back towards the runway, before then dropping bombs on unseen targets. If you had to guess, they were destroying AA guns, opening a way for you to make your runs.

You came in at 100 meters above the deck as you made your first run, you dropped the bombs from the first taxi-way until you ran out of bombs. All 8 bombs fell away cleanly and slammed into the concrete runway.

You felt each explosion as both yours and Svetlana's bombs exploded. The loud thunder-clap of each Mk-82 drowned out the rapid popping sound of each cluster bomblet detonating.

You broke off from your attack run as the bombs were all released. You looked over your shoulder as you broke away, watching Svetlana follow you out.

>Assist Dredd and Ahab with the harbour, if there are ships there, then they will need the SLAMs.

"Freelancer 1-1, do you and 1-2 need assistance with the harbour?" You asked as you brought your Tomcat around in another turn, before you then switched back to the internal channel.

"Get me a targeting solution on the ATC. Taking that out should be a piece of piss." You ordered as you brought yourself nose-on with the ATC. One of your MFDs immediately snapped into life, showing a picture from the seeker head from one of your Mavericks.

You released the missile and let the missile fell away and screamed towards the ATC as the picture on the MFD grew closer and closer. The missile slammed into the ATC and blew the control tower's observation deck to pieces.

"Yes, we've got a troop transport left, We'll data-link the targeting data to you." Dredd replied, a few seconds later, your screen that once displayed the feed from your Maverick was replaced with the data provided by Dredd, you quickly selected the target and launched the harpoons at the same time. The missiles dropped away from your jet and boosted towards the target.

"Also, we have a pair of patrol boats over here that we need gone, would you mind hitting them with Mavericks for me." Dredd requested with a small grunt, likely from dodging flak fire.

"Understood, standby." You switched to the channel to your wingmate. "Svetlana, how much ordanance do you still have?"

"I still have some cluster bombs and the gun-pod. Give me a bit longer to drop the bombs." Svetlana requested as she hit her afterburners and broke into a turn to make another attack run.

"Sure, make it quick." You insisted as you pulled into Svetlana's turn, quickly managing to take up position just behind her.

The flight took you both over parts of the runway and the airport's terminal, Svetlana dropped her cluster bombs on both of them. The first pair of cluster bombs hit the runway, and cratered the runway and taxi-way further. The remaining bombs hit the terminal, but failed to cause anything more than roof damage.

"I'm done here." Svetlana informed you as she reduced her speed to fall in behind you.

"Ok then, 1-1, we're done here. Inbound on your-" You started to say, before your missile warning receivers started screaming. You broke hard right while Svetlana broke left, the pair of you dumped chaff and flares as you evaded.

"Freelancer 2-1, taking fire!" You barked out as your missile warning receiver shut down, you looked over your shoulder and noticed the exhaust trail of a pair of shoulder-launched missiles. For a couple of seconds, you could swear that you could see the faint outlines of the weapons crew that had just failed to kill you and your wingmate.

The next second, the roof that they were standing on was obliterated by one of the F-16s. The Falcon having destroyed the enemy missile unit with a fusillade of rockets.

"Venom 3-1. Enemy MANPADS team down." One of the F-16 crews reported over the radio as the jet pulled out of it's attack dive on full afterburners.

"Thanks for the assist Venom 3-1, I owe you one." You thanked the F-16 jockey as you leveled out.

"Freelancer 1-1 to all callsigns, enemy interceptors are inbound on our position. It's time to go people." Dredd announced, signalling the end of your operation.

You didn't wait to see if another missile unit would be stupid enough to fire on you. Instead, you turned for the sea and gunned the afterburners. You and your team left having made the Chinese forces in the city worse for wear.

I'm going to call this thread here. Yes, this week's run has been very short when compared to the usual. However, I'm planning on running Where Wolves Fear To Tread tomorrow.

Like always, if you have any questions simply ask them and I will answer them to the best of my abilities.
